In his commentary today, Ian West of the Living Church of God has the following:

In 1964, academic and social critic Donald Horne wrote The Lucky Country—a book about his homeland Australia. His title came from the opening words of the book’s last chapter: “Australia is a lucky country, run by second-rate people who share its luck.” In his 1976 sequel, Death of the Lucky Country, Horne clarified his meaning regarding Australia’s “luck.” He had not meant that the country had abundant mineral resources. “I had in mind the idea of Australia as a British derived society whose prosperity in the great age of manufacturing came from the luck of its historical origins… In the lucky style we have never ‘earned’ our democracy. We simply went along with some British habits.”

Horne was correct, in that the prosperity of Australia came from its historical origins—but he certainly was not aware of how deep the true historical origins really are.

As a matter of fact, they go back thousands of years, long before Britain even existed. Actually, the British people are the descendants of Joseph’s son Ephraim, who was blessed by the patriarch Jacob and was prophesied to “become a multitude of nations” (Genesis 48:19). Just prior to his death, Jacob prophesied regarding the future for each of his twelve sons in the end times. Concerning Joseph, he said, “Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a well; his branches run over the wall… By the God of your father who will help you, and by the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb. The blessings of your father have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. They shall be on the head of Joseph and on the crown of him who was separate from his brothers” (Genesis 49:22, 25-26).

The nation of Australia has been a recipient of these promises. That is not a matter of being “lucky,” but rather having been truly blessed by God as a result of the promise made to Joseph over three thousand years ago. Sadly, because of disobedience to God, these blessings are being taken away, as they are for all of the Israelite nations. The children of Israel were admonished by Moses to “choose life” that God’s blessings would be maintained and their obedience rewarded (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). However, even he predicted that their downfall would come when they walked astray from God (Deuteronomy 31:29) and would suffer in the “latter days.” We see this happening today, and the same pattern of curses are now falling on the descendants of the Israelite people—modern America, Britain and their relatives around the world. The same heart of disobedience remains—although God will one day change that as well and redeem His people (Ezekiel 36:26; Hosea 3:5).

Australia has done quite well the past few years. Yet, like the other Anglo-descended nations, it too needs repentance as it will suffer in the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7).  Those who have received various blessings from God need to realize that the Bible also shows that cursings from God are also promised for the disobedient.

Australia made the secular news for different reason today:

Blood Red Beach Gets (Almost) Everyone Out of the Water

ABC News – Nov 27, 2012

Sydney’s famous beaches, popular with surfers, looked more like a scene out of a horror movie today when the waters were stained blood red from an algae bloom. Bondi Beach, nearby Clovelly Beach and Gordon’s Bay were closed while authorities tested the water…Algae blooms are most prevalent in hot, humid weather, the newspaper reported. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2012/11/blood-red-beach-gets-almost-everyone-out-of-the-water/

I have actually visited Bondi Beach and when I was there the water looked fairly normal.  Yet, the photo I saw related to the above news item showed it blood red.

Notice the following prophecy:

8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.  (Revelation 8:8)

Some believe that the physical reason that the sea will look like blood is because of the overgrowth of algae that could occur if heated up.  If so, what is happening near several beaches in Australia is a foretaste of the prophecy in Revelation 8:8.

Autism has been on the rise in the USA and certain other lands.  Immunizations, foods, increased genetic predisposition, and toxins have been speculated as being possible cause for this rise.  Because of the neurological problems associated with autism, I have long felt that it is likely caused by a combination of environmental toxins with genetic predisposition.  A newly released study seems to support my view here:

Children with autism are two to three times more likely than other children to have been exposed to car exhaust, smog, and other air pollutants during their earliest days, according to a new study.

That new research adds to a mounting body of evidence that shows a link between early-life exposure to pollution and autism spectrum disorders…

“We’re not saying that air pollution causes autism. The widespread and growing use of genetically modified (GMO) “foods,” pesticides, herbicides, synthetic vitamins, combined with air and other environmental pollution, including exposure to huge amounts of plastics, etc. puts a toxic load on the human body that seems to increase the risk for autism.

While I do not believe that air pollution is the only cause of autism, it certainly is a risk factor.  Humans, in general, have been too willing to pollute the environment, including the air, water, ground, and food supply.  There are consequences to those and other behaviors (Galatians 6:7-8′ Romans 1:18-32).

