Scientists are becoming concerned about the ramifications of a medium-size asteroid striking the earth:

Asteroid the size of an office block to narrowly miss Earth on Monday

Daily Mail, UK…

That’s at least double the size of the asteroids that have previously been observed so close to Earth.

Called 2011 MD, the asteroid was discovered late on Wednesday by an automated asteroid-hunting telescope run by the MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s LINEAR programme…http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2007859/Asteroid-size-office-block-narrowly-miss-Earth-Monday.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

It is interesting, to me at least, that even though this is supposed to be double the size of other asteroids that have come this close to hitting the earth, it was just detected a few days ago.  So much for counting on a massive amount of warning.

A large comet hitting the earth would also seem to have similar effects to that of a medium-sized asteroid.  And having something actually hit the earth and do massive damage is predicted in the Bible.

Over 1900 years ago, notice what the Apostle John was inspired to write in the Book of Revelation 8:10-11:

Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

And while Wormwood does not have to be a comet, it sounds more like one than an asteroid.

Why?

In addition to looking like a star falling from the heavens looking like a torch (and an asteroid could possibly do that), comets normally appear with cyanogen. Astronomers state hydrogen cyanide on comets may be their source of cyanogen gas.

Interestingly, the cyanogen gas mixes with water to form hydrogen cyanide, which has an almond odor and bitter taste, and reportedly causes death at concentrations over 5 parts per million.

And thus for Bible skeptics, the fact that before humans had any idea that comets could produce a poisonous bitter water, it is recorded in the Bible. This should be additional proof to those willing to see that the Bible has been inspired by God.  And tomorrow’s expected asteroid should serve as a reminder that objects from the sky do pose risks to those on the earth.

In his booklet, The Seven Laws of Success, the late Herbert W. Armstrong wrote the following related to the first law of success:

The FIRST Law

Certainly NOTHING in life is more important than to know: what is real success—and how to achieve it.

What, then, is the first law of success?

Before stating even the first law, let it be said that I am not considering here such general principles of character as honesty, patience, loyalty, courtesy, dependability, punctuality, etc., etc., etc., except as these are automatically included in the seven rules. We may assume that one cannot become a real success without these principles of right character.

But on the other hand, many are honest who have never practiced a single one of the seven laws, specifically. Many may be loyal, have patience, extend courtesy, be punctual, who are unsuccessful because they have not applied a single one of these seven definite, specific rules. Even so, each of these laws covers a vast territory.

Here, then, is the first law of success:

FIX THE RIGHT GOAL!

Not just any goal. Most of the “successful “men I have mentioned had goals. They drove themselves relentlessly to accomplishment. But making money, gaining STATUS in the eyes of people, enjoying the passing pleasures of the five senses, has literally strewn the pathway of history with fears, worries, heartaches, troubled consciences, sorrows, frustrations, empty lives and death.

These things may be had and enjoyed along with true success. But they alone do not bring success. The right goal includes something more.

In other words, the very first law of success is to be able to define success! Once you have learned what success is make that your goal in life.

Do you know that most people go through life without any GOAL at all? In fact, most people, as I’ve said before, do not know, and do not apply a SINGLE ONE of the seven laws of success!

Most people never think of having any PURPOSE in life. They are not going anywhere, in particular.

If you have saved up money for a trip to Paris, or Rome, or London for your vacation or holiday, you spend a lot of time in excited anticipation PLANNING your trip—but you DO have a definite DESTINATION—and all plans are laid to take you to that particular destination—that GOAL. You know where you are planning to go. Otherwise, how would you ever expect to arrive there?

As I said once before, most people have no aim—they are merely the victims of CIRCUMSTANCE. They never planned, purposefully, to be in the fob or occupation in which they find themselves today. They do not live where they do by CHOICE that is, because they PLANNED it that way. They have merely been buffeted around by CIRCUMSTANCE! They have allowed themselves to drift. They have made no effort to master and control circumstances.

The first law of success, I repeat, is to fix the RIGHT goal. Not any goal. One could set a goal in which he had little or no interest, and drift into inaction. The right goal will arouse ambition. Ambition is more than mere desire. It is desire plus incentive—determination—will to achieve the desire. The right goal will be so intensely desired it will excite vigorous and determined effort. It will fire one with incentive.

