The European Union and USA have been engaged in trade talks for some time.  One program is called TTIP. Here are some comments about it:

Agriculture will inevitably be an extremely contentious issue on both sides of the Atlantic as negotiations on an EU-US bilateral trade deal continue.

Washington and Brussels have been discussing ways to create free trade zones. Observers note that the U.S., along with Western Europe, is trying to form a union that is not only economic but also political in essence, in order to protect itself from the expansion of China…

The most ambitious of these may become the Transatlantic Partnership. It bears mentioning that German Chancellor Angela Merkel first put forward this idea. In spring 2007, Berlin introduced a package of proposals for the harmonization of EU and U.S. legislation in economics and trade spheres…

U.S.-E.U. pact could redefine global trade standards

Recently, the United States and the EU have embarked on an ambitious new venture with the potential to reshape our relationship and redefine the nature of global commerce. Flying largely under the radar, the first round of negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) took off July 8 through 12 in Washington, D.C. Although most Americans have barely heard of TTIP — if they’ve heard of it at all — this plan for economic and political merger of the United States and the European Union will assume ever greater urgency over the next year as the negotiation process concludes and we move closer and closer to a vote in Congress…

President Obama followed through on this commitment, joining European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso to announce the initiation of TTIP negotiations.

On June 17, at the G8 Summit in Lough Erne, Ireland, President Obama joined British Prime Minister David Cameron and Messrs. Barroso and Van Rompuy to again pitch the jobs-and-prosperity promise in a press conference to boost the TTIP.

Van Rompuy gave a hint as to the deeper nature of the proposed EU-U.S. partnership.

“The positive ramifications will even go beyond the economy as such,” he said. “We are making our economies all over the world more interdependent.” For those familiar with globospeak, “interdependent” and “interdependence” are instantly recognized as favorite terms of one-world activists who abhor national independence and sovereignty. It is the basis of “The Project” — which is how EU insiders refer to their burgeoning superstate. Although it was originally sold to the public of the six original member nations merely as a coal and steel collective, the architects had planned from the beginning to keep “widening” (adding more member states) and “deepening” (usurping more and more national powers). The deepening process involves “integration” and “harmonization,” which means completely intertwining the economies, political structures, policies, laws and regulations, and bringing them all under the authority of the EU institutions.

Barroso provided another hint, stating that the TTIP is “a powerful demonstration of our determination to shape an open and rules-based world.” Yes, but many observers would point out that if we are to go by the “rules-based” model imposed on the EU by Barroso and his confreres, we are talking about arbitrary international rules that will be fashioned by faceless, unaccountable international rule-makers, and enforced by international bureaucrats, regulators, and tribunals…

I have reported about TTIP in the past (see New global order negotiations will not have USA or UK on top and EU-USA trade deal feared to result in loss of USA sovereignty: But end result will be worse). The Bible tells of a time when a European Beast power will control buying and selling:

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)

The Bible also tells that this will make some in the world wealthy (cf. Revelation 18).  But that also suggests that the Europeans will have set a lot of the rules and that is what TTIP seems to be intended to do.  Could TTIP be a prelude to Revelation 13:16-18?  It seems like it very well may be.  Economically, the USA is no longer going to be the head, but the tail (cf. Deuteronomy 28:13,44).  This new world order will result in the Europeans being on top (but only for a while).

The USA is relatively soon going to find itself in a position that it is more tied to the EU than its citizens want and this will make things difficult for leaders in the USA to be able to deal with the military threat that is starting to rise up in Europe. This combined with the fact that the USA has basically agreed to release most of its espionage tactics and details to the EU and is likely pledging to do less spying on the EU is putting the USA in a position that it will ultimately be able to be taken over by the EU. The Bible is clear that the nation with the strongest fortresses (strongest military) will be taken over by the final European King of the North.

Here are several translations of the passage that shows that in Daniel 11:39:

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (NKJV)

39 He shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall load with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and shall divide the land for a price. (ESV)

39 He will take action against the strongest of fortresses with the help of a foreign god; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and will cause them to rule over the many, and will parcel out land for a price.. (NASB)

39 Claiming this foreign god’s help, he will attack the strongest fortresses. He will honor those who submit to him, appointing them to positions of authority and dividing the land among them as their reward. (NLT)

39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price. (NIV)

39 He’ll take action against the strongest fortresses. With the help of a foreign god, he’ll recognize those who honor him, making them rule over many, and he’ll parcel out the land for a profit. (ISB of 2012)

For at least two decades, I have believed that a split would happen between the USA and the Europeans partially because of how the Europeans will view how the USA handles/mishandles bilateral trade issues (there are also other factors like USA debt, GMOs, etc.).

