Despite criticism from the USA press and various political opponents, US President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland today. The two met privately with only their interpreters for two hours, before then having a late lunch meeting together being joined by their respective advisors.

Yes, as President Trump said, the USA and Russia have massive nuclear arsenals.

But will they be used against each other?

Is a massive war with Russia imminent?

No.

Notice something that the late Hebert W. Armstrong wrote decades ago, during the time of the old Soviet Union, titled Why Russia Will Not Attack the United States:

For decades now, the prospect of war between Russia and the United States has continually heightened and lessened.

Many who claim to be authorities on prophecy assure people a war involving Russia and the United States, Canada and England is prophesied in Ezekiel 38.

The United States, Britain and other democracies of north-western Europe, they recognize, are nations descended from the lost Ten Tribes. Therefore, they conclude, the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 foretells a military invasion of the North American continent from the Soviet Union. But this is not what prophecy says…

But this very fact – that this invasion will not come until after the Second Coming of Christ – will seem preposterous to many, at first thought.

That is because we have been accustomed merely to assume things that are not true. We have blindly assumed that when Christ comes, there will be no opposition. Every person and power on earth, we have thought, will simply submit meekly and instantly to him and his power. But that is not true!

Some gentile nations understandably shall not submit until forced to. The final restoration of the Roman Empire shall be subdued and conquered at a battle commonly called “Armageddon.” But the populous nations of Eurasia that the Almighty God up to this point has not dealt with shall still have to be brought to submission.

“Gog” Identified“Gog in the land of “Magog” is the vast regions of the U.S.S.R. in northern Eurasia extending from the Baltic to the Pacific. “Meshech” is Moscow, “Tubal” is Tobol’sk.Notice the allies who come with them in this future battle. You will find “Gomer” “Togarmah,” “Magog,” “Meshech” “Tubal” identified in Genesis 10 as the sons of Japheth, father of the Eurasians. Ethiopia and Phut (mistranslated Libya) are descended from Ham.

Therefore, this prophecy of Ezekiel 38 shows who shall finally succeed in marshaling peoples of each major race into a gigantic invasion upon our people.

When God begins to rule the world, through Christ – with His chosen people restored to prosperity in the land of Israel, the very center of the land surface of the earth (verse 12, Moffatt translation) – this, great Eurasian union of nations shall finally be tempted to use their mighty air force. Some Bible scholars assert falsely that these prophecies of Ezekiel were fulfilled anciently. They never were. Others believe they are about to occur but some years before Armageddon. Both views are erroneous. The events of Ezekiel 38 and 39 are without question still future – for the “latter days” (38: 16) and “latter years” (38:8). Moreover, Ezekiel 38:14 describes the time setting as being “in that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely.” This is certainly not the situation in the State of Israel to- day! The Israel described by Ezekiel is a nation that dwells in security, in unwalled villages, totally unprepared for war (38:8, 11, 14). Read it for yourself! Russia and the USA are not about to go to a massive ‘hot’ war.

Let me add Ezekiel 38 is for the distant future–and right at/after the millennium (cf. Revelation 20:7-9; see also Ezekiel 38: For Russia & Iran in Our Day?; a related video is also available titled Ezekiel 38: For Russia, Ukraine, & Iran Now?).

But that does not mean that there cannot be military conflict between the USA and Russia now (and there may be some).

Yet, while Russia will not be the dominant force in the world for the next several years (Europe will), the time will come when the USA will not be.

But, I do believe that Russia will wish to cooperate with Europe to assist in ending the existence of the USA. I believe it may well end up with Alaska, as well as parts of Canada (see Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future and Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?).

However, as various prophetic matters have not happened (for details, check out the article When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?), it is fair to say that the USA will remain a nation until sometime AFTER the first term of Donald Trump’s presidency.

President Donald Trump says he spent a “great deal of time” addressing Russian meddling in the U.S. election during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki but he wouldn’t directly criticize his Russian counterpart over the issue.

“During today’s meeting I addressed the issue of Russian interference in our elections. I felt this was a message best delivered in person,”Trump told reporters during joint news conference with the Russian leader.

U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded Russia meddled in the 2016 election,but Putin, in his remarks Monday, said “I had to repeat that the Russian state never interfered, and does not plan to interfere in internal American electoral process.”

Republicans and Democrats alike are dismayed by President Trump’s comments at his joint press conference with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Monday. Mr. Trump stunned onlookers by repeatedly defending Putin during the press conference from allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and casting doubt on conclusions to that effect made by U.S. intelligence agencies.

Ari Fleischer, a Republican and prominent Trump defender who served as former President George W. Bush’s press secretary, said that while he still does not believe Mr. Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 elections, he understands now why people think he’s being blackmailed.

“I continue to believe there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. But when Trump so easily and naively accepts Putin’s line about not being involved, I can understand why [Democrats] think Putin must have the goods on him,” Fleischer tweeted. …

In a series of tweets after the press conference, South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, an ally of Mr. Trump, called the meeting with Putin a “missed opportunity” that would be perceived by “weakness” by Russia.  …

The USA is more and more a house divided–which is not good (Matthew 12:25). Donald Trump is a factor (though not the only one) in this division.

A reader sent me a link to an article in Italian, that I machine-translated into English. Here is some of what it said:

Lorenzo Fontana and Mario Borghesio said the arrival of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima in Strasbourg is “a unique event.” “Few people know that the symbol of unified Europe has exquisitely Marian origins, as the European Union’s official flag proves with its twelve stars and the Virgin Mary’s blue and white colours.”…

A competition was held in order to choose the flag and French Catholic designer Arsène Heitz won. The meaning of the flag’s symbolism can be found in an image of Marian devotion…

Heitz was inspired by the “Miraculous Medal” he wore around his neck: a medal named after apparition of the Virgin Mary to St Catherine Laboure in 1830. It was the Virgin Mary who told the nun to have twelve stars struck on the medal, in representation of the the stars on the crown worn by the woman in the Book of Revelation. Saint Bernadette Soubirous also had a necklace made of tin and string around her neck when the Virgin Mary appeared to her on 11 February 1858, dressed in white and blue.

Arsène Heitz did not reveal the symbol’s biblical origin (he only did so later on), but claimed the number twelve was meant to symbolise ancient wisdom, a “symbol of completeness”. This interpretation stuck and the number was confirmed in the constitutional treaty. So the European flag has a powerful Christian and Marian significance. As far as the Vatican’s version of Mary goes, earlier this year, Pope Francis announced a new Marian holiday:

The decree stated that the feast day is intended to celebrate Mary not only as the mother of Jesus, but also as a fundamental figure in the church.

