The Snowden Leaks are Leading to the Destruction of the USA

By COGwriter

In May of 2013, news reports came up that Edward Snowden disclosed classified details of several top secret United States, Israeli, and British government mass surveillance programs to the press. Edward Snowden was/is a computer specialist. He is also a former CIA employee and National Security Agency (NSA) contractor.

Basically, Edward Snowden revealed that the government of the USA was collecting more data on US citizens, European citizens, South American citizens, and various governmental leaders than various leaders associated with the USA government had indicated. In essence, his disclosures showed that some lied about the degree and depth of USA espionage.

These leaks caused domestic and international outrage.

Is the outrage over years later?

Can this have any impact on the future of the USA? Will these disclosures help lead to the destruction of the USA? What have been the responses from world leaders? And most importantly, what does Bible prophecy teach? (There is also a YouTube video Will USA Spying Help the Beast Power?)

Europeans Furious, and German Europeans More So

As more information became known about US spying, many in Europe were outraged. Notice a few news reports from the same day:

Europe furious, ‘shocked’ by report of U.S. spying

June 30, 2013

CNN)– European officials reacted with fury Sunday after a report that the U.S. National Security Agency spied on EU offices.

The European Union warned that if the report is accurate, it will have tremendous repercussions.

“I am deeply worried and shocked about the allegations,” European Parliament President Martin Schulz said in a statement. “If the allegations prove to be true, it would be an extremely serious matter which will have a severe impact on EU-US relations. On behalf of the European Parliament, I demand full clarification and require further information speedily from the U.S. authorities with regard to these allegations.”…

The German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that “the U.S. placed bugs in the EU representation in Washington and infiltrated its computer network. Cyberattacks were also perpetrated against Brussels in New York and Washington.”  http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/30/world/europe/eu-nsa/

June 30, 2013

BERLIN — Senior European lawmakers say they are shocked at reports that U.S. intelligence agents bugged EU offices on both sides of the Atlantic.

The president of the European Parliament said he was “deeply worried and shocked about the allegations of U.S. authorities spying on EU offices” made in a report published Sunday by German news weekly Der Spiegel.

Martin Schulz said if the reports were confirmed “it would be an extremely serious matter which will have a severe impact on EU-U.S. relations.”…

A top German official accused the United States on Sunday of using “Cold War” methods against its allies, after a German magazine cited secret intelligence documents to claim that U.S. spies bugged European Union offices.

Justice Minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger was responding to a report by German news weekly Der Spiegel, which claimed that the U.S. National Security Agency eavesdropped on EU offices in Washington, New York and Brussels. The magazine cited classified U.S. documents taken by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that it said it had partly seen.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/30/germany-bugging_n_3524755.html

(Reuters) – The United States taps half a billion phone calls, emails and text messages in Germany in a typical month and has classed its biggest European ally as a target similar to China, according to secret U.S. documents quoted by a German newsmagazine…

The document Spiegel cited showed that the United States categorized Germany as a “third-class” partner and that surveillance there was stronger than in any other EU country, similar in extent to China, Iraq or Saudi-Arabia.

“We can attack the signals of most foreign third-class partners, and we do it too,” Der Spiegel quoted a passage in the NSA document as saying…

On an average day, the NSA monitored about 20 million German phone connections and 10 million internet data sets, rising to 60 million phone connections on busy days, the report said…

Only Canada, Australia, Britain and New Zealand were explicitly exempted from spy attacks.  http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/30/us-usa-germany-spying-idUSBRE95T04B20130630

May 2, 2014

The uncomfortable issue of NSA spying on America’s allies is sure to come up when Germany’s Angela Merkel and Obama meet Friday…

When Obama invited Merkel to Washington earlier this year, she said pointedly that the process of reestablishing trust would take “more than one trip.” Germany has pressed for a “no-spy” accord with the US like the one the US has with Britain and a few other English-speaking allies...

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had been invited for what would have been the only state visit to the Obama White House last year. But with Brazilians still furious over revelations of US spying in their country, Ms. Rousseff called off the visit. US-Brazilian relations have not recovered since.

Merkel also faces heightened anti-American sentiments at home, German experts note.  http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Foreign-Policy/2014/0502/Merkel-s-White-House-test-suppress-anger-over-NSA-to-show-unity-on-Ukraine

German lawmakers decide to quiz Snowden

May 8, 2014

Reuters) – German lawmakers decided on Thursday they want to question former U.S. intelligence contractor Edward Snowden as part of a parliamentary inquiry into the mass surveillance of German citizens, which he exposed.

“A majority of the committee has decided that we want to hear Mr. Snowden,” said Roderich Kiesewetter, the conservative head of the committee set up to investigate the activities in Germany of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA).

It has not yet been decided whether Snowden, who was granted asylum in Russia, should be invited to testify in person about the NSA surveillance that has soured ties between Washington and Berlin. Snowden risks being arrested and extradited if he sets foot in any U.S.-allied country…

An option would be for him to testify from abroad but the German opposition argues that Snowden would only be able to express himself freely if he were in Germany.

Angela Merkel’s conservatives have so far rejected this, fearing that bringing Snowden to Berlin could further damage relations with Washington which have suffered from revelations that U.S. spies had tapped the German chancellor’s own phone.

The center-left Social Democrats (SPD), who share power with Merkel’s conservatives in a ‘grand coalition’, have said they are open to questioning Snowden in Germany or Russia.  http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/05/08/us-germany-spying-snowden-idUSBREA470FV20140508

Germans and others do not like to be considered to be 'third class' partners. They will remember this.

NSA Spying: The world is laughing at the naive EU leaders

| Posted: 2:07:13, 12:35 | Updated: 2:07:13, 00:50 |

The rulers of Europe were obviously extremely naive: How could it happen that the U.S. install a bug in the middle of the EU embassy in Washington?…

Divide and rule – according to this principle, the Americans went in scrutinizing EU ago by the NSA. With the code name “Dropmire” a bug was smuggled into the EU encrypted fax message…

A central question is how the EU could be so stupid as to leave to join the Americans a bug to the central fax. http://deutsche-wirtschafts-nachrichten.de/2013/07/02/nsa-spionage-die-welt-lacht-ueber-die-naiven-eu-fuehrer/

What, exactly, is the purpose of the National Security Agency? Security, as its name might suggest? No matter in what system or to what purpose: A monitored human being is not a free human being. And every state that systematically contravenes human rights, even in the alleged service of security, is acting criminally...unexpected flare-up of American imperialism serves as a reminder of the necessity for Europe. Does anyone seriously believe that Obama will ensure the chancellor and her interior minister that the American authorities will respect the rights of German citizens in the future? Only Europe can break the American fantasy of omnipotence. One option would be for Europe to build its own system of networks to prevent American surveillance. Journalist Frank Schirrmacher of the respected Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper recommended that over the weekend. http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/europe-must-stand-up-to-american-cyber-snooping-a-906250.html

Notice that some in Germany believe that the EU has been stupid in overly trusting the USA.  Notice that the Germans are incensed with both the USA and the UK.  Many Germans will long remember this and decide that they will always have to mistrust the USA, despite future assurances by the USA. And they want their own espionage system (cf. Revelation 13:15-18).

