Many in Greece are outraged and in a near panic about how their national economy has been handled.

I have long warned at this news page that serious civil unrest, like civil war, could happen in Greece and other parts of Europe.  As well as warned that the debt and austerity problems in Greece could lead to civil unrest, and possibly civil war.

Furthermore, in my 2009 book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect, I discuss the likelihood of civil unrest and/or civil war breaking out in Europe. Here are some captions from the book about that:

The Bible is clear that the final “Beast power” (which will be primarily European) will have such unique military capabilities that the entire world will marvel (cf. Revelation 13:3–4)…

Some believe that God will punish the nominal Catholics with civil unrest and war in Europe. As there already has been civil unrest in Europe (and according to secular sources, more is expected), it is possible that the following (to some degree) also may come to pass:..

Monk Hilarion (15^th century): “The people of the peninsula of Europe will suffer by needless wars…”

Brother Louis Rocco (19th century): “All over Europe there will rage terrible civil wars…A Great Monarch will arise after a period of terrible wars and persecutions in Europe.”

Some believe this civil unrest will result in the rise of a militaristic leader who will quell that particular violence, establish a new religious order, and reign with a pope who will perform miracles…

One interesting 15^th century Catholic prophecy foretells a time when a “great prince” will rise up. “All Germany” will apparently convert to the ecumenical religion, and then massive conversions in “all countries” “will happen quickly…

The descriptions of the Great Monarch/Prince in many ways parallel the description of one the Bible refers to as the “prince” in Daniel 9:26–27, final “King of the North” in Daniel 11:27–45…

The Bible is clear that the final “Beast power” (which will be primarily European) will have such unique military capabilities that the entire world will marvel (cf. Revelation 13:3–4)…

Here is more of what the Bible teaches about the first beast:

⁴…they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” ⁷…It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation (Revelation 13:4, 7)…

Civil unrest in Europe results in a military leader rising up, with various signs, who will appear to support an old and new religion… Daniel 11:27 Revelation 13:1–2 cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10…

This does not mean that there must now be a civil war in Greece, but there most certainly could be at least significant civil unrest.  My book also warns about potential problems with the Euro.

The Bible itself teaches that Europe will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13) and support a particular religion (Revelation 13).

We are hearing rumblings in Greece, France, and other places in Europe that show that many there are starting to get into the mindset that the Bible warns against that will rise up there.

It is interesting that some feel that France’s new President Hollande needs to be involved with, and possibly partially solve, this problem with Greece.  And he may well do so, for a short while, at least.

In his sermon of April 28, 2012 (a transcript of which is now up and used here) CGPFK/CGPKG’s Ronald Weinland said the following:

Let’s notice part of what was said in the 11th article entitled ‘Opening of the 7th Seal’ under a section entitled ‘Last Warning’.

God has shown that we have reached the end of time for any more warning witness to His
people through any publications.

‘Time is Running Out’ and ‘Time Has Run Out’: That’s all the Church that was scattered needed. Those
truths would determine who would be measured as part of the Temple and those who had to be left out
in the court, the Gentiles, the non-believers, as we went through and talked about the meaning of those
words. And so those two booklets – yes, there were two books written later on – but the two booklets
were directed directly to the Church, and the second one, candidly, was in a very powerful way
mentioned as one directed toward the ministry of God’s Church.

Time has run out for the scattered Church of God.

The time of God’s judgment upon His Church is complete and only a few are going to be called to become a final remnant of all that was scattered earlier.

Didn’t know the magnitude of what was written then. Hindsight becomes much clearer.

God will call a tithe from the third that was scattered. All who were scattered received an opportunity to repent of pride and a lukewarm spirit.

Now, I’ve been looking forward to that tithe. It’s not here and it will not share with us what I’ve wanted
to share…it’s just the timing is a matter of something that’s fully in God’s hands.

The above suggests that Ron Weinland is admitting that he was wrong about getting thousands that were once part of the old WCG (what he called the “tithe from the third that was scattered”) to become part of his church.  But instead of admitting that he has a track record of being a proven false prophet, he tries to shift the blame to God.

Of course, instead of teaching that time has ran out for those that do not support Ronald Weinland, perhaps he and his followers should consider that they are the ones running out of time as Jesus is not returning in 12 twelve days–Ronald Weinland has been falsely claiming for close to four years that Jesus will return on May 27, 2012.  He actually mentions the May 27th date twice in this sermon and criticizes those who point out that various literal events that the Bible requires have not happened and claims that those who disagree with him are in “a horrible state.”  He simply does not want to publicly admit the horrible predictions and explanations he has made are wrong.

