EU and Arab leaders: Two-State Solution Only Answer to Palestinian-Israeli Conflict; COGwriter: No, the Kingdom of God is the Solution
(Source: EU-Palestine Twitter header)
Many believe that a two-state solution will solve the issues between Israel and the Palestinians. Here is a report related to meetings between the Europeans and the Arabs:
Israel’s ‘arrogant logic’ failed in face of Palestinian people’s determination: Tunisia
Realizing goals of Union for the Mediterranean lies in empowering the Palestinian people, says Tunisia’s foreign minister
November 28, 2023
“It is not possible anymore for the world to dismiss the root cause of the conflict, which has always been the (Israeli) occupation,” Ammar said in his speech at the 8th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean in the Spanish city of Barcelona. …
Ammar added that empowering the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights are a basic condition for the Union for the Mediterranean to realize its goals.
The Union for the Mediterranean, an intergovernmental organization of 43 member states, was founded 15 years ago in the wake of the Oslo Accords in the spirit of shared peace and prosperity for the Mediterranean region.
Israel, one of the group’s founding members, did not send a representative to Monday’s meeting. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/middle-east/israels-arrogant-logic-failed-in-face-of-palestinian-people-s-determination-tunisia/3066519
World Leaders: Two-State Solution Only Answer to Palestinian-Israeli Conflict
A two-state solution would be the answer to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, officials of Arab states and the European Union agreed at a meeting in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday.
They said the Palestinian Authority, rather than Hamas, should rule Gaza.
European Union foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said during the meeting in Barcelona that all EU members and almost everyone else attending agreed on the need for a two-state solution.
The Palestinian Authority must hold elections and improve its governance, but it is the only “viable solution” to the future leadership of Gaza to avoid a “power vacuum,” Borrell said.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the Palestinian people should decide who rules them and that any talk of administration of Gaza after the conflict should focus on the West Bank and Gaza as one entity.
A two-state solution envisages a state for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip alongside Israel.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said the Palestinian Authority, which lost control of the Gaza Strip in a 2007 power struggle with Hamas, had no need to return to Gaza, adding, “We have been there all the time. We have 60,000 public workers there.”
The three officials spoke at the conclusion of a meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean, a 43-member grouping of European, North African and Middle Eastern countries.
Israel did not attend the summit. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke as a representative of a group of ministers from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. 11/27/23 https://www.voanews.com/a/world-leaders-two-state-solution-only-answer-to-palestinian-israeli-conflict/7372440.html
The above shows that the EU intends to be part of some type of a peace deal in the Middle East and is using its membership in the Union for the Mediterranean as a tool to do so.
Few know much about the the Union for the Mediterranean States. Back in 2009, I posted:
I strongly suspect that this Union for the Mediterranean States could be the framework for making the prophesied deals between the prophesied final King of the North and King of the South (Daniel 9:27, Psalm 83) (Thiel B. EU Parliament to Host Seminar for the Union for the Mediterranean States Tomorrow. COGwriter, November 18, 2009)
Here is what Wikipedia has about the members of the Union for the Mediterranean:
The members of the Union of the Mediterranean are the following:
- From the European Union side:
- The 27 European Union member states (those on the Mediterranean in bold): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
- The European Commission.
- From the side of the Mediterranean Partner countries:
- 15 member states: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Palestine, Syria (suspended 2011),[1][2][3] Tunisia and Turkey.
Additionally, Libya is an observer state. (Union for the Mediterranean. Wikipedia, accessed 11/28/23)
Yes, there are many European and Arabic nations in this Union for the Mediterranean.
According to the Bible, you can expect European and Arab involvement in various deals, including one that will result in temporary “peace” in the Middle East.
Here are prophesies related to deals between the Europeans and the peoples of North Africa and the Middle East:
26 … And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate. (Daniel 9:26-27)
27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time (Daniel 11:27).
3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”5 For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
7 Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot (Psalm 83:3-8).
Daniel 9 refers to a European power–as that was the power that destroyed Jerusalem and its temple in 70 A.D. While Daniel 9:26 calls the leader who confirms the deal a “prince,” he is later is referred to as the king of a developing European empire (Daniel 11:40; see also King of the North and Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation). This deal is believed to be some type of a “peace deal.”