Snowden travels trace a path of government hypocrisy

Edward Snowden’s global travels have highlighted the chasm between the political posturing and actual practices of governments when it comes to free expression. As is well known now, the former government contractor’s leaks exposed the widespread phone and digital surveillance being conducted by the U.S. National Security Agency, practices at odds with the Obama administration’s positioning of the United States as a global leader on Internet freedom and its calls for technology companies to resist foreign demands for censorship and surveillance.  http://www.cpj.org/blog/2013/06/snowden-travels-trace-a-path-of-government-hypocri.php

Bible prophecy warns about a peoples, who are now based in the German-dominated regions of Europe that will rise up in the end time and takeover "an hypocritical nation" (Isaiah 10:6, KJV) even though the leaders there do not think that they would (Isaiah 10:7-11):

5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. 6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. 8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols? (Isaiah 10:5-11, KJV)

(The part of the prophecy that names Samaria is a reference to the USA. As far as Assyia, please check out the article Germany's Assyrian Roots Throughout History there is also a You-Tube video sermon on this titled Germany's Biblical Origins.) The Snowden disclosures have shown that the USA is a hypocritical ally and the Europeans will remember this.

The Anglo-Nations Were Exempted

As mentioned before, it is only the Anglo-descended nations that the USA has specifically exempted from”spy attacks.” Notice:

According to an NSA document dated September 2010, only a few countries labeled as close friends by the U.S. are explicitly exempted from monitoring – Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. http://www.voanews.com/content/germany-calls-allegations-of-us-bugging-unacceptable/1692522.html

And that is what an NSA document from 2010 made clear--only the Anglo-nations are trusted and close friends. European leaders do not like this and will long remember this.

What many Europeans want is that the USA will treat them the same way they treat the Anglo-nations, which have been called the “five eyes”:

Confronted with European fury at US spying, Washington is divided over whether its allies’ anger is genuine or a calculation that they can use the revelations to change the terms of intelligence sharing and targeting….

Underlying the debate over Ms Merkel are longstanding and deep tensions over intelligence sharing between the US and European nations such as Germany and France.

The US has for decades, and with few interruptions, shared intelligence with four other countries, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, under the so-called “five eyes” agreement which includes a proviso that they do not spy on each other.

“Germany and France have long resented this special relationship in intelligence,” said Tim Naftali, of the New America Foundation. “But the question is whether [France and Germany] would be able to accept the co-ordination of their foreign policies that comes along with the agreement.”

When intelligence agencies discuss targeting they are giving away what they know, said Mr Naftali. “Is the US prepared to do that across the board with France and Germany?” http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/b9fc90ae-3ff4-11e3-a890-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2j7WaaEUy

The United Kingdom – United States of America Agreement (UKUSA,…is a multilateral agreement for cooperation in signals intelligence between the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The alliance of intelligence operations is also known as Five Eyes (FVEY). (Wikipedia, viewed 10/19/2013)

The reality is that the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are more trustworthy as far as the USA goes than continental Europe. The five eyes agreement came shortly after World War II and has been in effect since.  So much so, that the NSA excluded that non-USA nations from its surveillance–but Germany, who later had some involvement with the agreement, got spied on more by the NSA than many countries with no direct connection to the UKUSA Agreement (Germany: USA is engaged in ‘cold war’ against us, Europe furious).

Continental Europe wants to be fully admitted into this Five Eyes club.  And while those there do not normally think that they will wish to destroy the USA (cf. Isaiah 10:7), the Bible shows that ultimately a primarily continental European power will (Isaiah 10:5-12; Daniel 11:39).

The Europeans Want More Espionage Information and the USA Has Agreed to Provide It

According to a German source (the following was machine-translated into English from German), the USA will give the Europeans a lot of information:

Obama promises EU all the information

Given the outrage over the U.S. spy in Europe, the U.S. president tried to relax. He also justified for intelligence operations.  http://www.zeit.de/politik/ausland/2013-07/snowden-brief-usa-prozess

I should also add that another German news source basically said that Americans like ‘big brother’ to take care of their security, and hinted that the Americans were hypocritical.  This does not bode well for the USA (cf. Isaiah 10:5-6, KJV; Daniel 11:39).

The Germans are very upset about what seems to have happened.

The USA then further offended the Germans and others when it was learned that government officials were subject to having their cell phone conversations listened to. The Europeans are not happy:

24 October 2013

An EU summit is due to begin in Brussels with fresh allegations of US spying threatening to overshadow talks.

It comes a day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel called President Barack Obama over claims that the US had monitored her mobile phone.

France’s President Francois Hollande is pressing for the issue to be put on the agenda following reports that millions of French calls had been monitored.

EU leaders will also discuss Europe’s economic recovery and immigration

BBC Europe Editor Gavin Hewitt says some leaders are likely to want to use the summit to demand further clarification from Washington over the activities of its National Security Agency (NSA) in Europe.

The US is being called to account by its allies over allegations of spying based on material said to originate from fugitive American leaker Edward Snowden.

Mrs Merkel says she wants US officials to clarify the extent of their surveillance in Germany. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24647602

While German Chancellor Merkel was outraged before, she is now even more incensed to learn that the USA allegedly was listening to her cell phone calls:

The furore over the scale of American mass surveillance revealed by Edward Snowden shifted to an incendiary new level on Wednesday evening when Angela Merkel of Germany called Barack Obama to demand explanations over reports that the US National Security Agency was monitoring her mobile phone.

Merkel was said by informed sources in Germany to be “livid” over the reports and convinced, on the basis of a German intelligence investigation, that the reports were utterly substantiated.

The German news weekly, Der Spiegel, reported an investigation by German intelligence, prompted by research from the magazine, that produced plausible information that Merkel’s mobile was targeted by the US eavesdropping agency. The German chancellor found the evidence substantial enough to call the White House and demand clarification.

The outrage in Berlin came days after President François Hollande of France also called the White House to confront Obama with reports that the NSA was targeting the private phone calls and text messages of millions of French people.  http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/23/us-monitored-angela-merkel-german

While normal people in the USA can really do little about the intense spying and data collection that the USA government does, the European nations can get the USA to change and to disclose more.

Wikileaks reported that the espionage has been going on for a long time:

July 8, 2015

The U.S. National Security Agency tapped phone calls involving German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her closest advisers for years and spied on the staff of her predecessors, WikiLeaks said on Wednesday. A report released by the group suggested NSA spying on Merkel and her staff had gone on far longer and more widely than previously realized. WikiLeaks said the NSA targeted for long-term surveillance 125 phone numbers of top German officials.

The release risks renewing tensions between Germany and the United States a month after they sought to put a row over spying behind them, with U.S. President Barack Obama declaring in Bavaria that the two nations were “inseparable allies”.

WikiLeaks published what it said were three NSA intercepts of Merkel’s conversations, and data it said listed telephone numbers for the chancellor, her aides, her office and even her fax machine.  http://www.aol.com/article/2015/07/08/u-s-spy-agency-tapped-german-chancellery-for-decades-wikileaks/21206917/?icid=maing-grid7%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl6%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D26837189

The Europeans are more and more realizing that the USA does not consider the EU to be a friend, and hence the EU will more and more conclude that the USA is an enemy.