As far as loss of USA sovereignty goes, I have long warned that the Europeans will insist on setting a lot of international standards which they already have and this will be a negative for the USA as it is less the nation that leads, but is now becoming more one that follows. Having the USA accept more European standards will also increase the world’s acceptance of European standards. This increase acceptance of European standards is something that very well could come from the current trade talks.

In general, trade agreements benefit both parties involved. Yet as I warned about the current trade talks in the past, ultimately, the deal with the EU will not be good for the United States of America nor the British (nor their Anglo-allies like Canada, Australia, or New Zealand).

I suspect that there will a few areas of major disagreement that will happen in such a trade deal, and that to hide their disappointment, some representing end-time Europe will declare that all is basically fine before they end up taking over the USA, which is prophesied in such scriptures as Daniel 11:39, 8:24-25, etc. The results are more than the loss of normal sovereignty–the USA will be no more.

It is reported that chemical weapons were used in Syria and killed at least hundreds:

(Reuters) – Syrian activists accused President Bashar al-Assad’s forces of launching a gas attack that killed nearly 500 people on Wednesday, in what would, if confirmed, be by far the worst reported use of chemical arms in the two-year-old civil war.

An opposition monitoring group, citing figures compiled from medical clinics in the Damascus suburbs, put the death toll at 494 – 90 percent of them killed by gas, the rest by bombing and conventional arms.

The rebel Syrian National Coalition said 650 people had been killed. Other rebel groups cited even higher figures.

Images, including some taken by freelance photographers and supplied to Reuters, showed scores of bodies including of small children, laid out on the floor of a clinic with no visible signs of injuries. Reuters was not independently able to verify the cause of their death.

BEIRUT The Syrian opposition said Wednesday that state security forces had launched intense artillery and rocket barrages on the eastern suburbs of the capital Damascus, claiming that hundreds of people died in what was being called a “poisonous gas” attack.

George Sabra, deputy head of the Western-backed Syrian National Coalition, said at a news conference that 1,300 people were killed as shells rained down on the capital’s eastern suburbs of Douma, Jobar, Zamalka, Arbeen and Ein Tarma.

(CNN) — Syrian opposition groups claimed that hundreds were killed Wednesday when the government used chemical agents in rebel strongholds in the Damascus countryside.

That death toll could be as high as 1,300 people, George Sabra, the head of the Syrian National Council, said at a news conference. The council is an umbrella group that includes those trying to oust President Bashar al-Assad since the spring of 2011.

Videos posted online by opposition activists show lifeless bodies, most with no visible signs of injury. Many of the injured appeared to be convulsing.  http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/21/world/meast/syria-civil-war/

Syrian activists say at least 100 people have been killed in a government offensive near the capital, Damascus, where forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad are alleged to have used chemical weapons.

Syria quickly denied allegations of a chemical attack.  State media reported military activity in the area, saying that government forces had killed “terrorists” – a term used to refer to rebels opposed to Mr. Assad.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the military fired rockets at sites in Eastern Ghouta and Western Ghouta.  It cited activists in the area who said “poisonous gasses” were used.

Britian and the Arab League have called on Syria to allow U.N. invesigators already in the country to examine sites of the alleged chemical attacks…

Khaled Saleh, a spokesman for the main opposition Syrian National Coalition, strongly criticized the reported attacks, calling the situation in the area “extremely dire.”

“This really is a slap in the face of humanity, in the face of the U.N., in the face of the Friends of Syria group, it’s even a slap in the face of those regimes that support the Assad regime in killing the Syrian people,” he said. “What we want is from those inspectors to come in and see the people that were killed in the country side of Damascus. This is a terrible destruction of human lives.

A year ago, US President Obama stated in the past that the use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime would be a “red line” that it should not cross, with the implied threat of USA military action.  While the Obama Administration seemed to downplay an earlier incident where chemical weapons were reportedly used in Syria, the current incident may be too big for the USA to pretend did not happen.

Syria has, in the past, admitted to having both chemical and biological weapons. While Syria could not win a straight war with the USA, if it release biological weapons in the USA, this could hurt the USA. And a “street war” is Syria would be costly in lives and economically.

Leaders in the USA and Israel have suggested in the past that they may intervene and attack Syria, as well as its ally Iran. But if the USA and Israel do hit one or more of them, Syria and/Iran would likely not fare well, but that does not mean that the USA would not suffer.  How will Barack Obama deal with this or the current problems in Egypt?

While the USA could, in theory, bomb Syrian military installations, does it dare to?

