Pope Francis is to address the European parliament tomorrow:

Pope Francis on official visit to European Parliament in November

Parliament’s President Martin Schulz … informed the Conference of Presidents, made up of the leaders of the political groups, that His Holiness Pope Francis has accepted his official invitation to the European Parliament. This invitation was extended by President Schulz during his official visit to the Vatican on 11 October 2013.

The official visit will take place on 25 November 2014 in Strasbourg. On this occasion the Pope will address the Members during a formal session.  http://www.neurope.eu/article/pope-francis-official-visit-european-parliament-november

Here is some of what the website of the European Parliament says about itself:

Directly elected by EU voters every 5 years, members of the European Parliament (MEPs) represent the people. Parliament is one of the EU’s main law-making institutions, along with the Council of the European Union (‘the Council’).

The European Parliament has three main roles:

  • debating and passing European laws, with the Council
  • scrutinising other EU institutions, particularly the Commission, to make sure they are working democratically
  • debating and adopting the EU’s budget, with the Council. …

Under the Lisbon Treaty, the range of policies covered by the new ordinary legislative procedure has increased, giving Parliament more power to influence the content of laws in areas including agriculture, energy policy, immigration and EU funds.

Parliament must also give its permission for other important decisions, such as allowing new countries to join the EU. …

Parliament adopts the EU’s annual budget with the Council of the European Union.

Parliament has a committee that monitors how the budget is spent, and every year passes judgement on the Commission’s handling of the previous year’s budget.

Composition

The number of MEPs for each country is roughly proportionate to its population. No country can have fewer than 6 or more than 96 and the total number cannot exceed 751 (750 plus the President). MEPs are grouped by political affiliation, not by nationality.

Could Pope Francis wish to push his ecumenical agenda, his inter-faith agenda, and/or or his economic agenda before the European Parliament.  I believe that he wishes to and we will see how much of that will be reported.

The Bible warns about an unfaithful church located on a city of seven hills that is too involved in the politics of this world:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.  5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. …

18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:1-10)

While there is nothing wrong, of itself, to speak before the European Parliament, Pope Francis’ agenda is consistent with the one warned in the end related to the end-time Mystery Babylon the Great.

Speaking of Babylon and the pontiff, it may be of interest to note that the building that Pope Francis expects to be speaking in shows similarities to the unfinished Tower of Babel from the Old Testament:

Again, there is nothing wrong simply speaking in that building, but if the agenda is similar to those who built the original Tower of Babel (which to, at least, a degree it is), this hopefully will get people to consider that where this is ending up is not where God would want His supporters to (cf. Revelation 13:1-10).

As far as the connection between what is going on in Europe and the ancient Tower of Babel, notice the following European poster from several years ago:

The trappings and the agenda that are going on do align with the type of political power that the Bible warns about.  Notice also the following:

Europe has many ties to the Beast and the woman who rides it and this is reflected in official European coinage and art.

The Bible itself warns about a religious system based out of the city of seven hills that rides the European Beast power.  Tomorrow, Pope Francis is going to attempt to stir the Europeans in a certain direction.  And, based upon his past comments, this direction would NOT seem to be one that the Bible endorses.

COGWA on Zephaniah, but what about protection?

COGwriter

One of the websites of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association (COGWA) had the following about the Book of Zephaniah:

Main theme

The theme of the book is the Day of the Lord. Despite the fact that Zephaniah warns Judah of impending doom, the prophecy is dual, and the major fulfillment of his prophecy is yet future. Although the prophet’s pronouncements focus on Jerusalem, nations nearby (Assyria, Ethiopia, Moab and Ammon) and all other nations of the earth are included in the warnings (Zephaniah 1:2-3; 3:6, 8, 20).

This book points forward to the dramatic and earthshaking events that will unfold before the return of Christ to the earth (1:9, 15-18).

When these major prophecies come to pass, it will be better to be “hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger” (2:3) than to be in the midst of what occurs when God intervenes and brings righteous judgment on mankind.

God’s indignation will be poured out on all nations, and none will escape: “My determination is to gather the nations to My assembly of kingdoms, to pour on them My indignation, all My fierce anger; all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy” (3:8, emphasis added throughout). God’s anger will be felt worldwide.

A remnant is saved

For those who are willing to seek and submit to God, God promises protection during a period of unprecedented destruction. This time of Great Tribulation was also prophesied by Daniel (Daniel 12:1) and later by Jesus Christ: “And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved [alive]; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:22)…

Here is one way to outline the book of Zephaniah:

The Day of the Lord (chapter 1).

  1. Prophecies concerning the entire earth (1:1-3).
  2. Prophecies regarding Judah and Jerusalem (1:4-9).
  3. God’s wrath on rebellious mankind (1:10-18).

Nations warned of coming judgment (chapters 2-3:7).

  1. Repentant meek are spared (2:1-3).
  2. Surrounding nations warned of impending punishment (2:4-15).
  3. Entire earth to be punished (3:1-7).

Ultimate deliverance: God’s people restored (3:8-20).

  1. A pure language taught (3:8-9).
  2. God dwells with His people (3:10-20).

Zephaniah is one of the books of the Bible that places the destruction of end-time Assyria with that of end-time Babylon (Zephaniah 2:13-15; see also Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

But a point that I would like to emphasize related to Zephaniah is that it is not simply those that are meek who get protected, but those who truly uphold God’s justice and properly gather together (see the video Zephaniah’s ‘Gather Together’ Prophecy). Those Christians who are promised end time protection are those that are truly Philadelphian Christians (Revelation 3:7-13). The Bible teaches that not all Christians will be protected at the time of the end (see also Revelation 12:14-17).

