Read an email newsletter a few minutes ago that contained the following :

When confronted with the false dilemma of the democratic political process, many individuals settle for the “less of two evils” as a kind of compromise. But one suspects (or hopes) they do so with a certain degree of moral discomfort. Ask a disciple of the Elephant Party, for example, if he agrees with the murderous drone attacks this moment underway in Pakistan and you will likely offend a delicate delusion of “Democrats for Peace.” Similarly, press any Donkey Party advocate on the issue of economic freedom and watch them squirm under close scrutiny of their own candidate’s position vis-à-vis the IRS, the Federal Reserve, the indigestible, 75,000- page tax code, etc., etc., etc….

Contrary to the popular snipe that “only those who vote have the right to complain,” common sense leads us to quite the opposite conclusion. It is only those who have not aggressed against others who have the right to complain when they are aggressed against. Those who, to invert a phrase, “feed the mouth that bites them,” may stand firmly, but do so on shaky ground.

A vote for either evil is nonetheless a vote for evil. (Daily Reckoning, October 19, 2012)

I have documented some other evils that both major USA presidential candidates espouse previously (see Romney and Obama on ‘Social Issues’).  It is interesting to see a secular, non-COG source, come to similar conclusions regarding the ‘democratic system’ and this US presidential election.

Of course, many professing Christians believe that they need to vote even though that concept is not endorsed in the Bible.  But notice two concepts that are:

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).

2 You shall not follow a crowd to do evil (Exodus 23:2)

The “lesser of two evils” is still not good.

Those who believe that it is their “Christian duty” to vote (even though that “duty” is not specified in the Bible), seem to have overlooked some prophecies related to political leaders in the end times:

12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

End time leaders are expected to cause problems and lead society into error as the Prophet Isaiah was inspired to write–sadly this has been happening more and more in the USA, etc.

While it is true, that like the King of Ninevah (Jonah 3:5-6), political leaders could call for national repentance after enough people begin a fast, the reality is that this simply is not something that many of them ever seriously consider, let alone do. It seems that this will not happen (unless perhaps after the prophesied destruction).

Neither the current US President nor Candidate Romney has called for national repentance and, even if either did, it is not likely that they would call for repentance for Americans to go to the faith of the original Church of God of the New Testament.

But personal repentance still remains an option–and all should decide that is the direction now to go.  As far as secular leaders go, true Christians follow the Apostle Paul’s admonition and pray for them 1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Today, EU President Herman Van Rompuy announced something of prophetic interest:

The above move greatly increases the power of the European Central Bank (ECB).  While steps have been going in that direction for years, this announcement pretty much gives what will become the future beast power more control over buying and selling:

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.  (Revelation 13:16-18)

Today’s announcement is another significant step in that direction.  Watch (Mark 13:37).

Herman Van Rompuy is that same leader that earlier this year claimed that were would not be a “United States of Europe” (see On ‘Europe Day’ Van Rompuy says EU ‘Never to become the United States of Europe,’ Yet Farage Says Dictatorship Planned). Yet, he keeps promoting more unification in Europe and giving more power to central European authorities.  And Europe, despite its bumps, is moving towards greater unity (though ultimately, it will be more of a dictatorship than what has typically been seen in the US of A). And today’s news reports show that, despite a lot of Euro-skeptics, that Europe is moving in the direction that Bible prophecy indicates that it must.

Eventually, Europe will end up with a dictatorial leader (Revelation 13). And while now is not quite yet the dictator’s time, despite expected unification problems (Daniel 2:40-43), a major dictator in Europe (whom I still do not anticipate at this time will be Herman van Rompuy) will rise up (Revelation 13:1-8), Europe will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13), and become the final King of the North, European Beast power of Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:21-44).

And this will not be good for the United States of America (nor the British), and ultimately not the Europeans.