One of the reasons that Jesus is returning is to “destroy those who destroy the earth” (Revelation 11:18).

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”  Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!  (Revelation 22:20)

Non-GMO and GMO-Breeding for Plants

Received the following a few hours ago about GMOs (genetically-modified organisms) and risk to human health in the current Daily Reckoning (two different authors):

“Is Genetically Modified Food Killing Us?” Alex Daley asks in today’s Daily Reckoning. “Probably not,” he confidently responds to his own question. But the worldwide scientific community is slightly less confident. The long-term effects of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are simply unknowable…

No, the problem with GMOs is not that they might kill us; the problem is that we have no idea how they might kill us. We have no idea if they might harm us quickly, or slowly…or not at all.

More importantly, we have no idea if — down the road — they might catastrophically alter the genetic traits of various organisms — in particular, the human organism. Therefore, the entire GMO experiment promises feast or famine…literally. (Eric Fry)

The new wheat is in early-stage field trials (i.e., it’s been planted to grow somewhere, but has not yet been tested for human consumption), part of a multi-year process on its way to potential approval and not unlike the rigorous process many drugs go through. The researchers conducting this trial are using RNAi to turn down the production of glycogen. They are targeting the production of the wheat branching enzyme which, if suppressed, would result in a much lower starch level for the wheat. The result would be a grain with a lower glycemic index — i.e., healthier wheat.

This is a noble goal. However, Professors Heinemann and Carman warn, there’s a risk that the gene-silencing done to these plants might make its way into humans and wreak havoc on our bodies. In their press conference and subsequent papers, they describe the possibility that the siRNA molecules — which are pretty hardy little chemicals and not easily gotten rid of — could wind up interacting with our RNA.

If their theories prove true, the results might be as bad as mimicking glycogen storage disease IV, a super-rare genetic disorder which almost always leads to early childhood death…the wheat might cause very severe adverse reactions in humans. (Alex Daley)

Now, genetically modified wheat is not yet part of the human food supply, but it seems to be getting closer.  Thousands of years ago, God inspired one of his prophets to pen the following:

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.  (Isaiah 55:2)

Most bread is made from wheat.  In the relatively near future, much bread may be made from GMO wheat.  Is that and/or white flour bread what God warned about?  Or is He including all kinds of excessively processed foods?  I tend to believe both are likely.  Processed foods, by the way, seem to be a major factor in obesity–and obesity has become a major problem in many parts of the Western world, especially in the Anglo-dominated lands like the USA (see Obesity and Prophecy).

Over a decade ago, I started to get published for my positions against genetically-modified foods (Thiel R. Labeling of genetically modified foods should be a fundamental consumer right. HealthKeepers, 2000; 2 (3):16-19; Thiel R. ANMA’s official position on genetically-modified foods. ANMA Monitor, 1999;3(4)5-8). And since then, more and more information has come to light suggesting dangers to the environment and health related to GMOs.

About a year and a half ago I warned:

In the “Great Depression” most Americans and Brits had skills in growing food. This is no longer the case. Furthermore, modern crops have gotten more complicated as so many seeds are hybrids that they will not actually grow the type of foods most in the USA and UK are used to having. The coming food problems will also get worse once one or more genetically-modified crops suffers from some type of pestilence. The USA, to cite one example, could lose virtually all of its wheat or corn because of the dependence on genetically modified versions (which is especially true for crops like corn and soy). Prophecy for famines will be fulfilled (Matthew 24:7-8). (From China Buying USA Food, In Depression Will Chinese Eat While Americans & Brits Starve? May 21, 2010)

Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:

15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’” (Ezekiel 5:15-17)

Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword. The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation–this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.

