Nuclear facilities in Iran (Ta2aa)

Another set of meetings between Iran, the USA, and others related to Iran’s nuclear program are intended to possibly result in a deal before a deadline scheduled for next week:

LONDON—Iranian and international negotiators convene in Vienna Tuesday for a final push to try to reach agreement on Iran’s nuclear program by the November 24 deadline.The issues are largely the same as they have been for more than a year, and the implications of not reaching a deal are potentially as dire as everScenes like these from past rounds of talks will play out again in front of the television cameras. Then, the negotiators will close the doors to debate how many centrifuges Iran will retain capable of enriching uranium that can be used to build a nuclear weapon, what sort of inspections will be allowed, and how quickly economic sanctions will be lifted.Jane Kinninmont, deputy head of the Middle East Program at London’s Chatham House, says “there is a great deal of seriousness on both sides to come up with some sort of deal.”

She says although seven nations are involved, it mainly comes down to the United States and Iran.

“There is an interest on the part of both presidents in making a deal, and the feeling that if this opportunity is missed, they won’t see a similar opportunity in their lifetime,” she said.

Still, China and Russia are also at the negotiating table. They have presented a solid front with U.S. and European negotiators, but Russia, in particular, has a somewhat different view of Iran than the others. And its policy is a concern for the West, especially in light of its new, more aggressive policy in Europe.

“Russia wants to have its alliance with Iran, but it doesn’t have a particular interest in seeing Iran really become a nuclear weapons power or become a much more independent actor,” said Kinninmont.

She says the deal Russia just signed with Iran to reprocess its used nuclear fuel could help pave the way for an agreement. But Anoush Ehteshami, director of the international program at Durham University says it also raises concerns.

“Is Russia unilaterally deriving deals that could provide Iran with ‘get out’ clauses outside of the negotiations that are happening with the P5+1? asked Ehteshami. “And for that, I don’t have an answer yet because this is still far too fresh.”

More important for the coming round of negotiations is whether the sides can bridge the remaining gaps and then convince skeptics in their own governments to accept their compromises. Professor Ehteshami says in spite of the sometimes harsh rhetoric coming out of Tehran, President Hassan Rouhani will be able to do that.

“The negotiating team has a mandate from the people. They have given President Rouhani the mandate to see through this difficult phase,” said Ehteshami. “And his mandate was, his platform was, to end Iran’s isolation and to open it up to the world.  The only way Iran can do that is to bring closure to the nuclear crisis.”

The consequences of not doing that would be grave for Iran’s economy, hit by sanctions and low oil prices, and could potentially lead to military strikes on its nuclear facilities. Russia is interesting and the West would need to give Vladimir Putin reasons to not support Iran.  Earlier today, it was announced that the European Union would impose sanctions on the separatists in Ukraine, and not additional ones on Russia:

PARIS—The European Union has imposed fresh sanctions on Ukrainian separatists, but is holding back on new sanctions against Russia.  Decision by EU foreign ministers taken amid deepening tensions between the West and Russia.

European foreign ministers meeting in Brussels agreed to target more Ukrainian separatists for travel bans and asset freezes.  But they are divided over whether to toughen sanctions against Moscow.

The United States and the European Union have already imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russia for its role in the conflict in Ukraine.

The new EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, says if the conditions are right, she will visit Moscow for talks on how to end the standoff. …

“Russia is for sure part of the problem, but is also part of the solution, of the possible solution to the crisis.  How to engage in a dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow, between Kyiv and the east of the Ukraine, between the European Union and Russia – not only on Ukraine but also on a wide series of global regional issues,” said Mogherini.  http://www.voanews.com/content/european-union-moves-to-sanction-east-ukraine-separatists/2523324.html

Part of the reason for not including Russia is probably to encourage Russia to cooperate on various matters, as well as to not discourage it enough that it feels it needs to takeover Ukraine.  Right now, Russia and Syria support Iran, and all three have indicated that they oppose the Islamic State–a group that USA President Barack Obama stated he was committed to fighting.  He may decide he needs the cooperation of Iran, Russia, and/or Syria on that.

Politics in the world is often messy.

As far as the situation with Iran goes, notice something I warned about the current ‘deal’ on November 24, 2013:

What this deal really does is give Iran some economic relief and time to upgrade its technology, while it agrees to get rid of some of its underdeveloped nuclear waste and centrifuges. This, in theory at least, will give Iran more money and more time to work on its nuclear technology, (Iran makes nuclear deal that Obama praises: Israel and Saudi Arabia are not pleased)

A week later I posted:

An ‘interim’ deal is in place that apparently will allow Iran to tap into some of its foreign bank accounts and/or lift some of the economic sanctions against it. The deal will mean that Iran will give up some of its older nuclear centrifuges and enriched uranium. And if you believe Iran and the USA government, it also means that Iran will not be developing nuclear weapons at this time. In my view, this agreement will allow Iran to continue to perfect its technology so that it will be better able to produce nuclear weapons over time. (BibleNewsProphecy: Iran in Prophecy)

Iran has announced having more new nuclear centrifuges since then. Evidence has also come out that its nuclear intentions have not clearly been entirely peaceful (see Iranian report suggests Iran has wanted nuclear weapons because of the mystical 12th Imam).