Received an email a few hours ago from The Fatima Center that contained the following:

In Rome this month, the Year of Faith was launched with a ceremony commemorating the 50th (that’s right, 50^th), anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council on Oct. 11, 1962… Young Father Ratzinger was a peritus at the Council, i.e. a theological expert available for consultation by the Archbishop of Cologne, Joseph Frings…

One can be reasonably certain, however, that, like the Pope, these Vatican II vets see the Council as a grand event and their participation in it as the high-point of their lives…

One way to understand the seeming contradictions of the current papacy is to bear in mind always that Pope Benedict remains a creature of Vatican II. Beneath the traditional papal robes is the 35-year-old theologian in the business suit who glories in the belief that he’s revolutionizing the Church.

For Catholics loyal to the Magisterium, Pope Benedict appears an ambivalent figure. He angers progressives by his concessions to Traditionalists, such as Summorum Pontificum and the lifting of the alleged excommunications of the bishops of the Society of St. Pius X, and then angers these same traditionalists with concessions to progressives, such as his lavish praise for the supposed benefits to the life of the Church made by the innovations of Vatican II and the appointment to Vatican posts of heterodox figures such as Archbishop Gerhard Müller…

Just who is Pope Benedict, theologically speaking? He appears to be one who believes in the resolution of opposites through the dialectic. In a word, he is a proponent of compromise…Pope Benedict appears as the soul of civility. But civility is not among the heroic virtues…

Our Lady came to Fatima to save our souls. She came especially for us living in the Church today…

We know, for example, the Secret of Fatima — the part that is not yet published — condemns errors that would come into the Church as a result of Vatican Council II. We need to see and hear Our Lady’s actual words so that we do not fall into heresy…We need the actual text of the Third Secret now in its entirety — so we can save our souls!

It is interesting to me that those who claim to be such devout Catholics so dislike their pontiff and prefer to look to Mary, over Jesus, to solve the problems of humankind.  The position of the Fatimists regarding a secret from an apparition to save souls is totally blasphemous.  Fatimists are professing Roman Catholics who seem to put more of their faith in an apparition they hope was Mary than they do in the Bible.

I wrote a book titled Fatima Shock! to warn people that in the future apparitions that most people will think are Mary will likely be part of the signs and lying wonders that the Bible warns will deceive the world (it also gives more information of what the Fatimists really think of their pope as well as their view of what the so-called undisclosed portion of the “third secret”) contains.

Regarding Marian apparitions, notice what Dr. Roderick C. Meredith of the Living Church of God warned about in his May 2012 semi-annual letter:

All kinds of “miracles,” visions of the Virgin Mary and other strange sights and events will begin to take place—startling many…(Meredith RC. Semi-annual TW subscriber letter, May 18, 2012)

Although most non-Catholics do not think that Fatima can affect them, if they live long enough this century, they will find that this is not the case. Fatima is a much bigger deal than people realize and seems to tie into a variety of prophecies throughout the Bible (e.g. Isaiah 47, Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 17). How apparitions are likely to affect the world at the end seems to be a missing dimension in understanding prophecy by most who profess Christ. Although Dr. Meredith has warned about the sorcery of “Lady of the Kingdoms” in Isaiah 47 affecting end times in at least one booklet, relatively few in the Church of God truly understand how important it is to better know the truth about that “Lady.” The dangers, and even more details, are covered in my book Fatima Shock! What the Vatican Does Not Want You to Know About Fatima, Dogmas of Mary, and Future Apparitions.

Organic foods have been in the news lately. Here are a couple of reports:

For six of the last eleven years the world has consumed more food than it has produced. This year, drought in the United States and elsewhere has put even more pressure on global food supplies than usual. As a result, global food reserves have reached their lowest level in almost 40 years. Experts are warning that if next summer is similar to this summer that it could be enough to trigger a major global food crisis.  http://etfdailynews.com/2012/10/16/global-food-reserves-have-reached-their-lowest-level-in-almost-40-years/

There are concerns about rising food prices in China, though some feel that this may not happen for nearly two decades:

Food prices in China may be relatively insulated from the volatile global food market and thus the country can ensure food security. But the country could become vulnerable to outside shocks in the future.

