Donald Trump has made another funding threat against the World Health Organization:

President Donald Trump threatened to permanently end funding to the World Health Organization and pull out of the international body altogether in a letter blasting its coronavirus response and accusing its head of “political gamesmanship.” …

The Trump administration had also made its displeasure with the WHO known during the organization’s annual meeting Monday. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said the WHO had “failed at its core mission” — and that “in an apparent attempt to conceal this outbreak, at least one member country” ignored its transparency obligations, an apparent reference to China.

Beijing, meanwhile, hewed closer to the WHO and Europe as Chinese President Xi Jinping endorsed the principle of making any vaccine produced in his country globally accessible.

Coronavirus turns Germans more critical of US: survey

In a poll of 1,000 Germans conducted by Kantar Public for the German nonprofit Koerber Foundation, 73% stated that their opinion about the United States had deteriorated due to the current health crisis caused by the novel coronavirus.

This contrasted with 36% of respondents who said their views about China, where the new coronavirus was first detected late last year, had become more negative due to the pandemic. …

The shift in attitudes means that only 37% of Germans still want closer ties with the United States, sharply down from 50% in the last survey conducted in September 2019. This compares with 36% who are in favor of closer ties with China, clearly up from 24% in the previous poll.

‘A worrying trend’

As regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware, the Germans, French, and other Europeans have not been pleased with USA efforts to corner supplies of masks and potential vaccines (see Bare shelves in California: COVID-19 is a warning to wake up. Trump makes the Germans furious. What message may God be sending to end time Christians? and France says ‘unacceptable’ to America first getting COVID-19 vaccine).

German political leaders have accused the USA of twice trying to stop Germany from getting items that are believed to be helpful to deal with the COVID-19 situation. So, it is little wonder that the populous of Germany has turned more against the USA.

Donald Trump is not popular with the Europeans.

Here are some warnings I made that Donald Trump would offend the Europeans BEFORE he was elected:

Should he actually become President of the United States, his flamboyance and brashness are bound to offend the Europeans, and ultimately that will not turn out well for the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39). (Thiel B. Can Donald Trump make America great again? COGwriter, December 20, 2015)

Has he?

Certainly. There are many examples, but here are four: Shadow president or mere shadow? In Europe, Pence seeks to reassure allies unnerved by Trump and G20 concludes with increased tension with the USA; Pope Francis pushes for federal Europe and Angela Merkel again says EU ‘can’t rely’ on USA, FPIF says ‘Europe should bolt NATO’ and Europe concerned about Donald Trump. And now, we have various offenses related to the coronavirus, and even face masks.

The Bible tells of a leader who will arise in Europe.

He will promise peace and safety.

He will be considered the one who can save Europe and the world. The Bible calls him the ‘beast’ (Revelation 13:1-10) and the King of the North (Daniel 11).

And he is prophesied to destroy the power in the world with the strongest military (Daniel 11:39). In the 21st century, that is the USA and to a lessor extent is English-descended allies like the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (a group known as the ‘five eyes’).

Europeans will likely view how the USA kept trying to put its interests above the lives of Europeans as one of several reasons to eliminate the USA.

Do not think that Donald Trump’s ‘America first’ policies and statements will not have serious negative ramifications.

The time will come when the USA is no more.

Will COVID-19 help lead to a new society or kill hopes for a new world order?

COVID 19: Prelude to a New World Order?

Could COVID-19 be a prelude to a better society, a better new world order? Some think so. Will the novel coronavirus kill the ‘New World Order’ that people like Pat Buchanon dread? Anyway, yes the Germans are increasingly upset with Donald Trump and the USA.

Germany will be a leader in the coming destruction of the USA (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said he is taking a malaria drug to protect against the coronavirus, despite warnings from his own government that it should only be administered for COVID-19 in a hospital or research setting due to potentially fatal side effects.

Trump told reporters Monday he has been taking the drug, hydroxychloroquine, and a zinc supplement daily “for about a week and a half now.”

Trump has spent weeks pushing hydroxychloroquine as a potential cure or prophylaxis for COVID-19 against the cautionary advice of many of his administration’s top medical professionals. The drug has the potential to cause significant side effects in some patients and has not been shown to combat the new coronavirus. …

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called Trump’s remarks “dangerous.”

“Maybe he’s really not taking it because the president lies about things characteristically,” Schumer said on MSNBC. He added: “I don’t know whether he is taking it or not. Trump Says He’s Taking Hydroxychloroquine to Prevent Catching Coronavirus

The president explained that he is combining a hydroxychloroquine pill daily with zinc and regularly tests negative for COVID-19.

The drug significantly increases the risk of death for certain patients and has not yet been found effective in treating coronavirus patients in any sizable scientific study, including clinical trials.

The Food and Drug Administration last month issued a warning that hydroxychloroquine should only be dispensed in hospitals because it could cause heart rhythm problems.

There is also no evidence that taking the drug can prevent people from being infected by the novel coronavirus.

“I’m not going to get hurt by it,” Trump asserted. “It’s been around for 40 years — for malaria, for lupus, for other things. I take it. Frontline workers take it. A lot of doctors take it.”

The president said he had asked the White House physician to prescribe the drug for him.

“I’ve been taking it for the last week and a half. A pill every day,” Trump told surprised reporters who had gathered for the president’s roundtable event with restaurant operators. Having gone through several articles from the mainstream media today, none were supportive of what Donald Trump was doing. None of those I saw bothered to mention the science behind what Donald Trump is doing either. Instead they promoted ridicule and fear.

The mainstream could have easily found out that a study that came out back in 2014 showed that chloroquine increased the amount of zinc getting into cells (see Chloroquine is a zinc ionophore.). The mainstream could have also found a paper that came out this month had the following related to hydroxychloroquine and zinc:

The antimalarial drug chloroquine (CQ) and its metabolite hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) are currently being tested in several clinical studies as potential candidates to limit SARS-CoV-2-mediated morbidity and mortality. CQ and HCQ (CQ/HCQ) inhibit pH-dependent steps of SARS-CoV-2 replication by increasing pH in intracellular vesicles and interfere with virus particle delivery into host cells. Besides direct antiviral effects, CQ/HCQ specifically target extracellular zinc to intracellular lysosomes where it interferes with RNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity and coronavirus replication. As zinc deficiency frequently occurs in elderly patients and in those with cardiovascular disease, chronic pulmonary disease, or diabetes, we hypothesize that CQ/HCQ plus zinc supplementation may be more effective in reducing COVID-19 morbidity and mortality than CQ or HCQ in monotherapy. The mainstream media could have reported that or other studies, but instead chose ridicule and fear promotion.

It is not that I am advocating chloroquine, but I do believe that science supports taking zinc, and for some substances that can enhance its absorption. In my own case, I take food zinc along with a food grade methylene blue product to enhance cellular absorption. This does not mean that I cannot get COVID-19, but I most certainly am not afraid of it. I also take food vitamin C, food selenium, food vitamin D, other 100% food nutrients, and nattokinase as part of my regular routine.

As far as zinc goes, here is something I posted on Facebook (which is a media I do not use much) at my company’s page:

“Zn(2+) inhibits coronavirus and arterivirus RNA polymerase activity in vitro and zinc ionophores block the replication of these viruses in cell culture.”

So says the titled of a MEDLine published study (PLoS Pathog. 2010 Nov 4;6(11); https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2973827/) that I saw in a link that someone forwarded to me today.

Here is the abstract from that paper:

“Abstract

Increasing the intracellular Zn(2+) concentration with zinc-ionophores like pyrithione (PT) can efficiently impair the replication of a variety of RNA viruses, including poliovirus and influenza virus. For some viruses this effect has been attributed to interference with viral polyprotein processing. In this study we demonstrate that the combination of Zn(2+) and PT at low concentrations (2 µM Zn(2+) and 2 µM PT) inhibits the replication of SARS-coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and equine arteritis virus (EAV) in cell culture. The RNA synthesis of these two distantly related nidoviruses is catalyzed by an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), which is the core enzyme of their multiprotein replication and transcription complex (RTC). Using an activity assay for RTCs isolated from cells infected with SARS-CoV or EAV–thus eliminating the need for PT to transport Zn(2+) across the plasma membrane–we show that Zn(2+) efficiently inhibits the RNA-synthesizing activity of the RTCs of both viruses. Enzymatic studies using recombinant RdRps (SARS-CoV nsp12 and EAV nsp9) purified from E. coli subsequently revealed that Zn(2+) directly inhibited the in vitro activity of both nidovirus polymerases. More specifically, Zn(2+) was found to block the initiation step of EAV RNA synthesis, whereas in the case of the SARS-CoV RdRp elongation was inhibited and template binding reduced. By chelating Zn(2+) with MgEDTA, the inhibitory effect of the divalent cation could be reversed, which provides a novel experimental tool for in vitro studies of the molecular details of nidovirus replication and transcription.”