Nuclear centrifuges, which Iran keeps trying to perfect (see Iran boasts of new nuclear centrifuges), basically help enrich uranium to the point that it can be used to develop nuclear energy or nuclear bombs. It is not necessary to substantially enrich uranium for peaceful nuclear power purposes. While Iran is publicly claiming their intentions are peaceful, many believe that its real goal is to produce nuclear weapons, hence improved centrifuges will give it a better ability to make weapons.

The new intended deal may promise, but likely not insure, that Iran will not be able to use any to produce weapons grade uranium. Since Iran is NOT really south of Jerusalem it will not be the final King of the South of Bible prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:40-43). Because of that, I have tended to believe that Iran may somehow get “neutralized” before this final king rises up. Using nuclear materials for nuclear or ‘dirty bombs,’ a serious attack by the USA and/or conflict with Israel may neutralize Iran and much of its influence–but Iran might hit hard first (Isaiah 22:1-14).

The top leadership of Iran has a Shi’ite Muslim agenda, which they have concluded includes causing chaos and war. I, for one, do not believe that Iran’s leaders have given up on their goals of Islamic domination.  We will see what kind of the ‘deal’ the USA will end up accepting here.

Irrespective of any agreement it may accept, Iran may end up doing something that its leadership will regret later (cf. Jeremiah 49:34-39).

After President of the United States made military related statements, the Prime Minister of Australia and President of China announced they signed a major trade deal:

China, Australia Sign Free Trade Deal

SYDNEY—Australia and China have signed a free trade agreement that officials hope will open up markets worth billions of dollars to Australian exporters. The deal was ratified after an address to the Australian parliament by the Chinese president, Xi Jinping.President Xi told the Australian parliament that his goal is to double China’s national income by 2020 and create a modern socialist country. He is only the second Chinese leader to address MPs in Canberra. He said Beijing was dedicated to upholding peace, and received a standing ovation at the end of his speech.

Following his address, the Chinese leader ratified the free trade agreement. It is expected to open up markets to Australian farm exporters and the services sector while easing restrictions on Chinese investment in Australia. All tariffs on Australian resources will be scrapped under the deal, along with duties on beef and sheep exports. The trade pact will make it easier for Australian banks, insurance companies and universities to do business in China.

Xi said Australia is a prosperous and hard-working trading partner.

“Australia has a vast territory, rich resources and an advance[d] economy, and it is renowned for its diverse culture and unique landscape. It is not just a country on the sheep’s back, or a country sitting on mine casts. More importantly, Australia is a country of dynamism and innovation,” said Xi.

China is Australia’s biggest trading partner, and its appetite for iron ore and other resources helped insulate Australia from the worst of the global financial crisis.

But as Australia’s resources boom begins to fade, Canberra is keen to maintain prosperity through its services, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.

Senior government ministers insist the free trade agreement with China is one of the most important Canberra has ever signed.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott told parliament it was a day to remember.

“With free trade negotiations concluded and with a comprehensive strategic partnership established, this is a historic and memorable day. On behalf of the government and the people of Australia, I welcome His Excellency Xi Jinping on his first visit to Australia as president of China, but on his fifth visit to our country,” said Abbott.

Critics of the free trade agreement believe it could raise food prices for Australian consumers. US, Japan, Australia agree to deepen security ties

BRISBANE, Australia — Eyeing Chinese assertiveness, President Barack Obama and the prime ministers of Japan and Australia committed Sunday to deepen their military cooperation and work together on strengthening maritime security in the Asia Pacific.

The meeting, the first since 2007 among leaders of the three allies, risked antagonizing Beijing after a week when Obama reached a surprising level of consensus with Chinese President Xi Jinping on climate change and trade, and Japan and China took steps to improve their relationship.

China has viewed Obama’s efforts to deepen alliances with other countries in the region, particularly on security issues, as an attempt to counter Beijing’s rise.

In a joint statement following the meeting, the three leaders said they had agreed to “deepen the already strong security and defense cooperation” between their countries. Australia believes that as long as the USA will defend it, its security is fine and that its arrangements with China will prosper its citizens.  While this will may well be true for a time, Chinese actions in Tibet as well as with many of its neighbors should show all in Australia that China does not have the same view of the world as they do.

China wants not only the resources from Australia, in my view, it also wants the land.

For at least five years I have warned that China may ultimately end up with at least part of Australia (see Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect. Nazarene Books, 2009).  This assessment was based upon biblical prophecy, world events, and geography.  Since that time, there have been various indications that China had interest in Australia and that the Australians have had defensive concerns related to China.

The Australians have chosen to rely on the USA and trade deals with China, yet what will it do once the USA itself is taken over?  The Bible does teach this will happen in Daniel 11:39 (for one example, many others are in the article Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel), yet few in Australia take the Bible that seriously.