Oxfam’s research on extreme weather and extreme food prices shows how a drought in the United States (similar to one this year) in 2030 could temporarily raise the prices of corn and wheat in China by 76 and 55 percent…

Food prices in China will become increasingly vulnerable to price shocks driven by extreme weather in major crop exporting regions. More extreme weather is projected for regions exporting wheat (that is, the US) and rice (that is, East Asia, the US and India).

Food prices more often than not determine whether people get enough to eat, especially the poorest who spend 75 percent of their income on food. After decades of success of the global fight against hunger, the global food crisis of 2007-08 pushed back tens, even hundreds of millions of people into hunger and poverty. Since the 2007-08 crisis, the global number of chronically undernourished people has not been decreasing.

Now, almost 870 million people go hungry every day across the world according to revised UN figures published last week. China has been very successful in its fight against hunger, but it still has about 130 million undernourished people, according to a report of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization of 2011.  http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/opinion/2012-10/16/content_15819772.htm

The Bible is tells of a time that there will be food shortages and much more serious food inflation:

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:

15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’” (Ezekiel 5:15-17)

Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword. The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation–this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.

But how can China be at all relevant to this?

Notice an observation from a German source several years ago:

No country is immune to the effects of tightening food supplies, not even the United States.

If China turns to the world market for massive quantities of grain, as it recently has done for soybeans, it will undoubtedly look to the United States, which dominates world grain exports. For US consumers, the prospect of competing for the US grain harvest with 1.3 billion Chinese consumers with fast-rising incomes is a nightmare scenario. It would be tempting for the United States to restrict exports, but this is not an option with China which now holds well over one trillion US dollars. Like it or not, US consumers will share their grain with Chinese consumers regardless of how high food prices rise.

If the food crisis worsens, national restrictions on grain exports coupled with various bilateral arrangements could tie down much of the exportable supply of grain, making it increasingly difficult if not impossible for weaker, less affluent countries to find grain to import. Many countries heavily dependent on imports could be left out, and the result would be hundreds of millions of desperate people. Desperate people do desperate things: They riot, they fight over food, they overthrow governments, and they mass migrate to more food-secure countries.

In many countries the social order has already begun to break down in the face of soaring food prices and spreading hunger. Deadly food riots broke out in a number of countries in 2008. In Egypt several people died in fights in government-subsidized bread lines. Food riots in Yemen turned deadly, taking at least a dozen lives. In Cameroon the food riot death toll was twice as high (The Geopolitics of Food Scarcity. Spiegel – Feb 11, 2009 http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,606937,00.html).

The USA still owes China massive amounts of money.  The time will come when the Chinese will want to be repaid and they likely will want at least some food.  Americans act like this cannot happen, but it can.  Hunger, in a broad way, will come to the USA.

We are seeing the stage being set right now, especially with the combination of rising USA debt and weather problems.  And they will both likely worsen in the next several years.

In his commentary today, LCG’s Roger Meyer wrote the following:

Recessions, unemployment, mortgage defaults, bankruptcies, debt and poverty: these negative, economically-related terms appear in today’s headlines across the globe. Why? What’s wrong with the world’s economies?

An economy is about producing and consuming goods and services. There are plenty of goods and services available, and plenty of consumers with a world population at nearly seven billion. Yet, the world’s economies are stumbling and even teetering on the edge of collapse in some cases. And many people are without even basic necessities.

The world’s economies need to be fixed. Some say that to cure the economies we need more laws, more government intervention, more regulation, better fiscal controls and so on. Some say we need more economic stimulus—more spending. Others say the opposite, that we need less government interference, regulations and spending to let free enterprise reign.

Some blame business and manufacturing for the current state of economic affairs. Some blame government for stymieing business investment, risk taking and hiring. Some blame consumers for being fearful and not spending. What is the real cause of these economic problems and how can it be fixed?