Notice some of those scriptures as well as the some in Zephaniah:

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. (Revelation 3:7-12)

14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:14-17)

1 Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together,
O undesirable nation,
2 Before the decree is issued,
Or the day passes like chaff,
Before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you,
Before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you!
3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the Lord’s anger. (Zephaniah 2:1-3)

So, it is those that will gather together BEFORE a decree will be issued and who are Philadelphia Christians that are promised protection. It is those who hold fast to the priorities and work of Philadelphia by placing their proper emphasis on doing the work (Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20) as well as live as Philadelphia Christians will be protected, while others who follow Jesus will not be.

Should the Church Still Try to Place its Top Priority on Proclaiming the Gospel or Did Herbert W. Armstrong Change that Priority for the Work? Some say the Church should mainly feed the flock now as that is what Herbert W. Armstrong reportedly said. Is that what he said? Is that what the Bible says? What did Paul and Herbert W. Armstrong expect from evangelists?
The Philadelphia Church Era was predominant circa 1933 A.D. to 1986 A.D. The old Radio Church of God and old Worldwide Church of God, now basically the most faithful in the Church of God, like the beliefs held of the Continuing Church of God.
The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present. The Laodiceans are non-Philadelphians who mainly descended from the old WCG or its offshoots.  They do not properly understand the work or biblical prophecies and will face the Great Tribulation if they do not repent.

Clement, Rome, and Claims

COGwriter

November 23rd is the day Catholics have declared as the day for “Saint Clement I.”

There is an individual named Clement in the Bible. He is mentioned one time. Here is the only passage that mentions him:

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:2-3).

The above was written by the Apostle Paul, but historians are divided on where it was written from (Corinth, Ephesus, Rome, and Caesarea have all been speculated).

This shows that Paul knew someone named Clement. Clement, therefore knew Paul, and was with Paul when he wrote this letter. It can probably be reasonably implied that Clement probably knew others in Philippi. And based on Paul’s writings, it can be concluded that Paul, at that time, considered that particular Clement to be a Christian. It is probably logical to conclude that Clement met with Paul on multiple occasions and probably, like the others, assisted him to some degree.

What it does not show is that Clement was to be the leader of those in Rome or ordained by Peter. Clement simply was one of many who knew and probably assisted the Apostle Paul. The lack of emphasis/preeminence in Paul’s writings would seem to suggest that Clement could not have been the one to become the “bishop of Rome” and the successor of Peter and Paul in 67 A.D. or perhaps later–there are different lists for Clement. It should also be noted that if Paul did write his Epistle to the Philippians in Rome (as many Roman Catholic scholars maintain), one would think that Clement would be mentioned other writings from Paul if Clement was to have preeminence–but instead he is not mentioned anywhere else in any New Testament writing.

Whether or not this is the same individual named Clement that many Roman Catholics consider to succeed Peter cannot be determined from the passages in Philippians. Roman Catholic scholars seem divided on this matter, though the general consensus seems to be that the Clement of Rome is not the same one that Paul referred to. Here are some statements from The Catholic Encyclopedia:

Origen identifies Pope Clement with St. Paul’s fellow-labourer, Phil., iv, 3, and 80 do Eusebius, Epiphanius, and Jerome — but this Clement was probably a Philippian. In the middle of the nineteenth century it was the custom to identity the pope with the consul of 95, T. Flavius Clemens, who was martyred by his first cousin, the Emperor Domitian, at the end of his consulship. But the ancients never suggest this, and the pope is said to have lived on till the reign of Trajan (Chapman J. Transcribed by Gerard Haffner. Pope St. Clement I. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume IV. Copyright © 1908 by Robert Appleton Company. Online Edition Copyright © 2003 by K. Knight. Nihil Obstat. Remy Lafort, Censor. Imprimatur. +John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York).

Thus, the Clement mentioned in the Bible is probably not the Clement of Rome. But again, this is not certain.

If Clement was the ruler of all Christendom during the time he was claimed to be, then it seems odd that the Apostle John failed to mention him or his leadership in any of the books that he wrote after the beginning of Clement’s alleged pontificate (1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and the Book of Revelation). Since John encouraged Christians to be faithful, it would seem that he would have somehow suggested that there would be a succession of faithful leaders to follow in Rome. Instead, he focused on the leadership of the church in the region of Asia Minor (Revelation 1-3).

John was the last of the original apostles to die and should have known who the leaders of the true church were around the time of his death (around 100 A.D.). And there is no reason to believe that he would have been at a lower status of Clement who was not ordained directly by Christ, nor (see Appendix A) a pope, and nor probably even a bishop.

Some Significant Roman Catholic Teachings About Clement

Here is some of what is claimed about Clement:

4. CLEMENT I, ST. (88-97)…He was among the first baptized by St. Peter…Clement was the one to introduce the liturgical vestments into the sacred functions and the use of the word Amen. He appointed seven notaries, one for each ecclesiastical area of Rome, to edit and file all information regarding martyred Christians…He can be considered the first pope to have abdicated (Lopes A. The Popes: The lives of the pontiffs through 2000 years of history. Futura Edizoni, Roma, 1997, p. 2).

It seems impossible that Clement could have appointed seven notaries as the church in Rome then was not large or did not have a major staff. Neither the Bible or any of the earliest historical writings give any hint that Peter baptized Clement—thus that claim appears to have been a later fabrication. Furthermore, if there were seven notaries with Clement, then at minimum one would think that they would have preserve at least who the original “bishops of Rome” were, however they apparently did not (as there are no writings from any of these seven preserved and they allegedly would have been appointed to make writings that were to have been preserved).

The first list was apparently composed by Hegesippus around 155 A.D., and we have no copy of that preserved until Epiphanius claimed to have cited Hegesippus. The actual first known list was actually from Irenaeus around 180 A.D. and it contains no details about the early bishops.