And the solution?

Give the Europeans all the information that they want about this, plus assurances that the USA will not continue spying on them, plus share other information. This basically was confirmed by US Secretary of State John Kerry in November 2013:

November 5, 2013

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says the Obama administration will work more closely with allies to overcome privacy concerns raised by the revelation of U.S. intelligence operations in Europe. In Poland, Kerry discussed the spy scandal and efforts to end Syria’s civil war.

Kerry says the Obama administration welcomes the opportunity to discuss concerns raised by the disclosure of U.S. eavesdropping as Washington and its European allies are all trying to balance the protection and privacy of their citizens.

“Ultimately if we get it right, which we will, we can not only alleviate concerns but we can actually strengthen our intelligence relationships going forward, and we can all be more secure and safer as a result as well as protecting the privacy of citizens,” he said.  http://www.voanews.com/content/kerry-us-to-work-closely-with-allies-over-surveillance-concerns/1783733.html

This is not 'intelligence strenthening'--the Europeans are very angry--this is appeasement.

The ramifications of this are staggering. Appeasement does not have a great track record in preventing wars as those who followed Nevil Chamberlain will remember.  But appeasement is what the USA appears to be trying to do.

Angela Merkel is not truly appeased:

December 16, 2013

BERLIN — Nearly two months after President Obama assured Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany that the United States would never again target her cellphone, a broader effort to build a new intelligence relationship with Germany is floundering, with each side increasingly reluctant to make major changes in how it deals with the other...

But as Mr. Obama considers his options, the effort to repair the damage to the United States’ relationship with Germany appears to have stumbled. American officials have so far refused to pull back from electronic spying in the country, save for Ms. Merkel’s own communications, even though German officials argue that the United States is violating German law...

Another person familiar with the conversation said Ms. Merkel had told Mr. Obama that she was particularly angry that, based on the disclosures, “the N.S.A. clearly couldn’t be trusted with private information, because they let Snowden clean them out.”

American officials said that the German accounts accurately captured the spirit of the heated conversation, but that the quotations given by German officials were more direct and pointed than what was actually said. But the exchange set the tone for a dialogue between Washington and Berlin that has only underscored how differently the two countries see the issue. United States officials talk about conducting surveillance, whether of adversaries or allies, to protect American interests; German officials emphasize the importance of reaffirming the alliance. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/17/world/europe/us-germany-intelligence-partnership-falters-over-spying.html?pagewanted=1&_r=0

The statements from US Secretary of State Kerry provide further support of my assessment that the USA will help Europe by giving it strategic advantages against the USA when someone there decides war against the USA needs to happen (Isaiah 10:5-11).  This will not bode well for the USA in the long run–this sharing of intelligence will help the coming European Beast power takeover the land that had the strongest military/fortresses in the world (cf. Daniel 11:39).  These espionage matters are that important.

I have long warned that I believed that the USA would share too much of its military information with the Europeans and that this would be a factor in the eventual European takeover of the USA.  While the USA does have a tendency to excessively spy, it may very well be that it does believe that the Germans are working on projects that the USA considers to be militarily dangerous to the USA.  Yet few Americans consider that any real threat will come from Germany and Europe.  But according to biblical prophecy the final Beast power (Revelation 13; Daniel 11) will arise in Europe, and this will result in the takeover of the USA and its Anglo-descended allies (cf. Daniel 11:39).

The government of the USA seems to believe that it has the right and obligation to spy on anyone anytime for any reason. It should not be too surprised that it sometimes gets caught and called out for its ‘big brother’ tactics.

Now that the USA has been somewhat caught for its cyber-espionage (even if the report on German spying is not confirmed, other USA espionage efforts have recently been publicly confirmed), it may decide that additional disclosure of its espionage is its best move to attempt to placate the wrath of the Germans and other Europeans.  If so, this would also seem to pave the way for additional military disclosures to the Europeans.

And, presuming that this espionage disclosure is true, this will truly upset Europe’s relationship with the USA.  No matter what the USA does it will not truly be able to erase what it allegedly did from the memories of the German/European leadership.

As far as the USA goes, various leaders have declared what the USA has done is either illegal or unconstitutional. But the USA seems to believe that it must do it to insure its survival:

Notice something from the Washington Post:

December 23, 2013

Snowden agreed to reflect at length on the roots and repercussions of his choice…

“All I wanted was for the public to be able to have a say in how they are governed,” he said. “That is a milestone we left a long time ago. Right now, all we are looking at are stretch goals.”...

In the view of the NSA, signals intelligence, or electronic eavesdropping, was a matter of life and death, “without which America would cease to exist as we know it,” according to an internal presentation in the first week of October 2001 as the agency ramped up its response to the al-Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon…

Using PRISM, the cover name for collection of user data from Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Apple and five other U.S.-based companies, the NSA could obtain all communications to or from any specified target. The companies had no choice but to comply with the government’s request for data.

But the NSA could not use PRISM, which was overseen once a year by the surveillance court, for the collection of virtually all data handled by those companies. To widen its access, it teamed up with its British counterpart, Government Communications Headquarters, or GCHQ, to break into the private fiber-optic links that connected Google and Yahoo data centers around the world.

That operation, which used the cover name MUSCULAR, tapped into U.S. company data from outside U.S. territory. The NSA, therefore, believed it did not need permission from Congress or judicial oversight.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/edward-snowden-after-months-of-nsa-revelations-says-his-missions-accomplished/2013/12/23/49fc36de-6c1c-11e3-a523-fe73f0ff6b8d_story.html

So, for over a dozen years, USA officials have believed that without the massive surveillance programs that have been being put in place that America would cease to exist as we know it.  America as the land of the free, however, has ceased to exist.  Furthermore, notice that what NSA, etc. wanted to do was to get around restrictions on what they could do, so they set something else up to do that which it knew it was prohibited to do.

I would suggest that the ramifications of the Snowden leaks are that it will be easier for America to cease to exist.  Period.  Much of the world has been outraged by the revelations about what the USA and UK have been doing.  This will hurt the USA economically and militarily.

The USA later was caught in another action against Germany:

July 7, 2014

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday allegations that a German man worked as a double agent for U.S. intelligence were serious and, if true, were a clear contradiction of what cooperation between partners is supposed to be about.

The case threatens to further strain ties with Washington, which have been sorely tested by revelations last year of large-scale snooping on Germany by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), including the alleged monitoring of Merkel's cell phone.

"If the reports are correct it, would be a serious case," said Merkel, speaking at a news conference on a visit to Beijing. "If the allegations are true, it would be for me a clear contradiction as to what I consider to be trusting cooperation between agencies and partners."

The White House and State Department have so far declined to comment on the arrest of a 31-year-old employee of Germany's BND foreign intelligence agency.

German prosecutors said the man allegedly handed over 218 documents between 2012 and 2014.

German media, without naming sources, have reported he was an employee of Germany's foreign intelligence service who said he sold his services to the U.S.

The comments marked the chancellor's first public remarks on the arrest last week of the 31-year-old man suspected of being a double agent.  http://www.voanews.com/content/merkel-speaks-on-alleged-double-agent/1952060.html

The Europeans in general, and Germans in particular, will not forget this. They are realizing that the USA is not truly their friend.

