PA Offers Israel: Militarized State based on 1967 Armistice Lines

The Palestinian Authority (PA) penned a letter on Monday to the Quartet on the Middle East saying that they are ready to renew negotiations with Israel while agreeing to “minor territorial exchanges,” according to reports by Ynet News on Monday night.

The Quartet on the Middle East is a group of four including the United Nations, Russia the US, and the European Union tasked with mediating the Israeli–”Palestinian” negotiations.

According to Ynet News, the message that can be considered as a response to President Donald Trump’s Peace Plan, says that the Palestinians are “prepared to renew direct talks” … this is the first time that the Palestinian Authority expressed a will to negotiate with Israel directly.

Ramallah added that its counter-offer will no longer be valid if Israel initiates unilateral annexation “of any part of the Palestinian territory.”

The letter also states that “no one has a vested interest in reaching a peace agreement like the Palestinians, and no one has more to lose from lack of peace than the Palestinians.”

The document highlights what the PA would be willing to tolerate in a prospective peace agreement, adding that they are “willing to have a state with a limited amount of weapons and with a strong police force for maintaining law and order.” The PA added that they’d accept an international observer, like NATO, to receive a mandate from the UN for supervising the potential peace agreement’s execution should it come to fruition.

Ramallah rejected the territorial exchanges offered by Trump’s peace plan, which translates into annexing up to 30% of Judea-Samaria, a process that Netanyahu has been advocating for. https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/153954/pa-offers-israel-militarized-state-based-1967-armistice-lines/

This is interesting for several reasons.

One is that the Palestinians have officially made a proposal. Up to this time it has basically rejected the Trump plan as well as issued warnings against possible Israeli annexation plans.

It now looks like the Palestinian Authority is trying to give Israel a reason (and not just threats) to NOT go forward with the annexations of Judea-Samaria that its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed. This MAY give members of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, a reason to NOT approve Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan. We will see.

If instead, however, the Knesset approves the plan, this will give the Palestinians another reason to object as they will have felt that they made an offer that should have been accepted (or at least led to further talks before any annexation).

Furthermore, notice that the Palestinians are willing to accept international military observers (NATO is a military alliance).

That brings to mind something that Jesus said:

20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (Luke 21:20)

Jesus is saying that the time will come when Jerusalem will be surrounded by armies. NATO is a collection of armies. And while it does NOT have to be NATO, some international collection of armies fit in with Jesus’ prophecy.

The fact that the Palestinians have essentially called for something like what Jesus said would happen suggests we are getting closer to that time–though biblically it is still a few years away for Jesus’ prophecy to be fulfilled. We know that partially because of the following:

21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. (Luke 21:21-22)

We also need to see some type of peace deal confirmed by a European prince 3 1/2 years before the “days of vengeance” as we see a prophecy for a deal that will be broken–and the following deal has still not happened:

26 … And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;

But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate. (Daniel 9:26-27)

The “week” above has traditionally been considered to be seven years. Hence, it being broken in the middle, means something happens 3 1/2 years after the deal is confirmed–and the events then will lead to the start of the “great tribulation” (Matthew 24:21) which are called the “days of vengeance” in Luke 21:22.

So, the prophesied time of Jerusalem being surrounded by armies is not here yet. But the fact that it has essentially been proposed indicates that it will be accepted as part of some future deal in the region.

As far as land and the peace proposals go, let me add that the Palestinian plan is quite different from Donald Trump’s ‘deal of the century,’ officially known as the “Vision for Peace.”

That map is NOT what the Palestinian Authority has proposed.

Thus, there is conflict between the proposals.

We may well expect to see conflict and confrontations on the ground.

Trump’s Deal of the Century and Daniel 9 27?

On January 28, 2020, the Trump Administration revealed its Mideast peace plan, which Donald Trump has referred to as the ‘deal of the century.’ Could it have prophetic ramifications? Could it be the ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:26-27? While many Israeli politicians (such as Benjamin Netanyahu, Benny Gatz, Rafael Minnes) like the deal, various Jewish religious leaders (including the Temple Institute) have raised objections. What have Protestants and the World Council of Churches said about it? Will Jerusalem be divided? Is the USA at risk of troubles (Mark 13:8) and disasters related to this deal? While the architect of the deal, Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner thought he had significant Arab support for the plan, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation rejected it. So, too, has Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as well as Hamas. Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan claimed that he received economic and other threats from the United States for his public objection of the plan. Could Turkey take actions against the USA?
