US Supreme Court rules against photographer with a religious conscience

The US Supreme Court essentially ruled against religious conscience today related to a wedding photographer:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal Monday from a studio that refused to photograph a lesbian couple’s commitment ceremony, letting stand a New Mexico high court ruling that helped spur a national debate over gay rights and religious freedom.

The justices left in place a unanimous state Supreme Court ruling last year that said Elane Photography violated New Mexico’s Human Rights Act by refusing to photograph the same-sex ceremony “in the same way as if it had refused to photograph a wedding between people of different races.”

Elane Photography co-owner Elaine Huguenin said taking the photos for Vanessa Willock and her partner would violate her religious beliefs. She said she also has a right of artistic expression under the First Amendment that allows her to choose what pictures to take, or refrain from taking. She was ordered to pay more than $7,000 in attorneys’ fees, which Willock waived.

The USA used to value religious freedom. There is no way that the founders of the USA or those that approved the Bill of Rights would have believed that business owners would ever be legally forced to violate their conscience and support homosexual marriage.

Notice the First Amendment to the US Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The so-called “Bill of Rights” is now a “bill of goods.” And while the political views of the judges have always affected its interpretation, there is no longer much semblance in what those that founded the USA claimed that they wanted and what is in place now.

In Canada, someone got fined years ago for quoting biblical verses like the following on a billboard:

22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (Leviticus 20:13)

49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit. (Ezekiel 16:49-50)

The USA is getting closer to Canada on this. Various parts of the Bible may be considered as “hate speech.” Which, of course, is something that the founders of the USA never intended.

Tolerance of the homosexual agenda is not something that people are supposed to encourage or endorse. We are getting close to the time (and in parts of the world it is already here) when the following prophecy will be fulfilled:

13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time. (Amos 5:13)

We are more and more living in an evil time. Those who profess a biblical standard of morality are being told, in the falsely labeled “land of the free,” that they are not allowed to live according to their beliefs.

Others should ask themselves, if this is what is happening in the USA now, what will later happen in their lands? A worse time, known as the Great Tribulation is coming (Matthew 24:21).
