Teach Them Diligently

As summer winds down and autumn approaches, millions of youngsters are getting ready to go back to school. Some have already started. Most of them, from elementary school age to high school students, are eagerly looking forward to the many activities of the school year. Of course, there are a sizeable number who dread it like the plague; at least that is what they tell their parents and friends.

Teachers are preparing their classes for a year of hard work. Coaches have their teams going through drills getting ready for the athletic season. Administrators are wrestling with budgets, transportation issues, security, meal programs and much more. It is a huge job. There is a lot of controversy about inadequate budgets, teachers’ salaries and the condition of the physical facilities in our nation’s schools—particularly in the large urban areas and in the inner city districts. Yet schools will open on time and do their best to carry on the mandated programs.

However, a look below the surface of all this activity reveals the sorry state of affairs of what is actually being taught in public schools. Many curricula include inadequate or slanted versions of history, presenting a very distorted view of what has actually happened over time. A secular bias dominates and instills the idea that there are no absolutes, even teaching forms of sex education that promote almost any behavior as normal and acceptable.

Is it any wonder that so many of our young people today have lost their way and do not have strong moral values to guide them through life? Certainly, there are exceptions, but the situation I have described is all too common. The fruits of our dereliction in education are all around us.

Under these circumstances, parents and grandparents have a special responsibility to teach their children the important truths that are not being taught in public schools today. Indeed, because of the deplorable conditions of so many schools, the homeschooling of children has become very popular—and in many cases does a far superior job of educating children.

Moral values instilled in the home are vitally important in preparing children for a successful life. This was also evident anciently. For example, as Moses led the children of Israel out of bondage, the Eternal God instructed him about what to teach Israel’s children and how to do it. We read: “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged… And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (Deuteronomy 6:1-7).

These instructions cover almost all human activity. Parents were to look for “teachable moments” in everyday life to instill true values in their children. Wise King Solomon put it this way: “Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding” (Proverbs 4:1). The result? “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

So, parents and grandparents, as you prepare for the coming school year, realize the importance of your influence. Be mindful of the responsibility that our Heavenly Father has placed on you to be the primary source of your child’s moral underpinning, by diligently teaching them what they need to know about God’s way of life.

Why is Putin stockpiling gold?

As I have long written, the decline of the Anglo-powers is upon us and this will not be good for the U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

One of the reasons that the price of gold is as high as it is has to do with the continual debasing of the U.S. dollar through federal government deficit spending and programs like “quantitative easing” (a modern way to inflate the money supply).  Notice also the following which confirms part of that:

4-month high and oil rose for a third day as investors
speculated the Federal Reserve will launch a third round of
quantitative easing or bond buying to help the U.S. economic
recovery...

Logically, any Fed easing tends to boost asset prices,
including that of commodities, as it weakens the dollar.

The Bible warns about debasing the currency:

4 Take away the dross from silver (Proverbs 25:4a).

25 I will turn My hand against you,
And thoroughly purge away your dross,
And take away all your alloy. (Isaiah 1:25)

22 Your silver has become dross, Your wine mixed with water. (Isaiah 1:22)

Dross is a cheaper metal that is normally placed inside a covering of a precious metal like silver. Governments began to do this thousands of years ago when they had financial problems. Putting dross into silver cheapens currency, just like putting water into wine dilutes the wine’s value. In modern times, government spending in excess of revenues and quantitative easing programs (QE1, QE2, and likely QE3) are a way to dilute the value of currencies. This is not the biblical solution to US economic problems.

In various forms (including when it turned its silver coins into dross in 1965) the U.S.A. has embraced many ways to devalue its currency.  This will not end well for the U.S.A. nor for its British descended allies.

All need the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom.

Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister made an announcement today about cutting ties with Iran:

Canada cuts ties with Iran, closes embassy, orders Iranian diplomats home

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia — Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has severed Canadian ties with Iran over its sponsorship of terrorism and amid fears about the safety of diplomats in the country.

Baird says the Canadian embassy in Tehran will close immediately and Iranian diplomats in Canada have been given five days to leave.

The skeleton staff that was operating Canada’s Tehran mission has already fled the country…

Canada has historically been a staunch ally of the USA and if Israel attacks Iran, the USA will likely be involved and this could affect Canada.