The reality is that the cost to the USA and/or Israel for a regional war involving Iran and/or Syria will be higher than many in the USA or Israel believe. Between terrorist acts, sustained resistance, chemical weapons (Syria Reportedly Has Loaded Chemical Weapons into Bombs), biological weapons, EMP-type bombs (EMP attack can do more than knock-out electricity), and/or even disruptions of the internet (Iran Believed to be Behind Cyber-Attacks Against US Banks), Iran and/or Syria can inflict significant damage to their enemies.

Yet, the USA and the tiny of nation of Israel will not be eliminated by Iran and/or Syria–it will come later (by the King of the North of Daniel 11:39-40).  And both have dropped fairly public hints that they were willing to intervene militarily in Syria (and Israel has done so directly, see Israel bombs Syria; see also Barack Obama softening ‘red line’ about Syrian chemical use? and UK and USA reportedly considering invading Syria because of chemical weapons concerns).

Both biblical and Islamic prophecy tell of the destruction of Syria’s capital Damascus. Here is some of what Bible prophecies teaches:

7 thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass. 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus (Isaiah 7:7-8)

1 The burden against Damascus. “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1)

23 Against Damascus. “Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor. 25 Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy? 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts. 27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad.” (Jeremiah 49:23-27)

Syria will take some actions to trigger the destruction of Damascus.  Someone will destroy that city.  Since Damascus has NOT ceased to be a city since God had Isaiah write that, the time is coming when Damascus will become a ruinous heap.  And that time may be relatively soon.

Since the Bible also suggests that Syria will support the coming final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43; Ezekiel 30:1-8) and a change in or from the Assad regime will be necessary for this to happen–and it will come to pass. Syria’s Assad will either change, break his prior public commitment to not step down or go into exile, or die.

Whether or not the USA more directly intervenes militarily, Syria will change.

“And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” (Mark 13:37).

The Muslim Brotherhood intends to keep up the protests and the Obama Administration denies that it has cut funding for the military-installed government in Egypt:

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood is promising to press on with its massive protests despite the arrest of its spiritual leader, saying its struggle will remain nonviolent.

Egypt’s military detained Mohamed Badie early Tuesday in a neighborhood of eastern Cairo where for weeks protesters rallied against Egypt’s interim military government.  Video of the 70-year-old Badie on Egyptian television showed him sitting on a couch with his hands folded in his lap as a man with a rifle stands by.

During a press conference Tuesday, members of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood demanded an economic boycott, adding they would refuse to buy products from countries that backed Egypt’s interim military government, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Despite intense pressure from the military government, VOA Cairo Correspondent Elizabeth Arrott says the islamist group has vowed not to back down.

“Amir Bassam, on the board of the Brotherhood’s political wing, spoke to VOA by telephone from an undisclosed location in Greater Cairo,” Arrott said. “He said despite the many arrests, it’s impossible to eliminate the Brotherhood as it represents what he called a “genuine, integral, working part of Egyptian society.”

The Brotherhood has appointed 69-year-old Mohamed Ezzat as its temporary spiritual guide.  But Ezzat and the Brotherhood will have to contend with more than Egypt’s military.  http://www.voanews.com/content/egypts-muslim-brotherhood-refuses-to-back-down/1733205.html

The Obama administration is denying reports that it is withholding some military aid to Egypt as it considers a response to escalating violence following the military’s ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Tuesday that a review of the United States’ $1.5 billion a year in assistance to Egypt has not concluded and that published reports suggesting assistance to Egypt has been cut off are “not accurate.” …

U.S. federal law requires the cutoff of aid to any country in which a military coup has displaced an elected government. But despite strongly condemning the Egyptian military crackdown last week that killed hundreds, the administration has said it is not deciding on whether Morsi’s overthrow was a coup. http://www.voanews.com/content/reports-us-suspends-some-military-aid-to-egypt/1733217.html

The official bulletin of the Holy See has lifted the secrecy from the meditation dictated to the cardinals at the beginning of the last conclave, with the doors already closed. Here are the essential passages

The mystery of iniquity originally entered Rome in the first and/or second centuries A.D. in the biblical context, and has not left.

As far as the “smoke of Satan” entering the Church of Rome, this is something that was brought up by Pope Paul VI decades ago.  Here is some of what I wrote about it in my book Fatima Shock!:

1972  is  considered  significant  by  many  because  of statements from the pontiff at the time:

Pope Paul VI spoke on June 29 at St. Peter’s Basilica and said: “By means of some fissure, the smoke of Satan has entered the temple of God…”338

Because  of  the  above  statement,  some  believe  that this confirmed that the third message of Fatima had to do with sin/Satan entering/taking over the Church of Rome beginning in 1972 (though this speech, according to Desmond Birch, whom I checked with, was not intended to have anything to do with Fatima).339

In a radio interview in 1998, Priest Malachi Martin stated that the third secret was related to a pope being under the control of Satan.340   He claimed he had first read the “Secret” (or a transcription of it) in February 1960 when Cardinal Agostino Bea showed it to him.341

But irrespective of that, notice also the following:

Vatican Chief Exorcist Priest Gabriele Amorth said:  “he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said that the consequences of Satanic infiltration included power struggles at the Vatican as well as “cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon“. He added: “When one speaks of ‘the smoke of Satan’ [a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972] in the holy rooms, it is all true – including these latest stories of violence and paedophilia.”342

Both biblical and Catholic prophesy tell of a coming ecumenical religious leader (who sounds like an antipope) that will not really believe in his faith.  Such leaders are already in the Vatican if people such as Priest Amorth can be believed.

