Israel’s Prime Minister is accusing the United Nations for hypocrisy because of lack of condemnation of rocket attacks from Gaza:

Netanyahu accuses world of hypocrisy for silence regarding rocket fire from Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued his aggressive battle against efforts to delegitimize Israel, broadly hinting during Sunday’s cabinet meeting at the need for a unity government to deal with the situation.

“Against the efforts to harm Israel with threats, false accusations and boycotts, we must stand – right and left – as one, to deflect the pressures, uncover the lies, and attack the attackers,” he said at the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting.

“We will harness forces in this country and around the world, will smash the lies of our enemies, and struggle for the right of Israel to live in peace and security – to live at all,” he said. …

“At a time when we are calling for a renewal of negotiations, the Palestinians are promoting steps against us at the UN and at the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” he said. “They are running away from negotiations, and at the same time promoting international sanctions and resolutions at the UN because there are no negotiations.”

Netanyahu said that the Palestinians “ran away” from talking to former prime ministers Ehud Barak, Ariel Sharon, and Ehud Olmert, “they run away from everyone, and then they blame others.”

“There is no end to this cynicism,” Netanyahu said, “and it saddens me that there are those who are falling into the trap of this organized hypocrisy.”

Netanyahu also accused the world of hypocrisy in its non-existent reaction to the recent rockets fired on Israel from Gaza.

“I didn’t hear any international actor condemn this rocket fire, and even in the UN no one is opening their mouth,” he said. “It is interesting whether this quiet will continue when we act in full force to defend ourselves. Let it be clear, the hypocrisy spreading in the world will not tie our hands when it comes to defending Israeli citizens. The sad reality is that most members of the United Nations do not care that much if Israel exists and find it easier politically to not condemn those who attack Israel.

The situation between Israel and its neighbors remains difficult. Pretty much all of Israel’s neighbors want it to cease to exist, and many Palestinians within the borders of Israel, like those in Gaza, want Israel gone.

Despite all of that, the time will come when there will be a temporary ‘peace deal’ in the general region (see the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27). Neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians will like the deal very much and the reality is that it will not end well for Israel. Lands that Israel currently claims will end up under control by those who are currently in opposition to Israel according to the Bible.

The entire 47th chapter of Jeremiah is a prophecy against the Philistines, including Gaza:

1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza.

2 Thus says the Lord: “Behold, waters rise out of the north, And shall be an overflowing flood; They shall overflow the land and all that is in it, The city and those who dwell within; Then the men shall cry, And all the inhabitants of the land shall wail. 3 At the noise of the stamping hooves of his strong horses, At the rushing of his chariots, At the rumbling of his wheels, The fathers will not look back for their children, Lacking courage, 4 Because of the day that comes to plunder all the Philistines,To cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; For the Lord shall plunder the Philistines, The remnant of the country of Caphtor. 5 Baldness has come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is cut off With the remnant of their valley. How long will you cut yourself? 6 “O you sword of the Lord, How long until you are quiet? Put yourself up into your scabbard, Rest and be still! 7 How can it be quiet, Seeing the Lord has given it a charge Against Ashkelon and against the seashore? There He has appointed it.” (Jeremiah 47:2-7)

Problems were thus prophesied for the Palestianians including those of Gaza–since there is a duality to some prophecies (e.g. Malachi 4:5 & Matthew 17:10-13), this may have future application. It should be noted that Ashkelon is currently part of Israel, and possibly the Palestinians will either control it again or be so numerous in it that they are affected.

Ultimately in this age, Jerusalem will not be the ‘undivided’ capital of Israel (cf. Daniel 11:31) and the nation of Israel will lose territory to the Palestinians.