The Catholic Encyclopedia teaches this about Clement:

Now Linus and Cletus had each twelve years attributed to them in the list. If Hippolytus found Cletus doubled by an error (Cletus XII, Anacletus XII), the accession of Clement would appear to be thirty-six years after the death of the Apostles. As this would make it almost impossible for Clement to have been their contemporary, it may have caused Hippolytus to shift him to an earlier position. Further, St. Epiphanius says (loc. cit. ): “Whether he received episcopal ordination from Peter in the life-time of the Apostles, and declined the office, for he says in one of his epistles ‘I retire, I depart, let the people of God be in peace’, (for we have found this set down in certain Memoirs), or whether he was appointed by the Bishop Cletus after he had succeeded the Apostles, we do not clearly know.” The “Memoirs” were certainly those of Hegesippus. It seems unlikely that he is appealed to only for the quotation from the Epistle, c. liv; probably Epiphanius means that Hegesippus stated that Clement had been ordained by Peter and declined to be bishop, but twenty-four years later really exercised the office for nine years. Epiphanius could not reconcile these two facts; Hippolytus seems to have rejected the latter…The Church of Corinth had been led by a few violent spirits into a sedition against its rulers. No appeal seems to have been made to Rome, but a letter was sent in the name of the Church of Rome by St. Clement to restore peace and unity. He begins by explaining that his delay in writing has been caused by the sudden calamities which, one after another, had just been falling upon the Roman Church. The reference is clearly to the persecution of Domitian…There is little intentional dogmatic teaching in the Epistle, for it is almost wholly hortatory. A passage on the Holy Trinity is important. Clement uses the Old Testament affirmation “The Lord liveth”, substituting the Trinity thus: “As God liveth, and the Lord Jesus Christ liveth and the Holy Spirit — the faith and hope of the elect, so surely he that performeth”, etc…The Epistle is in the name of the Church of Rome but the early authorities always ascribe it to Clement. Dionysius, Bishop of Corinth, wrote c. 170 to the Romans in Pope Soter’s time: “To-day we kept the holy day, the Lord’s day, and on it we read your letter- and we shall ever have it to give us instruction, even as the former one written through Clement” (Eusebius, Hist. Eccl., IV, xxx) (Chapman J. Transcribed by Gerard Haffner. Pope St. Clement I. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume IV. Copyright © 1908 by Robert Appleton Company. Online Edition Copyright © 2003 by K. Knight. Nihil Obstat. Remy Lafort, Censor. Imprimatur. +John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York).

Thus, Catholic scholars admit that some felt that Clement succeeded Peter, while others do not believe that. There is simply no proof of this matter.

Clement could not have come with liturgical vestments as they did not exist that early. The Catholic Encyclopedia admits this, regarding the time of Stephen 1 (254-257):

In his days the vestments worn by the clergy at Mass and other church services did not differ in shape or material from those ordinarily worn by the laity (Mann H. Transcribed by Kenneth M. Caldwell. Pope St. Stephen I. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume XIV. Copyright © 1912 by Robert Appleton Company. Online Edition Copyright © 2003 by K. Knight. Nihil Obstat, July 1, 1912. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York).

Hence the statements above regarding Clement’s rules on these matters is also false. Clement is actually both a problem and a key-link for the Roman Church and its claims to supremacy over all of Christendom. He is a problem, specifically, because he is considered the key-link establishing the supremacy of the bishop of Rome. And this key-link is very, very tenuous (he is also a problem as his statement about God and the Lord living suggests that the Holy Spirit is somehow different, and that is not a trinitarian view–please see the article Binitarian View: One God, Two Beings from Before the Beginning).

Furthermore, most scholars believe that there were no bishops of Rome at the time of Clement’s alleged reign. Notice this admission from a Roman Catholic scholar:

Admittedly the Catholic position, that bishops are the successors of the apostles by divine institution, remains far from easy to establish…The first problem has to do with the notion that Christ ordained apostles as bishops…The apostles were missionaries and founders of churches; there is no evidence, nor is it at all likely, that any one of them ever took up permanent residence in a particular church as its bishop…The letter of the Romans to the Corinthians, known as I Clement, which dates to about the year 96, provides good evidence that about 30 years after the death of St. Paul the church of Corinth was being led by a group of presbyters, with no indication of a bishop with authority over the whole local church…Most scholars are of the opinion that the church of Rome would most probably have also been led at that time by a group of presbyters…There exists a broad consensus among scholars, including most Catholic ones, that such churches as Alexandria, Philippi, Corinth and Rome most probably continued to be led for some time by a college of presbyters, and that only in the second century did the threefold structure of become generally the rule, with a bishop, assisted by presbyters, presiding over each local church (Sullivan F.A. From Apostles to Bishops: the development of the episcopacy in the early church. Newman Press, Mahwah (NJ), 2001, pp. 13,14,15).

Clement’s Letter?

Essentially, many Roman Catholics believe that a late 1st century letter to the Corinthians shows that Clement felt that he had the authority over all other Christian churches. And thus, this is the earliest proof that in fact, the cathedra went to the bishops of Rome and therefore (according to this line of reasoning) is still there today.

The first problem is that the letter never says any individual sent it. So even if it was from Clement, he apparently did not feel he himself had what Catholics now call the cathedra (the ecclesiastical chair or authority), for it was unsigned. The second problem is that there is no indication that the Corinthians were in any way writing to Clement. And the third is that recent Catholic scholarship admits that “I Clement” does not establish the primacy of the Roman Church:

In the past, Catholic writers have interpreted this intervention as an early exercise of Roman primacy, but now it is generally recognized as the kind of exhortation one church could address another without any claim to authority over it…I Clement certainly does not support the theory that before the apostles died, they appointed one man as bishop in each of the churches they founded. This letter witnesses rather to the fact that in the last decade of the first century, the collegial ministry of a group of presbyters…was still maintained in the Pauline church of Corinth. This was most likely also the case in the church in Rome at this period (Sullivan F.A. From Apostles to Bishops: the development of the episcopacy in the early church. Newman Press, Mahwah (NJ), 2001, pp. 91,101).