There are definite reasons why we find so many problems in the global economy. There are basic economic laws and principles which, if followed, produce positive results. Unfortunately, these principles are not taught in the schools and colleges. Economic professors would likely scoff at these laws as naïve, unsophisticated and impractical.

These principles are in a book that, though a best seller, is largely ignored and rejected. But these are principles that work because the Creator has declared it to be so. The book is the Bible.

Unlike man’s laws, God’s laws are simple, broad principles. In fact, all of God’s laws are summed up in the two broad principles of love toward God and love toward neighbor (Matthew 22:34-40; Leviticus 19:18). God’s economic laws also apply to these broad principles.

Concerning love toward God, Christ said, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21). To render means to give, acknowledging the obligation.

What belongs to God? “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord… And concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord” (Leviticus 27:30, 32).

This principle is reiterated in Proverbs. “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9–10).

Christ said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). This reflects the law that says, “When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest” (Leviticus 19:9; 23:22). Also, “When you reap your harvest in your field, and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands” (Deuteronomy 24:19).

There are other laws of God which, if followed, would fundamentally change the world’s economies. God gave laws concerning possessing land, resting the land once every seven years and the Jubilee year. God’s laws cover lending of money. “If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest” (Exodus 22:25; Leviticus 25:36; Deuteronomy 23:19).

The economies of the world will change.

First the current world order with the USA and the Anglo-descended nations will change–and this is starting to happen.  Second, a power in Europe will control much of the world’s economies for a while–and some of the steps for this to occur have already happened.  And third, after massive devastation, Jesus will return and establish His kingdom.

And Jesus will return relatively soon.

An attempted terrorist attack intended for Wednesday morning in New York City has been foiled:

FBI arrests man for attempting to bomb New York Federal Reserve

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The FBI on Wednesday arrested a Bangladeshi man in a sting operation on charges he attempted to blow up the New York Federal Reserve Bank with what he believed was a 1,000-pound (450-kg) bomb, federal authorities said.

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, 21, faces charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to al Qaeda, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

It is good that the intent of the terrorist did not happen.

But this does not mean that the USA will not be hit by terrorists in the future–it will.  Many wish to harm the USA, and harm will come.

The Bible warns about the pride of power to be broken (Leviticus 26:19)–and I have long reported that this includes military power and the US dollar. And while most people consider both of those to be strong today, they will not remain that way. Additionally, agricultural production is another one of the USA’s prides. It too will be broken and I strongly believe that weather problems and pestilences, as well as specifically problems associated with its GMO–genetically-modified organisms–crops will be involved in the USA’s downfall. Food shortages are coming soon and are part of the sorrows that precede the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:4-8,21).

Why will all this happen?

Because of sin:

4 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,
15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
16 I also will do this to you:
I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart.
And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies.
Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.

18 ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
19 I will break the pride of your power;
I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
20 And your strength shall be spent in vain;
for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. (Leviticus 26:14-20)

Debt is weakening the USA. Pests are starting to develop ways to destroy GMO crops (Pestilence Issues and Genetically-Modified Corn). Terrors have already hit the USA. And this has resulted in massive losses of freedom and privacy, as well as the fact that airport security personnel now pretty much treat passengers as potential terrorists.

But the USA is becoming less able to afford this and other forms of “security.”

National repentance is the only real long-term hope for the USA and the other Anglo-nations (and it seems to be too late for that, but personal repentance is still possible), There are carnal solutions that the Anglo-nations could do now that could help extend the situation, but too many of their leaders have rejected God and have the type of “reprobate mind” that prevents them from seeing even those “convenient” options (cf. Romans 1:18-32, KJV).

According to Bible prophecy, the end of the Anglo-dominance of the world is coming (Jeremiah 30:7; Daniel 11:39), and the final age of the Gentiles (Luke 21:20-24; Daniel 11:39) will be here in a relatively few years. And there are likely to be a lot more troubles (Mark 13:8) before it gets even worse (Mark 13:19-20).

