Today, Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood – a party formerly headed by current President Mohammed Morsi – announced that Egypt would get involved if Israel continued to kill terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Such Israeli action, said the party, would prompt “swift Arab and international action to stop the massacres.” The party also warned that Israel “must take into account the changes in the Arab region and especially Egypt … [Egypt] will not allow the Palestinians to be subjected to Israeli aggression, as in the past.”

Hamas in Gaza is a Muslim Brotherhood offshoot, so this is not a surprise.  Although “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the country’s military is prepared to extend its operation against Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20334575), Israel, while trying to look out for its own interests, will, at least to a degree, consider taking some steps related to the complaints of the Muslim Brotherhood.

But Gaza is not Israel’s only concern: Iran and Syria are as well.

However, I would like to make explicitly clear at this time that although the Muslim Brotherhood wants its offshoot in Syria to gain power there (and Israel made a launch against Syria also earlier this week Israel Launching Attacks Against Syria), that if Israel hits Syria too hard, this will likely upset the Muslim Brotherhood.

I have believed for some time that if Israel hits Syria hard enough to fulfill the prophesied destruction of its capital Damascus (Isaiah 17:1) that this may be a trigger for many of the nations in the Middle East and North Africa to agree to a confederation similar to what the Muslim Brotherhood wants.

The type of Islamic confederation that the Muslim Brotherhood wants is consistent with one prophesied in the Bible (Ezekiel 30:1-8) that is to be led by one it calls the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).

Many events aligning with Bible prophecy are happening around the world and particularly in the Middle East.

Mike at his False Prophet Ronald Weinland website posted the following:

District Judge Danny Reeves pronounced sentence on False Prophet Ronald Weinland this morning:

• A sentence of 42 months
• Followed by 3 years of supervised release
• A fine of $7,500
• Restitution in the amount of the criminal tax loss, approximately $245,000

…

The judge ordered Ron to self-report to prison on January 2 and recommends to the Bureau of Prisons that he be incarcerated nearby.

Ronald Weinland had certain false public prophetic teachings about a 3 1/2 year period, but his own jail sentence was not one of them.  At least not one he made public.  And hopefully Ron Weinland will not now claim that the forty-two months of Revelation 11:2 or 13:5 apply to this or that the three and one-half year shattering of the power of the holy people in Daniel 12:7 somehow now applies to him.

For those unfamiliar with him, Ronald Weinland was a former WCG then UCG minister who falsely claimed to be one of the two witnesses, Elijah, etc. He was again proven wrong last May when Jesus did not return as he has claimed He would. And he will be proven wrong again when Jesus does not return on Pentecost in 2013. He was convicted of multiple counts of income tax fraud in June 2012 (see CGPFKG’s Ron Weinland Found Guilty of Income Tax Evasion) and today’s sentencing is related to that.

I have long written that I believed that the following was applicable to Ronald Weinland:

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. (2 Peter 2:1-3).

The main point of COGwriter posts about him is to warn all not to let false prophets and false apostles like Ron Weinland turn people away from the God of the Bible.

In the past, when his predictions have not come to pass, Ron Weinland basically has tried to spiritualize his failures away and say something to the effect that God has been merciful (hence no massive destruction during the Great Tribulation to the scale that Jesus taught yet) and that God keeps granting more time for spiritual growth. In addition to being a convicted felon, he is a false prophet and a proven liar (for some of the details leading to that conclusion please see the article Concerns About Ronald Weinland’s Church of God-Preparing for the Kingdom of God).

Perhaps time in jail will get him to further reconsider what he has done.

Here are two opposing news items about the re-election of Barack Obama (the first seemingly favors his re-election, the second does not seem to):

With a solid reelection win and expanded Democratic majorities in the Senate, he has real leverage. And as such, he’s offering a deal that’s much better for liberals, and much less favorable to Republicans. Instead of $800 billion in revenue, he’s calling for $1.6 trillion, drawn in large part from increased taxes…To set the fiscal cliff aside for a moment, it should be said that, in the medium-term, it’s not enough to raise taxes on the wealthy. For the kind of government liberals want, a middle-class tax hike is inevitable. At the moment, the fragile recovery makes that a bad idea. The above is consistent with what I have both told people orally since last week’s vote as well as posted here at COGwriter.  The willingness to suggest going over the so-called ‘fiscal cliff’ is something that I specifically also expected as well as the President trying to hang tough on his taxing plans.  People who believe that they will indefinitely be able to receive something for nothing will be severely disappointed with what will happen to the USA economy (as will others).