As far as the threat of strikes against Iran go, notice the following in today’s TW News & Prophecy from the Living Church of God:

Iran’s defensive preparations

In response to the growing threat of an Israeli military attack, Iran is planning a massive defense drill in October, involving their air defenses, army and revolutionary guard (Reuters, September 1, 2012). “Today our systems are prepared in a serious way for modern air threats,” noted Iran’s air defense commander (ibid.). An Iranian naval commander said that Iran now sees Israel and the U.S. as one, so if Israel attacks Iran, Iran will counter-attack both Israeli and U.S. targets (Reuters , September 5, 2012). Turkey’s prime minister has stated that an attack on Iran could cause an “apocalypse” in the region (Ynet News , September 5, 2012).

As tensions rise, the U.S. is moving another carrier group to the Persian Gulf to join with two existing fleets for a 12-day naval exercise from September 16-27 (DEBKA, September 5, 2012). This exercise involves militaries from 25 nations including Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (ibid.).

Tensions are rising as the biblical Holy Days approach in late September and early October. Will Israel attack Iran, with or without the U.S.? Will Israel back down or be pressured to do so by the U.S. and EU nations?

The Bible tells of a coming temporary peace between Israel, Middle-Eastern, and European nations (Daniel 9:27; Psalm 83:1-8) and that no matter what happens with Iran, Jerusalem will not be destroyed; however, it will be controlled by armies of the coming Beast power (Luke 21:24) and become a seat of power for the prophesied Man of Sin (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4).

The reality is that the cost to Israel (and likely the USA) for a regional war involving Iran and/or Syria will be higher than many in the USA or Israel believe (and the cost to Iran would also likely be quite high).  Between terrorist acts, sustained resistance, chemical weapons, biological weapons, emp-type bombs, and/or even disruptions of the internet, Iran and/or Syria can inflict significant damage to their enemies.

Yet, as the TW reported the tiny of nation of Israel would not be “eliminated” by that (nor would the U.S.A.)–it will come later, by the King of the North (cf. Daniel 11:39) before he takes on the King of the South (Daniel 11:40). But since Iran will not be the King of the South and Syria apparently will support that King, the situation in those countries will change–and this certainly could happen from an attack involving Israel.

Watch! (Mark 13:37).  As it seems that the Canadians are watching this as well.

Gov’t ‘can override your religion’  September 6, 2012

The Obama administration today argued in court that the government can make a requirement that violates religious beliefs and that a company cannot reflect the religious faith of its owners.  The administration’s statements came in a court filing that asserts the federal government has the authority to order private companies to provide abortifacients for their employees.

My latest book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States lists the first item under reasons people question Barack Obama’s commitment to Christianity and the second item under reasons why Barack Obama is apocalyptic:

He seems more to support “freedom of worship” than “freedom of religion.”  This has carried forward in his stance on forcing the paying for various forms of contraception, including abortive pills, as he seems to feel that his form of morality should trump those who have religious beliefs to the contrary. By encouraging and not discouraging aspects of immorality (such as abortion and homosexual unions), Barack Obama is setting the U.S.A. up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32) that has and will include troubles, violence, weather problems, earthquakes, food shortages, and pestilences (Mark 13:7-8; Luke 21:10-11).  These problems will worsen. The argument in the U.S. court is consistent with the above concerns.

Sadly, national repentance is not on the political agenda for the two major party USA presidential candidates.

A series of earthquakes hit China today:

A series of earthquakes collapsed houses and triggered landslides in a remote mountainous part of southwestern China on Friday, killing at least 50 people with the toll expected to rise. Damage was preventing rescuers from reaching some outlying areas, and communications were disrupted.

The quakes started with a 5.6-magnitude shock before 11:30 a.m. along the borders of Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, and another equally big quake struck shortly after noon followed by more than 60 aftershocks…Hardest hit was Yiliang County, where 49 of the 50 deaths occurred, said Yunnan province government agencies and state media. Another 150 people in the county were injured, said Zhang Junwei, a spokesman for the provincial seismology bureau…

Xinhua said Friday’s quakes destroyed or damaged 20,000 homes. The Yunnan seismology bureau said and more than 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes. Costa Rica was hit by a large earthquake earlier this week:

CANGREJAL, Costa Rica (AP) — The bulletins were terrifying: a powerful earthquake had struck off the coast of this Central American country, spawning a tsunami warning and bringing fears of widespread catastrophe.