Many will be observing “Halloween” in two weeks. Many consider that it is a holiday appropriate for “Christians.”

One article at the mislabeled Christianity Today starts out with the statement, “I love Halloween” (Mendenhall D. A Halloween Solution. Christianity Today, October 31, 2005. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2005/novemberweb-only/13.0.html).

But the origins of today’s Halloween are not biblical.

Do Halloween and Christianity belong together?

Halloween is an old English word which means ” hallowed evening”. It is the night before the Roman Catholic holiday that they claim to have adopted from the Eastern Orthodox now called All Saints Day (which in Mexico is celebrated as “the Day of the Dead”). Part of the public Catholic rationale for All Saints Day is that they have so many saints they wish to honor that they decided to lump all those without a specific day into this one. While some Catholics support Halloween, others oppose it.

Origins

It is believed that Halloween contains many of the remnants of an autumn holiday celebrated by the Druids called Samhain (apparently pronounced “sah-van” though some say SAH win or SOW in–and apparently meaning “summers end”). There historically have been pagan figures with names that are similar to this. For example, there was a Celtic hero named Samain or Sawan who supposedly owned a magical cow. In other pagan religions, there was Samana (“the leveler”) the name of an Aryan God of Death (a.k.a. Yama, Sradhadeva, Antaka, or Kritanta) according to the ancient Veda scriptures of Hinduism and Shamash was the Sun God of the Assyrians and Babylonians. Some of the idea for modern costumes came via France.

Essentially, the timing of Halloween seems to be related to certain movements of the sun. Notice the following:

Halloween is date of astronomical interest. It has to do with seasons: Halloween is a cross-quarter date, approximately midway between an equinox and a solstice. There are four cross-quarter dates throughout the year, and each is a minor holiday: Groundhog Day (Feb. 2nd), May Day (May 1st), Lammas Day (Aug. 1st), and Halloween (Oct. 31st).

“Long ago, the Celts of the British Isles used cross-quarter days to mark the beginnings of seasons. Winter began with Halloween, or as they called it, Samhain,” says John Mosley of the Griffith Observatory.

“Halloween marked the transition between summer and winter, light and dark — and life and death. On that one night, according to folklore, those who had died during the previous year returned for a final visit to their former homes. People set out food and lit fires to aid them on their journey — but remained on guard for mischief the spirits might do.” (Spooky Astronomy. http://spaceweather.com/ present 10/31/07).

Notice that in Asia, versions of this day, somewhat like the Celts and the pre-Hispanic Mexicans, it is celebrated near the first of August:

Japan has its own Halloween-type celebration known as “O-bon,” an old Buddhist holiday meant to honor ancestors. It takes place in mid-August or July. Graves are visited and cleaned, food offerings are made, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide spirits, and a ritualized dance called “bon-odori” takes place to welcome them. On the last day of O-bon, to guide spirits on their journey, the Japanese partake in a ceremony called “Toro nagashi,” in which paper lanterns are floated down a river.

O-bon originates from the Chinese Buddhist celebration of “Ullambana,” which has the same notion that during this time, spirits are able to move among us.

The Ullambana Sutra, a traditionally Indian story, is the scripture that addresses this day, with the story of Mahamaudgalyayana, a disciple of Buddha, whose mother had been reborn into a lower realm. Though interpretations of the story vary, Buddha’s instructions to his student mirror modern practices of the day, which is to offer food and pray for the souls of both living and dead relatives. People also would give donations to monks.

The current celebration in Taiwan and China of the Ghost Festival pays homage to this Buddhist holiday, but includes the practices of burning money, clothes and goods, which are believed to then make it to the spirit world in full, as well as the release of paper boats and lanterns into rivers (Meaning, sanctity of Halloween is lost in translation St. Cloud Times, MN – Oct 21, 2007 http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071021/OPINION/110210041/1006/NEWS01).