Ron Weinland made additional errors in that 4/28/12 sermon, including claiming that he and those with him have more understanding than they do:

 …we have the ability, the blessing of God dwelling in us, the blessing of God’s spirit dwelling in us, as God draws us and begins to dwell in us that we can begin to understand and see those things that are spiritual as God communicates them to us. Because He has to give them to us; we learn that very early on in the Church, we truly do.

Much of the sermon is devoted to Ronald Weinland’s false interpretation of Revelation 11 claiming that the witness is not for the world, that the miracles and withholding rain that the two witnesses are supposed to do is spiritual, and other similar nonsense.  Here are some of his odd explanations of parts of Revelation 11 from that sermon:

Revelation 11:6 – These have power to shut heaven that it rain not in the days of their prophecy; and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth will all plagues as often as they will. Sounds pretty ominous; and we take it all physically…and it isn’t. It isn’t.

They have power; It’s that authority again; it’s the same thing that runs through this from the beginning to the end that comes from God, the way God works, how God is working – authority, power to act, which in the beginning, again, was a power of authority and authority to measure by or through the truths that God revealed. It’s still speaking of that power that’s a result of those truths that were revealed, the truth and what God gave to us and what God gave to us very powerfully, those truths that began to be listed in a very powerful way just in ‘Time is Running Out’ are powerful and awesome for this end-time. It is what the scattered Churches have rejected, it is what God has used to measure the Temple, it is what has strengthened you and given you life and you’ve been able to be blessed, if you will, to build upon those things. We have built mightily upon those things that God has given to us step by step by step, because of what God has given, Him showing the magnitude and the power of it all.

…to shut heaven, during the period of 3½ years others cannot be part of this Body, the Church – in power and judgment – unless they repent and accept the truth given from heaven. It’s where it comes from, it comes from Jesus Christ; that power, judgment, and discernment, is fully given to the ministry of God’s Church – first from God’s witnesses – that’s how God works.

Actually, God works by being true and faithful,  something that Ronald Weinland has not been.

For those unfamiliar with him, Ronald Weinland was a minister in the old old Worldwide Church of God, then he was in the United Church of God for a while.  Since then, he has been on his own.  He claims that he is one of the two witnesses and that his wife is the other one.  After first insisting that the Great Tribulation began on April 17, 2008, he later insisted that the Great Tribulation began on December 14, 2008 and that Jesus will return on May 27, 2012 (these are his last published dates).  The Great Tribulation has most definitely not yet started (we seem to be in the time period that Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows” Matthew 24:8), and Jesus most definitely will not be returning on May 27, 2012.  So, when he is wrong then (if not before), Ronald Weinland will either repent, spiritualize away the non-return of Jesus, try to stay out of the USA (he is under investigation for income tax issues by the US government and he travels outside of the USA frequently), and/or claim to have received a new “revelation” or “truth” that gives humanity more time or something to that effect.

Ronald Weinland has claimed about himself in the past:

God will reveal who His two witnesses are regardless of whether people choose to believe them or not! God will increasingly give more proof of His spokesman as prophecies unfold exactly as they are recorded in this book…

The question about how God has revealed His truth to me is a fair one. The answer that I am who I say I am will be given by the events described in both books coming true exactly as I have described. (Weinland R. 2008: God’s Final Witness, pp. 89-90,111)

The events described in his books have not came true as he described them, so instead he tries to “spiritualize away” more and more of the details.  We simply have not been in the Great Tribulation for the past 3 1/2 years, yet Ronald Weinland’s followers seem willing to believe the opposite.  Have they not read Matthew 24?  Surely most have, but apparently have accepted Ron Weinland’s explanation that the actual details Jesus mentioned do not mean what they say.

I have denounced Ronald Weinland as a false prophet for over six years. And for every detail I have denounced, I have been right and he wrong. Cannot his followers see that he is not one of God’s two witnesses?

Since he is clearly wrong, why report about him still?  Well, because of the fact that he has claimed that Jesus will return in less than two weeks, some people are at least looking into him again (though not nearly as many who followed Harold Camping’s false prediction for Jesus’ return on May 21, 2011).  Hopefully, I can reach some now so that they will not be overly distraught when Jesus does not return on May 27, 2012.

Perhaps his existing supporters will learn what they should either now or by the end of May not continue to allow Ronald Weinland and/or others like him to string them along.

The people of France are to get a new president today:

Now, Europe’s overall economy does need growth and ultimately will end up with it.  But many in Europe are becoming dissatisfied to the point on staging large-scale protests.   What may happen if Francois Hollande does not satisfy enough of the French?  What if Germany continues to take a view that does not always agree with his?

