Here is a report about what Americans fear most in 2015:

Americans are more afraid of U.S. government corruption than they are of potential terrorist attacks.

According to a Chapman University survey, 58 percent of people say they were either afraid or very afraid of corruption on the part of government officials, while 44.4 percent report fearing man-made disasters such as a terrorist attack.

Government corruption tops a list of 88 potential fears and anxieties that 1,541 people from across the country were asked about.

Almost half of Americans say they fear cyber terrorism and having their online information tracked by the government and corporations.

The survey broke fear down into 10 major domains, including categories such as crime, personal anxieties and technology, as well as man-made and natural disasters.

The other top 10 fears include corporate tracking of personal information, terror attacks, bio-warfare, identity theft, running out of money and credit card fraud.

Ultimately people seem to be more afraid of disasters created by man than those nature dishes out.

The most-feared natural disasters are pandemics, rather than hurricanes or earthquakes, and when it comes to personal anxieties, fear of reptiles tops the list. Global warming is the main environmental concern and when it comes to daily life, death is what people fear the most.

It is interesting that US Americans fear government corruption more than anything else.  With Hillary Clinton giving testimony again today regarding Benghazi and possibly her email deletions, numerous other political scandals, police shootings, government restrictions on the first amendment to the USA Constitution, the persecutions of those who do not accept the US Supreme Court’s homosexual marriage ruling, and the fact that the US Senate will not approve a bill to jail illegal criminals, and the raising of debt through what I call ‘electronic counterfeiting’ (producing money and backing it with US Treasury Bills that have not physical asset backing), Americans have decided that contrary to the advice of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, what they fear most is the corruption of their government.

The idea of fearing humans more than ‘natural disasters’ in not new.  Through the Prophet Nathan, God gave King David of Israel three choices for punishment.  Notice the choices, what David chose, and why he choose them:

7 And God was displeased with this thing; therefore He struck Israel. 8 So David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing; but now, I pray, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”

9 Then the Lord spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying, 10 “Go and tell David, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “I offer you three things; choose one of them for yourself, that I may do it to you.”‘”

11 So Gad came to David and said to him, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Choose for yourself, 12 either three years of famine, or three months to be defeated by your foes with the sword of your enemies overtaking you, or else for three days the sword of the Lord — the plague in the land, with the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.’ Now consider what answer I should take back to Him who sent me.”

13 And David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Please let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are very great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”  (1 Chronicles 21:7-13)

Jesus warned that a time was coming when it

 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)

This will be because of corruption in government.  The Bible further warns that a famine of the word is coming and government corruption will likely be a factor in that. For years I have been writing that I believe that steps that the governments of the USA and UK have taken could help lead to the coming ‘famine of the word’ and/or directly cause it.  Notice something I put in the article Who is the King of the North? back in 2011:

The Bible warns:

12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.  (Amos 8:12, KJV)

The above will apparently happen after Daniel 11:33 is fulfilled, but portions may begin as early as Daniel 11:28. With FCC “net neutrality” rules (they were approved to start to use in late 2010), we are getting close to that time when governments will be too offended by the truth and some will take steps to stop it from being proclaimed. Perhaps under the guise of “neutrality,” perhaps under the guise of “The Patriot Act,” perhaps under the guise of “public welfare” or national security, something will be done to stop perhaps all of the organized media efforts to proclaim biblical truths.

Furthermore, on August 11, 2011, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom stated that he wanted Scotland Yard to consider stopping suspected rioters from having the ability to utilize “social media” that involved the internet (see UK’s Cameron May Call Out the Troops and Restrict Social Media)–thus the idea of interference with the ability to proclaim the gospel that way may fulfill what the Bible and Herbert W. Armstrong understood, just prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.

The work may be stopped by government officials (like on the internet, television, etc.) and persecutions began because people of the holy covenant are warning the world of the results of their sins (which they will not want pointed out) and teaching that the King of the North is fulfilling these prophecies in Daniel 11. The faithful may be saying things that are not “politically correct” to the point that one or more governments will take action (especially if we are saying, and I expect to help do this, that a certain individual is the King of the North and that he will invade and destroy the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, etc.).

The government corruption in the USA regarding restrictions for its first amendment are likely to be a factor, and will help facilitate, to a degree, the rise of the King of the North.  While we in the CCOG realize this, we boldly go forward as we also know “perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18).

As far as human fears go, there are other fears that Americans have.

