Violence in Vietnam Affects Some Harold Camping May 21, 2011 Date Supporters
Harold Egbert Camping
Harold Camping predicted that Jesus would return in 1994 and also claimed the same thing for May 21, 2011, and when that was wrong, switched the return to October 21, 2011. He misled many. Some who he somewhat affected in Northern Vietnam apparently were killed:
After listening to a translation of Camping’s prediction 7,000 of these people (known in the West as Montagnards) gathered on a mountain praising God their suffering at the hands of the communist regime was about to end because Jesus was returning that day in May to establish a new kingdom,.
The police and military police slaughtered many of them at gunpoint – beheading two pastors. Others were arrested. I am told by Hmong pastors that so many were shot dead that they were buried in mass graves bulldozed over in an episode that I read about in Britain but did not understand the magnitude of until I got here.

Presuming the above account is true, it is sad that this happened. While Harold Camping did not personally cause the violence, it was always clear to me that many of his teachings were false and did not lead to life.
Harold Camping viewed (and still seems to view) his opinions above the plain teachings of the Bible. And that has been a problem with heretics, false prophets, and false leaders since the time of Simon Magus in the Book of Acts (Acts 8:5-25).
No one should accept traditions of men, including prophetic ones, that are in conflict with scripture. Harold Camping’s prophetic teachings were (and still are) in blatant contradiction to scripture. The last I could tell (I checked his website this morning), he is still in a nursing home (his website announcement is also in the article Harold Camping Now in a Nursing Home).
Harold Camping’s current prediction of Jesus returning on October 21, 2011 will also soon be shown to be false. Hopefully, none who actually believe his revised plan for October 21, 2011 will suffer a fate like that reported in Vietnam.
Despite false predictions (like the 21st of May and October 2011), Mayan prophecies, scoffers, and the assertions of many, Jesus will return.
And we are to look forward to His return as the Apostle Peter wrote. Jesus will return no earlier than 2018 (and probably later) as certain biblically-required steps have not yet happened (Daniel 9:27; cf. Matthew 24:15,21,29-30).
