Today, the US Secretary of the Treasury called for no negotiations on the debt ceiling as he wants the US debt limit to be raised:

Lew: Raise debt ceiling without negotiations

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew hit the Sunday shows today to reinforce President Obama’s message: No negotiations on the debt ceiling.

Appearing on CNN, Fox, NBC, and ABC, Lew said there should be no strings attached when it comes to paying the nation’s bills, and Congress should not repeat the 2011 standoff over increasing the debt ceiling that now stands at some $16.7 trillion…

The debt limit, which allows the government to borrow money to pay its bills, is expected to fully expire after September.

The politicians of the USA have long treated the debt limit as something other than a ceiling or real limit.  This position is very dangerous, though not unexpected.

My 2009 book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect warned that the USA will continue to greatly increase its debt:

Because the U.S.A. owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening to it now. President Barack Obama has put forth economic policies that will (for at least several years) greatly increase that debt. Yet, increasing national debt like this will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end (Habakkuk 2:3, 6–8).

The USA national debt clock registered $11 trillion in July 2009 when 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect went to press and this prediction about debt going up has sadly been coming to pass. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect also warned:

Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is shifting priorities away from defense spending… This will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the U.S.A. is not.

That too is coming to pass. (BTW, more on this is also included in my 2013 book titled Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States-Second Edition for Second Obama Term.)

How did I know this?

Partially, because the Bible teaches the following:

12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52)

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come,” Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use same the Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently. Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end.

The nation with the greatest debt of all time is the United States of America, and on a per capita basis one of the highest is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It is the the United States and its Anglo-allies that have loaded pledges of debt in these end times that they really do not expect to pay back. In that respect they have recently plundered many nations. And while much is owed to nations such as China, Japan, and the Arab World, the Europeans have trillions of dollars invested in the USA–money they may be disappointed to have devalued. Enough so that they may divide the land among themselves and other creditors.

While your nation probably will not repent (Anglo or otherwise), you can. Do not wait until it is too late. The fact that the debt clock has exceeded $16 trillion (and worse if you include the debt created via “quantitative easing” by the Federal Reserve) should serve as a wake-up call that the end of the USA will be coming (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8; Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).

The Bible warns that the Beast power will takeover those with the strongest military fortresses (Daniel 11:39) and destroy many in their so-called prosperity (Daniel 8:25). These prophecies are referring to the Anglo-descended nations, including the USA.

Treasury Secretary Lew apparently does not know about the prophecies, understand them, and/or believe them.  Raising the debt of the USA is more dangerous than he seems to think.

RIO DE JANEIRO –  Pope Francis drew a reported 3 million flag-waving, rosary-toting faithful to Rio’s Copacabana beach on Saturday for the final evening of World Youth Day, hours after he chastised the Brazilian church for failing to stem the “exodus” of Catholics to evangelical congregations.

Francis headed into the final hours of his first international trip riding a remarkable wave of popularity… Many of those actually paying attention to the vigil had tears in their eyes, moved by Francis’ call for them to build up their church like his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, was called to do…

In the longest and most important speech of his four-month pontificate, Francis took a direct swipe at the “intellectual” message of the church that so characterized the pontificate of his predecessor, Benedict XVI. Speaking to Brazil’s bishops, he said ordinary Catholics simply don’t understand such lofty ideas and need to hear the simpler message of love, forgiveness and mercy that is at the core of the Catholic faith.

“At times we lose people because they don’t understand what we are saying, because we have forgotten the language of simplicity and import an intellectualism foreign to our people,” he said…He carried that message to a meeting with Brazil’s political, economic and intellectual elite, urging them to look out for the poorest and use their leadership positions to work for the common good. A reported three million pilgrims have packed Brazil’s Copacabana Beach to hear Pope Francis address their all-night vigil as his first international trip ending atop a remarkable wave of popularity.

Overnight pilgrims camped out on the famous stretch of beach ahead of a Mass to be celebrated there later on Sunday.

Such is the appeal of the new pope that some commenters noted that the new head of the Catholic church had ‘rock star’ appeal – drawing more people to see him than the Rolling Stones did on their visit to the beach in 2006. RIO DE JANEIRO—Pope Francis’s killer pace is wearing out his aides.

Obesity in a serious problem in New Zealand and it seems to have come up with at least one unusual ‘solution’:

Nearly 30% of adults are overweight in New ZealandAuthorities in New Zealand have told a South African chef he is too fat to be allowed to live in the country.

Immigration officials said Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 130kg (286 pounds), did not have “an acceptable standard of health”.

He now faces expulsion despite shedding 30kg since he moved to the city of Christchurch six years ago.