Perhaps some would be interested to see that last year Chapman’s survey listed the top fears differently:

California-based Chapman University questioned 1,500 people from across the United States to reach its conclusions. The survey found that the top five things that scare Americans the most are: walking alone at night, becoming the victim of identity theft, Internet safety, being the victim of a mass/random shooting, and public speaking.

The researchers pared the information they gathered into four general categories: personal fears, natural disasters, fear factors and crime.

“A majority of Americans not only fear crimes such as, child abduction, gang violence, sexual assaults and others; but they also believe these crimes (and others) have increased over the past 20 years,” said Dr. Edward Day, who led the crime portion of the research and analysis, in a press release. “When we looked at statistical data from police and FBI records, it showed crime has actually decreased in America in the past 20 years.”

The survey also looked at what Americans worry about most. Many of those concerns center around online activity; people worry about both government and corporate surveillance of their Internet activity.

Americans’ other top worries include running out of money and becoming ill in the future.

And even though we are uneasy about natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes, only 25 percent of us have a disaster preparedness kit — an emergency supply of food, water, clothing and medical supplies.

“We are conducting follow-up studies to examine why so many Americans remain unprepared despite lessons learned from recent natural disasters,” said Dr. Ann Gordon, one of the lead researchers, in the press release. ”And, we are also taking a closer look at ‘preppers’—a community that takes preparedness to the extreme.”

The researchers even came up with an analysis of what types of people tend to fear certain things. Of course, natural and other disasters are coming (Matthew 24) and it is wise to take physical and spiritual steps to deal with them. Yet, many with fears and worries take few, if any, effect steps to deal with such matters.

Jesus taught that having a godly fear was more important than fearing people:

28 And you shall not be afraid of those who kill the body that are not able to kill the soul; rather be afraid of him who can destroy soul and body in Gehenna. (Matthew 10:28, Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

As far as taking proper preparation goes, the Bible teaches the following:

3 A prudent man forsees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished. (Proverbs 22:3)

That does not mean that there will be no difficulties, but that proper steps should be taken. Jesus said:

43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:43-44).

Speaking to His followers, Jesus said they would have problems:

33 In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

But Jesus also said:

22 Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. 23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? 25 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

29 “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:22-32)

People need to take proper spiritual steps now.  One of the biggest fears that people really have is a fear of making a mistake.  Because of that, many Christians are paralyzed to do what they really should do and have proper faith in God’s word.

Jesus warned that it would could be hard to find faith when He returns:

8 Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?  (Luke 18:8)

Jesus also warned the Laodiceans:

14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,

‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:  15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.  16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.  17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked —   18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.  19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.  20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.  21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘”  (Revelation 3:14-22)

Most Christians in the end times are Laodicean, so that warning should be paid attention to by all Christians.  Yet, many do not fear being Laodiceans enough to repent.  People really need to have courage and properly exercise faith (watch also Faith and Courage).  Those who think they should be ‘independent’ are deceiving themselves per Zephaniah 2:1-3 (watch Zephaniah’s ‘Gather Together’ Prophecy;
see also Independent Members of the COG: Herbert W. Armstrong Comments, Plus Questions and Answers).  Those in COGs that are not truly Philadelphian and have prophetic errors (see list in the article The Laodicean Church Era) need to change.

Trials and tribulations are coming, but those who will heed Jesus’ call to be Philadelphian Christians in this age can be protected from the coming hour of trial that will come upon the earth:

7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write,

‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie — indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. 10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. (Revelation 3:7-11)

Sadly, most who profess Christ in these days are NOT Philadelphian Christians and will have to go through the tribulation. Notice that Revelation teaches that only some Christians will be protected while others will not be:

14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:14-17)

Please consider your spiritual state, no matter where you may live. Just because you profess Jesus Christ and may keep the commandments does NOT mean that you will be protected. Only the Philadelphian Christians are promised protection and they have a different focus on truly doing the work (Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20) in these end times.

As far as the nation of the USA goes, America needs national repentance and the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.

Marijuana abuse is rising as a new study finds that it is frequently addictive:

Marijuana Use—and Abuse—in the U.S. Has Doubled in the Past Decade

Changing laws and attitudes surrounding medical and recreational marijuana use have made the drug more accessible. Currently, 23 states in the U.S. permit cannabis for medical purposes, and four of those states have decriminalized the drug for recreational use. As a result, more people are using marijuana, and according to a new study this may come with a serious expense: Marijuana use disorders are now a bigger problem than ever.

