World Council of Churches head meets with Palestine’s Abbas and pushes its ‘peace plan’

The World Council of Churches (WCC) continues to mingle in politics:
February 28, 2017
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas formally received the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) the Rev Dr Olav Fykse Tveit for a meeting to discuss just peace in Palestine and Israel. …
The Palestinian president expressed to the WCC General Secretary the importance of the activities of the WCC in the Holy Land in accompanying Christians and local churches. Abbas said he calls upon local and foreign churches to pay attention to the message of Palestinian Christians and to encourage all non violent acts to bring peace and justice to Palestine. …
Tveit said at the meeting “Israel since 1948 has been recognised by the UN as a state, and the WCC has since then done the same, continuing to uphold the decision to recognise two states.
The WCC General Assembly in 1948 has stated that anti-Semitism “is a sin against God.”
The WCC has supported the UN resolutions that claim that there should be an Israeli and Palestinian state and that both should be independent and legitimate.
Tveit concluded: “We ought to insist on the duty to guarantee human rights and the need for peace and decent living conditions for all. This is the moral value of justice and peace that we all need to commit to. Both parties would be blessed by a lasting solution, and it would be an important contribution to world peace.”
Through the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI ), the WCC has since 2002, provided a sense of peaceful security for children on their daily walk to school. Results of a wide-ranging evaluation of EAPPI were presented during 2016, and efforts to strengthen the peacemaking programme will continue through 2017 based on the evaluation’s findings.
Tveit also presented WCC’s plans for 2017, including a special consultation on advocacy strategies for just peace in Israel and Palestine in March in Geneva, prayer initiatives for just peace in June, and the World Week of Peace in Palestine and Israel on 17-24 September.
The World Council of Churches has also asked for a meeting with the President of Israel to discuss just peace in Israel and Palestine.
* The World Council of Churches promotes Christian unity in faith, witness and service for a just and peaceful world. An ecumenical fellowship of churches founded in 1948, by the end of 2012 the WCC had 345 member churches representing more than 500 million Christians from Protestant, Orthodox, Anglican and other traditions in over 110 countries. The WCC works cooperatively with the Roman Catholic Church. http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/node/23792
He was addressing the first 2017 session of the United Nation Human Rights Council in Geneva on Feb. 27.
“We call on countries that have recognized Israel and believe in the two-State solution to defend and support this solution by recognizing the State of Palestine,” said Abass.
That call seemed aimed at U.S. President Donald Trump who said in a Feb. 15 meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “Looking at two-State or one-State, I like the one that both parties like. I’m very happy with the one both parties like. I can live with either one.” …
He also cautioned nations against moving their embassies in Israel to Jerusalem, in what could have been as response to pledges made by Trump his election campaign to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.
Abass said, “Palestine will remain the litmus test for this council … and whether it succeeds or not, will be crucial for the credibility of the human rights system throughout the world.” …
The day before addressing the Human Rights Council Abbas held discussions with the general secretary of the World Council of Churches Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit at the hotel he was staying at in Geneva.
There they discussed a “just peace in Palestine and Israel” said the WCC in a statement. http://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/world-churches-head-meets-palestinian-president-mahmoud-abbas-before-he-speaks-to-un/59277.htm
The World Council of Churches (WCC) has long wanted to get the world to accept its ideas for a ‘peace plan’ (watch World Council of Churches Peace Plan).
Of course, it takes at least two sides for a peace agreement, yet the WCC has intentionally chosen a direction different than the one that Israel wants. Plus, one that is more restrictive on Israel than US President Donald Trump has stated was acceptable. That is probably also part of why Palestine’s Abbas objected to Donald Trump’s plan to move the US embassy to Jerusalem.
Will there ever be peace in the Middle East?
Yes.
The Bible tells of a time of temporal peace that will occur in the Middle East prior to the start of the Great Tribulation. Actually, the beginning of the ‘peace deal’ (Daniel 9:27) will signal the start of the countdown to the Great Tribulation and certain moves will later (cf. Daniel 11:31; Matthew 24:15) confirm the nearness of the Great Tribulation.
The WCC wants ecumenical and interfaith unity along with a peace deal.
Sadly, some temporal version of this will come to pass, which supporters will tend to consider to be validation of their scheme.
Here is some biblical information related to the ‘peace deal’:
26 And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).
The above is referring to a deal or covenant that has a time element attached to it.
The ‘one week’ time element has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that will be broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). The ‘with many’ would seem to indicate that ‘many’ nations, as opposed to one or two, are agreeing to something.