China will not prove to be the type of partner that Australians will care for.  Ultimately, like those of the USA, those in Australia, as well as those in its close ally New Zealand, will be taken over and the survivors made slaves.  Scripturally, Asians seem to be involved with the dividing up and selling of people in the future in certain prophecies (e.g. Ezekiel 27:12-14). Since Australia and New Zealand are the closest of the Anglo-Saxon descended nations to Asia, they seem to be possible candidates to be taken over by the Asians.

While there are benefits of cooperation and trade, those who ignore biblical prophecy are taking massive risks which will not turn out well.

Eastern Orthodox Rendering of Gregory Thaumaturgus

November 17th is observed by some Greco-Roman Catholics in honor of the third century bishop known as Gregory Thaumaturgus, whom they also call saint Gregory of Neocaesarea.

Although I had heard of him years ago, until I was doing research for the book Fatima Shock!, I had not realized how much he affected the history of the Greco-Roman churches, as well as to a degree, the Church of God.

Around 238-244 A.D. Gregory (died roughly 270 A.D.) seems to have been the first to have claimed to have seen an apparition of Mary. This apparition allegedly appeared to him before he became a bishop. Gregory is also known as “Gregory the Wonder Worker” and Saint Gregory Thaumaturgus (wonder worker). He had been trained by allegorical teacher Origen in Alexandria.

Related to Gregory, Roberts and Donaldson reported:

He was believed to have been gifted with a power of working miracles, which he was constantly exercising…the demons were subject to him…he could cast his cloak over a man, and cause his death…he could bring the presiding demons back to their shrine.

Because Gregory’s power over demons and other “wonders” were apparently accepted by many, he had influence. It seems that Gregory’s enchantments and/or sorceries (cf. Isaiah 47:5-12; Nahum 3:4), along with Imperial persecutions, may have greatly assisted the Greco-Roman faction essentially eliminating the organized faithful in Asia Minor. Gregory was also a factor in the Marian cults that began to rise up around that time. His writings teach praise and excessive devotion to the “Holy Virgin,” including the blasphemous teaching that Mary “blotted out” Eve’s “transgressions.” He was amongst the earliest ones to promote the expression the “Holy Trinity” and the pagan idea idea that humans had an immortal soul.

We prove, then, that the soul is simple…that what is simple is immortal…If, therefore, the soul is not corrupted by the evil proper to itself, and the evil of the soul is cowardice, intemperance, envy, and the like, and all these things do not despoil it of its powers of life and action, it follows that it is immortal. The gospel never uses the expression trinity, much less “Holy Trinity” nor does it teach that the soul is immortal (to the contrary, in Ezekiel 18:4 the Roman Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible teaches ” the soul that sinneth, the same shall die” and “The soul that sinneth, the same shall die” in Ezekiel 18:20), but Gregory put his own interpretation on scripture (in the trinity case, he was referring to Luke 1:35; and the immortality of the soul he did not cite scripture). Gregory was a major reason that the trinity started to get accepted much outside of Montanist circles (Origen, too, was a factor). Protestants, of course, accepted the trinity, yet few realize that Gregory’s ‘Marian visions’ played a role in this.

The Catholic Encyclopedia claims Gregory the Wonder worker developed the first creed with the word meaning “Trinity”:

The first creed in which it appears is that of Origen’s pupil, Gregory Thaumaturgus. In his Ekthesis tes pisteos composed between 260 and 270, he writes:

There is therefore nothing created, nothing subject to another in the Trinity: nor is there anything that has been added as though it once had not existed, but had entered afterwards: therefore the Father has never been without the Son, nor the Son without the Spirit: and this same Trinity is immutable and unalterable forever (P.G., X, 986).

It is manifest that a dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelation.

The last statement should give many pause as it was allegedly from seeing one or more apparitions of Mary (and supposedly the Apostle John) that Gregory the Wonder Worker gained his “revelations.” Gregory was a supporter of Rome and Alexandria was a major factor in spreading more acceptance of the trinitarian position, especially throughout Asia Minor and Antioch.

Because of his “miraculous abilities,” his ideas apparently had more acceptance than what the Bible taught, and many were adopted. Noticed something else he wrote:

O holy virgin…She is the ever-blooming paradise of incorruptibility, wherein is planted the tree that giveth life, and that furnisheth to all the fruits of immortality…Thus the holy Virgin, while still in the flesh, maintained the incorruptible life…the holy Virgin has surpassed even the perfection of the patriarchs (Gregory Thaumaturgus. The Bible does not teach that Mary led an “incorruptible life.” The Bible teaches that all have sinned (Romans 3:23), except Jesus (Hebrews 4:14-15). Stating or implying that Mary did not is in biblical error. Perhaps it should be added that Dr. Ludwig Ott’s 20th century book Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma teaches:

The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception of Mary is not explicitly revealed in scripture… Neither the Greek nor the Latin Fathers explicitly (explicite) teach the Immaculate Conception of Mary. (Ott L. L. Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, 4th ed . TAN Books, Rockford (IL), Nihil Obstat: Jeremiah J. O’ Sullivan. Imprimatur: + Cornelius, 7 October 1954., Printed 1974, TAN Books, pp. 200-201)

But it was more than Marian ideas that Gregory Thaumaturgus influenced.

