MS: A Biden presidency would “resurrect” hopes for a Palestinian state

Mahmoud Abbas (kremlin.ru)

COGwriter

Palestinians seem pleased that Joe Biden has the most votes in the USA presidential election. Notice also the following:

A presidential decree necessary to call Palestinian elections will not be issued by Mahmoud Abbas any time soon the president has told close associates, with Joe Biden’s victory in the US changing the political equation for Fatah.

Fatah and leftist sources close to the Palestinian presidency told Middle East Eye that Abbas currently prefers to postpone reconciliation steps with Hamas, and to wait for Biden’s approach to the Palestinian cause to become clear. …

Abbas was “very happy” as he was updated with Biden’s progress as votes were counted in the United States last week. Abbas’ relationship with Trump was the worst of any president in the White House since he assumed leadership of the PA in 2005.

In May, Abbas decided to dissolve all agreements with Israel and the United States in response to the former’s plan to annex parts of the West Bank, though the relationship had begun to deteriorate previously following Trump’s 2017 decision to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

A Palestinian source also familiar with developments confirmed to MEE that Abbas “will not take any new steps with Hamas, lest they affect the return of the relationship with the new American administration”. 11/12/20 https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/palestine-biden-victory-hamas-pa-unity-doom

As far as Hamas goes, despite the above, it is also somewhat hopeful for a Biden-Harris Administration as it does not like Donald Trump’s ‘peace plan’ for the region (see Hamas leader calls on Biden to abandon Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century’).

Michael Snyder (MS) posted the following:

A Biden presidency would “resurrect” hopes for a Palestinian state

For the past four years, the Palestinians have been deeply frustrated with the White House. The U.S. embassy in Israel was moved to Jerusalem, the Palestinian mission in Washington D.C. was shut down, and financial aid to the Palestinians was reduced. Last January, President Trump introduced his plan for a two-state solution, but it was immediately rejected by the Palestinians. Everyone knows that the Palestinians absolutely hate Trump and they were never going to agree to any deal that involved him. So that meant that as long as Trump was in the White House, it was extremely unlikely that we would see a Palestinian state.

But now, it appears that everything could change. When Joe Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election by the U.S. media, Palestinians greatly rejoiced. They are absolutely thrilled that Trump could soon be gone, and they are desperately hoping that U.S. foreign policy under a Biden administration will look very much like it did during the eight years of the Obama administration.

Of course Barack Obama was a tireless promoter of a two-state solution based on the 1967 lines, and many in the Middle East are anticipating that there could be a major push to finally make that a reality during a Biden presidency. …

The Trump administration had also been pushing a two-state solution, but the map that Trump administration officials were envisioning was vastly different from the one that the Palestinians have been envisioning. … But with Trump out of the way, the Palestinians will be very excited to get back to the negotiating table, and that is because Joe Biden and the Democrats seem quite eager to give the Palestinians what they want.

The 2020 Democratic Party Platform states that the creation of a “viable” Palestinian state is the official position of the Democratic Party

The 2020 Democratic Party Platform, which calls for the creation of a “viable” Palestinian state, in which Palestinians “should be free to govern themselves,” and explicitly opposes “unilateral action” from either side, is one place to start. Democratic strategist Joel Rubin, who served as Jewish Outreach Director for the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign, wrote in Israel’s Haaretz newspaper that it was “the most realistic and most progressive of its kind.”

And Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that he wants to see a two-state solution based on the 1967 lines… Perhaps even more importantly, Kamala Harris is a big proponent of a Palestinian state. 11/11/20 http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/a-biden-presidency-would-resurrect-hopes-for-a-palestinian-state

Will the Palestinians end up with territories now dominated by Israel?

Yes.

Will there be some type of international peace deal coming?

Yes.

Daniel 9:26-27 states:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

The ‘one week’ time element has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal (2520 days, based on prophetic 360 day years), that will be broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). The Hebrew word translated as “week” literally means “sevened” (OT:7620 literal, sevened. Biblesoft’s New Exhaustive Strong’s Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.).

The ‘with many’ referred to in this passage would seem to indicate that ‘many’ nations, as opposed to one or two, are agreeing to something.

While Daniel 9:26 calls this leader a “prince,” he is later referred to as the king of a developing European empire (Daniel 11:40; see also King of the North and Europa, the Beast, and the Book of Revelation). Daniel 9:26-27 tie directly in with Daniel 11:

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31).

Why is Daniel 9:27 believed to be a type of ‘peace deal’?

There are several reasons. Notice some other scriptures that discuss this leader:

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).

23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)

So this leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term is translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties.

However, war often precedes peace. Hence, we may see major conflict in the Middle East before the peace deal of Daniel 9:27 is put in place.

But such a deal will happen–whether the USA is part of it or not.

The Bible tells of European involvement. That does not mean that the USA cannot be involved (it very well may be), but it is not biblically-required to be involved.

As far as the Palestinians gaining territories (and this includes territories NOT in Donald Trump’s plan), consider the following biblical prophecy of calamity coming to Gaza and other lands:

17 Then I took the cup from the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom the Lord had sent me: 18 Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes, and all his people; 20 all the mixed multitude, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod); 21 Edom, Moab, and the people of Ammon; 22 all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are across the sea; 23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who are in the farthest corners; 24 all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed multitude who dwell in the desert; 25 all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; 26 all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world which are on the face of the earth. Also the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

27 “Therefore you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Drink, be drunk, and vomit! Fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.”‘ 28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “You shall certainly drink! 29 For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth,” says the Lord of hosts.’ (Jeremiah 25:17-29)

Many of the lands above are listed as supporters of the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43) and/or part of a confederation that will be destroyed that will involve Egypt (Ezekiel 30:3-8). Some of those lands, Ashkelon (located 50 kilometres south of Tel Aviv, and 13 kilometres north of the border with the Gaza Strip), Ekron (modern Tel Miqne, which is 35 kilometers west of Jerusalem), and Ashdod (located 32 kilometres south of Tel Aviv, 20 km north of Ashkelon, and 53 km west of Jerusalem), are currently dominated by the nation of Israel.

Ashkelon, Tel Migne, and Ashdod are claimed to be part of Israel. They are not in the Gaza Strip that Hamas dominates (they are all north of it) nor part of the other Palestinian controlled region known as the West Bank. Therefore, it looks like the Palestinians will either control those cities again or be so numerous in it that they are the ones affected in Jeremiah 25. It is my current view that the Palestinians will gain land that the nation of Israel thinks it will continue to control.

Jeremiah 25 looks to be showing us that the current nation of Israel will lose lands to the Palestinians–and this would seem to be well after the ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:27 is confirmed (and it is not currently expected that most of those lands would be ceded to the Palestinians in the Daniel 9:27 deal).

The current world order is changing and will change further–the final time of the Gentiles is coming (Luke 21:24; Revelation 11:1-2; see also The Times of the Gentiles).

Bible prophecy is reliable, hence those prophesies will be fulfilled irrespective of who is President of the United States.