Paris and other parts of France may be in for a rough time.   France is facing some opposition from Germany and others for some steps that Francois Hollande has promised.  Others have raised concerns for this nation somewhat descended from the tribe of Reuben (see TW: Will France Divide Europe? Part of the 144,000?).  By virtue of his timing, and not that everything he does will be negative, Francois Hollande is entering office at a time that will lead to many changes within Europe–yet many changes are warned against in the Bible (cf. Revelation 17:12-14; Revelation 13).

And it needs to be understood that the issues in France are not just economic.  Sadly, according to Wikipedia, Francois Hollande has a similar pro-homosexual stance as the USA’s President Obama:

European politics: aims to conclude a new contract of Franco-German partnership and he advocates the adoption of a Directive on the protection of public services. Proposes closer Franco-German partnership: “an acceleration of the establishment of a Franco-German civic service, the creation of a Franco-German research office, the creation of a Franco-German industrial fund to finance common competitiveness clusters (transport, energy or environment) and the establishment of a common military headquarters…Hollande supported same-sex marriage and adoption for LGBT couples, and has plans to pursue the issue in early 2013.

Certain Roman Catholics teach something called “the minor chastisement” is coming.  It is supposed to essentially be major civil unrest/civil wars in Europe because of Europe’s laxness in following Catholicism according to some sources.  And while the extreme unrest has not clearly happened yet, Francois Hollande has the potential to be a catalyst for this if he does not satisfy many of the French and/or the followers of Islam in his country.

Interestingly, Catholic prophecy indicates that there will be civil strife across Europe, and especially involving France:

Paris will look like a slaughter-house. Persecutions against the Church will be even greater, but it will not last long…Many bishops and priest will be put to death. The archbishop of Paris will be murdered…At this juncture, the French people will turn back to God and implore the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Immaculate…The French people will ask for the good King, he who was chosen by God. He will come, this saviour whom God has spared for France, this King who is not wanted now because he is dear to God’s Heart. Foretelling the fall of France and England, the famous Jesuit Father Necton, said in 1772, “When England shall wane in power, the destruction of Paris will be near at hand” (Culligan E. The Last World War and the End of Time. The book was blessed by Pope Paul VI, 1966. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), p. 84).

Pseudo-Methodius (7th century): In France, people of Christians will fight and kill…At that same time the Muslims will be killed and they will know the tribulation…The Lord will give them to the powers of the Christians whose empire will be elevated above all empires…The Roman King (Great Monarch) will show a great indignation against those who will have denied Christ in Egypt or in Arabia (Araujo, Fabio R. Priest Lavinsky (died 1708): The world will be harassed by civil wars…the Cross, to the astonishment of all, will shine in double splendor through many lands because of the great ruler (Connor Edward. John of the Cleft Rock (1340): The White Eagle (Great Monarch), by order of the Archangel Michael, will drive crescent from Europe where none but Christians will remain–he himself will rule from Constantinople. An era of peace and prosperity will begin for the world. There will no longer be Protestants {there were no “Protestants” then and author Connor of that book suggests that perhaps this word should have been translated as heretics} or schismatics…God will raise up a holy Pope (Connor, pp. 33-34)

Venerable Bartholomew Holzhauser (died 1658):…”When everything has been ruined by war; when Catholics are hard pressed by traitorous co-religionists and heretics; when the Church and her servants are denied their rights, the monarchies have been abolished and their rulers murdered…then the hand of Almighty God will work a marvelous change, something apparently impossible according to human understanding. There will rise a valiant monarch anointed by God. He will be a Catholic, a descendant of Louis IX, (yet) a descendant of an ancient imperial German family, born in exile. He will rule supreme in temporal matters. (Connor, pp.35-36)

Priest Nectou S.J. (d. 1772): They indeed shall conspire for the destruction of the Church; but the time shall not be allowed them, because this frightful crisis shall be for a short duration. When all will be considered lost, all shall be found safe…The triumph of the Church will then be so complete that nothing like it shall ever be seen…A man disliked by France will be placed on the throne…(Culleton, p. 176; cf. Dupont, p. 48).

If civil war/riots/civil unrest do occur in Europe on a larger scale, this likely will set the stage for the rising up of a military leader to resolve this.  Catholic prophecies specifically suggest that this will happen and they tend to refer to this leader as the “Great Monarch” (or the “Great King”)–of course, Catholic prophecies also have certain contradictions–but many are consistent with biblical prophecy.   The belief that those in France (as shown above) will turn to “Mary” is consistent with certain biblical (Isaiah 47; Revelation 17; 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12) and other Catholic prophecies as detailed in my book Fatima Shock!

This “Great Monarch”, however, seems to have a lot in common with the prophesied final King of the North and Beast from the Bible.  So, if there is major civil unrest across Europe, and likely including France, this would seem to indicate that this leader will rise up fairly soon.