Bishop “Gregory the Wonder Worker” was involved in the councils looking into Paul of Samosata who at the time was considered the Greco-Roman Bishop of Antioch (Roberts A, Donaldson J, Volume 20, p. 3).

Gregory assisted in getting Greco-Roman influence to succeed there. The Prophet Isaiah warned that the “Lady of the Kingdoms” used sorceries since her “youth” (Isaiah 47:5,12), and Gregory’s use of “powers” in the formative years of the Greco-Roman confederation seems consistent with that biblical prophecy (he also had influence in various parts of Asia Minor (Gregory Thaumaturgus. Canonical Epistles IV,VII. Ante-Nicene Fathers; also Drijvers JW, Watt JW. Portraits of spiritual authority: religious power in early Christianity, Byzantium, and the Christian Orient, Volume 137 of Religions in the Graeco-Roman world. BRILL, 1999, pp. 107-108).

Actually, in Antioch with the successor to Paul of Samosata, we seem to see for the first time, a bishop outside of Italy that was apparently installed because of direction from the Church in Rome, and the mystic Gregory Thaumaturgus was involved in this. This, to a degree, marked a major expansion of influence of the Church of Rome outside of Italy (it also had some previous influence in Corinth).

The Catholic Encyclopedia credits his influence in expanding their church (which it calls “the Christian Church” below):

Among those who built up the Christian Church, extended its influence, and strengthened its institutions,…Gregory of Neocaesarea holds a very prominent place…To attract the people to the festivals in honour of the martyrs, we learn that Gregory organized profane amusements as an attraction for the pagans who could not understand a solemnity without some pleasures of a less serious nature than the religious ceremony.

Sadly, it is partially because of Gregory that “Christianity” took on more of the trappings of pagan worship and the Marian cults had been allowed to grow and flourish.

Gregory greatly influenced theological thought and several widely accepted false doctrines were originated and/or promoted by him. The fact that he reportedly caused the death of enemies by throwing his cloak upon them has not sufficiently diminished his influence–but should have.

A report confirms something that I have long known:

The globalization of Western eating habits is bad for human health and for the environment, according to a new study in the journal Nature.

In the study, David Tilman, a University of Minnesota ecology professor, analyzed data from 100 countries to chart what people ate and how diet affected health. He noted a trend beginning in the 1960s: As nations industrialized, population increased and incomes rose. More people began to adopt the so-called Western diet, one high in refined sugar, fat, oil and meat.

People began to get fatter and sicker.

“The excess in the 15 richest nations of the world right now,” Tilman said, “is on the order of about 400 or 500 extra calories a day beyond what people need, and that leads people to gain weight.”

Overweight people are at greater risk for noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers, Tilman said.

“Diabetes is shooting to very high rates in the United States and across Europe,” he said. “Heart disease is a major cause of mortality in the Western countries. And unfortunately, when people become industrialized, if they adopt this Western diet, they are going to have these same health impacts, and in some cases if you are Asian, you have them more severely than even happens in the West.”

Effect in China

That’s the case in China, where diabetes has skyrocked from less than 1 percent to 10 percent of the population having diabetes over a 20-year period.

“It has not leveled off yet. It is still going up,” Tilman said. “And that is happening all across the world, in Mexico, in Nigeria and so on, in nation after nation.”

The diet bad for humans is also bad for the environment, he said. …

Land use change also promotes species extinction and loss of biodiversity.

The study cited above did not really focus on Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMOs) as a part of the ‘Western’ diet, but this, of itself, is also a massive risk to human health and the planet (see GMOs and Bible Prophecy).

Having traveled around the world, I have been disappointed with seeing the relative success of junk foods and other items from the West.  I strongly recall how disappointed I was when our family was in Malaysia back in 1997 and I saw the amount of junk food that was consumed there.

The increase of problems such as diabetes and obesity in the West and other parts of the world is a result of consuming not only too much, but too much of highly processed “foods.”

As far as the environment goes (see also The Bible, Christians, and the Environment), a lot of Western farming practices are eliminating biodiversity.  This is dangerous for many reasons, including increased risk for disastrous famines that could be caused by pestilences and/or changes in the weather (see also Weather Blessings and Sorrows).

There are a lot of questionable items in the Western diet that are supposed to be food.

Furthermore, the Bible warns about eating things that are not really food:

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good (Isaiah 55:2).

Refined processed “breads,” refined and artificial sweeteners, chemical additives, and some other items commonly associated with junk foods and hydrogenated fats would seem to be consistent with that warning.

What should you eat? You should eat real food and be careful about your quantities.

People should try to eat real, not artificial, foods.  And not too much.