The increasing use of genetically modified organisms for many of the grain crops in the USA is putting parts of humanity at major increased risk of unintended consequences such as famine and disease pestilences. Most of the corn and soy beans produced in the USA are genetically-modified. Soon, much of the wheat will be. Directly and indirectly, the USA and its Anglo-allies will cause most of the problems that it will be experiencing in the next several years.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. (From Super Wheat: Solution or Disaster Awaiting? June 10, 2011)

So, it may be that the Anglo-nations will experience some real hunger as well as disease and/or other pestilences (that could possibly at least partially be triggered by excessive reliance on genetically-modified organisms as part of their agricultural production) that will weaken them enough so that the USA and its Anglo-allies will then be considered attackable by some of their enemies…

Because of sin, greed, and ignorance, America has been into producing genetically-modified foods. These “foods” are genetically identical which makes them susceptible to total elimination via famine-causing pestilential organisms. I have long suspected that the time will come when some type of pestilence will hit America’s genetically-modified grain crops like corn and wreak havoc on the land. Enough so, that this may embolden its enemies to attack Britain and/or the USA to begin the Great Tribulation. (Can the Great Tribulation Begin in 2011, 2012, or 2013? Spring 2011)

Basically, I have long suspected that likely crop failures associated with GMO grains are putting the USA and its Anglo-allies at extreme risk of being destroyed. Most Americans do not like to accept this, but it is nonetheless true.

Back in September 2012, the following was published as reason ten as to why US President Barack Obama was apocalyptic in my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States:

Barack Obama broke a campaign pledge about requiring that genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in foods be labeled (Philpott T. Obama’s broken promise on GMO Food Labeling. Mother Jones, October 6, 2011). And while he at some point in time may change on this, the fact is that he has taken steps to encourage the production and use of GMO “foods” (cf. Isaiah 55:2) (Anderman RH. Obama Deregulates GMO Crops Despite Supreme Court Injunction. Tikkun, June 2, 2011; Huff EA. The Obama administration love affair with GMOs is selling America down the river for agricultural ruin. Natural News, August 21, 2011). Increased reliance on GMOs by the United States puts the nation at major risk for nearly complete crop failures. The Bible warns that famines (Matthew 24:7) and food shortages (Revelation 6:5-6) are coming and Barack Obama has further helped set the stage for this. (Thiel B. The time is coming when the USA will have severe food shortages. And at that same time, the USA may have to provide grain to China and other creditors that it owes when some Americans will be starving. The reliance on genetically-modified grain crops will likely contribute to disaster in the USA. It may even contribute to food inflation later this year.

Information in today’s post provides further secular proof that my long-held beliefs concerning the risks of genetically-modified foods are getting more current scientific validation.  They are hazardous, they may cause major health problems, and possibly may be setting those that rely on them up for famine.

While we are not there yet for total GMO crop failure, this time is coming soon (and is likely to be the result of weather and other factors as well).  But until then, there are dangers associated with eating GMO foods.

A celebrity made a blasphemous statement about USA President Obama:

But, because of his timing, background, and policies, Barack Obama is apocalyptic and will help enable the rise of the King of the North and the King of the South, and hence the destruction of the United States.

Iran, who probably has a lot of reason to fear Barack Obama, is apparently pleased that he was re-elected:

Smooth sailing ahead for nuclear ambitions

In his first news conference after re-election, President Obama said there was still time for a diplomatic solution on Iran’s nuclear program and that Iran could enjoy “peaceful nuclear power” if it meets international obligations.

Diplomacy has failed and international sanctions, though having some effect, have not persuaded the radicals ruling Iran to stop their illicit nuclear program. The economic screws must be tightened.

Iranian leaders did not hide their satisfaction in Mr. Obama’s re-election and the prospect of more negotiations, which, in their view, will buy them more time to develop nuclear weapons…

And while Mitt Romney may have been a tougher one for Iran to deal with, Iran is making a mistake if it feels that getting Barack Obama in office ultimately will be good for it.   Believing that will be an error–the current government of Iran will change and/or be at least partially neutralized and Barack Obama may well play a part in that.

Now there is another reason that Iran probably was pleased with Barack Obama]s re-election, years ago Iran posted a prophetic item that seemed to point to Barack Obama and has made other statements that he could be involved in.  Here is some of what I included of them in my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States:

According to a commentary by Amir Taheri in Forbes, there is an amazing old Shi’ite prophecy that some in Iran believe seems to fit Barack Hussein Obama personally:

Is Barack Obama the “promised warrior” coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?

…a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.

Because we are near the end of times and Barack Hussein Obama is considered to be black and he is now the new “ruler in the West“ and he does lead the “strongest army on earth,“ it makes sense that certain Shi’ite Muslims believe that he may fit that Islamic prophecy.  Apparently this prediction shows that some type of deal is made between the Mahdi (Arabic for “the guided one“) and the West.