Why is this believed to be a type of ‘peace deal’?
There are several reasons, but notice some other scriptures that discuss this leader:
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25, KJV).
23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time. (Daniel 11:23-24, NKJV)
So this leader gives people the impression that there will be “peace” and is involved in some type of deal. This is the same leader that confirms the covenant in Daniel 9:27. The term is translated as “peace” in Daniel 8:25 is from the Hebrew term shalvah and essentially means security. In other words, this leader will destroy “many” who are under the impression that they are secure because of some type of security and/or trade arrangement. Such arrangements are now commonly referred to as peace deals or treaties.
Since the prophesied deal has not been confirmed, at least not publicly, the Great Tribulation would seem to be at least 3 1/2 years away (you may also wish to watch a YouTube video titled Will the Great Tribulation Start in 2017?).
What about WCC’s ecumenical and interfaith goals?
The Bible is clear that a group of churches, led by one from the city of seven hills, is to be avoided and will end in disaster:
1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”
3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. …
18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:1-10)
Many are falling for this, though it will not be quite as the WCC hopes for. The United Nations itself has stated that it supports the idea of trying to pursue peace through ecumenical and inter-faith means with religious leaders, and that it supports the Vatican’s agenda (see United Nations: Humankind’s Last Hope or New World Order?, here is a link to a related video would be United Nations and Vatican Are Planning the New World Order).
The Bible does not teach that Christians will have the type of unity that the WCC, UN, and Vatican claim to want UNTIL AFTER THE FALL OF BABYLON. Notice that in Zechariah (a Catholic translation is shown below), the Bible warns against a coming ‘daughter of Babylon’ and shows that proper unity will not happen until after Jesus returns:
10 Look out! Look out! Flee from the land of the north — Yahweh declares- for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven — Yahweh declares. 11 Look out! Make your escape, Zion, now living with the daughter of Babylon!
12 For Yahweh Sabaoth says this, since the Glory commissioned me, about the nations who plundered you, ‘Whoever touches you touches the apple of my eye. 13 Now look, I shall wave my hand over them and they will be plundered by those whom they have enslaved.’ Then you will know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me! 14 Sing, rejoice, daughter of Zion, for now I am coming to live among you -Yahweh declares! 15 And on that day many nations will be converted to Yahweh. Yes, they will become his people, and they will live among you. Then you will know that Yahweh Sabaoth has sent me to you! 16 Yahweh will take possession of Judah, his portion in the Holy Land, and again make Jerusalem his choice. (Zechariah 2:12-16, New Jerusalem Bible-NJB)
(NOTE: The NJB verses for Zechariah 2:10-16 are shown as Zechariah 2:6-13 in the NKJV/KJV.)
The Bible tells that the ecumenical/inter-faith movement will also end in destruction (Revelation 18 & 19). This is not something that Catholics or the Eastern Orthodox should want (see also Why Should American Catholics Fear Unity with the Orthodox?). The ecumenical and inter-faith plans that the Vatican, WCC, and the UN are promoting are clearly condemned by the Bible and should not be encouraged.
The Apostle Paul also taught that true unity of faith would not happen until after Jesus returns:
13 until we all reach unity in faith and knowledge of the Son of God and form the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself. (Ephesians 4:13, NJB)
Those who believe this unity comes prior to Jesus’ return are in error.
The WCC is working on implementing parts of what I have called ‘Satan’s Plan.’
And Satan’s plan will have a certain success for a time. But that will change when Jesus returns and eliminates Satan and the world’s armies that will support him:
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”
19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. 20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. Revelation 19:11-21)
1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while. (Revelation 20:1-3)
The WCC and the United Nations are actually working to set up alliances that will one day fight against Jesus. But they do not see it as they seem to have much more of a political agenda than a Bible believing agenda.
The WCC also has its own peace plan (watch World Council of Churches Peace Plan) consistent with that of the Pope and the United Nations (watch UN’s ‘New Universal Agenda’ is a False Gospel! and United Nations and Vatican Are Planning the New World Order and Will the Interfaith Movement lead to World War III?).
While these plans will have some temporal success (cf. Daniel 9:27), they will not last, but will bring on destruction.
Only the return of Jesus Christ and the millennial kingdom will bring lasting peace.
The WCC discussions with the Muslims will ultimately lead to war–and a war that that those in the Islamic lands of the Middle East and North Africa will lose (cf. Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:2-9).