The Bible tells of a basically European kingdom that will be partially strong, partially weak, and with a fragile unity (Daniel 2:41-43), but that will have a frightening type of economic dominance (see Revelation chapters 13,17,18). This kingdom will have a religion and it will not be Islam. Europe is prophesied to make a deceitful deal with an Islamic power (Daniel 11:27) and this deal might partially happen because of immigration policies and civil unrest.

The Bible also tells of a time when a European power will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13). While I do not believe that we are to the point of fulfilling the reorganization required by Revelation 17:12-13, it seems that a variety of steps will be necessary for the final reorganization to occur. Some of those steps, especially if they involve austerity/budget cuts and immigration policies, may stir more violent protests in the future. Violent protests can lead to militaristic leaders rising up, and a major militaristic leader rising up is consistent with biblical prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39-44; Revelation 13:3-4).

We will see if Francois Hollande has a role to place in some of this.  If he stays in office long, he will.  Even if Francois Hollande, for a while, helps reduce some tension in France and elsewhere–trouble, and later the Beast, will rise up in Europe.

So, the SECOND law of success in time sequence, is EDUCATION, or PREPARATION.

How can one expect to accomplish his purpose unless he acquires the know-how?

One thing we need to know about life—and many do not—is that humans do not come equipped with instinct.

To this extent, the dumb animals have a certain advantage over us. They do not have to learn. They never need weary their brains with book learning.

The new born calf does not have to be taught how to walk. It starts immediately to get up on its somewhat infirm and uncertain legs. It may fall down on the first or second attempt, but in a matter of a few moments it stands, even if a little unsteady at first. It does not require a year or two—not even an hour or two—the little calf starts walking in a few minutes! It does not need to reason out any goals. It requires no textbooks, nor teaching. It instinctively knows its goal—dinner! And it knows, also instinctively, the way. On its own four legs it proceeds immediately to the first meal!

I have repeated so many times: birds build nests—by instinct. No one teaches them how. Five generations of weaver birds, isolated from nests or nest-building materials, never saw a nest. When nest-building materials were made accessible, the sixth generation, without any instruction, proceeded to build nests! They were not crows’ nests or eagles’ nests. They were the same kind of nests weaver birds have built since creation. They had no minds to think out, imagine, design, and construct a different kind of nest.

Of course dogs, horses, elephants, dolphins, and some other animals can be taught and trained to do certain tricks. But they cannot reason, imagine, think, plan, design and construct new and different things. They do not acquire knowledge, perceive truth from error, make decisions, and employ WILL to exercise self-discipline according to their own reasoned wisdom and decisions. THEY CANNOT DEVELOP MORAL AND SPIRITUAL CHARACTER.

But humans have it not quite so easy. Humans have to learn, or be taught. Humans have to learn to walk, to talk, to eat or drink.

We don’t come to these basic accomplishments instinctively and immediately like the dumb animals. It may take a little more time. It may come a little harder. But we can go on to learn reading, writing, and “rithmetic”!

Then we can go further, and learn to appreciate literature, music, art. We can learn to think and reason, to conceive a new idea, to plan, design, construct.

We can investigate, experiment, invent telescopes and learn something about outer space and far-off planets, stars, and galaxies. We invent microscopes and learn about infinitesimal particles of matter.

We learn about electricity, laws of physics and chemistry. We learn to use the wheel, construct highways, and roll over ground faster than any animal. We learn to fly higher, farther and faster than any bird. We learn how to take nature apart and make it work for us. We discover and utilize nuclear energy.

But we have to LEARN—to STUDY—to be EDUCATED—to be PREPARED for what we propose to do.

One if the first things we need to learn is –that we need to learn!

Once you have learned enough to CHOOSE A GOAL, the second step toward successfully accomplishing that goal is to LEARN THE WAY—to acquire the additional education, training, experience, to give you the know-how to achieve your goal.

Most people fail to set any definite goals. Having no specific aims, they neglect the specialized EDUCATION to make possible the attainment of their purpose.

Now all these men whose case histories I have recounted had goals. They had the overall purpose of acquiring possessions, attaining status, and enjoying the passing moments. As a means to this objective, they had the specialized goals of succeeding in banking, industry, politics, acting, writing, or whatever. They all EDUCATED THEMSELVES for their particular profession or calling.

They were broad enough to realize that education included not only book learning, but personality development, leadership, experience, knowledge form contacts and associations, and from observation.

Yet these “successful” people were not really successful. They not only chose an overall goal that led them in the way of false values, they also failed to equip themselves with the RIGHT education to make possible that REAL LASTING success—fulfilling the PURPOSE of life.

There is, then, a right and a false education.