Is any of that specific to Barack Obama?

It is difficult to know for certain, other than to say that some Shi’ites seem to believe their writings have alluded to Barack Hussein Obama in prophecy…

Apparently in March 2011, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad approved a video that quotes someone as saying this Imam Mahdi leader arrives after a time of great earthquakes and sedition.  It says that, according to the Hadith, Iran is to be among the “preparers” for the arrival of the Imam.  It blames the U.S.A. and its allies for causing Islamic fear-mongering since 9/11/2001.  The video indicates that Islamic writings have warned that westerners would invade the Middle East first; it suggests that Iraq and other western military interventions are proof that the Imam Mahdi is about to appear.  It tells that a time of Arab/Islamic cooperation is prophesied, while also claiming that annihilation of the “Zionist regime” needs to happen prior to the arrival of the Mahdi…

It also essentially tries to explain who is Seyed Khorasani (the current top leader of Iran).  It also says that 72 months prior to the arrival of the Imam Mahdi that Seyed Khorasani will appoint Shoeib to assist.  It then asks if “Doctor” Ahmadinejad could be the Shoeib.  It shows Ahmadinejad making various speeches and discusses him taking over Jerusalem in the future–and prior to the arrival of the Imam Mahdi.  It basically ends with stating that the Imam Mahdi will rise up soon and that all should praise God with Jihad.

In earlier speeches, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has suggested that the Imam Mahdi would rise up prior to him leaving his office, as preparing the way for him is supposedly his mission.  (Thiel, B,  Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States. The Shi’ite understanding of the Imam Mahdi is that he will support Iran and help Iran defeat the USA and takeover the world.

Yet, since the “Imam Mahdi” has not made his public appearance (Iran has claimed he exists now in the background and orchestrated items like the ‘Arab Spring’), Iran’s President would probably prefer that Barack Obama be in office longer to give Iran more time to support its domineering objectives.

Despite what some may say or hope, while Barack Obama is a political, lower-case, lord, he is not the USA’s nor Iran’s savior.

The Russian publication Pravda has ran a scorching piece against the re-election of US President Barack Obama (http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/19-11-2012/122849-obama_soviet_mistake-0/) that included the following:

Putin in 2009 outlined his strategy for economic success. Alas, poor Obama did the opposite but nevertheless was re-elected. Bye, bye Miss American Pie. The Communists have won in America with Obama but failed miserably in Russia with Zyuganov who only received 17% of the vote. Vladimir Putin was re-elected as President keeping the NWO order out of Russia while America continues to repeat the Soviet mistake…

Recently, Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them. He gives speeches of peace and love in the world while he promotes wars as he did in Egypt, Libya and Syria. He plans his next war is with Iran as he fires or demotes his generals who get in the way…

He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so.  How shrewd he is in America.  His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. They will continue to follow him like those fools who still praise Lenin and Stalin in Russia. Obama’s fools and Stalin’s fools share the same drink of illusion…

So, the question remains:

How long will America suffer and to what depths?

How long will be not too many years, probably within a decade.  The answer to the depths of its suffering is that the USA will, despite its military strength, get to the point where an opportunistic power will take it over and have its lands divided (Daniel 11:39) and the surviving people scattered (Joel 3:2-3), etc.   A power that does not think that way about itself, but will anyway (Isaiah 10:5-11).

Although Russia’s Vladimir Putin made positive comments about Barack Obama and encouraged his re-election (see Putin Says Obama Will Visit Russia: What May this Lead to?), since Russia has historically not been an ally of the USA, one may wonder why.

As far as Pravda goes, several years ago it decried the fact that the USA was ceasing to be a capitalist nation, but instead claimed that “the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed” (for more details, see Election Demonstrating Socialist Shift in USA? or ICG, Russia, and the Whimper of American Capitalism).

As far Barack Obama and Marxism goes, notice something I have in my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States:

In the 2007 edition of his book, originally published in 1995, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, Barack Obama makes what seems to be anti-colonial statements and even claims that he sought out “Marxist professors” in college. (Thiel B. Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States. Nazarene Books, edition 1.1, 2012, p. 13)

The fact that in one of his books, Barack Obama wrote he sought out “Marxist professors” and he not only got elected, but got re-elected shows that a shift has happened in the USA.