Notice also:

July 13, 2014

It was in Berlin in 2008 that then Senator Obama unveiled his global promise – an America that could once again be trusted. Germans no longer believe it. In the wake of the “friendly spying” ring allegations, less than 40 per cent of Germans consider the US a trustworthy partner, according to one survey. ...

Senior German figures cannot agree whether Mr Obama was unaware of Washington’s double agents, or dissembling. Either way, when Mr Obama spoke to Angela Merkel the day before the initial revelations he did not raise it. It was enough to make you want to cry, said Wolfgang Schäuble, the finance minister. Never before has a close US ally expelled a CIA station chief. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/f0776136-08ee-11e4-9d3c-00144feab7de.html

This is a serious problem, but it will not simply be forgotten by the Germans after Barack Obama is no longer the USA president (see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

Notice also the following:

July 14, 2014

In trampling on German civil liberties, the Obama administration is besmirching America's image and allowing Germans to feel morally superior to their former conqueror.

If Obama is unable to rein in spying on Germany, he may discover that he is helping to convert it from an ally into an adversary. For Obama to say auf Wiedersehen to a longtime ally would deliver a blow to American national security that no amount of secret information could possibly justify. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-heilbrunn-u-s--germany-relations-20140711-story.html

To try to compensate for some of this, the USA placed a German general in charge of the US Army in Europe (see US Army in Europe to report to a German general!). This does not bode well for the USA.

The Germans are still upset:

Treasure Map: The NSA Breach of Telekom and Other German Firms

September 14, 2014

When it comes to choosing code names for their secret operations, American and British agents demonstrate a flare for creativity. ... A program called Treasure Map even has its own logo, a skull superimposed onto a compass, the eye holes glowing in demonic red ...

Treasure Map allows for the creation of an "interactive map of the global Internet" in "near real-time," the document notes. Employees of the so-called "FiveEyes" intelligence agencies from Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which cooperate closely with the American agency NSA, can install and use the program on their own computers. ...

Treasure Map graphics don't just provide detailed views of German cable and satellite networks. Red markings also reveal to agents which carriers and internal company networks FiveEyes agencies claim to have already accessed. Of particular interest from the German perspective are two "Autonomous Systems" (AS) -- networks -- marked in red. They are labeled Deutsche Telekom AG and Netcologne, a Cologne-based provider.

The legend for the graphics in question explains the meaning behind the red markings: "Red Core Nodes: SIGINT Collection access points within AS." SIGINT refers to signals intelligence. In other words, networks marked with a red dot are under observation. ...

According to the logic of the undated Treasure Map documents, that would mean that the NSA and its partner agencies are perhaps not only able to monitor the networks of these companies and the data that travels through them, but also the end devices of their customers. Where exactly the NSA gained access to the companies' networks is not made clear in the graphics. The red-marked AS of Deutsche Telekom by itself includes several thousand routers worldwide.

'Completely Unacceptable'

The German company is also active in the US and Great Britain. Furthermore, it is part of the TAT14 telecommunications cable consortium; the cable runs via Great Britain to the east coast of the US. "The accessing of our network by foreign intelligence agencies," says a Telekom spokesperson, "would be completely unacceptable." ...

Telekom and Netcologne are not the first German companies to have been successfully hacked by Anglo-American intelligence agencies, according to their own documents. In March, SPIEGEL reported on the large-scale attack by the British agency GCHQ on German satellite teleport operators Stellar, Cetel and IABG. ...

CEO Steffen commented on the document ... He considers it to be final proof that his company's systems were illegally breached. "The hacked server stood behind our company's own firewall," he said. "The only way of accessing it is if you first successfully break into our network." http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/snowden-documents-indicate-nsa-has-breached-deutsche-telekom-a-991503.html

The USA has made Germans and others realize they are not a true allies and not part of the USA and Anglo-Saxon club.

But the USA has compromised some:

February 4, 2019

The Five Eyes

Germany and Japan's agreement on the intelligence service basic principles goes hand in hand with their common rapprochement to the "Five Eyes" intelligence-sharing network. Five Eyes is an intelligence network born of joint US and British activities during the Second World War, and has long-since been expanded to include Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Germany has occasionally sought close collaboration or even to join this network. (german-foreign-policy.com reported. https://www.german-foreign-policy.com/en/news/detail/7851/

This allowance of Germany partially in Five Eyes will ultimately hurt the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Brazil and the European Union Begin to Develop Non-USA Communications

Of course, many in Brazil and other parts of South America are outraged as well by the Snowden leaks (John Kerry in South America where nations are upset about US espionage).

Yet, since they do not have the influence of the Europeans, they will not be appeased as much by the USA, but this may also help drive them more to support the Europeans, which I believe that they will do in the end (Mexico, Central America, South America, Brazil, and the Caribbean in Prophecy). Those is South America now clearly realize that despite being in the Western Hemisphere that they were never considered to be close friends of the USA, despite what US officials may have told them before.

Notice what Brazil and the EU have announced:

25 February 2014

Brazil and the European Union have agreed to deploy an undersea communications cable linking the Portuguese capital of Lisbon to the city of Fortaleza in Brazil. The project seeks to reduce Brazil’s reliance on the US after Washington spied on Brasilia, Reuters reports, citing Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. The statement was made at a summit in Brussels. Rousseff said the USD 185 million cable project was central to "guarantee the neutrality" of the internet.

Brazil's president, Dilma Rousseff, has seized on Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel's call for a Europe-based internet system in order to strengthen her own case for a new submarine internet cable to connect Brazil and Europe.

“I welcome the fact that Merkel has suggested this,” Rousseff said during a trip to Brussels today (24 February) for the annual EU-Brazil summit. She continued: “We have similar concerns, especially when we are talking about communications across oceans, which is why we attach so much importance to cables under the sea... They have to be protected from the Brazilian and the EU side.”

Merkel said on 15 February, ahead of a meeting with French President François Hollande, that Germany and France would “talk with European providers that offer security for our citizens, so that one shouldn't have to send emails and other information across the Atlantic. Rather, one could build up a communication network inside Europe.”

Data protection has become one of the dominant subjects of EU-level politics and policymaking since revelations that the US National Security Agency (NSA) has been scooping up vast amounts of data about individuals as well as spying on leading national politicians (including Merkel) and on EU buildings.  Rousseff's response to the secret documents released by the whistleblower Edward Snowden... http://www.europeanvoice.com/article/2014/february/brazil-and-eu-push-internet-link/79806.aspx

Brazil, Europe plan undersea cable to skirt U.S. spying
Brazil and the European Union agreed on Monday to lay an undersea communications cable from Lisbon to Fortaleza to reduce Brazil's reliance on the United States after Washington spied on Brasilia...U.S. President Barack Obama has since banned spying on the leaders of close allies, but trust has been damaged...The cable agreement marks rare progress for Rousseff in her ties with the European Union, the top foreign investor in Brazil...http://news.yahoo.com/brazil-presses-eu-undersea-cable-skirt-u-links-115123537--finance.html;_ylt=AwrTWfz.cAtT4nwACq3QtDMD

So, despite assurances about limits to spying on leaders personally by USA President Obama, Brazil and the European Union are taking a major step to reduce USA espionage.  This, of course, will weaken the USA as it has been able to spy on all calls from Brazil over to Europe in the past.