But Costa Rica suffered remarkably little damage from Wednesday’s magnitude-7.6 quake — a few blocked highways, some collapsed houses and one death, of a heart attack caused by fright. It seems like there have been a lot of earthquakes to report about lately.

Jesus, of course, warned about a time earthquakes and troubles:

8 … And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be…troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

We may be at this prophetic point as all the weather, earthquakes, and other problems that have happened in the past couple of years or so could be considered as “troubles.” Perhaps the earthquake and weather problems can serve as another wake-up call to people everywhere that the world can change very quickly and that the time to repent is now:

30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31)

There are troubles and repentance is needed.

Despite recent storms, most farmland in the US is under drought:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The worst drought in decades is expected, over the next few months, to continue choking a large area of the Plains and Rockies that missed the soggy remnants of Hurricane Isaac, according to the National Weather Service’s Seasonal Drought Outlook released on Thursday…the drought’s severity was upgraded through much of the Central and Southern Plains — an area that stretches from southern South Dakota to northern Texas and has been suffering from triple-digit temperatures as well as lack of rain. Parts of South Dakota fell into exceptional drought, and that categorization expanded in large parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraskaas well.

Forecasters say that this region is moving to a climatologically drier time of the year, meaning that the drought will likely intensify in the coming months.

Overall, 62.89 percent of the continental United States remained in moderate to exceptional drought, an improvement of less than a half a percent from last week, according to the Drought Monitor. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/07/us/hurricane-brings-some-drought-relief.html

American grain crops, such as corn,soy, and wheat, are being affected. And corn, is not only eaten by humans, in the USA, a lot of it goes to cattle, chickens, and other livestock.

And of course, in 2012, weather problems, including flooding, drought, and heat have affected other areas as well (see, for example, Flooding in North Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, and China, TW: Drought USA and Flooding UK; Russia Having Both, Quarter Million Affected by Flooding in Japan, Severely Cold Weather in South Africa and Australia, Drought in Mid-USA Affecting Grain, 2012 Drought Declared USA’s Largest Ever Natural Disaster, Drought Affecting India and Its Food Supply; Europe too, Drought Reducing Wheat Yields in US, Australia, Russia, and Ukraine, and Weather Extremes in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK).

Flood, droughts, and weather problems contribute to food shortages, higher food prices (Heat Affecting USA Wheat Crop and USDA Slashes Corn and Soy Production Estimates Due to Drought; Canadian Farmers Expecting to Benefit), and sometimes famines.

Droughts and odd weather problems should serve as a wake-up call. Weather-related troubles with their related food issues, of course, have been biblically expected:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

Those who think that the USA will always have plenty of affordable food will be shocked when that changes. Droughts, floods, weather issues, pestilences, and a reliance on more and more engineered and hybridized foods are putting the USA, as well as its other Anglo-descended allies, at severe risk of food problems. Risks that are going to result in food problems. And the drought is only a part of that.

The West Nile virus is causing more deaths and infections in places like Texas:

DALLAS — It’s the worst year ever for West Nile virus in Texas, which has seen about half of the country’s deaths from the illness this year, health officials said Wednesday.

At least 43 people have died from the virus in Texas, and the state has recorded at least 510 cases of neuroinvasive West Nile, considered the most serious form of the illness because it affects the nervous system, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services…

Texas has been working with the CDC this summer to help eliminate mosquitos that carry the disease, including aerial spraying of insecticide in parts of North Texas. Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner Dr. David Lakey said…”Transmission is contingent on mosquitoes,” Lakey said. “The more you have, the greater likelihood of an outbreak.”

Mosquitoes get the virus from feeding on infected birds and then spread the virus to people they bite…Petersen said more than 70 percent of the cases this year come from Texas, South Dakota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Michigan and Louisiana. All states except Alaska and Hawaii have found West Nile virus in people, birds or mosquitoes this year.

Symptoms for both forms of West Nile can include headaches and fever, but those with the neuroinvasive form can also suffer from symptoms including coma, convulsions and paralysis.

Whether it will be types of viruses or other illnesses, Jesus foretold pestilences as part of the beginning of sorrows: :

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows (Matt 24:7b-8).

5 And Jesus, answering them, began to say: “Take heed that no one deceives you.  6 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many.  7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet.  8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.    (Mark 13:5-8)

Jesus said to watch:

 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.  34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.  35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning —   36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.  37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”  (Mark 13:33-37).

