The ECB? It exists in the same economic world as the rest of us. But being a committee of 19 national members makes it rather unwieldy. …
But the real problem is the ECB are still a-dither on how to tell the Germans they’re going to be paying for Italian pensions after all. The key for the ECB holding Yoorp together is avoiding the “fragmentation” of Southern European sovereign credit spreads. We don’t know how their new “anti-fragmentation instrument” will do it – and neither do they, yet. They held an emergency ECB meeting to agree to agree about talking about it.
(And yes, I use the world “credit” deliberately because they are not sovereign issuers. All Euro members are using a currency they don’t have financial sovereignty over. Having a vote at a table of 19 members is not the same thing.)

The European Central Bank has announced that it plans to create a new tool to tackle the risk of eurozone fragmentation, which is the new term for divergence among member states. They are adopting this tactic out of fears of a new European debt crisis that is inevitable. From the very beginning when the EU Commission was charged with designing the Euro came to our conference in London in 1997, I warned that the promises that everyone would be paying the same rate of interest merely because they were creating a single currency was a complete fantasy. I further warned that this would lead to the collapse of the Euro if not the entire EU. …

It is possible that there will be a European debt crisis in 2023 or 2024.
Interestingly, the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, had a view about banking matters and European unity. Here is something he said in a sermon on July 7, 1984:
And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…
But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger…that is the economic situation in the world…
The whole banking structure in the United States is a network all jointed together. But not only that, one nation has to deal with other nations and imports and exports. And so they have to have a means of transforming money from one nation to another. And so the banking structure is international and interwoven…
Now when the financial structure breaks down, all civilization is going to break down…
So, an economic or banking crisis is what Herbert W. Armstrong concluded would drive Europe to unite.
But that was not the only thing he thought would be factors.
Notice something he wrote in 1961;
I quote from the October 16 U.S. News: “Germany, divided visibly, …is developing new doubts … about the U.S. Germans hold the key to West Europe.” Khrushchev won’t start actual total nuclear war now—but his threats are doing two things: 1) frightening Germany and France and all western Europe; and 2) causing western Europe nations to LOSE CONFIDENCE in ability or certainty of U.S. to protect them from Russia. This is HASTENING the development of the six-nation Common Market into a TEN-nation political-military-economic EMPIRE. Such a U.S. of Europe could soon be stronger than Russia. United, these European nations can protect themselves from Russia. They will make a DEAL with the U.S.S.R.—a non-aggression pact. More and more in Europe are losing confidence in the USA. Yes, Europe will make a deal with Russia.
Now, notice something that Herbert W. Armstrong wrote in 1976:
It would mean UNION once again of church and state in Europe. It would mean a common currency for a union of ten nations in Europe. It could mean one military force, which would be as strong—possibly more so—as the U.S.A. or the U.S.S.R.
The loss of Europe’s faith in America to protect her from the Soviet Union is another trend leading directly to such an eventuality as I have described.

Well, now there is a European Union–not just fully united, but one exists. Furthermore, Europe does have its own currency. And yes, fears from Russia (who was the dominant nation in the old USSR) have pushed Europe to decide to increase its military. although the Vatican has been supporting a united Europe, we do not see the type of church-state alliance that is coming, yet.
However, if the Vatican bails out Europe financially, which it may well do, that may be a factor in it gaining more influence in Europe.

Back in 1979, the late Herbert W. Armstrong claimed that the Great Tribulation would begin with a nuclear attack against the UK and/or USA and then Canada. Notice:

That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). While we are starting to see a united Europe, as well as a Europe working on its military (see With PESCO, EU entering a ‘New Era’: An era that will NOT end well for the USA, Canada, or the UK), Europe already really has a lot of nuclear weapons that it could use to do this or something similar.
When my wife and I first visited the Netherlands in 1983, we learned that some there were upset that American nuclear weapons were expected to end up being stored there. And this nuclear weapons storage did happen.
Notice something reported by Time:
Is Italy capable of delivering a thermonuclear strike? Could the Belgians and the Dutch drop hydrogen bombs on enemy targets? And what about Germany — a country where fear of atomkraft is so great that the last government opposed all civilian nuclear power? Germany’s air force couldn’t possibly be training to deliver bombs 13 times more powerful than the one that destroyed Hiroshima, could it?
It is Europe’s dirty secret that the list of nuclear-capable countries extends beyond those that have built their own weapons — Britain, France and Russia. The truth is that Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands store nuclear bombs on their air-force bases and have planes capable of delivering them. There are an estimated 200 B-61 thermonuclear-gravity bombs scattered across these four countries. Under a NATO agreement struck during the Cold War, the bombs, which are owned by the U.S., can be transferred to the control of a host nation’s air force in time of conflict. According to Global Research out of Canada, the amount of nuclear weapons could be higher than the Time article indicated:
The US has supplied some 480 B61 thermonuclear bombs to five so-called “non-nuclear states”, including Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey. Casually disregarded by the Vienna based UN Nuclear Watchdog (IAEA), the US has actively contributed to the proliferation of nuclear weapons in Western Europe…
Among the five “undeclared nuclear states”, “Germany remains the most heavily nuclearized country with three nuclear bases (two of which are fully operational) and may store as many as 150 [B61 bunker buster ] bombs” (Ibid). In accordance with “NATO strike plans” (mentioned above) these tactical nuclear weapons are also targeted at the Middle East.
While Germany is not categorized officially as a nuclear power, it produces nuclear warheads for the French Navy. It stockpiles nuclear warheads (made in America) and it has the capabilities of delivering nuclear weapons. Moreover, The European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company – EADS , a Franco-German-Spanish joint venture, controlled by Deutsche Aerospace and the powerful Daimler Group is Europe’s second largest military producer, supplying .France’s M51 nuclear missile.
Germany imports and deploys nuclear weapons from the US. It also produces nuclear warheads which are exported to France. Yet it is classified as a non-nuclear state. (Chassudovsky M. - Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy and possibly Belgium are planning to buy the nuclear-capable F35-A Joint Strike Fighter from the United States, which will begin replacing existing NATO aircraft in 2024. Treaty Commitments