Francis hoped the feast day would “encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety.”

The Catholic Church already has a liturgical celebration honoring Mary as the “Mother of the Church” that began in 1975. Pushing his version of ‘Mary’ is something Pope Francis has been doing for years. It is part of his ecumenical, interfaith, and European agendas.

Revelation 17:12-13).  Biblical as well as Catholic prophecy suggest that signs and enchantments from one called a “virgin” and “Lady” will happen at the time of the end (cf. Isaiah 47).

As far as the comment in the Vatican News that Mary will “take back” the EU, notice the following:

R. Gerald Culleton (20th century): During the reign of the Great Monarch and the Angelic Pastor the Catholic Church will spread throughout the world, conversions will be innumerable…The Blessed Virgin will be the chief one in gaining victory over all heresy…

Blessed Hieronymus Agathaghelos (1279): The Angel, Mary and John, along with the great and first among martyrs…will intercede.

Anna-Katrina Emmerick (July 12, 1820): When the Mass had ended, Mary came up to Henry (the Emperor), and she extended her right hand towards him, saying that it was in recognition of his purity. Then, she urged him not to falter…

Catholic writer Yves Dupont (20th century): Henry is the Great Monarch…The Blessed Virgin urges him not to falter.

Saint Louis de Montfort (18th century): These great souls…shall be singularly devouted to our Blessed Lady, illuminated by her nourishment, led by her spirit, supported by her arm, and sheltered under her protection, so that they shall fight in one hand and build with the other. With the one hand they shall fight, overthrow and crush the heretics with their heresies, the schismatics with their schisms…

The Ecstatic of Tours: …the French people will… implore the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Immaculate…The French people will ask for the good King…this King…will ascend to the throne; he will free the church and reassert the Pope’s rights…

Sister Marie Lataste (died 1847): Peace shall return to the world because of Blessed Virgin Mary will breathe over the storms and quell them.

Pope Pius IX (died 1878): We expect that the Immaculate Virgin…will gain in influence from day to day among all nations and in all places, prosper and rule from ocean to ocean…to the ends of the earth…there will be one fold and one shepherd. (Thiel B. Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions, 2nd edition. 2012, pp. 204-205)

The “Great Monarch” according to Catholic mystics will be the final emperor of Europe, and according to various Catholic mystics, “Mary” will assist him in his objectives–including helping get Europeans (and others) to accept a more ecumenical form of Catholicism. The heretics that the Marian apparitions are prophesied to crush include, in my view, true Christians–none of whom will want to be involved in praising false apparitions.

And Pope Francis is trying to push more Marianism.

There will be much more involving what is and will be claimed to be “Mary” and Europe than most, even in Europe, realize. Notice also the following:

The Father wants the world to recognize His handmaid…My sign is about to appear. God wills it…I cannot reveal my power to the world as yet… Then I will be able to reveal myself…Pray and sacrifice through me!…I will impose crosses on my children that will be as heavy and as deep as the sea.

Notice that this apparition is claiming that in a future time, she will become known to the world (and that she wants sacrifices through herself, apparently for her glory). (Thiel B. Fatima Shock! Presuming that apparitions claiming to be Mary will become publicly seen (as opposed to by a few individuals), this will likely deceive many (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12; Matthew 24:24), and may lead to stronger temporary unity in Europe.

Pope Francis and the Vatican continue to promote ‘Mary.’ The European Union is also doing it, though many do not realize that.

Despite complaints, problems, and disunity in Europe, Europe will fulfill its biblically-prophesied role (cf. Daniel 2:41-43) and with the involvement of a claimed “virgin” (Isaiah 47) that really is a harlot (Revelation 17 & 18) is expected. And that will not bode well for the UK, USA, or their Anglo-allies (Daniel 11:39), nor ultimately the Europeans.

US President Donald Trump considers that the European Union is a foe:

President Trump has said he considers the European Union a “foe” of the United States.

He made the comment after CBS News’ Jeff Glor asked him in an interview: “Who is your biggest competitor? Your biggest foe globally right now?”

“Well I think we have a lot of foes,” Trump responded. “I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade. Now you wouldn’t think of the European Union but they’re a foe.”

“Russia is a foe in certain respects,” he added. “China is a foe economically, certainly they are a foe. But that doesn’t mean they are bad. It doesn’t mean anything. It means that they are competitive. The United States may be Germany’s No. 1 ally, but two-thirds of Germans think that the US president is more dangerous than his Russian counterpart. …

When asked which world leader was the greater threat to world security, 64 percent of respondents chose US President Donald Trump over his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. That’s according to a YouGov poll published on the eve of Trump’s meeting with Putin in Helsinki.

And the German antipathy for Trump doesn’t end there: 56 percent of respondents thought that Putin was more competent than Trump, with only 5 percent preferring the latter on that score. Thirty-six percent of Germans find Putin more likable than Trump, while 6 percent say the opposite — although most respondents refused to indicate a preference on that question.

And, perhaps most surprisingly, 44 percent said Putin was more powerful than Trump, compared with only 29 percent who thought the US president has more power.  …

The distrust of Trump’s motivations and leadership capabilities is apparent in how Germans see the United States as a whole. In a YouGov poll published earlier in July, Germans were asked whether they had a generally positive or negative view of the United States. Not much confidence in Trump

Respondents in US allies such as Japan, South Korea and seven European NATO members – Greece, Germany, Turkey, Hungary, France, Italy and Spain – which have historically relied on the US for military support and defense, all expressed more confidence in Putin.

One reason for this may be the erratic comments Trump has made on world issues since he entered office in January – questioning the validity and effectiveness of NATO, delaying affirmation of the alliance’s mutual defense pact, and accusing members of not pulling their weight.

The disparity in favor of Putin over Trump was most stark in Greece and Germany, where he outscored the US president by 31 and 14 points, respectively. In Germany, around a quarter of respondents said they had confidence in Putin, while only 11 percent said the same of Trump. …

Russia – a threat?

The above news post also had a link to a video titled “Trump: Nightmare for Europe?” So, I watched that video. Some consider that Donald Trump is a “loose canon” that makes claims, but “he doesn’t know anything.” Furthermore, “Trump doesn’t know anything about Europe.” Some believe that Donald Trump is presenting Europe with strong reasons to unite. It was stated that Donald Trump is just the face of many Americans who want US dominance of economics and other matters above Europe. At the end of the video one said Donald Trump was a nightmare, one said he was not sure, and another said he was not a nightmare as he would lead to greater unity in Europe.

Biblically, European unity will be a nightmare (cf. Revelation 13; Matthew 24:21-22; Daniel 11:39-44).