Although some prefer to not pay attention to prophecy, the Bible teaches:

10…Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10)

Hence, Christians should heed Jesus’ words and “watch” prophetic fulfillments which are unfolding at this time (Mark 13:37).

After the uproar about “God” being left out of the Democratic Party Platform in the USA, Barack Obama intervened:

CHARLOTTE — The Democrats opened the second night of their convention by adding God and Jerusalem to their platform, and awaiting the return of Bill Clinton.

Approved on a voice vote, the party platform now mentions God and declares Jerusalem as the capital of Israel — two previous omissions that had been attacked by Republicans and other political organizations.

President Obama personally intervened on both changes, aides said, approving the statement about Jerusalem and questioning why previous language about God had been removed from the platform in the first place.

Many delegates in the half-empty hall booed the changes. The convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, had to call for a voice vote three tines before the additions were approved.

Politically, I felt that the Democrats may decide that they had to do that, which is why in my post, Democrats Seemingly Drop Reference to God in Platform (and the term “Seemingly” before “Drop,” was intentional), I wrote the following:

It is possible that the Democratic Party delegates will change on this.  We will see…(but again, this may change).  Also, just because the Republican Party gives more mention of God, this does not mean that God is a Republican or supporter of that party.

Politically, I felt that the Democratic leadership would want to include the “God” reference.  Though, since many delegates booed, there obviously is a loud element among the convention attendees with a differing view.

God Himself will judge the sincerity of both the major U.S. political parties on this and other religious/moral issues.

The nation of Germany will continue to hold nuclear bombs, which apparently, will also be modernized:

American nuclear weapons will not be removed from Germany, despite their departure being a long-term aim of the German government, it has emerged.

Although Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle had put the removal of the 20 or so US nuclear warheads from Germany at the heart of his foreign policy aims, signs emerged two years ago that this might not be feasible.

Now, the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper reported on Wednesday, the government has bowed to NATO plans to not only keep the bombs in Germany, but to modernise them.

Billions will be spent on modernising the bombs themselves, while the Bundeswehr is expected to spend around €250 million to keep its Tornado fighter jets – which would be used to drop the US nuclear bombs – serviceable until 2024.  http://www.thelocal.de/national/20120905-44779.html

This is no surprise to me.  I have long believed that Germany would have control over nuclear weapons, and that ultimately, they may be used against the U.S.A. and U.K.  Four or five years ago, I wrote in my Europa article:

It is my understanding that there are US nuclear weapons in the Netherlands, Germany, and elsewhere that are under European control.  The Europeans would likely launch some of them against the USA (probably from aircraft).

Over three years ago, in 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect, I wrote:

The King of the North will probably proclaim “peace and safety” while plotting for the sudden destruction of those opposing him (1 Thessalonians 5:2–3).  This would be a second false proclamation of peace.  The sudden destruction is likely to include a nuclear attack, and could possibly happen in conjunction with a NATO exercise that would catch the U.S.A. and its Anglo-allies off guard (other nations are likely to also be involved).

Decades ago, notice some that the late Herbert W. Armstrong predicted:

The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem (Dan 11:41, Zech. 14:2), will stop this “daily sacrifice”…And the abomination that maketh desolate set up.” What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…From this time (Daniel 12:11) to Christ’s coming will be 1290 days. Now, verse 12, “Blessed is he that waiteth, and comes to the 1335 days.” Never before have we understood these periods of 1260, 1290. and 1335 days. But it seems evident, now, a blessing is pronounced on us–GOD”S CHURCH–who wait and endure until the 1335 days–approximately 1335 days prior to Christ’s coming. But since no one can know the day or hour of His coming, we probably shall not be able to know the exact day this 1335 days begins. But apparently that is the time when OUR WORK SHALL END. That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beast’s armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). He also believed that the Germans would lead the above attack as the following helps confirm:

I have been telling you all along that Russia is not going to plunge us into World War III now. Russia is not going to attack the United States. I have been telling you, even though we look on Germany as an ally, that Germany is the nation for us to WATCH.  (Armstrong HW.  Biggest World New Happening in Germany.  Plain Truth. August 1959, p. 3)

And while other technologically advanced weapons could also be expected to be used, nuclear weapons do cause the types of destruction and devastation that the Bible shows will come to the U.S.A. and its British-descended allies like the U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
