Some are calling for Egypt’s President Morsi to repudiate some statements he made a couple of years ago:

STATE DEPARTMENT — The United States said Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi should repudiate remarks he made in 2010 calling on Egyptians to “nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred” for Jews and Zionists.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Washington condemns the comments made by President Morsi at a time when he led the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood. In one of the 2010 videos, Morsi said Egyptian children must feed on that hatred as a form of worshipping God…

President Morsi has not commented publicly since video of his 2010 remarks was broadcast in Cairo last Friday. They have since spread to the Internet and come at a tenuous time for U.S.-Egyptian relations, especially as U.S. lawmakers consider withholding additional financial assistance…

In his 2010 remarks, Mr. Morsi criticized what he said are Zionist supporters – “America, France, and Europe” – singling out President Barack Obama, whom he called a liar for promising the Arab world “empty meaningless words.”  Mr. Morsi took power as Egypt’s first democratically elected president. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-morsi-should-repudiate-anti-semitism-remarks/1584517.html

Hatred of others is not part of pure religion (cf. James 1:27).  The God of the Bible is love (1 John 4:8,16) and wants people to love one another:

20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also (John 4:20-21).

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,  45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.  46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?  47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?  48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.  (Matthew 5:43-48)

29 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Geographically, the Jews in Israel are neighbors to those in Egypt.

Dr. Morsi has long been a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.  When Dr. Morsi was responsible for the official website of the Muslim Brotherhood, it put up an article that stated the following:

The Muslim Brethren…believe that the caliphate is a symbol of Islamic Union and an indication of the bonds between the nations of Islam. They see the caliphate and its re-establishment as a top priority, subsequently; an association of Muslims people should be set up, which would elect the imam”. (zhyntativ. What is the Muslim Brotherhood?

The Muslim Brotherhood apparently wants as its top priority a pan-national Islamic caliphate ruled by an Imam/Caliph. And while it will not get all the territory it wants, it is likely to end up in some type of confederation with at least most of North Africa and the Middle East.  Apparently, espousing hatred to others has been one of his ways to accomplish his objectives.

But if Dr. Morsi really wanted to worship the God of the Bible, he would learn the true meaning of life, and espouse love.

In another move that will tend to decouple international economies from the US dollar, South Africa has made a proposal:

PRETORIA — The newest member of BRICS, South Africa, will host this year’s summit of the group of emerging economies that comprises Brazil, Russia, India and China.  South Africa says it wants emerging economies to have more say, internationally, and to flourish on their own terms, amid a global economic crisis caused by the world’s traditional superpowers. At this year’s summit, BRICS plans to take a decisive step in that direction by starting their own bank…

Together, these five nations represent about $13.7 trillion, which is about a fifth of the world’s GDP (gross domestic product). Fast-growing, resource-rich South Africa seems like a logical partner – it is the only African member of the G20 group of nations.

This year, South Africa will host the group’s summit in March, where they are expected to finalize preparations for their own development bank.

Ambassador Anil Sooklal, deputy director-general of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation,  says finance ministers have not decided where the bank will be or what the bank’s initial funding will be – the oft-discussed figure is $10 billion per nation, for a total of $50 billion. He says the members are “comfortable” with that figure.

“And, I should also point out there is the political will to have this bank. That there is no question around that, there is the political will from all the BRICS countries,” said Sooklal. “Given that within the multilateral development banks, the funds are drying up, they’re shrinking. And, countries of the north have their own challenges. So, liquid capital – in terms of addressing the development challenges of developing countries – is becoming more and more scarce. And therefore, the argument made was that the capital of… almost two-thirds of foreign reserves are held by developing countries today. And, a major part of that is from BRICS countries. That this liquid capital is being invested in sovereign wealth funds in the north. And, it’s felt that this should be invested in something that would work for ourselves.”

As many as 800 businesspeople from the BRICS nations are expected to attend its fifth summit  and will have a chance to meet with high-level leadership.

The BRICS include the nations of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The biblical reality is that they are NOT prophesied to be the main economic power of the world after the Anglo-nations lose dominance.  But they, as a block, have seemed determined to try to avoid using the US dollar for their cross border trade, and the South African proposal is a step in that direction.

