Abbas: Palestinians to halt agreements with Israel

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says the Palestinians will no longer abide by previous agreements made with Israel.
His announcement followed an emergency meeting after Israel razed Palestinian buildings it said were illegally built on the edge of Jerusalem.
Agreements signed over the past 25 years cover many spheres of activity, including security co-operation.
Israel has not yet responded to the move.
Mr Abbas said a committee would be formed to work out how to implement the decision.
Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have heightened in recent days after the demolition of the buildings in Wadi Hummus (an area of Sur Baher), which Israel’s High Court said had been built too close to its West Bank barrier. …
Mr Abbas blamed Israel for the latest step, accusing it of reneging on agreements first.
“In light of the insistence of the occupation authority [Israel] to deny all the signed agreements and their obligations, we announce the decision of the leadership to stop working in accordance with the agreements signed with the Israeli side,” he was quoted by the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, as saying. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-49125785

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas slammed the recent Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes as “ethnic cleansing” and said he would cut cooperation with Israeli authorities.
“We announce the leadership’s decision to stop implementing the agreements signed with the Israeli side,” he said after meeting other Palestinian officials in the West Bank city of Ramallah …
Israelis and Palestinians cooperate on a range of issues, from water supply to security considerations. Abbas did not specify which deals might be discontinued. In his statement, he also said Palestinians would immediately form a committee to implement the decision. …
Earlier this week, Israeli forces razed dozens of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, on a territory administered by the Palestinian Authority. Israel said the structures were too close to the separation barrier and that demolishing them was necessary for “reasons of security.”
The move was slammed by the EU and the UN as contrary to international law. …
On Friday, Abbas said that Palestinians “will not succumb to the dictates and the imposing of a fait accompli on the ground with brute force, specifically in Jerusalem,” according to the WAFA news agency.
He also rejected US President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century” between Israel and the Palestinians, emphasizing that “Palestine and Jerusalem are not for sale or bargain.”

The Palestinians are mad. Halting existing agreements with Israel will increase tensions in the region.
And, of course, the Palestinians do not want to be bought off by the US (see also Jared Kushner pushing for part of a peace deal that the Palestinians are not (currently) interested in).
The reality is that the Palestinian Authority is outraged by the demolition of homes for the Palestinians, plus it does not trust the Trump Administration.
That being said, the time will come when there will be a temporary ‘peace deal’ (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).
With President Abbas again slamming the Trump Administration’s ‘deal of the century’ plan, but also stating that he is interested in peace, this leaves the door open for the Europeans to be more involved in some type of deal involving Israel.
This is consistent with biblical prophecy that shows that a European leader will also be involved in confirming the coming prophesied deal of Daniel 9:26-27, which states:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
The “prince” is a European leader who is later called the King of the North in Daniel 11:40. The ‘one week’ has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that is broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). This break is also confirmed in the following scripture:
31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)
The “him” is the King of the North. And the above is consistent with breaking the deal in the middle of the week as Daniel 9:27 points out will happen.
Why is Daniel 9:27 believed to be a type of ‘peace deal’?
Well, notice some other scriptures that discuss this leader who will confirm the deal as a prince, but later be the King of the North in Daniel 11 (he is also called the Beast from the sea in Revelation 13:1-10):
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
So this European leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties. Land swaps or changes to territories are likely.
Since the prophesied deal has not been confirmed, at least not publicly, the Great Tribulation would seem to be at least 3 1/2 years away (you may also wish to watch a short video: Might the Great Tribulation start in 2019?).
So, what does this mean for now?
It looks like the Palestinians will not currently accept the deals being proposed by the Trump Administration.
Yet, that does NOT mean that the Palestinians will not, in the future, accept some details of some plan similiar to what the USA is expected to be proposing.
The Palestinians will, for a time, accept a temporary peace deal according to the Bible.
Neither the current government of Israel nor the Palestinian Authority trust each other.
Neither the current government of Israel nor the Palestinian Authority want to accept the deals that have been publicly proposed.
Yet, peace deals normally happen after major conflict.
Thus it is probably safe to conclude that the acceptance by the Palestinians and the Israelis of the Daniel 9:27 deal is likely to come after more violent conflict in the Middle East.
Despite Israeli bulldozing and hopes, the current State of Israel will end up losing land. The Palestinians gaining more than the Israelis likely think is possible–but much of that loss would not be part of the Daniel 9 deal (for details, check out the scriptures in the article Gaza and the Palestinians in Bible Prophecy).
But, and perhaps after military conflict with Iran and Syria, a temporary peace deal will be agreed to.
