9/11/16 and the ‘war on terror’ has not been won: The USA will be hit by more terrorism

On September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists took over four commercial airliners and crashed them. Here is a report out about it today:

The United States is marking the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, when al-Qaida terrorists hijacked planes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon near Washington. Another plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania.

President Barack Obama observed a moment of silence at the White House Sunday at 8:46 a.m., when the first of the four hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center, before speaking at a ceremony at the Pentagon honoring those killed in the attacks. …

As they have been in past 9/11 commemorations in New York, the names of the 2,983 killed that horrifying day will be read slowly by their relatives as music plays in the background. As daylight ends Sunday in New York, spotlights will project two giant beams of light into the sky to represent the fallen twin towers of the World Trade Center. …

Nineteen hijackers, 15 of them from Saudi Arabia, were killed in the attacks, which led directly to the U.S. war in Afghanistan, where al-Qaida trained attackers against the United States, and indirectly to the war in Iraq. The U.S. still has thousands of forces in Afghanistan and Iraq even as it has ended large-scale combat operations.

Obama said a lot has changed over the past 15 years, but “it’s also important to remember what has not changed – the core values that define us as Americans. I would disagree with Barack Obama about ‘core values’ not changing. The USA government has eliminated almost all privacy, redefined marriage, redefined gender identity, and made airline travel more difficult. Bible believing Americans have lost many rights since 9/11.

And the terrorist threat is growing.

The al-Qaida organization once led by Osama bin Laden has been decimated and is no longer capable of orchestrating a sophisticated, trans-national plot on its own, terrorism experts say they believe. Al-Qaida’s branches in North Africa and Yemen also have been weakened by Western military strikes and ongoing fighting with rival factions.

But al-Qaida’s powerful and locally popular Syrian branch, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, commands an army of thousands of trained fighters and now serves as a base for senior al-Qaida operatives experienced in making explosives and carrying out terrorist attacks, U.S. officials and terrorism experts say. The Syrian group recently announced it had split with al-Qaida, but U.S. officials say the claim is not credible.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State, despite military setbacks in Iraq and Syria, has demonstrated a growing capability to direct – or inspire – simple-but-lethal terrorist attacks around the world.

“The threat is actually worse: It has metastasized and spread geographically,” said Richard Clarke, a top terrorism adviser to three presidents and the man who famously warned the Bush administration about the growing risk from al-Qaida in the weeks before 9/11. “Today there are probably 100,000 people in the various terrorist groups around the world, and that’s much larger than anything we had 15 years ago.”

Both the Bush and Obama administrations thwarted multiple terrorist plots and achieved significant military successes against specific terrorist factions and key leaders, including al-Qaida in Iraq founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in 2006, bin Laden in 2011 and the Islamic State’s No. 2 commander, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, who reportedly was killed in a U.S. airstrike last month. Yet both administrations struggled to find a formula for blunting the appeal of violent jihadist groups or preventing thousands of young Muslims from enlisting in a global movement fueled by hatred and bent on destruction.

There is little to show for more than a decade’s worth of U.S.-sponsored programs aimed at countering extremist messages, terrorism experts say, and U.S. officials have struggled to block the jihadists’ use of social media or disrupt international funding and support for extreme interpretations of Islam. Meanwhile, U.S. policies, from the Iraq invasion in 2003 to the ongoing use of armed drones against suspected terrorists, have helped drive new recruits to al-Qaida and the Islamic State, former U.S. officials and analysts say.

“We generate more enemies than we are able to take out,” said former congresswoman Jane Harman, D-Calif., a chairwoman of the House Intelligence Committee in the years after 9/11, who now is president of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. “Our military power remains extraordinary. But winning this fight requires projecting a narrative about American values and interests. Terrorist incidents, according to the US government, are increasing (see State Department: 35% increase in terrorist activities). And that does not include many incidents involving police officers in the past year that are not considered to be terrorist acts.

It should be noted that, in many ways, ultimately, it will be worse than Americans believe possible.

I believe that the Bible shows that King of the North will invade (Daniel 11:39) and in conjunction with the terrorism from King of the South (Psalm 83:3-8). This will cause the end of the USA and this is at least alluded to in Deuteronomy 32:25. The King of the South will be a type of confederation of states in North Africa and the Middle East according to Daniel 11:40-43.

Since 9/11/2001, the USA has thwarted many suspected terrorist plots. It, also however, has done so with the view that it can deny its residents of most, it not all, of the liberties that the USA has long been proud of. How it now treats its residents and visitors at airports, including disabled ones, is let’s simply say, intrusive. Citizens of the USA do not have many of the rights that their constitution allegedly provided for as those rights get in the way of government surveillance (How USA and UK espionage defeats internet privacy) which is sometimes related to looking for potential terrorists and other times other matters–sometimes judges intervene (NSA illegally and unconstitutionally collected data on US residents), but the trend has been for this surveillance to increase (e.g. USA and UK access ‘smart phone’ data).

Despite intrusive government efforts, the time will come when terrors will increase in the USA.

Terrorism was prophesied:

14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. (Leviticus 26:14-17)

25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)

12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; Therefore strike your thigh. (Ezekiel 21:12)

12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease; They increase in riches…19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalms 73:12,19)

25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:25-27)

5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).

What is going to happen to the USA relatively soon will be so much worse than 9/11/2001 ever was (cf. Psalm 83:4-8; Daniel 11:39). Do not wait until it is too late to respond spiritually, so that you may be protected physically. Bringing in Syrian and certain other migrants, which the USA says it will do, sadly will likely result in some of them fulfilling some of the prophecies.

Without national repentance, the USA is doomed. Since the USA seems to be going more into sin nationally, that seems unlikely. Yet, personal repentance is still possible. Do you see the winds of change in the USA and elsewhere?