Because of reports mentioning 1972 and other problems, some who call themselves Catholic believe that the previous pope and current pontiff have not been truly faithful to the Church of Rome.

I, however, do believe that the current Pope Benedict XVI is committed to the Roman Catholic faith as he understands it—but the one who replaces him may not be. If a combination of certain Catholic prophecies is correct, the next pope is likely to be an antipope/antichrist (see chapter 11).

And that is also a biblical possibility.

Egypt’s military-backed government has arrested the ‘spiritual head’ of the Muslim Brotherhood, while Saudi Arabia backs Egypt’s new leaders:

CAIRO — Egyptian authorities are continuing their crackdown on members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the powerful Islamist group behind ousted President Mohamed Morsi.

Egyptian authorities said they have arrested  Mohamed Badie, the spiritual head of the Muslim Brotherhood. Badie is the most influential member taken into custody in a widespread crackdown against the Islamist group…Badie’s son, Ammar, was killed in subsequent protests.

Badie had been the focus of wrath at rallies held throughout the past year, seen as the true power behind Islamist President Mohamed Morsi.  Mr. Morsi was ousted by the military July 3rd and is being held in an undisclosed location.

Amir Bassam, on the board of the Brotherhood’s political wing, spoke to VOA by telephone from an undisclosed location in Greater Cairo.

He said despite the many arrests, it’s impossible to eliminate the Brotherhood as it represents what he called a “genuine, integral, working part of Egyptian society.”

Mohamed Badie, 70, the Brotherhood’s general guide, was taken from an apartment in Nasr City in northeast Cairo, the area where protesters demanding Morsi’s reinstatement had staged a vigil for six weeks before they were violently dispersed.

He was charged in July with incitement to murder during protests before Morsi’s overthrow and is due to stand trial on Aug. 25 together with his two deputies…The state news agency said Badie was taken to Tora prison on the southern outskirts of Cairo, where other Brotherhood leaders are held…

The Brotherhood, which renounced violence decades ago, has promised peaceful resistance to the army takeover…

The United States urged Egypt not to ban the Brotherhood, an option floated in the past week by the interim prime minister.

Founded in 1928, the Brotherhood used its organizational muscle to propel Morsi to power in last year’s presidential election. CAIRO —  Egypt’s political crisis has dealt a blow to any hopes for a quick economic recovery, but aid from its Gulf allies is likely to prevent a financial collapse.

Clashes between followers of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Morsi and security forces have caused the deaths of at least 830 people since Wednesday, the worst political bloodletting to rock Egypt in recent history…“If you see widespread terrorism and bombs, you won’t get a recovery in tourism or domestic investment, and capital flight may continue,” said Simon Kitchen, a strategist with investment bank EFG Hermes.

But after Morsi was deposed, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates promised Egypt a total of $12 billion in loans, grants and fuel shipments. Of that, $5 billion has already arrived – an unusually fast delivery of aid commitments, showing the importance the Gulf attaches to stabilizing Egypt…Late on Monday, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal signaled that the world’s top crude oil exporter was ready to provide more billions if necessary.

But at a time when many Arabs are growing queasy at the high human cost of the crackdown, “this is an enormous gamble for the king,” said Christopher Davidson, professor of Middle East history at Durham University in England. “Saudi Arabia is putting itself in direct confrontation with the Muslim Brotherhood, which has broad regional sympathy across the region.”

It is also opening a new front in Riyadh’s ongoing rivalry with Qatar and Turkey, both of which have their own regional aspirations and were enthusiastic backers of Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated government.

The situation in the Middle East and North Africa is tense and battle lines are being drawn.

The Muslim Brotherhood itself is a Sunni Muslim group. Most Arabs are Sunni Muslims (countries such as Iran and Iraq are mainly Shi’ite Muslims; Syria has a Shi’ite Muslim leader, though the majority of Syrians are Sunnis). A couple of months ago, Egypt’s President Morsi called for Egyptian fighters to begin a war against three Shi’ite ruled nations, including Syria (see Egypt’s Morsi taking ‘King of the South’ steps, but…). This did not set well with the military in Egypt and it decided that it wanted to see certain changes from President Morsi or it would support the unelected opposition. When the changes the military wanted did not quickly materialize, after mob protests, it removed President Morsi from office and declared the Chief Justice of its Supreme Court, Adly Mansour, as interim president (Adly Mansour installed as Egypt’s interim president).