Some consider this shift to be a major triumph. The fact that more and more money has to be borrowed to pay for this socialist/marxist/communist shift does not worry everyone.  But the Bible has warnings:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. (Ezekiel 22:13-15)

Borrowing money that will not be paid back is a “dishonest profit” which the American peoples have been living on for the past several decades.  They will be scattered for this and their filthiness (cf. Romans 1:18-32; see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?).

It is interesting how some in Russia have viewed what is happening in the USA.  Many Americans have not realized what is happening, and even less understand where all of this will lead.  Bible prophecy is in the process of being fulfilled.

Christmas trees arrived in England and America only in the mid-19th century…

The Tannenbaum (which simply means “fir tree”) came to be associated, apocryphally or not, with Martin Luther. Because of that, many Catholics in Germany once disdained it. The “aversion of many Catholics went so far,” Mr. Brunner writes, “that at the end of the nineteenth century many simply called Protestantism the ‘Tannenbaum religion.’ ” As late as the 1930s, the Vatican was recommending manger scenes instead of Christmas trees as a more theologically sound sort of decoration. But the church today no longer sees a conflict—Christmas Eve at the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square now features both a life-size Nativity and a towering Christmas tree.

It wasn’t until the middle of the 19th century that the tradition began to spread outside Germany. Christmas trees were a novelty in England by 1850, thanks to a royal example set by the German-born Prince Albert…In the mid-19th century, the Christmas tree made inroads in America, too…

There are a lot of non-Christian symbols associated with the celebration of what is now called Christmas.  Tannenbaum literally means “fir tree” and is the German term for Christmas tree.

Most who have looked into the subject of Christmas trees are familiar with the passages in Jeremiah 10 that clearly seem to condemn pagan tree practices:

2″Do not learn the ways of the nations
or be terrified by signs in the sky,
though the nations are terrified by them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.
5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch,
their idols cannot speak;
they must be carried
because they cannot walk.
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm
nor can they do any good.” (Jeremiah 10:2-5, NIV).

While the trees themselves cannot harm us, God says that they cannot do any good.

Even though there is nothing in the Bible to encourage putting a tree in one’s house to honor the Jesus or the Father, both Catholics and Protestants believe that they have a legitimate reason.

Even though they condemned the fir trees when once calling Protestantism the “Tannebaum religion,” Catholics claim a prior use.  In the 7-8th century, their St. Boniface chopped down an oak dedicated to Thor and a fir tree grew at the same place.  After that happened Boniface was said to have stated, “Its leaves remain evergreen in the darkest days: let Christ be your constant light” (Christmas Tree. Wikipedia, 12/22/07).  But the truth is that the evergreen tree had long been a pagan religious symbol in northern Europe.

According to the Historic Trinity Lutheran Church of Detroit:

Dr. Martin Luther is credited with originating the use of lighted pine trees in the home for Christmas (http://www.historictrinity.org/advent.html).

Here is one account of the of how Catholics and Protestants got the tree:

hy do we have a decorated Christmas Tree? In the 7th century a monk from Crediton, Devonshire, went to Germany to teach the Word of God. He did many good works there, and spent much time in Thuringia, an area which was to become the cradle of the Christmas Decoration Industry.

Legend has it that he used the triangular shape of the Fir Tree to describe the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The converted people began to revere the Fir tree as God’s Tree, as they had previously revered the Oak. By the 12th century it was being hung, upside-down, from ceilings at Christmastime in Central Europe, as a symbol of Christianity.

The first decorated tree was at Riga in Latvia, in 1510. In the early 16th century, Martin Luther is said to have decorated a small Christmas Tree with candles, to show his children how the stars twinkled through the dark night (The Chronological History of the Christmas Tree Copyright © 1998-2007 Maria Hubert von Staufer. http://www.christmasarchives.com/trees.html viewed 12/22/07).

Of course, that once again is one of the problems of Christmas, it substitutes pagan symbols for that of the true God.

