In a speech given to supporters in the western Turkish city of Sakarya, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invoked the medieval religious wars between Christian Europe and the Islamic Middle East in the context of present-day escalating tensions between the European Union and Turkey.
“My dear brothers, a battle has started between the cross and the half moon. There can be no other explanation,” Erdogan said on Thursday.
The Turkish president also stated the European Court of Justice’s (ECJ) Tuesday ruling, which permits companies to ban the Islamic headscarf as part of policies barring religious symbols in the workplace, was the start of a “crusade” by Europe. http://www.dw.com/en/erdogan-accuses-eu-of-crusade-against-islam/a-37979126

Erdogan also accused the Netherlands of state terrorism and having a “rotten” character earlier this week, claiming the Dutch were responsible for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre during the Bosnian War. “We know how rotten their character is from their massacre of 8,000 Bosnians there. Nobody should try to give us lessons on morality, especially not those who have blood on their hands,” he said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused Europe of staring a “clash” between Christianity and Islam with a ruling allowing employers to ban headscarves as part of wider restrictions on religious and political symbols. …
Speaking hours after his foreign minister warned that “holy wars will soon begin”, the Turkish President on March 16 launched a fresh attack as part of an ongoing row over the cancellation of his supporters’ rallies in different European countries.
Erdogan’s strong words come as enmity between North Atlantic Treaty Organization member Turkey and different EU nations has ratcheted up in the past week.
Using terminology alluding to the period of the Crusades, he said the European Court of Justice ruling that upheld the dismissal of two Muslim women who refused to remove their hijabs started a “clash between crescent and cross.”
“Shame on the EU. I reported about that headscarf ruling on Tuesday (it is cited in the article: Germany to force social media companies to report to ‘Big Brother’).
The idea of bringing up the term “crusade” by President Erdogan will inflame Muslims, including some radical ones who will likely point to that statement as proof that their ‘jihad’ (Islamic ‘holy war’) quest is justified.
But apparently President Erdogan was not the only one trying to fan the flames of jihad. Notice also the following (bolding below mine):
Turkey has been locked in a deepening row with the Netherlands after the Dutch barred Turkish ministers from holding rallies among overseas Turks.
“Many parties have received a similar share of votes. Seventeen percent, 20 percent, there are lots of parties like this, but they are all the same,” Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a rally in the southern city of Antalya.
“There is no difference between the mindsets of Geert Wilders and social democrats in the Netherlands. They all have the same mindset … That mindset is taking Europe to the cliff. Soon wars of religion may and will start in Europe.”
Turkey on Monday suspended high-level relations with the Netherlands after the Dutch cited public safety in banning its ministers from addressing expatriate Turks. Their votes are being sought in a campaign for a referendum that would give President Tayyip Erdogan sweeping new powers.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s statement, “Soon wars of religion may and will start in Europe,” should show all that the roots of armed conflict between Europe and Islam are still strong.
As far as the Muslims in Europe go, notice some items I posted about this back in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2017:
The reality is that the Muslims will force Europe to wake-up and re-establish themselves. Historically, when Europe has been strongly opposed to Islam it has had greater ties to the Vatican.

The reality is that the Muslims will be a major factor to get Europe to wake-up and re-establish itself. Historically, when Europe has been strongly opposed to Islam it has had greater ties to the Vatican.