During the time that Clement was allegedly bishop of Rome, Catholic historians reported that John was taken to Rome from Ephesus, then suddenly exiled to Patmos, by Emperor Domitian (Tertullian. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight), and, “after the tyrant’s death, he returned from the isle of Patmos to Ephesus” (Eusebius. Church History. Book III, Chapter 23). About this time, a schism occurred in Corinth and someone apparently decided to contact the Christians in Rome for assistance (possibly because John may have been in Rome then or possibly since one of that congregation happen to have been traveling in that direction). The letter response that was sent said it was delayed:

[b]ecause of the sudden and repeated misfortunes and reverses which have happened to us (The Letter of the Romans to the Corinthians commonly known as First Clement. Verse 1. Holmes MW, ed. As translated in The Apostolic Fathers Greek Texts and English Translations. Baker Books, Grand Rapids, 3rd printing 2004, pp. 28-29).

It is logical to conclude that these misfortunes probably included John’s exile. Although many Catholics suggest the response sent is definitive proof that Rome was the ruling Church, the letter actually refers to its contents only as “our advice”, does not list any author, and does not otherwise prove anything about Roman authority. Regarding this letter one Catholic scholar has written:

Most scholars are of the opinion that the church of Rome would most probably be have also been led at that time by a group of presbyters (Sullivan F.A. From Apostles to Bishops: the development of the episcopacy in the early church. Newman Press, Mahwah (NJ), 2001, p. 15).

If this letter from the Corinthians was sent to Rome because John and others were there, it simply shows that some in Corinth were trying to contact the leadership of the Church. Also, it seems logical that those in the Church at Rome may have decided that since John had been exiled, they should simply respond with their opinion.

The Continuing Church of God is pleased to announce our latest video on our Bible New Prophecy YouTube channel:

Was Jesus the Christ married?  Did He have two children as some claim the so-called “Lost Gospel” teaches?  Was He married to Mary Magdalene as the Da Vinci Code and others have stated? How many gospels are there?  Are the supposed ‘historical records’ that Jesus was married, simply false?  When were the gnostic gospel accounts written?  Did Polycarp of Smyrna list any of the extra or so-called “lost gospels” in his letter?  Does the Bible clearly contract the assertions of the book “The Lost Gospel”?

George Washington on giving thanks

COGwriter

November 27 is the date for the USA holiday of Thanksgiving this year. The Smithsonian Institute said the following about it:

The first Thanksgiving service known to be held by Europeans in North America occurred on May 27, 1578 in Newfoundland, although earlier Church-type services were probably held by Spaniards in La Florida. However, for British New England, some historians believe that the Popham Colony in Maine conducted a Thanksgiving service in 1607 (see Sources: Greif, 208-209; Gould, and Hatch). In the same year, Jamestown colonists gave thanks for their safe arrival, and another service was held in 1610 when a supply ship arrived after a harsh winter.

Berkley Hundred settlers held a Thanksgiving service in accordance with their charter which stated that the day of their arrival in Virginia should be observed yearly as a day of Thanksgiving, but within a few years an Indian uprising ended further services (Dabney). Thus British colonists held several Thanksgiving services in America before the Pilgrim’s celebration in 1621.

The Pilgrims, with a puritanical rejection of public religious display, held a non-religious Thanksgiving feast, aside from saying grace. In fact, they seem to have used the three days for feasting, playing games, and even drinking liquor.

In 1623, the Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation, Massachusetts, held another day of Thanksgiving. As a drought was destroying their crops, colonists prayed and fasted for relief; the rains came a few days later. And not long after, Captain Miles Standish arrived with staples and news that a Dutch supply ship was on its way. Because of all this good fortune, colonists held a day of Thanksgiving and prayer on June 30. This 1623 festival appears to have been the origin of our Thanksgiving Day because it combined a religious and social celebration.

Festivals of Thanksgiving were observed sporadically on a local level for more than 150 years. They tended to be autumn harvest celebrations. But in 1789, Elias Boudinot, Massachusetts, member of the House of Representatives, moved that a day of Thanksgiving be held to thank God for giving the American people the opportunity to create a Constitution to preserve their hard won freedoms. A Congressional Joint Committee approved the motion, and informed President George Washington. On October 3, 1789, the President proclaimed that the people of the United States observe “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer” on Thursday, the 26th of November.

It also had the following proclamation from George Washington:

Transcription of George Washington’s Proclamation:

By the President of the United States of America–

A Proclamation

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor–and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their Joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be–That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks–for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation–for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war–for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed–for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions–to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually–to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed–to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord–To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and Us–and generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

The Bible often tells that people should give thanks to God. And while an American holiday should not necessarily be needed for such, people seem to need to be reminded that they should thank God for His many blessings.

Those blessings include not only His creation and our physical blessings, but His loving plan of salvation that will offer salvation to all that ever lived.

al-Shabab kills 28 non-Muslims in Kenya

Al-Shabaab Flag

COGwriter

The Somalia-based terrorist group al-Shabaab has killed again in Kenya:

November 22, 2014

Gunmen from the Somali militant group al-Shabab say they have attacked a bus in northern Kenya, killing 28 people.

The bus was travelling to the capital, Nairobi, when it was stopped in Mandera county, not far from the Somali border.

Gunmen separated out non-Muslims by asking passengers to read from the Koran, officials and witnesses said. Those who failed were then shot in the head.