The Bible shows that, despite having problems of unity, Europe will reorganize and unite:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

Donald Trump has been a factor in getting Europe to more seriously consider greater unity.

But it is not just actions/statements by Donald Trump.

The reimplementing of sanctions against Iran, as well as tariff matters, are driving Russia and Europe closer together, not farther apart, as was supposedly the intent.

Trump demands that the Europeans, and especially the Germans, take on much more responsibility for their defense, yet many of the Americans whom German officials consult with regularly assure them that the United States still wants Germany to act as part of a broader Europe, not as its own power player, according to German officials who spoke to me on the condition of anonymity. Does Trump really want Berlin to be noisier and more independent? Or does he just have contempt for Merkel? …

She is, in many ways, the anti-Trump.

Merkel, like her mentor Helmut Kohl, understood in her gut that Germany’s success on the world stage depended on maintaining a certain reticence — on not scaring people, as she told me in a 1991 interview. She knew that by acting through the European Union and NATO, Germany could boost its role as Europe’s economic engine without seeming threatening.

Successive U.S. administrations encouraged that use of international alliances to guard against any new German extremism and to keep the Germans facing West. They welcomed Berlin’s integration into the West, its unification with Europe, a purposeful denial of its own identity. Europe would be the cause, rather than Germany. …

In the years after unification, Germany’s most vital alliances remained with the United States and France, yet Kohl, chancellor from 1982 to 1998, also spoke of a “relationship of the soul between Russians and Germans.” …

Germany will maintain itself in Europe, but is still interested in ties with Russia.

As regular readers of this page are aware, Bible prophecy identifies the ancient ancestors of the Russians to be traders in the future with the Europeans:

12 “Tarshish was your merchant because of your many luxury goods. They gave you silver, iron, tin, and lead for your goods. 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14 Those from the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses, steeds, and mules. (Ezekiel 27:12-14)

Today, Europe supplies “many luxury goods” and Russia is a major trader of commodities such as oil and gold. It also exports copper, which is the major component of bronze. More on the origins of the Russians can be found in the article: Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future.

The Bible says that all trading nations will have become wealthy trading with Babylon (the restored German-dominated European Empire–not Asia–but one who will trade with Europe):

3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury (Revelation 18:3).

Thus, Russia is prophesied to attain wealth from the coming restored European Empire, but it will not then be the most powerful block of nations in the world.

Consider also that back in January 2015, German Chancellor Merkel proposed discussing a European Union/Eurasian trade zone (see Merkel’s European-Eurasian Trade Zone Proposal). Germany often dominates the European Union, whereas Russia does dominate the Eurasian Union.

Because of various actions and statements by Donald Trump, they both seem more motivated to work closer together.

The Europeans and Russians have been openly discussing ideas, for years, to cut the United States out. Donald Trump has been giving the Europeans more reasons to work with Russia against the USA.

Germany’s Adolf Hitler and the then Soviet Union’s Joseph Stalin made a deal together which helped pave the way for World War II. The time will come when the Europeans and states in North Africa and the Middle East make a deal paving the way for World War III (WWIII) such as is described in Psalm 83. It is also likely that the Russians and others in Asia will also make some type of deal with the Europeans related to WWIII.

The end of the United States is coming according to biblical prophecy (e.g. Daniel 11:39; USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses). And later, so also will the cooperation between the Europeans and Russians end, according to biblical prophecy (e.g. Jeremiah 50:41-43).

Europe itself will unite. This latest German poll shows supports the view that distrust of Donald Trump is helping to push them further away from the USA.

The New Throne of David, a book by Gerald Flurry of the Philadelphia Church of God (PCG), claims that Gerald Flurry is the new king and that the cave of Adullam is a place of safety.

Gerald Flurry wrote:

Look again at the prophecy in Isaiah 16 about the place of safety during the Great Tribulation. It says God’s people are outcasts, protected among the rocky crags and caves of a fortress in the wilderness (verses 1-4).

Verse 5 reads, “And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.” In the place of safety, there is a “he”—a man—sitting on the throne of David—in a tabernacle, which is a temporary dwelling. This is a man who understands and believes the truth of God, who is “judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness,” really moving things along in establishing God’s righteousness.

Could this king be someone outside God’s one true Church? That would be impossible. This king is speaking the truth and hasting righteousness, so it must be a converted member in God’s Church.

God has to have a king in this Church who is a descendant of David. And we also must have a stone that is a symbol of David’s throne. God has given us a new stone. The stone is always associated with the throne—not only as a symbol of the throne, but also a symbol of our Rock, our Leader, Jesus Christ!

It was right around January 16, 2017, that God revealed the truth about the new stone of destiny.

And it was on this date that God moved the throne of David to this Church!

God is getting us ready to go to the place of safety where David’s throne is prophesied to be. There is a new king and a new stone. There has to be for this prophecy to be fulfilled! And this new king would have to be God’s apostle, at least for this time.

The prayer rock, the new symbol of David’s throne, also came to us through a descendant of David, Herbert W. Armstrong. And it all happened around January 16, 2017, the anniversary of his death.

God made all these things happen miraculously. This is all prophesied, and God has brought it about in a way that is truly mind-staggering when you think about it. …

Micah 1:9 says, “For her wound is incurable ….” This is a time when the nations of Israel are sick with an incurable wound—a life-threatening condition that cannot be healed! Their only hope is to go through the holocaust of the Tribulation.

“Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee” (verse 16). Here is a descriptive warning of what is about to come upon national Israel. Think of the symbol of the United States, the bald eagle. God says the baldness of Israel is going to be enlarged as its people go into captivity! During the Great Tribulation, they will suffer as never before!

Now—what will happen to God’s people during that time? Verse 15 says, “Yet will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come unto Adullam the glory of Israel.” This translation is a little awkward. The word Mareshah means summit, or chief place. And the New King James Version reads: “… The glory of Israel shall come to Adullam.”

Where is Adullam? This was the cave to which David escaped when he was on the run from King Saul (1 Samuel 22:1). Remember, Micah is an end-time book. Here is a prophecy of a time when “the glory of Israel” will come to a cave, or rocky fortress. The Cambridge Bible Commentary says it is “the worthy part of Israel” that goes to Adullam. The Soncino commentary says, “[T]he phrase means that Israel’s nobility will take refuge in a cave” (emphasis mine throughout). Who are the nobility of israel? They are the people who have the throne of David!

They are spiritual Israel, or God’s true Church.

God considers these people worthy to take responsibility for David’s throne. That is a lot of responsibility! But these people are God’s nobility! What greater nobility is there than having David’s throne?