Now, that study DID NOT involve the novel coronavirus called COVID-19 as it was not known to exist then. But the paper was of interest.

Anyway, one problem people have with supplemental zinc is that it does not enter the cytoplasm of the cell very well.

Though inorganic mineral salt forms are often used in supplements, researchers acknowledge that organic zinc is better absorbed than inorganic zinc [Shils ME, Olson JA, Shike M. Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease, 8th ed. Lea & Febiger, Phil.,1994; Cunnane SC. Zinc: Clinical and Biochemical Significance. CRC Press, Boca Raton (FL), 1988).

Zinc itself is generally found in the human body attached to a peptide (Ibid). It is often attached to albumin [1,2] or alpha2-macroglobulin or exists as part of one of the many zinc metalloenzymes (Ibid). Zinc is not naturally found in the body in forms such as zinc citrate, zinc chloride, or zinc picolinate. Generally speaking, these two-word descriptions indicate a mineral salt (rock) and not zinc as is found in food.

Nutritional yeast is an excellent source of zinc because, “fermenting organisms produce phytases that break down phytate and increase the amount of absorbable zinc” (Shils ME, et al. Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease, 10th ed. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Balt., 2006:273). Nutritional yeast also contains certain amino acids (Leavening agents, yeast, baker’s, compressed. USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 18, 2005) that enhance the absorption of zinc (Shils, p. 273).

Zinc in yeast-containing foods is better absorbed and is a better form for humans than inorganic forms (Andlid TA, Veide J, Sandberg AS. Metabolism of extracellular inositol hexaphosphate (phytate) by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Int J. Food Microbiology. 2004;97(2):157-169; King JC, Cousins RJ. Zinc. In Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease, 10th ed. Lipponcott Williams & Wilkins, Phil., 2005:271-285).

Since diabetics seem to need zinc, but their deficiencies are refractory to zinc salts (Cunningham JJ. Micronutrients as nutriceutical interventions in diabetes mellitus. J Am Coll Nutr. 1998;17(1):7-10), food forms of zinc should also be a better choice for absorption for this population.

Zinc in foods appears to have a smaller particle size than that which is found in inorganic mineral salts. Nutrition scientists understand that smaller particle size improves bioavailability; the main point of digestion is to get food particles small enough to be absorbed by intestinal villi (Shils; Whitney EN, Hamilton EMN. Understanding Nutrition, 4th ed. West Publishing, NY, 1987). This may partially explain why food zinc is superior to zinc found in inorganic mineral salts. Most zinc is absorbed in the small intestine, with the majority of it believed to be absorbed in the jejunum; only small amounts are believed to be absorbed in the stomach or large intestine.

High zinc-containing foods include pumpkin seeds, forms of yeast (S. cerevisiae), wheat bran, beef, miso, spinach, mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts, brewer’s yeast, turkey, lamb, bean sprouts, tofu, and to a lesser degree in whole wheat bread (Whitney).

Studies led by Dr. J. Vinson of the University of Scranton (PA) indicate that food zinc (as found in specially grown S. cerevisiae) appears to be 1.72-1.75 times more absorbed in the blood than zinc sulfate (1.71 times more than zinc chelate; 6.46 times more than zinc gluconate; 3.11 times more than zinc orotate) and 1.75-1.87 times more retained in the liver than zinc sulfate and is 1.45 times more than zinc amino acid chelate; 3.68 times more than zinc gluconate; 1.50 times more than zinc orotate (Vinson J, Bose P, Lemoine L, Hsiao KH. Bioavailability studies. In Nutrient Availability: Chemical and Biological Aspects. Royal Society of Chemistry, Cambridge (UK) 1989:125-127; Vinson JA, Bose P. Anyway, for better absorption, I have long taken food zinc (from pumpkin seeds and specially grown S. cerevisiae) as a supplement–and currently still do.

Governments around the world, including the USA, have been loath to tell the public that they can do more than hide and wash to help themselves with COVID-19–that is a disgrace that should shame most public health officials (there are a few that have had the integrity to tell some scientific facts about nutrients that can help, like zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, etc.).

Saw the above headline today. I have been urging the government to change its advice related to nutrition and the novel coronavirus for some time.

Facebook posts here have covered vitamin C and zinc. Plus, because of the involvement in blood clots and COVID-19 deaths, nattokinase is something that many who get COVID-19 should consider taking.

Anyway, the vitamin D article (https://scitechdaily.com/vitamin-d-determines-severity-in-…/) had the following:

“Researchers from Trinity College Dublin are calling on the government in Ireland to change recommendations for vitamin D supplements.

“A new publication from Dr. Eamon Laird and Professor Rose Anne Kenny, School of Medicine, and the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), in collaboration with Professor Jon Rhodes at University of Liverpool, highlights the association between vitamin D levels and mortality from COVID-19.

“The authors of the article, just published in the Irish Medical Journal, analyzed all European adult population studies, completed since 1999, which measured vitamin D and compared vitamin D and death rates from COVID-19.

“The correlation between low vitamin D levels and death from COVID-19 is statistically significant.

“The authors propose that, whereas optimizing vitamin D levels will certainly benefit bone and muscle health, the data suggests that it is also likely to reduce serious COVID-19 complications. This may be because vitamin D is important in regulation and suppression of the inflammatory cytokine response, which causes the severe consequences of COVID-19 and ‘acute respiratory distress syndrome’ associated with ventilation and death.”

Instead of mainly using fear and fear tactics, governments should encourage people to boost their innate immunity. This can be done by encouraging people to increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C, foods high in zinc, and getting, when appropriate, sunlight exposure to increase vitamin D levels.

In my case, in addition to all of the preceding, I take also take 100% food nutrient supplements high in vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D, selenium, and other nutrients which I believe supports a health immune system.

Cristina Cuomo says Vitamin C essential in her fight against COVID-19

Saw an article today (https://www.aol.com/…/cristina-cuomo-shares-her-t…/24046959/) where the wife of CNN’s Chris Cuomo discussed her experience battling the coronavirus.

The article stated that the mother of three has been about following a naturopathic route toward recovery, and shared some of the things that have helped her, both physically and emotionally, during her illness and in everyday life.

“Of course the 6,000 milligrams of Vitamin C a day, I think, is mandatory,” she shared. “Whether you’re sick or you’re healthy, you should be taking Vitamin C, Vitamin B, Vitamin D, Zync… every day.”

The article also stated, “she’s been so focused on maintaining a heath regimen based around whole foods, vitamins, deep breathing and well-rounded nutrition.”

Yes, but for optimal health WHOLE FOOD Vitamins (and Minerals) are better.

Anyway, I have made posts related to COVID-19 Zinc and Vitamin C that others may wish to look at.

Let me also add that FOOD Vitamin C, FOOD Zinc, FOOD Vitamin D, and FOOD B Vitamins are superior (see Natural Vitamins May Be Superior to Synthetic Ones. Medical Hypotheses, 2000; 55(6):461-469) to what Mrs. Cuomo seems to have been taking.

So, while I am glad she promoted naturopathic and nutritional interventions, it would be better if she went truly naturopathic and focused on 100% Food nutrients.

People should be encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C.

So, yes, I  believe that people can support their innate immunity with properly advised 100% food nutrients.

Sadly, instead of focusing on how people can improve their health and strengthen their immune systems, we are seeing fear, ridicule, and the expansion of government control over people’s lives as the official means repeatedly pushed by the mainstream media to deal with aspects of the coronavirus.

To the most faithful, Jesus said:

32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)

While many are promoting fear and often hypocrisy, Christians are not to live in fear.

We live in hope. Notice the following:

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.  (1 Peter 1:13-21)

Note that quote, “Be holy, for I am holy,” comes from Leviticus 11:44-45. Leviticus 11 lists animals humans can and cannot eat for meat (see also The New Testament Church, History, and Unclean Meats). If that had been obeyed, it is unlikely we would have had a COVID-19 crisis.

