The US Supreme Court granted a victory to the abortion providing Planned Parenthood:

(Reuters) – In a victory for Planned Parenthood, the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to consider whether the state of Indiana can prevent the nonprofit healthcare provider from receiving federal Medicaid funding for any medical services it offers to low-income people.

Supporters of the law, which was blocked by an appeals court, had wanted to prohibit any government funding of Planned Parenthood’s medical programs, such as cancer and HIV screenings, because the group also provides abortion services.  http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/28/us-usa-court-abortion-idUSBRE94R0ID20130528

Planned Parenthood has received federal funding since 1970, and often this funding has been controversial.  It is the largest U.S. provider of abortions.  Planned Parenthood conducts roughly 300,000 abortions each year in the U.S.

The reality is that abortion is horrible and Planned Parenthood has profited financially from abortions for decades (employees and officers of non-profit organizations do profit from these type of groups). Abortion kills a human baby.

The Bible makes it clear that David and Jeremiah were human and known before to God while they were in the womb prior to being born:

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.  And in Your book they all were written,  The days fashioned for me,When as yet there were none of them (Psalm 139:13-16, NKJV throughout except when otherwise noted).

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations”  (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

Furthermore, notice that the death penalty could come from an injury to a pregnant woman:

If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe (Exodus 21:22-25).

The expression “no harm follows” can be interpreted that both the mother and the baby live, and that the baby and mother are healthy. But, if they are not and somehow permanently harmed, punishment will follow, apparently including the death penalty if either die. God does not condone the killing of unborn infants.

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) a term translated about 26 times as infant(s) or child or little one is the Hebrew word ‘owlel.  That same word is used for unborn infants in Job 3:16 (and perhaps other verses), hence God considers unborn infants to be living human beings–children.

Do not Americans realize that since the 1973 Roe vs. Wade pro-abortion ruling by the US Supreme Court that the USA has gone from being a creditor nation to the the most indebted nation that the world has ever seen?

There are terrible consequences for sin, and instead of properly discouraging sexual immorality, directly or at least indirectly the USA funds killing babies.

This does not bode well for the USA.  The Bible is against murder and those who approve of it and other sins:

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.  (Romans 1:28-32)

Directly, or indirectly, sin should not be funded or have its funding approved.

The great tribulation is coming and biblically is expected to hit the USA and its Anglo-related allies first (cf. Daniel 11:39).

Various ‘hackers’ in China may have gotten secret military information from both the USA and Australia:

Designs for many of the nation’s most sensitive advanced weapons systems have been compromised by Chinese hackers, according to a report prepared for the Pentagon and to officials from government and the defense industry.Among more than two dozen major weapons systems whose designs were breached were programs critical to U.S. missile defenses and combat aircraft and ships, according to a previously undisclosed section of a confidential report prepared for Pentagon leaders by the Defense Science Board.

Experts warn that the electronic intrusions gave China access to advanced technology that could accelerate the development of its weapons systems and weaken the U.S. military advantage in a future conflict…

ome of the weapons form the backbone of the Pentagon’s regional missile defense for Asia, Europe and the Persian Gulf. The designs included those for the advanced Patriot missile system, known as PAC-3; an Army system for shooting down ballistic missiles, known as the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD; and the Navy’s Aegis ballistic-missile defense system.

Also identified in the report are vital combat aircraft and ships, including the F/A-18 fighter jet, the V-22 Osprey, the Black Hawk helicopter and the Navy’s new Littoral Combat Ship, which is designed to patrol waters close to shore.

28 May 2013CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reported on “CBS This Morning” that the report, put together by the Defense Science Board for Pentagon leaders, includes a veritable who’s who of the weapons that will be involved in President Barack Obama’s so-called “Pacific pivot.” The pivot, Martin explained, is where you take the weight of the U.S. military away from the wars of the last decade and move them into the Pacific Ocean where the main competitor is China.

An Australian broadcaster said Chinese hackers have stolen the blueprints of a new, state-of-the-art spy agency headquarters being built in Canberra.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation said the theft was traced to a computer server in China. It says the building plans show detailed information on server locations, security systems and communications cables.

