CERN made another announcement about Higgs boson and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC):

Researchers at the CERN particle accelerator have found “intriguing hints” of the Higgs boson, a moment of major progress in years of previously unfruitful searching for the elusive subatomic particle…

If the Higgs boson is precisely measured in the next year, the LHC can be used to look further down the same pathway, Tonelli added, possibly finding supersymmetric particles–“if they are in the energy range of the LHC.”

Such particles would likely be vastly heavier–many thousands, perhaps millions, of GeVs, he said.

That would be quite a coup: supersymmetric particles are a possible explanation for dark matter, material that in the universe outweighs the ordinary matter of which we’re made but that generally interacts with ordinary matter only through gravitational pull.  http://news.cnet.com/8301-30685_3-57342044-264/cern-physicists-find-hint-of-higgs-boson/

Wikipedia states that “dark matter is matter that neither emits nor scatters light or other electromagnetic radiation, and so cannot be directly detected via optical or radio astronomy.”  It is my opinion that more knowledge of dark matter, antimatter, and some other not highly now well understood aspects of foundational physics will have significant military potential (cf. Revelation 13:4).

The CERN project continues to advance, and is apparently the biggest physics project in the world–and of course, it is a European, not American, project. Large physics projects tend to produce military weaponry. The LHC has already captured antimatter for periods of time thought longer than possible as late as last year (CERN Makes Major Strides with Antimatter).

My book also discusses the destruction of the USA and certain others by the Europeans sometime after 2012.  In 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect the Large Hadron Collider is discussed as one of the items that after 2012 may provide the Europeans with the ability to overcome the USA’s military might. And while many think that this would be impossible, as the Europeans continue to uncover “impossible” and difficult aspects of physics, it is getting more and more technology that could be developed in that direction.

The understanding of the Living Church of God that the Europeans will be able to attack and takeover the United States and its Anglo-descended allies (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 11:39) is correct and will come to pass. And it appears, to me at least, possible that the successes and intended expansion of the CERN LHC may assist in the fulfillment of those prophecies.

Eurozone Crisis: Lurching Towards The Brink

Because EU rules state that any new legislation must be ratified by all 27 nations, Cameron’s veto effectively rendered the treaty void. Feeling threatened by the direction and intentions of the German- and French-dominated EU, Cameron felt he could not recommend the newly drafted treaty to his country, especially while Britain was facing the threat of new EU-imposed taxes that would have hobbled London as a world financial center.

Many EU nations saw the veto as a selfish betrayal of the EU’s wider interests at a time when the Union’s very survival is threatened by the collapse of the euro and the increasing tensions between member nations. French President Nicolas Sarkozy pointedly accused Cameron of intransigence and of wrecking the summit.

But did Cameron’s veto really nix the treaty? After discussions stretching into the early morning hours on Friday, EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy proposed that the treaty go ahead anyway, bypassing existing EU legal structures. Ratification, he said, would instead be provided by the 17 members of the Eurozone, as well as by any other member countries that supported the aims of the summit. In the hours that followed, all of the remaining 26 EU member nations eventually signed up for the new treaty, leaving the UK isolated and alone.

Shocking as it may seem, all of these events are actually little more than a sideshow. The real issue behind the summit was the very survival of the Eurozone. Knowledgeable observers recognize that the crisis has been caused not by Britain, but rather by structural and systemic problems inherent in the very design of the euro system. Regrettably, despite bitter charges being leveled, very little was actually done at the summit to address the real cause of the EU problems; participants merely tinkered with the symptoms.

The new treaty is touted as a means to provide for fiscal union, but the measures taken do not remotely suffice. There is no lender of last resort to whom EU countries can turn, nor a EU treasury to care for the euro (the European Central Bank is currently denied that role). There is no shared budget, nor joint debt issuance to cover a nation’s indebtedness, a prospect that offends German sensibilities. There are no plans for growth that would allow countries to pay off their debts. And there remains a fixed exchange rate across the entire union, creating massive trade and capital flow imbalances between north and south, with only more and more austerity offered to southern nations as a solution. And all this is happening as the world economy slides towards a new recession.