And yet, I have long expected the BRICS to have problems. China is likely to have civil uprisings, to cite one example. The BRICS also have concerns about each other.

However, the BRICS are starting to try to form a stronger alliance and that is consistent with the rise of the times of the Gentiles that the Bible refers to:

25… Gentiles, who do not know You…they have eaten up Jacob, Devoured him and consumed him,
And made his dwelling place desolate. (Jeremiah 10:25)

23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:23-24)

2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:2)

The Gentile powers will rise up. But the primary dominant economic power several years from now will be European (Revelation 13:1-4; 16-17)–the Beasts that Daniel saw (Daniel 7:2-7; 19-25) and what the Apostle John described (Revelation 13,17,18) were compromised mainly of people of which now are considered to have European, not BRICS, heritage.

As far as the BRICS go, they will be impacted by global economic conditions, but they are doing better than they were 10-12 years ago. The fact that they will have ups and downs is to be expected.

Many of the BRICS have suggested in the past that they will try to maneuver take steps to replace the US dollar as well as US influence. And while they have not yet succeeded, the time will come when Europe, and not the USA, is the major economic player in the world (cf. Revelation 13:16-17)–and the moves by the BRICS will likely at least help weaken some US dollar dominance.

And while all the BRICS will apparently cooperate with Europe for a time, it is likely that Russia, China, and probably India and perhaps South Africa will turn against Europe per Daniel 11:44 and other scriptures (Brazil is possible, but seems prophetically to be the least likely because of its cultural and connections to Europe).

Anyway, while we are getting closer to the final time of the Gentiles, we are not there yet.  But regularly there are news items showing that steps are being taken consistent with that final rise.  Watch (Mark 13:37).

Habakkuk was a Hebrew prophet.  Some observe a memorial to him on January 15th.

The Jewish Encyclopedia of 1906 reports this about him:

HABAKKUK (; LXX. Ἀμβακούμ; Vulgate, “Habacuc”):

Prophet; author of the eighth in the collection of the twelve minor prophetical books. The etymology of the name of the prophet is not clear. It seems to be a loan-word representing the Assyrian “hambaḳûḳu,” a garden-plant (Friedrich Delitzsch, “Prolegomena,” p. 84; König, “Historisch-Kritisches Lehrgebäude der Hebräischen Sprache,” ii. 1. 473, on the vocalization), and has the appearance of being a writer’s pseudonym (F. E. Peiser, “Der Prophet Habakuk,” in “Mitteilungen der Vorderasiatischen Gesellschaft,” 1903, i. 12). That he was a Levite has been urged on the strength of the postscript to ch. iii. (verse 19, “on my stringed instruments”), which indicates that he owned instruments: only a Levite was authorized to use an instrument to accompany his songs in the Temple. The superscription of the Septuagint apocryphon Βὴλ καὶ Δράκωυ, in the Codex Chisianus, also designates him a Levite.

Around 605-625 B.C. Habakkuk wrote a short book of the Bible that has a lot of implications for the time that we are now in.

Here are some passages from it (italics are not inspired but were headings in the translation):

1 The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw.

The Prophet’s Question

2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!”And You will not save. 3 Why do You show me iniquity, And cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me;There is strife, and contention arises. 4 Therefore the law is powerless, And justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.

The Lord’s Reply

5 “Look among the nations and watch — Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe, though it were told you. 6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans, A bitter and hasty nation Which marches through the breadth of the earth,To possess dwelling places that are not theirs. 7 They are terrible and dreadful;Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves. 8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards,And more fierce than evening wolves. Their chargers charge ahead; Their cavalry comes from afar; They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.   9 “They all come for violence; Their faces are set like the east wind. They gather captives like sand. 10 They scoff at kings, And princes are scorned by them. They deride every stronghold,For they heap up earthen mounds and seize it. 11 Then his mind changes, and he transgresses;He commits offense, Ascribing this power to his god.”  ( Habakkuk 1:1-11)

Notice that the above states that the end time work will not believed by many even though God will reveal it through–which He does through His prophets, like Habakkuk.