Experts say, if confirmed, the theft will make it easier for Chinese hackers to spy on the activities in the $608 million Australian Security Intelligence Organization building.

The paper, which did not name its sources, says the information was obtained through a cyber attack on a building contractor. It did not say when the alleged attack occurred.

When asked about the report, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard called the story “inaccurate” and “unsubstantiated,” but would not comment further.   http://www.voanews.com/content/chinese-hackers-steal-blueprints-for-new-australian-spy-headquarters-report/1669579.html

As far as Australia goes, the day she was announced as Australia’s Prime Minister, I warned that Julia Gillard would take steps to get China to consider taking over her country.  And whether or not the Chinese successfully hacked into Australia’s new military headquarters’ plans, this has already happened (see Australia’s PM Gillard Speaks of ‘Asian Century’ and Learning Mandarin & Hindi, But…).

China wants more power. Much of what China appears to be doing is consistent with what its late leader Deng Xiaoping once expressed,

China must hide brightness and nourish obscurity . . . to bide our time and build up our capabilities (Source: Times Online).

China is moving forward economically and politically in Asia. And while China will have problems, the Bible shows that it will be part of a massive military confederation that will include many in Asia (Revelation 16:12).

As far as the USA goes, it keeps losing military secrets to China and Europe.  With Europe, this loss of secrets is mostly intentional.

These type of hacking reports related to China and others will help weaken the USA.  Furthermore, they will also tend to get the USA to fear China more and Europe less, this will result in the USA being vulnerable, in the future, to a takeover from Europe.

The USA is losing military secrets.  The USA is making cuts to its military spending and research, while the Chinese are increasing military spending and research (China increasing military spending while USA cuts it).  All the while the Europeans are funding the most advanced physics’ projects on the planet, such as the Large Hadron Collider and F.A.I.R. projects.

While the USA is still the strongest military force in the world, the Bible tells of a time when those who possess the “strongest fortresses” will be takeover over by a European power (Daniel 11:39).  The Bible also teaches that although this is something that the Europeans did not intend to do (Isaiah 10:6-7), they will do it anyway (Isaiah 10:7-11).  This will be a shock and a surprise to the world, but it will come to pass (Revelation 13:4).

The more military secrets the USA and its Anglo-allies like Australia lose, the easier it will be for them to be taken over.  The hacking reports in today’s news strongly suggest that military secrets are being lost.  Losing military secrets will make a difference.  The USA will not remain on top for too many more years.

A reader just made me aware of an archeological find earlier this Spring that is providing information about the area where near Abram, who later became Abraham, lived:

A team of British archaeologists from the University of Manchester has discovered what they believe to be a large building complex underground in an area of Iraq near Tell Khaiber. Using a satellite, the team spotted the 87-yard-long building before confirming its presence by way of geographical survey and trial excavations. They now believe this 4,000-year-old building could have had a critical function in Ur, one of the world’s earliest cities.

“We provisionally date the site to around 2,000 BC, the time of the sack of the city and the fall of the last Sumerian royal dynasty.”

By being one of the world’s first and most developed cities, this is consistent with the view that Abram had a certain amount of education and writing ability.  Some biblical critics had questioned that in the past.

Here is some of what the Bible tells about Ur:

27 This is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot. 28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans. 29 Then Abram and Nahor took wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah. 30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they came to Haran and dwelt there.  (Genesis 11:27-31)

1After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

2 But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”

4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

7 Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”  (Genesis 15:1-7)

This is interesting as we get closer to the end that archeologists continue to find more evidence of biblical locations, figures, and events.

Of course, for those of us who believe the Bible, no further proof is needed. But for some who have heard statements from pseudo-archaeologists that deny the biblical accounts, it may be helpful for them to realize that as time goes on, more and more archaeological evidence surfaces that supports the Bible.

If you have paid much attention to news in the USA the past several weeks, you noticed many stories about scandals and possible coverups of misdeeds by federal government officials.

Three ongoing controversies have hurtled the GOP – particularly its furthest-right faction – back onto Washington’s boxing ring, giving it legs to stand on after being crippled by years’ worth of infighting and the accompanying perception that its members were becoming ever-more “rigid” and “extreme.”

