John Kerry on religion: He indicates that he and most people disagree with Jesus
John Kerry, Official Portrait
A reader sent me a link to the following related to US Secretary of State John Kerry (bolding mine):
May 5, 2014
During a talk to the U.S. embassy staff in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the first stop on his trip to Africa, Secretary of State John Kerry remarked about what he called the “different cross-currents of modernity” and the challenges they present on the African continent. The comments contain a veiled reference to religion, and the part that religion might be playing in some of the current conflicts in Africa:
This is a time here in Africa where there are a number of different cross-currents of modernity that are coming together to make things even more challenging. Some people believe that people ought to be able to only do what they say they ought to do, or to believe what they say they ought to believe, or live by their interpretation of something that was written down a thousand plus, two thousand years ago. That’s not the way I think most people want to live.
The words “something that was written down a thousand plus, two thousand years ago” appear to refer to the Bible, or the Koran, or perhaps both. More than one conflict in Africa today has either implicit or explicit religious connections…
The press office of the State Department declined to parse Kerry’s remarks, instead referring questions to the traveling party accompanying the secretary on his Africa trip. An attempt to contact State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki, who was with Kerry in Africa, to clarify the remarks has so far been unsuccessful. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/kerry-religion-not-way-i-think-most-people-want-live_789066.html
John Kerry apparently believes that most people do not want to believe and live by what Jesus taught:
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'” (Matthew 4:4)
The above words were written down nearly two thousand years ago.
But they are words to live by today. While most people do not live by the words of God, many at least profess to. John Kerry, apparently, does not.
Many leaders are getting people to go the wrong way:
12…. Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed. (Isaiah 9:16)
Because people like John Kerry do not believe that they should live their lives based upon what is written in the Bible, he and other political leaders, including others and outside of the Obama Administration, are encouraging sexual immorality and other sins that the Bible warns will lead to destruction.
Notice also:
28 And there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, Causing them to err. (Isaiah 30:28)
The ‘political correctness” movement seems to have been prophesied.
What should the true leaders of God’s people, in the lands dominated by the descendants of Jacob, be doing now?
1 “Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)