And if you are asking yourself, doesn’t the trinity represent God, you may wish to study more into the Bible and the History of Christianity and also read the article Did the True Church Ever Teach a Trinity?  Another aspect of history is that the early Church condemned winter celebrations like modern Christmas–Christmas was not observed by the early true church. Now, getting back to the accusation of Catholics about Protestants being the “Tannenbaum religion,”  basically the Protestants condemned the Church of Rome for many practices, including idolatry. The Catholics considered that having a decorated fir tree in one’s house, which of course is not a symbol associated with the birth of Jesus in the Bible, during the Christmas season was a form of idolatry.

However, over time, as the use of trees gained more universal acceptance, those of the Catholic faith decided to no longer decry their use, but instead found a legend in their own history to suggest that they had the idea originally.

All of this may seem to be bizarre, but a lot of the doctrinal history of the Catholics and Protestants is.

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (World Economic Forum)

Probably the most common reason that Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has been mentioned in the news in the past year or so is his connection with plagiarism (another frequent reason is a television program that has been made about him in Germany).  Notice, for example, the following that was in the news yesterday:

More than half a dozen politicians in Germany are caught up in an embarrassing cheating scandal that last year cost the German defense minister his job.

The country’s education minister is also implicated. She, like the other politicians, is accused of plagiarizing other people’s work while earning a doctorate degree…

Some Germans created collaborative websites, or wikis, where they posted plagiarized passages they uncovered.

One such wiki posted a bombshell in February 2011, accusing then Defense Minister Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg of lifting most of his doctoral dissertation from other works.

Now, the above is interesting to me because if many politicians in Germany are getting accused of plagiarism, whether they are guilty or not, it will make Baron Guttenberg seem less offensive to Germans (and probably others) if he does re-emerge in a major way in European politics.

He is of prophetic interest to me because he seems to fit both biblical prophecies about the Beast/King of the North and non-biblical prophecies about the so-called Great Monarch of Roman and Orthodox Catholic prophecies.  I have been reporting on him since late 2009, and thus far, he seems to have at least partially fulfilled seven speculative predictions I posted about him (see Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?).

Since I last posted about him, I added the following to my main article about him, starting with a prophecy from an Eastern Orthodox source:

Leo VI (surnamed the Wise or the Philosopher; Greek: Λέων ΣΤ΄ ό Σοφός, Leōn VI ho Sophos, 19 September 866 – 11 May 912)…was the Byzantine Emperor from 886 to 912 (notice also the interpretations from Dr. Tzima Otto that follow each, all bolding in text):

Emperor Leo the Philosopher (died 912): You the foreigner (or stanger) who is living in the stone, come, get out of it. Abandon the shedding of tears and the wailing and the agricultural lifestyle [or, the living in the countryside, as opposed to the city-living] and resume your life, you who were dead and filled with sorrows; having recollected once again the best of everything and having dispersed for ever the trophy of injustice and lawlessness. (Oraculum XII/Icone 12 as translated in Tzima Otto, p. 68)

Suggested Interpretation:
There are many prophecies of the Great Monarch representing a man who was kind of dead and comes alive again, or an emperor who was sleeping and is awakened…Therefore many previous commentators when they read the text ‘you are living in stone’ consider this metaophorical meaning only…It is quite possible that this ‘foreigner’ stanger, obviously not a Greek, has been living in a place surrounded by stones…along the…coastline. (Tzima Otto, pp. 68-69)

Emperor Leo the Philosopher (died 912): The one who is considered dead (already) and escaping notice [or detection by human vision], many know him, although nobody sees him; He will rise up, all of a sudden, as if from a wine-revelry and will certainly hold the scepters of the kingdom. For a column having been seen in the vault of heaven as if twisted as if by spinning, an invisible herald will shout thunderously thrice:
Make haste and go to the western parts of the Seven-Hilled city and there you will find a servant of Mine, a man dear to Me; Bring him to the royal palace, he wears a helmet, he is soft-spoken, calm, noble-minded, he has very sharp knowledge of the future [or he can see well the future with the mind’s eyes]. Thus, Oh Seven-Hilled city, you will acheive sovereignty once again. (Oraculum XIII/Icone 13 as translated by Tzima Otto, pp. 69-70)

Suggested Interpretation:
This Oracle is most interesting in the sense that it lets us know that this man is not emerging suddenly out of nowhere. Many people know him already. But, He will be miraculously identified…He will where a helmet (It suggests a time of war). (Tzima Otto, p. 70)

Although the Baron is not an emperor yet, he certainly is a stranger/foreigner as he is living in the USA and not his native land of Germany.  And though he is not literally dead, he was likely filled with sorrows related to his plagiarism scandal and the related fallout. It is possible that the Baron may be hurt physically and considered dead. Yet, that is not a requirement as Emperor Leo’s use of the expression ‘considered dead’ can have a variety of interpretations including, in this case, that his political future has been considered dead by many (though not all, including me). Being a Baron, it can easily be concluded that he is “noble-minded.”