A divide between Islam and the nominally-Christian Europe is going to become more and more real. Though there will be apparent cooperation (cf. Psalm 83; Daniel 11:27), the two will turn against each other (Daniel 11:40-43). (Thiel B. France Begins Burqa Ban. COGwriter, April 11, 2011)
Yet, there are changes happening in Europe. And according to the Bible, more economic (Revelation 13: 14-17) and political ones must come to pass (Revelation 17:12-13). A currency change from the Euro is a possible, but not biblically-required, change.
As far as the anti-Islamists go, the Bible shows that a European military leader will line up with a religious leader from the city of seven hills (Revelation 17) and ultimately defeat the forces of Islam (Daniel 11:40-43), despite having earlier made one of more deals with the Islamists (cf. Psalm 83:3-8; Daniel 9:27; Daniel 11:27).
Irrespective of one or more temporary political deals with those of the Islamic faith, the anti-Islamic sentiment that Geert Wilders and others have tapped into in Europe is real. And according to the Bible, it will be resolved in ways differently than Geert Wilders and others like him publicly state (Daniel 11:40-42). (Thiel B. Political Turmoil in the Netherlands. Will the refugee problem break apart Europe?
Well, it is likely to be a factor that will result in the UK splitting from the continental Europeans.
But what about the continental Europeans, will they split up or unite closer?
Well, although the Bible states that they will have unification problems (Daniel 2:41-43), it also shows that they will reorganize and put in a dictator, the Beast of Revelation (Revelation 17:12-13; see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?). A Europe will arise with a powerful militaristic leader (Revelation 13:4; see also Europa, the Beast, and Revelation) who will enter with peaceful sounding words (Daniel 8:25; 9:27; 11:21-24; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27), yet he will be the prophesied King of the North. …
Although there is a pontiff who currently is endorsing the acceptance of these migrants into Europe (see Pope Francis tells tens of thousands of European Catholic facilities to accept one migrant family per church/monastery), expect changes to come.
Islamic migrants into Europe will cause problems, but ultimately will result in a dictator rising up in Europe.
Not only will that not end up well for Islam (Daniel 11:40-43; see also Is the Future King of the South Rising Up?), it will also not end up well for the UK or the USA (Daniel 11:39; see also the article Anglo – America in Prophecy). Angela Merkel’s comments will likely result in Muslims now starting to plan how to fight and stay in Europe. There will be conflict between the Europeans and the Arabs (watch also the video sermonette War is Coming Between Europeans and Arabs). …
It should also be understood that while the Bible indicates that Europeans will defeat the Muslim peoples in the Middle East and North Africa per Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 30:2-8, the Bible also shows that the Islamic nations there will make deals with the Europeans (Daniel 11:27; Psalm 83)–these deals will NOT turn out well for the USA in the long run (cf. Daniel 11:39), nor ultimately many of the Arabic nations.
As I have been saying for a long time, Islamic migrant issues will be one of the triggers to get Europe to ultimately reorganize as the Bible teaches it will in Revelation 17:12-13, Daniel 11:21-38, Daniel 2:41-43, and other passages.
The Bible tells of a confederation involving nations in the Middle East and North Africa in the end times in Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 30:2-8 that is defeated by the Europeans. Civil unrest and likely civil war will happen, but a temporal peace will also come (Daniel 9:27; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).
Now the actual biblical war prophesied in the Bible between Europe and the Arabs, will not come until more than 3 1/2 years after a ‘peace deal’ has been confirmed by a ‘prince’ (Daniel 9:26-27) who later will become the final King of the North (Daniel 11:31-44). This leader will be European, and eventually destroy the nation with the strongest fortresses (Daniel 11:39), which in the 21st century would be the USA. He will proclaim peace and safety:
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
This leader will encourage proclamations of peace, yet sudden destruction will come (cf. 1 Thessalonians 5:3). He may rise up, partially, to deal with issues related to Islamic immigrants. Once he has power, he will destroy the USA, etc. (Daniel 11:39), and then he will turn against a power in the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43)–a power consisting of a lot of Arabs.
The migrant situation in Germany and elsewhere is setting Europe up for civil unrest. Ultimately, war will come between the Europeans and the Arabs. (Thiel B. Germany’s Merkel says that refugees must go back after the war is over. COGwriter, January 30, 2016)
I believe that the Vatican will promote a temporal deal with Islam and Europe (Daniel 11:27), but that ultimately, Europe will essentially push Islam out (Daniel 11:40-43).
War is Coming Between Europeans and Arabs.

The above items were posted based upon my knowledge and understanding of biblical prophecy.
Lest this all seem to just be coming from me and Turkey, let me add that both Catholic and Islamic prophecy point to war coming between Europe and the Muslims (see also The Arab and Islamic World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).
While we are not there yet, the stage is being set for the coming war between the Europeans and Arabic Muslims.
As far as Turkey goes, despite statements now coming from Turkey, it will ultimately side with the Europeans. In the Bible, Daniel 11:25-26 is quite clear that an ally of the mainly Arabic King of the South will betray the King of the South:
25 “He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army. And the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall devise plans against him. 26 Yes, those who eat of the portion of his delicacies shall destroy him; his army shall be swept away, and many shall fall down slain. (Daniel 11:25-26)
If Daniel 11:25-26 has future fulfillment (and as it seems to parallel Daniel 11:40-43 and Turkey/Edom is spared there by the European King of the North), it would seem that there will be close allies like Turkey that will betray the King of the South according to scripture as well.
However, the words from Turkeys leaders are part of those that will encourage the rise of the final King of the South, who will ultimately be involved in an unsuccessful war against Europe (Daniel 11:40-43).