There should be an overpowering PURPOSE to life. Few have ever known such purpose. Down through centuries and millenniums thinkers and philosophers have pondered, and sought in vain to learn whether life has a real purpose. Socrates, Plato, Augustine among others speculated and reasoned, yet the true meaning of life eluded them. This deepest and most important question in life remained to them a mystery—an unsolvable enigma!

IF one could discover such an overall PURPOSE—a definite purpose for which humans were put on earth—IF one could discover a human potential greater than mere temporary existence, one would think that PURPOSE would be the goal that should excite dynamic ambition!

But—alas! Who has ever discovered such an objective as life’s aim?

Was there nothing greater to look forward to, for my two prominent banker friends? Nothing greater than to enjoy fleeting status, only to be forgotten by those who succeeded them?

What is there, after all, to live for?

I repeat! The first law of real success is to have the right goal! The men I have described, rated eminently successful in the world, all had goals. They applied diligently all of the first six of the Success Laws. But failing the seventh, they misapplied the first. Their success was fleeting.

Setting the right goal (or goals) is important.  Otherwise one spends all their time and efforts on things that are not important.  Or vanity as the book of Ecclesiastes puts it.

With so many world events happening that are aligning with end time prophecy, isn’t this the time to be sure that you have the right goal and understand the meaning of life?

The oceans are in trouble:

The oceans in trouble.

According to scientists at the International Programme on the State of the Ocean (IPSO), “The health of the oceans is deteriorating far more rapidly than expected… they predict that marine life could be on the brink of mass extinction” (The Times, June 21, 2011). While scientists have been witnessing drop-offs in species population sizes for years, current numbers are far more extensive than originally understood. “The report warned that damage to marine life would harm its [the ocean’s] ability to support humans, and that entire ecosystems, such as coral reefs, could be lost in a generation.”

The Bible reveals that God intended mankind to be wise and loving stewards of His creation (Genesis 2:15). Biblical guidelines are intended to “preserve” plant and animal species–for example, female birds were to be preserved to bear future generations (Deuteronomy 22:6-7). Today’s greed-driven fishing policies foster “over-fishing” that pushes species to the brink of extinction. The decline of one species then impacts other species. The sad story is that when we disrupt ecosystems and violate the natural laws that God has designed, there are serious consequences!

The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ is going to return and put an end to the exploitation and destruction of God’s creation (Revelation 11:17-18; Romans 8:18-22). The ecosystems of this earth will be restored as a result of righteous government in the coming Kingdom of God (see Isaiah 35).  TW News & Prophecy.  Living Church of God.

As reported here earlier (Fishing Stock Depletion), there was a meeting in Europe to look at fishing stock depletion in the oceans a few days ago.

The Bible warns of famines of course (Matthew 24:7-8; cf. Revelation 6:5-6) as part of the beginning of sorrows. But it also warns that the time will come when fishing stocks will be even more dramatically affected (Revelation 8:8-11) and ultimately they apparently will be gone (Revelation 16:3).

Environmental issues are more important than many realize.  Notice one of the reasons that Jesus will come is to destroy those who destroy the earth:

18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth. (Revelation 11:18)

Humans should try to be good stewards and live a life of love.  And this includes not polluting or overfishing the oceans.

In its latest TW News & Prophecy, the Living Church of God reported::

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov and Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov are spending two days in Paris shortly after Moscow and Paris signed a deal for Russia to purchase two French Mistral-class amphibious assault ships.” This follows a deal where Germany has agreed to build a military training center in Russia, to train Russian troops.According to a recent report, “The Russian officials’ visit is a chance to very publicly emphasize the Mistral deal [worth $1.7 billion], a boon for the Kremlin that wants to signal the rest of Europe that it has a strong security relationship with France (part of its ongoing campaign to unsettle the Central Europeans and make them doubt the commitment of their West European NATO allies)” (Stratfor, June 21, 2011). The actions of Russia, France and Germany appear to be severing a long-time European reliance on the United States and the West.

Bible prophecy indicates that Russia will ultimately join an Asian coalition that will come against a European Beast power (Daniel 11:44-45; Revelation 16:12-16). However, prior to that event, this European power will bring a type of “peace” and economic prosperity to the earth–for a short time (Revelation 18:9-15). Bible prophecies also clearly state that as America and Britain (Israelite peoples) turn away from God, their former allies would begin to move away from them and eventually turn against them (Jeremiah 4:30; Ezekiel 23:5, 9, 22).

We appear to be watching these ancient prophecies being fulfilled right in front of our eyes today!