I have long written that Brazil and pretty much the rest of Latin America would ultimately align with Europe (though they may leave at tthe end).  This is a significant step in that direction (see Mexico, Central America, South America, Brazil, and the Caribbean in Prophecy).

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that more data centers are going to Europe in response to reports of espionage by the USA leaked by Edward Snowden:

December 8, 2014

PARIS—U.S. businesses are building more computing data centers in the European Union ahead of new data-protection rules, an E.U. official said Monday, citing new data.

“We already see a substantial increase of foreign-direct investment in digital technologies in storage centers, data centers, processing,” said Paul Nemitz, a director in the European Commission’s Justice Unit, speaking at a data-protection forum organized by France’s data-protection watchdog. ...

The push for data centers on European soil provides a glimpse at how global tech companies are adapting to the commercial and legal fallout from revelations of widespread U.S. government surveillance.

The companies say their plans stem from the need for more capacity as Internet users consume growing amounts data—not geopolitics. Some technology lawyers in Europe say that both factors are at play, however.

“This is proof to us that, in anticipation of Europe becoming a trust center for data, big global corporations, in particular from the United states, are investing in Europe,” Mr. Nemitz said.

Any data showing that U.S. companies are stepping up the construction of data centers in Europe emphasizes how much the technology landscape has shifted in the year and a half since former U.S. National Security Agency Edward Snowden leaked information about large scale data collection via U.S. companies and data based in the U.S. ...

“Just as Switzerland has attracted money, with a trusted framework, Europe will be able to attract data, data processing, data centers,” Mr. Nemitz said. “The path toward trust through high levels of protection is good for the economy, good for growth and employment.” http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/12/08/e-u-sees-u-s-firms-building-more-data-centers-in-europe/

PARIS (Reuters) - The U.S. National Security Agency's mass surveillance is a trade barrier for European Internet companies trying to provide services in the United States, a top EU official said on Monday.

U.S. citizens are deterred from using European e-mail providers because they do not get the same protection as they would by using U.S. providers, said Paul Nemitz, a director in the European Commission's justice department.

"The law ... which empowers the NSA to basically grab everything which comes from outside the United States, is a real trade barrier to a European digital company to provide services to Americans inside America," Nemitz, who is overseeing an overhaul of the EU's 20-year-old data protection rules, said at a conference on data protection in Paris.  https://uk.news.yahoo.com/nsas-surveillance-trade-barrier-eu-companies-eu-official-145838439--finance.html#vD17Aa1

The government of the United States simply does not believe that anyone has privacy rights on the Internet.

Europe now looks to be the best choice for many.

Since the final 666 of biblical prophecy is European, this development is consistent with what could be expected. The Snowden leaks are having a lot of ramifications.

Germany Intends to Spy on the USA

Not satisfied with what it has and has not received from the USA government, Germany is looking to spy on the USA:

Unsatisfied with the lack of answers provided by Washington in the NSA spying scandal, officials in Berlin are considering a new approach. Germany might begin counterespionage measures aimed at allies.

Germany intends to defend itself against all spying efforts in the future, even if they are perpetrated by supposed friends.

While the minister's words may have sounded innocuous, they marked nothing less than the start of a political about-face. Away from the public eye, the German government is moving toward implementing plans to turn its own spies against partner countries like the United States, putting allies on the same level as the Chinese, Russians and North Koreans.

Humiliating Revelations

The stubbornness of the Americans, who have answered few relevant questions from Germany during the National Security Agency spying scandal, has angered the new government, comprised of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives and the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD). Now, pressure is growing for Germany to find its own answers to the questions Washington has been ignoring. "They're like cowboys who only understand the language of the Wild West," sources in Merkel's party say, referring to the Americans' intractability. Two government agencies are at the center of the strategy to restore respect that has been lost over months of humiliating revelations that the US has been spying on Germany: the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Federal Prosecutor's Office. http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/germany-considers-counterespionage-measures-against-united-states-a-953985.html 2/18/14, veiwed 022714

De Maizière's new assertiveness first became clear at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month. During a panel discussion, he raised the issue with Mike Rogers, chairman of the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and called the NSA's relentless collection of data "boundless". He said he couldn't even say how bad the political damage was because he was still lacking vital information.

The USA has encouraged this through its actions and inactions. The Bible shows that the European Beast power will have major German influence.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government is planning to scrap a no-spy agreement Germany has held with Britain and the United States since 1945 in response to an embarrassing US-German intelligence service scandal which has deeply soured relations between Berlin and Washington.

The unprecedented change to Berlin’s counter-espionage policy was announced by Ms Merkel’s Interior Minister, Thomas de Maizière. He said that Berlin wanted “360‑degree surveillance” of all intelligence-gathering operations in Germany.

The intelligence services of the Allied victors, the United States, Britain and France, have hitherto been regarded as “friendly” to Germany. Their diplomatic and information-gathering activities were exempted from surveillance by Berlin’s equivalent of M15 – the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND). http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/germany-to-spy-on-us-for-first-time-since-1945-after-double-agentscandal-9590645.html

Germany believes that the USA has repeatedly violated its agreements and is not treating it properly. Germany apparently will now spy officially on the USA and UK. This is not good for the USA.

The Germans Are Using the Espionage Scandals

When I started to report about the Snowden leaks, I said that they assist the Germans and other Europeans to one day takeover the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies. Now, others are noticing that certain Germans are taking advantage of this:

July 10, 2014

Diplomatic tensions between Germany and the U.S. stoked by allegations of spying are spilling over into German government plans to upgrade the military’s drones, said lawmakers who sit on parliament’s Defense Committee.

Espionage activities that prompted Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government to expel a U.S. intelligence official yesterday compound German concerns over “black box” modules in U.S. bidder General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.’s MQ-9 Reaper drones, said the lawmakers. That might help tip the balance in favor of awarding the contract to Israel Aerospace Industries’ Heron TP fliers.

“The latest spying allegations raise the hurdle for accepting black box technology,” Hans-Peter Bartels, a lawmaker from Merkel’s Social Democratic coalition partner who chairs the Defense Committee, said in a phone interview. The developments have “stiffened” lawmakers’ resistance to buying the U.S. military hardware, as the expulsion “marks a new low in Germany’s trust in its U.S. ally,” he said.

The snooping spat revives a dilemma for Merkel, who has sought to isolate Germany’s business interests from government pressure on the U.S. to change its intelligence policy since Edward Snowden’s revelations last year. It also threatens to undermine Merkel’s support for a free-trade accord between the U.S. and the European Union…

Lawmaker concerns center on what they say is the use of black box technology to store and transmit secure surveillance data to the U.S…“Naturally, we’re sensitive to the black box issue,” Bernd Siebert, a committee member from Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party, said in an e-mailed reply to questions. This “will flow into the decision making” on the drone selected, he said…

While German politicians may be “utilizing” the spying scandals, their concerns betray long-standing attempts to free Europe from dependency on U.S. technology, said Jan Techau, who heads the Brussels office of the Carnegie Endowment.  http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-10/german-drone-upgrade-feels-heat-of-u-s-spying-dispute.html

Notice that many in Germany have long wanted to reduce dependency upon USA technology.  I have been warning for years that the Europeans will one day have sufficient technology to takeover the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (see also European Technology and the Beast of Revelation).  Now, because of the espionage scandal over the past year or so, the USA is likely to share too much technology with the Europeans in general, and Germany in particular, as well as make arrangements to allow Germany to operate with less USA intelligence oversight.