The Prophet’s Second Question

12 Are You not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction. 13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more righteous than he? 14 Why do You make men like fish of the sea, Like creeping things that have no ruler over them? 15 They take up all of them with a hook, They catch them in their net, And gather them in their dragnet. Therefore they rejoice and are glad. 16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net, And burn incense to their dragnet; Because by them their share is sumptuous And their food plentiful. 17 Shall they therefore empty their net, And continue to slay nations without pity?  ( Habakkuk 1:12-17)

Notice that in the above the one getting punished will be punished by someone who in certain ways is worse than the one who will be punished.  So while some believe that in certain ways that the USA and its Anglo-allies are more “righteous” than the Beast power that will destroy it, the reality is that this is part of God’s plan.

2:1 I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

The Just Live by Faith

2 Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets,That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.  4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.( Habakkuk 2:1-4)

Notice that the prophecy that is being discussed is for the appointed time of the end.  It is a prophecy for our time–and will affect the proud.

Woe to the Wicked

5 “Indeed, because he transgresses by wine,He is a proud man,And he does not stay at home.Because he enlarges his desire as hell, And he is like death, and cannot be satisfied, He gathers to himself all nationsAnd heaps up for himself all peoples. 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say,’Woe to him who increases What is not his — how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it.   ( Habakkuk 2:5-8)

Actually, with an admitted $16+ trillion dollar debt and plans to increase that much further, the USA has increased pledges more than any nation in the history of the planet.  And on a per capita basis, the United Kingdom is one of the most indebted nations on the earth itself.

Since the above prophecy in Habakkuk will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come”, Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use same the Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently.  Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end. As far as “violence of the land” as a contributing factor, this would seem to include crime, military missions, and perhaps riots/civil unrest, but might it also include promotion of violent sports?

Whether or not Habakkuk himself died on January 15th, the reality is that since much of his message is for the appointed time of the end, his writing (that God inspired) is applicable today.

A few hours ago, the New York Times ran an interesting item related to the weather in 2012:

2012: The Year of Extreme Weather

The weather reports are in. 2012 was the hottest and the most extreme year on record in many places.

While parts of China are enduring the harshest winter in 30 years, the Antarctic is warming at an alarming rate. In Australia, out of control bushfires are partially the result of record-breaking weather (new colors were added to weather forecast maps, to account for the new kind of heat). In the United States, where Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of New Jersey and New York and where extreme drought still lingers in the Midwest, the average temperature in 2012 was more than a whole degree Fahrenheit (or 5/9 of a degree Celsius) higher than average – shattering the record. http://rendezvous.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/14/2012-the-year-of-extreme-weather/

Matthew 24:7

The world is actually in a berserk transition, as the real age of peace is not yet here. It may be a period of chaos. It is the beginning of sorrows

Matthew 24:8

Record heat and odd weather problems should serve as a wake-up call. Weather-related troubles with their related food issues, of course, have been biblically expected:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:7-8).

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

Weather will affect the USA and its Anglo-allies more than most realize.  Furthermore, the debt situation of the USA is putting it at risk of being unable to recover should it be hit by even more severe weather problems, terrorist acts, war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and/or various pestilences–an intensity of “sorrows” such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation.

While some may consider all these weather extremes normal, they do seem to be consistent with the “sorrows” that Jesus warned were coming.

USA President Barack Obama made some debt related statements today:

(Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Monday rejected any negotiation with Republicans over the most pressing U.S. fiscal issue, refusing to trade cuts in government spending in exchange for raising the borrowing limit.

“If the goal is to make sure that we are being responsible about our debt and our deficit – if that’s the conversation we’re having, I’m happy to have that conversation,” Obama said. “What I will not do is to have that negotiation with a gun at the head of the American people,” he told a news conference.

Actually, with a $16+ trillion dollar debt and plans to increase that, plus the implementation of programs such as quantitative easing, the USA absolutely is becoming a deadbeat nation: meaning that it does not truly intend to repay its debtors with goods and/or services that are truly worth $16+ trillion dollars on the world scene today.

While Barack Obama is not the cause of all the ills or debt in the USA (sin is), he has not taken certain steps that I feel are necessary to change the direction to a truly positive one for that country.  And his comments today seem consistent with that view.

Continuing to increase the debt ceiling is very risky.

Why?