The ‘one week’ time element in Daniel 9:27 has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal (2520 days, based on prophetic 360 day years), that will be broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). The Hebrew word translated as “week” literally means “sevened” (OT:7620 literal, sevened. Biblesoft’s New Exhaustive Strong’s Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.).
The “with many” referred to in Daniel 9:27 would seem to indicate that ‘many’ nations, as opposed to one or two, are agreeing to something. Nations such as Jordan and Egypt are likely to be involved as they both have signed peace agreements with Israel in the past. The deal could involve agreement with most, if not all, the nations in the Union for the Mediterranean.
Daniel 11:27 is a reference to lying deals to be made by the coming European King of the North and the coming Arabic King of the South.
Psalm 83 involves a deal that likely will include terrorism (more on that can be found in the article: Why Terrorism? Is Terrorism Prophesied?).
The Union for the Mediterranean is a vehicle that may well be used to make the deals that Daniel 9:27 and Daniel 11:27 tell of, as well as the deal of Psalm 83.
That said, the two-state solution is not a solution that will bring real peace.
Consider the following prophecy from Jesus:
20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. (Luke 21:20-22)
So, if armies are going to have to be involved, that is not real peace.
While the USA is likely to be involved in the peace deal, years ago the Palestinians rejected US President Donald Trump’s ‘deal of the century’ as worthless (see Palestinians consider Donald Trump’s peace ‘deal of the century’ worthless).
Now, why is Daniel 9:27 believed to be a type of ‘peace deal’?
Consider other scriptures in Daniel that discuss the leader who will confirm the deal:
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
We see that this leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. The word translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties. But as the prophesied one has not been confirmed, at least not publicly, the Great Tribulation would seem to be at least 3 1/2 years away. Verse 24 of the 8th chapter of Daniel also shows that this leader will somehow also be accumulating wealth. Perhaps to back up a European supported currency, he may end up with personal and/or national gold reserves and/or wealth from the Vatican. The Vatican has a vast amount of wealth and is prophesied to be improperly involved with the kings of the earth in the end times per Revelation 17. A pope will probably endorse/encourage the deal (cf. Revelation 13:11-17). This ‘prince’ of Daniel 9:27 is not representing Russia as Russia is NOT the King of the North of biblical prophecy.
Although Jesus said that the ‘peacemakers’ are blessed (Matthew 5:9), He also warned about those who act like sheep/lambs that are truly dangerous:
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. (Revelation 13:11)
People will be misled about the deal and will tend to believe it is good (1 Thessalonians 5:3; cf. Ezekiel 13:10-14). USA political leaders have long endorsed proposals for peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis that could be modified and perhaps temporarily adopted. Destruction of the USA will happen about three and 1/2 years after the deal is confirmed by the European leader (cf. Daniel 9:27, 11:31-39).
Notice something that the Apostle Paul wrote about:
3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4)
Many will NOT understand, but will be deceived about the temporal peace that will come.
Based upon what the Bible teaches about the seven churches of Revelation 2 & 3, it is my position that the seven-year component of the deal in Daniel 9:27 will not be clear enough to Greco-Roman Catholics, Protestants, nor most who claim to be in the Church of God for them to realize this is the deal. Just like they do not consider certain prophetic matters clear enough (e.g. How To Determine If Someone is a True Prophet of God), the vast majority will not truly understand the prophetic implications when the related deal is made.
Despite current Palestinian and Israeli attitudes, a temporal peace deal will come in that region of the world.
Yet, real lasting peace will not occur until the return of Jesus and the establishment of the true Kingdom of God (Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3, Revelation 21). Until then, the Bible warns of times of temporary (Daniel 9:27) and false declarations of peace (e.g. 1 Thessalonians 5:3; Ezekiel 13:10-14).
Christians need to watch and pray (Luke 21:36) and not be deceived like the world will be (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).
A timed peace deal in the Middle East is something to watch for.

Does the ‘Cenacle’ deal have prophetic ramifications? After a 20 year negotiation, the Church of Rome has negotiated the right to have Catholic mass in the building known as the Cenacle. It is in the area where the Church of God on Jerusalem’s Western Hill once stood. This is believed to be the location of the earliest Christian church building.