Long-peddled questions about how the administration handled an attack last Sept. 11 in Benghazi, Libya, were recently joined by news that the Justice Department secretly subpoenaed reporters’ phone records. The Internal Revenue Service has admitted to singling out conservative political groups for heightened scrutiny in recent years.  The IRS is a politically-independent agency within the Treasury Department, which is headed by a member of the president’s Cabinet. ..

“What we do now know that, for roughly two years, the IRS was targeting Americans based on their political beliefs,” he said. “So we are going to continue this investigation to get to the bottom of this: who knew [about the scandal]?  When did they know?  Why did they do this?  How high up in government did it go?”

Speaking on the Fox News Sunday television program, Ryan dismissed last week’s assertion by the IRS’ former acting commissioner that the targeting of certain political groups constituted errors and “poor customer service”.

“People deserve a government they can trust, that is honest, impartial.  To try and suggest that this is just bureaucratic snafus [mistakes] – we already know that that is not true,” he said.

In addition to the IRS scandal, Congress has been probing the administration’s actions during and after last year’s attack on the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya that killed four Americans, including the ambassador, and whether the Justice Department acted properly in secretly seizing phone records form the Associated Press.   http://www.voanews.com/content/white-house-unaware-of-irs-misdeeds-us-official/1664109.html

According to two former diplomats who spoke with PJ Media’s Roger Simon, more Benghazi whistleblowers will emerge and blow a giant hole in the Obama administration’s already shaky narrative regarding the deaths of four Americans. Their revelations will focus on two subjects: the real purpose of Ambassador Christopher Steven’s mission in Libya, and the pressure put on former AFRICOM commander Gen. Carter Ham to stand down from any attempt to rescue those under attack. FWIW, I heard a commentator on a news/commentary program state that if the truth about Benghazi had been properly covered by more of the media that Mitt Romney, and not Barack Obama, would now be President of the USA.  And while that may very well be, I always felt (since at least 2009, if not late 2008) that since God determines who leads, this combined with the moral decline in the USA suggested that somehow Barack Obama would be re-elected, and of course he was.

Notice also the following:

17 ‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers,
And the sentence by the word of the holy ones,
In order that the living may know
That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,
Gives it to whomever He will,
And sets over it the lowest of men.’ (Daniel 4:17)

Note: This does not mean that I directly or indirectly endorsed Mormon Mitt Romney, as I did not.  But, I did feel that an Obama  re-election fit more with various scriptures.

And while there has long been corruption and coverups in governments, the latest ones are embarrassing for the Obama Administration and certainly taint its claim that it would be the “most open Administration” in recent history.

Furthermore, notice something that US President Barack Obama has posted at the official White House website:

Perhaps he did intend his Administration to be the most open and transparent one.  Recent news reports suggest that many in his Administration did not follow the presumed intent of that memo.

Notice that the Bible teaches the following about leaders, debt, and end time destruction:

12…Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)

16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).

Now, the real cause of all of this scandal is sin. The USA has moved away from traditional marriage, expanded homosexual “rights,” increased its tolerance for pornography, exports entertainment with lower and lower standards, has violence in the land, encourages/engages in violence elsewhere, seeks to expand abortion, does not truly value truth, and basically is turning further and further away from biblical morality.

The Bible teaches:

20 ‘You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.  (Deuteronomy 5:20)

8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)

44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God. (John 8:44-47)

Yet, last summer, the US Supreme Court backed up the constitutionality of lying (Supreme Court Protects ‘Right to Lie’).  Some believe they did so to allow people to lie about matters such as adultery as that was a concern a few months before that decision (see Supreme Court Divided About Lies).  So, it is little wonder that scandals and coverups are part of the political landscape, perhaps even more than they were before.

And while this is true for some other lands as well, the USA, with its earlier respect for certain Judeo-Christian values should know better. The New Testament clearly teaches:

48 For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required (Luke 12:48).

The U.S.A. and its Anglo-allies have been given much. The three “most sinful nations” according to a 2010 BBC report based on the classic ‘seven deadly sins’—lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride’— were Australia, the United States, and Canada (‘The Most Sinful Nation on Earth,’ February 2010, p. 30). The United Kingdom was 6th on that list. And while one can argue if other nations should be ahead of them on a sin-list, the reality is that the Anglo-nations promote a lot of sin. And they accept more and more sin.