In this harsh light of reality, the Eurozone crisis looks set to continue into the new year and beyond, with a growing odds-on potential for a massive “Euroquake” implosion—a disorderly market-driven break up of monetary union, with incalculably damaging results for Europe and the world economy. A large black hole is opening up and the Eurozone is lurching inexorably towards the brink!

Where are these events in Europe leading? What is their prophetic significance? Biblical prophecy points towards seismic political and economic events taking place in Europe, with a fundamental realignment of European nations leaving Britain on the outside. Ultimately, a new European “treaty” will be needed, as the Bible shows that there will be a reorganization in Europe (of course, there may be many new treaties or changes to the current one–and the meeting this week may at least contain changes to the current Lisbon Treaty, at least as to how it was originally supposed to have been understood). The Bible shows that ultimately, a major dictator (and I do not anticipate at this time that it will be Herman van Rompuy) will rise up and rule end time Babylon (Revelation 17:1-13), the final King of the North, European Beast power of Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:40).

The decision by UK Prime Minister Cameron is being called a type of disaster:

“There’s not a lot of goodwill towards the U.K. at the moment,” Robin Niblett, director of the Chatham House foreign- affairs research group in London, said in a telephone interview. “There will be some bad blood towards British diplomats in the near term.”

Cameron refused at a Dec. 8-9 summit to back a 27-nation fiscal pact without ironclad guarantees of a British veto right over future financial regulations, saying they posed a threat to London’s standing as Europe’s leading financial center. And while Europe is not yet ready to become the final King of the North, we in the Living Church of God have long taught that the United Kingdom would be taken over by it and not part of it:

Interestingly, the Bible indicates that Britain will NOT be part of this final Roman system. Even now, there are misgivings among the British leadership and among the population at large about the approach to a complete union with Europe. (Meredith RC. Is the “Beast” Awakening? The English-speaking nations will not prosper for long in connection with this system, however. In fact, they will ultimately be overpowered and destroyed by it militarily. Prior to military attack and occupation, devastating weather problems, combined with internal civil strife (“tumults in the midst” cf. The United Kingdom, as is, will not be part of the ten kingdoms (individual nations and/or groups of nations) that will give their power to the Beast in Revelation 17 (the UK’s power will ultimately be taken away). Perhaps it should be mentioned that the general position within the Churches of God is that Britain will not remain in the EU and will pull out at some point. (Thiel B. It should be understood that ultimately, Britain will NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power–yet its former Prime Minister is promoting something that will not help the peoples of the UK. Bible prophecy clearly shows that Britain will not be one of the TEN NATIONS comprising the final United States of Europe (McNair R. A Strong United Europe. Tomorrow’s World, February 1970, p. 17).

These recent news items are supportive of our views here.  The United Kingdom, as is, will not be part of the ten kingdoms (individual nations and/or groups of nations) that will give their power to the Beast in Revelation 17 (the UK’s power will ultimately be taken away).

It seems like, at least weekly if not more often (and daily the past several days), there are items in the international press that support the view that the UK will not be part of the final European formation as anything like an equal partner.

Bible prophecy shows that it lands (like those of the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) will apparently be conquered by the power that will arise in Europe (cf. Daniel 11:39).

Prime Minister Cameron’s decision is simply not something that EU leaders like Herman Van Rompuy wish to accept–and this will cause the UK problems, and not just in the short-run.

The Indian ocean located Seychelles is in the news today for two different military reasons:

U.S. Drone Crashes in Seychelles Amid Dispute With Iran

A U.S. drone has crashed in the island nation of Seychelles, an incident that comes just over a week after a U.S. drone went down in Iran.