Time reported the following:

If re-elected President Barack Obama can’t reach a new deal with Republican Party Congressmen in the House of Representatives on closing the country’s trillion-dollar budget deficit, a slate of deep spending cuts and tax hikes will automatically come into effect next year that will in all likelihood derail the slow-moving U.S. recovery from the 2008 financial crisis. That would without doubt do some serious damage to growth globally. Rating agency Fitch proclaimedthat “the U.S. fiscal cliff represents the single biggest near-term threat to a global economic recovery.”

A U.S. plunge off the fiscal cliff would hit the global economy at an especially fragile moment…

If the economy takes a full-on dive off the fiscal cliff, it would probably land in another recession. The Congressional Budget Office figuresthat such a sharp fiscal shock “will lead to economic conditions in 2013 that will probably be considered a recession, with real GDP declining by 0.5 percent between the fourth quarter of 2012 and the fourth quarter of 2013 and the unemployment rate rising to about 9 percent in the second half of calendar year 2013.” Simply put, it would be ugly.And not just for Americans. A U.S. leap off the fiscal cliff “would push the country into a recession with large international spillovers,” the IMF warned the G-20 recently.http://business.time.com/2012/11/13/will-the-global-economy-tumble-off-americas-fiscal-cliff/#ixzz2CDBTCT7u

So, more than just the USA is expected to be affected by all of this.  But its overall effects will probably hurt the USA more than anyone else in the long run.  However, by risking hurting the world economy, this also will reduce the amount of “friends” that the USA has or at the very least contribute to increased resentment against the USA–a resentment that foreigners ultimately will rise up because of (cf. Habakkuk 2:6-8; Daniel 11:39).

As far as Barack Obama and his impact goes, allow me to repeat some quotes from my September 2012 book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States (edition 1.1):

Catholic Cardinal Stafford (while head of the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See [i]) claimed that Barack Obama was “aggressive, disruptive, and apocalyptic.“ Notice what he reported in November 2008:

Barack Obama… asserted, “We are not only going to win this election but also we are going to transform this nation………The first thing I will do as President is to sign The Freedom of Choice Act……..I put Roe at the center of my lesson plan on reproductive freedom when I taught Constitutional Law………..On this issue I will not yield..”… The content and rhetoric of Obama and Biden have elements similar to those described earlier: aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic…My use of the word “apocalyptic” would be emphatically biblical, rooted in the understanding of the Book of the Apocalypse.[ii]

Here are seventeen specific reasons indicating that President Barack Obama is “apocalyptic”:

1. The timing of his election. It may be that only two or so presidential terms are left before the start of the Great Tribulation and the fulfillment of related prophecies in the Book of Revelation (called the Apocalypse by some Catholics). Barack Obama’s very presence (as well as his planned and unplanned actions) should be enough to enable the fulfillment of various end-time prophecies.
2. As one with a Luo Kenyan father, Barack Obama may be part of the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 28:43.
3. Since the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, the U.S.A. switched from being a creditor nation and instead has become the greatest debtor nation in the history of humankind—perhaps this is resulting in a biblical curse? Because the U.S.A. owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening now. President Barack Obama has put forth economic policies that will (for at least several years) greatly increase that debt. Yet, increasing national debt like he had will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end (Habakkuk 2:3–8). Others will not be able to reverse enough of the debt to stop Habakkuk 2:3-8 from being fulfilled.
4. Barack Obama has often pledged increased cooperation with the Europeans. And while cooperation is normally a good thing, this particular cooperation is leading to the rise of the prophesied King of the North, who is to be the final leader of the Beast of Revelation (Revelation 13:1). Unlike previous U.S. administrations, President Obama’s administration has declared that it will encourage and support increases in Europe’s own military, far beyond what Presidents Bush or Clinton were willing to consider.[iii] These policies are helping enable the rise of the King of the North/Beast power who will be in league with the final Antichrist.
5. Barack Obama has called for increased dialogue with those considered enemies of the U.S.A. As mentioned earlier, even some Shi’ite Muslims believe that his presidency may lead to the rise of their Mahdi who seems to be the same person that the Bible calls the King of the South. His political support of groups associated with the mainly Sunni Muslim Brotherhood will help lead to the formation of the final King of the South of Bible prophecy, even if he takes steps that many in the Islamic world disagree with.
6. Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is shifting priorities away from defense spending,[iv] while encouraging the Europeans to increase their military might.[v] This trend is expected to continue, and will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the U.S.A. is not (more on the reduction in relative U.S. nuclear power under Barack Obama is shown in Appendix A).
7. Instead of completely strengthening the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS), Barack Obama’s Administration instead decided to rely on Europe’s upcoming Galileo “GPS” for part of the U.S.A.’s military defense.[vi] This would appear to give the rising European power a unique offensive and defensive capability against the U.S.A. (cf. Daniel 11:39; Revelation 13:3-4). It is dangerous to have a potential enemy control portions of one’s military communications systems.
8. Instead of increasing the U.S.A.’s role in particle collider technology, similar to some previous administrations, Barack Obama’s Administration has greatly weakened that. So much so, there is only one remaining U.S. particle accelerator and it is at risk of being gutted or shut down.[vii] This is an area where Europe has clearly gained the lead over the U.S.A. since Barack Obama became president.
9. Barack Obama’s debt and other economic policies are setting the United States up for food inflation and eventual food shortages. Food inflation is prophesied to occur in the Bible in Revelation 6:5-6.
10. Barack Obama broke a campaign pledge about requiring that genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in foods be labeled.[viii] And while he at some point in time may change on this, the fact is that he has taken steps to encourage the production and use of GMO “foods” (cf. Isaiah 55:2).[ix] Increased reliance on GMOs by the United States puts the nation at major risk for nearly complete crop failures. The Bible warns that famines (Matthew 24:7) and food shortages (Revelation 6:5-6) are coming and Barack Obama has further helped set the stage for this.
11. Barack Obama has made a variety of “class warfare” comments.[x] Increased civil unrest is coming to the U.S.A. and Barack Obama has helped fan the flames for this—even if he is not re-elected. And although his Administration has sometimes encouraged and/or accommodated the Occupy movement,[xi] it and/or groups like it have and likely will turn against him and future administrations.
12. President Obama actually claimed, “the only measure of my success as president when people look back five years from now or nine years from now is going to be, did I get this economy fixed?…I’m going to be judged on, have we pulled ourselves out of recession?”[xii] The God of the Bible expects leaders to encourage repentance and moral behaviors when they are subject to destructive punishment (cf. Jonah 3:6-9). Barack Obama, like many other U.S. presidents before him, does not seem to believe that the U.S.A. needs to repent for its sins against God, his policies seem to be focused on not relying on God. Yet, without national repentance, the U.S.A. is doomed for destruction (Isaiah 30:12-13; Daniel 11:39). Of course, people are supposed to pray for political leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-3), and that should be done irrespective if one agrees with the leader. Sometimes, leaders and/or their policies change.
13. The Bible tells of having the gates of enemies as a blessing (Genesis 24:60). Losing sea gates would be consistent with being an end time curse. Barack Obama seems to be the first president in U.S. history to significantly back giving the “sea gate” of the Falkland Islands to Argentina, which is a position in dramatic opposition to the residents of the Falklands.[xiii]
14. By focusing too much on threats from China and almost always considering the Europeans as allies, Barack Obama has helped put Australia at risk from China[xiv] and the U.S.A. from Europe.
15. Various regulations from the Obama Administration are contributing to an environment of self-censorship and government censorship. A “famine” of the word is prophesied (Amos 8:11) and the Obama Administration may impose broadcast, print, Internet, and/or restrictions.
16. By encouraging and not discouraging aspects of immorality (such as abortion and homosexual unions), Barack Obama is setting the U.S.A. up for punishment (Isaiah 30:12-13; Romans 1:18-32) that has and will include troubles, violence, weather problems, earthquakes, food shortages, and pestilences (Mark 13:7-8; Luke 21:10-11). These problems will worsen.
17. On May 23 2012, Barack Obama claimed to see an end to the wars of the past decade and then said ”Now, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon.”[xv] This sounds a lot like New-Age double-speak for declaring being at the dawn of an age of peace. The Bible warns repeatedly that false declarations of peace will lead to end time destruction (1 Thessalonians 5:3; Jeremiah 6:14-15).