Despite its military strength (which is getting affected by the debt situation as well as homosexuality, etc.), destruction is coming to the USA (Daniel 11:39).

The physical assets of the old WCG helped the church reach world leaders with the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom. It seems that some of them have become a burden to those who have tried to develop the property since.

City Ventures acquired the property over three years ago (Ambassador College Campus Again Changing Ownership).  In 2011.  they laid out plans to develop ‘high end’ homes (High End Homes to Be Built on Old Ambassador College Grounds).

Although my wife and I will miss many of the old buildings, the Gospel message will be proclaimed to the world as it is not dependent upon physical assets.

China keeps taking steps to eliminate the US dollar as the primary reserve currency in the world:

New Zealand and China are in talks about making their currencies directly convertible, aiming to reduce costs as trade between the two countries is targeted to surge 33 percent in the next two years.

The talks were initiated during New Zealand Prime Minister John Key’s visit to China last month, his spokeswoman Lesley Hamilton said by telephone yesterday, confirming an earlier report in the Wall Street Journal. The negotiations are in an early stage and are progressing without a specific timeframe, she said…

Decades ago, the world decided to do much/most of its trade in US dollars.  Although the old Communist block and some others did not, most of the rest of the nations decided that the US dollar was the best currency for international trade.  China wants its renminbi yuan to replace the US dollar and has taken steps to conduct trade with Russia, Brazil, Australia, and others using its own currency.

What most in the USA do not realize is that the US standard of living has been subsidized by foreign nations for decades, partially because of the widespread use of the US dollar as the primary reserve currency of the world.  When this changes the USA will see high inflation and at least a relative drop if not a massive actual drop in its economic standard of living.  The USA will not be able to maintain its lead in the military, and despite its strength will be taken over per Daniel 11:39, Daniel 8:25,  and Habakkuk 2:6-8.  But this will not be limited to the USA as New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and Canada will also be taken over.

As far as China goes, it has also been accumulating gold to demonstrate that its currency has more tangible backing than currencies like the US dollar.  However, because of internal and other matters, it will not be the power to takeover the USA–but because of China, the USA will fear it more than the power that the Bible says will end up dominating the world’s financial system (Revelation 13; see also the video Is China THE Threat to the United States of America?).

Interestingly, one foreign creditor, China, has raised concerns about the U.S. debt that are so serious,  that its potential dumping of that debt has been called China’s “nuclear option” (Gertz B,  China Debt Threat.  Washington Times, March 2, 2011) against the U.S.A.—an option that involves no military intervention, but that could greatly harm the U.S.A.The Bible clearly warns against cheapening the money supply and encourages having it hold its value (Proverbs 25:4 Isaiah 1:25, Ezekiel 22:18-22).  Barack Obama’s policies, following certain other administrations, have ignored these warnings.

Furthermore, the time will come when the U.S.A. government will no longer be able to borrow at low interest rates and/or it will create more money electronically and/or via the printing press to try to continue.  Massive inflation is coming.  Make no mistake about it, the U.S.A. dollar will ultimately crash and be worthless.  That “pride” of American power will be broken (cf. Leviticus 26:19)…

Since the Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, the U.S.A. switched from being a creditor nation and instead has become the greatest debtor nation in the history of humankind—perhaps this is resulting in a biblical curse?   Because the U.S.A. owes alien nations trillions of dollars, it appears that the curse in Deuteronomy 28:44 of having to borrow from aliens is happening now.  President Barack Obama has put forth economic policies that will (for at least several years) greatly increase that debt and ultimately interest rates—this is something that the U.S.A. will not truly be able to afford.  Increasing national debt will lead to destruction at the appointed time of the end (Habakkuk 2:3–8).   Others will not be able to reverse enough of the debt to stop Habakkuk 2:3-8 from being fulfilled…

The credit rating for the U.S.A. will drop further (though it could temporarily improve).