Debt is often caused by greed, and debt is very dangerous:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The above prophecy in Habakkuk will be fulfilled at the time of the end (cf. “The message was true, but the appointed time was long…in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come”, Daniel 10:1,14). Daniel 8:19, 11:27,29,35 use same the Hebrew term for “appointed time” as Habakkuk 2:3, while Daniel 10, using a different term, ties the latter days to the time in Daniel 8:19. Habakkuk 2 was not fulfilled in its entirety anciently. Also, it makes little sense that Habakkuk would be directed towards the modern nation of Israel as it does not have enemy creditors. It must be a nation or group of nations with some prominence at the appointed time of the end. As far as “violence of the land” as a contributing factor, this would seem to include crime, military missions, and perhaps riots/civil unrest, but might it also include promotion of violent sports?  But either way, it should be clear that increasing debt involves risks that the USA should not take.  Yet it still insists on doing so.

Notice that sudden destruction will occur among those who are spiritually drunk:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-7)

8… A plunderer at noonday; I will cause anguish and terror to fall on them suddenly…
13 Your wealth and your treasures
I will give as plunder without price,
Because of all your sins,
Throughout your territories.
14 And I will make you cross over with your enemies
Into a land which you do not know;
For a fire is kindled in My anger,
Which shall burn upon you.” (Jeremiah 15:8;13-14)

Notice that both Paul and Habakkuk seem to have tied drunkenness in with this sudden calamity (so did Jesus in Luke 21:34-35). Truly the Anglo-nations are not spiritually sober–and the indebtedness of the USA is not a spiritually sober thing to do.

Notice how Ezekiel’s writings confirm that those who made profits improperly (such as quantitative easing and other forms of currency debasement) will be punished:

13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands remain strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and will do it. 15 I will scatter you among the nations, disperse you throughout the countries, and remove your filthiness completely from you. (Ezekiel 22:13-15)

Borrowing money that will not be paid back is a “dishonest profit” which the American and British peoples have been living on for the past several years (as is the “quantitative easing” programs for the US Federal Reserve; see also Doubling QE3 is not good). The Anglo-power will be scattered for this and their filthiness (see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?). Sexual immorality and abortion are simply some outward signs of this filthiness.

The USA is a de facto deadbeat nation as it really does not intend to pay its bills in full.  And it will be a bigger disaster for the USA than nearly all Americans can conceive.

China’s problems with pollution seem to be increasing:

BEIJING Beijing schools kept children indoors and hospitals saw a spike in respiratory cases Monday following a weekend of off-the charts pollution in China’s smoggy capital, the worst since the government began being more open about air-quality data.

City authorities, who began releasing figures about some of the worst kinds of pollutants early last year, ordered many factories to scale back emissions and were spraying water at building sites to try to tamp down dust and dirt worsening the noxious haze hanging over the city…

Levels of PM2.5 particle pollution over the weekend reached the highest levels since the Beijing government began publicly releasing figures following a public outcry. In separate monitoring by the U.S. Embassy, levels were at 886 micrograms per cubic meter in a reading that was labeled “beyond index.”…

BEIJING—The worst air pollution in Beijing in recent memory has prompted an unprecedented outpouring of candor and criticism from state-run media, an implicit acknowledgment by the government that the problem has reached crisis levels and threatens a political backlash.

Official propaganda has often portrayed the dismal air quality in Chinese cities as the price to pay for rapid economic development. But faced with choking smog in the capital so bad that it has cut visibility to 200 meters, disrupted flights at the airport and closed some highways, state media have changed their tune.

To drink or not to drink? That is the question for Beijing residents, according to water quality expert Zhao Feihong.

Her answer: No. She advises anyone who can afford it to switch to bottled water, claiming it is a safer alternative.

“I have not drunk tap water for 20 years,” said Zhao, a researcher on drinking water at the Beijing Healthcare Association. “The capital’s water has gotten more polluted in recent years.”

Many of her friends and relatives also shun tap water because of health concerns, she said.

“In the past we used to drink directly from Miyun Reservoir (on the outskirts of the city), which was built in 1958 and is one of the largest in North China,” she said. “The water quality at the reservoir at that time was on a par with Germany, which has strict standards for surface water. SHANGHAI – The seepage of chemicals into a river connecting two northern Chinese provinces is the latest accident to highlight the country’s serious water-pollution problem and to raise doubts about whether the authorities acted quickly to raise the alarm.