These successful people were not lastingly successful. Their education failed to teach them the TRUE VALUES. They chose goals that led them in the way of false values that didn’t last.

The entire system of education in this world neglects to recapture the true values. Even the scholarly educators themselves too often devote themselves to arduous years of research into non-essential and useless channels.

The basic and most essential knowledge—the true values, the meaning and purpose of life, the WAY to peace, to happiness and abundant well-being—these basics are never taught. Because I was given to see this decadence in modern education—to recognize this tragic knowledge gap—I was led to found a college that fills this need.

Right education must teach that all things are a matter of cause and effect—that for every result, whether good or evil, there is a cause. True education will teach the CAUSE of this world’s evils—of personal or collective troubles—so that they may be avoided. Also it much instruct in the CAUSE of this world’s evils—of personal or collective troubles—so that they may be avoided. Also it must instruct in the CAUSE of the GOOD results, that we may know how to win them instead of the troubles. Right education must not stop at teaching TO LIVE! It must know, and teach, the PURPOSE of human life, and how to fulfill it.

Decadent education has spawned student revolt, which has, on occasion, plunged many colleges and universities into states of violence and chaos!

It’s another significant tragedy of our time!

This world is dissemination false education that has come down to us from the thinking, philosophizing, yet misguided pagans who lacked a knowledge of the true values and purposes of life! The true history of education is an eye-opening story in itself!

Despite media reports in the last year or so questioning the monetary value of education (and some of it should be questioned), becoming educated or otherwise prepared is important.  Not only can the right education “open doors,” it helps many people become more productive.  It helps people live up to more of their potential.

With so many world events happening that are aligning with end time prophecy, isn’t this the time to be sure that you have the right goal and understand the meaning of life so that your education can support that?

A top cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, Vsevolod Chaplin (who has been and still may be its official spokesman), made the news for some bold comments:

Our Orthodox civilization may not be that large, but today it has a key role in the world as it knows how to find a way to a better life for the whole world and especially Europe,”Chaplin said on Monday during a videoconference between Moscow, Kiev and Minsk.The West has betrayed the ideals of Christianity, which Emperors Constantine and Justinian merged with Roman law, Chaplin says. In his opinion, the Europe, which was based on these principles, no longer exists.

Although Vsevolod Chaplin has some points about not following the weak-willed West” or the “intellectually weak East,” the Russian Orthodox has its own issues and is not promoting biblically-based Christianity.  It should also be noted that Emperors Constantine and Justinian were murderous and compromising leaders and did not hold to the values that Jesus established for His Church (see also Military Service and the Churches of God: Do Real Christians Participate in Carnal Warfare?).  Emperor Constantine himself was a follower of the sun-god Mithras and attempted to blend that religion in with the Greco-Roman one (see also Do You Practice Mithraism?).  The Catholic scholar Aiken noted that “Mithraism was first and foremost a military cult” (Aiken C.F., Mithraism, p. 255)

As far as the current Russian Orthodox Church, several have voiced other concerns about it and its top leader, Patriarch Kirill:

The patriarch’s reputation has been tarnished by a pair of scandals involving a $38,832 Breguet watch he was seen wearing and a court case in which he sought $630,000 from a cancer-stricken neighbor — despite his monastic vows not to have any worldly possessions while serving the church.

And just as Putin is supported by gangs of youth thugs who intimidate his opponents, the church enjoys the backing of its own roaming enforcers of orthodoxy — tacitly approved of by church leaders…

Political analyst Stanislav Belkovsky said the church has turned into the Kremlin’s “Salvation Ministry,” obediently approving Kremlin policies and slamming Western democracy as concepts alien to Russian traditions — all the while enjoying hefty government donations and tax immunity.

The Russian Orthodox Church, through leaders such as Patriarch Kirill, has supported Vladimir Putin. And it supported Vladimir Putin when many Russians were turning against him. Vladimir Putin once again took the office of President of Russia on May 7, 2012 and partially has the Russian Orthodox Church and specifically its Patriarch Kirill to credit for assisting with some issues that possibly could have complicated, if not possibly prevented, his “re-election.”

I have covered Patriarch Kirill for years (see New Russian Orthodox Patriarch, Russian Orthodox Leader Urges No Compromise With Catholics, and Russian Orthodox and Vatican Closer to Ending Rift). I believe he has a keen interest in politics and ecumenical matters.

Despite calls that Europe somehow needs the Russian Orthodox Church, it truly instead needs to practice the original biblical Christian faith, which the true Church of God strives to do.  Yet, prophecy suggests that more in Europe will be inclined towards a compromised Greco-Roman faith that will be sort of a compromise between many highly tradition-based faiths, like the Russian Orthodox and others.