New Zealand has one of the highest obesity rates in the developed world, with nearly 30% of people overweight…

Until now, their annual work visas had been renewed with “very little problem”, his wife said.

“We applied year after year and there were no issues,” she said.

“They never mentioned Albert’s weight or his health once and he was a lot heavier then.”

But in early May, the couple was told their work visas had been declined because of Mr Buitenhuis’s weight.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-23475583

So the government of New Zealand has decided to deport an obese South African despite his weight loss and despite the problem that New Zealanders have with their own weights.   While obesity is a multi-factorial problem, sending the South African away without warning, and especially after he lost so much weight is an odd, and basically inappropriate and hypocritical, step.

The Bible warns about overeating:

18 “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, 19 then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. 20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21 Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

20 Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty (Proverbs 23:20-21)

Jesus, Himself, often condemned hypocrisy:

18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?”  (Matthew 22:18-19)

6 He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:  ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.” (Mark 7:6)

44 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them.”

45 Then one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, “Teacher, by saying these things You reproach us also.”

46 And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.” (Luke 11:44-46)

The KJV translation of the Bible warns that an hypocritical nation faced destruction:

5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.  (Isaiah 10:5-7, KJV)

While I do believe that the obese need to work to overcome that problem, it seems hypocritical for New Zealand to punish an immigrant who lost so much weight, while the nation itself has so many people that are obese.

Egypt’s interim government announced has taken violent action that has killed and injured those who backed it elected President Morsi:

CAIRO – At least 75 people were killed and more than 1,000 others injured Saturday in clashes between the supporters of deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi and police on the road of Cairo Airport, hospital sources said.

The clashes took place on the road to Cairo airport, were “75 dead and 1,000 injured,” said the hospital run by the Muslim Brotherhood, quoted by Egyptian news agency MENA.

According to Hisham Ibrahim, director of the field hospital, located at Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque in the suburb of Nasr City, northeastern Cairo, “the majority of the dead were hit by bullets in the head and the chest”.  http://www.aps.dz/At-least-75-killed-1-000-injured.html

The Strong Egypt Party has denounced the deaths resulting from clashes that broke out between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy and security forces in east Cairo on Saturday morning.

The party called for the removal of the cabinet as “it is incapable of protecting citizens.”

In a statement, the party added, “It seems that the security bodies wanted to kill people rather than combat terrorism.”

The statement refers to a call Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made to Egyptians to rally on Friday to grant him the authorisation to face terrorism, a call that was heeded by millions of Egyptians.

In its statement, the party added,”What has happened and is still happening is a massacre of Rabaa al-Adaweya protesters. Those who promised to protect the people, starting with the president all the way to the defense and interior ministers and the prime minister, as well as those who welcomed the Defense Minister’s call to rally, are all accountable for the more than 120 people who were killed and the 4,500 others injured.”

Egyptian officials and medical workers say dozens of people have been killed in clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, but Morsi supporters say the death toll is much higher.

The unrest occurred at several locations in Egypt on Saturday, including the Rabia el-Adawiya Mosque near Cairo, where Morsi supporters had gathered on Friday. Egyptian authorities say people inside of the mosque fired shots into the surrounding neighborhood, on Saturday, while the al-Jazeera news channel reported gunmen have been shooting into the mosque…

At a Saturday news conference, Egypt’s Interior Minister, Mohamed Ibrahim, said the interim government hopes to dismantle the protest camp using “legal means.” He also said Morsi would most likely be taken to the Torah prison near Cairo, where former president Hosni Mubarak and members of his cabinet were detained following the country’s 2011 uprising.

The demonstrations got under way as an Egyptian judge ordered the continued detention of ousted President Mohamed Morsi on conspiracy charges…

World leaders are expressing increasing concern about the rising violence, the polarization of Egyptian society, and the army’s crackdown on Brotherhood leaders.

The Egyptian military dominated Egyptian politics for decades, until the overthrow of Mubarak, himself an ex-military commander. It has a long history of animosity toward the Muslim Brotherhood, which is Egypt’s most organized political party.  http://www.voanews.com/content/death-toll-rises-in-egypt-protests/1711153.html

Note: There are a lot of conflicting reports on the actual number killed and wounded.  But the reality is that many were killed and many more wounded.

The situation in Egypt will change. Of course, the supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose candidate was actually elected as the President of Egypt considers the interim government installed by the military by the point of guns is illegitimate and illegal. But many, in and out of Egypt, want to overlook that the interim government is in because of a military-backed coup.