There was a two-hour documentary about China on a cable station a few nights ago.  Basically, it seemed to conclude that the Chinese have better political system to deal with long-term issues than the type of democracy that the USA has.  The conclusions of the participants seemed to be that China is serious about becoming a major player in the world and unless the USA can figure out massive technological advances in the future, China would surpass it in many areas.

The reality is that much of what China itself appears to be doing is consistent with what the late Deng Xiaoping once expressed,

China must hide brightness and nourish obscurity . . . to bide our time and build up our capabilities (Source: Times Online).

China as been increasing its influence, and the Bible indicates it will have an important role in the end time–though not nearly the way the leadership of China now seems to want.  One of the things that most Westerners do not realize is that China has a system that prevents those from agrarian areas from having the same rights as those in urban areas.  Even people who move from agrarian regions to the cities, still are registered as agrarian and do not get the same rights or even education for their children.  This disparity, combined with severe pollution, corruption, and a host of other problems, will affect China more than most realize.

As for the Seychelles, it is interesting that they seem to be hedging their bets.  They have a US military presence and now want to allow a Chinese naval presence.  And while having both will not be permanent, ultimately the Seychelles may decide that it needs to ally closer with China, and potentially Europe.

“Beware India!” shouts the headline in one Indian paper.

“China to open first military base in Indian Ocean.”

Nothing to worry about, says the defence ministry in Beijing. The base – in the Seychelles – is just for supplying passing Chinese navy ships.

Yes, many in India are concerned about China and its growth, as well as this latest likely naval presence in the Seychelles.  But ultimately, I suspect that Bible prophecy shows that India will cooperate with China as one of the Kings of the East (Revelation 16:12) that will supply a massive army (Revelation 9:13-20).

Although most will apparently come by land, potentially, if portions of the 200 million man army from the East that the Book of Revelation prophecies (Revelation 9:13-20) will head to the Middle East via ship, some may stop and refuel at the Seychelles.  And unless the Seychelles later teams up very closely with Europe, the likely agreement with China could facilitate the transport of the 200 million man army or at least facilitate logistical supplies for that army.

New Job for Guttenberg

Brussels (dpa) – An ex-Minister Guttenberg returns to the political scene – but only for the time being the EU Commission in Brussels…Guttenberg said on Monday in Brussels: “This is not a political comeback. I went to the U.S. and I do not plan to return in the next few weeks or months”…

He added: “I’m going to use my wide range of contacts that I gained during my tenure policy in foreign affairs, security and economic affairs, to meet the protagonists.”

Regular readers of this page know that I have been following Baron Guttenberg and believe that he is one to watch to potentially be the final King of the North of Daniel 11, the final head of the Beast of the sea of Revelation 13.  I would suggest that despite his semi-denial, this is another step in the process of a political comeback for Karl zu Guttenberg.

I, as well as LCG, wrote back in March of this year that Herr Guttenberg should be watched for possible re-emergence in the political arena. And this is one more step by him confirming those speculations.  Notice something that I posted a few days ago (see Guttenberg Makes Return to EU Politics in Brussels):

If Karl zu Guttenberg is the one to become the final King of the North of Daniel 11, he will further re-emerge as a force in European politics–this is something that I am now, and have been for some time, watching for. And yes, I also suspect that he will have some disappointments on the way, but that does not change what I feel may happen with him.

The final Beast will ultimately become the political leader of Europe. And according to the Bible, he will have military abilities (Revelation 13:1-4) and apparently be popular and charismatic (cf. Daniel 7:20,11:21-24,31; Revelation 13:3-5).

As well as something I have written before, but most recently yesterday at the Examiner.com (Guttenberg re-emerging: Reasons he might be the prophesied King of the North):

1. Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is a leader from middle Europe and has a Franco-German/Assyrian bloodline. (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 7:24)
2. He has a military background.  The Beast of Revelation 13:1-4 is shown to be a military political leader.
3. He is considered to have some economic expertise. (cf. Daniel 8:25; 11:24; Revelation 13:16-17; 18:3)
4. He is an extremely popular politician (he was the most popular in Germany in early and late 2010). (Revelation 13:4,8)

The Baron has just confirmed that he believes that he has military expertise, economic expertise, has political connections, and is popular with enough to help Europe now.