David escaped to the cave of Adullam along with several hundred people. Prophecy shows that, in the end time, God’s people will have to escape to a cave as well. They will go to a rocky fortress to escape the Holy Roman Empire, which has been chasing them for centuries! The Church had to flee into the wilderness for 1,260 years (Revelation 12:6—described prophetically as “days”). Now, we will have to flee for 1,260 days (verse 14). When we do, we will take with us the throne of David.

We must be prepared to go to the cave of Adullam, the place of safety. Make this a part of your thinking, because we live in the most urgent time ever! Well, as my article long has pointed out, the idea that Gerald Flurry considered himself King was not something that first happened in 2017.

In the July/August 2000 edition of Royal Vision, Gerald Flurry specifically calls or refers to himself the following variety of titles, including king (listed in the order they occur in that issue): that prophet, the last voice, a third voice, the physical head of God’s work, the last and final voice, a prophet, God’s man, one that was prophesied by Jeremiah and Ezekiel, this watchman, end-time watchman, a prophet to the nations, Christ’s man, a breaker, a modern type of Micah, this king, this counselor, the breaker whom God has chosen, God’s watchman, prophesied by Habakkuk, a lawgiver, His lawgiver, God’s leader, an end-time Malachi-type prophet, the one who fulfills Zechariah’s role in the end-time, ruler over His household, a type of Elisha, the conduit, God’s true prophet, the voice, that voice, type of Joel, a preacher of righteousness, this man (of God), an end-time Obadiah, a warrior for God, the one God actually wants us to focus on, and only a messenger–at least one of those titles he is taking refers to Jesus. The titles of the articles, all of which were written by Gerald Flurry were (in order of appearance, all CAPS from G. Flurry), THAT PROPHET PART ONE: WHO IS ‘THAT PROPHET’?, THAT PROPHET PART TWO: A NEW THING, THAT PROPHET PART THREE: GOD’S WATCHMAN, THAT PROPHET PART FOUR: THE THRONE AND LAWGIVER, GOD’S COMMAND, ZECHARIAH’S FLYING SCROLL, THAT PROPHET PART FIVE: THE ELISHA WORK, and THAT PROPHET PART SIX: THE VOICE OF THE DAY OF THE LORD. He also calls PCG “God’s greatest gift” (p.12).

In 2009, Gerald Flurry wrote that he considers himself to be a king who may sit on the ‘stone of destiny’:

“THE THRONE.” This says that THE THRONE will be established in addition to the tabernacle. What THRONE is this talking about? David’s throne! The same throne that Jeremiah 33:17 says will always be occupied!
This is the only throne on Earth that will last forever!

As we cover in our booklet the Key of David, the throne of David is in Britain today. For millennia, the kings and queens who have been crowned on that throne have done so over Jacob’s pillar stone, also called “the stone of destiny.”

How could that throne be ESTABLISHED in the context of Isaiah 16? ONLY THE STONE OF DESTINY COULD FIRMLY ESTABLISH THE THRONE OF DAVID!

IS ISAIAH 16 TELLING US THAT GOD WILL SOMEHOW GIVE US THAT STONE WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE GO TO THE PLACE OF SAFETY? After all, we are going to be sharing that throne with Christ in a matter of just a few years!

THE STONE OF DESTINY IS REALLY THE SYMBOL OF DAVID’S THRONE…There is much here we don’t know, but the context seems to imply that the “he” who “shall sit upon” that throne is a man from this Church.

As I point out in Who Is “That Prophet”?, Micah 2:13 refers to the office Christ has given me as that of “their king.” That couldn’t be referring to Christ, because the same verse separately mentions “the LORD.” The word king in that verse means the leader, or one in charge—but the word king is appropriate. So, Gerald Flurry has long considered himself that king.

Now, what about his view that the cave of Adullam must be the place of safety?

While I am not convinced that it MUST be, there is only the remotest of chance that it actually could be.

As I have written for years, the place of safety in the wilderness (Revelation 12:14-16) that the real Philadelphian Christian remnant will be protected (and unless people repent, this will NOT include people still in PCG), does NOT need to be in Petra (see There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Near Petra).

But because the cave of Adullam is in the land considered the territory of the nation of Israel (though there are Palestinian claims), scripture suggests that it cannot be.

Scriptures point to a Jordanian location (the cave of Adullam was once part of Jordan), but they mainly seem to point southeast of Jerusalem–in modern day Jordan. The cave of Adullam is basically southwest in Israeli territory.

Despite claiming that the king would sit on the ‘stone of destiny,’ Gerald Flurry later decided that the stone of destiny was replaced by a prayer rock.

Stone of Destiny and Jesus’ Return

Do you realize that when Jesus returns, He will take up the throne of David? Could there be a throne, or part of that throne, on the earth today? What about the ‘Stone of Scone,’ also called the ‘Stone of Destiny’? What does the Bible teach about the throne of David? Where was it after 586 A.D.? Getting specifically back to PCG itself, it has certain unique doctrines, and I am not of the view that its founder is truly part of the Church of God. Gerald Flurry is not the new king Philadelphian Christians should follow.

Just calling oneself or a church ‘Philadelphian’ (or owning artifacts) does not make that church part of the Philadelphia Church Era (see Revelation 3:7-9).

I believe that those still with PCG are allowing themselves to be deceived.

The Europeans are looking to replace the American dominated empire and Donald Trump has pushed them to do that quicker than they may have intended.

The Europeans have been raising their military spending and one day the USA will not be able to maintain its global hegemony (dominance). The end of the American empire is coming.

Do you have the nagging sense that our empire is in decline?

If so, don’t be embarrassed by it. Historically speaking, we’re in very good company. Far larger and longer-lived empires than ours have come and gone over the millennia. … (we live in Massachusetts, USA) …

History ebbs and it flows. Back and forth. Victors and losers swapping places over and over again. …

Our world is caught up entirely in money, and power, and wars, and force. We revere power over rather than power within.

So the questions I’d like to leave you with are these.

• Where do you have beauty in your life? Do you consciously manifest it?
• What do you revere?
• How honorable are you?
• Do you instill a sense of loyalty in those around you? …

Finally, are you ready for the massive changes that are coming?

Our Empire Of Debt

The lessons of history are absolute; nothing lasts. Everything changes, especially who’s in charge.

So what are our explanations today that keep us all in line? What keeps us from revolt? To what do we bow our daily collective heads in fealty to?

The answer is Money.

What we call “money” today was a wicked genius invention that popped up right around the same moment in history when humans were working out other keen, life-altering inventions such as clocks, and printing presses.

