Pope Francis Tells Asians to Turn to Mary
Pope Francis in South Korea
Pope Francis is in South Korea as part of his ecumenical and interfaith agenda. Here is some of what he said today:
August 17, 2014
Dear young people of Asia, it is my hope that, in union with Christ and the Church, you will take up this path, which will surely bring you much joy. Now, as we approach the table of the Eucharist, let us turn to our Mother Mary, who brought Jesus to the world. …
Young people, Wake Up! http://www.zenit.org/en/articles/pope-s-homily-at-concluding-mass-for-6th-asian-youth-day
I also urge young people, as well as others, to wake up! Christians are not to turn to Mary.
No verse in the Bible says to pray to, turn to, or call upon, the name of Mary, or have her watch over anyone.
The Douay-Rheims Bible (DRB), a Roman Catholic Bible, in both the Old and New Testament teaches to turn to God:
13 And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil. (Joel 2:13, DRB)
I preach, that they should…turn to God (Acts 26:20, DRB)
It never says to turn to Mary.
Also the only two times the DRB uses the term intercession it is referring to Jesus, not Mary:
34 Who is he that shall condemn? Christ Jesus that died, yea that is risen also again; who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (Romans 8:34, DRB)
25 Whereby he is able also to save for ever them that come to God by him; always living to make intercession for us. (Hebrews 7:25, DRB)
Mary is not the intercessor of the Bible, nor was she considered to be by the early Christian church (see also Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the Apparitions). Considering that Mary provides intercession is not biblically-proper and has other negative consequences.
We are not to call on, or turn to, Mary, but on the Lord God Jesus:
22 But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity, and peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22, DRB)
Notice who is the Lord of peace according to the Apostle Paul:
16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you everlasting peace in every place. The Lord be with you all. 17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand; which is the sign in every epistle. So I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (2 Thessalonians 3:16-18)
Pope Francis may look like a lamb to some, but he truly speaks like a dragon (cf. Revelation 13:11). In my book Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions, I warned that ‘Mary’ would be used as a tool to attempt to reach Asians, and this has been happening under Pope Francis. Some of the Asians already worship something that appears to be an Asian version of the type of ‘Mary’ that Pope Francis endorses.
Here is something about that from my book:
The Taoists revere the goddess, Tian Hou, who is called the “Queen of Heaven”(she is also known as the “Mother goddess”).
Here are a few comments on Mary and certain Buddhist faiths from Ella Rozett, who wrote that she “attends Catholic church almost every day:
Mother Mary is largely unknown in the Buddhist world, the only exception perhaps being Maria Kannon. The latter is a hybrid of Mother Mary and the Bodhisattva of love and compassion whom the Japanese call Kannon, the Chinese Kuan Yin, the Tibetans Chenresig and the Indians Avalokiteshvara…
Much like the Virgin Mary, the Chinese Kuan Yin is said to have lived a human life of extreme self-sacrifice and holiness before she ascended into heaven and became a celestial Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Since her ascension she has been appearing as “a woman in white” to those in need of help…
Some trace the striking similarities between Mary and especially the White Clad Kuan Yin back to the historical influence of Christians coming to China in the early 600’s… At the time the Chinese were longing for the divine feminine, and Chinese Buddhism needed someone who could compete with the powerful Taoist goddesses.
So, the idea of female apparitions appearing exists in at least one Eastern faith. Some believe that Kuan Yin was a male now with the outward appearance of a female (perhaps Satan may appear like “her,” in Revelation 13:4) and that her visits may be related to visitors in China in the 600s.
Kuan Yin is also known as the “Goddess of Mercy” and is sometimes called Guan Yin.610 A few of the pictures I have seen of her show her riding a serpentine beast in the water, which brings up a tie to Revelation 17:1-3. Various paintings and statues I have seen of Kuan Yin remind me of Marion ones, including the frequent use of a type of halo and a crown, the style of dress, as well as sometimes being shown as a Madonna with child. Hence, this may be a reason that the Chinese might be inclined to pay attention to a future “Marian” apparition. Centuries-old Chinese prophecies suggest that the Chinese may end up paying attention to Western religious leaders in the end time.
Furthermore in Asia, “Many see no contradiction in praying to Guan Yin…one day… and on another, praying to the Virgin Mary at the Novena Roman Catholic Church.”
Thus it appears that despite not quite having the Catholic devotion to Mary or Islamic veneration to Fatima, those in various Eastern faiths can be intrigued by the feminine, and may be highly impacted by public alleged Marian apparition(s) in the future. But, no Buddhist, Taoist, Muslim, Hindu, Protestant, Mormon, Catholic, or anyone else should. (Thiel B. Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions. Nazarene Boos, 2009, pp.189-190)
While in Asia, Pope Francis told his bishops to be more sensitive to local cultures and urged places like China to be on better terms with the Vatican:
August 17, 2014
Pope Francis has urged bishops from around Asia to listen to people of different cultures but still remain true to their own Catholic identity.
In a meeting with 60 bishops Sunday at South Korea’s Haemi Martyrdom Holy Ground in North Chungcheong Province, Francis urged countries like China and North Korea to foster a proper dialogue with the Vatican. …
The pope said that the Roman Catholic Church is committed to dialogue with everyone in the spirit of openness to others. …
In his homily Saturday before a crowd of hundreds of thousands at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Gate, Francis again denounced the growing gap between the rich and poor. It was a theme the pope has been repeating since his arrival in South Korea on Thursday.
On Friday, Pope Francis urged nearly 50,000 South Korean youths, to renounce the materialism that afflicts much of Asia and reject what he called “inhuman” economic systems that disenfranchise the poor. …
As his plane flew over Chinese airspace, Pope Francis sent a message to President Xi Jinping offering “divine blessings of peace and well-being upon the nation.” http://www.voanews.com/content/pope-beatifies-korean-martyrs/2415493.html
Notice that Pope Francis again made an economic appeal that the leaders in China would like. Is this a coincidence or part of a strategy?
As far as strategy goes, some may think by proclaiming that they need to be true to their Catholic roots that Pope Francis is really saying not to compromise. That is not the case. Catholic holidays such as Christmas (originally for the pagan god Saturn), Easter (named after the goddess Ishtar), Halloween, (originally honoring the Celt Samain and/or the Aryan God of Death called the Samana), Day of the Dead (originally for the goddess Mictecacihuatl), Valentine’s Day (originally a sexual lottery holiday to honor the god Faunus), and the Assumption of Mary (originally part of a ceremony honoring the goddess Diana) ALL WERE PAGAN HOLIDAYS. The Church of Rome decided to compromise and adopt them to assist the assimilation of local cultures. What Pope Francis is really saying is that the bishops need to better figure out any way to get less governmental and societal objections while still maintaining certain outward appearances of Roman Catholicism. This has been the case throughout the history of the Church of Rome.
The Pope’s agenda is to create strong cooperation and bonds between peoples around the world, so that all we be part of a one-world endorsed religion with the top leader in Rome, with ties to a Marian female figure.
While the Chinese would not seem to be interested in that, the leaders in China want more acceptance on the world scene and will tolerate some of this now.
The Bible reveals that after signs and lying wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12), the bulk of the world will worship to one in Europe (Revelation 13:1-4,8). Steps were taken for that today.