World events continue to align with end-time Bible prophecy.  A new world order is emerging, and since the USA and the UK were on top of the old one, this means a change for both of them that is not going to be positive.

As I reported back in November 2010, Russia is also trying to link its currency with the Euro (Russia expects to share a currency with Europe) and previous to that made a currency related deal with China (Russia and China dropping US dollar for their trade).  Both of these Russian moves are apparently directed at breaking the hold of the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency.  And while those moves have not yet been completely successful, there is a major trend in the world away from the US dollar.  And there may soon be an escalating trend against the US military (partially because the USA will likely begin to make major cuts in its defense spending, which seems to be the opposite of what is now going on in Russia).

Last night, the senate in New York state approved a law officially sanctioning homosexual marriage.

New York Approves Same-Sex Marriage in Major Gay Rights Victory

AP The US state of New York has approved same-sex marriage, handing American gay rights advocates a major victory in their quest for equality…

One of the pivotal Republicans, State Senator Stephen Saland, had voted against a similar bill two years ago, but on Friday pledged the deciding vote in favor the law. He called his change of heart “a vote of conscience” and said he was “doing the right thing.”

Gay couples in the legislative gallery wept as they listened to his speech.

In approving the law, the state joins Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Iowa and Washington, D.C. in allowing gay couples to marry.

The legislative debate coincided with President Barack Obama’s speech Thursday before a group of gay rights supporters at a campaign fundraising event in New York City.

Obama told the crowd that gay couples deserve the same legal rights as any other couple in this country, but he did not fully endorse same-sex marriage.  The president has upset gay rights activists for his support of civil unions over marriage, but recently said his views on the matter are “evolving.”

Obama defended his administration’s record on gay rights, including repealing the ban on homosexuals serving in the military, and ordering the Justice Department to stop defending a law that narrowly defines marriage as that between a man and a woman.

This action was supposedly part of  “quest for equality”?  It was even called “a vote of conscience”.

Is that how the Bible views it?

The Bible teaches that homosexuality is wrong and that homosexuality leads to destruction.

Notice some of what the New Testament teaches:

22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.  (Romans 1:22-32)

Notice that the Bible says that those who approve of wrong practices deserve punishment just like those who have wrong practices.  It also teaches:

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil…(Isaiah 5:20)

Homosexual acts are clearly condemned as an abomination in scripture:

22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (Leviticus 20:13)

Notice what happened to “equal” societies of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

And why did it happen?

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Sexual immorality related to going after “strange flesh” is a biblical reference to same gender sexual relations.

Why mention what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah in the 21st century? Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)

Thus, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were to serve as an example to those who would live as they did.  Apparently those in favor of the New York vote overlooked the risks that the Bible warns about.  Do they not realize that equality with Sodom and Gomorrah is what they will end up with?

The Bible is clear that destruction like that which happened to Sodom and Gomorrah are likely to happen again to those who ignore the warnings:

14 “I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone…19 and so it may not happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart’ — as though the drunkard could be included with the sober.   20 “The Lord would not spare him; for then the anger of the Lord and His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and the Lord would blot out his name from under heaven…23 ‘The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the Lord overthrew in His anger and His wrath.’ 24 All nations would say, ‘Why has the Lord done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ 25 Then people would say: ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers…(Deuteronomy 29:14, 19-20, 23-25)

Of course, the Bible teaches that homosexuals (and others) need to repent.  Here is some of what the Apostle Paul wrote:

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.  (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

Repentance can help all individuals, whether homosexual or not.

The moral trends in the USA are not good as most of the sins the Apostle Paul listed seem to be increasing as well as seem to be getting wider acceptance.

Notice something that happened today:

President Obama Says NY Gay Marriage Vote Is Process Working ‘As It Should’

Many of the national leaders of the USA seem to be unwilling condemn what is happening, instead many endorse it.

Thousands of years ago, the Prophet Daniel was asked to interpret some handwriting that was written on a wall by only a hand that the king of the area personally witnessed (which is why he ultimately called Daniel to see it).  The moral trend in that kingdom was not good according to Daniel (Daniel 5:22-23).  After stating that, here is the interpretation that the prophet Daniel gave of that handwriting on the wall:

24 Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.

25 “And this is the inscription that was written:

MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

26 This is the interpretation of each word. Mene: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 Tekel: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 Peres: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”  (Daniel 5:24-28)

That kingdom was taken over that very night (Daniel 5:30-31).

