Beto O’Rourke enters 2020 presidential race. A ‘defining moment of truth’?
Beto O’Rourke (via crockodile)
Former US Congressman Beto O’Rourke announced his candidacy for the office of US President:
March 14, 2019
Former U.S. congressman Beto O’Rourke announced Thursday he is joining the race for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the 2020 presidential election.
He released a video message pledging a positive campaign that embraces the opportunity of facing challenges at what he called a “moment of maximum peril and maximum potential.”
“This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us,” O’Rourke said seated alongside his wife Amy. https://www.voanews.com/a/democrat-beto-o-rourke-announces-2020-white-house-bid/4828571.html
O’Rourke has a preternatural ease. That openness is part of what he loves about campaigning. “I think that’s the beauty of elections: You can’t hide from who you are,” he says. “The more honestly and directly you communicate to people why you’re doing this, the way in which you want to serve them, I just think that the better, more informed decision that they can make.” 03/13/19 https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/03/beto-orourke-cover-story?verso=true
Defining moment of truth? Honestly and directly communicating?
Let’s notice something that casts doubts on his truthfulness:
March 14, 2019
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke announced Thursday that he’ll seek the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, ending months of intense speculation over whether he’d try to translate his newfound political celebrity into a White House bid.
Until he challenged Republican Sen. Ted Cruz last year, O’Rourke was little known outside his hometown of El Paso. But the Spanish-speaking 46-year-old former punk rocker became a sensation during a campaign that used grassroots organizing and social media savvy to mobilize young voters and minorities.
While challenging Cruz, O’Rourke insisted that he had no interest in running for president, vowing to quietly return to El Paso should he lose. https://www.apnews.com/3508c56887c54a5e869d4258c9a2773d
Anyway, the truth he said he wants is not his word nor the Bible. He said the following was his priority:
“Perhaps most importantly of all, because our very existence depends on it, we can unleash the ingenuity and creativity of millions of Americans who want to ensure that we squarely confront the challenge of climate change before it’s too late,” O’Rourke said. https://www.voanews.com/a/democrat-beto-o-rourke-announces-2020-white-house-bid/4828571.html
So, he does not appear to believe that it is highly important (if important to him at all) to obey the God of the Bible, urge national repentance, or seek first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).
Wikipedia has the following about some of his positions:
O’Rourke supports stronger antitrust laws to break up monopolies which he believes “stifle competition and innovation.” He promotes industry and business regulations …
He proposed that politicians work to eliminate private, for-profit prisons, end the “war on drugs,” stop using mandatory minimum sentencing for non-violent drug offenses, end cash bail that disproportionately affects those unable to pay bail with longer jail sentences,[142] and provide reentry programs to reduce recidivism for non-violent criminals. …
O’Rourke voted against the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion[168] and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017,[169] which would have permanently banned the use of federal funds for abortions and reformed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to prohibit qualified health plans from including coverage for abortions.[better source needed]
O’Rourke told the Dallas Voice that he called marriage equality a core civil rights issue during his House primary campaign. While on the El Paso City Council, O’Rourke led a successful fight to overturn the domestic partnership ban.[170] He was a co-sponsor of the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act of 2013 (H.R. 3135).[171]
On healthcare, O’Rourke supports single-payer legislation and universal health coverage, but disagreed with House and Senate proposals.[172] The House bill, John Conyers‘ Medicare For All bill (HR 676), would require that providers be public institutions or nonprofits, but O’Rourke wants to include all providers as Medicare does.[173][174] The Senate bill, supported by Sen. Bernie Sanders, would have no copays, and no premiums for low-income families, but O’Rourke wants everyone to pay in to some extent. He supports stabilization of the insurance markets to improve the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. He also supports the expansion of Medicaid and is a co-sponsor of the Medicare-X Choice Act of 2017. (Beto O’Rourke, retrieved 03/14/19).
So, not a surprise, he supports more government regulations, is strongly pro-abortion, is pushing the dangerous LGBTQ agenda, etc. Basically, on political policy matters, he stands for what many other Democrat party candidates stand for.
He joins various Democrats who have already announced like Senators Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, as well as Representative Tulsi Gabbard and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.
Earlier this year, the left-leaning publication Politico ran the following headline:
It is a sorry state of affairs.