And while this appointment is a relatively minor reemergence in EU politics, it is a reemergence, none-the-less.  While I do not  yet 100% know if the Baron is the final King of the North, he continues to take steps consistent with what I feel that prophecy foretells of such a leader (see also Guttenberg re-emerging: Reasons he might be the prophesied King of the North).

The final Beast will ultimately become the political leader of Europe. And according to the Bible, he will have military abilities (Revelation 13:1-4) and apparently be popular and charismatic (cf. Daniel 7:20,11:21-24,31; Revelation 13:3-5). Baron Guttenberg has displayed confirming characteristics.

He is one we all should watch (cf. Mark 13:37).

The “hope” that the Muslim Brotherhood has is expanding its power to form a multi-national Islamic caliphate with an Imam in charge of it, plus it is negative towards Israel and the USA:

“The Islamic nation,” its charter states, “must be fully prepared to fight the tyrants and the enemies of Allah as a prelude to establishing an Islamic state”—ideally a re-established caliphate, stretching from Spain across the Middle East and Central Asia to Indonesia, to be governed according to Islamic sharia law…

What is its stance toward Israel and the U.S.?
Unremittingly negative.

The formation of such an Islamic confederation with an Imam was predicted on pages 131-134 of my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect because Bible prophecy tells of the rising up of a final King of the South.  The pull-out of US troops in Iraq that President Obama spoke warmly about today (CBS headline: Obama: We leave Iraq with “heads held high”), in my view, is also a step that will partially allow this confederation to form (also, as I have been warning for years, civil war may break out in Iraq after the US troops leave, especially if they do not come back in).

Tunisian Pledges a New Caliphate

Secular Tunisians are expressing concerns after a leader of the country’s Islamist Al-Nahda movement said Tunisia’s emerging government marks “the Sixth Righteous Caliphate”…In a speech posted on YouTube Sunday, Hamadi Jbeli also pledged that “we shall set forth with God’s help to conquer Jerusalem, if Allah wills… From here is conquest with the help of Allah Almighty.”

The success of Islamic parties with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and elsewhere confirm another prediction in my 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect book.  Thus, world events have now aligned with at least 20 biblically-based predictions since the book was released in September 2009.  More events will as well.

Jesus warned that the time would come when Jerusalem will be surrounded by armies.  And while this still is a future event (and yes, there have been related fulfillments in the past), the fact that many Arab nations want to take Jerusalem back from the Jews indicates that they will be willing to do much in order to do so (though, bibically, they will not quite succeed as they truly want per Daniel 11:31-43).

Yet despite inflammatory statements from Egypt and Tunisia, certain Western countries, like the USA, have cautiously supported the Muslim Brotherhood (see Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Satisfies US Government). The public reason for that seems to be that the Muslim Brotherhood is considered to be easier to work with and more “moderate” than Islamist groups like the Al Noor Salafi Movement.

However, it should be clear that, as a rule, Islamist groups want an Islamic empire (called a caliphate) that will require its subjects to have less secular choices than the non-Islamist party backers want.  The “liberals” in the Arab nations that work with the Muslim Brotherhood and related organizations will find that they are assisting in the rising up of a transnational Islamic power.  The fact that the Muslim Brotherhood appears less extreme, does not mean that its objectives are those the nations like the USA want it to attain.