Christians have hope and live as God instructs:

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:11-14)

Christians place confidence in Jesus and the coming Kingdom of God.

But there are physical things we can do as well. Those who can should be encouraged to exercise (1 Timothy 4:8), “eat what is good” (Isaiah 55:2), periodically fast (cf. Mark 2:20), get proper sunlight exposure (helps convert cholesterol into vitamin D), pray (cf. Luke 21:36), avoid biblically unclean meats (see The New Testament Church, History, and Unclean Meats), and for more physical help, take appropriate competently recommended supplements.

Anyway, there is science behind Donald Trump taking zinc and even some for his decision to take hydroxychloroquine. But he should also consider dietary and other changes.

A while back, the anti-COG site, calling itself Banned by HWA, ran an old letter purportedly written by former WCG member Harry Eisenberg opposed to tithing. Here are some extracts:

I was a paid researcher on the staff of Ambassador College for over four years. Generally speaking, my work involved providing “proofs” for the pet concepts and theories held by Mr. Herbert Armstrong and/or his son, Garner Ted. …

In January 1973, I was asked by my supervisor, Brian Knowles, to research the subject of tithing. In particular, Mr. Knowles was interested in learning who paid what to whom and how in ancient Israel.

And so I began a systematic study of the tithing doctrine by listing each Biblical verse which in any way refers to tithing. What followed was a study of commentaries, encyclopedias arid various historical sources. The result was inevitable! I came to see that the tithing concept as promulgated by Ambassador College and the Worldwide Church of God was contrary to both the Old and the New Testaments.

Scripture makes it plain that the right to collect tithes was given to the Levitical priesthood in exchange for their service in the Temple. There is no evidence that this right was ever passed on to the New Testament Church. …

But are all the claims in that letter accurate?

No.

Furthermore, the New Testament teaches that tithing changed from the Levitical priesthood because of Jesus (Hebrews 7:4-16). Early Christians understood that they were to tithe.

Tithing in the Old Testament

In English, Greek, and Hebrew, the word “tithe” comes from a derivative of the number “ten,” and means the setting aside of a tenth of one’s income for a specific, often religious purpose. Tithing is an ancient practice—very ancient.

While tithing is a critical practice of the Old Covenant, it did not originate with Moses and the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai. In the biblical account, the tithe actually shows up some five centuries before the Law was given. We first hear of it in the Book of Genesis. …

Not a Tithe but Tithes

It is also important to remember that for the nation of Israel and for faithful Jews during the Old Testament period, not just one, but three separate tithes were prescribed. In simplified form, the three tithes were:

(1) An annual tithe, to be paid towards the support of the Levites, priests, and other religious personnel, who were not allowed an inheritance of their own and thus were at the mercy of the state (see Numbers 18:21–24).

(2) A separate annual feast tithe, which went towards the expenses and upkeep of the Temple, and the various feasts and sacrifices surrounding it (see Deuteronomy 14:22–27).

(3) A third-year tithe for the poor of the land, and again for the Levite (see Deuteronomy 26:12f).

So to “run the numbers,” by the time all of these various tithes were paid into the treasuries, along with the various other taxes, offerings, and contributions, it is likely that a faithful Israelite male under the Old Covenant paid closer to a third of his annual income toward some form of tithe, not just ten percent!

The Spirit Behind the Law

Crunching numbers is one thing. … Consider the following observations.

(1) The tithe was not optional under the Old Covenant. …

(2) The paying of the tithe was first and foremost an act of worship, not merely a duty. …

(3) The tithe was considered to be a minimum standard, not the total of all giving. This can be seen clearly throughout the passages of the Old Testament, and especially in the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament), where the teaching is most clearly expanded and set forth.

Jesus may have had this teaching in mind when He spoke to the Pharisees of first-century Jerusalem about tithing. He railed against these “teachers of the Law” not because they had failed to follow the letter of the Law (by all appearances, they had meticulously followed the minimum standard and kept current with all accounts), but because in the scrupulous performance of this minimum, they had totally missed the true spirit behind the Law. To them, Jesus raised His voice in righteous indignation: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!” (Matthew 23:23–24).

Tithing in the New Testament

This quote from the Gospel of Matthew represents the very mind and heart of God Himself regarding this matter of tithing. …

The above passage from Matthew is interesting for another reason. It is one of only a handful of passages in the New Testament that speak of tithing. The only others are its parallel account in the book of Luke (11:42), the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:9–14), and a handful of passages in the Book of Hebrews relating to the story of Abraham’s tithe to Melchizedek.

Why is this so? Why don’t we read about the brethren in Corinth being told to set aside part of their tithes for the suffering church in Jerusalem? Why are there no instructions for new convert churches regarding how to set up a ten-percent tithe? Why did Jesus Himself only refer to the tithe on two occasions, both of them at least slightly negative in connotation? (The first is quoted above. The second is found in Luke 18, where the self-righteous Pharisee boasts, “I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.”)

Answers to this question have varied widely, depending on the perspective of the interpreter. Some have said that this silence reflects nothing more than the fact that the practice of tithing continued unabated into the New Testament period. Jewish converts to Christianity, already accustomed to paying their tithes to the Temple, simply transferred those offerings to the Church. Gentile converts would have been taught the importance of tithing from the beginning. It wasn’t even worth writing about, end of discussion. …

Tithing in the Church

Sadly, there are Orthodox Christians who argue that tithing is merely a Protestant phenomenon. As we have seen, tithing is an ancient practice—it most certainly did not originate at a meeting of the Southern Baptist convention. … The writings of the Church Fathers include a number of intriguing references to tithing. …

For those unfamiliar, let me state that the old WCG (Worldwide Church of God) taught three tithes.

That was what the Bible taught as well.

What about historical evidence?

Well, it exists–historical evidence supports the idea of three tithes like the old WCG taught.

It does not matter that Harry Eisenberg purportedly claimed otherwise.

Notice something that the Jewish historian Josephus wrote 1800 years before Herbert Armstrong’s birth:

“Besides those two tithes, which I have already said you are to pay every year, the one for the Levites, the other for the festivals, you are to bring every third year, a third tithe to be distributed to those that want” (Antiquities of the Jews. Book IV, Chapter VIII, Paragraph 22).

Another secular writer confirmed this even earlier in Tobit 1:6-8:

“Taking the first fruits and the tithes of my produce and the first shearings, I would give these to the priests, the sons of Aaron, at the altar. Of all my produce I would give a tenth to the sons of Levi who ministered at Jerusalem; a second tenth I would sell, and I would go and spend the proceeds each year at Jerusalem; the third tenth I would give to those to whom it was my duty”.

Thus, multiple tithes were not an invention of Herbert Armstrong and were understood to exist around the time of Jesus.

The concept of second and third tithe was something that Herbert Armstrong claimed in his 12/17/83 sermon was one of the truths he restored to the Philadelphia era of the Church of God. He claimed that this was one of the truths that the Sardis era did not have, but that at least one of the earlier eras of the Church of God had.

Here is a quote explaining why WCG used to believe that at least part of the Thyatira era of the Church paid multiple tithes:

“The three-part division of tithes paid the Waldensian Church is significant. Even in the 1500’s the same division continued. “The money given us by the people is carried to the aforesaid general council, and is delivered in the presence of all, and there it is received by the most ancients (the elders), and part thereof is given to those that are wayfaring men, according to their necessities, and part unto the poor” (George Morel, Waldensian elder, quoted by Lennard, “History of the Waldenses”). 1. Compare this practice with Num. 18:21 and Deut. 14:22-25, 28-29. Isn’t it exactly what the Bible commands?… Most authors have ASSUMED the “wayfaring men” were the traveling “barbel.” But THEIR expenses would have been paid from the money given the elders, at EVERY time of year, for the direct conduct of the Work — “first” tithe and offerings. Notice that in Numbers 18:21. What Morel then mentions is a “second” tithe, for those traveling to and from the festivals — wayfaring men; and following it, the “third” to the poor. See the explanation in Deut. 14. Feast goers who had more “second tithe” than they needed shared their excess with those who had need, even as they do today! (LESSON 51 (1968) AMBASSADOR COLLEGE BIBLE CORRESPONDENCE COURSE “And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place …” Rev. 12:6).

Hence, even if one argues that multiple tithing is not necessarily a specific command in the New Testament (anti-Sabbatarians make similar arguments), one should recognize that multiple tithes have been a practice and tradition of the true Church of God for some time. The idea of tithing was not foreign to those who originally professed Christ.