Related to it, the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) put out the following video on our Bible News Prophecy YouTube channel:
Various politicians have announced their intentions to run for the office of the President of the United States in 2020. ‘Politico’ ran an article about the ‘sorry state’ of various candidates. Some candidates have felt the need to apologize for previous statements in support of biblical marriage and the need to endorse items of the LGBTQ agenda. Many also support abortion and other anti-biblical actions. Are these ‘American values’? Should the English language be changed to eliminate male/female and singular pronouns? Does the Bible warn about female leaders? Does the Bible warn about leaders that lead people to err? What about condoning sexual immortality? Do the presidential contenders fit prophecies warned about in 2 Timothy 3:1-5? These are some of the subjects that Dr. Thiel addresses.
Here is a link to the sermonette video: Sorry state of the 2020 presidential campaign.
As for the Republican Donald Trump, here is a link to my article Donald Trump in Prophecy, which has a lot of information about him and many of his issues.
The 2020 presidential election will feature people who are against many aspects of biblical morality.
The Bible itself warns that if the children of Israel sinned and did not repent, the following would happen:
12 As for My people … Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed. (Isaiah 9:16)
It seems like all who are potentially major candidates for the 2020 presidential election advocate and promote several positions which are not biblically good.
The Apostle Paul warned:
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
Many of those statements apply to those who wish to win the 2020 US Presidential election (from whatever political party).
As far as religion goes, Robert (Beto) O’Rourke was raised Roman Catholic.
As far as the climate change agenda goes, the UN, Vatican, World Council of Churches, etc. are all pushing that as well. If the real agenda was to work together to reduce pollution, that would be an admirable goal. But when looking over the proposals and specifics that those highly aligned on this agenda goes, it is basically a push for an unbiblical one world government, as opposed to being focused on the Kingdom of God.
As far as the abortion issue goes, consider that the Bible teaches:
16 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19).
7 Their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; Wasting and destruction are in their paths. 8 The way of peace they have not known, And there is no justice in their ways; They have made themselves crooked paths; Whoever takes that way shall not know peace (Isaiah 59:7-8).
3 Thus says the LORD: “Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place (Jeremiah 22:3).
17 “Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence” (Jeremiah 22:17).
Babies are innocent. Killing them is the shedding of innocent blood. Innocent blood pollutes the land. Furthermore, consider that God’s word records that a leader filled his land “with innocent blood, which the Lord would not pardon” (2 Kings 24:4). Because of that, God had the King of Babylon and others to destroy (2 Kings 24:1-4). The Bible tells of a coming end time daughter of Babylon, and its leader will destroy the USA according to Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:39; see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).
As far as the LGBTQ agenda goes, consider that the Bible tells of an early event that occurred in the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah between three thousand and four thousand years ago:
24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)
And why did it happen?
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)
Homosexuality is a form of sexual immorality that involves going after “strange flesh.”
Why mention this in the 21st century?
Because God turned:
6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)
Thus, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were to serve as an example to those who would live as they did. Yet despite biblical warnings, many modern leaders are endorsing so-called homosexual “rights” and “same-sex marriage.” The Bible, however, warns about such leaders:
12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
So, leaders that ignore what the Bible teaches are leading others toward destruction.
Of course, not everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah were homosexuals as those that strictly practice that could not reproduce. Yet, notice that the destruction that hit their cities destroyed all that were there and notice that something like this is to happen again according to Jesus:
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. (Luke 17:26-29)
Various ones can pretend that promoting “homosexual rights” is acceptable, but the Bible teaches otherwise. A marriage as the above indicates, as do other scriptures (e.g. Matthew 19:4-5), is between a man and woman (for more details see God Created Marriage). Not two of the same sex. But also notice that disaster will come when people were like those in the days of Lot–people who practiced and/or accepted, the homosexual agenda.
Homosexual acts are clearly prohibited in the Bible:
22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)
13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (Leviticus 20:13)
The Bible prohibits and condemns homosexual behavior–the Bible calls it an abomination!
None of who are expected to be candidates for USA president will turn the nation back to God, thus none will truly fix the problems in the USA. It will take the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God to do that.
Politico’s comments about the sorry state of those seeking the office of US President in 2020 is correct, but more so in ways it has not considered.
Anyway, Beto O’Rourke has been a darling of the mainstream media as many had hoped he would have unseated Republican Senator Ted Cruise last November.
But now the media has a lot of people with a similar agenda running for the Democratic nomination and so Beto O’Rourke may not remain a clear favorite. We will see.
The USA will be eliminated as a nation towards the beginning of the Great Tribulation (watch also our sermon video The Bible, the USA, and the King of the West) and whoever wins in 2020 will be a factor in its destruction.