Habakkuk 2 makes clear that at the appointed time of the end, a great borrowing people will be destroyed (Habakkuk 2:3-8). Something similar is in Deuteronomy 28:42-51. No nation in the history of humankind has ever accumulated as much debt as the United States of America (because the U.K. may have close to the highest amount of per capita debt,[xvi] its fate would seem to be similar). Yet, the relationship between debt accumulation and prophesied destruction remains unapparent to many.

And although President Obama inherited a debt-laden nation, his policies, according to his own public pronouncements, have lead and will continue to lead to greatly increased U.S.A. debt. These increases of debt are likely to continue past the point of no return and become one of the final factors that will cause creditors to rise up and destroy the U.S.A.

It seems clear that during his presidency, Barack Obama has been an apocalyptic enabler in the sense that his policies are helping lead to the rise of the prophesied final Kings of the North and South that Daniel 11 discusses, while weakening the U.S.A. militarily, morally, economically, and agriculturally. Nothing from his administration thus far suggests that he will call for meaningful massive repentance and turning back to God.

Therefore, President Obama (who is now U.S.A. President and perhaps will be until 2017) is apocalyptic.

Of course, it is not only the United States that needs repentance as God “now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).

The office of Russia’s President Putin made an announcement:

The above is not really a surprise. The meeting will probably allow Barack Obama to keep his word and discuss how flexible he wants to be in cutting the USA nuclear arsenal as well as other defense cuts that Barack Obama’s Administration intends to make.

The current “fiscal cliff” that the USA faces on January 1, 2013 includes massive cuts in US military spending unless resolved by Barack Obama and Congress in the next several weeks.  The USA Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has warned about the dangers of these cuts as  and referred to them as “doomsday” (‘Doomsday’ Defense Cuts) and “unthinkable” (Panetta Weighs Unthinkable Defense Cuts) and yet they may well happen.  And it is likely that Barack Obama agrees that many cuts should happen.

The smaller the USA defense budget, the easier it is for Russia (and others) to be able to have a more comparable military.  And modernization of Russia’s military has long been an objective of Vladimir Putin (Russia’s Military Modernization: Who Will Be Attacked?).

It was reported back in September 2012 that Vladimir Putin wanted Barack Obama to be re-elected (see Russian Press Reports Why Putin Likes Obama Over Romney), and he got his way.

Russia plays a prominent role in certain end time prophecies, and Vladimir Putin has made many public statements consistent with what the Bible suggests will happen to Russia (see, for example, Putin Returns to Russia’s Presidency And Has Prophetic Goals).

Those in the USA and Canada should realize that the Bible suggests that Russia plays a role in prophetic events years after the USA is defeated (cf. Daniel 11:39,44-45).

Will the likely meeting between the presidents of Russia and the USA facilitate this?  It would seem so.

The story goes that a couple was sitting at the counter in a diner enjoying a cup of coffee when the husband nudged his wife and said, “Honey, look at that old couple at the end for the bar. Someday, that will be us.” His wife glanced in that direction and said with some amusement, “You realize of course that what you see is a mirror at the end of the bar!” This is a humorous reminder that we seldom see ourselves as others see us. It is also true that our mental image of ourselves can be far from the reality of our situation. This mental image is important in determining one’s progress or growth in life.