No wonder the foreign ministers of 12 nations in the Americas who pledged this week in Peru not to recognize Venezuela’s new constituent assembly — a remarkable regional diplomatic achievement — chose to keep the U.S. mostly out of it. …

Every hegemon has a sell-by date, and the U.S. is no exception. Even during the halcyon days of the 1990s — remember when the U.S. was being called a “hyperpower”? — President Bill Clinton’s administration was focused on creating institutions and a rules-based international order that it hoped would constrain China’s economic and strategic rise and extend the half-life of U.S. supremacy. The new power bases are China, India and the technology disrupters themselves. To form a new world order, China has initiated the most significant economic projects, including One-Belt, One-Road initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Similarly, the Eurasian Economic Union project is one of Russia’s biggest economic deals. The People’s Republic of China is setting out to create a new world order.

A new economic order less dependent on the United States and Western Europe.

An economy centred instead on China and more than 60 nearby trading-partner nations in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

China, we were told, wants the Ontario Sault’s business community to help make this happen.

“They’re trying to change the world order, because as we know now it’s owned by the U.S. and Europe,” said Johnny So, president of the Chinese Investment and Business Alliance of Canada (CIBAC). “They want to join the economic powers using their technology,” So said. 08/11/17 https://www.sootoday.com/local-news/china-seeks-saults-help-with-new-world-order-686218

Since around 1800, the world order has been dominated by the British and the Americans. In the 21st century, part of the objective of the European Union, BRICS, EAEU, SCO, and Silk Road arrangements is to establish a new world order (SCO, EAEU, and BRICS defining a ‘new world order’?)–an order no longer dominated by the USA and its Anglo-Saxon allies, like the UK.

The European Union is upset that the UK is leaving it, is upset with US President Trump, has threatened actions against the USA for intended sanctions against Russia (see Brussels to act ‘within days’ if US sanctions hurt EU trade with Russia – internal memo), and it would like to cooperate more with the Eurasian Economic Union. So, a coordination of Gentile powers against the Anglo-Americans is occurring. Even Bloomberg is seeing this.

Other nations have realized that and began to take steps (e.g. Munich Security Report concludes USA is in decline and Europe must rise up militarily and Decline of USA being noticed by more as Eurasians take steps and CBS: ‘For most Americans, income is on the decline’).

Morally, the USA has major problems (e.g. see California AB 2943 has the potential to ban Bibles and Congressman says religion must evolve and Pornography: A scourge on society and Abortion, the Bible, and a Woman’s Right to Choose).

Yes, there will be a world war (see World War III: Steps in Progress).

And yes, debt will be a factor of the taking over of the USA according to biblical prophecies like the following:

6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’?

7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty.

8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:6-8)

Now, I would like to focus on some other aspects of that End of Empire article.

Who do you revere?

Hopefully, the God of the Bible.

Many people focus on outward appearance, but the New Testament teaches Christians:

6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:6-7)

4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward–arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel– 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. (1 Peter 3:3-4)

As far as the USA’s empire goes, it will not endure for too many more years.

Oh yes, there could be delays:

27 Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.” (Daniel 4:27)

But can anyone realistically believe that the USA is really going to break off its sins?

Notice something the word of God says:

14 They did not cry out to Me with their heart When they wailed upon their beds. “They assemble together for grain and new wine, They rebel against Me;

15 Though I disciplined and strengthened their arms, Yet they devise evil against Me;

16 They return, but not to the Most High; They are like a treacherous bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword For the cursings of their tongue. (Hosea 7:14-16).

Without national repentance, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are doomed.

The Anglo-nations need national repentance. God would listen if those nations would repent:

13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:13-15)

Notice that lack of repentance is listed as a reason that the King of Assyria (the final King of the North) will become Ephraim’s king:

3 I taught Ephraim to walk…5…But the Assyrian shall be his king, Because they refused to repent. 6 And the sword shall slash in his cities, Devour his districts, And consume them, Because of their own counsels. 7 My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him. (Hosea 11:3a, 5b-7)

The prophesied shame is starting to come upon the Anglo-American powers. Without repentance, increased pride is occurring, and this will be followed by the prophesied destruction of the Anglo-nations. And yes, other nations have their sins, but they will be punished later–But you personally can and SHOULD repent.

Individually, and nationally, repentance is needed:

20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. 23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live? (Ezekiel 18:20-23)

30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” (Ezekiel 18:30-32)

Your Bible says many people have made an OUTWARD show of returning to Him or repenting, but they haven’t done it WITH THEIR HEARTS! Ephraim’s repentance, and for that matter, that of the rest of the world, is the outward, superficial, WORLDLY REPENTANCE with no real sincerity or DEEP feeling.

Christians need to have “repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21).

Again, let’s look at Acts 2:

36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:36-39)

How are end time Christians described?

12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. (Revelation 14:11-12)

Real Christians keep God’s commandments (see also Revelation 12:17). Salvation requires obedience as lawlessness is not to be an option (Matthew 7:20-21). Therefore one needs to stop ones old ways and begin obeying God — this requires repentance!

Notice what the Apostle John wrote:

18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:18)

True repentance is not just an outward confession. True repentance is toward God the Father (Acts 26:20), who is the author of His law and against whom our sins are directed. Such repentance goes far beyond a mere outward verbal expression of belief, and even far beyond a few mechanical changes in behavior (see also Christians: Ambassadors for the Kingdom of God, Biblical instructions on living as a Christian). It pierces deep into the heart and mind of the person, and embodies an unconditional surrender from living one’s own way to truly living God’s way of life.

Does it require putting Christ above all else in one’s life?

26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it — 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. (Luke 14:26-33)

Does it require, in a symbolic sense, sacrificing your own life?

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

If you will do that, Jesus promises you will have what you really need:

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:31-34)

We need to seek God’s kingdom first every day (see also Gospel of the Kingdom of God).

The USA is in decline. And its Anglo-Saxon descended allies will not survive as they have without it.

