Iran’s Khamenei vows to block USA influence as USA Congress considers the nuclear deal

Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei made more public comments about the USA, while his supporters cried out for its death:

WASHINGTON—Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowed that even if a nuclear deal goes through, Iran will not open its doors to foreign influence. Khamenei’s feisty speech Monday came as Iran’s chief negotiator worked to solidify an agreement that for Iran will mean relief from crippling economic sanctions as it accepts curbs and monitoring meant to block it from developing a nuclear weapon.

Ayatollah Khamenei addressed a crowd in Tehran Monday that included members of the press.

“They thought this deal – and it is not clear if it will be passed in Iran or in America – would open up Iran to their influence. We blocked this path and will definitely block it in the future,” he said.

Khamenei’s speech was interspersed with his audience chanting calls for death to America, Israel and Britain. Israel’s government and many U.S. lawmakers fiercely oppose a deal with Tehran because of its support for terrorist groups that have attacked Israel. The cleric’s defiant remarks Monday gave fodder to those who argue that easing economic sanctions against Iran would enable it to expand such influence.

Iran had hoped that the West wanted a deal so badly that it would make a deal closer to what Iran wanted–and it has. The deal agreed to last month will give Iran access to about 90-150 billion dollars of frozen assets that Iran can use again. Some of those assets will likely be used for its economy and to partially deal with the Islamic State, but other funds will likely go to terrorist groups and other groups that oppose the USA and/or Israel.

Of course, the deal still is before the Congress of the USA and its President Obama (and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton) has pushed for the deal. Here is a view about Iran and the deal from Ben Kinchlow:

President Obama made an interesting statement in his Aug. 5 speech. He compared the anti-American hardliners in Iran to those members of the U.S. Congress who oppose his agreement.

Remember, he said, “In fact, it’s those [Iranian] hardliners who are most comfortable with the status quo. It’s those hardliners chanting ‘Death to America!’ who have been most opposed to the deal. They’re making common cause with the Republican Caucus” (emphasis added).

Those who oppose the agreement have “common cause” with terrorists?

I guess Obama would feel more at home and have “common cause” with those Iranian leaders who have publicly supported his deal with Iran. It does make you wonder, though, when you look into what some of the supporters of the deal had to say, people who apparently have “common cause” with this administration.

The following are some statements by several Iranian leaders who are “supporters” of the Obama deal:

“Saying ‘Death to America!‘ is easy. We need to express ‘Death to America!‘ with action” (“Moderate” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, May 2013).

“Of course, yes, death to America!” (Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, March 2015).

“Our policies toward the arrogant government of the United States will not be changed at all” (Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei, July 2015 statement made after the deal was announced).

“If a day comes when the world of Islam is duly equipped with the arms Israel has in possession, the strategy of colonialism would face a stalemate because application of an atomic bomb would not leave anything in Israel but the same thing would just produce damages in the Muslim world” (“moderate” former Iranian President Rafsanjani, December 2001).

Now let me get this straight: If, as an American, you oppose the deal, you are in league with the “Iranian hardliners,” but if you support the deal, you are in agreement with those who wish to destroy America and Israel?

I thought we were looking for a means to stop Iran from attaining nuclear weapons. Apparently, in the Obama administration, there is an entirely different meaning to Iran’s attainment of nukes. Let me reiterate: Israel is well aware of Iranian President Rafsanjani’s (and much of the Muslim world’s) view of the use of nuclear weapons in the Middle East – the total annihilation of Israel vs. “damages in the Muslim world.” Death suffered by the faithful in a war with “unbelievers” is a destiny to be sought. Iran’s top leader clearly has an anti-USA view. I believe that with the deal, the world risks having another war in the most volatile region in the world.

Many in the US Congress oppose the proposed deal. However, if they vote it down, they would apparently need a two-third’s majority to override a likely presidential veto. If the US Congress does get a 2/3rds majority and goes against UN approval for the deal (which already has happened, see UN approves Iran deal, US tells Israel it may need to agree to disagree), this will make the USA look bad on the world scene.

