Iranian parliament votes to spend $520 million more on missiles and other military matters

Iran continues to push its military spending:

Iran’s parliament has voted in favour of boosting investment in its missile defence and foreign operations programmes by more than $500m (£386m).

The bill, which received overwhelming approval, is in response to the latest round of US sanctions against Tehran.

Iranian parliament passed a bill Sunday to boost its military spending, with 240 lawmakers in the 244-strong house approving it.

The bill allows Iran to allocate $520 million (448 million euros) to enhance its nuclear program to fight Washington’s “adventurism” and sanctions.

“The Americans should know that this was our first reaction,” said parliament speaker, Ali Larijani. The package was meant to “confront terrorist and adventurist actions by the United States in the region,” he added.

The bill mandates the government to allocate an additional $260 million for the “development of the missile programme” and the same amount to the Revolutionary Guards foreign operations wing, the Quds Force, state news agency IRNA said. …

The Sunday vote came after fresh US sanctions against Iran , targeting its missile program. Among those sanctioned were key backers of Iran’s military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

While this is allegedly because of the latest sanctions from Washington, consider also the following:

IRGC Commander Ja’fari: “We Are On The Path That Leads To The Rule Of Islam Worldwide”

On March 11, 2017, IRGC commander Ali Ja’fari said of the worldwide Islamic regime: “The history of Iran is replete with agreement on the Rule of the Jurisprudent [velayat ] which has [already] crossed Iran’s borders, and the united Islamic nation is being formed… We are on the path that leads to the rule of Islam worldwide.”

On March 15, 2017, Ja’fari added on the same subject: “The Islamic Revolution is aimed at creating an infrastructure of the religion of God on earth, and it will wait for no man on its path advancement. All [Iranian] officials must adapt to the accelerated progress of the Revolution.

“The Islamic Revolution is now in its third stage – that is, [the stage] of assembling the Islamic government, and with God’s help it will pass this stage successfully despite the ups and downs that constantly occur.

“As IRGC commander, and as one of the commanders during the era of the Sacred Defense [i.e. the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war], I believe that today the young people’s yearning to unconditionally defend the Revolution has expanded greatly relative to the era of the Sacred Defense. Their repeated requests to play a role alongside the defenders of the holy places indicate this.

“The religious seminaries and the IRGC bear the joint mission to advance and deepen the Islamic Revolution. This is God’s promise for the salvation of humanity, and we are charged with it. The senior revolutionary clerics and the IRGC will without a doubt actualize God’s promises, while implementing a comprehensive plan of the Islamic Revolution for shaping the picture of the Islamic world.

“Our internal spiritual and material potential for creating [such a global regime], and the robustness of the [Iranian] regime, which constitutes the main nucleus of this plan, are expanding in might. According to the words of [Ayatollah Ruhollah] Khomeini, if the revolution and the regime stop on the path, this will cause damage to Islam.”

On April 30, 2017, at a teachers’ conference, Ja’fari said: “Some [people] have a flawed perception of the Islamic Revolution, for they think that its aim was only to defeat the regime of the Shah and to establish the Islamic regime [in Iran]. [But] if we look at the words of the Imam [Khomeini], we will discover a correspondence between the Islamic Revolution and the spread of the religion of Islam. In order to build the Islamic regime, there is no other path but to advance the Islamic Revolution… As the Imam said: If this Islamic regime is defeated, Islam is defeated.

“The framework of our activity is the Islamic Revolution, and first we must know what its aims are… The external dimension of the Revolution is based on the principle of Islam [as] derived from the lesson of the Ashura. This is in effect the principle of enmity towards evil and enmity towards the arrogance [the West, led by the U.S.]. This is actualized by means of the Islamic awakening against evil, and it is waged in the best possible way thanks to the Leader [Khamenei], who is its standard-bearer.”

Supreme Leader’s Representative In The IRGC Saeedi: “The Islamic Revolution Is The Prelude To Islam Becoming Global”

Similar statements were made on March 15, 2017, by Ali Saeedi, Supreme Leader Khamenei’s representative in the IRGC: “There is no doubt that the Islamic Revolution is a prelude to Islam becoming global. Therefore, the Revolution must be strengthened in the best possible way, in order to create the framework for the revelation of God’s promise.”

Deputy Qods Deputy Force Commander Esmail Qaani: “The Main Aim Is Global Rule”

On March 1, 2017, IRGC Qods Force deputy commander Esmail Qaani said: “Without a doubt, our martyrs and those of the dear ones like you Fatimiyyoun will not settle for less than the global rule of the Imam Mahdi. Our martyrs inaugurated a great path. Iran wants to develop its military capability as it wants to rule the world. Iran also probably figures that the USA does not want to focus on it and North Korea at the same time. That may be why the missile vote was today.

The Iran nuclear deal freed up billions of dollars worth of Iranian assets. When that deal was finalized, I posted the following here:

The lifting of sanctions deal will give Iran access to about 90-150 billion dollars of frozen assets that Iran can use again. Some of those assets will likely be used for its economy and Iran will likely rebuild parts of its military with the intent to use it offensively. (Thiel B. The fact that its parliament voted to spend more on missiles today verifies my view.

That being said, Iran is not in as strong of a position as certain of its leaders and various others seem to think. While Iran does have striking capabilities and those it opposes could be greatly damaged from emp, chemical, biological, nuclear, ballistic, and/or other weapons, it is not strong enough to do so.

Because of the nuclear deal with Iran, many international sanctions were lifted and Iran got access to around 100 billion dollars worth of assets. Assets that it wants to use to rebuild its economy as well as destroy Israel and takeover the world. Iran simply does not have the financial and human assets needed to do all of that (though it may well destroy part of Jerusalem: cf. Isaiah 22:1-14). Yet, even though Iran will not become the leader of the final King of the South (a coalition of Islamic nations in the Middle East and North Africa; cf. Daniel 11:40-43), this will not stop it from possibly striking out at Israel, or even possibly the USA.

Because of how Iran’s leaders think, we may very well see a regional war involving Iran, Syria, and Israel, with perhaps some USA involvement. A war that could see all of them damaged according to Bible prophecy (Isaiah 17:1; 22:1-14; Jeremiah 49:34-38). But also a war that might lead to another ‘deal’–perhaps one day the deal of Daniel 9:27 that will signal the final countdown to the end–the start of the Great Tribulation.

That being said, despite the view of certain Protestant prophecy watchers in the past couple of years, it needs to be pointed out that Iran is not about to be totally aligned with Russia to invade Israel or somehow fulfill Ezekiel 38 (see also Ezekiel 38: For Russia & Iran in Our Day? and/or watch Russia, Iran, Syria, & the Bible (Code)). Ezekiel 38 is NOT fulfilled until well AFTER Jesus returns.

Iran is committed to its military agenda. One that may not end up well for Israel, nor itself (Jeremiah 49:34-38). And the USA could be affected.