So, the Muslim Brotherhood called for protests. The military-backed government decided to not tolerate certain protests and helped kill and/or injure thousands of people. And the Muslim Brotherhood keeps calling for protests.

Saudi Arabia is funding the military-backed government in Egypt because it wants regional influence and it is afraid of the Muslim Brotherhood.  The leaders of Saudi Arabia simply do not wish to be swept aside by Muslim Brotherhood supported leader in the region.

The Muslim Brotherhood apparently wants as its top priority a pan-national Islamic caliphate ruled by an Imam. Many Muslims long for the rising up of a leader called the 12th Imam, often referred to as the Imam Mahdi. It will not end up with Spain if I understand certain aspects of Bible prophecy correctly, but the confederation of the final King of the South may go from around Western Sahara and/or Mauritania to Oman (with possible involvement and/or coordination with Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and/or Indonesia).  The leaders of Saudi Arabia are opposed to this as it basically would mean that they would have to answer to whoever runs the caliphate.

Notice a translation of what some, who are part of it, write that the Muslim Brotherhood wants:

…the Islamic Ummah [nation] can regain its power and be liberated and assume its rightful position which was intended by Allah, as the most exalted nation among men, as the leaders of humanity…

He [Hassan al-Banna] felt the grave danger overshadowing the Muslims and the urgent need and obligation which Islam places on every Muslim, man and woman, to act in order to restore the Islamic Caliphate and to reestablish the Islamic State on strong foundations and to liberate the Muslims and defend them from any attack, and to spread the Da’wa (Islamic missionary activity) of Islam in the world and to establish this great religion, which Allah wanted for his servants…

Some think that Shahada (Martyrdom) causes loss and damages the [Muslim Brotherhood] Society, since it has lost influential people in action and Jihad. To bring enough Arab nations together, I have felt that some type of “strongman” needed to rise up.  One who Arabs would tend to respect–who might use or not use the title Imam Mahdi.  The time may be now for him to rise up and the Muslim Brotherhood may play an important role.  The Muslim Brotherhood is is the world’s oldest and largest Islamic political group and has been called the “world’s most influential Islamist movement” (http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/2010/11/2010111681527837704.html)–though some new group could also form.

The Bible tells of confederation of something like what the Muslim Brotherhood wants rising up in North Africa and the Middle East:

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.  (Daniel 11:40-43)

1 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:

“Wail, ‘Woe to the day!’
3 For the day is near,
Even the day of the Lord is near;

Despite the arrests and various shows of force by the military in Egypt or the funding by Saudi Arabia, there is still going to be a rise of a pan-national Arabic power (with likely support from Turkey and others) similar to what the Muslim Brotherhood wants. This is what the Bible prophesies (Daniel 11:40-434; Ezekiel 30:1-9).

Even if the Muslim Brotherhood itself were eliminated (and that is not likely), the situation in Egypt will change.  As far as its goal of a confederation of Arabic, Turkish, and North African peoples, the Bible teaches, “For indeed it is coming!” (Ezekiel 30:9).

Lyme disease seems to be much more prevalent than the government had been estimating:

ATLANTA — Lyme disease is about 10 times more common than previously reported, health officials said Monday.

As many as 300,000 Americans are actually diagnosed with Lyme disease each year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced.

Usually, only 20,000 to 30,000 illnesses are reported each year. For many years, CDC officials have known that many doctors don’t report every case and that the true count was probably much higher.

The new figure is the CDC’s most comprehensive attempt at a better estimate. The number comes from a survey of seven national laboratories, a national patient survey and a review of insurance information.

“It’s giving us a fuller picture and it’s not a pleasing one,” said Paul Mead, who oversees the agency’s tracking of Lyme disease.

The ailment is named after Lyme, Conn., where the illness was first identified in 1975. It’s a bacteria transmitted through the bites of infected deer ticks, which can be about the size of a poppy seed.  http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/19/lyme-disease-estimate/2671237/

Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease is diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks; laboratory testing is helpful if used correctly and performed with validated methods.  http://www.cdc.gov/lyme/

My own experience is that many people have greater trouble with Lyme disease than the government tends to report.  Lyme disease can be very difficult and troubling.

The Bible warns that there will pestilences in the end times. Jesus taught:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8)

We seem to be in the time Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows”. There have been “earthquakes in various places” this past year. There are some famines and they may increase soon.

