Is time running out on the debt bomb?
COGwriter
Mike Burnick of Money and Markets (M&M) reported the following:
Brace Yourself for the Dreaded Debt Ceiling Debate
August 16, 2017
It’s almost that time again …
I’m talking about that time-honored tradition in Washington, D.C.: Fiscal Follies, 2017!
It’s one of the longest-running dramas on Capitol Hill: The dreaded debt-ceiling debate.
Well, buckle up. The latest rendition is about to play out all over again in September and into October, when the U.S. Treasury runs out of money. That is, if Congress fails to act to raise the debt ceiling (again) by then.
Making things even more-exciting this time is President Donald Trump playing a lead role in the 2017 production. Which means anything can happen … and probably will.
Of course, the D.C. debt-ceiling drama has been going on periodically for decades. It doesn’t always attract much attention, except for the occasional threat of a government shutdown. …
Total U.S. debt at all levels — government, business and consumer — is a staggering $175 trillion today. Much higher as a percentage of GDP than at the start of the financial crisis.
Undoubtedly, Congress and the White House will figure out a way to kick the can further down the road yet again. Perhaps only after some more fiscal drama in the weeks ahead.
But don’t kid yourself that they can somehow diffuse the ticking time bomb of debt. The ultimate day of reckoning is fast-approaching. https://www.moneyandmarkets.com/brace-dreaded-debt-ceiling-debate-88068
Is Mike Burnick correct that government leaders will not diffuse the ticking time bomb of debt?
Yes.
We have seen many failed attempts by US government officials to deal with the debt situation, but despite various attempts, the debt continues to rise. The so-called ‘debt-ceiling’ has not acted as an actual ceiling, only a time to debate spending. Once the debate is essentially closed, the debt-ceiling gets raised. This raising is basically also supported by the mainstream media and accepted by most American voters.
This brings to mind the following from the Bible:
12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
Many do not believe that debt can lead to destruction, but the Bible teaches otherwise:
43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).
7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).
9 “Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster! 10 You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul. 11 For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it. (Habakkuk 2:9-11)
It is the the United States and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies that have loaded pledges of debt in these end times (cf. Habakkuk 2) that they really do not expect to pay back. In that respect they have recently plundered many nations. And while much is owed to nations such as China, Japan, and the Arab World, the Europeans have trillions of dollars invested in the USA–money they may be disappointed to have devalued, and actually the Europeans seem to hold the most US debt (see EU reportedly the largest holder of USA debt). Enough so that they may divide the land among themselves and other creditors (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).
Since US President Donald Trump has referred to himself as “the king of debt,” do not expect him to truly solve this.
Is Mike Burnick correct that the ultimate day of reckoning is fast-approaching?
It is approaching, The main question is how one defines fast.
If that means will the USA be destroyed because of its debt in 2017, then the answer is no.
If that means will the USA be destroyed because of its debt before the end of the first Donald Trump presidential term, then the answer is no.
If that means will the USA be destroyed because of its debt later this century, like some time in the next couple of decades, then the answer is yes.
The USA does not intend to pay back its debt. Nor, should I add, does the UK which has one of the largest per capita debts in the world.
The USA and UK (as well as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) will one day be destroyed.
This will happen during what Jesus called the “great tribulation” (Matthew 24:21) and Jeremiah called the “time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7).
How bad could it be?
Worse than most any one can imagine. Notice some statements from Jesus:
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:21-22)
23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:23-24)
How bad will it get? Notice the following from Jeremiah:
1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces
Has become a slave! (Lamentations 1:1)
5 Her adversaries have become the master,
Her enemies prosper;
For the Lord has afflicted her
Because of the multitude of her transgressions.
Her children have gone into captivity before the enemy. (Lamentations 1:5)
17 Zion spreads out her hands,
But no one comforts her;
The Lord has commanded concerning Jacob
That those around him become his adversaries; (Lamentations 1:17)
2 The Lord has swallowed up and has not pitied
All the dwelling places of Jacob.
He has thrown down in His wrath
The strongholds of the daughter of Judah;
He has brought them down to the ground;
He has profaned the kingdom and its princes.
3 He has cut off in fierce anger
Every horn of Israel;
He has drawn back His right hand
From before the enemy.
He has blazed against Jacob like a flaming fire
Devouring all around.
4 Standing like an enemy, He has bent His bow;
With His right hand, like an adversary,
He has slain all who were pleasing to His eye;
On the tent of the daughter of Zion,
He has poured out His fury like fire. (Lamentations 2:2-4)
1 My eyes fail with tears,
My heart is troubled;
My bile is poured on the ground
Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people,
Because the children and the infants
Faint in the streets of the city.
12 They say to their mothers,
“Where is grain and wine?”
As they swoon like the wounded
In the streets of the city,
As their life is poured out
In their mothers’ bosom. (Lamentations 2:11-12)
1 “Young and old lie
On the ground in the streets;
My virgins and my young men
Have fallen by the sword;
You have slain them in the day of Your anger,
You have slaughtered and not pitied. (Lamentations 2:21)
8 Now their appearance is blacker than soot;
They go unrecognized in the streets;
Their skin clings to their bones,
It has become as dry as wood.
9 Those slain by the sword are better off
Than those who die of hunger;
For these pine away,
Stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.
10 The hands of the compassionate women
Have cooked their own children;
They became food for them
In the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 The Lord has fulfilled His fury,
He has poured out His fierce anger.
He kindled a fire in Zion,
And it has devoured its foundations. (Lamentations 4:8-11)
5 They pursue at our heels;
We labor and have no rest.
6 We have given our hand to the Egyptians
And the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. (Lamentations 5:5-6)
15 The joy of our heart has ceased;
Our dance has turned into mourning.
16 The crown has fallen from our head.
Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Because of this our heart is faint;
Because of these things our eyes grow dim; (Lamentations 5:15-17)
Since Jesus said this will be the greatest tribulation of all time, it will be at least as bad as what Jeremiah was inspired to write.
Is all hopeless?
No!
Jeremiah also wrote:
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the Lord. (Lamentations 3:25-26)
Although your nation probably will not repent (Anglo or otherwise), you can.
Jesus taught:
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)
Watch, pray, examine yourself, and live as Jesus wants His most faithful to live. Jesus warned that some who thought that they were His people would not do that until it was too late (Matthew 25:1-13).
Those that are Christians, but lukewarm Christians, are admonished by Jesus to repent:
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:14-19)
While all Christians are NOT promised protection from what is coming (cf. Revelation 12:14-17), Jesus told the Philadelphian Christians:
10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘ (Revelation 3:10-13)
The Bible does teach that there is a place of safety for the Philadelphians.
A terrible time is coming. The time bomb of debt is ticking.
Repent.
Seek to live as a Philadelphian Christian.
Do not wait until it is too late (cf. Matthew 25:1-13).
Sadly, most people will not repent and most Christians will wait until it is too late to become Philadelphian (cf. Revelation 3, 12:17; Daniel 7:25b).