The idea that the final King of the North will rise up unexpectedly is consistent with scripture (cf. Daniel 11:21-24). The idea that he will be a smooth talker (Daniel 11:23-24) and will be confirmed by signs and wonders is also consistent with scripture (2 Thessalonians 2:8-10). The idea that he will be a warrior is consistent with scriptures (Daniel 11:39-43; Revelation 13:4).  The idea that he has futuristic knowledge/schemes is consistent with scripture (Daniel 8:23).

I would also add that the Bible warns that a seven-hilled city that reigns and it does not speak well of it (Revelation 17:9,18). The predictions of Leo VI will likely get people to accept that the King of the North is instead the “Great Monarch” who will help Europe, no matter who that leader will be.

Now just because he may be in the process of fulfilling some of those does not prove that he must be the final King of the North. But they certainly give me reason, combined with biblical and other prophetic sources to consider that he could fulfill that role or at least aid the one who will have it.

So, he remains one to watch.  The fact that other leaders in Germany are being accused of plagiarism will certainly show that he was not the only one to copy parts of his doctoral dissertation.  Herr Guttenberg will simply look more like a normal politician.

And of course, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg could simply be a somewhat normal politician with many ups and downs. And all his intentions could be fine. We will see.

Received an email some hours ago from The Fatima Center that contained the following:

Laughing Off the Election
Timothy Cardinal Dolan, with what can charitably be described as cheerful non-chalance, weighed in on the disaster of the 2012 elections in Catholic New York, the official publication of the Archdiocese of New York, of which he is the Ordinary.

He says he is writing about it because people ask him about it, after they inquire about the effects of Hurricane Sandy. The clear implication is that he is commenting, not on his own initiative, but in response to those worry-warts who nag him about it. His overall assessment of the election is, in His Eminence’s expression: “You win some, you lose some.”…

Unfortunately, this is the kind of superficial banality that we are now used to hearing from this media-anointed leader of the Catholic Church in the U.S. He reminds us — almost chides us — to remember that Our Lord said His kingdom is not of this world. So, it would seem, those of us upset about the re-election of the anti-Catholic, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage Barack Obama are getting too invested in this world. If only we had Cardinal Dolan’s superior detachment, we could put things in their proper perspective and imitate his perpetual smile and ever-ready belly laugh…

I suppose the Cardinal and Obama may have gotten rather chummy rubbing elbows and breaking bread at the Al Smith Dinner (see: “His Eminence Laughs It Up”), but if he doesn’t see the re-election of Obama as a “setback for people of faith,” what does he see?

The Cardinal’s appraisal of the election is as sad, if not more so, than the election itself. If Cardinal Dolan represents Catholic leadership in the United States, as Barack Obama represents the anti-Catholic power of government and media, then the faithful will be pretty much on their own as far as help from the institutional Church is concerned…

Our only help at this time is symbolized by that statue that withstood the flames and floods and fierce winds at Breezy Point. Our Lady of the Storm, Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

The above was most likely written by Catholic Priest Nicolas Gruner.  He runs the Fatima Center and, despite writings that suggest otherwise, he is a priest in good standing with the Church of Rome.

As far as writings that seem contrary to Rome goes, for one example, just over a month ago, the Fatima Center took shots at the pope (see Fatimists Take Shots Against Their Pontiff).  And that writing also said to look to the ‘Lady of Fatima,’ who they claim was Mary.

But the ‘Lady of Fatima’ was not possibly Mary, the mother of Jesus (the dress and statements from the apparition in 1917 clearly prove it could not be Mary).  And also, the BIBLE makes it clear that the hope and help from Christians is from Jesus–the ONE MEDIATOR between God and man per 1 Timothy 2:5.  No statue can possibly be “Our only help” like the Fatimist writing claimed, nor could the only help be Mary herself.  Fatimists, and many others, apparently do not know What the Early Church Teach About Idols and Icons.