As I mentioned in some earlier posts, there is no doubt that what occurred in Egypt was a coup supported by the military.  Again, notice the definition of a coup d’état from Wikipedia:

A coup d’état (/ˌkuːdeɪˈtɑː/; plural: coups d’état), also known as a coup, a putsch, or an overthrow, is the sudden deposition of a government, usually by a small group of the existing state establishment—typically the military—to depose the extant government and replace it with another body, civil or military. A coup d’état is considered successful when the usurpers establish their dominance. When the coup neither fails completely nor succeeds, a civil war is a likely consequence. (viewed 07/08/13)

What happened in Egypt was a military coup blamed on a certain amount of popular discontent.

Those who thought that the mobocracy coup earlier this month ended the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood or other Islamist parties in Egypt and elsewhere were in error.

Yet, the USA went so far as to declare that the coup was not a coup:

The White House has said that the overthrow of the former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was not a coup and it will continue to provide Egypt with economic and military aid…

The USA seems to no longer believe that it is tied to sticking with all the principles in its own Constitution, own principles, or its own laws (see also The Bill of Rights and Declaration on the 4th of July 2013).  This is another example.

While this USA decision to not call a coup a coup may be pragmatic, the reality is that the Muslim Brotherhood is a group that wants a pan-Islamic empire, similar to one prophesied in the Bible. No matter what the USA says or does this will happen. The current non-Islamist government will ultimately disappoint even more of the Egyptians, who will look for a type of Islamic strongman to lead them.

According to the Bible, an apparently Islamic Empire will form in some type of confederation to include at least most of North Africa and the Middle East. Egypt will be a major part of this:

40 At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:40-42).

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“‘Wail and say, “Alas for that day!” 3 For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near- a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations. 4 A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.

5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

6 “‘This is what the LORD says:

“‘The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign LORD. 7 “‘They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities. 8 Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.

9 “‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come (Ezekiel 30:1-9, NIV).

Egyptian involvement with the final King of the South is specifically prophesied. The rule by those with the same goals of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is not going to be over for long.

We are likely to see more change, unrest, and protests before the final King of the South rises up. But, according to biblical prophecy, that power will rise up and Egypt will be part of it. The newly appointed cabinet in Egypt will not last.

I do believe that China will hesitate to protect Iran if it thought this would trigger a third world war (WWIII).  China simply is not yet strong enough for that, and most of the top political leaders there are wiser than to go that distance.  Like the Russian General Makarov said there certainly could be regional armed conflicts that involve nuclear weapons.  Yet, Russia, too, would not currently risk WWIII.

Tahrir Square was packed with crowds responding to Defense Minister Gen. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s call for a mandate to support the military fight on “terrorists.” Another huge crowd of Morsi supporters packed the streets around the Rabaa al-Adawiya mosque in Nasser City.

Instead of directing their ire at the overthrown Muslim Brotherhood, the pro-military demonstrators shouted “Bye Bye America!” as huge placards waved over their heads depicting as a threesome Gen. El-Sisi, Vladimir Putin and Gemal Abdel Nasser, who ruled Egypt in the 60s in close alliance with the Soviet Union.

The situation in the Middle East is volatile and will ultimately change.  Egypt will end up supporting a type of dictator and Syria will support the same one.  And it very well may take a major regional conflict for all of this to happen.

China itself is becoming a military distraction for the USA (USA dropped inert bombs in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef; Preparing for a war with China?) and others.  While its theoretical threat appears carnally valid, the reality is that neither China nor Russia, of themselves, are prophesied to takeover the USA.

Yet partially because of increasing Chinese naval and other military influence, the USA will apparently expend so much energy preparing for military possibilities involving China that it will not be prepared for what is coming out of Europe.

Perhaps I should mention that much of the time that Karl Guttenberg’s name is brought up by the online press it is in conjunction with him being involved in a plagiarism scandal that stripped him of his doctorate.

Baron Guttenberg was so embarrassed by the plagiarism scandal that he resigned as Germany’s Defense Minister.  He then went on a self-imposed exile to the USA. He is one who, however, could possibly be the final Beast of biblical prophecy or at least one who may be involved in his rise.  He has taken various steps consistent with Bible prophecy and at least partially fulfilled at least seven speculative predictions that I have made about him (see Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?).

Notice the following about the man who will become the final King of the North, the Beast of the sea of Revelation 13:

Russia’s President Putin hosted a meeting for 15 Eastern Orthodox churches Thursday:

President Vladimir Putin praised close ties between the Kremlin and the powerful Orthodox Church as he hosted top Orthodox clergy from across the world Thursday to mark the 1025th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in Russia.

Convening the heads and senior members of 15 Orthodox Churches for an unprecedented meeting at the Kremlin, Putin praised the moral authority of the Church as he seeks to strengthen his power following huge protests against his 13-year rule.