Al-Shabab has carried out a series of attacks in Kenya since 2011.  http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-30157581

November 22, 2014

Police in northeastern Kenya say al-Shabab gunmen have ambushed a bus and killed 28 non-Muslims who were singled out from the 60 passengers on the bus.

Somalia’s al-Shabab Islamists have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was retaliation for recent raids Kenyan security forces carried out on mosques in Mombasa.

Authorities say the militants seized the bus Saturday 50 kilometers, or 31 miles, from the town of Mandera near Kenya’s border with Somalia.

The White House condemned what it called a horrific attack. It said the United States stands with Kenya to counter the threat of terrorism, and it affirmed its commitment to work with Kenyans to stop such atrocities.

Kenyan troops have gone into neighboring Somalia as part of an African Union force helping Somalia put down an al-Shabab insurgency.

The al-Qaida-linked group wants to turn Somalia into a fiercely conservative Islamic state. It once controlled most of central and southern Somalia but has steadily lost ground in recent years to government and African Union forces.

Kenya has been hit by a series of gun and bomb attacks blamed on al-Shabab since Kenya sent troops into Somalia in 2011.  http://www.voanews.com/content/kenya-violence/2530389.html

Al-Shabaab is considered to be a terrorist organization, and showed it one again today. In the past it has made various threats against the West, including some specifically against the UK (see Somalian-linked terrorists warn Britain).  The USA claimed responsibility for killing the a prior leader of al-Shabaab,   Ahmed Abdi Godane, in a US air strike in September (see Obama vows to dismantle Islamic State; Australia to bomb; Al-Shabaab leader dead).  But that has not stopped them.

While I was in Nairobi, Kenya last March/April, al-Shabaab committed a terrorist act there and several were killed.

From a Church of God perspective, al-Shabaab creates difficulties in Kenya as it has heightened security and safety concerns in Kenya.  While I am not aware that the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) had any members directly affected by this latest bombing, we do have hundreds of members in Kenya, as well as members in neighboring Tanzania.  The problems caused by al-Shabaab were factors in interfering with the travel of CCOG members into Kenya for the Feast of Tabernacles last month.  Because of that, most from Tanzania had to stay in that country and a last minute Feast site over there had to be arranged.

As far as al-Shabaab itself, you may have noticed that the flag that al-Shabab uses (shown at the beginning of this post) and one used by the Islamic State are the same. The flag itself appears to be related to Islamic prophecy.

There are various Islamic views on as Islamic leader, sometimes called the Imam Mahdi rising up (who could be the King of the South of Daniel 11:40-43). Here is one that suggests he does after Syria has problems:

Traditions have been reported mentioning the signs for the time of the appearance of the Imam who will arise (qa’im), peace be on him, and the events which will take place before his appearance, together with the indications and features of it. Among them are: The Sufyani will come out in revolt; the Hasanid will be killed; the Abbasids will dispute over worldly kingdom; there will be an eclipse of the sun in the middle of the month of Ramadan; there will be an eclipse of the moon at the end of that month in contrast to ordinary happenings; the land will be swallowed up at al-Bayda’; it will be swallowed in the east-it will be swallowed up in the west; the sun will stay still from the time of its decline to the middle of the time for the afternoon prayer; it will rise from the west; a pure soul (nafs zakiyya) will be killed in the outskirts of Kufa with seventy righteous men; a Hashimite will be slaughtered between the corner (of the Ka’ba) and the station of Abraham); the wall of the mosque of Kufa will be destroyed; black standards will advance from Khurasan; al-Yamani will come out in revolt; al-Maghribi will appear in Egypt and take possession of it from Syria; the Turk will occupy the region of al-Jazira; the Byzantines will occupy Ramla; the star will appear in the east giving light just like the moon gives light; then (the new moon) will bend until its two tips almost meet; a colour will appear in the sky and spread to its horizons; a fire will appear for a long time in the east remaining in the air for three or seven days; the Arabs will throw off the reins and take possession of their land, throwing out the foreign authority; the people of Egypt will kill their ruler and destroy Syria; and three standards will dispute over it (Syria)…

The Abbasids will dispute; a voice will call from the sky; one of the villages of Syria called al-Jabiyya will be swallowed up; the Turks will occupy the region of al-Jazira; the Byzantines will attack al-Ramla; at that time there will be much conflict throughout the land until Syria is destroyed.

(Kitab al Irshad Chapter: The Twelfth Imam (Peace be on him) Page (s): 541 – 548 Published by Tehrike Tersile Qura’n. Contributed by Br. Ali Abbas, abbas@seas.gwu.edu http://www.al-islam.org/masoom/bios/12thimam.html viewed 7/22/12)

But, it should be noted that another Islamic view somewhat differs with this as it states that Damascus will be the Mahdi’s capital (other Islamists have stated that Jerusalem will be the capital):

Mahdi will be very just and his capital will be Damascus. (Who Is Imam al-Mahdi? http://www.islamicweb.com/history/mahdi.htm viewed 07/02/14)

A flag is considered to be a ‘standard.’ Merriam-Webster defines a standard to include: “an organization flag carried by a mounted or motorized military unit.” The black flag that the Islamic State, al-Shabaab, and some of the other Jihadists use certainly would seem to qualify here. It is very likely that is probably part of the reason why they use a black flag.

Those using that flag basically believe that they will fight militarily until an Islamic empire is established. The USA, UK, and others are opposed to that.

Yet, it appears that the USA and others in the West are getting closer to accepting the idea that some type of regional confederation of Islamic nations is what should come after USA bombings (see US Military Chairman scales down threat from Islamic State and seems to be advocating the rise of the King of the South and Kissinger tells of New World Order, Cameron concerned about ISIS terrorism, while Obama tells of ‘no strategy’ related to bombing Islamic State raises some concerns). Bombing will not bring true peace (watch also the new video Middle East Peace? When?) nor will an Islamic confederation.