Jude, who was based in Jerusalem (his brother James was the bishop there), wrote to “contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). And this delivered faith would have included tithing.

The Greco-Roman historian Eusebius reported that the first fifteen bishops/pastors of Jerusalem (until c. 135 A.D.) were circumsized Jews who kept the law, etc. (Eusebius. The History of the Church, Book III, Chapter V, Verses 2,3.& Book IV, Chapter 5, Verses 2-4, pp. 45, 71). This means that they also would have tithed and gave offerings similar to how the Jews did (for a short time, c. 67-71, some of the faithful Christians in Jerusalem fled to Pella and then returned).

In the second century, the Jewish authorities in the Tosefta condemned the Judeo-Christians and their tithes (Tofseta Hullin 2:20, as cited in Kessler E. An Introduction to Jewish-Christian Relations. Cambridge University Press, 2010, p. 79), thus signalling that tithing was being done.

Some of the tithe money was apparently used to finance gospel-proclaiming missionaries. Related to the first one or two centuries A.D., notice the following:

The type of Christianity which first was favored, then raised to leadership by Constantine was that of the Roman Papacy. But this was not the type of Christianity that first penetrated Syria, northern Italy, southern France, and Great Britain. The ancient records of the first believers in Christ in those parts, disclose a Christianity which is not Roman but apostolic. These lands were first penetrated by missionaries, not from Rome, but from Palestine and Asia Minor. (Moore, D.V. The Culdee Church, chapters 3 and 4, and Wilkinson, Our Authorized Bible Vindicated, pp. 25, 26 (As cited in Dugger, A History of True Religion, pp. 90-91)

In Palestine, Syria and Asia Minor the churches organized in the apostolic age continued for a long time to be great centres for the propagation of the New Way. (Sell HT. Studies in early church history. F. H. Revell company, 1906. Original from Harvard University, Digitized Mar 24, 2008, p. 52)

The missionaries, most likely, were paid for via tithes from where they originated. It is not likely that many would listen to them if they always arrived in locations broke and had to plead to eat, etc. Some system of tithes and offerings was in place. Notice that the above account shows that the missionaries were sent forth, funded, by those in Palestine and Asia Minor. Up until 135 A.D., the Church of God in Jerusalem of Judea/Palestine was led by those who would have continued with tithes and offerings–and this would have been the case in Asia Minor until around the middle of the third century.

Furthermore, the Apostle John moved to Asia Minor–the Bible specifically tells that he spent time in Patmos (Revelation 1:9). The records of history indicate that John was sent to Patmos by Emperor Domitian, and Eusebius recorded that: “after the tyrant’s death, he returned from the isle of Patmos to Ephesus” (Eusebius. The History of the Church, Book III, Chapter XXIII, Verse 6, p. 56)–Ephesus is in Asia Minor. According to various sources, the Apostle John kept the same practices that the bishops in Jerusalem did, hence he tithed. The Apostle John also warned that those who were truly Christians would keep the same practices he kept (1 John 2:19).

History records that Polycarp of Smyrna passed on to his successors “the canons which he had learned from his youth from John the apostle” (Weidman, Frederick W. Polycarp and John: The Harris Fragments and Their Challenge to Literary Traditions. University of Notre Dame Press, Notre Dame (IL), 1999, p. 444). History also records that Polycarp and his successors kept “Judeao-Christian” practices (Eusebius. The History of the Church, Book V, Chapter XXIV, Verses 2-7, p. 114) as well. This true form of Christianity dominated Asia Minor until the middle of the third century (cf. Eusebius. The History of the Church, Book VII, Chapter V, Verse I, p. 147).

Since we have seen that missionaries were sent from Palestine and Asia Minor; that those in Jerusalem until 135 A.D., Syria until the early third century, and Asia Minor until at least the third century A.D., had what are called “Judeao-Christian” practices, therefore tithing existed in the Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7) and Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11) eras of the Church of God.

Notice also the following was written in the early 200s by Origen of Alexandria (who was not Church of God):

That people which was called of old the people of God was divided into twelve tribes, and over and above the other tribes it had the levitical order, which itself again carried on the service of God in various priestly and levitical suborders. In the same manner, it appears to me that the whole people of Christ, when we regard it in the aspect of the hidden man of the heart, Romans 2:29 that people which is called “Jew inwardly,” and is circumcised in the spirit, has in a more mystic way the characteristics of the tribes. This may be more plainly gathered from John in his Apocalyse, though the other prophets also…

Those of the tribes offer to God, through the levites and priests, tithes and first fruits; not everything which they possess do they regard as tithe or first fruit. The levites and priests, on the other hand, have no possessions but tithes and first fruits; yet they also in turn offer tithes to God through the high-priests, and, I believe, first fruits too. The same is the case with those who approach Christian studies. (Origen. Commentary on the Gospel of John, Book I, Chapters 1,3)

In the mid-late 200s, the apocryphal Apostolic Constitution claims that the Apostle Matthias (Acts 1:26) endorsed the payment of first-fruit offerings and tithes ( Apostolic Constitutions (Book VIII, Section IV, Chapter XXX) Translated by James Donaldson. From Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7. Edited by Alexander Roberts, James Donaldson, and A. Cleveland Coxe. Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1886. The 13th chapter of the Didache (a first or second century document) also seems to support this.

Collier’s Encyclopedia stated:

“TITHE [taith] {O.E. teotha, a tenth}, generally defined as the tenth part of fruits and profits justly acquired, owed to God in recognition of his supreme dominion, and paid to the ministers of region. It is an institution of undetermined antiquity, common to be the Israelitic and many pagan religions. Adopted in principle by the Christian Church from apostolic times … (Collier’s Encyclopedia: With Bibliography and Index, Bernard Johnston (M.A.). 1993, ISBN 0029425484, p.336)

The Catholic Encyclopedia claims:

The payment of tithes was adopted from the Old Law, and early writers speak of it as a divine ordinance and an obligation of conscience (Fanning, William. Tithes. The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 14. Nihil Obstat. July 1, 1912. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. Robert Appleton Company, 1912. 1 Nov. 2012 <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14741b.htm>).

The Catholic bishop and saint Cyprian of the third century wrote about tithing as an obligation (Plowden, Francis. The Principles and Law of Tithing. C. and R. Baldwin, London, 1806, p. 60.):

As this is said of all men, how much rather ought those not to be bound by worldly anxieties and involvements, who, being busied with divine and spiritual things, are not able to withdraw from the Church, and to have leisure for earthly and secular doings! The form of which ordination and engagement the Levites formerly observed under the law, so that when the eleven tribes divided the land and shared the possessions, the Levitical tribe, which was left free for the temple and the altar, and for the divine ministries, received nothing from that portion of the division; but while others cultivated the soil, that portion only cultivated the favour of God, and received the tithes from the eleven tribes, for their food and maintenance, from the fruits which grew. All which was done by divine authority and arrangement, so that they who waited on divine services might in no respect be called away, nor be compelled to consider or to transact secular business. Which plan and rule is now maintained in respect of the clergy, that they who are promoted by clerical ordination in the Church of the Lord may be called off in no respect from the divine administration, nor be tied down by worldly anxieties and matters; but in the honour of the brethren who contribute, receiving as it were tenths of the fruits, they may not withdraw from the altars and sacrifices, but may serve day and might in heavenly and spiritual things. An Antiochian (likely Eastern Orthodox related), but spurious, source from the 3^rd century states:

Set by part-offerings and tithes and first fruits to Christ, the true High Priest, and to His ministers … the priests and Levites now are the presbyters and deacons … (Didascalia Apostolorum, Chapter IX. Translated by Hugh Connelly. Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1929)

The above suggests that at least some affiliated with the Greco-Romans tithed in the 3^rd century.

Later Catholic writers such as Augustine in the fourth/fifth century wrote that tithing was obligatory:

Augustine [Append. Serm. cclxxcii], whose words are quoted 16, qu. i [Can. Decimae], says: “It is a duty to pay tithes, and whoever refuses to pay them takes what belongs to another.” (Aquinas T. The Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas Second and Revised Edition, 1920. Question 87-Tithes. Literally translated by Fathers of the English Dominican Province Online Edition Copyright © 2008 by Kevin Knight Nihil Obstat. F. Innocentius Apap, O.P., S.T.M., Censor. Theol. Imprimatur. Edus. Canonicus Surmont, Vicarius Generalis. Westmonasterii. APPROBATIO ORDINIS Nihil Obstat. F. Raphael Moss, O.P., S.T.L. and F. Leo Moore, O.P., S.T.L. Imprimatur. F. It is not that these Catholic sources should be relied on for doctrine that contradicts scripture, but their support suggests that tithing was understood and not a foreign concept among those that professed Christ in the early centuries after Jesus’ resurrection.