Oh yes, the Germans will act diplomatically and try to give the impression of a certain amount of cooperation, but the reality is that all the espionage revelations have strengthened the resolve of many to separate from dependency on the USA to develop a European alternative to American hegemony.

Germany is no longer as content to take a backseat to the USA as it has been since WWII.  Germany, which basically started WWI and WWII, will also be the aggressor in WWIII (see also World War III: Steps in Progress).

The Snowden Matter Remains an Issue for the Europeans and Others

In December 2015, former German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg mentioned that the Obama Administration was in a "remarkable lame duck mood" on matters of security and technology. In that same presentation, he decried that the "tech world and political world could not be more detached from each other." He also said he wanted to stop terrorists from utilizing encryption technologies that governments could not break. He made it clear he wanted to change that. He also mentioned that the political environment was "too toxic" to resolve these and other issues in 2016. He said that there was growing anti-Americanism in Germany because of the Snowden leaks that had still not been resolved. And he blamed the USA for causing a lot of this (for some details, watch him in the video Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and Europe’s Future).

He also stated that he wanted a strong "European voice to confront the USA strongly."

The Europeans are also pressing USA companies to 'share' data:

January 21, 2016

DAVOS, Switzerland—Tensions are rising between governments and big U.S. technology companies over widening surveillance demands, part of a broader debate over how to reconcile online privacy with the fight against terrorism. …

Governments, particularly in Europe, want U.S. tech firms to turn over more information to them directly. http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-tech-companies-bring-encryption-battle-to-davos-1453320950

The Europeans will learn more how to spy, etc. and the Snowden links have been a reason for them to move that way.

Notice also the following:

March 25, 2016

A former CIA director has said the European Union “in some ways gets in the way” of security services, as the debate continues over whether the UK would be safer in or out of the EU.

Retired general Michael Hayden told the BBC the union was “not a natural contributor to national security”. ...

Speaking on BBC Radio 4′s Today programme, Mr Hayden said the standard of security services across Europe was “very uneven”. …

He said he agreed with Sir Richard that leaving the EU could boost Britain’s security.

Mr Hayden said: “I don’t mean to be arguing against the European Union, but the union is not a natural contributor to national security to each of the entity states.

“In fact in some ways [it] gets in the way of the state providing security for its own citizens.” http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-35898255

While this is not directly related to the Snowden matter, it is yet another instance where the USA has insulted the Europeans. This added to the Snowden matters must be compounding European distrust of the USA.

Notice something that came out later:

September 20, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - An international group of cryptography experts has forced the U.S. National Security Agency to back down over two data encryption techniques it wanted set as global industry standards, reflecting deep mistrust among close U.S. allies.

In interviews and emails seen by Reuters, academic and industry experts from countries including Germany, Japan and Israel worried that the U.S. electronic spy agency was pushing the new techniques not because they were good encryption tools, but because it knew how to break them.

The NSA has now agreed to drop all but the most powerful versions of the techniques - those least likely to be vulnerable to hacks - to address the concerns.

The dispute, which has played out in a series of closed-door meetings around the world over the past three years and has not been previously reported, turns on whether the International Organization of Standards should approve two NSA data encryption techniques, known as Simon and Speck.

The U.S. delegation to the ISO on encryption issues includes a handful of NSA officials, though it is controlled by an American standards body, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The presence of the NSA officials and former NSA contractor Edward Snowden’s revelations about the agency’s penetration of global electronic systems have made a number of delegates suspicious of the U.S. delegation’s motives, according to interviews with a dozen current and former delegates.

A number of them voiced their distrust in emails to one another, seen by Reuters, and in written comments that are part of the process. The suspicions stem largely from internal NSA documents disclosed by Snowden that showed the agency had previously plotted to manipulate standards and promote technology it could penetrate. Budget documents, for example, sought funding to “insert vulnerabilities into commercial encryption systems.”

More than a dozen of the experts involved in the approval process for Simon and Speck feared that if the NSA was able to crack the encryption techniques, it would gain a “back door” into coded transmissions, according to the interviews and emails and other documents seen by Reuters. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-cyber-standards-insight/distrustful-u-s-allies-force-spy-agency-to-back-down-in-encryption-fight-idUSKCN1BW0GV

The USA has proven itself to be unreliable and the Snowden matter proved this to various ones.

While the Snowden leaks as well as practices under then US President Barack Obama caused a significant erosion of German trust of the USA, the rise and election of Donald Trump has made the divide even more serious (see also Donald Trump in Prophecy).

But even after the departure of Donald Trump, there still are issues.

Strategic Culture reported the following:

US Spying On “Allies” Spoils Biden’s Set-Piece Visit To Europe

June 4, 2021

American President Joe Biden flies to Europe next week for a series of major summits in what was being billed as a happy revival for the transatlantic alliance. Four years of bitter and divisive chaos under Trump were supposed to be sutured by the new president declaring the importance of a strong U.S.-European partnership and “shared values”.

Unfortunately for Biden, the scandal over U.S. spying on European governments looks like casting a shadow on the “happy family reunion”. What’s more, this American president is fully implicated in the illicit snooping.

The timing also upsets Biden’s attempt to burnish America’s image as a defender of “rules-based order” and “shared Western values” when he meets Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Geneva for their first face-to-face presidential summit.

Several European media outlets published reports last week on how Denmark’s intelligence services were spying on European neighbors on behalf of the American National Security Agency. The illegal surveillance is said to date back to 2013 when Barack Obama was in the White House and Joe Biden was his vice president. Whistleblower Edward Snowden, who formerly worked as a contractor for the NSA and who is now in exile in Russia to avoid persecution in the United States, claims that Biden was closely involved in the surveillance operations.

There was stunned silence among the European governments last week when the reports emerged. However, this week several leaders, including Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, have become more vocal in denouncing the reports of American spying as “outrageous” and “unacceptable”.

When Biden attends the G7 summit in England on June 11-13 and the NATO meeting in Brussels on June 14, his first in-person encounter with allies since becoming president will be strained by awkward questions about the reported U.S. tapping of private communications.

As Danish defense analyst Peter Viggo Jakobsen drily observed: “This is an embarrassing matter for the Americans. Joe Biden must try to find a grimace useful for sweeping this under the carpet.” https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2021/06/04/us-spying-allies-spoils-biden-set-piece-visit-europe/

Yes, there are memories of the Snowden leaks which showed the Europeans that the USA, and in particular the Obama-Biden Administration, did not trust the Europeans and was heavily spying on them.

Some in the USA Recognized the Illegality of What the NSA has Done

Edward Snowden has, in the minds of some, been vindicated as some in the USA consider that the NSA has engaged in illegal activities:

May 7, 2015

Edward Snowden hasn’t had his day in court, but he’s already finding some vindication in the U.S. judicial system.