While the Europeans have been friends of the USA, and many do not want conflict with the USA, the USA will be destroyed by friends who did not think they intended such destruction according to Bible prophecy:

5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hand is My indignation. 6 I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Yet he does not mean so, Nor does his heart think so; But it is in his heart to destroy, And cut off not a few nations. 8 For he says, ‘Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus? 10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria, 11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols, Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?’” (Isaiah 10:5-11)

1″> How lonely sits the city That was full of people! How like a widow is she, Who was great among the nations! The princess among the provinces Has become a slave! 2 She weeps bitterly in the night, Her tears are on her cheeks; Among all her lovers She has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; They have become her enemies. (Lamentations 1:1-2)

That will be the end of NATO and the USA. Modern Assyria is central Europe (see Germany’s Assyrian Roots Throughout History and Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

For those that think that the USA will not be defeated, understand that Daniel 11:39 shows that a European power will destroy the ‘strongest fortresses’–which in the 21st century belong to the USA, this shows that the USA will be defeated, despite its military strength (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

The Bible teaches that despite its apparent and real divisions, Europe will reorganize, unite, and become a military power called the ‘beast’:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:1-4)

This reorganization of Europe will NOT turn out well for the USA nor it Anglo-Saxon descended allies (cf. Daniel 8:25; 11:39; USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

Donald Trump does not seem to appreciate or understand the biblical prophecies related to the USA and Europe. He is inadvertently taking steps that will lead to the fulfillment of biblical prophecies.

Of course, some look at NATO and how disproportionately the USA spends to support it and consider that this means that the USA is so powerful that other NATO nations could never destroy it. But the USA wants to spend less on its military and wants Europe to spend more.

The Europeans will take more steps to separate themselves from the USA. This does not mean that NATO must be totally abandoned. I have felt for decades that the Europeans would likely attack the USA deceptively under the guise of a NATO or similar exercise, and probably will have ground assistance from Mexico, a nation that Donald Trump has repeatedly offended. Donald Trump, in my view, has confirmed this by threatening NATO if the Europeans do not fund more of it, while then saying he is 100% in support of NATO.

Once Europe spends more on its military and gets certain technologies, it will expect more control of military matters and will one day decide it no longer needs NOR WANTS the USA to be around. And according to biblical prophecies, a power from Europe will takeover the USA militarily (see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

When you spend more for something yourself, you want more control. And Europe will end up wanting more than most in the USA can imagine.

The American empire will be replaced by a new Babylonian one dominated by Europe.

Nearly Quarter of Americans Carry Lucky Charms

Nearly one in four Americans carries a good luck charm at least occasionally, according to a new survey.

According to a YouGov poll, seven percent of Americans carry a lucky charm every day, four percent said they carry one frequently, and 13 percent said they carry one occasionally.  Seventy percent said they don’t carry a charm.

A lucky charm could be a shirt, a pair of shoes, a coin, a bracelet or a piece of ribbon. In fact, at the World Cup, star Lionel Messi tied a ribbon given to him by a fan around his ankle.

According to Elle magazine, actress Cameron Diaz wears a lucky necklace, as does Lindsay Lohan. Actor Benicio Del Toro is reported to have a lucky ring.

So the above is talking about 80 million Americans.

However, if you include religious icons like crosses, the amount of Americans who carry ‘good luck charms’ is much higher. Plus, various tattoos are considered to be ‘good luck.’

Back in 1971, the old Worldwide Church of God published the following about the occult, superstitions, and good luck charms:

Traditional Christianity is being abandoned for other forms of “worship.” Oriental religions, witchcraft, the occult, so-called Christian “sects,” and outright paganism have drawn thousands from the mainstream churches. WHY are people turning to the mystical in an age priding itself on scientific and material knowledge? …

Witchcraft is only one of many new forms of “worship” attracting thousands of new converts each year. Astrology, spiritism, occultism, Ouija boards (they have outsold Monopoly sets), Tarot cards, and other associated items are big business. …

There are approximately 2,000 active secret sects in France, which include the “onionists” (God is shaped like an onion), the navel worshippers, and the Druids (Druids are also in England and have an annual festival at Stonehenge). One report estimates the French spend about 1,000 million francs ($200 million) a year in consulting 60,000 sorcerers.

Germany is the traditional land of witches, spells and hexes. According to the German Medical Information Service, 10,000 people are engaged in witchcraft there. Charges of witchcraft often come up in court.
In the United States there are those who actually claim to be practicing “Satanists.” …

It is estimated that at least 5 million Americans plan their lives by the stars. This naturally does not include the additional millions who consult their daily horoscope out of curiosity or buy zodiac-decorated items ranging from drinking glasses to silk pajamas. There is enough business to keep 10,000 full-time and 175,000 part-time astrologers on the go.

More than two thirds of the daily newspapers in the United States carry astrology columns. …

For the millions who would not associate themselves with any of the aforementioned “cults,” there is still widespread superstition, often just an offshoot of astrology, witchcraft, or the occult.

According to one estimate, there are 20 million people in the United States alone who actually carry with them a rabbit’s foot or other good-luck charms. This does not include millions more who cross their fingers, knock on wood, cower before black cats, throw salt on their shoulder, or experience triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13). …

People are dissatisfied with our materialistic society. They are equally disenchanted with the standard-brand churches which seem to give no alternative to the secular world. In their frustration to find a power beyond themselves, they seem to feel the only other path open is mysticism and the psychic.

One of the major causes for the collapse of Rome was the decay of religion from the status of moral judge and champion to a hollow shell of ritual and liturgy. In desperation, people turned to astrology, sorcery, and divination, the natural refuge in a time of confusion and collapse. (Grabbe LL. The New Fad: MYSTICISM and the OCCULT. The amount of superstitious Americans has seemingly increased over the decades.

Good luck charms are a form of idolatry.

They bring to mind something that the prophet Jeremiah wrote:

5 Like scarecrows in a cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them for they can do no harm–and they cannot do any good. (Jeremiah 10:5, CSB)

Good luck charms do not physically harm one, but they are spiritually bad.

Consider also some of what the Apostle John wrote:

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols (I John 5:21).

8 But …idolaters…shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).

Many think there is nothing wrong with carrying a good luck charm.

But notice also the following:

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (Reve3lation 22:14-15)

Idolatry is a lie.

Good luck charms are a form of idolatry and idolaters are not among those who will inherit the Kingdom of God, unless they repent–which they can (see Christian Repentance and Universal Offer of Salvation: There Are Hundreds of Verses in the Bible Supporting the Doctrine of True Apocatastasis).

President Trump said U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May is “doing a fantastic job” as British prime minister, and even said he apologized to her Friday morning before their meeting, after an interview published Thursday highlighted his criticism of her handling of Brexit.

“I think she’s a terrific woman,” he told reporters at a joint press conference Friday at the country estate of the prime minister, Chequers. There has long been a ‘special relationship’ between the USA and UK (cf. Genesis 48; watch also Fraternal Relationship between the USA & UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand?). The descendants of the UK dominate not only the UK, but nations such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand today.

Shortly after taking office, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the USA and Canada were “siblings” at a state dinner (see Justin Trudeau: USA and Canada are ‘siblings’; Barack Obama straining ‘special relationship’ with UK). Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau probably does not fully understand how the USA and Canada actually are siblings–it is not because of a shared border–but because their ancestors were brothers. But his observation is consistent with scripture.