The Bible itself warns about obesity, getting fat, and excessive eating.  Notice some of what Moses and Jeremiah wrote:

15 You grew fat, you grew thick,
You are obese!
Then he forsook God who made him,
And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods;
With abominations they provoked Him to anger. (Deuteronomy 32:15-16)

11 “Because you were glad, because you rejoiced,
You destroyers of My heritage,
Because you have grown fat like a heifer threshing grain,
And you bellow like bulls,
12 Your mother shall be deeply ashamed;
She who bore you shall be ashamed.
Behold, the least of the nations shall be a wilderness,
A dry land and a desert. (Jeremiah 50:11-12)

There are massive problems with obesity in the world today.

Many in the West are not setting the right example when it comes to diet and this does not bode well for the world in the future (Matthew 24:4-22; Revelation 6:5-8).  Not all outside the West care for certain aspects of Western diets (watch American foods that gross out foreigners), but sadly, many have picked up a lot of bad dietary habits which have had Western influence.

FERGUSON, Missouri — Activists protesting the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teen by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, expressed anger on Saturday after the city’s police chief said the officer could return to work if a grand jury does not charge him criminally.

The St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, which saw weeks of sometimes violent protests after the Aug. 9 shooting, is on edge as the jury decides whether the officer, Darren Wilson, will face charges for the shooting of Michael Brown.

Wilson would likely be fired if he is indicted, but he could return to duty if he is not, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson told MSNBC on Saturday, adding that he had not spoken with Wilson to know if he wanted to rejoin the department.

Newly surfaced surveillance videos and dispatch calls from the day a Ferguson, Mo., police officer shot an unarmed 18-year-old contradict the police officer’s version of events, attorneys representing Michael Brown’s family said today.

The videos show Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson leaving for the hospital hours after he fatally shot Brown. The fatal shooting sparked weeks of protest in the Missouri city.

The videos, which were obtained by the St. Louis-Post Dispatch, show Wilson, 28, leaving the police station with another officer and a police union lawyer two hours after the shooting, the newspaper reported.

“Information was leaked from within the police department that Wilson was severely beaten and suffered an orbital eye socket ‘blowout,’ indicating that Michael Brown somehow deserved to die. From Boston to Los Angeles, police departments are bracing for large demonstrations when a grand jury decides whether to indict a white police officer who killed an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri.

The St. Louis County grand jury, which has been meeting since Aug. 20, is expected to decide this month whether Officer Darren Wilson is charged with a crime for killing 18-year-old Michael Brown after ordering him and a friend to stop walking in the street on Aug. 9.

The shooting has led to tension with police and a string of unruly protests there and brought worldwide attention to the formerly obscure St. Louis suburb, where more than half the population is black but few police officers are.

For some cities, a decision in the racially charged case will, inevitably, reignite long-simmering debates over local police relations with minority communities.

“It’s definitely on our radar,” said Lt. Michael McCarthy, police spokesman in Boston, where police leaders met privately Wednesday to discuss preparations. “Common sense tells you the timeline is getting close. We’re just trying to prepare in case something does step off, so we are ready to go with it.”

In Los Angeles, rocked by riots in 1992 after the acquittal of police officers in the videotaped beating of Rodney King, police officials say they’ve been in touch with their counterparts in Missouri, where Gov. Jay Nixon and St. Louis-area law enforcement held a news conference this week on their own preparations.

“Naturally, we always pay attention,” said Cmdr. The cops are preparing for the worst. And it may happen. And Sharpton, Jackson, Holder, and yes, Obama too, are shamefully silent.

Is Ferguson on the brink of war? With every fiber in my body I hope the answer is a resounding “No.” In light of recent events, however, a violent confrontation between protestors and law enforcement seems inevitable as a grand jury decides whether to indict a white police officer for the shooting death of a black teenager.

A few days ago I appeared on the Fox Business Network to discuss this question with anchor Lou Dobbs and former federal prosecutor Doug Burns. What struck me over the course of our conversation is that a violent conflict seems almost inevitable given a few startling revelations.

First, the local CBS News affiliate reported a few days ago that a Ferguson resident noted the town “is getting prepared for war” if the grand jury doesn’t indict Officer Darren Wilson in the death of the 18-year-old Michael Brown. Never mind that the autopsy report that was recently released indicates wounds sustained by Brown are consistent with apparent statements by Wilson and six African-American eyewitnesses who claim the teen charged the officer and a scuffle for the gun ensued inside the patrol car. That these six eyewitnesses have remained anonymous for fear of their personal safety is revealing in and of itself.

In the same news account, civil rights activists from the Don’t Shoot Coalition have asked local prosecutors to provide them with a 48-hour advance notification of the grand jury decision to “help prevent widespread violence if they have 48 hours to prepare for protests.” The Coalition is comprised of labor unions, anti-war activists, clergy, and so-called black empowerment groups.

Question: Does anyone believe this coalition will use a 48-hour window to quell violence? Or will it or seek to incite it? I tend to believe the latter rather than the former given what we saw in the weeks following Brown’s tragic shooting. …

My question is simply this: where are the Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson in seeking to quell potential violence? The same is to be asked of our Attorney General, and of the President of the United States, both of whom had no problem calling for a civil rights probe of the shooting but have thus far failed to preemptively warn against potential protests from spiraling out of control.