Notice also the following from the Living Church of God:

Right now…various Islamist groups—often foolishly called “moderate” by the mainstream media—are coming to power in Egypt, Tunisia and other African and Middle Eastern nations after the uprisings of the “Arab Spring.” The prophesied “King of the South” will soon emerge as these nations seek a “Mahdi”—a powerful religio/poltical leader who will bring them together under Islam. This “King of the South” predicted in Daniel 11:40 will no doubt be headquartered in Egypt or Saudi Arabia, not in Iran as some confused people foolishly predict. (Meredith RC. Morocco was one of the more moderate Western-leaning Islamic lands and it is now becoming more supportive of Islamic goals, while the likely next prime minister of Tunisia announced last month that he believes that the caliphate has just begun (see Tunisia’s Expected Prime Minister Claims to be part of the Sixth Caliphate). And since we in the Living Church of God believe that Egypt is likely to be a major player in this (cf. also Daniel 11:42; Ezekiel 30:1-9,), as the election results suggest that Egypt is moving towards its prophesied role.

The Bible shows that a time is coming when the confederation with Egypt will be destroyed and it is in the FUTURE:

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“‘Wail and say,
“Alas for that day!”
3 For the day is near,
the day of the LORD is near-
a day of clouds,
a time of doom for the nations.
4 A sword will come against Egypt,
and anguish will come upon Cush.
When the slain fall in Egypt,
her wealth will be carried away
and her foundations torn down.

5 Cush and Put, Lydia and all Arabia, Libya and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.

6 “‘This is what the LORD says:

“‘The allies of Egypt will fall
and her proud strength will fail.
From Migdol to Aswan
they will fall by the sword within her,
declares the Sovereign LORD.

7 “‘They will be desolate
among desolate lands,
and their cities will lie
among ruined cities.
8 Then they will know that I am the LORD,
when I set fire to Egypt
and all her helpers are crushed.

9 “‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come (Ezekiel 30:1-9, NIV).

And this seems to be the destruction of the King of the South by the King of the North in Daniel 11:40-43.

As there already is a flag for the Arab League, the idea within the Arab world that some type of confederation is a good idea exists even amongst many of the more secular Arabs. The Arab League has mainly currently turned away from Syria. Syria is a nation whose capital Damascus is prophesied to see destruction (Isaiah 17:1), and such destruction may precede Syria’s coming back into the Arab League fold much more closely (despite their views towards Assad, many in Syria favor an Islamic confederation as well as the taking over of Jerusalem). Some Islamic prophecy supports the idea that the King of the South may end up in Damascus, and this may be consistent with certain biblical prophecy (Jeremiah 49:24-27)–but the verses in Jeremiah might instead happen about when or after Damascus is eliminated (Isaiah 17:1)–we will see.

We are getting closer for an Islamic confederation to form consistent with the biblical prophecies about the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40). However, somewhat like the final Beast/King of the North power (Daniel 11:41-42), it looks like the Bible teaches that there will be some fragility and lack of total cohesiveness as the King of the South will apparently not be totally unified (cf. Daniel 11:42; 11:26).

The results of the elections in the Arab nations for Jerusalem suggest that the Arabs do want Jerusalem to become part of the Arab confederation, and perhaps, as an interim step to get there, I suspect that the Arabs will ultimately accept the seven-year deal mentioned in Daniel 9:26-27 as a step in that direction (especially if there is an unsuccessful military attempt by Iran, Syria, and perhaps parts of Lebanon to get Jerusalem and/or attack Israel).

Before that deal is 1/2 over (and possibly even before it is entered into), the final King of the South will appear.

As Jesus said, “Watch” (Mark 13:37).

Jesus also said, “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.” (Luke 12:37).

There were killer tornadoes ripping through cities, flooding in the north east and mid west, plus high heat, drought and wildfires in Texas. Not to mention earthquakes, hurricanes and tropical storms.

There was so much extreme weather it was as though America lurched from one natural disaster to another throughout 2011.

Now all that weather has been charted on one fascinating map drawn up by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Many parts of the USA and Mexico are suffering from drought (see also TW Reports on Oklahoma Drought) as are parts of Africa and other lands. Droughts and floods contribute to food shortages, natural disasters like wild fires, higher food prices, and sometimes famines.