Even former US President Barack Obama stated that the UK was a “blood brother” of the USA (see USA’s Obama reportedly calls UK ‘blood brother’ and urges pro-EU vote; London’s Johnson calls him perverse and Kenyan).

The Bible tells of two siblings, the brothers Ephraim and Manasseh, who were the sons of Joseph. And they received blessings from Joseph’s father Jacob, whose name was changed by God to Israel:

13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him. 14 Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn. 15 And he blessed Joseph, and said:

“God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has fed me all my life long to this day, 16 The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them…(Genesis 48:13-16).

Because of this, sometimes when the Bible uses the term ‘Israel’ it can be referring to the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh, and they include the Anglo-nations. Ephraim is the progenitor of the British people, which includes the Anglo-Saxons of the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Manasseh the progenitor of the USA, also sometimes referred to in prophecy as Samaria–like ancient Samaria, the USA is quite a mix of peoples. The USA and the UK-descended peoples are brothers in the sense that their main progenitors were actual brothers (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

So, Winston Churchill said that this was a special fraternal relationship–a relationship of brothers.

Winston Churchill was right that the USA and UK have a special relationship, Barack Obama was right about the UK being a blood brother of the USA, and Justin Trudeau was right that the USA and Canada are siblings. Since World War II, the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have closely cooperated in international espionage. They have been referred to as the “five eyes” essentially meaning that all five of those nations see and share what they see. This was basically confirmed by something that came out because of the Snowden leaks. It is only the Anglo-descended nations that the USA has specifically exempted from”spy attacks”:

An NSA document from 2010 made clear that only the Anglo-nations are trusted and close friends. European leaders do not like this and will long remember this.

Back in 2013, the Council on Foreign Relations had the following at its site related to the Snowden leaks and US espionage:

“The damage is hard to overstate. This is not just the US bugging a head of government who happens to be a close ally and Europe’s pivotal leader. She also grew up under the German Democratic Republic and the surveillance of the Stasi secret police. She is right to regard this revelation as a serious breach of trust,” writes the Financial Times in an editorial.

“There is much talk today about the risks of a new era of American isolationism and a lack of U.S. leadership in the world. It is important to remember that isolationism can be triggered not only by a potential retreat from global affairs, but also by the rather imprudent use of America’s hard and soft power on the world stage,” writes Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg for Project Syndicate.

“We are not reassured by the often-heard explanation that everyone spies on everyone else all the time. The espionage scandal involving the USA hurt then and will hurt it more in the future. What many Europeans want is that the USA will treat them the same way they treat the Anglo-nations:

The United Kingdom – United States of America Agreement (UKUSA,…is a multilateral agreement for cooperation in signals intelligence between the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The alliance of intelligence operations is also known as Five Eyes (FVEY). (Wikipedia, viewed 10/19/2013)

But continental Europe is distant for the USA and UK. The Brexit vote and the rise of Donald Trump have further increased the distance between the UK/USA and the rest of Europe.

This is also serving to drive the USA and UK closer together.

Donald Trump was the most influential leader outside of the UK that backed the Brexit vote. Donald Trump wants to see the EU break-apart. Donald Trump wants to change international trade in ways that the EU does not want. Donald Trump’s military comments, foreign policies, and other statements have helped push the EU closer together, as well as led the Europeans to decide that they need to better arm themselves. What happened this week related to NATO (see Donald Trump, Europe, and NATO and Donald Trump declares victory with NATO, but . . .) confirms what I have long been saying about this.

It is the UK that voted to leave the EU. The EU wanted the UK to stay. The EU pleaded with the UK to stay. To try to prevent departure, the EU tried to change various rules to get the UK to stay, but the UK voted to leave.

The EU is now angry at the UK and the USA. The EU wants to punish the UK for Brexit as it does not want any other nation to pull out of the EU.

These factors and more are driving the UK and USA to look more towards each other and less towards Europe. While the EU is not considered to be a common enemy of the USA/UK in a current military sense, both the USA and UK are treating the EU as a potential economic enemy.

This should not be a surprise to long-term readers of this page. Notice something I posted here back in 2008:

Negotiations will continue and some type of loose agreements will happen. In the spirit of accommodation and personal interest, many of the “standards” of the European Union will be adopted by the USA, Canada and Mexico, as well as by nearly all of the countries of the world. The Arab nations will most likely agree with many of the standards as they seem to be destined to form a brief end-time alliance with the Europeans (The Arab World In the Bible, History, and Prophecy).

However, over time, it will become increasingly clear that the British will be in more agreement with the Canadians and Americans and that the European Union in more agreement with the Mexicans than the EU will have with the English-speaking nations.

Trade wars and/or serious trade disputes will most likely arise.

The Brits will ultimately decide that they are more supportive of the Americans and Canadians. They will be so much more supportive that they will end up in a trading agreement with them (with the Australians and New Zealanders probably also becoming part of that agreement).

The EU will decide that Mexico and the rest of Latin America are in more agreement with it and thus make some type of serious trading agreement with most (or all) of Latin America. The Vatican will also have influence here as Latin America is highly Roman Catholic.

The fact of Brexit and the EU’s responses to the UK and Donald Trump have been pushing the Brits to conclude that they need to move closer to the USA on trade.

Trade problems were listed as part of my 18 items to prophetically watch in 2018. We also put together a YouTube video recently titled Trade Disputes: CCOG Warnings Are Coming to Pass.

Trade disputes look to be a factor that will lead to World War III.

As far as the long-term relationship between the UK and USA goes, this will last until shortly after the beginning of the Great Tribulation.

A European King of the North will invade and destroy the United States, Great Britain, etc. Herbert W. Armstrong taught that the King of the North Beast (the one mentioned in Daniel 11:40-41 which is the same one who places the abomination mentioned in Daniel 11:31) would destroy the British and American peoples (shortly after he takes power, as in Revelation 17:12-13). Notice some of what he wrote about that in 1979:

The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem (Dan 11:41, Zech. 14:2), will stop this “daily sacrifice”…And the abomination that maketh desolate set up.” What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beasts armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). The Bible teaches that the European King of the North will eliminate the power with the strongest military in the end times (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses)–in the 21st century that would have to be the USA and, to a lesser degree, its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (cf. Isaiah 17:3; Daniel 8:24-25).

The Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21), also called the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), will end, for a time, the ‘special relationship’ between the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand as those nations will not exist as they have been for most of the Great Tribulation.

Until then, yes, expect to see the ‘special relationship’ more or less continue, despite some political issues.