Getting back to the Church of God, Jerome recorded that there were people who claimed descent from the Church of God who had fled to Pella from Jerusalem, kept the ‘old law’ and had the “Judeao-Christian” practices of the Sabbath, Holy Days, millenarianism, etc. (Pritz t. Nazarene Jewish Christianity. Magnas, Jerusalem, 1988, pp. 58,62,63. Bagatti, Bellarmino. Translated by Eugene Hoade. The Church from the Circumcision. Nihil obstat: Marcus Adinolfi. Imprimi potest: Herminius Roncari. Imprimatur: +Albertus Gori, die 26 Junii 1970. Franciscan Printing Press, Jerusalem, p. 202). Thus, they too would have tithed. This indicates tithing was still in place towards the end of the Smyra era of the Church of God.

To suggest that this was mainly a pet doctrine of Armstrong’s without historical precedent is in error.

The bailouts will create huge new distortions in the economy – on top of not allowing the old ones to be liquidated. And as you’ll recall, that’s one of the three definitions that I use for a depression.

The broadest one is it’s a period of time when most people’s standard of living falls significantly – that’s already happening, but it’s just started. We’re definitely in a depression, from that point of view.

A depression is also a time when distortions and misallocations of capital are liquidated. Well, they’re not letting them be liquidated. That will make the depression even worse when they finally are liquidated. This is really serious. This shutdown has created even more distortions, made worse by the government’s helicopter money.

I don’t see any way out of it, other than completely disengaging the State from the economy. But there’s no way that will happen at this point. The problem is greatly aggravated by everybody blaming the depression on the virus. The virus itself is basically a manufactured scam.

Globally, about 400,000 people die from the common seasonal flu each year. And I doubt that the virus will even get that high – it’s just over 300,000 globally now, even though the numbers are being inflated for political reasons. It’s a manufactured hysteria. The biggest one since the witch hysteria of the 17^th century.

It’s a convenient excuse for the collapse of the economy. The economy would have collapsed anyway, because of all the distortions caused by the State. But now, they can blame it on the virus. Now they can say it’s really nobody’s fault. It’s not the fault of the government. It’s not the fault of the Federal Reserve. It’s just an act of God that came out of nowhere.

So this is perfect for the government. If I was them, I would look at this thing as manna from heaven. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to them. Not to mention an excuse for a vast increase in State power. While many government officials may be pleased, what the USA is doing is not “perfect for the government.” As far as the global death count, some believe it is understated, though the Supervisor of San Diego County last week made a case for the COVID-19 deaths as massively undercounted.

Last week, House Democrats unveiled their latest pandemic-relief package. The bill combines aid for families, a bailout for struggling cities and states, and additional funds for testing, tracing, and hospitals. The price tag is about $3 trillion—and it comes just weeks after the president signed an economic-relief package worth about $2 trillion.

Republicans have assailed the bill as a profligate wish list. Even Americans who are suffering from the health and economic ravages of the pandemic may feel a bit stunned by the dollar amount. Does the government really have to spend $5 trillion in three months? Can the United States afford to dump such unfathomable amounts of money into the economy?

The answers to those questions are yes and absolutely yes. …

It is wrong to print up money the government does not have. This practice has been done for thousands of years and the Bible condemns it!

This diluting of the value of currency (called “dross” anciently)–which is what the USA has been doing–and many want it to do more of–is condemned in the Bible.

4 Take away the dross from silver (Proverbs 25:4a).

22 Your silver has become dross, Your wine mixed with water. (Isaiah 1:22)

25 I will turn My hand against you, And thoroughly purge away your dross, And take away all your alloy. (Isaiah 1:25)

18 “Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to Me; they are all bronze, tin, iron, and lead, in the midst of a furnace; they have become dross from silver. 19 Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20 As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. 21 Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. 22 As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury on you.’” (Ezekiel 22:18-22)

Dross is what you can call ‘legal’ counterfeiting. Basically in ancient times, nations would produce coins that were supposed to be silver or gold. But to ‘stimulate the economy’ when those were in short supply, cheaper metals were used, and gold or silver would cover the coin. The coins would look like real money, but they were not.

That is basically what the USA has been doing and others want it to do more of that. Dross was a factor in the final destruction of the old Roman Empire. This is NOT good for the USA (see also Could the USA collapse because of ‘dross money’ like Rome?).

Although the Bible warns against using dross and diluting the money supply, many modern ‘experts’ have a different view. The wrong views on economics will lead to economic problems and ultimately the total crash of the dollar of the USA.

It will be much worse than most think.

The Bible warns, “be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). The Bible also warns that destruction will come in the end time to highly indebted nations (cf. Habakkuk 2:2-8).

There is a serious cost to having an economy pumped up with so much “dross” money.

There are disastrous changes that will come to the USA (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses)–and its debt and other monetary practices, which one day will cause massive hyperinflation–will be a cause (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses).

But since many leading so-called ‘economists’ are political hacks and/or have a political agenda, do not expect too many prominent ones to have sufficient influence to resolve the problems in the USA.

Yes, the USA needs national repentance. But printing up three trillion dollars more that the USA does not have is worse than worthless–printing money that the USA does not have will result in the end of the USA (cf. Habakkuk 2L6-8).

The Economist highlights that using the dollar to expand the scope of American law and policy has become President Trump’s mantra in “America first!”. Many countries understandably view this as an abuse of power. …

. Director Tom Keatinge of the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies at the RUSI think tank rightly notes that all of this would suggest we are nearing a “tipping point”. Countries used to stop at just expressing their dissatisfaction with America’s clout as the predominant financial power, but now they are beginning to go to the lengths to resist it.

Experts note that now not only do America’s geopolitical rivals want to avoid dollar dominance, so do many U.S. allies. In her manifesto for 2019-24, Ursula von der Leyen, the new President of the European Commission, said: “I want to strengthen the international role of the euro.” Her predecessor Jean-Claude Juncker has called the dollar’s dominance in European energy trade an “aberration”. As a result, the European Commission is now working on a new action plan, part of which involves encouraging EU countries to eliminate “undue reference” to the dollar in payments and trade. …

China could sell part of the US national debt and thereby trigger a crash in the US dollar.

Many in the USA improperly believe that the Federal Government can continue to massively create electronic money to ‘bail out’ businesses, state and local governments, and citizens for what the lockdown and some of its other policies related to COVID-19 have caused.

What about Europe?

It is reeling from COVID-19 issues as well.

But it has NOT produced trillions of Euros of debt, at least not yet, for COVID-19.

Consider a story, I have reported here before:

There once was a movie that had two men camping outdoors. Suddenly, one man yells, “Run, a bear!” The other man yells back, “You can’t outrun a bear.” The first man responded with, “True, but all I have to do is to outrun you.”

The implication is that the first man only needed to be better in the sight of the bear than the second one, which presumably the bear would consider to be weaker, and then catch and destroy.

From an economic perspective, the story basically is that the debt and economic situation in Europe does not need to be perfect, only perceived to better than that of the USA to someday surpass it.

COVID-19’s reducing economic output and the USA government’s massively increasing debt–the USA dollar will one day be worth no more than the novelty and scrap value of it cotton-paper!

COVID-19 should be proof that the Anglo-American dominated world as we know it will not continue (watch also our latest video COVID 19 is NOT the End, but could it be TEOTWAWKI?):

3 … knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. The massive increase in debt is UNSUSTAINABLE. That means that things CANNOT CONTINUE as they have been. Biblical prophecies are coming to pass.

Do not live your life like the current world order will continue as it has. Bible prophecy says that it will not. Increasing levels of debt show that a debt bubble will one day burst and the USA (as well as its Anglo-Saxon descended allies will one day be no more).

Those who do not believe that the economy of the US can fail are ignoring reality.

The economy of the US is, at best, built on a foundation of sand, as debt is certainly not a rock to build upon.

Jesus taught:

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27)

34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

Are you watching, praying, and living your life to be accounted worthy? The Great Tribulation is coming.

“Great” will be the fall of the US.

Does life have a purpose?