As far as the USA presidential election goes, the American electorate spoke, and destruction is coming to the Anglo-lands.  Now, I am NOT claiming that voting for a Mormon was the answer to the USA’s problems, but the electorate did prefer someone who appeared to be more in favor of abortion, more supportive of homosexual marriage, and more interfering with religious freedoms than Mitt Romney.

The reality, however, is that neither major USA candidate advocated national repentance, and that, and not the Lady of Fatima, is what the USA needs.

Lying is hazardous to your health:

When we lie, blood pressure in the heart rises — and polygraphs pick up the change. Lying often enough, long enough can damage the heart and arteries.

Researchers at the University of Notre Dame carried out a 10-week honesty experiment with 110 people, half of whom were instructed to stop telling major and minor lies during the test. The rest got no special instructions about lying.

Both groups went to a lab each week to complete health and relationship surveys and to take a polygraph test assessing the number of major and “white” lies they had told that week.

Lying causes lots of problems. Often for those lied to and always for those doing the lying. T he Bible teaches “love truth” (Zechariah 8:19) and that those who do not have the “love of the truth” will perish (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Those of us who believe the Bible, have read the Bible, and believe in keeping the Ten Commandments have long realized that telling the truth contributes to happiness. Notice the following:

18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law. (Proverbs 29:18)

14 Happy is the man who is always reverent (Proverbs 28:14).

And since lying is a violation of the law, logic dictates that those who lie are less happy than those who do not.

Iran’s current president has his own ambitions for Israel.  Israel, of course, has other plans and some believe that one of the reasons that it did what it did in Gaza was to test its missile defense systems in preparation for a later battle with Iran (many of the rockets launched against Israel from Gaza came from Iran, at least parts of many of them did according to new reports).

There was a video that Iran released back in 2011, featuring its President Ahmadinejad, which shows that it plans to take over Jerusalem MILITARILY and then give it to the Imam Mahdi (see Iran’s Ahmadinejad to Conquer Jerusalem?)–the Imam Mahdi is a type of Islamic leader (the one Iran’s wants supposedly was in suspended animation or something like that for about a thousand years–the one that the Sunni Muslims will end up with will almost certainly have been born in the 20th century).  While Iran’s President Ahmadinejad likely believes that the destruction associated with the Imam Mahdi will be a blessing to all (as he stated in the UN in September 2012), part of the reason for that is that he also seems to believe that it is a blessing to be Muslim. Most in the West would not agree with his conclusion, and hence need to be careful about the real intent of his speech. In the past, Iran’s President Ahmadinejad has indicated that the Imam Mahdi would rise up before he leaves office (which may be as late as November 2013; though it could be five months or so earlier).

Although President Ahmadinejad, will not succeed in all of his political aspirations, for various reasons,certain aspects of the Imam Mahdi sound a lot like the final King of the South that the Bible foretells (Daniel 11:40-43). And he may be part of a deal intended to destroy Israel, the USA, and its Anglo-allies (Psalm 83:4-8). And this will not be good.

Yet, the final King of the South will not be Iran (Iran is basically east of Jerusalem), but apparently Arabic (which includes those of Egypt, Libya, etc.). Iran’s actions and rhetoric continue to stir up the situation in the Middle East. So much so, that it is likely to get it power reduced (or somehow neutralized) before the King of the South fulfills certain biblical prophecies (though Iran may provide some support to it per Ezekiel 30:5).

But many in the West do not understand that. They seem to think that the Iranians, being Shi’ites, are on the fringe of Islam and that the majority of Muslims, who are Sunni, do not really have quite the same goals (Iran wants the Sunnis to support it and its version of Islam, while the Sunnis basically want the reconstitution of an Islamic empire).

Many of the Sunni Muslims really want an Islamic confederation called a Caliphate–and this is the stated goal of such Sunni-oriented groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood. Many in the West seem to wish to overlook the real goals of Islam. And according to the Bible, there will be a confederation that consists of the lands of the Islamic nations essentially of North Africa, the Middle East, and the Arab peninsula; plus it will likely, at least temporarily have Turkey (who will likely ultimately betray it) and other lands.