Sharpton and Jackson have indeed spoken out about the situation in Ferguson—but in a manner that appears to inflame rather than calm matters. Just last weekend Sharpton returned to Ferguson for several days of events to call for “justice” for Michael Brown. At one such event Sharpton offered: “If there is not justice for this family, then we have not achieved the goals of this movement.” A less provocative approach would have been to appeal for calm and respect the rule of law and the grand jury’s deliberations regardless of its decision. Sharpton’s view of justice seems to be prejudged and preordained: if Officer Wilson isn’t indicted, justice will not have been served.  http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/11/16/as-michael-brown-grand-jury-winds-down-is-ferguson-on-the-brink-of-war.html

There are reports that Michael Brown charged at and/or injured the police officer, which would be wrong. However, it would also seem that allegedly shooting Michael Brown six times for his actions would also be wrong.  Many believe that shooting was racially motivated, which if it was (and I have my doubts that it was) that would, of course, be wrong.

Anyway, I do not condone the use of excessive force by the government nor violent protests against the government. Multiple wrongs do not make a right and violence begets violence. After Jesus was being mistreated by semi-governmental authorities, one of His followers attempted to use a sword to try to change the situation. Notice what Jesus said:

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. (Matthew 26:52, KJV)

Vengeance belongs to God:

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:17-19, NKJV)

What is needed is peace:

9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

As far as violence goes, the Bible also shows that God is against violence and that destruction will come because of it:

23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality…30…violent, proud, boasters,…31…unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

8…And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. ( Habakkuk 2:8)

In my view, some of the protesters and some in the government turn too quickly to violence.

Taking a step further towards realising their dream of establishing an Islamic Caliphate, ISIS has announced its plan to mint its own currency out of gold, silver and copper. …

Having captured vast territories in Iraq and Syria, ISIS seeks to establish an Islamic caliphate in the region. And to achieve the same, it is planning to mint its own currency. ISIS calls the move “purely dedicated to God” and will remove Muslims from the “global economic system that is based on satanic usury.”

Now, the leaders of the Islamic State, the violent jihadist group that has seized parts of Syria and Iraq, have created their own currency, part of a grandiose plan to restore the caliphate era that dominated the Middle East more than 1,300 years ago.

In an announcement on Thursday heralding a liberation from the “satanic usury-based global economic system,” the Islamic State said it would begin minting gold, silver and copper coins, in likenesses similar to the days of the seventh-century caliphs.

The coins will have standardized weights and values, the announcement said, and they will be the legal tender of the lands controlled by the group, also known as ISIS or ISIL. …

“What central bank is going to accept an ISIS coin?” said David L. Phillips, a former adviser at the United Nations and the State Department, now at Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights.

“It’s like blood diamonds,” he said. “No credible financial institution is going to take this.”

Some economists said there could be something to the Islamic State’s aspiration to use gold for money, seeing it as a potential new venue for smuggling and thievery.

They noted that since charging interest is forbidden under strict interpretations of Islamic law, gold as a non-interest-bearing investment could be an ideal way for more strict Muslims to transact business and amass wealth.

Even with its ups and downs, gold has long been treasured for its retention of value and its universal recognition as a so-called safe haven alternative to paper money, especially in times of uncertainty. The world’s major central banks all maintain large stockpiles of bullion. …

In the history of money, coins of gold and other precious metals, which first circulated around 500 B.C., predate the introduction of paper currency by roughly 1,300 years.

“There’s not a place in the world that won’t take gold,” said James G. Rickards, a lawyer, economist, financial commentator and author of “The Death of Money: The Coming Collapse of the International Monetary System,” an explanatory book about the stresses accumulating in the system, especially since the 2008 financial crisis.

Mr. Rickards said groups like the Islamic State, excluded from conventional banking methods, are known to use bitcoin and other crypto-currencies to transfer wealth across borders. As far as Al Qaeda goes, while it was once adamantly opposed to the group that is now called the Islamic State, various Al Qaeda factions are now supporting the Islamic State.  Presumably they would also accept its currency.

As far as a confederation of Islamic nations in the Middle East and North Africa goes, although the Bible teaches that one will form, the Bible also shows that it will end in disaster.  In addition to what Daniel 11:40-43 shows, notice also the following:

2 “Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:

“Wail, ‘Woe to the day!’

Even the day of the Lord is near;
It will be a day of clouds, the time of the Gentiles.

And the pride of her power shall come down.

Those within her shall fall by the sword,”

Although the Islamists claim to believe the Bible, they apparently have overlooked its prophecies concerning confederations of predominantly Islamic nations in the Middle East and North Africa.

Islamists instead believe that terrorism, a flawed Islamic economic system, and a repressive worldwide Islamic caliphate is what the world needs.  Scripture is clear that a coming confederation of Islamic nations will end in disaster.

What the world really needs is the return of Jesus and the establishment of the Kingdom of God, not a currency from the Islamic State.  Until then, all who claim to believe the Bible, should truly study and live by it (cf. Matthew 4:4).

