Vatican promoting the memory of a false prophet with a new stamp

The Vatican, which makes money selling stamps, has announced a new stamp (shown above) to honor the Roman Catholic saint and false prophet Don, also known as John, Bosco. Here is some of what Zenit, a pro-Vatican news agency reported about it:

Vatican issues stamp commemorating St. John Bosco’s dream

(ZENIT News / Roma, 02.21.2024).- The Vatican Post Office announced the issuance of a commemorative stamp dedicated to the dream that Saint John Bosco had at the age of nine, coinciding with the bicentenary of this event. The issuance went on sale on February 19th and is available for both collections and enthusiasts. The stamp features an oil painting by the artist Mario Bogani from 1999, depicting the dream of the young John Bosco, who is taken by the hand by the Virgin Mary, with the presence of Jesus by his side. This dream profoundly marked the life of the saint and guided his future choices. The face value of the stamp will be 1.30 euros, and a sheet composed of nine stamps with a total face value of 11.70 euros will also be issued, all bearing the inscription “The Dream of Saint John Bosco” and the dates “1824” and “2024”. https://zenit.org/2024/02/21/vatican-issues-stamp-commemorating-st-john-boscos-dream/

John Bosco was a false prophet and a promoter of a false version of Mary. In 1825, when he was nine, Bosco had the first of a series of dreams which would play an influential role in his outlook and life.

While many believe he did a lot of charitable works, he had a variety of improper teachings, and some that came from his dreams/visions.

As far as him being a false prophet, notice one of his prophecies, involving turning people to ‘Mary’:

Giovanni Melchiorre Bosco also known as “Saint Don Bosco” (1862): Don Bosco said, “There will be chaos in the Church. Tranquility will not return until the Pope succeeds in anchoring the boat of Peter between the Twin Pillars of Eucharist Devotion and devotion to Our Lady. This will come about one year before the end of the century.” (Prediction made in 1862 for the end of the 20th century) (Flynn Ted and Mary. The Thunder of Justice. MaxKol Communications, Inc. Sterling (VA), 1993, p. A213).

This prophecy by the Roman Catholic saint Don Bosco did not come to pass when he said it would. Hence, he is a false prophet, yet he is still a Roman Catholic saint and one the Vatican honors. While God does use dreams for prophets (Numbers 12:6; see also Dreams, the Bible, the Radio Church of God, and the Continuing Church of God), God did not give Don Bosco that vision.

How do we know that?  Because the Bible teaches:

21 “And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’– 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

Thus, it should be clear that God did not speak though people such as Don/John Bosco. As far as the Eucharist goes, even Roman Catholic writings admit that a rounded host was not what original Christians used (see Marcus, the Marcosians, & Mithraism: Developers of the Eucharist?).

Satan and his demons influence people and may, however, have given Don Bosco one or more dreams that are going to come to pass.

In another of his “dreams” John Bosco claims that there will be battles against the Pope-led church ship, that one of the weapons used will be bad books, he also claims a new pope’s ship is anchored to Mary:

On May 30, 1862, after night prayers, Don Bosco related the following dream:

“There is a fleet of ships in battle array. They are armed with cannon, rifles, inflammable materials, and even books. They advance against another ship much larger then themselves and try to attack it in every possible way. (Russell L. Mary Help of Christians: Why Turn to Mary in Our Need? Lay Witness Magazine, May 1999. http://www.cuf.org/1999/05/mary-help-of-christians-why-turn-to-mary-in-our-need/ viewed 08/16/14)

Don Bosco: It seems to me that the Pope’s ship might mean the Church, of which he is the head…The two columns of salvation seem to be devotion to Mary Most Holy and to the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist…The enemy ships are persecutions. The most serious trials for the Church are near at hand … Her enemies are represented by the ships that tried to sink the principal ship if they could. Only two means are left to save her amidst so much confusion: DEVOTION TO MARY MOST HOLY and FREQUENT COMMUNION (Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth. Compiled and edited by J. Bacchiarello. Nihil Obstat: E. Gutierrez, S.D.B., August 21, 1969. Imprimatur + Stephen Ferrando, S.D.B., D.D., Bishop of Shillong, India, September 21, 1969. Reprint 1996, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1996, p. 210-211).

Don Bosco: The new Pope, putting the enemy to rout and overcoming every obstacle, guides the ship right up to the two columns and comes to rest between them; he makes it fast with a light chain that hangs from the bow to an anchor of the column on which stands the Host; and with another light chain which hangs from the stern, he fastens it at the opposite end to another anchor hanging from the column on which stands the Immaculate Virgin. (Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth.)

Could Pope Francis be that new pope anchored to ‘Mary’? Well, he is fairly “anchored to” his version of Mary (see also Pope Francis: Could this Marian Focused Pontiff be Fulfilling Prophecy?).

I should point out that while John Bosco pushed daily communion (which is supposed to be the Passover ceremony) the Bible shows that Passover was an annual event, history shows that the Romans supported a change of the date of Passover to Sunday, Roman Catholic practices now have an often daily reenactment. Yet the true  Church of God throughout history (and even today) teaches an annual, not frequent, Passover observance on the 14th of Nisan. Hence the above interpretation by the Roman Catholic Saint Bosco is in direct opposition to the COGs on that “FREQUENT COMMUNION” point. Furthermore, Mary is NOT a column of salvation as the Bible teaches that it is only the name of Jesus that salvation comes through (Acts 4:10-12). And this cultus Mary will apparently be something that the two witnesses will need to preach against–and this seems to be a warning against some who will tell the truth about Mary (see Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the Apparitions).