And related to this, for a while, I believe that the Russian Orthodox Church will support, at least to a degree, the ecumenical religion that the Vatican will change into.  But, ultimately, the Russian Orthodox Church will turn against that and likely encourage the Russian leadership later in the 21st century to turn against what will have risen up in Europe.

Germany & Iranian Nuclear Power.

At a recent Jewish Global Forum meeting in Washington, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle stated, “the international community will block Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon… The current Iranian nuclear program represents an enormous danger, not only to Israel but to the region as a whole.” Germany, as a northern European nation, has recently become more outspoken in regard to Iran. Although Mr. Westerwelle advocates more negotiations with Iran, he has clearly stated that there is a limit to Germany’s patience if Iran continues to threaten Israel. He noted, “I want you to know that we will continue to stand by Israel’s side” (Israel National News, May 4, 2012).The prophet Daniel foretold a power struggle between kings of the North and South–a European Beast power and an Arab-led southern power (Daniel 11:29-43). While these kings of the North and South are not yet clearly identified on the world stage, Iran’s actions could help galvanize the Arab states. Germany’s actions in support of Israel could lead to its deeper involvement in Jerusalem to counter actions by aggressive Arab nations (Daniel 11:41; Luke 21:20-24; Revelation 11:2).

According to Bible prophecy, a European power dominated by the descendants of Assyria (central Europeans, like the Germans) is destined to temporarily be the most dominant force in the world, take abominable actions in Jerusalem (Daniel 11:31) which trigger the start of the Great Tribulation (Matthew 25:15-19), ultimately conquer the Anglo-descended nations (Daniel 11:39), much of the Arab-world (Daniel 11:40-43), and later come to its end (Daniel 11:45).

Germany and the rest of Europe are not ready for that yet, but events continue to move in that direction.  Though some have felt that Iran is getting the message to disband its nuclear programe, notice the following Reuters/Israel News item linked from the website of the self-described Protestant “watchman on the wall,” Hal Lindsey:

The names and addresses of 60 Iranian experts employed by 11 different Iranian agencies under the control of the Iranian Defense Ministry were revealed by Iranian opposition.

The above report has the following which was not directly shown at Hal Lindsey’s website:

Its latest report, whose details could not be verified, appeared timed to encourage a tougher line at talks with Iran the UN nuclear watchdog will have in Vienna on Monday and Tuesday and six world powers will hold in Baghdad on May 23.

But it clashed with the assessment of US and Israeli intelligence officials that Iran has not decided whether to “weaponries” its enrichment program. Tehran says it is refining uranium solely for peaceful energy.

In the six-page report shown to Reuters, the NCRI cited sources in the Iranian government and military as saying some 60 scientists were pursuing bomb-relevant research in 11 agencies operating clandestinely under defense ministry control.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s defense minister says intelligence agencies are familiar with a drawing said to be based on information from inside an Iranian military site showing an explosives containment chamber of the type needed for nuclear arms-related tests.

Now, these news items are interesting for several reasons, including the fact that Iran seems to be willing to risk destruction by being so bold (and the fact that certain Western analysts seem to have been fooled by Iran).  These nuclear bomb actions seem reckless on the part of Iran and will provide additional justification for Israel and/or others to strike, boycott, or otherwise be involved with negative actions towards Iran.

It should be noted that Hal Lindsey himself repeatedly has incorrectly claimed that Iran will be part of a Russian army, which prior to the Great Tribulation, will fulfill Ezekiel 38 (he did that, for one example, on his telecast of 5/11/12).  And while Ezekiel 38:5 does mention Persia (which would equate to modern Iran), Israel is not now a “land of unwalled villages” with “a peaceful people who dwell safely” (Ezekiel 38:10-11), and thus this event simply does not happen until well after the Great Tribulation is past–not before it (see also WSJ Suggests that Israel Should Destroy Iran; Ezekiel 38?).

And since Iran is not shown prophetically to be a truly dominant player at this time (assertions from Protestants like Hal Lindsey and others related to their misunderstandings of the prophecies in Ezekiel 38 & 39 not withstanding; see also WSJ Suggests that Israel Should Destroy Iran; Ezekiel 38?), it may be that an international consensus involving Germany will be a factor in neutralizing Iran.  Especially, if Israel strikes Iran sometime this year (see also USA Concerned Netanyahu May Strike Iran At Any Time Now).

For a long time, Haiti has essentially been the economic basket-case in the Western Hemisphere.  But with a discovery of substantial amounts of gold, this may change:

And yet, Haiti’s land may hold the key to relieving centuries of poverty, disaster and disease: There is gold hidden in its hills — and silver and copper, too.A flurry of exploratory drilling in the past year has found precious metals worth potentially $20 billion deep below the tropical ridges in the country’s northeastern mountains. Now, a mining company is drilling around the clock to determine how to get those metals out.