European Powers Prepare To Ditch Dollar In Trade With Iran

While the White House’s frenzied anti-Iran campaign has entailed unprecedented attempts to twist the arms of the United States’ traditional European allies, the pressure may be backfiring – a reality made all the more clear by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s claims that Europe’s three major powers plan to continue trade ties with Iran without the use of the U.S. dollar.

The move would be a clear sign that the foremost European hegemons – France, Germany, and the United Kingdom – plan to protect the interests of companies hoping to do business with Iran, a significant regional power with a market of around 80 million people.

Lavrov’s statement came as Trump insisted that European companies would “absolutely” face sanctions in the aftermath of Washington’s widely-derided sabotage of the six-party Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). …

France, Germany and the U.K. have pleaded with the “America First” president to exempt EU companies, writing a letter to U.S. Secretary-Treasurer Steve Mnuchin and right-wing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that the nuclear accord remains the “best means” to prevent Iran’s acquisition of a nuclear deterrent given the lack of any credible alternative. Given the hard-line stances of Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton, the pleas were likely greeted with bemusement.

The opening salvo or “snap-back” of sanctions hitting Iran’s automotive sector, gold trade, and other industries will hit the country on August 4, while further sanctions will hit the country’s oil industry and central bank on November 6. …

Sanctions have consequences. Looking at getting around the US dollar for trade is something that countries subject to USA sanctions tend to do.

While Europe needs to be more careful than Iran now as it has a lot more ties to the USA, other countries are also looking at ways to deal with sanctions as well as trade issues that are now rising up.

The tiny nation of Kyrgyzstan has big plans. Caught between its giant trading partners, China and Russia, Kyrgyzstan is stockpiling gold. It wants to increase gold from 16 percent to 50 percent as part of its international reserve.

Tolkunbek Abdygulov of the Kyrgyz Central Bank has stated that any currency, whether dollars, rubles, or yuan, has become too vulnerable. The small mountain nation, with a population of 6 million, relies heavily on Russian and Chinese imports. With the possibility of global trades war on the horizon, Kyrgyzstan prefers to protect its financial stability by amassing gold. …

Russia’s central bank has increased its gold reserves to 62 million ounces, at a value of $80.5 billion, in an effort to diversify its reserves in view of possible geopolitical unrest. …

China is another country that would like to see the U.S. dollar replaced on the global financial market. If China were to sell off its $1.18 in U.S. Treasury bonds, it could go a long way in accomplishing that goal.

Russia’s increase in gold holdings has made it a global gold powerhouse. It has triple the gold as a percent of GDP, or 5.6 percent of the world’s available precious metal.

This is a thought-out, long-term plan for Russia, and U.S. trade sanctions are only a part of the picture. With large gold reserves and a relatively small international debt, Russia has positioned itself as a strong global financial force. Officially, Russia and China still do not have enough gold to truly be able to dethrone the USA dollar. But they are taking steps.

They, and many other nations, are looking into ways to bypass the US dollar. Turkey’s President proposed the use of gold instead of the USA dollar to the International Monetary Fund (see Turkey repatriates gold and denounces US dollar dominance). The populous and economic powerhouse China has also taken various financial and other steps (watch also US Dollar being challenged by Gold-Petro-Yuan). There is also movement towards the Euro. Part of the intent of the Euro was to become the world’s dominant reserve currency. And while it is not ready for that yet, the Europeans still expect that to happen.

The sanctions would aim to limit global trade of the oil producer’s crude. The effects may be muted as major Asian importers, China chief among them, are likely to continue buying Iranian oil.

China’s Petro-Yuan Contracts on Steady Rise Amid Renewed US Sanctions on Iran

Washington’s intention to re-impose the “toughest” sanctions on Iran appears to be playing into the hands of Chinese investors and oil futures traders, analysts have come to believe.

Shanghai crude oil futures ISCc1 have recently seen a significant uptick in their trade volumes, which hit a record 250,000 lots last Wednesday, a day after Trump announced the US was withdrawing from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. The eroding of the US dollar’s status in international trade is one of the ‘unintended consequences’ of various USA sanctions.

The contract is thundering into action,” said Stephen Innes, head of trading for Asia/Pacific at futures brokerage OANDA in Singapore, as quoted by Reuters.

“It makes sense for Iran to begin selling oil under contracts denominated in yuan rather than dollars.”

Which could explain why, as The South China Morning Post reports, LME CEO Matthew Chamberlain said in an interview in Hong Kong…

 “At present, investors are trading our products in US dollars. We would definitely like to explore the possibility of launching products denominated in offshore renminbi,”

The statement By ripping up the Iran nuclear deal on May 8 and targeting the Islamic Republic’s energy sector, Donald Trump has unwittingly dealt a blow to the US dollar reminds me that I warned that there would be “unintended consequences” with some of Donald Trump’s policies.

While the Bible does NOT show that China or Russia will be the premier trading nations during the Great Tribulation, the Bible does show that gold will have value during that time:

40 “At the time of the end…43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver (Daniel 11:40,43)

14… And the wealth of all the surrounding nations
Shall be gathered together:
Gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance. (Zechariah 14:14)

12 … merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls … 16 … ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! (Revelation 18:12, 16)

There are no similar statements backing up the future value of paper items, like the US dollar or the British pound (scripture, indirectly, teaches their elimination, for details see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

Daniel 11:24 shows that the European leader mentioned in Daniel 11:40-43 (the King of the North) will somehow also be accumulating wealth prior to this time, and that may involve gold accumulation (cf. Daniel 11:38). Perhaps to back up a European supported currency, he also may end up with personal and/or national gold reserves and/or wealth from the Vatican. The Vatican has a vast amount of wealth and is prophesied to be improperly involved with the kings of the earth in the end times per Revelation 17.

The Bible teaches that in the end time, the highly indebted nation will be taken over (Habakkuk 2:2-8)–no nation is more indebted than the USA–and on a per capita basis, the UK is one of the most indebted. They will be taken over and conquered during the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21; Daniel 11:39; watch also Do these 7 prophesies point to the end of the USA?).

Increased USA debt, combined with gold accumulation by various nations, points to economic disaster in the USA’s future (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8).

The USA dollar, instead of being the world’s premier currency, will be worth no more than the scrap/sentimental value of the cotton-paper its notes are printed on.

We are getting closer to the start of the Great Tribulation (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?) and final time of the Gentiles that Jesus spoke of (Matthew 24:21; Luke 21:24).

Gentile nations are taking steps that the Anglo-American nations will one day regret. The ‘day of reckoning’ will hit the USA.
