U.S. President Barack Obama and Gulf state leaders met in Riyadh to discuss ways they can work more closely to help stabilize the conflict-ridden Middle East region, despite differences on the best way forward.

(CNN) The White House moved to tamp down suggestions that ties with Saudi Arabia are fraying, with administration officials saying that President Barack Obama “really cleared the air” with King Salman at a meeting Wednesday.
Yet even as White House officials stressed that the leaders made progress, a prominent member of the Saudi royal family told CNN “a recalibration” of the U.S.-Saudi relationship was needed amid regional upheaval, dropping oil prices and ongoing strains between the two longtime allies. …
Statements after the meeting made clear that deep differences remain on several of these points, with the two sides agreeing to disagree and a U.S. official characterizing the encounter as the start of a discussion rather than a venue for solutions.
But the two leaders glossed over some of the thorniest matters, including a Saudi threat to dump U.S. assets if Obama signs into law a bill that could make the kingdom liable for damages stemming from the September 11 terror attacks.
There is going to have to be “a recalibration of our relationship with America,” former Saudi Intelligence Chief Prince Turki Al-Faisal told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “How far we can go with our dependence on America, how much can we rely on steadfastness from American leadership, what is it that makes for our joint benefits to come together,” Turki said in a significant departure from usual Saudi rhetoric. “These are things that we have to recalibrate.” …
The Saudis have little confidence in Obama’s commitment to their security and fear he’s shifting U.S. attentions to its rival, Iran; Obama has described the Saudis as “so-called allies” and has complained their policies fuel anti-U.S. terror and regional chaos. …

Saudi Arabia is not pleased with many actions by the Obama Administration as well as other actions in the USA. A couple of days ago it threatened to dump $750 billion dollars in USA debt if USA decides that the Saudi government can be sued for matters related to the 9/11/2001 terrorist attack.
Now notice that Hussein Ibish (who is a senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington) does not believe that Saudi Arabia has a real alternative to the USA. And while that may be the case now, actions and inactions by the Obama Administration are getting the Saudis to decide that they need a different plan.
Which means?
The Saudis will try to develop a coalition of mainly Arab nations, while eventually being part of a deal with Europe. A deal that will NOT end well for the USA (cf. Psalm 83:3-8). In the mean time, the USA does NOT want the Saudis to dump their US debt, so the USA will try to placate Saudi Arabia. And just because the Saudis may not make all their intentions public, that does not mean that they will not take steps that they believe is in their best interest.
Here is something that the old Radio Church of God published about that nearly 50 years ago:
Turn to the astounding prophecy found in Psalm 83:1-8. David, inspired of God, predicted the coming time when ALL of Israel’s enemies would join together in an effort to crush out even the name “Israel” from the face of the earth! (Verse 4) “For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee…” (verse 5). Notice the nations making up this confederation. “Edom [Turkey], and the Ishmaelites [Saudi Arabia]; Moab [Jordan], and the Hagarenes [they anciently dwelt in the land known as Syria today]; Gebal {Lebanon}, and Ammon [Jordan] and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur [whose descendants migrated to Germany] is joined with them; they have helped the children of Lot” {Moab and Ammon in modern Jordan). Here we see that the Arab nations mentioned are allied with Germany (Assur) which we know from other prophecies will be the military leader — naturally so — of a United States of Europe…Egypt…will provoke the prophesied United Europe (Dan. 11:40). This European power — called the “king of the north” in Daniel 11 — shall invade and occupy the “glorious land” of Palestine (verse 41). “And the land of Egypt shall not escape” (Boraker R. SYRIA RAIDS ISRAEL – Where Is It Leading? Plain Truth. November 1966)
Psalm 83 tells of a deal between the Arabs and Europeans. In the 21st century, former WCG member Craig White had a slightly different identification of the nations in Psalm 83:
“Keep not Thou silence O God …
For lo, Thine enemies make a tumult …
They have taken crafty counsel against Thy people …
They have said, ‘Come and let us cut them off from being a nation: that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.’
They are confederate against thee:
The Tabernacles of Edom [Turkey and Central Asia], and the Ishmaelites [Saudi Arabia], Of Moab [Jordan, with some in Syria and Iraq] and the Hagarenes [Saudi Arabia]:
Gebal [in Lebanon] and Ammon [Jordan], and Amalek [Central Asians]: the Philistines [Berbers and possibly the Palestinians] with the inhabitants of Tyre [southern Italians, symbolic also of the United Europe]

Psalm 83 is a deal between the Arabs and Europe. The USA will not like how this deal will turn out.
I would also add that the deal of Psalm 83 is very likely to involve terrorism–taking “crafty counsel” (as Psalm 83:3 states) sounds like plotting terrorism (see also Why Terrorism? Is Terrorism Prophesied?).
The Europeans will make a destructive deal with those of the Middle East and North Africa. It would seem that the King of the South will employ some type of warfare and terrorism against the end time descendants of Israel. The Bible specifically warns about “terror” as a curse for the descendants of Jacob (Leviticus 26:16; Jeremiah 15:8; Deuteronomy 32:25) and since terrorism has often been used by Islamists, this may be part of how they will contribute to the destruction of the nation of Israel and the Anglo-descended peoples that Psalm 83 and Daniel 11:39 alludes to. This deal in the 83rd Psalm will affect the USA, Canada, UK, and possibly Australia and even New Zealand.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia hosted the world’s largest military exercise called “North Thunder” (see World’s largest military exercise taking place in Saudi Arabia–a prelude to the King of the South?). Saudi Arabia is looking to build a coalition that has similarities to many of the peoples in the confederation of Psalm 83 as well as the King of the South of biblical prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:40-43).
Consider that the Bible tells of a time when the King of the South will have a massive army:
25 And the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall devise plans against him. 26 Yes, those who eat of the portion of his delicacies shall destroy him; his army shall be swept away, and many shall fall down slain. (Daniel 11:25-26)
The Bible also shows that the King of the South will make one or more deals with the European King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:27).
Many do not realize that nations like Saudi Arabia are very concerned about their security and simply are not willing fully trust the USA anymore. While Saudi Arabia is not yet in a position to bolt from the USA, the fact that it wants to ‘re-calibrate’ its relationship shows that it plans to take steps to be less dependent upon the USA.
A coalition of nations in the Middle East and North Africa will end up with a massive army and make arrangements with the rising European power.
This will NOT turn out well for the King of the South (Daniel 11:25; 11:40-43). However it will first be a disaster for the USA (Daniel 11:39) and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Jeremiah 30:7).