U.S. President Barack Obama says the U.S. is leading the world in opposing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Speaking Saturday in Australia at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Mr. Obama said Russia is “a threat to the world” as witnessed in the “appalling shoot-down of MH17;” a reference to the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in July as it flew through rebel-held territory in Ukraine en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

“As the world’s only super power, the United States has unique responsibilities that we gladly embrace,” said Obama. “We’re leading the international community in the fight to destroy the terrorist group ISIL (Islamic State), we’re leading in dealing with Ebola in West Africa and in opposing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine…a tragedy that took so many innocent lives, among them your fellow citizens.”

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says the situation in eastern Ukraine must be resolved through dialogue with the Russian-backed separatists.  However, Poroshenko said Friday the Ukrainian military is “willing and able to fight back” if the cease-fire collapses completely.

Putin wants compromise

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he wants to reach a compromise with Ukraine, but the Kremlin denies having any soldiers or weapons in rebel-controlled areas.

Ukraine’s prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, says building an army strong enough to stop Russian aggression is the country’s number one task.

NATO and European observers report seeing Russian tanks, troops and weapons crossing the border into eastern Ukraine this past week.  A cease-fire declared in September has been violated consistently almost since the day it was signed.

Moscow says it is Ukraine that is massing forces along the front lines, ignoring an agreement to pull them back.

Obama and Putin are both in Brisbane, attending the summit of the Group of 20 economic powers.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has called for the immediate implementation of the cease-fire and securing and monitoring of the Ukraine-Russia border.

As world leaders gathered in Australia for the summit, Russian President Putin, in an interview Friday with Russia’s official Tass news agency, complained about U.S.-led sanctions against Russia for its military activity in Ukraine.  He said Washington is “crudely violating” the spirit of international cooperation.

EU considers sanctions

European Union President Herman von Rompuy says European foreign ministers will meet Monday after the summit to assess the situation in Ukraine and talk about “possible further steps,” which could mean more sanctions against Moscow.

EU leaders also plan to discuss Ukraine with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the summit.

Australia has sent its fleet into international waters to monitor the activity of four Russian warships that arrived off the country’s northeast coast.

Russian authorities say their naval maneuvers and air force flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean are only routine training missions to test the range of Russian military equipment.  But Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott accuses Putin of trying to “revive the lost glories of tsarism.”  http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-ukraine/2521348.html

The US president says Asia’s security must not be based on intimidation of small nations by big ones.

Barack Obama told students in Brisbane, Australia – where he is attending the G20 summit – that security in the region must depend on mutual alliances.

He said there was “no question” over his commitment to Asia-Pacific allies, referring to US efforts to strengthen strategic ties with the region. …

Before the summit began, Mr Cameron said Russia could face further sanctions unless it stopped “destabilising Ukraine”.

But Mr Putin faced a frosty reception from Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper over Russia’s military assertiveness in Ukraine.

“I’ll shake your hand, but I only have one thing to say to you: you need to get out of Ukraine,” Mr Harper told the Russian leader.

The statements from the top leaders of the USA and all its Anglo-Saxon descended allies in the G20 (New Zealand is not part of the G20) all appear united in taking stands against Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized Western media for its one-sided coverage of the Ukraine conflict, in an interview with the German ARD channel at the G20 summit. “The most important thing is that one shouldn’t look at the problem from one side only,” Putin stressed. “Today, there’s military action underway in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian government is using the army. They even used missiles. But do you mention this? You don’t say a single word about it. It means that you want the Ukrainian government to destroy everything there, all the political enemies and opponents. Is that what you want? We do not want that. On the surface, various statements reported today, especially by USA President Barack Obama indicate that perhaps a major war will happen with Russia.  But, as Barack Obama has repeatedly stated that the USA will not go to war with Russia over Ukraine, Russia itself is not particularly worried about that.

Some Protestant prophecy watchers have long felt that there would be a major war between the USA and Russia, because of their misinterpretation of certain passages in Daniel 11 and Ezekiel 38 (see also Dangerous Protestant Prophetic Errors).

The Bible teaches it is a revived power in Europe (watch Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?), and not Russia (see Is Russia the King of the North?), who is the King of the North in Daniel 11.

While Ezekiel 38 does discuss Russia, the timing for its fulfillment is for well AFTER the return of Jesus Christ (see Ezekiel 38: For Russia & Iran in Our Day?).  Perhaps I should also add that PCG’s position that Vladimir Putin is the prophesied “prince of Rosh” of Ezekiel 38 is in also error (see PCG states Putin IS the ‘prince of Rosh,’ but…) as that group also misunderstands the timing of that prophecy.

All that being said, some of the statements by leaders such as Barack Obama show that the USA is shifting its focus to Asia and dealing with Russia and China.  More and more the Obama Administration is showing that it considers Russia and China the real threats to the USA and the world, without considering what Bible prophecy tells about what is starting to rise up in Europe. This misunderstanding of how world events ties in with biblical prophecy will be one of the reasons that the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies will find themselves betrayed by the Europeans, even though they have considered them to be allies (Ezekiel 23:4,9-10; Lamentations 1:1-2; see also World War III: Steps in Progress).