So, let us look at the words from the wall and apply them to the United States.

1. Mene:  Your days as being on the top of the world order are numbered.
2. Mene: Despite signs of your decline, instead of repenting, you seem to be taking steps to speed it up–you are soon to be finished.
3. Tekel: Your morality and “conscience” have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting.
4. Peres/Upharsin: Your nation will be divided by the final Beast, the King of the North (Daniel 11:39), and he will make your people slaves as your nation will be finished.

As I have written many times, I doubt that the USA will have national repentance, so it is on the way to destruction.  But that does not preclude individual repentance.

Turning to God is the only answer. And this is something you can do –whether you are American or not. Even a report from the Congressional Budget Office this week warned that the USA is risking a “sudden fiscal crisis” that could have devastating consequences (see CBO Warns of ‘Sudden’ Debt Crisis), and according to the Bible, the consequences will be even worse than the CBO imagined.

The trend towards the acceptance of homosexual marriage is one more sin in the USA that will contribute to its destruction.  Can you see the handwriting on the wall?

The United States is experiencing disasters of biblical “extremes.” Vast areas of the country are suffering drought, flooding, or wildfires.Much of the central U.S. is under water, as the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers and many of their tributaries overflow their banks and levees. Levees have been blown up and flood gates opened, flooding tens of thousands of acres of farmland and hundreds of homes, in order to spare larger towns down river. All this prompted one Army Corps of Engineers spokesman to comment, “There’s never been a flood of this magnitude on the upper Mississippi” (USA Today, May 5, 2011). If record snow packs in the Rocky and Cascade Mountains melt too rapidly there could be additional devastating flooding.

Meanwhile, 52 “major” wildfires are burning across the U.S. So far in 2011, more than 32,000 wildfires of various sizes have burned more than 7,000 square miles–an area larger than the state of Connecticut. This is about three million acres more than last year.

Forecasts call for continued major drought conditions in western Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma, and eastern New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona (Reuters, June 22, 2011).

Long ago God warned the rebellious Israelites, “I also withheld rain from you, when there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, and where it did not rain the part withered… Yet you have not returned to Me” (Amos 4:7-8).

Regrettably, this is exactly what is happening today, in a nation that is turning away from God and His ways!

Famines and troubles, of course,  are biblically expected:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

The weather situations around the world affect many things, including the economy, people’s lives, and the food supply. The fact that so much is happening now, may be consistent with certain end time prophecies. But the end is not yet.

The US Congressional Budget Office is warning a sudden credit crisis:

Congress should act now to avoid ‘sudden crisis’

Wisconsin State Journal, 24 June 2011…

“The sharp rise in debt stems partly from lower tax revenues and higher federal spending related to the recent severe recession,” according to the CBO report. “However, the growing debt also reflects an imbalance between spending and revenue that predated the recession.”…

“But the budget outlook, for both the coming decade and beyond, is daunting,” according to the report.

The US Congressional Budget Office seems to have come to a similar conclusion to the Bible.  Notice:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

Of course, the CBO, while indicating that verse 7 may be fulfilled, did not say (or hint) anything related to verse 8.  Yet, both will come to pass.

Let’s look at another warning in Isaiah 30:12-13:

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:

“Because you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them,  13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.

Of course, more and more, the Anglo-American nations are trusting in policies that encourage and trust perversity–the move to accept “homosexual marriage” in the USA is one more step that way.  Some homosexual groups have been praising US President Obama this week for his “evolving” view towards the acceptance of homosexual marriage or some other forms of recognized homosexual unions (Huntsman isn’t ‘evolving’ on gay marriage like Obama).  The CBO recognizes that the USA is at risk of a major and sudden fiscal crisis, but while it mainly is looking at debt, it has failed to understand why such debt has occurred.

The Bible clearly warns that an indebted people (and the UK has possibly the highest per capita debt in the world, with the USA the highest total debt) will be destroyed by people whose language that they do not understand, and that the destruction will be fairly total:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).

Abortion is another way that the USA has trusted in the oppression of the unborn and the perversity of many of its citizens as it does not serve God in that way.

Since the Roe vs. Wade pro-abortion decision in 1973, the USA has became the greatest debtor nation in the history of humankind.  Since the USA owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening to it now.  Of course, abortion is something that the current USA President is a strong supporter of.