Notice also the following end time prophecies:

12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. (Ezekiel 5:12)

⁷ When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” ⁸ So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. (Revelation 6:7-8)

Many believe that infectious diseases are part of the “beasts of the earth” that are prophesied to kill a significant portion of humankind in Revelation 6:7-8, especially in the light of what Jesus taught in Matthew 24:7-8 and what is also recorded in Ezekiel 5:12 and other scriptures.

Epidemics Of The Future

The world has yet to see the last of widespread disease epidemics. That, in effect, was what Jesus Christ told His disciples in the pivotal Olivet prophecy recorded in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.
Right along with wars and famine came pestilence: “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places” (Matt. 24:7). These were some of the prophetic signs that Christ listed in answering the question, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world [age]?” (Verse 3.)
Granted, pestilence, famine and war have been ongoing problems that have plagued mankind ever since the dawn of history. But the main thrust of Christ’s message is futuristic. The overall context of the Olivet prophecy readily attests to this fact. In verses 21 and 22 of Matthew 24, Christ referred to a time when the total annihilation of human life would be a distinct possibility. Only with the recent development of multiple-megaton nuclear weaponry could such an event have become a reality.
The book of Revelation also underscores the fact that such tumultuous times are yet in store for the future. John’s apocalyptic scenario centers around the events surrounding the Day of the Lord (Rev.1:10). In the sixth chapter we see war, famine and pestilence (the last three of the four horsemen of John’s vision) riding together at this critical juncture in world history.

The Pale Horseman Rides

With both the black horse of famine and the red horse of war riding roughshod over the earth, it is only natural for the pale horse of pestilence to follow hard on their heels. Ezekiel also described the devastating effect this deadly triad can have: “A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part in to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them” (Ezek. 5:12).
Parallel prophecies found in the Old Testament clearly indicate why man will continue to suffer from the ravages of disease. Notice this cause-and­effect relationship as outlined in the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy: “But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God,” warns man’s Creator, “the Lord will make the pestilence cling to you until He has consumed you from off the land, which you go to possess. The Lord will smite you with consumption [wasting, degenerative disease], with fever and inflammation [possibly infectious contagions)…. and the tumors, the scurvy [deficiency disease] and the itch, of which you cannot be healed. The Lord will smite you with madness [mental disorders] and blind-ness and dismay of heart [emotional trauma]” (verses 15, 21-22, 27-28, The Amplified Bible).
Misgovernment, greed and oppression over the course of nearly 6000 years of history have saddled the human race with the unwanted burden of disease. For instance, man’s proclivity to crowd into disease — prone cities is indicative of this problem. And it is interesting to note that Bible prophecy seems to indicate that this crowd-at­all-costs policy will eventually backfire on the human race. Notice Leviticus 26:25: “… And when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you… .” Also Ezekiel 7:15: “The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.”

“Novel” diseases and/or strains of diseases are happening and may be related to the pestilences that are prophesied to come.  Lyme disease seems to be one of those ‘novel’ diseases as it was not known to exist in humans before 1975.

Remember that Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Are chemicals in food packaging making children fat? Experts warn they expand waistlines and increase the risk of diabetes

• Urine levels of one type of chemical, used to soften plastic, were tied to a higher risk of insulin resistance among teenagers
• Another study group linked bisphenol A, or BPA – used to line aluminum cans – to obesity and larger waists in young people
• Researchers advise not washing plastic in a dishwasher and throwing it away once its old or etched

‘Clearly unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity are the drivers of this epidemic … but increasingly environmental chemicals are being identified as possible contributors,’ Dr. Leonardo Trasande, a pediatrician from New York University, said.

He and his colleagues analysed data from a nationally-representative health and nutrition survey conducted in 2003 to 2008, which included urine and blood tests for 766 adolescents aged 12 to 19.

But, of course, it is not just a few chemicals that contribute to obesity. Processed sugars and grains, the abundance of relatively inexpensive foods, the availability of so much food, are also factors.

One of the most comprehensive studies tracking the health of Australians has released findings that paint a disturbing picture of the nation’s battle with diabetes and obesity.

The AusDiab study was funded through a National Health and Medical Research Council grant and followed 11,000 Australians for 12 years.

Researchers found the incidence of diabetes remained very high, with almost 270 adult Australians diagnosed each day, and people aged 25-34 were gaining more weight than other age groups…In line with previous trends, obesity levels continued to rise.

The report found that the average gain in waist circumference over the 12 years of the study was 5.3 centimetres and it was greater in women than men. The Bible warns about obesity, getting fat, and excessive eating.