My 2009 book, 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect mentioned the following was about to happen:

The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. It is the beginning of sorrows

The report from the NRDC basically confirms another biblically-based prediction in my 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect book.  This means that world events have so far aligned with at least 19 or 20 predictions in 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect.  More world events will as well.

Perhaps the record weather problems can serve as another wake-up call. As my book indicated, weather-related troubles with their related food issues, of course, are biblically expected:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

Much is going on that we in the Living Church of God have expected would happen.  For example, LCG’s  Dr. Roderick C. Meredith years ago wrote a booklet related to coming weather problems titled Who Controls the Weather?

Now there is good news as ultimately, God’s kingdom will come and those issues will be gone:

16 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. (Revelation 7:16-17)

And while that is true, a terrible hour of trial is coming first (Revelation 3:10), and the USA itself (as well as Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand also) will experience significant starvation in its land (cf. Ezekiel 5:15-17).  And prior to that, we should expect to see higher food prices (cf. Revelation 6:5-6).

Boy with Whooping Cough

The latest TW News & Prophecy e-zine from the Living Church of God contains the following:

Whooping cough outbreak in Illinois.

As of last Monday, the whooping cough (pertussis) outbreak in three Illinois counties included more than 500 diagnosed cases. Public health officials say the actual number of cases is much higher, but that the 500 represent solely “medically diagnosed” cases. In McHenry County alone there were 172 cases on Monday–up from just nine cases during the entirety of last year. Officials do not know the exact reason for the outbreak.

Whooping cough is a bronchial disease that claimed thousands of lives annually in the U.S. prior to the advent of the pertussis vaccine in the 1930s. For infants, the disease is lethal in more than 80% of cases. Last year, a similar outbreak caused the death of ten infants in California, and more than 9,000 cases of infection (ABCNews.com, December 6, 2011).

The Bible is full of public health directives given from the Almighty God, including recommendations for quarantining sick individuals (see Leviticus 13- 14). When followed, these lovingly-given statutes actually help prevent or lessen disease severity and duration.

Additionally, we should expect to see more disease outbreaks like the one in Illinois–and more deadly ones–as we approach the end of the age. Christ prophesied that one of the signs of the end of the age would be pestilences (Luke 21:11), and that these pestilences (plagues or diseases) would be just the “beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:8).

Infection, like pertussis, may be part of the pestilences that the Bible warned about for the end times. Jesus taught:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:6-8)

We seem to be in the time Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows”.  There have been “earthquakes in various places” this year. There are some famines and they may increase soon. Candida, other fungi, bacteria, and viruses are not the only pestilences starting to rise up either.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Here are two news items on the European economic crisis to mention:

Dec. 11 (Bloomberg) — European leaders pressed the case that a new fiscal accord will deliver the region from its two- year debt crisis, as Germany’s top central banker cooled speculation the European Central Bank will extend its role.

The post-crisis single currency will be “more robust” following the Dec. 9 agreement to strengthen budget rules, Finland’s Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen told YLE Radio Suomi. Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung that while the new accord represents progress, the onus is on governments rather than the Frankfurt- based ECB to resolve the crisis with financial backing.http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2011/12/11/bloomberg_articlesLW1ULK0YHQ0X.DTL#ixzz1gG4y1IlQ

LONDON (AP) – Deep cracks are emerging in Britain’s coalition government, with one of its top officials lashing out at Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday for deciding to block European Union treaty changes designed to save the euro.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg called the decision “bad for Britain” and said he is “bitterly disappointed” over the outcome of last week’s EU summit during which Britain was the only nation to reject a tighter fiscal alliance in the bloc aimed at ending Europe’s worst financial crisis in generations.  http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/story/2011-12-11/europe-financial-crisis/51811684/1

Ultimately, a new European “treaty” will be needed, so we will see how long and how well the proposed one might last.  And ultimately, as we in the Living Church of God have long taught, the United Kingdom will not be part of it (at least not as a almost co-equal member).