Some of what groups like Al-Shabab want will come to pass per Daniel 11:40-43 and Ezekiel 30:2-8, but it will not end up well according to those same passages of scripture.

Benghazi report out: Might it help Hillary Clinton?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2014

COGwriter

A new report on the Benghazi incident came out:

November 22, 2014

As members of Congress slipped out of town Friday for a long Thanksgiving break, they left behind a report on Benghazi that might seem surprising – coming as it did from the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee.

In essence, the committee sums up its two-year investigation of the attack on Sept. 11, 2012, which killed US ambassador Christopher Stevens, a foreign service officer, and two CIA contractors, by citing fog-of-war circumstances rather than politically-motivated manipulation by the Obama administration in the immediate aftermath.

Among the report’s major findings:
The CIA ensured sufficient security for CIA facilities in Benghazi … and found no evidence that there was either a stand down order or denial of available air support.

• There was no intelligence failure prior to the attacks.

• A mixed group of individuals, including those affiliated with al Qaeda, participated in the attacks … although the Committee finds that the intelligence was and remains conflicting about the identities, affiliations, and motivations of the attackers.

• The Committee found intelligence to support CIA’s initial assessment that the attacks had evolved out of a protest in Benghazi over an anti-Islam YouTube video that was roiling the region; but it also found contrary intelligence, which ultimately proved to be the correct intelligence. The CIA only changed its initial assessment about the protest … two days after Ambassador Susan Rice spoke.

• The process used to generate the talking points the committee asked for – and which were used for Ambassador Rice’s public appearances – was flawed.

• The Committee found no evidence that any officer was intimidated, wrongly forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement, or otherwise kept from speaking to Congress, or polygraphed because of their presence in Benghazi.

In the aftermath of the attacks, Republicans criticized the Obama administration and its then-secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is expected to run for president in 2016. People in and out of government have alleged that a CIA response team was ordered to “stand down” after the State Department compound came under attack, that a military rescue was nixed, that officials intentionally downplayed the role of al Qaeda figures in the attack, and that Ambassador Stevens and the CIA were involved in a secret operation to spirit weapons out of Libya and into the hands of Syrian rebels. None of that is true, according to the report.

Committee members said they had “endeavored to make the facts and conclusions within this report widely and publicly available so that the American public can separate the actual facts from the swirl of rumors and unsupported allegations.” …

“The Select Committee on Benghazi received the Intelligence committee’s report on the Benghazi terrorist attack, and has reviewed it along with other committee reports and materials as the investigation proceeds,” spokesman Jamal Ware said in a statement. “It will aid the Select Committee’s comprehensive investigation to determine the full facts of what happened in Benghazi, Libya before, during and after the attack and contribute toward our final, definitive accounting of the attack on behalf of Congress.”  http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Foreign-Policy/2014/1122/Will-Benghazi-report-quell-conspiracy-theories-Not-likely

WASHINGTON (AP) — A two-year investigation by the Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee has found that the CIA and the military acted properly in responding to the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and asserted no wrongdoing by Obama administration appointees.

Debunking a series of persistent allegations hinting at dark conspiracies, the investigation of the politically charged incident determined that there was no intelligence failure, no delay in sending a CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue, and no evidence the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria.  …

In the aftermath of the attacks, Republicans criticized the Obama administration and its then-secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is expected to run for president in 2016. http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_26987182/house-intel-panel-debunks-many-benghazi-theories

Hillary Clinton was US Secretary of State at the time of the Benghazi attack.  In her book, Hard Choices. Hillary Clinton basically passed the blame on to others as well as the general risk of being a State Department employee.

While Hillary Clinton’s account of what happened differed in certain ways from the latest report on Benghazi, it appears, to me at least, that this latest report helps open the door for Hillary Clinton should she decide to run for the office of President of the United States.  In my view, she can simply state that since she is a member of the Democratic party and a Republican-led House Intelligence Committee essentially absolved her of any culpability, that there is no reasonable basis for anyone to bring this up related to her role.

And for her supporters this will be sufficient, and it may also be sufficient for others who have not been sure about whether to support her possible candidacy.

Some are not satisfied with the latest Benghazi report and have called for further investigation:

November 22, 2014

A leading Republican wants to expand the House investigation into the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack by adding a Senate probe, as a new House Intelligence Committee report Friday concluded that the initial CIA assessment found no demonstrations prior to the assault and a primary purpose of the CIA operation in eastern Libya was to track the movement of weapons to Syria.  …

Referring to the House Select committee Chairman, and the Democratic ranking member, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, said the current House investigation should be expanded.

“(Republican) Trey Gowdy and (Democrat) Elijah Cummings have done a good job,” he said. “I can’t imagine the U.S. Senate not wanting to be a part of a joint select committee. We’ll bootstrap to what you’ve done, but we want to be part of discussion,” Graham told Fox News. “What I would suggest to (incoming Senate majority leader) Mitch McConnell is to call up Speaker Boehner and say ‘Listen, we want to be part of this’.”

Graham, along with his two Republican colleagues, Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, have been outspoken advocates of a special investigation, because they say then-acting director of the CIA Mike Morell misled them about his role in crafting the so-called media talking points that blamed an opportunistic protest gone awry for the assault.

“Number one, Mike Morrell misled three senators,” Graham said of their November 2012 meeting on Capitol Hill, where Morell accompanied then UN Ambassador Susan Rice to explain her flawed explanation on national television five days after the attack.