Notice also the following about the USA:

In real terms, as mentioned above, US growth in the 21st century seems to have fallen back to medieval levels. Why?…Because the economy failed to produce real growth. Coincidence or curse?

The USA is starting to reap what it has been sowing, and yes, there will be a time when its “creditors rise up suddenly” and “All the remnant of the people shall plunder” it.  The CBO is hoping that political decisions will stop creditors from rising up suddenly.  But that would take national repentance, which does not seem likely at this time.  Though personal repentance is still an option.  The USA will collapse and more and more signs of its eminent collapse are at least partially being seen by some of its secular leaders.

At least one top Israeli leader believes that there is a frantic arms race now going on in the Middle East:

“The Middle East is in the throes of a frantic arms race, both in numbers of weapons and unbelievable financial costs”, Maj. Gen. Ido Nehoshtan, the commander of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), told IsraelDefense this week.

“The race is going on in almost every country in the region, including organizations like Hamas and Hizbullah. Whoever can buy [weapons] – buys [them], and invests all his efforts in force building. It’s just about being equipped with smart weapons, but also with inexpensive devices that we learned can be extremely threatening. Syria, for example, is getting new armament from Russia while it also invests in air power and anti-aircraft missiles,” added Nehoshtan.  http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/145130

The Bible tells of a time that a group, called the King of the South, that seems like an Islamic-Arabic confederation, will rise up and consider itself some type of a military power.

Despite the the final King of the North is prophesied to have success against the people with the “strongest fortresses” (Daniel 11:39), who are apparently the Anglo-descended nations led by the USA, the King of the South will decide to push militarily against the King of the North (Daniel 11:40).

In order to do this, the King of the South must believe that it has the military capability to launch such a strike.  Currently it appears that many in the Middle East are even now attempting to build up that type of military capability.  And while the Islamic states are not yet nearly strong enough for that challenge now, that does not mean that they will not continue to build up arms for the time that they may wish to push the Europeans (which often still are considered to be “crusaders”) far away from trying to influence them.

Events in both Europe (which is getting increasingly anti-Islamic) and the Middle East (which is getting weary of European influence) are setting the stage for a final conflict between the two (though probably two treaties, at least one of which is likely to be a “peace deal”, involving both sides is expected–and both treaties are biblically expected to be broken; see Daniel 9:27 and 11:27).

Geert Wilders’, a leader of an anti-Islamic Netherlands political party, got some positive legal news today:

Dutch Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders was acquitted by a court of charges that he made remarks defaming Muslims, ending a three-year prosecution that he described as a bid to restrict his freedom of speech.

Wilders, 47, was charged with inciting hatred and discrimination and insulting Muslims for calling the Koran “fascist” and comparing it to Adolf Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf” in a 2007 Dutch newspaper editorial.

This morning the Court of Amsterdam has acquitted Geert Wilders of all charges. “I am delighted with this ruling,” says Geert Wilders. “It is a victory, not only for me but for all the Dutch people. Today is a victory for freedom of speech. The Dutch are still allowed to speak critically about islam, and resistance against islamisation is not a crime. I have spoken, I speak and I shall continue to speak.”

This decision marks another step towards Europeans being able to draw a line between themselves and their Islamic immigrants.

The reality is that throughout Europe anti-Islamic sentiment is rising up and the Netherland, like some other European nations may also ban veils or burqas, like France has (Headscarf debate returns to spotlight in Europe. http://africa.ibtimes.com/articles/67932/20101002/headscarf-veil-islamic-muslim-veil-france-netherlands-turkey-ban.htm).

While I do not believe at this time that Geert Wilders will be the final biblical “king of the north”, the fact that he has been rising up in the Netherlands, and now has been acquitted, suggests that many of the Europeans are inclined, even in the 21st century, to accept a more radical top leader than many would have thought possible.

The Bible shows that a European military leader will line up with a religious power from the city of seven hills (Revelation 17) and ultimately defeat the forces of Islam (Daniel 11:40-43).  But before this happens, the ability of leaders to publicly criticize Islam would seem to be necessary.  And this seems to now be legally sanctioned.

The U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman apparently does not understand the USA economy according to an article in Forbes late today:

Brutally honest, Bernanke admitted that he had no clue what was actually causing the current fragility in the U.S. economic recovery.