We often tend to evaluate people because of their outward appearance. For example, someone who is well groomed, well dressed and well-spoken is usually afforded more respect and attention than someone who lacks those attributes. While this in itself is not an evil practice, it may result in our being misled by some smooth-talking fraud, or overlooking real character and sound values in a person who is not sophisticated or cosmopolitan in appearance.

Certainly, we should always put our best foot forward, and first impressions do last. Yet we must not let this overshadow our appreciation of the vital attributes of good character, kindness and honesty. Taking the time to get to really know a person is worthwhile in determining who he or she really is.

The Bible contains some pointed instruction on this subject, from which we can learn valuable lessons. For example, when the prophet and judge, Samuel, was instructed to select a king in Israel to replace Saul, whom God had rejected because of his stubborn attitude and his failure to obey, God led him to select a young man whom no one had even considered. Samuel first observed one of the sons of Jesse who appeared to be a good choice, “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’” (1 Samuel 16:7).

After examining Jesse’s other sons, none of whom God found acceptable, young David was summoned from the field where he had been caring for his father’s sheep. No one had thought of David, yet God saw something in him that others had overlooked. Indeed, David overcame many obstacles over a period of years to become the greatest king of Israel.

James, the half-brother of Jesus Christ, wrote on this subject in the New Testament. “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?” And then, in verses 8-9 he continues, “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin…” (James 2:1-4, 8-9).

What is my point? Just that we should have a healthy, but realistic, self-image if we are to be well rounded as a person. And, very importantly, we should follow the admonition of the Apostle James to avoid showing partiality and judging in our dealing with others, especially based on appearances.

Many have been falsely judged by appearances, and many others have tried to slander/libel others to try to change the perception of their appearance.  But God sees all and God will judge.

On a national level, some do not believe that voting to approve such items as “same-sex marriage” is harmful, the Bible says that it is (Romans 1:18-32; Jude 7).  People often pay attention to the wrong aspect of appearance.

As another example, while aspects of the US economy appear to be fine, the fact that it has been propped up by massive deficit spending and borrowing from foreigners is something that most people do not know, yet the Bible warns about (Habakkuk 2:6-8).  And disaster will come.

Do not judge simply by surface appearance.

As long as the government continues to run deficits higher than the rate of economic growth and promulgate regulations that don’t meet cost-benefit tests, the United States will continue to stagnateor worse. To date, there appears to be nothing in “fiscal cliff” negotiations that will reverse this course. Of course, we have had a lot of economic stagnation, but in many ways it will get worse.

Interestingly, just got an email newsletter that has the following in an article by Joel Bowman titled The game behind the game of “fiscal chicken,” :

Here’s Bloomberg News, describing “how a game of fiscal chicken could turn into a cliff dive.”

“The subtext of the fiscal cliff battle between Democrats and Republicans is a dispute between going fast and going slow. “Democrats want to capitalize on the political momentum from President Barack Obama’s Nov. 6 re-election and reach an agreement that moves policy in their direction with higher taxes on top earners. Republicans want to avert the $607 billion cliff while extending the current lower tax rates, yet they have a good reason for waiting to endorse a deal. Every day puts the 2012 election farther away and brings the country closer to reaching the $16.4 trillion debt limit, an action-forcing event that can give Republicans a political edge.”

We’re all seeing and hearing a lot about the impending “fiscal cliff moment,” when a combination of tax break expirations and government spending cuts will combine to knock the US economy back into recession…or worse. Where will the cuts come from? Social programs and…gulp!…the nation’s euphemistically named “defence” budget.

It is unfortunate that politicians tend to “play politics” on serious economic and other issues.

Though some in the world are starting to notice this, the time will come when the creditors of the USA will finally decide to rise up quickly and the USA will be taken over (Habakkuk 2:6-8).

The fiscal cliff, the debt, and the increased acceptance of sexual immorality, will lead to destruction (Romans 1:18-32; cf. Daniel 11:39).

Economic stagnation will be a contributing factor to civil unrest that will hit the USA.  The USA debt and other economic problems are serious.  Do you see the handwriting on the wall yet?