Nobody expects atoms and molecules to have purposes, so why do we still think of living things in this way?

here’s no sense for most scientists that a star is for anything, or that a molecule serves an end. But when we come to talk about living things, it seems very hard to shake off the idea that they have purposes and goals, which are served by the ways they have evolved.

As I have written about before in Aeon, the chemist James Lovelock got into very hot water with his fellow scientists when he wanted to talk about the Earth being an organism (the Gaia hypothesis) and its parts having purposes: that sea lagoons were for evaporating unneeded salt out of the ocean, for instance. And as Steven Poole wrote in his essay ‘Your point is?’ in Aeon earlier this year, the contemporary philosopher Thomas Nagel is also in hot water since he suggested in his book Mind and Cosmos (2012) that we need to use teleological understanding to explain the nature of life and its evolution.

Some have thought that this lingering teleological language is a sign that biology is not a real science at all, but just a collection of observations and facts. Others argue that the apparent purposefulness of nature leaves room for God. Immanuel Kant declared that you cannot do biology without thinking in terms of function, of final causes: ‘There will never be a Newton for a blade of grass,’ he claimed in Critique of Judgment (1790), meaning that living things are simply not determined by the laws of nature in the way that non-living things are, and we need the language of purpose in order to explain the organic world.

Why do we still talk about organisms and their features in this way? Is biology basically different from the other sciences because living things do have purposes and ends? Yes, life has a purpose and there really is a God.

Before getting to that it should be pointed out that REAL scientists, those actually willing to believe the facts of biology realize that evolution is NOT science.

Those who claim that evolution is the origin of life are not being logical as that is impossible.

Consider the following admission from Nobel Prize winner Dr. George Wald, from Harvard University:

The reasonable view was to believe in spontaneous generation (life from nothing); the only alternative, to believe in a single, primary act of supernatural creation. There is no third position . . . One has only to contemplate the magnitude of this task to concede that the spontaneous generation of a living organism is impossible. Yet here we are, as a result I believe, of spontaneous generation. (Scott I. The God Solution: Are You Ready? Xlibris Corporation, 2013, p. 41)

This is an astounding admission. Dr. Wald is saying that he chose to believe the impossible. And “scientists” claim that those who believe in a Creator have blind faith with no proof, but instead believe the impossible!

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines impossible as “incapable of being or of occurring.”

It is a falsehood to believe in something that is impossible–it is illogical.

Consider the following from the Bible:

¹⁴ Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. ¹⁵ But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (Revelation 22:14-15)

Would not professing belief in something you know is impossible be loving and believing a lie?

The fact is that evolution functions as a false religion that many cling to. Therefore, many who hold to it do not bother to look into the truth about why they are on this planet nor what their life really is supposed to be about.

The Apostle Paul warned:

The Bible is scientific and reliable. Not all scientists are. Nor are all theologians.

But God’s plan is a mystery to most.

God’s purpose for His creation is for eternity to be better.

His purpose for individual human beings is for them to be able to give love in a unique way to make eternity better for themselves and everyone else.

No spike in coronavirus in places reopening, U.S. health secretary says

Authorities are not seeing spikes in coronavirus cases in places that are reopening but are seeing increases in some areas that remain closed, U.S. health secretary Alex Azar said on Sunday.

“We are seeing that in places that are opening, we’re not seeing this spike in cases,” Azar said on CNN’s “State of the Union” program. “We still see spikes in some areas that are in fact close to very localized situations.”

Azar put the onus on reopening struggles on local governments.

“These are very localized determinations. There should not be a one size fits all to reopening but reopen we must because it’s not health versus the economy. Over in Europe, some are realizing that their economies can’t really wait for a potential COVID-19 vaccine. The Associated Press reported the following:

SOAVE, Italy (AP) — In separate, stark warnings, two major European leaders have bluntly told their citizens that the world needs to adapt to living with the coronavirus and cannot wait to be saved by the development of a vaccine.

The comments by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson came as nations around the world and U.S. states are both struggling with restarting economies blindsided by the pandemic. With 36 million newly unemployed in the U.S. alone, economic pressures are building even as authorities acknowledge that reopening risks off new waves of infections and deaths.

Pushed hard by Italy’s regional leaders and weeks in advance of an earlier timetable, Conte is allowing restaurants, bars and beach facilities to open Monday, the same day that church services can resume and shops reopen.

”We are facing a calculated risk, in the awareness … that the epidemiological curve could go back up,” Conte said late Saturday. “We are confronting this risk, and we need to accept it, otherwise we would never be able to relaunch.”

Conte added that Italy could “not afford” to wait until a vaccine was developed. Health experts say the world could be months, if not years, away from having a vaccine available to everyone despite the scientific gold rush now on to create such a vaccine.

“We would find ourselves with our social and productive fabric heavily damaged,” Conte said.

Italy’s economy is forecast to contract 9% this year due to the coronavirus amid a long, strict lockdown.

For his part, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was hospitalized last month with a serious bout of COVID-19, speculated Sunday that a vaccine may not be developed at all, despite the huge global effort to produce one.

“I said we would throw everything we could at finding a vaccine,” Johnson wrote in the Mail on Sunday newspaper. “There remains a very long way to go, and I must be frank that a vaccine might not come to fruition.” https://apnews.com/77811f188de90cc53306d929b365d2d2

Yes, the economic damage caused by totalitarian shutdowns and restrictions is deeply harming the economies of many nations, not just in Europe, but around the world.

As far as vaccines go, it should be remembered that the human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV, which causes AIDS), is also a type of coronavirus. Billions of dollars and decades of research have not yet resulted in a truly effective vaccine to prevent it. Avoiding contaminated needles and obeying God’s laws on sexuality prevent it. But, that is not what many want to hear.

Anyway, as far as vaccines go, they are intended to assist what is called the adaptive immune system. But, for a disease like cold viruses, where having had one does not prevent getting ill from another one, vaccines have also not been effective. Also, because it is reported that it does not appear that getting and then getting over COVID-19 always grants one future immunity, a vaccine may not be very effective. Plus, RNA replicating viruses can mutate and be otherwise difficult to deal with using vaccines. But many officials have placed their public hopes on a vaccine to deal with COVID-19.

Sadly, public health officials, most of which have no serious experience with nutritionally supporting human immune response, overlook what can be done to improve a person’s innate immune system. That would include, for example, encouraging the consumption of fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C, brazil nuts for selenium, seeds & meats high in zinc, and getting sufficient sunlight for vitamin D. They are even less inclined to recommend supplements which contain 100% food sources of those nutrients.

Anyway, what some government leaders are realizing is that by not reopening until there is a reliable vaccine or some other pharmaceutical drug, the economies they live off of may become nearly irreparably damaged.

But they are still not sure how to open to minimize deaths from COVID-19.

And, in Europe, not every one agrees.

Some countries, like Italy and Greece, want things like travel opened now. Countries like Germany are not so sure about travel.

Before going further, notice the following prophecy about Europe:

Yes, Europe has a problem with unity as the nations do not naturally adhere to each other. They have different interests, different cultures, and different languages.

This has been a problem with the coronavirus. So much so, that some have been concerned that ‘national interests’ have been placed above European solidarity.

Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich voiced concerns that COVID-19 could lead to the end of the European Union. He said changes in the EU were needed. We put together the following video related to that:

Following statements from various political leaders, Luxembourg Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich voiced concerns that COVID-19 could lead to the end of the European Union as nationalism is pushing out European solidarity. Could the EU break apart? Could the Euro collapse? Does the Bible tell of unity problems for Europe in Daniel 2? Does the Bible teach that Europe will reorganize and give its power to a totalitarian dictator called the Beast from the sea? How will the prophesied European unity come about? Ideals like siding with the World Health Organization against the US on the coronavirus? Siding with the Vatican on climate change against the US? Ideals of European superiority?

Despite unity issues, a European confederation will be around for a time, eventually be destroyed by God, and that is a certain prophecy.

But, does that mean that the ‘European Union’ will survive as it is until God destroys it?

No.

Cardinal Hollerich is essentially calling for a reorganization of Europe. Economic and other fallout from COVID-19 may well contribute to this happening.

The New Testament shows that Europe will reorganize (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?), rise up, and ultimately be destroyed itself:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:12-14, NKJV throughout unless otherwise noted)

This reorganization will change Europe!

The EU will NOT function as it has.

Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse will set the stage for totalitarian control by the coming European Beast (watch also the sermon Fourth Horseman, COVID, and the Rise of the Beast of Revelation). COVID-19 is helping show all that Europe will have to reorganize and that totalitarian measures by governments will be tolerated!