Perhaps he should read the scriptures on blessings and cursings in the Bible as they mention that being confused is a curse from God:

20 The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. 21 The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. 22 The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish.  (Deuteronomy 28:20-22)

(Biblical concepts such as tithing, land sabbaths, and observance of jubilee years are something else the Fed Chairman does not understand–and they impact the economic cycles.)

The same Forbes article today also stated:

Patting himself on the back, Bernanke once again defended his controversial programs of long-term asset purchases, dubbed QE1 and 2.  “People don’t appreciate how pernicious deflation could be” for the economy, said the chairman, who then said QE2 saved the economy from deflation and was completely justified at the time.  “[Back then] we were missing on both sides of our dual mandate, today we are much closer [to fulfilling it].”  http://blogs.forbes.com/afontevecchia/2011/06/22/bernanke-admits-hes-clueless-on-economys-soft-patch/

Yet, inflating the money supply through currency debasing (QE1 and QE2) and debt (“stimulus” programs) is not something advocated in the Bible.  Notice:

4 Take away the dross from silver (Proverbs 25:4a).

25 I will turn My hand against you,
And thoroughly purge away your dross,
And take away all your alloy.  (Isaiah 1:25)

22 Your silver has become dross, Your wine mixed with water.  (Isaiah 1:22)

Dross is a cheaper metal that is normally placed inside a covering of a precious metal like silver.  Governments began to do this thousands of years ago when they had financial problems.  Putting dross into silver cheapens currency, just like putting water into wine dilutes the wine’s value.  In modern times, government spending in excess of revenues and quantitative easing programs (QE1 and QE2, from the Fed Chairman) are a way to dilute the value of currencies.  This is not the biblical solution to US economic problems.

Now, the real cause of why all of this is happening is sin.  Because of it’s increasing secularism, greed, and tolerance for sexual, abortive, and other sins, the USA is getting closer to reaping more what it has sown:

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. (Galatians 6:7-8)

One of the many cursings that were prophesied in the Bible to be reaped for disobedience was that of accumulation of debt:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45).

As the Anglo-American nations have not kept God’s commandments, they have become the greatest debtor nations of all time!

WORLD FOREX: Bernanke Shoots Down QE3 Speculation, Lifting Dollar

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke left the door open to a fresh shot of monetary stimulus should the economic rebound he’s predicting fail to materialize.

Despite the Fed’s Chairman’s views, quantitative easing has been another way that the USA has been plundering nations. It was producing currency without the production of goods to back it up.  It still seems that there will be a QE3 or “stimulus” (or something similar but probably called something else) as inflating the money supply seems to be the approach that the US government has taken to attempt to “fix” the economy.   It is not that “quantitative easing”, etc. cannot have any temporary positive effects, it is that it does not get to the cause of the problem–which is sin that requires repentance.  And repentance is not an option that many government leaders have seriously considered.

At some point in time, the USA will likely start to experience massive inflation (which is something that the Fed Chairman should realize). And afterwards, its creditors will rise up.

The world is changing and the USA and its Anglo-descended allies are losing their financial dominance in the world. And while there will be some temporary rises in the value of the US dollar for a while (and likely when there is more civil unrest in Europe), the trend for the US dollar and economy is clearly down.

Quantitative easing will apparently help fulfill the prophecy in Habakkuk 2:3,6,7.  Notice that God mentions that that destruction will happen to those that increased their debt at the end time:

The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end and seems to be directed to one or more nations like the USA. It makes little sense that it would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence.

Since the USA has the most debt of any nation of all time, it seems to be a leading (though not necessarily only) candidate to be included in it. Increasing deficits puts the USA in a dangerous position that Bible prophecy indicates that it will not be able to recover from.

Let’s briefly look at another warning in Isaiah 30:12-13:

Of course, more and more, the Anglo-American nations are trusting in policies that encourage perversity. Prostitution is legal in New Zealand, Australia, and parts of the USA. New Zealand, interestingly, has the highest promiscuity rate for women in the entire world according to one study (New Zealand women most promiscuous Sydney Morning Herald AAP – Oct 13, 2007. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007/10/13/1191696214489.html). The Anglo-nations have seen rises in homosexuality and are often changing laws to accomodate this biblically prohibited practice.

While there is oppression in these nations (especially racial), the Hebrew word for it can also be translated “unjust gain”. This can include not just the historical exploitation of of various peoples, but can probably also include the fact that the economies of the Anglo-American nations for the past few decades has been benefiting from the gains of foreigners loaning money to it.