A U.S. appeals court’s ruling on Thursday that bulk collection of telephone metadata by the National Security Agency is illegal has given fresh hope to supporters of the former government contractor, who say the judgment proves he was right to reveal the program. Some argue it’s another reason the 31-year-old should be allowed to return to the United States without fear of prosecution. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/05/edward-snowden-nsa-court-ruling-telephone-records-117733.html#ixzz3ZUcY5aFh

May 7, 2015

On 6 June 2013, the Guardian published a secret US court order against the phone company Verizon, ordering it on an “ongoing, daily basis” to hand over the call records of its millions of US customers to the NSA – just one of numerous orders enabling the government’s highly secret domestic mass surveillance program. Just days later the world learned the identity of the whistleblower who made the order public: Edward Snowden.

Now, almost two years later, a US court has vindicated Snowden’s decision, ruling that the bulk surveillance program went beyond what the law underpinning it allowed: the US government used section 215 of the Patriot Act to justify the program. A US court of appeals has ruled the law does not allow for a program so broad. In short, one of the NSA’s most famous and controversial surveillance programs has no legal basis.

Of Snowden and the NSA, only one has so far been found to have acted unlawfully – and it’s not Snowden. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/07/edward-snowden-whistleblower-nsa-bulk-surveillance-illegal

Related to the Snowden leaks of espionage of Europe, in Hard Choices, on page 244 Hillary Clinton blames Edward Snowden for what he did, along with Russia for allowing him to stay there, without apologizing for Obama Administration policies, intrusions, and practices along those lines.  While I do not believe Edward Snowden should have violated certain pledges, I see more problems with government surveillance than people like Hillary Clinton seem to.

Many in the government of the United States simply do not believe that anyone has privacy rights on the the telephone nor the internet.

This is not the first time any governmental body in the USA has declared NSA actions as illegal (see NSA’s practices deemed illegal by a federal government agency), but it is the highest legal body in the USA to do so related to the Snowden leaks.  Various parts of Europe have indicated that aspects of USA espionage are illegal.  In my view, part of the public justification that the European Beast power will give for taking over the USA is that the USA engaged in illegal activities, such as blanket espionage, violating trade agreements, and getting militarily involved in places outside its borders.

The French Were Very Upset

It is not just the Snowden leaks that have upset the Europeans. Wikileaks reported that the USA has been directly spying on the last three French presidents:

French leaders are concerned about a report that the USA has been spying on the past three French presidents:

June 24, 2015

The United States wiretapped France’s current president Francois Hollande, as well as former presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy, according to WikiLeaks.

The revelations were first reported in French daily Liberation and on news website Mediapart, which said the National Security Agency spied on the presidents during a period between at least 2006 until May 2012, the month Mr Hollande took over from Mr Sarkozy.

WikiLeaks said the documents derived from directly targeted NSA surveillance of the communications of Mr Hollande (2012-present), Mr Sarkozy (2007-2012) and Mr Chirac (1995-2007), as well as French cabinet ministers and the French ambassador to the US.

The documents also contained the mobile phone numbers of numerous officials in the Elysee presidential palace, including the number of the president, WikiLeaks said.  http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-24/us-wiretapped-three-french-presidents/6568836

Here is the press release from Wikileaks:

Today, 23 June 2015, WikiLeaks began publishing “Espionnage Élysée”, a collection of TOP SECRET intelligence reports and technical documents from the US National Security Agency (NSA) concerning targeting and signals intelligence intercepts of the communications of high-level officials from successive French governments over the last ten years.

The top secret documents derive from directly targeted NSA surveillance of the communications of French Presidents Francois Hollande (2012–present), Nicolas Sarkozy (2007–2012), and Jacques Chirac (1995–2007), as well as French cabinet ministers and the French Ambassador to the United States. The documents also contain the “selectors” from the target list, detailing the cell phone numbers of numerous officials in the Elysee up to and including the direct cell phone of the President.

Prominent within the top secret cache of documents are intelligence summaries of conversations between French government officials concerning some of the most pressing issues facing France and the international community, including the global financial crisis, the Greek debt crisis, the leadership and future of the European Union, the relationship between the Hollande administration and the German government of Angela Merkel, French efforts to determine the make-up of the executive staff of the United Nations, French involvement in the conflict in Palestine and a dispute between the French and US governments over US spying on France.

A founding member state of the European Union and one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, France is formally a close ally of the United States, and plays a key role in a number of US-associated international institutions, including the Group of 7 (G7), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The revelation of the extent of US spying against French leaders and diplomats echoes a previous disclosure in the German press concerning US spying on the communications of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other German officials. That disclosure provoked a political scandal in Germany, eventuating in an official inquiry into German intelligence co-operation with the United States, which is still ongoing.

While the German disclosures focused on the isolated fact that senior officials were targeted by US intelligence, WikiLeaks’ publication today provides much greater insight into US spying on its allies, including the actual content of intelligence products deriving from the intercepts, showing how the US spies on the phone calls of French leaders and ministers for political, economic and diplomatic intelligence.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said: “The French people have a right to know that their elected government is subject to hostile surveillance from a supposed ally. We are proud of our work with leading French publishers Liberation and Mediapart to bring this story to light. French readers can expect more timely and important revelations in the near future.”

The French do not seem pleased with this.  Notice:

June 24, 2015

France summoned U.S. Ambassador Jane Hartley Wednesday to complain about what President Francois Hollande called “unacceptable” spying on successive French leaders in allegations revealed by the whistleblowing website Wikileaks.

Hollande held an emergency meeting of his ministers and army commanders after revelations the U.S. National Security Agency had spied on former French Presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy as well as Hollande from 2006 to 2012.

Hollande was also to discuss the documents with U.S. President Barack Obama later Wednesday.  http://www.voanews.com/content/us-says-not-targeting-hollandes-communications/2834993.html

June 24, 2015

The top floor of the U.S. Embassy, visible from France's presidential Elysee Palace, reportedly was filled with spying equipment hidden behind trompe l'oeil paintings of windows, according to the Liberation newspaper, which partnered with WikiLeaks and the website Mediapart on the documents.

U.S. Ambassador Jane Hartley was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry. Hollande is also sending France's top intelligence coordinator to the U.S. shortly, to ensure that promises made after earlier NSA spying revelations in 2013 and 2014 have been kept, the spokesman said.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the U.S. must do everything it can, and quickly, to "repair the damage" to U.S.-French relations from the revelations, which he called "a very serious violation of the spirit of trust" between the allies.

"If the fact of the revelations today does not constitute a real surprise for anyone, that in no way lessens the emotion and the anger. They are legitimate. France will not tolerate any action threatening its security and fundamental interests," he said.

Government spokesman Stephane Le Foll told reporters "France does not listen in on its allies." He added, "we reminded all (government) ministers to be vigilant in their conversations." http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015/06/24/world/europe/ap-eu-france-us-spying.html?_r=0

The French will remember this insult.

The USA reiterated an appeasement it is making:

June 24, 2015

U.S. President Barack Obama reaffirmed to his French counterpart the United States' commitment to end spying tactics considered "unacceptable" by its allies.