Like Pope Francis, Don Bosco wanted people to turn to ‘Mary.’  This is not biblical, though the Bible does warn about a ‘virgin’ who has signs:

1 Come down and sit in the dust,
O virgin daughter of Babylon;
Sit on the ground without a throne,
O daughter of the Chaldeans!
For you shall no more be called
Tender and delicate.
2 Take the millstones and grind meal.
Remove your veil,
Take off the skirt,
Uncover the thigh,
Pass through the rivers.
3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered,
Yes, your shame will be seen;
I will take vengeance,
And I will not arbitrate with a man.”

4 As for our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His name,
The Holy One of Israel.
5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness,
O daughter of the Chaldeans;
For you shall no longer be called
The Lady of Kingdoms. …

8 “Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures,Who dwell securely, Who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me; I shall not sit as a widow, Nor shall I know the loss of children’; 9 But these two things shall come to you In a moment, in one day: The loss of children, and widowhood. They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments.

10 “For you have trusted in your wickedness; You have said, ‘No one sees me’;Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you;And you have said in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’ 11 Therefore evil shall come upon you; You shall not know from where it arises. And trouble shall fall upon you;You will not be able to put it off.And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, Which you shall not know.

12 “Stand now with your enchantments And the multitude of your sorceries, In which you have labored from your youth — Perhaps you will be able to profit, Perhaps you will prevail. 13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels;Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, And the monthly prognosticators Stand up and save you From what shall come upon you. 14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, The fire shall burn them; They shall not deliver themselves From the power of the flame; It shall not be a coal to be warmed by, Nor a fire to sit before!  (Isaiah 47:1-5, 8-14)

In Roman Catholic circles, ‘Mary’ is often called “the virgin” and is sometimes called “the Lady of the Kingdoms.” A careful comparison of what this ‘Lady’ says with the Book of Revelation shows this woman is called a harlot in Revelation:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.  5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Revelation 17:1-5)

3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.  (Revelation 18:3-8)

Of course, Mary the mother of Jesus is not a harlot, etc. Yet, many are falsely looking for apparitions of ‘Mary’ to unite the world. Don/John Bosco is one of many leaders who has promoted false Marian worship/veneration.

Certain Roman Catholic prophecies indicate that some type of Marian image/apparition will be involved in insuring the Beast’s success over non-Greco-Roman Catholics:

R. Gerald Culleton (20th century): During the reign of the Great Monarch and the Angelic Pastor the Catholic Church will spread throughout the world, conversions will be innumerable…The Blessed Virgin will be the chief one in gaining victory over all heresy and schism because of her power over the demons in the last ages of the world will be especially great. This will be recognized by her enthronement as “Mistress and Queen of Men’s Hearts.”

St. Louis-Marie Grignion De Montfort (18th century): The power of Mary over all the devils will be particularly outstanding in the last period of time. She will extend the Kingdom of Christ over the idolaters and Moslems, and there will come glorious era when Mary is the Ruler and Queen of Hearts.

St. Louis De Montfort (died 1720): The training and education of the great saints, who will appear towards the end of the world, is reserved for the Mother of God…These great saints, full of grace and zeal, will be chosen in order to oppose the enemies of God who will appear everywhere. By their word and example these saints will bring the whole world to a true veneration of Mary.

Notice that this alleged “Mary” also has the power over the demons. As the Bible never indicates that the biblical Mary has this power, this is apparently a reference to a demonic manifestation/apparition claiming to be Mary. And notice that many are working for this apparition to put down those who oppose the extreme veneration of Mary.

Here is some of what the Roman Catholic academic Jean Guitton concluded in 1973 about what some of the apparitions were teaching:

One of the themes of Grignon de Monfort is that devotion to Mary would grow toward the end of time, that the progress of this cult would be a sign of the end times.

Also notice the following from Pope John Paul II:

Christ will be victorious by means of Her, because He wishes that the victories of the Church in the contemporary world and in the future will be united to Her.

The idea that “Mary” will be part of the end times is clearly within Roman Catholic literature, and was not limited to Don Bosco.

Promoting John Bosco means highlighting Marian apparitions and involvement and treating them as good–that is not a good thing and will help set people up for deception.

The Apostle Paul warned that in the end-times signs and wonders would deceive many:

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12).

Since the Bible warns about this in advance, you do not have to be deceived.

Notice also another prophecy from John Bosco from 1870:

Roman Catholic Priest and saint John Bosco (1870): War will come from the south, peace from the north. … But behold, a great warrior from the north appears, a banner in his right hand, his arm bearing this inscription: ‘Irresistible is the hand of the Lord. At that moment the Venerable Old Man of Rome went forward to meet him, wielding a flaming torch. The banner then grew larger and its blackness became white as snow; in its center stood out the name of the Almighty in golden letter. The warrior and his followers bowed profoundly to the Venerable Old Man and joined hands with him. (THE THREE PROPHECIES OF ST. JOHN BOSCO, given 1870. http://www.franciscan-archive.org/bosco/opera/bosco.html#12 viewed 08/16/14)

Yet, the Bible warns about a warrior from the north:

36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things.

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.  (Daniel 11:36-40)

Don Bosco is trying to indicate that the “warrior from the north” is a good leader to follow, yet the Bible clearly teaches against a northern warrior who will face the south. The Bible warns against a coming European Beast power (Revelation 13:1-10) and a false prophet (Revelation 13:11-17), yet Don Bosco’s “warrior from the north” and “Venerable Old Man of Rome” seem to possibly resemble them.

The truth is that I believe that demons have spoken to and responded to various priests/nuns/mystics, but I do believe that the purpose is to confuse people so that they will NOT believe what is in the Bible–especially to how it relates to end-time prophecy. And while not all of the visions are in error, no one should trust them beyond the Bible.

Don Bosco often promoted a false message. And the Vatican is doing that again with a postage stamp honoring him.