Nearly 40 tonnes of a chemical compound called aniline used in manufacturing and agriculture leaked into a disused reservoir and a local river in Shanxi province after a pipe burst late last month, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.

Almost a quarter of that amount moved into the Zhouzhang River and flowed east towards neighbouring Hebei province, prompting the authorities in one city to cut off drinking water and those elsewhere to go on alert…

Water pollution is a serious problem in China, with rubbish blamed for clogging dams, refineries for damaging marine life and fertilisers for ruining aquifers. China’s problems with air, water, and other pollution is harming the health of many of its residents.  Residents who already have serious concerns about the government itself and many of its policies.  The time may come when an incident tied to government corruption and pollution will become a rallying cry for revolution in China.

Because of pollution, economic policies, other problems, its serious potential for significant social unrest, and how it is discussed in biblical prophecy, these factors demonstrate that despite its economic gains, the 21st century will not belong to China. China will not become number 1, but later in this century, neither will the USA.

The following passage which involves the second coming of Jesus ends with an interesting statement:

8 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.  (Revelation 11:18)

Are not massive air, water, and other pollution problems part of how humankind is destroying the earth?

Jesus will need to return to save humanity from destroying itself (Matthew 24:22).

But when?

We in the Continuing Church of God believe that God gave humans 6,000 years to live their own way (please see the article Did The Early Church Teach Millenarianism and a 6000 Year Plan?). And that humans will mess things up so bad, “unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved” (Matthew 24:22).  And that 6.000 years is close to being up–and probably will be in the next decade or so.

But because God has a plan for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 13:38) and a God of love (1 John 4:8,16; John 3:16), that He will intervene and send Jesus to establish a millennial kingdom on earth (Revelation 11:15; 20:4). During this 1000 year reign the world will become beautiful again (Isaiah 35:1-10; 58:12) (see also Did The Early Church Teach Millenarianism?).

After this thousand year reign, all who ever lived will be resurrected (Revelation 20:5). The judgment will begin (Revelation 20:12) and God will plead His case (Isaiah 3:13; Jeremiah 25:31). When humans see how they started out with a very good and beautiful earth and messed up and nearly completely destroyed it in their 6,000 years, it appears that they will realize that humankind that distanced itself from the true God cannot properly govern itself. However, when they see how when starting with a messed up and nearly completely destroyed earth at the end of the 6,000 years (please see the article Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?), that it was restored to being very good again, like Eden (Isaiah 51:3), because people obeyed the King of Kings during the millennium (please see Did The Early Church Teach Millenarianism?), then apparently nearly all who ever lived will repent of their ways, accept Jesus as the Christ, and will live God’s way of life.

Since God is love (1 John 4:16), we in the Continuing Church of God believe that He has a plan that takes into account how human beings would have rebelled against Him (cf. 1 Peter 1:20-21). We also believe that God is smart enough to have developed a plan that does not result in the vast majority of humanity having to suffer endless torment. Thus we believe it is logical that His plan will result in nearly everyone who ever lived, no matter what their religion or background was, to be saved. And that there are hundreds of verses in the Bible that show this—and this is God’s will (2 Peter 3:9; John 3:16-17). This plan is also consistent with writings about Christianity throughout history—though most in modern times seem to wish to overlook that fact. And a little known fact is that there are hundreds of verses in the Bible that show this (documentation is in the article Universal Offer of Salvation: There Are Hundreds of Verses in the Bible Supporting the Doctrine of True Apocatastasis).

And this will be good news, not only for the Chinese, but for all of humanity.

There were major protests in Paris:

Hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Paris yesterday in opposition to plans to give gay couples the right to marry and to adopt children…

Police said 340,000 people joined the marches, while organisers put the figure at one million, claiming the biggest turnout for any protest in France in 30 years.

France already allows civil unions between same-sex couples and president François Hollande made an election campaign pledge to extend their rights. He has a big enough majority in parliament to enact the law, but the debate has mobilised conservatives and become the most divisive issue of Mr Hollande’s term so far…

Large coalition

Strongly backed by the Catholic hierarchy, Ms Barjot and groups working with her mobilised a large coalition that included Catholics and political conservatives as well as some Muslims, evangelicals and even homosexuals opposed to gay marriage.

