COVID-19 conspiracy groups who have attempted to undermine efforts to bring the pandemic under control are increasingly sharing climate change misinformation.

The dirty-air crisis in the city of more than 20 million people has underscored India’s heavy dependence on coal, which accounts for 70% of the country’s power.

Media Declares ‘Climate Lockdowns’ a “Conspiracy Theory” as India Prepares to Impose Climate Lockdown

While the media declares the notion of ‘climate lockdowns’ to be a fake news “conspiracy theory,” India is preparing to impose a climate lockdown to reduce pollution.

Yes, really.

NPR reports the details of the lockdown under the headline ‘New Delhi’s air pollution is so bad, officials are calling for a citywide lockdown’.

“India’s Supreme Court is calling for a lockdown in the capital, New Delhi. It’s because of a health emergency, but it’s not about COVID-19. It’s about air pollution,” states the piece.

Authorities are set to ban all nonessential travel on roads in the national capital region while ordering tens of millions of people to work from home.

Construction sites are also closing along with schools, many of which only recently opened after the COVID-19 lockdown. …

Callum Hood, from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, … says conspiracy theorists are pushing the false idea of climate lockdowns as a means of “justifying their conspiracy theories about the COVID pandemic.”

“As many COVID restrictions are lifted, some of these groups are instead claiming that ‘climate lockdowns’ will be used to achieve the same goals,” said Hood.

The truth is that, yes, lockdowns have tended to reduce air pollution (land pollution from masks and other items is another issue). That is a known fact, not a conspiracy theory.

Now, as it turns out, the God of the Bible had a regular way to reduce pollution caused by human industry–He called it the Sabbath:

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. (Exodus 20:7-11)

21 Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest. (Exodus 34:21)

Furthermore, industrial fires were prohibited on the Sabbath (cf. Exodus 35:3).

This type of cycle of rest, if observed worldwide, would greatly reduce air pollution.

That being said, the idea of shutting down industry one day per week has some support among some labor groups and European leaders.

Someone recently asked me if the climate change/industry pollution agenda could be used to enforce Sunday closures around the world and if there could be any ‘mark of the beast’ ramifications.

My response was yes (consistent with my article The Mark of Antichrist).

It may well be that part of the justification of some type of a more restrictive Sunday law (there are already Sunday law restrictions in many communities and nations in Europe) will be that it will help reduce pollution.

While the religious of the Greco-Roman faiths would tend to support more restrictive Sunday closures, the irreligious as well as some of the religious may also support such restrictions in the interest of ‘climate change.’

That being said, it is disturbing how often places that consider themselves to be trustworthy news sites push agendas and improperly refer to certain logical views as “conspiracy theories.”

It is not that there are not many false conspiracy theories (there are, cf. Isaiah 8:12), but such name calling has been another form of censorship.