Anyway, this has been called “nuclear sharing,” but the reality is that the nuclear weapons are available to Europe.
Here is some information about France:
France Most of its nuclear warheads are deployed on submarines equipped with M45 and M51 missiles. One boat is on patrol at all times. Some warheads are also deliverable by aircraft. 300 warheads http://www.icanw.org/the-facts/nuclear-arsenals/
The reality is that if Europe chooses to turn against the USA, it has the nuclear ability to do so pretty much any time. Europe is also, at least partially in reaction to Donald Trump and his Administration, increasing military spending and independence.
The Bible shows that Europe will have a “great army” (Daniel 11:25; watch also PESCO and a Great European Army) and a conquering empire with “many ships” (cf. Daniel 11:29-43).
Of course, some believe that despite WWI, WWII, and previous massive wars, that Europe would never start WWIII. Yet, this overlooks a biblical prophecy:
5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? (Isaiah 10:5-11, KJV)
The USA is sometimes prophetically referred to as Samaria (and sometimes as Manasseh) in biblical prophecy (for details, watch USA in Prophecy: Samaria). So, even though Germanic-led Europe (referred to as Assyria above) does not seem to wish to do this (Isaiah 10:7), according to biblical prophecy it will come to pass. The USA will be defeated (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
Notice that the Bible tells of a coming time of massive devastation:
23 ‘The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and His wrath.’ (Deuteronomy 29:23-24)
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts
The land is burned up,
And the people shall be as fuel for the fire; No man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand
And be hungry;
He shall devour on the left hand
And not be satisfied; Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm. 21 Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh; Together they shall be against Judah (Isaiah 9:19-21, NKJV).
The above descriptions are consistent with a nuclear or similar attack. Manasseh represents the USA and Ephraim its British-descended allies (see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel). THIS HAS NOT YET HAPPENED IN HISTORY AND IS A PROPHECY FOR OUR TIME.
It is my view that Europe will likely attack the USA and/or the UK under the guise of a NATO (or some other defense treaty) exercise and use nuclear bombers. And yes, German-dominated Europe would be willing to use USA nuclear bombs against the USA, UK, and Canada!
While now is not the time–“the end it not yet” (Matthew 24:6; see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?)–the Germans and others in Europe have access to nuclear weaponry and other technology, to make this come to pass.

And so they will no longer have to give in meekly to Russia! And WHO WILL THEY BLAME for their humiliation and their necessity NOW to have a UNITED EUROPE, with a united GOVERNMENT, a COMMON CURRENCY, and a COMMON MILITARY FORCE AS GREAT OR GREATER THAN EITHER THE U.S.S.R. OR THE U.S.A.? They will blame the United States! And when they are strong enough to assert themselves, they will first attack Britain for standing firm with the U.S., and then they will return a lot of hydrogen bombs the U.S. has stored now in Europe! Yes, fear of Russia is a factor in Europe now rearming.
Yes, the Europeans have tended to blame the United States for many things–and the USA will be blamed even more.
And yes, Europe does have access to USA nuclear weapons that are stored in Europe.
But Europe is not ready to attack the USA–yet!
That will not happen until a major reorganization that is prophesied to happen and push Europe under totalitarian control:
12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)
One or more financial crises, loss of confidence with the USA, immigrant issues, trade matters, religion, signs and lying wonders, and another pandemic look to be factors that will bring about the change in Europe and the end of the USA and its British-descended allies.
Herbert W. Armstrong understood about a lot of this.
The world we have known has changed and is changing.