When the U.S. dollar is no longer the de facto reserve currency for the world, this will hurt the U.S.A. financially.  Increasing debt, including “quantitative easing,” is a form of dishonest profits that is not something that God approves of and will punish the U.S.A. for (cf. Ezekiel 22:13-16).  Inflation will eventually hit the U.S.A. extremely hard.  As the world becomes less attached to the American dollar, many financial jobs and opportunities will be in places other than the U.S.A.  Eventually, and not in Barack Obama’s second term, the U.S.A. dollar will become worthless. I would also add that WHEN the USA has to increase interest rates, this will lead to a downward spiral, that while it likely will have some “ups”, while result in the USA being taken over and destroyed. The Bible warns about the indebted one getting taken over by its creditors at the appointed time of the end (cf. Habakkuk 2), and the USA is currently the greatest debtor nation in the history of the world. And after interest rates rise for the USA dollar, it will be worse in the USA than almost any economist will publicly admit.

The USA dollar will be replaced.  Nations around the world are taking steps to replace it, and the USA itself continues to increase debt, which will help make the replacement of the US dollar biblically required.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Today, many in the USA observe ‘Memorial Day.’  It was originally known as ‘Decoration Day.’  It started after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day was extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.

It is proper to pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us. Memorial Day should also be a time of reflection on when it is moral for the United States to wage war and, if allowed, how this country should conduct war.

War is awful. In these days of shallow, sanitized news coverage, the real horror of war rarely confronts us with the terrible death it levies against fellow humans, soldiers and civilians alike, and the maiming injuries, physical and psychological, it leaves behind in its wake…

Over the centuries, religious leaders and moral philosophers have clarified moral principles for commencing a “just war.” Choices about war and peace involve not only military and political options, but also moral questions

The ‘just war’ concept, to a major degree, is based upon the writings of the Catholic theologian Thomas Aquinas, and was a term used by early followers of Martin Luther.  In the 16th century, Martin Luther’s followers condemned those who did not believe that Christians were to be soldiers (see Military Service and the Churches of God: Do Real Christians Participate in Carnal Warfare?).

Yet, from the beginning of the New Testament church, true Christians (and even most of the heretical apostates) would not participate in carnal warfare.  For the most part until near the time of the sun-god worshiping Emperor Constantine, even the Greco-Romans who professed Christ were opposed to being part of the military (see Military Service and the Churches of God: Do Real Christians Participate in Carnal Warfare?).  From around the time of Constantine, a variety of arguments were developed to try to justify violating this original Christian practice, yet those who continued the original faith resisted these human arguments.

As far as war goes, it will be eliminated by the final phase of the Kingdom of God.  Notice what the Bible teaches:

2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
3 Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.  (Isaiah 2:2-4)

1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”  (Revelation 21:1-5)

So, as many remember the soldiers who died in warfare today, Christians can look forward to the time that there will be no more war nor pain of war.

A pair of rockets slammed into a car dealership and a residential building in strongholds of Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia in southern Beirut on Sunday, wounding four people and raising fears that Syria’s civil war is increasingly moving to Lebanon.

Lebanon’s sectarian divide mirrors that of Syria, and Lebanese armed factions have taken sides in their neighbour’s civil war.

There was no claim of responsibility for Sunday’s attack. However, a Syrian rebel commander threatened earlier this week to strike against Hezbollah strongholds in retaliation for the militia’s military support for Syrian President Bashar Assad. Two rockets hit a Shiite Muslim district of southern Beirut on Sunday and wounded several people, residents said, a day after the leader of Lebanese Shiite militant movement Hezbollah said his group would continue fighting in Syria until victory.

It was the first attack to apparently target Hezbollah’s stronghold in the south of the Lebanese capital since the outbreak of the two-year conflict in neighbouring Syria, which has sharply heightened Lebanon’s own sectarian tensions…

In Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, residents said three rockets landed on Sunday close to the mainly Shiite border town of Hermel, without causing injuries. The early morning attack came as Syria’s fractured opposition began an unscheduled fourth day of meetings on the peace conference proposal and after Hezbollah pledged “victory” in Syria over the rebels.