“I think it’s important that for future CIA personnel to understand, that if you come to Congress and you’re asked a question and you give a deceptive answer, you tell half the story, not the entire story, you play word games, it will follow you and will be unacceptable,” Graham said.  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/11/22/leading-republican-wants-senate-to-join-house-probe-benghazi-attack/

But the focus on the above does not appear to be Hillary Clinton.  Therefore, she may come out better politically-speaking on the Benghazi matter than many of her critics have suggested.

What might any of this have to do with prophecy?  Hillary Clinton is considering running again to become President of the United States.

A female presidency can partially fulfill a prophecy in Isaiah 3:12:

As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.

Ever since Margaret Thatcher was prime minister of the United Kingdom, I have felt that it is likely that the USA would end up with a female president or at least a highly influential woman in a top level federal government job. As it turns out, the four remaining predominantly British-descended nations (the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) all have had not only queens (they shared the same ones), but all have already had a woman in the office of prime minister. The prime minister is the chief executive official in a parliamentary system of governance.

Since the physically territorial and other blessings affected the descendents of Ephraim (the British-descended nations ) first, it would seem that certain passages of scripture, such as Isaiah 3:12 discussing female rule, would also affect them first, with others affecting the end time descendants of Manasseh (the USA) later (see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel).

While the U.S. does not have a parliamentary form of governance with a prime minister, it does have a chief executive official who fills of office of president. And the U.S. has never has a female as its president. Hillary Clinton has repeatedly expressed interest in that job.

The latest report on Benghazi might be a factor in Hillary Clinton possibly be becoming the President of the United States.

VOA: Homosexual evangelicals claim Bible supports their unions

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

COGwriter

Homosexual evangelical Protestants are claiming that the Bible does not condemn their lifestyles and ‘marriages’:

Gay Evangelicals Argue That Bible Does Not Condemn Homosexuality

November 21, 2014

WASHINGTON—It looked like a typical evangelical service, except for the same-sex couples in pews: a man leaning his head on another man’s shoulder, a woman with her arm around her female partner.

They were among the several hundred gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Christians who recently gathered at the National City Christian Church in Washington for a meeting of The Reformation Project.

The group was founded by Matthew Vines, who grew up in Wichita, Kansas, after an hour-long YouTube testimonial he posted two years ago about being Christian and gay went viral.

He said the aim is to show that “there is a path to both affirming the full authority of the Bible and affirming same-sex relationships.”

Most evangelical Christians believe the Bible unequivocally condemns homosexuality. The Book of Leviticus calls male-male sex “detestable,” while in the Book of Romans, one of Jesus’ apostles, Paul, condemns men who commit “shameless acts” with other men.

But Vines said homosexuality was seen differently in the ancient world, and believes these passages are about lasciviousness, and do not apply to loving same-sex couples. …

Vines also argues the traditional teaching is wrong because it has failed in its objective – it has not stopped homosexuality and it has caused much suffering among Christians with same-sex attractions.

But critics argue he is reinterpreting scripture to justify his own sexual orientation. http://www.voanews.com/content/gay-evangelicals-argue-bible-does-not-condemn-homosexuality/2528829.html

The nonsensical, anti-biblical, arguments by homosexual advocates is not unexpected, though it is clearly wrong.  The idea that “the traditional teaching is wrong because it has failed in its objective – it has not stopped homosexuality and it has caused much suffering among Christians with same-sex attractions” is distorted and absurd.

The Bible warns against idolatry, fornication, murder, stealing, and adultery as well, and people violate those prohibitions, so is that supposed to mean that those admonitions are also not be be followed.  The Bible warns that sins hurt the sinner and that those who practice such sins are deserving of death.

Interestingly, to me at least, Voice of America (VOA) actually had a side-bar insert with the following scriptures:

Biblical passages that mention homosexuality:

Leviticus 18:22 –  Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

Leviticus 20:13 – If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.  They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Romans 1:24-27 – Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.  They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is forever praised.  Amen.  Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts.  Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.  In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another.  Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

I Corinthians 6:9 – Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.

1 Timothy 1:10 – For the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers – and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.

And while I would have added others (and have later in this post), even those VOA showed demonstrate that the Bible is opposed to homosexuality.

In June, the legislative body of the Presbyterian Church in the USA declared that homosexual ‘marriage’ was Christian, despite what Jesus and the rest of the Bible teach on homosexuality and on marriage (see Presbyterian Church Declares Homosexual Marriage ‘Christian’).

In the USA itself, more and more states (normally through activist judges) have legalized homosexual marriage and have overturned laws against it. Here is Wikipedia’s update on that:

Same-sex marriages are recognized by the United States federal government and granted by 34 states; the District of Columbia; select local jurisdictions in Kansas and Missouri; and 11 Native American tribal jurisdictions. In addition, Missouri recognizes same-sex marriages established in other jurisdictions. Several hundred marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples in Michigan and Arkansas between the time their bans were struck down by federal or state courts and when those rulings were stayed. (Viewed 11/21/14)

The increased legalization of something opposed by the Bible does not bode well for the USA.

Perhaps it should be mentioned that a study out this week shows that homosexual couples are more violent with each other than heterosexual couples:

November 18, 2014

A study in the US suggests that same-sex relationships suffer higher levels of domestic violence than heterosexual ones. …by the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago – a review of data from four earlier studies, involving 30,000 participants – go further.

“One of our startling findings was that rates of domestic violence among same-sex couples is pretty consistently higher than for opposite sex couples,” says Richard Carroll, a psychologist and co-author of the report. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-29994648

The Bible teaches that homosexuality is a dangerous, and that does not count ‘domestic violence.’