The Bible shows that despite weakness (Daniel 11:41-43) there will be a reorganization in Europe. The Bible also shows that ultimately, a major dictator (and the person I currently suspect for that role currently holds no official government office) will rise up and rule end time Babylon (Revelation 17:1-13), the final King of the North, European Beast power of Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:40).

And while Europe is not yet ready to become the final King of the North, we in the Living Church of God have long taught that it will be–and that this final European leader will be much worse for the USA and its Anglo-descended allies (Daniel 11:39) than what a collapse of the Euro could directly bring.

The early Catholic Church did not celebrate Christmas. Furthermore, Tertullian (one of its leading 2nd/3rd century writers) warned that to participate in the winter celebrations made one beholding to pagan gods.

Notice what Tertullian wrote about winter celebrations, such as Saturnalia (from a pagan deity whose name meant plentiful):

The Minervalia are as much Minerva’s, as the Saturnalia Saturn’s; Saturn’s, which must necessarily be celebrated even by little slaves at the time of the Saturnalia. New-year’s gifts likewise must be caught at, and the Septimontium kept; and all the presents of Midwinter and the feast of Dear Kinsmanship must be exacted; the schools must be wreathed with flowers; the flamens’ wives and the aediles sacrifice; the school is honoured on the appointed holy-days. The same thing takes place on an idol’s birthday; every pomp of the devil is frequented. Who will think that these things are befitting to a Christian master, unless it be he who shall think them suitable likewise to one who is not a master? (Tertullian. On Idolatry, Chapter X. The World Book Encyclopedia notes,

In 354 A.D., Bishop Liberius of Rome ordered the people to celebrate on December 25. He probably chose this date because the people of Rome already observed it as the Feast of Saturn, celebrating the birthday of the sun (Sechrist E.H. Christmas. World Book Encyclopedia, Volume 3. Field Enterprises Educational Corporation, Chicago, 1966, pp. 408-417).

While most people equate the Christmas-New Year’s season with family gatherings, gifts, parties, and religious stories, a pagan worship season called Saturnalia is its basis.

The Apostles and their immediate real converts did not celebrate Christmas, New Year’s, or even birthdays.

The Catholic Encyclopedia correctly teaches that:

Mithraism A pagan religion consisting mainly of the cult of the ancient Indo-Iranian Sun-god Mithra. Furthermore, here is even more that The Catholic Encyclopedia admits about Christmas:

Christmas…Irenaeus and Tertullian omit it from their lists of feasts; Origen, glancing perhaps at the discreditable imperial Natalitia, asserts (in Lev. Hom. viii in Migne, P.G., XII, 495) that in the Scriptures sinners alone, not saints, celebrate their birthday; Arnobius (VII, 32 in P.L., V, 1264) can still ridicule the “birthdays” of the gods.

Alexandria. The first evidence of the feast is from Egypt. About A.D. 200, Clement of Alexandria (Strom., I, xxi in P.G., VIII, 888) says that certain Egyptian theologians “over curiously” assign, not the year alone, but the day of Christ’s birth, placing it on 25 Pachon (20 May) in the twenty-eighth year of Augustus…

Cyprus, Mesopotamia, Armenia, Asia Minor. In Cyprus, at the end of the fourth century, Epiphanius asserts against the Alogi (Hær., li, 16, 24 in P. G., XLI, 919, 931) that Christ was born on 6 January…

Rome. At Rome the earliest evidence is in the Philocalian Calendar (P. L., XIII, 675; it can be seen as a whole in J. Strzygowski, Kalenderbilder des Chron. von Jahre 354, Berlin, 1888), compiled in 354, which contains three important entries. In the civil calendar 25 December is marked “Natalis Invicti”…

By the time of Jerome and Augustine, the December feast is established, though the latter (Epp., II, liv, 12, in P.L., XXXIII, 200) omits it from a list of first-class festivals. From the fourth century every Western calendar assigns it to 25 December…