Its chief, Hassan Nasrallah, said it was in the militant anti-Israeli group’s own interest to defend President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. “I have always promised you a victory and now I pledge to you a new one” in Syria, he said in a speech marking 13 years since his arch-foe Israel withdrew from Lebanon.

Hours after he spoke, two Grad rockets slammed into the al-Shayyah area of south Beirut, a security source said, wounding four Syrian workers at a car dealership.

It was the first time the Lebanese capital’s mainly Shi’ite southern suburbs have been targeted during the more than two-year-old conflict in Syria. An AFP photographer said the second rocket damaged an apartment block…

In Istanbul, the opposition Syrian National Coalition met for a fourth day to try to overcome deep divisions over the Geneva peace conference.

The opposition’s long-standing position is that, after more than two years of devastating conflict which has killed more than 94,000 people, it will not negotiate until Assad agrees to leave.

Delegates said efforts to reach an agreed position on the conference were being delayed by pressure from some of the opposition’s Gulf Arab backers for an overhaul of its membership.

“You have Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates pushing to include up to 30 new members in the National Coalition,” a coalition member said on condition of anonymity. “Their goal is to downsize the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence over the group.”

The opposition in Syria is basically a Sunni coalition, many of whose leaders have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.  Although the Gulf Arab states do not really want the Muslim Brotherhood to take over Syria, it or a group with similar goals ultimately will.  FWIW, the Obama Administration has provided a fair amount of support to groups associated with the Muslim Brotherhood over the past couple of year.

While the Shiite Muslim Hezbollah has its hopes and warring plans, the Bible indicates that Lebanon and Syria will change and be allied with other Arab nations.

Such as plan is being actively worked on by supporters of the Sunni Muslim group the Muslim Brotherhood.

Here is some of what the official English-language website of the Muslim Brotherhood teaches about its history and goals (note: the current president of Egypt ran the website below when I first viewed these quotes):

Al-Banna was chiefly responsible for formulating the policies of this association…the idea of universal muslim state was constantly implied due to the association’s focus on Islam. While strongly disapproving of local brands of Nationalism, particularly if they were Western-inspired and secularly-minded, Banna developed his vision of Pan-Islamic Nationalism, insisting that Islam and Nationalism were complementary, especially when the latter operated within the parameter of the Islamic truth, since, for the Muslim Brethren, Islam was of course both religion and state. Then we would also explore his thought of the causes of descend of Islamic society particularly in Egypt. What is the Muslim Brotherhood?
The world’s largest and most influential Islamist movement. The Muslim Brotherhood apparently wants as its top priority a pan-national Islamic caliphate ruled by an Imam. Many Muslims long for the rising up of a leader called the 12th Imam, often referred to as the Imam Mahdi. It will not end up with Spain if I understand certain aspects of Bible prophecy correctly, but the confederation of the final King of the South may go from around Western Sahara and/or Mauritania to Oman (with possible involvement and/or coordination with Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and/or Indonesia).  An Islamic empire is destined to form.

Notice a translation of what some, who are part of it, write that the Muslim Brotherhood wants:

…the Islamic Ummah [nation] can regain its power and be liberated and assume its rightful position which was intended by Allah, as the most exalted nation among men, as the leaders of humanity…

To bring enough Arab nations together, I have felt that some type of “strongman” needed to rise up.  One who Arabs would tend to respect–who might use or not use the title Imam Mahdi.  The time may be now for him to rise up and the Muslim Brotherhood may play an important role.  The Muslim Brotherhood is is the world’s oldest and largest Islamic political group and has been called the “world’s most influential Islamist movement” (http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/2010/11/2010111681527837704.html)–though some new group could also form.

A coming confederation of Islamic lands is something that the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood also is hoping to bring to pass.  This is a goal that will, temporarily, be achieved according to Bible prophecy.

Around the world, thousands marched against the Missouri-headquartered multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation called Monsanto:

Organizers said “March Against Monsanto” protests were held in 52 countries and 436 cities, including Los Angeles where demonstrators waved signs that read “Real Food 4 Real People” and “Label GMOs, It’s Our Right to Know.”