For the study, published Wednesday in JAMA Psychiatry, researchers analyzed data from the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions for 2001 to 2002 and 2012 to 2013. They found that three of every 10 Americans who used marijuana in the past year had a diagnosis of a marijuana use disorder, a condition in which a person becomes dependent on the drug and uses it daily in excess, sometimes at the expense of taking part in other activities. This adds up to approximately 6.8 million people. Between 2001 and 2013 overall marijuana use rose from 4.1 percent to 9.5 percent. So while the overall rate for addiction and dependence has gone down in the last decade—from 35.6 percent in 2001–2002 to 30.6 percent in 2013, there is a larger population of users who are now addicted to the drug, because of how many more people have access.  …

Marijuana is viewed by many people as a harmless and nonaddictive drug. … Dr. David Sack, chief medical officer of Elements Behavioral Health and Promises Addiction Treatment Center in Long Beach, California, says that the idea that marijuana dependency doesn’t occur is a myth. “It has a very predictable set of withdrawal symptoms. It usually starts in 48 hours and peaks within 7 days,” he says. These symptoms include dysphoria, insomnia, anxiety and cravings for the drug.  Those who try to quit frequently relapse, and sometimes a person who is misusing marijuana may also struggle with addiction to other substance. The drug also functions differently in the body than other substances. Marijuana is stored in fat tissue, which means it stays in the body for about 30 days, says Sack. To compare, heroin only maintains a presence in the body for about three minutes, while the liver processes one serving of alcohol in less than one hour. The study itself has the following conclusions:

Conclusions and Relevance  The prevalence of marijuana use more than doubled between 2001-2002 and 2012-2013, and there was a large increase in marijuana use disorders during that time. While not all marijuana users experience problems, nearly 3 of 10 marijuana users manifested a marijuana use disorder in 2012-2013. Because the risk for marijuana use disorder did not increase among users, the increase in prevalence of marijuana use disorder is owing to an increase in prevalence of users in the US adult population. Marijuana is not something that people should smoke.

Yet, more USA states are legalizing it (see 11 more states in USA considered likely to ‘legalize’ marijuana).  Also, the new Prime Minister of Canada wants to legalize it there (see Justin Trudeau wins–What’s ahead for Canada?).  Because of changes by the current US President, the marijuana business has been able to expand more rapidly than it otherwise would have.

12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths. (Isaiah 3:12)

Republican party US presidential candidate Ben Carson wrote the following about what he would do on his first day if he is elected president:

Someone recently asked me what the No. 1 national security threat is facing America today.

I probably surprised some in the audience when I responded, “The debt crisis.”

While America faces several very real existential threats in the 21st century, our ballooning debt is one impending crisis that is worse than any other threat. If not addressed, this threat is certain to bring down our great country.

The U.S. government debt stands today at $18.5 trillion – more than double what it was when Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Under a Democratic Party president and a Republican-dominated Congress, Washington sees no end in sight for its borrowing. No one has offered a plan to stop it, let alone reduce it. Borrowing and spending without limit is the new normal inside the beltway. Each year, Congress and the executive joust over raising the debt limit, rationalizing that they are really just paying last year’s bills. There’s just one problem: This exercise is completely unsustainable and will eventually, without any doubt, result in catastrophe for the U.S. government and the U.S. economy.

As president, I plan to address this on my first day in office – Jan. 20, 2017.

Here’s what I will do on Day 1.

I will tell the nation that, beginning immediately, we will no longer borrow money from future generations to sustain the growth of government or empower it over ordinary Americans.

Beginning immediately, we will also end the un-American idea that we can have unlimited, unaccountable government through reckless, irresponsible and immoral borrowing against our future.

I will put Congress on notice. As president, I will not look favorably upon the idea of raising the debt limit when it comes into question. Until now, Congress and the president have been engaged in a game of chicken over every debt ceiling increase. This is a game I will not play, as I intend to shine the light on those responsible for spending the money in the first place. We will need to begin making cuts, ending programs, streamlining departments and agencies, stopping waste and eradicating spending so that Washington will live within its means just like ordinary Americans must.

I will not be waiting until a month before we reach the next food fight over the debt ceiling. I will make this announcement immediately so that we can begin planning, conferring and making intelligent decisions.