This did not take long.  A few days ago, the new head of the Anglican Church, Justin Welby, was publicly announced (see Justin Welby Named New Archbishop of Canterbury).  And yesterday the Vatican’s Cardinal Kurt Koch sent out the following:

Allow me to join with all those who are praying for you and wishing you every joy and happiness in the new ministry you are about to assume as Archbishop of Canterbury and Spiritual Leader of the Anglican Communion. On behalf of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and in the name of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity I offer you congratulations and warmest best wishes.

Relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion are a hugely important part of the ecumenical call for all Christians to seek greater fidelity to the Lord’s will, so clearly expressed in his prayer to the Father at the Last Supper “that all may be one” (Jn 17:21)…

I am certain that under your leadership those excellent relations will continue to bear fruit, and I look forward to meeting you personally, and to future opportunities to share our common commitment to the cause of Christian Unity, “so that the world may believe” (Jn 17:21).   http://www.zenit.org/article-35935?l=english

As President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Koch’s objective is to get Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, and eventually Jews and others to unite behind the Church of Rome.  But I do not believe that he will get all the Anglicans as he would like–and I believe that this will ultimately be held against the UK after the powers in Revelation 13 start to rise up.

What Cardinal Koch wants the world to believe is not truly the original apostolic faith.  And I base that upon not only the Bible, but writings of Catholic leaders and scholars who have looked into related matters (for one example, see What Do Roman Catholic Scholars Actually Teach About Early Church History?).

I have reported about Kurt Koch since he replaced Cardinal Walter Kasper as President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity back in 2010 (e.g. Swiss Bishop Appointed as Ecumenical Head: Antichrist Role?).  He has risen in rank and stature since (see Kurt Koch Made a Cardinal: Might He Become the Antichrist?, Kurt Koch Spoke on Vatican II: More Compromise Coming?, and Pope Sends Unity Message to Eastern Orthodox, and Earlier Called Cardinal Koch Venerable). I believe that if he lives long enough, Cardinal Koch will either become the final Antichrist, support the final Antichrist, or be decide that he will have to oppose him.

To take this a step further, yes, this means that I believe that someone who calls himself “Catholic” and somehow may become pope will be the final Antichrist (Some Doctrines of Antichrist). And I also will add that it is NOT “Catholic bashing” to consider that the final Antichrist will call himself “Catholic” as this is the position of certain Catholic mystics and currently living Catholic priests (quotes from these sources are included in the article Some Doctrines of Antichrist). I also retain my belief that most non-Anglo-nation-based Protestants will support this (as well as a significant number in the Anglo lands, but not the current majorities in them).

Now, as I do not personally know Kurt Koch, I am not saying that he is necessarily anything other than a loyal Catholic bishop and cardinal trying to do his job.  But that job is dangerous.

Of course, Cardinal Koch is not the only one promoting theological unity, a unity that will temporarily unite Europe.  Notice also the following that happened last week:

EU Bishops call for solidarity in Europe

For the first time ever, a meeting of a national Bishops’ Conference took place in Brussels. Under the Chairmanship of Cardinal Schönborn, the Plenary Assembly of the Austrian Bishops gathered together from 5 to 8 November in the COMECE premises to deliver a clear sign of support for Europe. “Europe needs Solidarity from all quarters “ explained Cardinal Schönborn.

“As COMECE President, I am glad that such a meeting is taking place in the EU capital,” said Cardinal Marx. “It shows the Catholic Church is willing to accompany the project of European integration at all levels: the universal one, through representation of the Holy See to the EU; the European one, through activities of the permanent COMECE Secretariat in Brussels; but also at national level, through the participation of Catholic Bishops’ Conferences in the political and ethical debates on the EU. My wish therefore is that this meeting inspires other Bishops from EU Member States to follow a similar initiative.“  http://www.indcatholicnews.com/news.php?viewStory=21406

Hopefully the above helps make it clear that the Church of Rome intends to help build and support a united Europe with its own form of ecumenical unity.

The Bible shows that an ecumenical unity for the world is coming our of Europe (cf. Revelation 13:3-4,8) and it will not be faithful to the early and true apostolic traditions or sacred scripture.

