WASHINGTON – U.S. President Joe Biden joined business and union leaders Friday in touting the economic benefits of addressing global warming when he delivered remarks from the White House on the last day of a two-day virtual climate change summit.
“When we invest in climate resilience and infrastructure, we create opportunities for everyone,” Biden said.
Biden’s remarks at a session on the “economic opportunities of climate action” came one day after he announced a new goal of cutting U.S. greenhouse gas pollution by 50-52% by 2030. …
There is skepticism about the commitment announced Thursday by Biden and there is certain to be a partisan political battle over his pledge to reduce fossil fuel use in every sector of the U.S. economy.
“Toothless requests of our foreign adversaries and maximum pain for American citizens,” reacted the top Republican party leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, calling Biden’s climate plan full of “misplaced priorities.”
World leaders agreed to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius in the 2015 U.N. Paris climate agreement and to aim for 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Averaged over the entire globe, temperatures have increased more than 1.1 degree Celsius since 1980. Scientists link the increase to more severe heat waves, droughts, wildfires, storms and other impacts. The idea that this will result in better jobs, etc. is a hope that not all believe is to be attained.

Yesterday (Thursday April 22) was Earth Day. To mark the occasion, President Biden hosted something called a virtual Leaders’ Climate Summit.
The leaders of major carbon emitting nations joined virtually and pledged to decarbonize the global economy. Biden even said he’d launch an international climate finance plan to underwrite it. …
The virtual summit, as far as we could tell, was a grand exercise in flattery and flagellation. It was also a smoke and mirrors cover for something entirely different.
Here at the Economic Prism we find the term ‘climate crisis’ to be disingenuous. Weather is weather. Sometimes there are fires and floods and hurricanes and blizzards and heatwaves. There always has been. Always will.
The fact that weather is now somehow a climate crisis is big government seizing an opportunity to remold the world nearer to the heart’s desire.
You see, the supposed climate crisis has nothing to do with saving the whales. Like all good central plans, it has everything to do with wealth redistribution. A key feature involves cancelling certain industries while propping up others, like solar and wind power generators. It also involves capturing and redirecting massive amounts of capital.
What to make of it…

Cheap, abundant, clean energy is a commendable goal. We’re all for it. And if it creates new jobs and industries, all the better.
But like all of mankind’s top achievements, private inventers – through ingenuity, experimentation, and repetition – stand the best chance at really attaining it. …
The central planners are setting the stage for epic, government directed renewable energy boondoggles. A full-tilt raid on the public purse that will make everyone rich – except you. Printing press money will be distributed to mega solar and wind generation programs as a matter of monetary and fiscal policy. …
Indeed, there’s something remarkably insincere about the Federal Reserve and the Treasury lining up behind the supposed climate crisis. They’re the grossest polluters of all!

Yes, dealing with pollution is a good thing.
Yet, many who claim to be doing so also look to be pushing economic and political agendas that are not really related.
Expect inflation and other economic concerns.
Regarding food inflation, that is prophesied:
5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)
The situation the world now faces will, at least for a time, worsen. But we are not quite to the start of the ride of that horseman yet.
Something else that is prophesied is more governmental controls over the economy:
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)
This is NOT to say that the Biden-Harris Administration nor the various climate summits intend to do that.
However, some policies that have been advocated are pushing towards that.