“It is important that relations between the state and the church are developing at a new level,” Putin said in televised remarks, with Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill by his side.

“We act as genuine partners and colleagues to solve the most pressing domestic and international tasks, to implement joint initiatives for the benefit of our country and people,” he told the black-robed clerics.

Alongside Kirill, those present included Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria, Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Ilia II of Georgia, the Kremlin said.

Also present were the heads of the Bulgarian, Serbian, Polish and Cypriot Orthodox Churches. Together they represented more than 227 million faithful.

The Russian Orthodox Church, through leaders such as Patriarch Kirill, has supported Vladimir Putin. And he and that church have supported Vladimir Putin, even when many Russians were turning against him.

So now, Vladimir Putin has hosted something that Patriarch Kirill is most likely quite pleased with.

I believe that Russian Patriarch Kirill has a keen interest in politics and ecumenical matters.  For a while, I believe that the Russian Orthodox Church will support, at least to a degree, the ecumenical religion that the Vatican will change into.

And that will not be a good thing according to Bible prophecy.

But, ultimately, the Russian Orthodox Church will turn against the ecumenical faith and likely encourage the Russian leadership later in the 21st century to turn against what will have risen up in Europe.

It has been a couple of unusual news days related to Syria, Israel, the USA, and a possible war in the region.  Notice the following:

Are Obama’s Leaks Provoking an Israel–Syria War?

The commonly known adage “with friends like these, who needs enemies?” may very well apply to the Obama administration.  Recent leaks stemming from the US government about Israeli operations in Syria may have put Israeli security in jeopardy and endangered its civilian population…ironically, while he cautioned that there was “too much loose talk of war,” it has been Obama’s officials who have continually leaked information on secret Israeli operations in both Iran and Syria…

In both Israel and the U.S., many are asking whether the Obama administration is trying to start a war between Israel and Syria.  Intentional leaks by the administration officials could certainly provoke one.  It should be understood by Obama’s Middle East advisors that publicly humiliating an Arab leader like Syrian President Bashar Assad would leave him with no choice but to retaliate.  By exposing Israel as the attacker on his military assets, Assad would be compelled to act, even though he is engaged in a civil war and can ill afford to fight Israel directly.

Israel threatens to attack Syria if ‘provocations continue’

“If provocations by the Syrian government continue, Israel will have no choice but to respond accordingly,” Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor said during a UN Security Council meeting about the Middle East on Tuesday.

Prosor repeated Western allegations that Syria possessed chemical weapons and that Israel could not tolerate it.

“I have said it before and I’ll say it again, Assad has chemical weapons,” he said.

“The situation is made all the more dangerous by the fact that Assad has received advanced weapons systems that Israel simply cannot allow,” Prosor added.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Al-Jaafari: Israel’s Occupation of Arab Lands Reached Dangerous Stages

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari warned that the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories has reached dangerous stages in light of the international inability to force Israel to end its occupation in implementation of the relevant international legitimacy resolutions…

“The Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and its repercussions on the overall security and stability of the region has reached very dangerous stages in light of the international inability to compel Israel to end its occupation,” said al-Jaafari…

“Israel’s continued aggressive practices have raised tension in the region to unprecedented levels portending a large-scale regional war that would definitely endanger the international peace and security,” al-Jaafari warned…

Al-Jaafari clarified that the Israeli occupation forces have been providing aid to the armed terrorist groups in the Disengagement Zone in the Golan through admitting the injured terrorists to the Israeli hospitals to be treated and then allowing them back into Syria to resume their terrorist acts.

So, both Israel and Syria are blaming each other and stating that the other is about to cause a war, while the USA seemingly leaks information to incense both sides.  I should also add that the USA has plans to consider sending in thousands of its troops into Syria, but instead may wish for Israel to handle the fighting instead.

While all of that is going on, Iran (Syria’s closest military ally) continues to work on its nuclear and other plans.  Conflict is coming to the region.  And while Israel and the USA will likely not not be unscathed, this will not end well for Syria as ultimately its capital city Damascus will be destroyed per Isaiah 17:1).

The Bible tells of a time when a confederation of territory, currently dominated by Islamic nations, will get together. And that type of confederation is what a major Sunni group called the Muslim Brotherhood is working towards developing–and they play a significant role in the opposition to Syria’s President Assad. Because the Bible predicts this type of confederation in the end times (see Ezekiel 30:1-8; Daniel 11:40-43), it will come to pass.

Since Syria is one of the countries that will support the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40), and its President Assad is basically on the outs with other Arabic nations, something (like him and his government) will have to change there.

Statements from the governments of the USA, Syria, and Israel strongly suggest that they are all moving towards military conflict.