Genetically modified plants are grown from seeds that are engineered to resist insecticides and herbicides, add nutritional benefits or otherwise improve crop yields and increase the global food supply. Most corn, soybean and cotton crops grown in the United States today have been genetically modified. But critics say genetically modified organisms can lead to serious health conditions and harm the environment. The use of GMOs has been a growing issue of contention in recent years, with health advocates pushing for mandatory labeling of genetically modified products…

Protesters in Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina, where Monsanto’s genetically modified soy and grains now command nearly 100% of the market, and the company’s Roundup-Ready chemicals are sprayed throughout the year on fields where cows once grazed. They carried signs saying “Monsanto-Get out of Latin America”

In Portland, thousands of protesters took to Oregon streets. Police estimate about 6,000 protesters took part in Portland’s peaceful march, and about 300 attended the rally in Bend. Other marches were scheduled in Baker City, Coos Bay, Eugene, Grants Pass, Medford, Portland, Prineville and Redmond.

Across the country in Orlando, about 800 people gathered with signs, pamphlets and speeches in front of City Hall. Maryann Wilson of Clermont, Fla., said she learned about Monsanto and genetically modified food by watching documentaries on YouTube.

In order to take full control of the global food chain the world’s largest owner of patents on seeds Monsanto is lobbying, bribing, suing small farmers out of business and altering scientific research, geopolitical analyst F. William Engdahl told RT.

Hundreds of thousands around the world gathered on Saturday in a global move dubbed ‘March Against Monsanto’.

Protesters all across the US joined the march calling for a boycott of Monsanto products, following the Senate’s decision to turn down a bill which requires the labeling of GM food.

RT: What’s wrong with GM food?

William Engdahl: The fundamental problem with GM food that it’s genetically and biologically unstable. There’s no genetic modification known to science and this I have from some of top scientists in the world on this question that’s stable – it’s always mutating. And No.2, all the GM products that are in the human and animal food chain over the last 20 years are modified primarily to do one thing – 80 per cent of all the GM is modified to accept chemicals, the pesticides. Monsanto Roundup being the most prominent of them, which are highly, highly toxic and they’re modified to be resistant to that deadly chemical so that it kills everything inside, except the Monsanto corn or the Monsanto soy beans or what will you. There are many, many risks with GMO crops.

As far as bees go, their population keeps dropping (see Nearly One Third of American Bees Died: Is Famine Coming to the USA?).  Furthermore, there are a lot of unanticipated problems from GMOs.  For example, because of the use of GMO corn, the amount of milkweeds have diminished–hence the herbicide intent of GMOs  has negative side effect.  This in turn has diminished the amount of monarch butterflies as they benefit from milkweed.  Additionally, scientists are combining a variety of animal genes as well as creatures like spiders.  This is not going to end well.  As far as nutritional benefits of GMOs, many of those ‘benefits’ are based upon a lot of assumptions that I do not believe hold up well in the real world and will leave at that for now.

While the supposed intent of GMOs is to increase the food supply and provide crops that are resistant to pesticides, the reality is that the GMO thrust is essentially based upon lust for profits.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.  (1 Timothy 6:10)

The production of GMO crops places massive amounts of the food supply at risk for destruction.  While in nature, there is variety of crops, with GMO-crops there is a uniformity that is unnatural.  This uniformity puts the entire crop at risk as if one plant succumbs to a pesticide, the entire crop is susceptible as well–this can lead to famines.  Paul told Timothy that love of money can cause many sorrows.  Notice that Jesus told of famines were one of the sorrows that would come:

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

Now, well some claim that GMO-crops are resistant to various pests, the reality is that about two years ago, Monsanto learned that its corn that was supposed to be resistant to a root pest was, in fact, susceptible to it (see Pestilence Issues and Genetically-Modified Corn).  The scientists there hope to work around this, but the time will come that disasters and troubles will result in famines and I have long suspected that GMOs would be part of the reason.

About fourteen years ago, I started to get published for my positions against genetically-modified foods (Thiel R. Labeling of genetically modified foods should be a fundamental consumer right. HealthKeepers, 2000; 2 (3):16-19; Thiel R. ANMA’s official position on genetically-modified foods. ANMA Monitor, 1999;3(4)5-8). And since then, more and more information has come to light suggesting dangers to the environment and health related to GMOs.