Hence, the foundations of Halloween are not only Western, and certainly not of Christian origin.

Satan has successfully gotten many of his holidays endorsed by many cultures and religions of the world.

Druids and Bone Fires

Growing up I was familiar with bonfires, and simply thought that they were warm and provided light. But later I learned that there origins were related to Halloween.

Notice that:

The Druids, and order of priests in ancient Gaul and Britain, believed that on Halloween, ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches, and elves came out to harm people. They thought the cat was sacred and believed that cats had once been human beings but were changed for punishment for their evil deeds. From these Druid beliefs come the present-day use of witches, ghosts, and cats in Halloween festivities…The custom of using leaves, pumpkins, and corn stalks as Halloween decorations comes from the Druids. The early peoples of Europe also had a festival similar to the Druid holiday…In the 700s, the Roman Catholic Church named November 1 as All Saints’ Day. The old pagan customs and the Christian feast day were combined into the Halloween festival [Halloween. World Book, vol 9. Chicago, 1966: 25-26].

The origins of Halloween specifically can be traced back to the ancient Celts (who lived in what is now known as Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern France) and their Druid priests. The end of October commemerated their festival of the waning year…Druids believed that during this season spirits walked, and evil held power over the souls of men. On October 31, their New Year’s Eve, great bonfires were kindled, which were thought to simulate the sun to procure blessings for the entire succeeding year. The fires remained burning as a means to frighten away evil spirits. The Druids held these early Halloween celebrations in honor of Samhain, also known as Lord of the Dead, whose festival fell on November 1. There bonfires, or “bone fires”, were also used in animal and human sacrifice–thus the name. The tradition of lighting a bonfire has continued to modern times (Coulter F.R. Occult Holiday–or–God’s Holy Days–Which? York Publishing Company, Hollister (CA) 2006).

Growing up, no one I knew ever mentioned that bonfires originally were bone fires.

Jack-O-Lanterns

The origin of jack-o-lanterns is somewhat amusing.

The Irish have a story that a man named Jack died who was too much of a miser to be with God and was not allowed to be with the devil since he had played practical jokes on him. Since Jack had nowhere to go, he was to walk the earth carrying a lantern until Judgment Day.

The Bible

In Leviticus chapter 23, it lists

“The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts” (vs.2).

All Saints’ Day is not listed as one of them. All Saints’ Day is not a biblically enjoined feast day for Christians (there is not any hint of it in the Bible; it may even be warned against in Deut 4:15-24). Actually the Bible warns against worshipping God the way the pagans, etc. did (Leviticus 18:3; Deuteronomy 12:31, Jeremiah 10:2-3).

The Bible repeatedly warns against the practices of witches (Exodus 22:18; Deuteronomy 18:10, Galatians 5:20) and dealing with ghosts/etc. (Deuteronomy 18:11, I Chronicles 10:13).

The Muslim Brotherhood is interested in Jordan, but is not having the influence that it wants:

Following successful campaigns in Egypt, Libya and other Middle East and North African nations, the Muslim Brotherhood now is trying to destabilize and possibly overthrow Jordan’s government, according to reports… Mass demonstrations in the capital Amman were sparked by a decision by Jordan’s King Abdullah to dissolve the parliament ahead of Muslim Brotherhood protests planned for Friday. Abdullah is calling for early elections.

But Jordan’s only effective opposition, the Islamic Action Front (IAF) which is the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, have already said they will boycott the vote because nothing has been done to overhaul an electoral system skewed against them.

The Muslim Brotherhood wants as its top priority a pan-national Islamic caliphate ruled by a religious leader known as an  Imam, who politically is called a Caliph.

This type of Islamic confederation is consistent with one prophesied in the Bible (Ezekiel 30:1-8) that is to be led by one it calls the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).