Notice some of what Moses and Jeremiah wrote:

15 You grew fat, you grew thick,
You are obese!
Then he forsook God who made him,
And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods;
With abominations they provoked Him to anger. (Deuteronomy 32:15-16)

11 “Because you were glad, because you rejoiced,
You destroyers of My heritage,
Because you have grown fat like a heifer threshing grain,
And you bellow like bulls,
12 Your mother shall be deeply ashamed;
She who bore you shall be ashamed.
Behold, the least of the nations shall be a wilderness,
A dry land and a desert. (Jeremiah 50:11-12)

God inspired the prophet Isaiah to write:

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good (Isaiah 55:2).

Many do not often eat what is good. Many eat too many chemically-laced highly processed foods. Many eat a lot of white bread, which is really not real bread as it has had the wheat germ and other natural components removed. This makes an inferior product which then is sprayed with synthetic B vitamins and other “nutrients” to “fortify” it. If you notice “B vitamins” added to “fortify” refined grain products or in so-called “natural” vitamin supplements (like thiamin mononitrate, thiamin HCL, folic acid, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine hydrochloride, cyanocobalamin), realize that these are basically petroleum derivatives and are not the same form of vitamins that are actually found in real, natural, food.

But most Westerners consume the synthetics, chemicals, and refined grains.

The other problem is that many eat too much. The Bible warns against this:

18 “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, 19 then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. 20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ 21 Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

20 Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; 21 For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty (Proverbs 23:20-21)

But notice that the Bible warns against eating bad foods and eating too much. And also notice that at least two curses are associated with this. Curses of destruction and poverty.

Poverty and destruction will come to the peoples of the United States and its British-descended allies. And, likely, famine as well (Matthew 24:7-8) before the start of the Great Tribulation.

Notice something else Isaiah and Jeremiah were inspired to write:

6 Therefore the Lord, the Lord of hosts,
Will send leanness among his fat ones;
And under his glory
He will kindle a burning
Like the burning of a fire. (Isaiah 10:16)

28 They have grown fat, they are sleek;
Yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the fatherless;
Yet they prosper,
And the right of the needy they do not defend.
29 Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the Lord.
‘Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’ (Jeremiah 5:28-29)

And despite current abundance, famine and food shortages are coming (and may start in certain northern countries, though not necessarily the USA, see Zechariah 6:6, cf. Revelation 6:5-6).

The end of the USA and its Anglo-descended allies is coming. There is no prophecy in scripture that I believe even hints that a country like the current USA will exist after the King of the North succeeds (cf. Daniel 11:39, which seems to be the only reference to the USA in that chapter, and shows its conquering and division). National repentance, which does not seem likely at this stage, is the only hope. But individuals themselves can turn to God. And although obesity is a multi-factorial problem, all who are overweight, even the irreligious, can eat less, try to avoid chemical additives, and make better food choices.

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

In a move, even further away from biblical morality, the Governor of New Jersey is expected to sign a bill against converting minors away from homosexuality:

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie plans to sign a bill Monday barring licensed therapists from trying to turn gay teenagers straight, making New Jersey the second state to ban so-called conversion therapy, along with California.

The bill passed both houses of the New Jersey Legislature with bipartisan support in June. Assemblyman Tim Eustace, who sponsored the bill and is openly gay, described the therapy as “an insidious form of child abuse.”

Gay activists pushing the ban were uncertain what Christie would do.

In a signing note accompanying the bill that will be made public Monday, Christie said he believes people are born gay and that homosexuality is not a sin. That view is inconsistent with his Catholic faith.

The Republican governor also said the health risks of trying to change a child’s sexual orientation, as identified by the American Psychological Association, outweigh concerns over the government setting limits on parental choice.  http://www.northjersey.com/news/state/NJ_governor_to_sign_ban_on_gay_conversion_therapy.html

The Bible does not support provisions to remain homosexual (it supports the opposite, see 1 Corinthians 6:8-11), thus this seems to be a major infringement upon both parental and religious rights. Anti-conversion laws like this are wrong.  UPDATE 13:00 pm PDT: Governor Christie did sign this anti-conversion law today (http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-chris-christie-gay-conversion-20130819,0,6276501.story).

Those who believed that American Republicans could be counted on in moral issues hopefully will see that Republicans are not the answer.  The USA needs national repentance, which is not likely, and the return of Jesus Christ, which will happen–but not the way that many who profess Christianity in the USA expect.

The following passage, written nearly two thousand years ago, essentially predicts resurgences of amorality, plus explains why this happens:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:18-32)

Many do not wish to retain the word of God in their knowledge. Also notice that God warned that many would “also approve of those who practice” various forms of sin. This is what more and more leaders are doing–directly and indirectly.