Paris – Several hundred thousand people massed at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday to protest against President Francois Hollande’s plan to legalise gay marriage and adoption by June…

Cardinal Andre Vingt-Trois, a Catholic leader who launched the opposition with a critical sermon in August, greeted protesters in southern Paris but did not march with them.

Support for gay marriage in France has slipped by about 10 percentage points to under 55 percent since opponents began speaking out, according to surveys, and fewer than half of those polled recently wanted gays to win adoption rights.  http://www.iol.co.za/news/world/hollande-pressured-by-protesters-1.1450711

While the Church of Rome may not win in all of its plans related to this subject, it certainly has made its voice heard.  And once there are signs and lying wonders (2 Thessalonians 2) more will be willing to stand up for what the Church of Rome wants.

Last Spring, when he became France’s president-elect, I wondered if we might see riots under his administration (see France Gets a New President: Could France Later Have Riots?).

The Bible tells of a basically European kingdom (which will include at least part of France if not all of it) that will be partially strong, partially weak, and with a fragile unity (Daniel 2:41-43), but that will have a frightening type of economic dominance (see Revelation chapters 13,17,18). This kingdom will have a religion and it will at first claim ties to Roman Catholicism.

The Bible also tells of a time when a European power will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13). While I do not believe that we are to the point of fulfilling the reorganization required by Revelation 17:12-13, it seems that a variety of steps will be necessary for the final reorganization to occur. Some of those steps, especially if they involve austerity/budget cuts and immigration policies, may stir more violent protests in the future. Moral issues, from various ones, are also likely to be a factor.

Violent protests can lead to militaristic leaders rising up, and a major militaristic leader rising up is consistent with biblical prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39-44; Revelation 13:3-4).

Yesterday’s protests in Paris may be a prelude to that. as well as other protests that we have seen in Europe in recent years.

The flu has spread to at least 47 states in the USA:

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the worst influenza epidemic in the United States in a decade might be easing in some places.The CDC flu advisory report released Friday finds widespread outbreaks in 47 states, up from 41 last week…

oseph Bresee, who heads the CDC’s Influenza Division, said Friday that the vaccine developed to combat the most prevalent strains of flu is “62 percent effective.” That means that almost four in 10 people who get the vaccine and are exposed to the virus will still become infected. Bresee says the vaccine’s performance is on par with other recent vaccines…

The mayor of Boston declared a public health emergency Wednesday, with 10 times more cases reported compared to last year in the northeastern U.S. city.U.S. health authorities say the flu arrived a month earlier than usual this year, in November, and the most prevalent flu strain – H3N2 – has a reputation for causing fairly severe illness, especially in the elderly. http://www.voanews.com/content/us_flu_season_hits_47_states/1582324.html

While various forms of the flu hit pretty much every years, infections are part of the pestilences that the Bible warned about for the end times. Jesus taught:

7…And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:6-8)

We seem to be in the time Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows”. There have been “earthquakes in various places” this past year. There are some famines and they may increase soon. Candida, other fungi, bacteria, and viruses are not the only pestilences starting to rise up either.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

the Treasury can keep borrowing regardless, citing the 14th Amendment, pushing the issue to the courts, which I’m willing to bet wouldn’t rule to put the country into default. The USA’s governmental handling of debt and certain other economic issues is making it become the economic laughing stock around the world.  Yet, even those that sometimes may be laughing are horrified and this is causing many to take steps to decouple as much as they feel that they can from the US dollar (more on the platinum coin can be found in the article USA to run out of money next month? Platinum coins seriously considered as an option?).

While the international process to decouple from the US dollar has been going on since at least 2009 (it actually began earlier, but in 2009 a United Nations report came out advising this), the intensity for this decoupling is accelerating because of various proposed “accounting tricks”  and other gimmicks that do not get to the core problems facing the economy of the USA.

What are they?

From a physical perspective, the USA keeps spending significantly more that it produces.  This basically has resulted in parts of the rest of the world holding US debt notes that ultimately will be worthless.