In neighboring Dominican Republic, workers are poised to start mining the other side of this seam later this year in one of the world’s largest gold deposits: 23 million ounces worth about $40 billion.

If handled properly, this is fantastic news for Haiti, as well as the Dominican Republic.  The fact that Haiti’s devastating earthquake apparently pushed the gold to a point where it was found is also interesting news.  Gold can be a major economic benefit.

Interestingly, the Bible is clear that until at least the first couple of years of the Great Tribulation, that gold will be valuable.  Notice the following end time prophetic scriptures:

40 “At the time of the end…43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver (Daniel 11:40,43)

16…’Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! (Revelation 18:16)

4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls (Revelation 17:4)

Anyway, having been hit the devastating earthquake in 2010, combined with the fact that its economy has been bad for decades, finding gold in Haiti should help lift that nation up if this new found wealth is handled properly.

This find should help those of Haiti, hopefully including, for one example, the members of the Living Church of God that live there.  And this should help those in the Dominican Republic (I have read reports that COGWA and/or UCG has members, at least prospective ones, there).

Of course, gold and an improved economy will not save humanity, only Jesus can do that.  But lifting the nation of Haiti out of its severe economic hardship should be a blessing for many people.  And, this should also help its neighbor, the Dominican Republic, which is also not a wealthy country (though, economically, historically, stronger than Haiti).

This should be no surprise to regular readers of this page.  Back in 2010 (see Civil War in Greece?), I warned, “Austerity measures in Europe will likely cause civil unrest”. As well later in December 2010 (see Civil Unrest in Greece (and it was predicted) where I warned:

Civil unrest in Europe is expected.  Places such as France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Eastern Europe have potential for this occurrence.  In addition to austerity measures, Islamic protests and immigration related issues will also likely be factors in flaming protests and devastating riots.  Expanded civil unrest will have major impacts on the euro and on Europe itself.

Expanded civil unrest will have major impacts on the euro and on Europe itself. It is highly likely to propel a European leader to rise up. The final leader will be the one known as the Beast (Revelation 13:3-4) and final King of the North (Daniel 11:22-44) of Bible prophecy.

Europe is prophesied to have problems (Daniel 11:41-43) and not all the problems have happened yet.  Spain and other parts of Europe are likely to have even more significant civil unrest before a strong leader is granted power (cf. Revelation 17:12-13).

World events are aligning with prophecy. There will be ups and downs in Europe until the final European beast power rises up. The protests may turn quite violent and this may be a major trigger for the rise of the prophesied final King of the North.

Today is called “Our Lady of Fatima Day” on certain Catholic calendars.  95 years ago, on May 13, 1917, three children, aged 10, 9, & 7 saw a small lady in a short skirt who appeared in the Portuguese hamlet called Fatima.  Millions will be observing today in honor of that “Mother” (cf. Revelation 17:5).

The oldest child (Lucia) who saw the apparition in Fatima, Portugal thought that what she saw could be the devil, as did her parish priest.  A series of monthly visits beginning May 13, 1917 continued culminating in something commonly referred to as “the miracle of the sun” on October 13, 1917.

The apparition, which many in the Catholic world believe was Jesus’ mother Mary, gave various “secrets,” several of which were not written down until after they had apparently been fulfilled. Many actually believe that Fatima holds the key to the future and that the forces of evil can be stopped if various portions of the messages of Fatima are heeded.

Most people who believe in Fatima have no idea that what appeared did not at all resemble images that Catholics associate with Mary.  What appeared was a small feminine-appearing apparition wearing a short-skirt.  The “Lady of Fatima” more resembled various images of the goddess Diana than images that most associate with Mary.  The messages, when properly understood, do not square with Mary nor the God of the Bible.

Yet, if those who follow Fatima knew the truth about what was originally reported in Fatima, the truth about several of the messages (and messengers), etc. they would realize that Fatima is part of the problem, not the solution.  Despite the truth, notice what some followers and promoters of Fatima are now saying:

Where am I going? What is my ultimate destination?

From May 13 to May 18, “Fatima: Your Last Chance!” will convene in Rome to respectfully pose this question to Pope Benedict: Holy Father, where are you going?…

Our Lady of Fatima has made a direct request of the Holy Father and the bishops: Consecrate Russia to My Immaculate Heart.

So far, as author and conference speaker John Salza will discuss, 7 Popes have failed to lead the bishops in performing this simple act of consecration that comes with a wonderful promise: the conversion of Russia and world peace.

This seems incredible, incomprehensible, but it is nevertheless true.