We will not allow America to default upon the loan obligations it has already incurred. Ben Carson is a Sabbath-keeper and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (more on that religion can be found in the article SDA/CCOG Differences: Two Horned Beast of Revelation and 666).

While taking a tough step against increasing debt can be a positive move, it of itself cannot possibly ‘save America.’

Furthermore let me add that in Ben Carson’s article, I did not see how he would stop the growth of USA debt, only that he would place more limits on increasing debt.

But neither he, nor anyone else, can guarantee that the USA will not default or get its credit rating lowered.

The actual CAUSE of the debt is sin and disobedience.  While there have always been carnal moves that could reduce and/or eliminate the debt, because of being blinded by sin and vanity, the leaders in the USA have failed to do even the carnal steps that could resolve this.  While Ben Carson may be able to assist some this way, the reality is that he has made enough statements to concern me that he does not understand the Bible, religious freedom, and certain matters related to the end times.

As far as debt goes, the Bible teaches that the time will come when it will be ‘game over’ as foreign creditors will decide the USA has past the point of no return:

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The United States is the most indebted nation in the history of the world.  It has already past the point of no return as enough of its political leaders continue to believe they do not have to solve the problem, but can instead continue to live off the dishonest profits of increasing debt. The USA is able to get away with this for several reasons, the main of which is that because it is the world’s dominant military power and its dollar is the world’s reserve currency, much of the rest of the world feels it has no choice but to put up with it.

The debt situation of the USA is putting it at risk of being unable to recover should it be hit by more severe weather problems, terrorist acts, war, riots, solar flares, severe earthquakes, civil unrest, devastation of their genetically-modified food supplies, food shortages, and/or various pestilences–an intensity of “sorrows” such as Jesus discussed in Matthew 24:4-8 leading up to the time of the Great Tribulation. Disasters such as pestilences, especially if there is an ElectroMagnetic Pulse (emp) attack or a severe solar flare storm, could be part of a so-called “perfect storm” of events that could set the USA for destruction (Daniel 11:39).

Ben Carson cannot prevent this, but he is right that debt is a big problem for the USA.

If the USA would turn back against the homosexual agenda (which is something that Ben Carson has apparently decided is the ‘law of the land’) and abortion and pornography, etc., etc., that could delay the disaster that will happen (cf. Daniel 4:27).

National repentance is what is required, and since that is not going to happen, catastrophe will.

Personal repentance is still possible as that is the only way out of the problems that will hit the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies.

The USA needs the return of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.

The UN is not asking permission, but issuing a command that the entire planet will commit to 17 sustainable development goals and 169 sustainable development targets designed to radically transform our world by 2030. The UN 2030 plan promoted by the Pope will advance Agenda 21 on steroids.

Through a controlled media the mass populations will be told that this is all about saving the environment and “ending poverty.” But that is not the true agenda of Agenda 21. Regular readers of this COG News page realize that I have been warning about Pope Francis’ agenda which promotes many of the  elements of the “‘New Universal Agenda.”  This was apparently the plan, and is consistent with his Laudato Si encyclical.

Now Michael Snyder is correct that we will not get there overnight.  And he is also right that there will be ‘quite a few bumps along the way.’

The Bible clearly teaches of an economic power (Revelation 13:16-18) that is a vast trading empire (cf. Revelation 18:11-23) and that has essentially a one-world religion (Revelation 13:4-8).

However, it will not come about because the USA will voluntarily give up its sovereignty.  It is not that the USA is not agreeing to aspects of that, but the Bible shows that the rising Babylonian Beast power in Europe will decide that the USA must be eliminated militarily in order for it to attain its goals (cf. Daniel 11:39).

The Bible warns about being associated with the end time ‘daughter of Babylon,’ also known as Mystery Babylon the Great:

6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord. 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. (Zechariah 2:6-7)

33 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:

“The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor
When it is time to thresh her;
Yet a little while
And the time of her harvest will come.”  (Jeremiah 51:33)

3… And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.  5 And on her forehead a name was written:

15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.  (Revelation 17:3-18; 18:1-8)

The Bible shows that this ‘daughter of Babylon’ will not simply come about because of trade agreements, but that sorcery, signs, and lying wonders will all be factors for a power that will ultimately fail:

1″Come down and sit in the dust,O virgin daughter of Babylon; Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.  (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

Many world leaders, including Pope Francis, believe that it will be international human cooperation that will bring peace and prosperity, the type of unity that they are working towards will involve more deception and demonic influence.  Isaiah 47:10 suggests, to me at least, that some false documents (possibly related to church history) will some day surface as additional ‘proof’ to follow what the world is trying to put together.