The late WCG Pastor General Herbert W. Armstrong mentioned a few things that would unite Europe:

And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…

But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite! … Well now I think I can see what may be the very event that is going to trigger … that is the economic situation in the world (Armstrong HW. HOW, THEN, CAN THEY AGREE TOGETHER AND UNITE? For years The PLAIN TRUTH has said these nations are going to have to realize their inability to unite themselves politically-to choose a common political-military Leader that all can trust. They are going to finally face the fact they must look to a Supreme Authority they can all trust! That Supreme Authority cannot be a politician, or a general (De Gaulle is both). The only possible answer is a Religious Leader! (Armstrong HW. Personal. Plain Truth, November 1965, pp.1-2)

At the psychological time, the pope will step in … Thru this political movement, he will UNIFY … nations in Europe. It will be a “The UNITED STATES OF EUROPE,” but that probably will never become its official name. (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth, December 1948, pp. 2,5).

Now one of the great things that is urging Europe on, and perhaps the greatest thing that will cause them to hurry and get together on this, is their fear … Now that is a chief incentive to unite them … (Armstrong HW. United States of EUROPE IS COMING! Sermon Date: November 27, 1982)

Yes, economic problems, religion, and fear will be factors in the coming unification and reorganization of Europe under the prophesied Beast.

Europe will, one day, no longer have the pretense of a democracy but will become a fierce dictatorship (cf. Deuteronomy 28:49-50; Revelation 13; Daniel 7:25).

But how since it is so dis-unified?

Jean-Claude Hollerich, who was made a cardinal by Pope Francis last year, mentioned that “ideals” were needed.

By this, he means Catholic ideals.

Herbert W. Armstrong felt that while Europe needed a political-military leader, some type of religious leader was needed to unify Europeans.

The Bible shows that a false prophet will arise (Revelation 16:13). He will support the European Beast and is called the beast coming up from the earth:

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. (Revelation 13:11-15)

This religious leader will be a type of anti-pope (see also Catholic Prophecies: Do They Mirror, Highlight, or Contradict Biblical Prophecies?) and will one day support the destruction of the Church of Rome (cf. Revelation 17:15-18).

Cardinal Hollerich also said something else about Europe as Crux reported:

Notice the following biblical prophecy from the New Jerusalem Bible, a Roman Catholic translation:

¹ Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each of its ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.

² I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon had handed over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.

³ I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healed and the whole world had marvelled and followed the beast. (Revelation 13:1-3)

The “sea” is the Mediterranean Sea (Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16; Daniel 7:2-8)–hence this is a European leader.

Cardinal Hollerich warned of a fatal wound.

Well, the world has long felt that Europe has been fatally wounded–but the Bible says it will rise up, the world will marvel, and follow the totalitarian European Beast!

Some might even consider the economic and other impacts of the coronavirus the “fatal wound”–a wound Italy and others are hoping to recover from.

Europe will reorganize–with or without a vaccine.

Yet, the Bible shows that what it will ends up with will be disastrous from many nations (Daniel 11:39-43) as well as itself (Daniel 2:44, 11:44-45).

After delays, Benjamin Netanyahu was again installed as Israel’s Prime Minister:

JERUSALEM (AP) — After three deadlocked and divisive elections, a year and a half of political paralysis and another three-day delay because of political infighting in his Likud party, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu finally swore in his new government on Sunday. …

A mini-insurgency by angry senior Likud members forced Netanyahu to seek a delay in the swearing-in ceremony last Thursday. …

In his speech to parliament, Netanyahu acknowledged that compromises had to be made but that another election would have been far more devastating.

“The public wants a unity government and this is what the public is getting today,” he said. “We chose to serve the country together.” …

Netanyahu also pledged to push forth with controversial plans to annex parts of the West Bank.

Netanyahu’s nationalist base is eager to push for annexation before the U.S. elections in November — after which Trump could be replaced by Joe Biden, who has said he opposes unilateral annexation. The coalition agreement allows him to present a proposal as soon as July 1.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said … “It’s time to apply the Israeli law and write another glorious chapter in the history of Zionism,” Netanyahu told the Knesset said on the issue of Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory.

“These territories are where the Jewish nation was born and grew,” he said of the settlements.

For his part, Gantz, a former military chief, made no mention of any possible annexation moves in his ensuing speech.

The two former rivals agreed to a three-year coalition government last month, after more than 500 days of political deadlock and three inconclusive elections in less than a year. Under the power-sharing agreement, Netanyahu will serve 18 months as prime minister and then hand over to Gantz.

The agenda of the new government includes a possible declaration of sovereignty over Jewish settlements and the Jordan Valley in the West Bank – a de facto annexation.

Jordan Hints they’ll Wage War with Israel if Judea-Samaria Annexed

Jordan’s King Abdullah warned of “massive conflict” between his country and Israel if the Jewish state proceeds with annexing territory this summer in Judea and Samaria.

In an interview with the German newspaper Der Spiegel, the Jordanian monarch reiterated that a two-state solution was the “only way forward” as a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.

“What would happen if the Palestinian National Authority collapsed? There would be more chaos and extremism in the region. If Israel really annexed the West Bank in July, it would lead to a massive conflict with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” said Abdullah. …

“I don’t want to make threats and create an atmosphere of loggerheads, but we are considering all options. We agree with many countries in Europe and the international community that the law of strength should not apply in the Middle East,” said the king.

The comments by the Jordanian leader come as several European nations are pushing for punitive action against Israel if the country forges ahead with annexation. E.U. foreign-policy leaders are set to discuss the issue at a virtual meeting on Friday.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a quick visit to Israel this week to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz. Pompeo urged progress on U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan.

Under the plan’s proposal, Israel could push ahead with annexation some 30 percent of territory in Judea and Samaria, which includes Israeli settlements and the Jordan Valley, as part of efforts to resume talks with the Palestinians. https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/150423/jordan-hints-theyll-wage-war-with-israel-if-judea-samaria-annexed/

Palestinian Authority President Abbas threatened to disband the PNA if Israel went through with the annexations (see BI: Abbas Threatens to Dissolve PA If Israel Annexes an Inch of Judea and Samaria). Some have claimed annexation could start a third intifada (rising up violent conflict) in the region (https://www.israeltoday.co.il/read/analysis-why-hasnt-a-third-intifada-broken-out/).

He, and many in Europe, do not believe that Donald Trump’s “Vision for Peace” (which he has referred to as “The deal of the century”) is acceptable.

Israel is also concerned that, annexation aside, that the economic factors may trigger violence:

Israeli security officials fear an outbreak of a new “violent” Intifada in the occupied West Bank due to an economic crisis that would undermine the Palestinian Authority (PA).

Despite the limited spread of the coronavirus in the occupied West Bank, it has had a tangible negative impact on the economy that might be deemed an incentive for an uprising if Israel implements the annexation plan, Israeli security officials fear.

In addition, because of COVID-19, Israel sealed borders and that certainly has resulted in less tourist dollars coming into Palestinian controlled territories.

An Intifada may well cause leaders in Israel and Palestine to look for peace as peace deals tend to come after military conflict.

And, as regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware, Bible prophecy does tell of a temporary peace deal coming to the region in the Book of Daniel:

26 And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate (Daniel 9:26-27).

The biblically-prophesied “prince” to confirm it will be a European leader who is later called the King of the North in Daniel 11:40. The ‘one week’ has generally been understood by prophecy watchers to mean a seven year deal, that is broken in the middle of it (after 3 1/2 years). This break is also confirmed in the following scripture:

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. (Daniel 11:31)

The “him” above is the European King of the North. He may move to Jerusalem to claim to enforce peace, but according to Jesus, that should serve as a warning that it is time to flee:

20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. (Luke 21:20-21)

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:15-22)

Notice also that the armies surrounding Jerusalem and the abomination standing in the holy place will be signals that it is time to flee. But, sadly, most Christians will not accept that sign, probably because of lukewarmness and claims that it is being done for peaceful reasons–plus they hold many prophetic misunderstandings that, unless they change them, will prevent them from seeing what is happening (see Do You Hold to Any of These Laodicean Prophetic Errors?). Annexation will NOT go as well as Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu hopes. Ultimately, the Bible shows that Israel will lose territories to the Palestinians (see Gaza and the Palestinians in Bible Prophecy).