So, what will happen with Iran? What does it really want?

Iran wants to takeover Jerusalem and lead the Islamic world. It then wants to takeover the world. It would prefer to knock out the USA whenever it can and it believes that mystical powers will allow it to do that. Notice the following:

Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei…told Iranians in July 2010 that he personally met with the Twelfth Imam. He also claimed to be the personal representative of the Mahdi on earth…

By most accounts, Shia scholars believe the Mahdi will first appear in Mecca and conquer the Middle East, then establish the headquarters of his global Islamic government—or caliphate—in Iraq. But there is not universal agreement. Some believe he will emerge from the well at the Jamkaran Mosque in Iran and then travel to Mecca and Iraq. Some say that he will conquer Jerusalem before establishing his caliphate in Iraq. Others believe Jerusalem must be conquered as a prerequisite to his return.

None of this is actually written in the Kuran, and Sunnis reject this eschatology.

But one thing that is fairly well agreed upon among devout “Twelvers” is that the Mahdi will end apostasy and purify corruption within Islam. He is expected to conquer the Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, Syria, “Palestine,” Egypt and North Africa, and eventually the entire world. (Rosenberg J. “Yes the Mahdi will communicate with the djinns,” Oktar says in the film. “Mahdi is the leader of both djinns and men. Muslim djinns, djinns that believe in God, will assist the Muslims in making Muslims prevail throughout the world.”

Oktar goes on to explain that the Mahdi will rule for seven years, which eerily resembles the reign of another character that the Bible warns Christians to beware of in the last days. (Hohmann L. The Iranian version of the Imam Mahdi involves someone supposedly over 1300 years old. Iran believes a combination of military strength, religion, and mystic influence will cause it to prevail over the West.

As I have written before, the time may well come when Iran ‘overplays its hand.’ We in the Continuing Church of God do not believe that Iran will be the final King of the South of Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). Because of that, I have tended to believe that Iran may somehow get “neutralized” before this final king rises up. And it may be that provoking some type of conflict with Israel (through an attack or through simply possessing nuclear bombs) and/or the USA, etc. Since no later than May of 2010, I have been writing that since Iran cannot be the final King of the South that it may be neutralized (see Iran Slams Russia). If it overplays its hand, it may well be neutralized.

Although Iran wants to dominate the Islamic world, Bible prophecy shows that it will not. But, because leaders like its past and current presidents credit a non-existent Imam Mahdi for various events and its Supreme Leader has claimed to actually speak to him, the regime in Iran must be considered unstable and capable of taking steps that would seem illogical to outsiders.

This makes Iran dangerous. Iran may well damage Israel (Isaiah 22:1-14) and even the USA. But that will not end well for Iran (cf. Jeremiah 49:34-38).

Notice the following prophecy which indicates at least part of Iran’s destruction before the latter days:

34 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, 35 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.
36 Against Elam I will bring the four winds
From the four quarters of heaven,
And scatter them toward all those winds;
There shall be no nations where the outcasts of Elam will not go.
37 For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies
And before those who seek their life.
I will bring disaster upon them,
My fierce anger,’ says the Lord;
‘And I will send the sword after them
Until I have consumed them.
38 I will set My throne in Elam,
And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.

39 ‘But it shall come to pass in the latter days:
I will bring back the captives of Elam,’ says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 49:34-39)

At this moment, the Obama Administration is trying to tell everyone what a great deal it made with Iran while Iran keeps making statements against the USA.

While a temporary peace will come to the Middle East (cf. Daniel 9:27, see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27), this deal is not that one. However, let me add that the fact that it has a time element to it, in that sense will help set a precedent for a time period like the one for Daniel 9:27. Daniel 9:27 could be, for example, a ten-year deal, that is ‘confirmed’ after three years (or an eight year deal confirmed after one, etc.).

Anyway, despite the proposed deal with Iran, expect more conflict in the Middle East for a time.