Encouraging the homosexual agenda is something that the Bible warns against:

9 The look on their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves. (Isaiah 3:9)

13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. (Proverbs 8:13)

18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)

So the Bible shows that Sodom was destroyed for many things including its pride and the committing of abominations. Homosexuality is an abomination. Sodom and Gomorrah were turned into ashes making them an example–but many leaders in the UK, USA, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand, and elsewhere do not wish to consider the ramifications of what they are doing. Much of the ‘extreme weather’ that has been going on lately appears related to the increasing acceptance of the homosexual agenda (cf. Amos 4:7-12).

The survival of many in the United States and the Anglo-Saxon lands is at risk!  There are other sins of immorality, such as pornography and abortion, that are rampant and wrong in these lands as well.

No one should be ignoring the warnings of the Bible. No one should be pushing the homosexual agenda. Yet, many in the West, religious leaders included, foolishly are–and this will be to their peril.

Farage’s anti-EU party gets a big win in UK and eyes more in May

Friday, November 21st, 2014

Nigel Farage

COGwriter

Nigel Farage’s United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) scored another victory:

November 21, 2014

Nigel Farage has said UKIP can become a major force in Parliament at next year’s election after its victory in the Rochester and Strood by-election.

The UKIP leader said Mark Reckless’s victory made him believe the party could win twice as many seats in May.

Mr Reckless took 16,867 votes, 2,920 more than Conservative Kelly Tolhurst’s 13,947, with Labour’s Naushabah Khan on 6,713 – ahead of the Green Party.

The Lib Dems came fifth with their lowest vote total in a by-election.

Mr Reckless, whose defection from the Tories to UKIP triggered the contest in Kent, travelled to London soon after his election to take his seat in Parliament.

As he was sworn in at the House of Commons, he was flanked by UKIP’s other MP Douglas Carswell, another former Conservative who won a by-election last month. …

In his acceptance speech on Friday morning, Mr Reckless said Rochester and Strood had been UKIP’s 271st most winnable seat and “if UKIP can win here, we can win across the country”. …
UKIP leader Nigel Farage denied the result was simply a protest vote against the government, or that voters would return to the larger parties in the general election.

He said the message of Rochester and Strood was: “If you vote UKIP, you get UKIP” and “people out there who vote UKIP intend to stay UKIP”.

He said he believed the number of seats that UKIP could win in May had “probably doubled”.  http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-30140747

November 21, 2014

Nigel Farage, triumphant after his U.K. Independence Party won its second seat in Parliament in six weeks, floated the idea of targeting “a few dozen” districts in May’s general election.

Speaking in Rochester, southeast England, where Conservative defector Mark Reckless held the constituency for UKIP early today with 42 percent of the vote, Farage said the party’s campaigning apparatus is up to the job of fighting a national election, as well as winning individual by-elections.

“Our intention is to roll out this kind of campaign in all our target seats,” he told reporters. “Can we do this in a few dozen seats or whatever the number may be? I think we can.”

The rise of UKIP is a threat to the prospects of both Prime Minister David Cameron’s Tories and the opposition Labour Party, led by Ed Miliband. The anti-European Union, anti-immigration movement takes votes from both main parties, preventing either from polling at the level they need to have the prospect of winning a majority in the House of Commons next year. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-11-21/farage-targets-few-dozen-u-dot-k-dot-seats-after-rochester-win

The time will come when Britain will not be a regular part of the European power that is arising on the continent.  Many in the UK do not trust the European Union.  And while the Conservative Party believes it is better to stay within the European Union and to attempt to guide it with its views, UKIP feels that the EU is a bureaucratic monster that the UK needs to rid itself of being involved with as soon as it possible can.  UKIP considers that the EU is also drain of resources and ineptitude, according to some statements I have seen Nigel Farage make.

Nigel Farage has directly insulted top leaders in the European Union and they are not pleased with the type of comment that he and his supporters make against them and the EU.

The expected election in the UK in 2015 may result in the UK leaving the European Union or at least changing its stance towards it.

The USA itself seems to want the UK to remain part of the EU, at least for now.

Europe itself will change. The Bible actually teaches that the European Beast power will have to have three reorganizations (Revelation 17:12, 13, & 15-18), not necessarily counting what Nigel Farage hopes will happen (see also Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?).

The reality is that the UK will leave or somehow be eliminated from the final confederation of nations that will be part of the European Beast power. Ultimately, the Europeans will divide up and rule the UK.

The idea of Britain leaving the European Union has been called a “Brexit” or “Brixet” – British exit. Here is a news item I posted here back in February related to that:

The fact of the matter is that “Brexit” happens to make perfect sense for the UK.

There is not going to be a two-speed EU with some countries in the Eurozone and others not. One is going to be either in or out. Sitting on the fence forever won’t happen. Neither French president Francois Hollande nor the UK liberals will allow that. http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2014/02/rise-of-eurosceptics-in-netherlands.html#Rp3H28DwXxljt5Y1.99

On June 26, 2007, (see Tony Blair a Catholic EU Leader?), I posted the following:

We in the COGs tend to believe that the final beast power will be nominally Catholic (see Europa and the Beast of Revelation)…we in the COGs do believe that Britain will pull out of the EU…

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not be an equal part of the European Union. Britain will either pull out or be forced out or at least truly lose its sovereignty. The Bible indicates that the end time descendants of the Israelite tribes, because of their national sins, will be taken over and many killed.

Many of the Anglo-Saxon peoples of the UK, USA, etc. that are not killed will to be scattered and many will be made slaves by the final European Beast power(see Hosea 7:11-16; 9:1-17; 11:5-7; 12:1; 13:12-16; see also Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?). That is some of what the Bible shows will happen during the Great Tribulation.

The Bible warns of a time of trouble for the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic nations (Jeremiah 30:7).

The final European King of the North (Daniel 11:27-40) will take over the UK, USA, and their Anglo-Saxon allies according to Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39; Isaiah 10:5-11).

The election results are a step towards the UK’s departure and increased animosity with the continental Europeans.