Trump’s Deal of the Century and Daniel 9 27?

On January 28, 2020, the Trump Administration revealed its Mideast peace plan, which Donald Trump has referred to as the ‘deal of the century.’ Could it have prophetic ramifications? Could it be the ‘peace deal’ of Daniel 9:26-27? While many Israeli politicians (such as Benjamin Netanyahu, Benny Gatz, Rafael Minnes) like the deal, various Jewish religious leaders (including the Temple Institute) have raised objections. What have Protestants and the World Council of Churches said about it? Will Jerusalem be divided? Is the USA at risk of troubles (Mark 13:8) and disasters related to this deal? While the architect of the deal, Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner thought he had significant Arab support for the plan, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation rejected it. So, too, has Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as well as Hamas. Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan claimed that he received economic and other threats from the United States for his public objection of the plan. Could Turkey take actions against the USA? Across the country, worries about having enough to eat are adding to the anxiety of millions of people, according to a survey that found 37% of unemployed Americans ran out of food in the past month and 46% said they worried about running out.

Even those who are working often struggle. Two in 10 working adults said that in the past 30 days, they ran out of food before they could earn enough money to buy more. One-quarter worried that would happen.

Those results come from the second wave of the COVID Impact Survey, conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago for the Data Foundation. The survey aims to provide an ongoing assessment of the nation’s mental, physical and financial health during the pandemic.

There is no parallel in U.S. history for the suddenness or severity of the economic collapse, which has cost more than 36 million jobs since the virus struck. The nationwide unemployment rate was 14.7% in April, the highest since the Great Depression. While the US seems to be facing meat shortages, its pork exports to China have soared according to Reuters:

CHICAGO (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump ordered meat processing plants to stay open to protect the nation’s food supply even as workers got sick and died. Yet the plants have increasingly been exporting to China while U.S. consumers face shortages, a Reuters analysis of government data showed.

Trump, who is in an acrimonious public dispute with Beijing over its handling of the coronavirus outbreak, invoked the 1950 Defense Production Act on April 28 to keep plants open. Now he is facing criticism from some lawmakers, consumers and plant employees for putting workers at risk in part to help ensure China’s meat supply.

Meat buyers in China ramped up imports from around the world as a pig disease decimated its herd, the world’s largest, and pushed Chinese pork prices to record highs. Would the USA be willing to sell pork and other consumed items when there are shortages in the USA?

Certainly. The Bible warns that “the borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7), and the USA owes China over USD$1,000,000,000,000.

Some believe that COVID-19 will lead to a depression. And the USA is sending things to China that many eat.

While the Bible does not consider pork to be food fit for human consumption (Leviticus 11:7-8; see also The New Testament Church, History, and Unclean Meats), many people do eat it.

As Susan Duclos had pointed out in this May 12th ANP story, while some Americans are already growing hungry and food banks here are running out of food, we’re still insanely exporting tons and tons of meat to China!! Just think about the monster national security implications of THAT considering that China’s President Xi Jinping recently received an internal memo warning of a possible war with the US due to anti-China sentiments over coronavirus exploding around the world. … why in the world are we still sending meat exports to China when Americans are starving and China is possibly preparing for war against us? Are we simply gluttons for punishment? Does ‘somebody’ want America to lose a future war? And with it long being claimed that a military marches and fights on it’s stomach, the wisdom of America sending our food to China when we might soon be in a war with them absolutely defies common sense. The next thing that truly makes one go Hmmmmmmm….. is the fact that as American grocery stores are limiting the purchase of meats, because processing plants “supposedly” cannot keep up with demand, there appears to be an overabundance  of meat available to be exported to China.  …

Not enough meat to supply grocery stores here in America, therefore we must limit our purchases unless buying locally from smaller stores, yet plenty being processed to send to other countries. The whole purpose of the 1950 Defense Production Act that President Trump invoked in late April, was to keep food on Americans’ tables. 

Simply put, after reading that, if a war is ahead with China, Americans are being set up for the kill. …

The Bible also predicts food inflation. With the ride of the third horseman of the Apocalypse, Revelation 6:5-6 shows that there will be food, but that it will be quite expensive (food-price inflation):

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

Although the third horseman’s ride has not yet begun, as it follows the second horseman of war whose ride also has not quite begun, the USA reported a great rise in food inflation for last month:

US grocery costs jump the most in 46 years …

• The Labor Department reported Tuesday that prices U.S. consumers paid for groceries jumped 2.6% in April, the largest one-month pop since February 1974.

The black horseman’s future ride will reduce the proud faces of white America, Europe, and the British Common wealth into the blackened skin of starvation such as now afflicts the vast majority of mankind. Notice some of the penalties for disobedience recorded in the 26th chapter of Leviticus: “If after all this you have not learnt discipline but still defy me, I in turn will defy you and scourge you seven times over for your sins. I will bring war in vengeance upon you … you shall be herded into your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be given over to the enemy. I will cut short your daily bread until ten women can bake your bread in a single oven; they shall dole it out by weight [see Revelation 6:5-6], and though you eat, you shall not be satisfied. If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still defy me, I will defy you in anger, and I myself will punish you seven times over for your sins. Instead of meat you shall eat your sons and daughters” (Lev. 26:23-28, The New English Bible). Other passages warn of famine-producing upsets in weather (Amos 4:7, Deut. 28:24); ruined harvests (Ezek. 5:16, Deut. 28:17); blighted crops (Amos 4:9); harmful insect pests (Deut. 28:39, 42); and nonproductive soil (Deut. 28:23). Now, another contributing factor to China buying more pork from the USA is because it is buying less meat from Australia, essentially to punish it for saying it wanted to look into the origin, etc. of COVID-19:

China Suspends Australian Meat Imports

China has suspended imports from four major Australian meat firms, escalating a quarrel between the two countries over the origins of the novel coronavirus. Speaking at a press conference, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zhao Lijian said the suspension was not connected to the dispute but was instead a matter of regulation—and then went on to issue further economic threats against Australia. The warnings are backed up by increasingly belligerent editorials in state media.

The dispute began with the Australian government’s call for an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus. China has reacted strongly against allowing a transparent, multilateral probe in Wuhan and acted to impede Chinese investigators. That could be a sign that there’s something to hide—whether sloppy regulation of the wildlife trade or even a biosafety accident. China can destabilize the economy of Australia, while increasing food inflation in the USA.

How bad will it get for the USA and its British descended allies like the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand?

Notice the following from the Book of Ezekiel:

9 And I will do among you what I have never done, and the like of which I will never do again, because of all your abominations. 10 Therefore fathers shall eat their sons in your midst, and sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments among you, and all of you who remain I will scatter to all the winds.

11 ‘Therefore, as I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘surely, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; My eye will not spare, nor will I have any pity. 12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.  (Ezekiel 5:9-12)

Yes, the time will come when the Americans and British-descended peoples will starve and the Chinese will eat.

The world order is going to change.

Notice a prophecy showing that the great will be betrayed by friends:

1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces
Has become a slave!

2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. (Lamentations 1:1-2)

The Bible shows that the fortresses of the USA in Daniel 11:39 and the fortresses of the British peoples in Isaiah 17:3 will be gone–the defeat will come primarily from those considered to be ‘friends’ in Europe.

Notice what else Lamentations warns about:

11 All her people sigh,
They seek bread;
They have given their valuables for food to restore life. (Lamentations 1:11a)

12 They say to their mothers,
“Where is grain and wine?” (Lamentations 2:12)

4 The tongue of the infant clings
To the roof of its mouth for thirst;
The young children ask for bread,
But no one breaks it for them.

5 Those who ate delicacies
Are desolate in the streets;
Those who were brought up in scarlet
Embrace ash heaps. (Lamentations 4:4-5)

9 Those slain by the sword are better off
Than those who die of hunger;
For these pine away,
Stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.

10 The hands of the compassionate women
Have cooked their own children;
They became food for them
In the destruction of the daughter of my people. (Lamentations 4:9-10)

Terrible famines are coming! Those who were food rich will be starving!  Mothers will eat their own children!

The Anglo-American order will, relatively soon, be gone.

Do not think things will continue indefinitely as they have.

Remember Jesus said:

11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. (Luke 21:11)

36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:36)

You should not only PRAY to be accounted worthy, but you need to take steps to help insure that you are.

The prophetic reality is that MOST Christians in the end times will NOT “be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass.”

Famine is coming. Will you believe the word of God and act on the truths it contains?