The Gospels. Concerning the date of Christ’s birth the Gospels give no help; upon their data contradictory arguments are based. The census would have been impossible in winter: a whole population could not then be put in motion…

Natalis Invicti. The well-known solar feast, however, of Natalis Invicti, celebrated on 25 December, has a strong claim on the responsibility for our December date. For the history of the solar cult, its position in the Roman Empire, and syncretism with Mithraism, see Cumont’s epoch-making “Textes et Monuments” etc., I, ii, 4, 6, p. 355…The earliest rapprochement of the births of Christ and the sun is in Cypr., “De pasch. Comp.”, xix, “O quam præclare providentia ut illo die quo natus est Sol . . . nasceretur Christus.” – “O, how wonderfully acted Providence that on that day on which that Sun was born . . . Christ should be born.”…

Cards and presents. Pagan customs centering round the January calends gravitated to Christmas…

The yule log. The calend fires were a scandal even to Rome, and St. Boniface obtained from Pope Zachary their abolition (Martindale C. Christmas, 1908).

Perhaps I should add that a book I bought at the Vatican in 2004 states the following about the eighth bishop of Rome (now called Pontiffs) and Christmas:

8. TELESPHORUS, ST. (125-136)…He prescribed fasting and penance in the seven weeks before Easter, thus initiating a practice that is still alive in the Christian world. He established that on Christmas eve priests could say three masses and he introduced the Gloria in excelsis Deo, which he himself may have composed, at the beginning of the mass (Lopes A. The Popes: The lives of the pontiffs through 2000 years of history. Futura Edizoni, Roma, 1997, p.3).

Yet, that account is clearly in error as there is no evidence that any in the second century celebrated Christmas. And Catholic scholars generally realize this.  

The Catholic Encyclopedia notes this about him Telesphorus:

Telesphorus is mentioned as one of the Roman bishops who always celebrated Easter on Sunday, without, however, abandoning church fellowship with those communities that did not follow this custom. None of the statements in the “Liber pontificalis” and other authorities of a later date as to liturgical and other decisions of this pope are genuine. (Kirsch J.P. Transcribed by Christine J. So, despite some Roman documents with errors, it is generally understood that Christmas was not an original tradition of the Christian Church, that December 25th was probably chosen because of pagan celebrations, and Christmas was not truly enjoined by any Pope before the third or fourth century.

Christians faithful to the original apostolic traditions still do not celebrate Christmas in the 21st century.

This comes as no surprise as the dispute over the Denton property led directly to the UCG split.

The Franks faction had been extremely anxious to move to the Denton property and build a college and headquarters along HWA lines, as Gerald Flurry had done in Oklahoma…

Rod Meredith is now close to the point of being unable to supervise the operations of LCG and Richard Ames may not be able to handle things for too long.  Doug Winnail is now emerging as the coming leader of LCG.

This is pure speculation on my part, but Doug was a close friend of Jim Franks during their years together in Baltimore, and if there should be enough time for this situation to mature, it is possible that these two might once again establish a good working relationship with a joint cooperative effort.

Dr. Douglas Winnail is an evangelist in the Living Church of God.  Let me put James Malm’s public speculation to rest, based on the numerous conversations that I have had with Dr. D. Winnail on UCG, COGWA, merger rumors, and other matters, the type of cooperation that James Malm is hinting at is not going to happen.  Dr. Winnail has no plans for LCG to be jointly connected with COGWA in Texas.

While this does not mean that there can be no areas that various COGs can cooperate in, Dr. Winnail has made it clear that he has no intentions to get together with COGWA.

As far as Dr. Meredith goes, in a must-play DVD that those of us in LCG saw yesterday, Dr. Meredith seemed fine and stated that he thought that God would probably keep him around a few more years.  And regarding Richard Ames, he sounded fine when I last spoke with him.  Now, of course, everyone is getting older, but we in LCG have no intention to merge with groups like COGWA, and never have–even if one or more top LCG leaders were to die or become incapacitated.