There were other societies that have had their own issues of openly advocating sins that their residents seemed to view as acceptable. Notice what happened in a couple of such towns between three thousand and four thousand years ago:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

And why did it happen?

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Why mention this in the 21st century? Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6,
NKJV)

National repentance is the only real long-term hope for the USA (and it seems to be too late for that).  The USA will have to experience the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21), before Jesus will return.

Keeping the Ten Commandments reflects love. Breaking them and/or condoning those that do is evil. This should be clear to those who believe the God of the Bible.

The Bible tells parents to teach their children God’s ways:

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 6:4-7)

6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

Yet, freedom to involve others when a child strays towards homosexuality is being made illegal in the USA.  This is an outrage, but is also a sign of the times.

North and South Korea have agreed to discuss some type of family reunification:

North Korea on Sunday accepted a South Korean offer for talks on reuniting families separated by war, but proposed separate talks on resuming lucrative tours to a scenic North Korean mountain in an apparent effort to link the two discussions.

Last week, the two Koreas agreed to work toward a resumption of a jointly run factory park in North Korea, raising hopes for improved ties between the rivals. Seoul subsequently proposed Red Cross talks Friday on restarting the reunions.

On Sunday, an unidentified spokesman at Pyongyang’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said the North had agreed on the Red Cross talks. South and North Korea are jockeying over the issue of holding the first reunion since 2010 of families separated by the Korean War.

On Sunday, North Korea said it accepted a proposal made by Seoul last week for talks about reunions, which were suspended after two military attacks by North Korea in 2010 that killed 50 South Koreans.

But the acceptance came with a significant counter-proposal–that the talks be held at the Mount Kumgang resort in North Korea, as well as the actual family meetings. This would be great if the family unification were to happen.  Families should not have to be separated like this.  It also may be a prelude to prophecy.

According to the Bible, a type of confederation will happen with the ‘kings of the sunrise” (Revelation 16:12), and this may suggest that reunification will come for North and South Korea in the future.

The world is losing trust in the dollar as a safe haven. A major blow came after Germany’s Bundesbank demanded the repatriation of a big chunk of its gold being held in the US. Because as RT’s Gayane Chichakyan reports, some are concerned the assets of foreign nations in the Federal Reserve are not secure or even there. The Germans were infuriated when the US Federal reserve didn’t even let them examine their own assets properly. Peter Boehringer, the founder and chairman of ‘German Precious Metal Association’, says that’s a bad sign.

Back in January, I reported that Germany wanted its gold back (Germany wants its gold back), and apparently they are not too happy about how the USA is handling this now.

Biblical (Daniel 11:40-44) and non-biblical prophecies point out that the final leader that the Bible calls the King of the North, who will likely have Germanic/Assyrian heritage (cf. Daniel 11:30 with Numbers 24:24), will value gold. Notice something that I wrote and had published in the late Summer of 2012 about this in my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States:

Daniel 11:43:

43 He shall have power over the treasures of goldand silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyansand Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.

The “he” is the King of the North.This is the same King of the North that valued gold and silver in Daniel 11:38 (although other scriptures, also show that gold and silver will have value around this time, like Revelation 18; 9:20, the Bible is clear that gold and silver will be worthless for a short time before Jesus returns, e.g. Ezekiel 7: 19).

The fact that the King of the Northwill accumulate gold(and some silver) is consistent with several Byzantine(“Greek” Orthodox) prophecies of their expected Great Monarch:

Emperor Leo the Philosopher(died 912): You will amass gold…And you will be the leader of the surrounding nations…

Addressed to Emperor Manuel II Palaeogous(died 1425): The Emperor…will discover goldand silver…

Saint Andrew Fool-for-Christ(c. 4^th century):God will reveal to this king all the goldwherever it happen to lay concealed from view…

One side note is that, in Egypt, major golddeposits were found in 2006.This is relevant for a couple of reasons, including that it does prove that Egypt now does have enough gold that some foreign power would be interested in taking/using it (and in that respect is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy).

It seems since many are now questioning the role of the U.S.dollar as the world’s reserve currency, more are looking into other currencies as well as gold.Gold will set records in U.S. dollar terms.When the U.S.dollar totally collapses people all around the world will consider that even if the Euro (or something similar)is strong, having a more gold-backed currency would be safer.The collapse of the U.S.A. dollar will shake a lot of the world’s confidence in non-gold backed currencies.

Having the European power acquiring a lot more goldto back the Euro (even if the backing is only implied) or possibly other future European currency (that might potentially replace the Euro or even a basket of currencies) may greatly increase European credibility, prosperity, and influence around the globe. The fact that many in Germany are getting more interest in their national stock piles of gold is consistent with proper understanding of end time biblical prophecy.  As is the fact that the Germans are getting upset with how the USA has been handling this.