Ecumenical unity will be a disaster for the world (cf. Revelation 13, 17, & 18). American Catholics will find such unity with the Eastern Orthodox especially disturbing if they understood the plan of the Orthodox in this area, or even the Anglicans (who will apparently be less successful with their agenda than the Eastern Orthodox will be).

Many things are happening behind the scenes, but enough are being publicly reported that those who want to know what is going on should be able to see.

Today is the second anniversary of the last post  shown on COGaIC’s David Hulme’s Causes of Conflict: Thoughts on Religion, Identity and the Middle East blog.  There was a one-line sentence posted on November 13, 2010 and the most recent commentary there was June 17, 2010.   Apparently the “Arab Spring,” Middle East protests, Iran, Israel, Syria, and the governmental changes over the past two years have not risen to the level for him to provide his thoughts and comments (I should perhaps add that David Hulme sometimes will tweet via Twitter an article on the Middle East from secular sources).  This lack of detailed coverage, however, is all the more puzzling as David Hulme is still referred to at the Vision website as “Middle East scholar David Hulme.”

The “causes of conflict” in the region are leading to the rising up of a power that appears likely to fulfill the prophesies related to the final King of the South that the Bible tells of (Daniel 11:40-43).  And we may be seeing a regional war there that may help lead to this.

Considering all that has been happening in the Middle East (like in Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, Yemen, Syria, and Libya, and in particular the rising of the Muslim Brotherhood), and the fact that David Hulme holds a doctorate in International Relations with an emphasis on the Middle East, this lack of coverage at the Causes of Conflict blog seems unusual. One might still ask, “Where’s the vision?”

Although they may be the fifth or sixth largest COG, I rarely post much about COGaIC. The reason is that they do not seem to have a whole lot going on worthy of report (and have also restricted certain information that other COGs tend to make public). David Hulme, who leads it, was the first president of UCG before he was voted out in 1998, then went out on his own. Vision.org is COGaIC’s main public website (UCG itself split again in 2010 and a break-away group called COGWA formed).

And while the Vision website once had an Alexa ranking of about 100,000, which is quite good (COGwriter’s Alexa ranking is currently 226,285), Vision’s Alexa ranking dropped a lot and currently is 1,011,030 (the lower the Alexa number the greater the impact–Google and Facebook hold the first and second positions). The ranking drop suggests that Vision is having much less of an impact on the web than it once did and that many times more people visit the COGwriter website than COGaic’s. And the web seems to be the primary media of public proclamation that COGaIC is currently utilizing.   The site has in many ways became vision-less.

All should be “zealous” as Jesus said in Revelation 3:19 and not be satisfied with something less than a Philadelphia type of work and Philadelphia form of church governance (see also Should the Church Still Try to Place its Top Priority on Proclaiming the Gospel?).

I remain convinced that a regional war in the Middle East will happen and could get out of control, especially presuming Iran, as well as Syria, is involved.  Things are not going to go the way that Syria’s President Assad currently thinks they will.

Two Arab organizations offered initial blessings Monday to a newly formed Syrian opposition umbrella group, marking a swift international debut for the group one day after it was founded in Doha, Qatar.

In Cairo, the 22-member Arab League acknowledged the new National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces as the legal representative and main interlocutor for Syria’s opposition. The six-member Gulf Cooperation Council recognized it as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

The Bible suggests that Syria will be involved in a confederation of North African and Middle Eastern nations (Ezekiel 30:1-8; Psalm 83:4-8) who will support a leader that the Bible refers to as the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).  Since the Muslim Brotherhood wants a similar confederation, I have long believed that Syria will align with it or a group like it–and since Syria’s President is opposed to that, he will have to go or change his views. But since he does not wish to do either, Syria’s President Assad may decide to engage in an attack with Israel, which is more likely to result in the destruction of Damascus, as well as a change in the Islamic world to unite closer together behind a group like the Muslim Brotherhood.  And Assad’s resistance to what is going on in his country and with Israel may lead to the destruction of Syria’s capital Damascus as the Bible predicts (Isaiah 17:1).