The conversation between Obama and President Francois Hollande occurred Wednesday, a day after whistleblower website WikiLeaks released documents that purported to show the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) had spied on former French Presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy as well as Hollande, from 2006 to 2012.

"President Obama reiterated unequivocally his firm commitment ... to end the practices that may have happened in the past and that are considered unacceptable among allies," the French president's office said in announcing the conversation.

The White House said later Wednesday Obama told Hollande that the U.S. was abiding by a commitment Obama made in 2013 not to spy on the French leader after Edward Snowden disclosed the extent of NSA surveillance powers.  http://www.voanews.com/content/us-says-not-targeting-hollandes-communications/2834993.html

Because of this, expect more appeasement by the USA for Europe.  Perhaps I should add that now, maybe LCG will realize that its position that France may not support the final Beast power is in error (see details from LCG in the article Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).  If there is much truth to these leaks, the French will be very upset with the USA, and certainly would be willing to turn against it when the time comes.

France's President Macron was also publicly upset in 2021.

Diplomatically, I can see this espionage being brought up repeatedly as European officials ask for various concessions, military, communications, and perhaps even economic.  Also, by publicly agreeing not to spy on its allies, the USA faces the risk of worse problems in the future if it is caught spying on the Europeans, plus it is putting the Europeans in a position where they will be able to get away with more clandestine moves themselves as the USA will at least have to reduce espionage on them.  This will put the Europeans at an advantage and the USA at a disadvantage for a likely surprise attack from the Europeans.

Snowden Also Sees Major Problems with so-called Social Media Companies

Edward Snowden calls companies like Facebook "surveillance companies." Notice two of his Tweets:

Facebook makes their money by exploiting and selling intimate details about the private lives of millions, far beyond the scant details you voluntarily post. They are not victims. They are accomplices. https://t.co/mRkRKxsBcw

— Edward Snowden (@Snowden) March 17, 2018

Businesses that make money by collecting and selling detailed records of private lives were once plainly described as "surveillance companies." Their rebranding as "social media" is the most successful deception since the Department of War became the Department of Defense.

— Edward Snowden (@Snowden) March 17, 2018

Governments are also using private comanpies like Facebook to surveil and report on people. Plus remove contents.

This happened a lot since Edward Snowden tweeted about it. It even happened to me (Bob Thiel) in 2021 as Facebook removed a proper post and Vimeo a proper video I did.

A famine of the word of God is coming (Amost 8:11-12; see also Preparing for the 'Short Work' and The Famine of the Word).

The Bible Has Warnings About What the NSA Reportedly Wants

Notice what the NSA reported wants:

July 10, 2014

The ultimate goal of the NSA is total population control

At least 80% of all audio calls, not just metadata, are recorded and stored in the US, says whistleblower William Binney – that's a 'totalitarian mentality'

William Binney is one of the highest-level whistleblowers to ever emerge from the NSA. He was a leading code-breaker against the Soviet Union during the Cold War but resigned soon after September 11, disgusted by Washington’s move towards mass surveillance.

On 5 July he spoke at a conference in London organised by the Centre for Investigative Journalism and revealed the extent of the surveillance programs unleashed by the Bush and Obama administrations.

“At least 80% of fibre-optic cables globally go via the US”, Binney said. “This is no accident and allows the US to view all communication coming in. At least 80% of all audio calls, not just metadata, are recorded and stored in the US. The NSA lies about what it stores.” ...

“The ultimate goal of the NSA is total population control”, Binney said...He praised the revelations and bravery of former NSA contractor Edward Snowden and told me that he had indirect contact with a number of other NSA employees who felt disgusted with the agency’s work...

The latest Snowden leaks, featured in the Washington Post, detail private conversations of average Americans with no connection to extremism.

It shows that the NSA is not just pursuing terrorism, as it claims, but ordinary citizens going about their daily communications. “The NSA is mass-collecting on everyone”, Binney said, “and it’s said to be about terrorism but inside the US it has stopped zero attacks.” ...

Binney recently told the German NSA inquiry committee that his former employer had a “totalitarian mentality” that was the "greatest threat" to US society since that country’s US Civil War in the 19th century. (Loewenstein A. The ultimate goal of the NSA is total population control. Notice the following from the Bible:

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows — bitter words,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.

5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, "Who will see them?"
6 They devise iniquities:
"We have perfected a shrewd scheme."
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep. (Psalms 64:1-6)

And while you might think that if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear from surveillance, consider that many in the government of the USA consider that not supporting homosexual marriages, etc. are extremist. I also saw someone once on a documentary that stated that people who believed in the millennium could not be trusted and should be considered as potential terrorists.  The fact that we in the Continuing Church of God would be considered pacifists, does not change the fact that since we hold to millennial and other biblical views that we will not be improperly classified by government employees with various agendas.

Having biblical views are becoming more problematic in the USA.

Notice also the following prophecy:

13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.  (Amos 5:13)

The above indicates that even those that are doing nothing wrong will need to be silent at the coming evil time.

Somewhat beyond that, Bible prophecy further warns about a power that that will have a tremendous amount of control and even understand secret/hidden things:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18, NKJV)

23 ‘And in the latter end of their kingdom, about the perfecting of the transgressors, stand up doth a king, fierce of face, and understanding hidden things; (Daniel 8:23, Young’s Literal Translation)

It will likely take computers aided with artificial intelligence to aid in the fulfillment of the above scriptures, as well as cyber-spying/monitoring. Thus, even though I do not believe that there can possibly this type of computer takeover of the world coming this year, I do believe that cyber monitoring will be used by the European Beast, King of the North, 666 power.

If the USA provides the Europeans with all the information that apparently it has agreed to and if the USA ceases (or dramatically reduces) the amount of surveillance against the Europeans in general, and the Germans in particular, this will put the Europeans in a position where they clearly can take steps to takeover the USA and not be found out until it is too late.

This matter is that serious.

Yet, because the media in general does not understand biblical prophecy, it mainly seems to think that only a trade agreement could be affected by all this.  This is much more serious than that.

Notice also the following:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" (Revelation 13:4)

The 'he' in Daniel 11:39 is the King of the North, European Beast power (you can also watch the video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?). The world will marvel because it did not believe that this European power could possibly takeover a nation like the USA.

I should perhaps add here that Europe is ahead of the USA in certain new technologies (see European Technology and the Beast of Revelation) and the USA has agreed to rely on Europe's upcoming Galileo 'GPS' system for part of the USA's military defense (see USA GPS and EU Galileo linking). Having the USA rely on Galileo for communications that the Europeans will be able to control also puts the Europeans in a unique position when they decided that they need to eliminate the USA.

By giving the Europeans access to USA espionage, espionage techniques, and espionage practices, combined with having part of what it will be doing exempted from USA espionage and data collection, the Europeans are gaining a unique military advantage. One, with the addition of technology, deceit, and the element of surprise will cause the elimination of the nation with the strongest fortresses.

Th Snowden matter will help lead to the destruction of the United States. The USA is taking steps that basically have guaranteed it--as did the election of Donald Trump (see Donald Trump in Prophecy). The Biden-Harris Administration is a factor as well. And all this is consistent with end time biblical prophecy.
