Obama Administration considered to be a facilitator of ‘Christian’ persecution
Inquisition
Various ones have raised concerns that the persecution of those who claim a version of the Christian faith is being at least indirectly facilitated by lack of condemnation and action by the Obama Administration as well as by certain steps President Obama has taken against those who hold to certain beliefs:
January 24, 2014
In Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, and China, Christians face daily persecution. In Africa, millions starve and millions more face threats from deadly infections and violent Jihadist movements…
In anticipation of their meeting, here are five questions Pope Francis should ask President Obama, a fellow professing Christian.
Why are you persecuting nuns?…
Why are you persecuting the unborn? Since the Supreme Court invented a constitutional right to abortion in 1973, 55 million innocent children have been killed…President Obama has supported the abortion movement his entire political career, and Obamacare’s mandate requiring employers to provide abortifacients is but the latest example…
Why are you persecuting those who believe in biblical marriage? State senator Obama and U.S. Senator Obama embraced the biblical view of marriage – one man, one woman— until 2012. After his re-election, President Obama’s view on gay marriage allegedly “evolved,” after which his administration refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act and instead threw its weight behind the legal effort to undermine traditional marriage…
When will you embrace the biblical view of work? The Bible notes that God created men and women to work, but President Obama apparently skipped that part of Genesis. By denigrating entrepreneurs and business owners, attacking industries and incentivizing long-term unemployment, President Obama has lowered labor participation and increased government dependency…
When will America lead in the Middle East? Fresh off his recent capitulation to Iranian nuclear ambition, President Obama relaxed the economic sanctions that crippled the Iranian regime and created space for Iran to pursue uranium enrichment for weaponization purposes, thereby strengthening its influence in the Middle East. American withdrawal in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt and Syria invites further religious persecution and Jihadist terror. The Pope would be wise to remind President Obama of America’s indispensable role as protector of human rights and human freedom.
Prominent indicators confirm that the U.S. is the chief facilitator of the persecution of Christians around the world today.
According to the recently released 2014 World Watch List, which ranks the 50 nations where Christians are most persecuted, Syria is the third worst nation in the world in which to be Christian, Iraq is fourth, Afghanistan fifth, and Libya 13th. All four countries receive the strongest designation, “extreme persecution” (other designations are “severe,” “moderate,” and “sparse” persecution).
Aside from being so closely and harshly ranked, these four nations have something else in common: heavy U.S. involvement. Three-Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya-were “liberated” thanks to U.S. forces, while in the fourth, Syria, the U.S. is actively sponsoring “freedom fighters” against the regime, many of whom would be better labeled “terrorists.”
The Syrian situation alone indicts U.S. foreign policy. According to Reuters:
“Open Doors, a non-denominational group supporting persecuted Christians worldwide, said on Wednesday it had documented 2,123 “martyr” killings, compared with 1,201 in 2012. There were 1,213 such deaths in Syria alone last year, it said. “This is a very minimal count based on what has been reported in the media and we can confirm,” said Frans Veerman, head of research for Open Doors. Estimates by other Christian groups put the annual figure as high as 8,000.”
While most Americans are shielded from the true nature of the war by the U.S. media’s reluctance to report on it, Arabic media, websites, and activists daily report and document atrocity after atrocity-beheadings and bombed churches, Christians slaughtered for refusing to convert to Islam, and countless abducted for ransom or rape-at the hands of those whom the U.S. supports…
The Blaze reports that Dr. David Curry, president of Open Doors, charged that the Obama administration has essentially declined to make the protection of religious minorities a priority . . . “There are many instances where the vacuum of leadership and spokesmanship has created a real problem,” said the human rights leader. “I would say that every significant data point on this year’s ‘2014 Watch List’ is worse-and I think a factor in it is a lack of leadership from Western governments including . . . the U.S. in terms of religious freedom.”
But it’s worse than that. http://www.christianpost.com/news/confirmed-the-united-states-is-the-chief-facilitator-of-christian-persecution-113061/
The world’s most ancient Christian communities are being destroyed — and no one cares Christians in the Middle East have been the victims of pogroms and persecution. Where’s the outrage in the West?…The Arab Spring, and to a lesser extent the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, were touted as the catalysts for a major historic shift in the region. From Egypt to Syria to Iraq, the Middle East’s dictatorships would be succeeded by liberal, democratic regimes. Years later, however, there is very little liberality or democracy to show. Indeed, what these upheavals have bequeathed to history is a baleful, and barely noticed legacy: The near-annihilation of the world’s most ancient communities of Christians.
The persecution of Christians throughout the Middle East, as well as the silence with which it has been met in the West, are the subject of journalist Ed West’s Kindle Single “The Silence of Our Friends.” The booklet is a brisk and chilling litany of horrors: Discriminatory laws, mass graves, unofficial pogroms, and exile. The persecuted are not just Coptic and Nestorian Christians who have relatively few co-communicants in the West, but Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants as well.
Throughout the Middle East the pattern is the same. Christians are murdered in mob violence or by militant groups. Their churches are bombed, their shops destroyed, and their homes looted. Laws are passed making them second-class citizens, and the majority of them eventually leave. http://theweek.com/article/index/255403/the-worlds-most-ancient-christian-communities-are-being-destroyed-mdash-and-no-one-cares
What has happened to the Copts, Nestorians, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholics, and others in Islamic and other lands (there has also been a lot of persecution in India) via persecution is wrong. Of course, I have never believed that Barack Obama was a true Christian.
The Obama Administration has taken steps against certain biblical beliefs and religious freedom in the USA, while, in the view of some, not taken sufficient steps to halt the persecution of those who profess Christ in lands around the world. Including Islamic lands where the USA has exerted significant military influence. This abandonment of moral leadership is sad.
Might the lessons of history teach us something here?
There was a ten year persecution from 303-313 A.D., unleashed by Roman Emperor Diocletian, that resulted in many deaths. During this time, a one warring leader was rising up. His name was Constantine and he halted the persecution at first by legalizing Christianity in the Roman Empire in 313 (known as the Edict of Milan, though some doubt an actual edict was issued then). But then later, in 332, Emperor Constantine issued his Edict Against Heretics, which resulted in the persecution of those who did not accept what I have referred to as “Constantinian Christianity.”
While I am not trying to indicate that the Obama Administration will take actions like Diocletian did, will the increased persecution of various ones that profess Christ also result in a leader, a new type of warring ’emperor’ over much of the lands of the old Roman Empire or so-called ‘Holy Roman Empire’ to rise up?
The Bible shows that a warring leader will arise (Revelation 13:4). It also teaches that while he (known as the Beast and the final King of the North) will come in with claims of peace, he will become a major persecutor of those who will not go along with his claimed version of Christianity. It will be worse than the Inquisition. Here are some passages from the Bible that discuss some of this:
21 And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue. (Daniel 11:21-22)
25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
For a time and times and half a time. (Daniel 7:25)4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”
5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (Revelation 13:4-10)
The current persecution of those that profess Christ around the world is wrong. Those who profess Christ, including US President Barack Obama, should speak out strongly against what is happening now.
The time is coming when persecution of the truly faithful will be more intense, worldwide, than we are seeing today.