Yet, this is not something that the King of Jordan wants, but for a while Jordan likely will have to make some type of deal to cooperate–but the Bible suggests that Jordan will not truly be a close ally for when the King of the North invades the King of the South, areas that are currently part of Jordan (its capital, for example, is Amman) is shown to escape–hence Jordan will likely always be somewhat of a Western ally, even once part of the King of the South confederation:

40 At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. (Daniel 11:40-42).

So, at least some in Jordanian lands will escape the wrath of the final King of the North.  And this may be because leaders in Jordan will not trust the final King of the South (and likely provide some support/information to the final King of the North, cf. Daniel 11:25-26 which shows that the King of the South will be betrayed by one or more he thought were allied with him).

Despite concerns from Jordan and certain other Islamic-dominated nations, one of the leaders associated with the Muslim Brotherhood may well become the King of the South that the Bible foretells (Daniel 11:40-43) and Jordan will, for a  while, provide at least some apparent support.

Since Jesus and the Apostles kept the Sabbaths and the Holy Days, why do most who profess Christ not observe them? Many claim that Ignatius of Antioch had a writing that showed that the Sabbath was done away by the early second century.  This misinformation is all over the internet.

The Catholics of Rome consider October 17th as the day to honor Ignatius of Antioch.  And based upon intentional mistranslations of one of his writings (and many renowned Protestant scholars have participated in this), many falsely claim that he showed that the Sabbath was done away.

Yet, that is not true.

Without going in to the mistranslated portion of his writings (which I do in detail in the article Another Look at the Didache, Ignatius, and the Sabbath), let’s look at some of Ignatius’ other writings. Notice something that he wrote in his Letter to the Magnesians:

It is fitting, then, not only to be called Christians, but to be so in reality: as some indeed give one the title of bishop, but do all things without him. Now such persons seem to me to be not possessed of a good conscience, seeing they are not stedfastly gathered together according to the commandment.

The commandment that involves meeting together is the fourth commandment. It is the commandment that says to:

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (Exodus 20:8).

Part of the way the Sabbath day is kept holy is by meeting together for church services (referred to as “an holy convocation” in Leviticus 23:1-3). There is no direct statement anywhere in the Bible requiring a weekly convocation on Sunday. In his Letter to the Romans, Ignatius observed that true Christians kept the commandments:

I also salute in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father: to those who are united, both according to the flesh and spirit, to every one of His commandments…

But if any one preach the Jewish law unto you, listen not to him. For it is better to hearken to Christian doctrine from a man who has been circumcised, than to Judaism from one uncircumcised. But if either of such persons do not speak concerning Jesus Christ, they are in my judgment but as monuments and sepulchres of the dead, upon which are written only the names of men. Flee therefore the wicked devices and snares of the prince of this world, lest at any time being conquered by his artifices, ye grow weak in your love.

Notice that Ignatius is once again complaining about Judaic customs that are not from the Bible. How do we know that the practices that Ignatius is referring to are not from the Bible? Because Ignatius is clearly saying to avoid snares from “the prince of the world”. The prince Ignatius is referring to is Satan (see Ephesians 2:2), and since the Sabbath did not come from Satan, as it came from God (see Genesis 2:1-3), Ignatius would not refer to something that God made as wicked. Furthermore, notice that Ignatius mentioned about keeping “every one of His commandments”, thus this is not simply an admonition to love, but to keep all the commandments. In his Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Ignatius wrote about false Christians:

But I guard you beforehand from those beasts in the shape of men, whom you must not only not receive, but, if it be possible, not even meet with; only you must pray to God for them, if by any means they may be brought to repentance, which, however, will be very difficult. Yet Jesus Christ, who is our true life, has the power of [effecting] this. But if these things were done by our Lord only in appearance, then am I also only in appearance bound. And why have I also surrendered myself to death, to fire, to the sword, to the wild beasts? But, [in fact,] he who is near to the sword is near to God; he that is among the wild beasts is in company with God; provided only he be so in the name of Jesus Christ. I undergo all these things that I may suffer together with Him, He who became a perfect man inwardly strengthening me. Some ignorantly deny Him, or rather have been denied by Him, being the advocates of death rather than of the truth. These persons neither have the prophets persuaded, nor the law of Moses, nor the Gospel even to this day, nor the sufferings we have individually endured. For they think also the same thing regarding us.