About two years ago, I warned:

In the “Great Depression” most Americans and Brits had skills in growing food. This is no longer the case. Furthermore, modern crops have gotten more complicated as so many seeds are hybrids that they will not actually grow the type of foods most in the USA and UK are used to having. The coming food problems will also get worse once one or more genetically-modified crops suffers from some type of pestilence. The USA, to cite one example, could lose virtually all of its wheat or corn because of the dependence on genetically modified versions (which is especially true for crops like corn and soy). Prophecy for famines will be fulfilled (Matthew 24:7-8). (From China Buying USA Food, In Depression Will Chinese Eat While Americans & Brits Starve? May 21, 2010)

Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:

15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’” (Ezekiel 5:15-17)

Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword. The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation–this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.

The increasing use of genetically modified organisms for many of the grain crops in the USA is putting parts of humanity at major increased risk of unintended consequences such as famine and disease pestilences. Most of the corn and soy beans produced in the USA are genetically-modified. Soon, much of the wheat will be. Directly and indirectly, the USA and its Anglo-allies will cause most of the problems that it will be experiencing in the next several years.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. (From Super Wheat: Solution or Disaster Awaiting? June 10, 2011)

So, it may be that the Anglo-nations will experience some real hunger as well as disease and/or other pestilences (that could possibly at least partially be triggered by excessive reliance on genetically-modified organisms as part of their agricultural production) that will weaken them enough so that the USA and its Anglo-allies will then be considered attackable by some of their enemies…

Because of sin, greed, and ignorance, America has been into producing genetically-modified foods. These “foods” are genetically identical which makes them susceptible to total elimination via famine-causing pestilential organisms. I have long suspected that the time will come when some type of pestilence will hit America’s genetically-modified grain crops like corn and wreak havoc on the land. Enough so, that this may embolden its enemies to attack Britain and/or the USA to begin the Great Tribulation. (Can the Great Tribulation Begin in 2011, 2012, or 2013? Spring 2011)

Basically, I have long suspected that likely crop failures associated with GMO grains are putting the USA and its Anglo-allies at extreme risk of being destroyed. Most Americans do not like to accept this, but it is nonetheless true.

The following was published as reason ten as to why US President Barack Obama was apocalyptic in my book Barack Obama, Prophecy, and the Destruction of the United States:

Barack Obama broke a campaign pledge about requiring that genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) in foods be labeled (Philpott T. Obama’s broken promise on GMO Food Labeling. Mother Jones, October 6, 2011). And while he at some point in time may change on this, the fact is that he has taken steps to encourage the production and use of GMO “foods” (cf. Isaiah 55:2) (Anderman RH. Obama Deregulates GMO Crops Despite Supreme Court Injunction. Tikkun, June 2, 2011; Huff EA. The Obama administration love affair with GMOs is selling America down the river for agricultural ruin. Natural News, August 21, 2011). Increased reliance on GMOs by the United States puts the nation at major risk for nearly complete crop failures. The Bible warns that famines (Matthew 24:7) and food shortages (Revelation 6:5-6) are coming and Barack Obama has further helped set the stage for this. (Thiel B. Just two months or so after the above edition of the book came out, US President Obama signed what is called the ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ to protect Monsanto from legal action from those who may believe they are harmed from GMO foods–so Monsanto now has legal protection even if its crops kill humans and/or destroy the environment (for details, see H.R. 933 includes pro-GMO provision that some call ‘Monsanto Protection Act’).

The time is coming when the USA will have severe food shortages. And at that same time, the USA may have to provide grain to China and other creditors that it owes when some Americans will be starving. The reliance on genetically-modified grain crops will likely contribute to disaster in the USA. It may even contribute to food inflation.

Yet, Congress and the US President want to provide protection for the company that produces these organisms. Genetically modified organisms are not natural foods.

Thousands of years ago, God inspired one of his prophets to pen the following, which encourages people to eat what is good:

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. (Isaiah 55:2)

Intentionally eating GMOs, in my view, is not good.
