Greek Orthodox at Vatican: “walk together, pray together and work together”, Pope asks them to do so

On the morning of Thursday, May 16th, Pope Francis received in audience the Director General of the Apostolikì Diakonia of the Greek Orthodox Church and a delegation from the Theological College of Athens. Below is the English translation of the Pope’s speech, originally delivered in Italian.

I am very pleased to welcome you and I thank you for your presence as we join in commemorating two decades of cooperation between the Apostolikí Diakonía of the Church of Greece and the Catholic Committee for Cultural Collaboration of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. I especially greet and thank His Eminence Metropolitan Agathanghelos, Director General of the Apostolikí Diakonía, who from the outset has been the inspiration and guiding force behind this collaboration. My thoughts also turn with fraternal affection to the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, a man of deep faith and a wise pastor with whom I have met on the occasion of my travels in Greece. I am deeply grateful for the support that he has given and continues to give to the activities jointly promoted by the Apostolikí Diakonía and the Catholic Committee for Cultural Collaboration.

By journeying together, working together and praying together, we prepare ourselves to receive from God the gift of unity that, as a fruit of the Holy Spirit, will be a communion and harmony in legitimate diversity.

Yes, Francis wants the Greek Orthodox, as well as other trinitarians, in unity with him.

Notice that the Bible teaches about a conspiracy that involves religious leaders:

23 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 24 “Son of man, say to her: ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’ 25 The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured people; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst. 26 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. 27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain. 28 Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord had not spoken. (Ezekiel 22:23-28)

Consider, also, that Pope Francis has deceptively claimed that those who do not support his ecumenical agenda are influenced by Satan (watch Pope Francis and the Devil’s Unity). Consider further that the Protestant Olav Fykse Tveit, who is the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, went so far as to falsely equate rejection of the ‘climate change’ agenda with blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (watch The ‘Unpardonable Sin’ and ‘Climate Change’?). These religious leaders are projecting a false vision to get people to profane God’s holy plan of salvation and to not know the difference between the holy and the unholy, the clean and the unclean!

Despite Francis’ meeting with some of its leaders, there are other Greek Orthodox leaders which have had concerns about the Vatican and Freemasonry. Notice something from 2014:

Your Excellency is a favorite of the Freemasons, who, according to their own publications, were anxiously awaiting your election and rejoiced when you were chosen! In a statement by the “Grand Master,” G. Raffi, he stresses that, “With Pope Francis, nothing will be as it was before. It is a clear choice of fraternity for a Church of dialogue, which is not contaminated by the logic and temptations of temporal power. He is a man of the poor, far away from the Curia. Fraternity and the desire to dialogue were his first concrete words. Perhaps nothing in the Church will be as it was before. The simple cross he wore on his white cassock lets us hope that a Church of the people will re-discover its capacity to dialogue with all men of good will and with Freemasonry, which, as the experience of Latin America teaches us, works for the good and progress of humanity!” So here is the heart of the matter: “dialogue with all men of good will,” which means an intensifying of ecumenism! Are you not aware, Your Excellency, that Freemasonry promotes, through Ecumenism, the universal religion of Lucifer, as well as the fact that the source and womb of Freemasonry is the hideous International Zionism?…

Freemasonry is “pagan cult worship, an adversary of the pure Orthodox Catholic Church.” That is to say, it is clearly an antichristian and pagan religion. The Masons are “Satan worshipers and luciferists, followers of the religion of Antichrist.”…

There can exist no form of compromise between Orthodoxy and Papism, neither with its older nor its modern spirit, nor with its idolatry…

The above from Greek Orthodox leaders contained a lot of anti-Rome statements, not just anti-Masonic ones (to see more, check out the article Why Should American Catholics Fear Unity with the Orthodox? (And the Protestants).

That said, a decade after the complaints from some Greek Orthodox leaders, the Vatican still is working with the Freemasons.

Freemasons and Vatican Officials Seek Cooperation

On February 16, 2024, some high-level clergy of the Roman Catholic Church in Italy met with three Grand Masters of the Freemasons. Since the Vatican has prohibited its members from being Freemasons, why might this be? Are there related ‘globalist’ interests? Do the Freemasons assert that Pope Francis’ encyclical Fratelli Tutti (Brothers All), saying the Church had finally embraced “universal fraternity” is in line with “the great principle of modern Freemasonry”? Are there any biblical reasons to consider that the Church of Rome and the Freemasons may cooperate? What is Freemasonry according to the Freemasons? Could at least one of the kings mentioned in Revelation 17:12 be a Freemason or at least have ties to it? Are there any scriptures that suggest that the Freemasons may betray the Church of Rome? Destruction will hit Rome, and the Freemasons in Europe may well be major supporters of that.

Real Christians, however, are not to be ignorant of Satan’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Satan will one day, in my opinion, exploit the historical animosity between the Masons and the Vatican.