Of course, according to the Bible, the King of the South (Daniel 11:40) will rise up and we will see if this happens sometime after a conflict with Iran and Syria.   The Bible also seems to tell of a peace deal in the Middle East in Daniel 9:27 which needs to happen–and it may well take a regional war for such a deal to take place.

With the end of 6,000 years of human rule coming closer, and the apparent peace deal in Daniel 9:27 not yet confirmed, it may be that a war involving Israel will be soon. Israel has been planning for the likelihood of an Iranian & Syrian regional war for some time.  We will see.

USA is facing a crisis that some have called a ‘fiscal cliff.’  However, not all politicians in the USA see it as a problem.  Notice a report about US Senator Patty Murray:

A leading Democratic senator has said her party should be willing to go off the fiscal cliff in order secure tax rises on the wealthy, raising the stakes in year-end budget negotiations.

“If the Republicans will not agree with that, we will reach a point at the end of this year where all the tax cuts expire and we’ll start over next year,” said Patty Murray, who was co-chair of last year’s deficit supercommittee, on ABC’s This Week. “And whatever we do will be a tax cut for whatever package we put together. U.S. Congress created this cliff and may now plunge off it

The “fiscal cliff,” a metaphor drawn from nature, was actually created by members of the U.S. Congress, who designed it to be so horrible that they and the president would come to their senses and avert it in the nick of time.

That time is now with the start this week of a lame-duck session of Congress. But it is not at all certain that Republicans and Democrats are ready to make the compromises necessary to undo the trap they set in August 2011.

With all the time available since then, optimists assumed that Congress and President Barack Obama would return after last week’s elections with a plan – perhaps a temporary fix – to avoid the $600 billion in tax increases and budget cuts set to start in January that threaten to throw the economy back into recession.

12 November 2012 Congress goes back to work on Tuesday, facing pressure to work out a deal preventing automatic spending cuts and tax hikes at the end of the year. But unlike the last budget crisis two years ago, both sides seem to be willing to compromise. Ever since last week’s election results, I have told people that the Administration may decide to blame Congress for any and all problems related to the “fiscal cliff” and that, like Senator Murray indicated, it will use this to push for part of its agenda.  And though it will claim that this is about debt reduction and ‘fairness,’ in actuality the debt in the USA will increase.  Barack Obama will blame Congress in general, and Republicans in particular, for creating the situation that is leading to this fiscal cliff.  And he will also claim that he will help solve that as well as the USA’s debt situation.

The reality is that the USA debt continues to rise and break its previous records most days–and ultimately this will contribute to hyperinflation in the USA.

My 2009 book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect warned that the USA will continue to greatly increase its debt:

Because the U.S.A. owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening to it now. President Barack Obama has put forth economic policies that will (for at least several years) greatly increase that debt. Yet, increasing national debt like this will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end (Habakkuk 2:3, 6–8).

The USA national debt clock registered $11 trillion in July 2009 when 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect went to press and is now over to $16 trillion–this prediction about debt going up has sadly been coming to pass. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect also warns:

Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is shifting priorities away from defense spending… This will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the U.S.A. is not.

That too is coming to pass.

Why did I know this?

Partially, because the Bible teaches the following:

12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52)

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The above prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come”, Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use same the Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently.  Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end.  The USA is facing a fiscal cliff–and it is worse than the one that it will run into on January 1, 2013.

The nation with the greatest debt of all time is the United States of America, and on a per capita basis may be the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  Both are going to see a time coming when their currencies have no value other than perhaps as a fuel source (you can burn currency) or similar secondary uses.

It is the the United States and its Anglo-allies that have loaded pledges of debt in these end times that they really do not expect to pay back. In that respect they have recently plundered many nations. And while much is owed to nations such as China, Japan, and the Arab World, the Europeans have trillions of dollars invested in the USA–money they may be disappointed to have devalued.  Enough so that they may divide the land among themselves and other creditors (cf. Daniel 11:39; Habakkuk 2:6-8).

While your nation probably will not repent (Anglo or otherwise), you can. Do not wait until it is too late. The fact that the debt clock has exceeded $16 trillion should serve as a wake-up call that the end of the USA will be coming (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8; Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52)
