Saudi Arabia is working towards Arab unity and trying to get some type of understanding with Iran:
Gulf Arab countries to discuss unity in SeptemberSaudi Arabia’s King Abdullah proposed integration with Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman in response to uprisings in the Arab world and Iran threat. The foreign ministers of six Gulf Arab countries will meet in September to discuss a plan for closer integration of the mostly Sunni Muslim monarchies, Saudi Arabia’s English-language Arab News reported on Sunday.
Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah proposed last December that the Gulf Cooperation Council, which also includes Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, should move “to the stage of unity in a single entity” in response to uprisings in the Arab world and the perceived threat from Iran.
The initiative to move to a Gulf union will be discussed by the GCC foreign ministers when they convene next month,” said Abdulatif al-Zayani, the group’s secretary general, in comments carried by Arab News.

Saudi invites Iran for extraordinary Muslim summitSaudi King Abdullah invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for an extraordinary summit of Muslim leaders to be held this month in the holy city of Mecca, state news agency SPA reported Sunday.
The Saudi monarch “sent a written letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inviting him to attend the extraordinary Islamic solidarity meeting which will be held in Mecca” in mid-August, SPA reported.
Tensions have been running high between the Sunni-dominated kingdom and Shiite Iran as both regional powers had taken opposite stances on the uprisings in Bahrain and Syria.

The Bible tells of the rise of a power that seems to include mainly Arab and Islamic peoples called the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43). Now, the Bible also specifically includes Egypt and some near it in this confederation (see also Ezekiel 30:1-8).
Syria, who seems to be one of the nations that will support the coming King of the South (which is why I have long said that changes must happen in and/or from the Assad regime), made the news today for the following:
New York Times – 6 August 2012BEIRUT, Lebanon – President Bashar al-Assad fired his prime minister on Monday, Syria’s official media reported, as activists countered that he had defected with several officials and military commanders in what seemed a further indication of disarray.Reuters – 6 August 2012 By Hadeel Al Shalchi | ALEPPO, Syria Aug 6 (Reuters) – Fearful of deadly retribution for his defection to Jordan, Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab sought help from rebels to spirit dozens of family members out of the country and beyond the reach of .
Presuming this is true, this is a serious change in the Assad regime and more change is coming. Not only to it, but the entire Arab world.
Notice some ancient peoples that are prophesied to ally with Egypt for a time:
1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
“‘Wail and say, “Alas for that day!” 3 For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near- a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations. 4 A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.
5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.
6 “‘This is what the LORD says:
“‘The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign LORD. 7 “‘They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities. 8 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.
9 “‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come (Ezekiel 30:1-9, NIV).
Notice who the Arabic nations now are:
The Arab world (Arabic: العالم العربي) (al-`alam al-`arabi) consists of 22 countries stretching from Mauritania in the west to Oman in the east. They have a combined population of 323 million people…The Arabic language forms a unifying feature of the Arab World…While this has often been a matter of dispute, the following entities (18 states and two territories) are considered part of the Arab World as all use Arabic as one of their official state languages, and most of their inhabitants speak one or more of the Arabic languages and dialects (though ethnically quite varied):
- Algeria
- Bahrain
- Egypt
- Iraq
- Jordan
- Kuwait
- Lebanon
- Libya
- Mauritania
- Morocco
- Oman
- Palestinian territories
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Sudan
- Syria
- Tunisia
- United Arab Emirates
- Western Sahara (SADR)
- Yemen

These nations are mainly descended from the peoples listed in Ezekiel 30:1-9 and Daniel 11:40-43.
Currently it looks like perhaps those of North Africa are somewhat supporting the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood and those in the Arab Peninsula Saudi Arabia. And those groups, along with (temporarily) Turkey (who escapes per Daniel 11:41, and hence does not fall like those listed in either Daniel 11:40-43 or Ezekiel 30:1-9), and possibly Iran, etc. will apparently make up the support for the final King of the South.
As a general rule, the Arab League is made up of countries that are primarily Sunni Muslims, like Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Because of its oil reserves and money, Saudi Arabia has an influence disproportionate to the size of its population, yet because of its population, Egypt will have a lot of influence.
As far as Egypt goes, notice the following:
Gatestone Institute – Depending on whom you believe, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood will ally with Saudi Arabia (according to Fouad Ajami) or Iran (according to former Indian diplomat M.K…the Saudis hate and fear the Muslim Brotherhood as much as they hate and fear Iran, because the Muslim Brotherhood is the only force with the potential to overthrow the Saudi monarchy…Once in power, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi cannot afford to antagonize Saudi Arabia, because Egypt is living hand-to-mouth on Saudi subsidies…The Turks will help because they depend on Saudi finance, too.
It is true that the Saudis are concerned about the Muslim Brotherhood, but that does not mean that there will not be some type of deal or alliance. Actually, since the Bible shows that there will be, it is likely that the alliance that will become the final King of the South will be somewhat weak. That, too, is consistent with biblical prophecy, as some of the King of the South’s allies will betray it (cf. Daniel 11:25-26) and the King of the North will let some of the nations in apparent confederation with the King of the South (like Turkey and some of the Arabs) escape per Daniel 11:41–but “the land of Egypt shall not escape” (Daniel 11:42).
Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt are taking steps that will result in increased Arab unity for the prophecies of the Bible to be fulfilled.