The Bible has a somber warning about this:

The USA has been able to get away with its financial shenanigans better than many other nations for several reasons. But the major one is probably because the world still accepts the US dollar (for many reasons) as its reserve currency. Increasing debt, however, is increasing increased national investments in gold and currencies other than the US dollar for many countries. Some nations are trying to eliminate the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and the United Nations has urged countries to do that. Yet most still use /have a lot of U.S. dollars.  But as Habakkuk warns, the time will come when a debtor nation will have its creditors rise up.

As the greatest debtor nation of all time, the prophecy in Habakkuk seems to apply to the USA.

Habakkuk 2:3,6,7 (which is consistent with Isaiah 29:5-6, 30:12-13 and Jeremiah 15:8), that destruction will happen to those that increased their debt at the end times:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you. Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The debt situation of the USA is putting it at risk of being unable to recover should it be hit by weather problems, terrorist acts, war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and/or various pestilences–an intensity of “sorrows” such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation. Disasters, especially if there is an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (emp) attack or a severe solar flare storm, could be part of a so-called “perfect storm” of events that could set the USA for destruction.  This may embolden various creditors to take the steps that Habakkuk warned about.

Bible prophecy shows that the King of the North and King of the South will rise up and the U.S.A. will be ultimately destroyed unless national repentance happens.

Various policies and decisions in Washington, D.C., however, may hasten the day of destruction. The USA is creating the conditions for the upcoming European Beast power to fill the void in economic (and even military) leadership that the USA is in the process of making.

Europe is getting closer to releasing banknotes with the face of the mythological goddess Europa, from whence the name Europe and the Euro derive from:

The ancient Greek goddess Europa who was abducted and raped by the god Zeus is to be featured on new five-euro notes which will be unveiled by the European Central Bank in the Spring.

The new €5 banknote has benefited from advances in banknote technology since the first series was introduced over ten years ago. It includes some new and enhanced security features. The watermark and hologram display a portrait of Europa, a figure from Greek mythology – and hence the name of this series of banknotes. An eye-catching “emerald number” changes colour from emerald green to deep blue and displays an effect of the light that moves up and down. Short raised lines on the left and right edges of the banknote make it easier to identify the banknote, especially for visually impaired people.

Europa will start on the €5 note and then eventually; her face is to be on the larger notes as well.  The showing the slight arc above her head slightly reminds me of certain Marian images, so there may end up being some type of connection (for a short while perhaps).  The flag of Europe, by-the-way, is based upon part of a Marian image (see also Vatican News: EU Flag is Marian).  In certain respects, Europe intends to portray itself as a “virgin” (Isaiah 47), but the reality is that the Bible will consider much of what it becomes as “the mother of harlots.”

On the banknotes, just Euopa’s face is being shown, which according to an earlier report (see EU Plans to Put Picture of Woman Who Rode the Beast on Euro Notes), is to not offend “national sensibilities” (Europa is often shown immodestly).

Greek 2 Euro Coin Shows Europa Riding the Beast

Greece has long had Europa on its two Euro coin. And it also shows her riding the Beast (some versions say Zeus raped her, others that he seduced her).

Despite its current problems, which are consistent with biblical prophecy (Daniel 2:41-43), the Bible shows that Europe will rise up, make a deal with the harlot woman of Revelation 17, and become the end time Beast power of Revelation 13.

Europe’s symbols have also tended to confirm its prophetic role in this regard. Although the Europa story comes from Greek mythology, the Bible mentions the following related to Europe:

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits…18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:3-9,18)

Most theological scholars, including Catholic ones, believe that the city of seven mountains (hills in some translations) represent Rome.

The fact that, not only on the Greek coin and future Euro banknotes, but also in front of the EU Council of Ministers Office in Brussels, Belgium, there is a large statue of an immodest female Europa on a beast. This shows that the European Union is apparently not ashamed of its suggested ties to these scriptures, though it obviously is preferring to promote its mythological connection. Years ago, a Larry Blake sent me several pictures of the woman (Europa) riding the bull (a beast) as symbols of European Union which are linked for additional proof of these ties. And now, with intentionally utilizing an image of Europa on its currency, Europe wants to continue its connection to mythology.

The ties to Greco-Roman mythology, the Bible, and modern Europe are interesting to observe. Sadly, not enough people in Europe (or elsewhere) have made the connection. What will ultimately rise up in Europe is not what rationale people should ever want and some of Europe’s symbolism should help alert people to this.