Our Lady sealed the authenticity of Fatima with a spectacular public miracle — The Miracle of the Sun — witnessed by 70,000 people. And two of the three Fatima seers have been beatified.

If the Church accepts the authenticity of Fatima and the holiness of its messengers, as it does, why balk at the consecration? This is a question that “Fatima: Your Last Chance!” will ask.

Our Lady’s Apostolate is prepared to ask this question plainly and forcefully because we love the Pope and the Church. We want the Holy Father and the bishops to save themselves and us by doing the only thing still in their power: Obey Our Lady.

The “Lady of Fatima” will not bring world peace, but seems to be a factor in the emergence of the final Beast power.  The type of “peace” brought forth will not be a type endorsed by the God of the Bible.

Although most non-Catholics do not think that Fatima can affect them, if they live long enough this century, they will find that this is not the case. Fatima is a much bigger deal than people realize and seems to tie in with a variety of prophecies throughout the Bible (e.g. Isaiah 47, Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 17).

Did you know that apparitions that some believe to be Mary were partially responsible for how the Greco-Roman churches gained influence over the Church of God in Asia Minor in the third century and Europe in the Middle Ages?  Did you know that basically because of apparitions in Mexico and Russia that nearly all of Latin America became “Catholic” and Russia became accepting of icons?  Did you know that Satan has many in Asia and elsewhere looking to female apparitions and apparently has had his seers prophesy that one or more future “Marian” apparitions will help the Beast/Great Monarch rise up?  Did you know any of this?

Jesus warned that nearly everyone would be deceived in the end (Matthew 24:24) and apparitions seem likely to be part of why. Will France (Reuben) Divide Europe?

On May 6, 2012 France elected François Hollande as the new president, ousting Nicolas Sarkozy. Mr. Hollande, a socialist, has pledged to reverse the course set by Mr. Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel (BBC News, May 7, 2012). France is a leading nation in Europe, but its fluctuating governmental policies may force Germany to assume a more dominant role in Europe.

The outcome of this election is “the victory that both Angela Merkel and the markets had feared: French voters on Sunday night elected François Hollande, who has pledged to halt Europe’s austerity measures and renegotiate the European Union’s fiscal pact.” The Germans have warned that “the president-elect should clarify that he will not follow through with his campaign promise to change the European Union fiscal pact, a deal reached earlier this year that forces signatories to anchor balanced-budget measures in their constitutions and halt deficit spending in order to stabilize the common currency” (Der Spiegel, May 5, 2012).

This abrupt change in France’s policy is in keeping with Bible prophecies about Reuben (the ancestor of the French). Jacob told his son Reuben that in the latter days he would have dignity and power, but he would be unstable as water (Genesis 49:3-4).

Daniel prophesied that the ten toes (kingdoms or nations) of the last revival of the Roman Empire would be an unstable mixture of iron and clay–partly strong and partly fragile (Daniel 2:41-42). The recent French election will aggravate the already strained relations between nations in the EU and may further divide France and Germany.

And of course, there are problems in Greece (see, for example, the BBC article today titled EU central bankers consider Greece euro exit) and other parts of Europe.  Shortly after the austerity programs were beginning to be announced (9/5/10, see Civil War in Greece?) I wrote, “Austerity measures in Europe will likely cause civil unrest.” Voters changing politicians likely will not stop future unrest from happening there unless certain economic changes happen in Europe.

The Bible tells of a basically European kingdom that will be partially strong, partially weak, and with a fragile unity (Daniel 2:41-43), but that will have a frightening type of economic dominance (see Revelation chapters 13,17,18).

The Bible also tells of a time when a European power will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13), but that 144,000, composed of 12,000 people from each 12 tribes of Israel (most of whom will apparently have some connection to Europe) will be sealed by God (Revelation 7:1-8), including Reuben (Revelation 7:5).  These people apparently have responded to the preaching of The Two Witnesses and/or otherwise refused to worship the Beast (cf. Revelation 11:3,7; 13:8).

Here is some of what Lesson 28 of the Ambassador College Bible Correspondence Course taught:

The 144,000, as well as the great innumerable multitude from all nations referred to in verse 9, repent of their old sinful ways and turn to Almighty God in personal surrender. God then put their sins under the blood of Jesus Christ-the Passover Lamb (verse 14). “These are they,” states one of the elders at God’s throne, “which came out of great tribulation.” These multitudes will receive eternal life, and serve God day and night in His Temple (verse 15). (Sound the Trumpet. Ambassador College Bible Correspondence Course. Lesson 28. 1986, page 9)

Many people will repent, including various ones in France.

While I do not believe that we are to the point of fulfilling the reorganization required by Revelation 17:12-13 or the sealing of Revelation 7:1-8, we are getting closer.  And France and others will be involved.