Russia, itself, is not interested in pulling out of Ukraine.  In my view, its recent military incursions/exercises in/near places such as Sweden, Alaska, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, and the Gulf of Mexico have been orchestrated to tell the world that it should not interfere with what Russia considers to be its own interests, or face consequences that Russia does not believe the rest of the world wants to deal with.

Yet, all of this intimidation, as well as limited USA response, will be part of why the Europeans will decide that they have to arm up themselves.  And the Bible tells of terrible consequences to the USA (Daniel 11:39) and the rest of its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Jeremiah 30:7) once the Europeans take successful military action that the USA would not expect.  Successful military action that the world will marvel at (Revelation 13:4), despite Europe originally not thinking it would do so (Isaiah 10:7; see also Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel and Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

The U.S. Secretary of Defense is admitting that the U.S.A. has neglected its nuclear weapons deterrent and its military has morale problems:

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says U.S. nuclear arsenal personnel are suffering from low morale, mismanagement and staffing shortages that could undermine the group’s safety, security and effectiveness.

In announcing Pentagon reviews of the nuclear mission, Hagel told reporters on Friday there has been a consistent lack of investment and support for the U.S. nuclear force.

He said he is ordering widespread changes to how the nuclear arsenal is managed to reverse leadership lapses, security flaws and sagging morale.

Secretary Hagel also vowed to invest in and bolster the force, saying there is nothing that officials cannot fix. He said the Pentagon plans to make billions of dollars in additional investments in the U.S. nuclear mission over the next five years.

Hagel called for the reviews following a series of troubling incidents involving nuclear personnel. (Reuters) – Billions of dollars are needed in the next five years to ensure the security and effectiveness of the ageing U.S. nuclear deterrent, the Pentagon said on Friday, after reviews found evidence of neglect during years of conventional warfare.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, announcing an overhaul of the system, said Americans had never been endangered.

“We have just kind of taken our eye off the ball here…,” he said. “As long as we have nuclear weapons we must ensure that they are safe, secure and effective.”

Systematic problems had been found that could undermine the security and effectiveness of the arsenal, Hagel said. He blamed “lack of sustained focus, attention and resources.”

The reviews, which followed a series of disciplinary incidents, showed a force “understaffed, under-resourced and reliant on an aging and fragile supporting infrastructure in an over-inspected and overly risk-averse environment,” the Pentagon said. …

Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work said while it was President Barack Obama’s policy to push for eventual elimination of nuclear weapons throughout the world, investment was needed to maintain the deterrent until it can be replaced in the 2020s.

Over five years ago, I warned:

An increase of military action in Afghanistan, which President Obama has called for, may stretch U.S.A. military commitments. (Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect.  Nazarene Books, 2009, p. 147)

And that has happened.

Why is that a risk?  Because of what I immediately warned of following that statement:

Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is shifting priorities away from defense spending, while encouraging the Europeans to increase their military might.  This will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the U.S.A. is not.  (Thiel B. 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect.  Nazarene Books, 2009, p. 147)

Secretary of Defense Hagel is complaining about neglect for the past five years.  The Obama Administration has been in place for close to six year now.

The LGM-30G Minuteman-III version is now the only land-based ICBM nuclear missile in service in the United States–the U.S.A. used to have different nuclear ICBMs–and this is NOT all because of the Obama Administration.  Simply having one also increases risk to the U.S.A.

The Obama Administration, itself, has frequently pressured the Europeans to increase their military might, while also taking steps to share much U.S.A. military and espionage information with the Europeans (see also World War III: Steps in Progress).

The European Union is planning on improving its economy and position in the world via technology and research. It is hoping to have more of the pieces together by 2020. And despite its flaws, for a short time, the European power will dominate the world per Revelation 13, 17, and 18. Its intention with its technology and procedures (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/af609b2c-bf72-11db-9ac2-000b5df10621.html) IS to lead the world.

Europe is moving forward with its research, space, governmental, and military plans and few in the USA seem to realize that when it gets enough power, the USA will lose all of its.

While the U.S.A. believes it can resolve its problems with various plans, the reality is that it will be hit when it is perceived to be weakest–which could be shortly before new nuclear or other weapons are considered to be fully operational.

The world is starting to consider Europe, or at least part of it, as a leader.

GfK found other key factors helped put Germany on top, including its leading role in European politics, strong economic performance and high-profile international engagement. Interestingly, Germany, the nation that was highly responsible for two world wars last century, is now the most favorably viewed nation in the world.

The Snowden revelations greatly have affected how many view the U.S.A. (see also The Snowden Leaks are Leading to the Destruction of the USA).  There are many reasons that we are seeing a shift away for the U.S.A.  And that will not end well for the U.S.A. (Daniel 11:39) nor its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Jeremiah 30:7).

The statements today by Secretary Hagel show that the U.S.A. has, and therefore can again, neglect significant portions of its military defense.  This weakness will be exploited in the future.