Since he writes that some of the false Christians do not have “the law of Moses” it is reasonable to conclude that Ignatius believed that he did have the “law of Moses,” in regards to the ten commandments, including the Sabbath commandment. It may be of at least of passing interest to note that Ignatius referred to the church as the “church of God” four times in his writings (see Letter to the Philadelphians 0:0, 10:1; Letter to the Trallians 2:2; Letter to the Smyrnaeans 0:0).

Ignatius did not do away with the seventh-day Sabbath nor write that it had been somehow do away.

James Malm (a blogger who claims COG ties, but who makes a lot inaccurate statements, improper accusations, and biblically- impossible speculations) once again has posted another speculative prediction that cannot possibly occur.  Here is something he posted yesterday:

Scripture tells us that no agreement can be concluded and ratified until a miracle working final false prophet called “A Desolating Abomination” is set up in the Papacy, Rev 13, 2 Thess; and calls for the new European Order; which will amount to a revival of the unHoly Roman Empire.

Once this false prophet is set up in the Vatican [Due to the advancing age and health problems of Benedict this is now highly likely to be a NEW pope], and he uses his influence to set up the New Europe, he will go to the Holy Place within 75 days of the date he is set up and the tribulation will begin as he visits the Holy Mount and Peace and Safety is proclaimed to be achieved.

It is an interesting note that IF this abomination were to be set up around 6 Oct 2013, then he would go to the Holy Place around Dec 25 2013 to declare peace in the Middle East.

For the past several years, James Malm has had a tendency to have the Great Tribulation start within 1-2 years of some date (which is consistent with the above inaccurate speculation of his above).  I have denounced his dates pretty much every time I have noticed them and of course, have been right every time and his dates have proven to be repeatedly wrong.  His last proven wrong date was to have been about a month ago.  For some details on that, notice something James Malm posted as recently as August 29, 2012:

August 29, 2012: News is fast coming that strongly indicates that Pope Benedict will be empowered to become the abomination in mid Sep!!!…I have speculated that the tribulation could begin this year saying that there was as much as an 80% possibility.

So, James Malm 80% chance proven to be completely wrong and had also proposed the same date in the Summer of 2011–the fact that he stuck to it until a couple of weeks before it was shown to be wrong should show others on how he relies more on his own understanding than watching events like Jesus said (cf. Luke 21:29-36).  James Malm seems to have a trend of speculating on dates in the very near future which biblically have no hope of being fulfilled.  When will his “followers” realize this?

Anyway, there is no possible chance that Pope Benedict will set up the abomination that James Malm is talking about in 2013 either.  This will not happen for at least 3 1/2 years, and much likely longer than that, and it is unlikely that Pope Benedict would be the one for many reasons (including his age and his apparent actual beliefs).

There is no possibility that the Great Tribulation can happen in 2013 or 2014 and those who rely on the Bible have realized this for at least the past three years. It is only those who overlook scripture and rely on their own views who make the mistake of thinking that the Great Tribulation can, or could, happen in 2012/2013/2014.

James Malm really should have read my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect when it came out three years ago instead of criticizing it without reading it. World events have already aligned with at least two dozen predictions in it and more will as well.

If James Malm would have paid proper attention to it, it would have saved him from teaching that there was any possibility of the Great Tribulation beginning in 2012.

James Malm will be proven wrong again.  His followers really should read the Bible and if they still think he could possibly be right, also read 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect as it will explain a lot of what James Malm (and others) do not understand.

The Great Tribulation is coming, but it will not begin in 2012 or 2013.