While the UN, EU, and the Vatican will have some temporal successes, they will not only not succeed, their demonically-influenced human efforts will ultimately bring planet Earth to the point that it would make life unsustainable if Jesus did not return to establish His Kingdom. What the United Nations and the Vatican are promoting is a false gospel. Many in the world are trying to put together a semi-religious Babylonian international plan to put in a new world order in the 21st century.

Although the Bible shows that ultimately it will fail, the Bible also shows that it will look good to many, and even get a temporal peace deal in the Middle East per Daniel 9:27 (see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).

According to the Bible, it will take a combination of a military leader in Europe (called the King of the North, also called the Beast of Revelation 13:1-10) along with a religious leader (called the false prophet, also called THE Antichrist and the two-horned Beast of Revelation 13:11-17) from the city of seven hills (Revelation 17:9,18), along with sorceries and demons (Isaiah 47: ; Revelation ) to bring in a Babylonian (Revelation 17 & 18) ‘new world order.’ And the Bible teaches that this is not good (Revelation 13, 14, 17, & 18).

This is something that the Continuing Church of God has denounced since its inception and plans to continue to denounce. Regarding those of the world, the Bible teaches “the way of peace they have not known” (Isaiah 59:8; Romans 3:17).  Instead, the United Nations and the Vatican are setting the world (including the USA) up for ‘sudden destruction’ (! Thessalonians 5:3).

Neil and Isella Wallis were attacked and chased by a swarm of African Bees while walking on their farm earlier today. They began to run in different directions, and the bees went after Neil. These bees can be extremely dangerous, especially as to how one’s body reacts. Neil is now unable to see, his blood pressure is low and he’s having difficulty breathing.  Isella was also stung a few times but was able to get away from the bees. Neil has been put on an adrenaline drip. The doctor is “literally standing over him watching how he is reacting to the bee poison.” Every minute counts, as this is very serious. Please pray for God to help him through this and to completely heal him. With love and thanks from the whole family, Jason Webster and Shannon Sweat.

Although I have been to South Africa, I do not know these members of the United Church of God. But they are in my prayers.

Another stabbing attack Tuesday morning in the West Bank left an Israeli soldier wounded and the assailant killed, increasing the fear in the country that no place is safe.The military said the Israeli officer was injured lightly in the stabbing. The army said the attack took place in the West Bank village of Beit Awwa near Hebron during a “violent riot” of Palestinian demonstrators.

The clashes are yet another guarantee that Israel will remain on edge, reports CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen. But the real dread is over random murder. An attacker Sunday killed a soldier before being killed himself.

The current unrest erupted in Jerusalem a month ago over tensions surrounding a Jerusalem holy site sacred to Jews and Muslims. It soon spread to Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem and then to the West Bank, Gaza and the rest of Israel.

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit has joined Pope Francis and the U.N. Secretary-General expressing deep concern over renewed violence in Jerusalem as Ban Ki-moon made his way to Israel to ty to find ways of defusing tensions.

The U.N.’s Ban was was heading for Israel Oct. 20 for in a diplomatic bid to address ongoing violence that has rocked the country for over a month, a U.N. spokesman said in Geneva.

During his visit Ban was to meet with israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Speaking after Sunday Mass the Pope had appealed once again for peace in the Holy Land.

“I am following with great concern the situation of high tension and violence that afflicts the Holy Land,” he said.

Over the past month, nine Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, most of them stabbings. Ban on visit says there can be no de-escalation of violence without “reemergence of hope.”

Netanyahu placed the blame for the violence on Abbas for “joining Hamas and ISIS in claiming that Israel is threatening the Al-Aksa Mosque.” This, he said, is a “total lie.” …

“I think it is time to tell the truth about Palestinian terrorism,” Netanyahu said. “It is not about the settlements, it is not about the peace process, it is the desire to destroy the State of Israel, pure and simple.”

Ban, who said he understood the “pain and anger felt by many Israelis in the current environment,” said that “clearly these attacks against individuals are not taking place in a vacuum.” He said that he has been “deeply troubled” by statements made by Hamas and Islamic Jihad praising the attacks, and also voiced his “deep concern” in a conversation with Abbas over “instances of inflammatory rhetoric.”

Ban urged the Israeli government to do its utmost to calm down the situation, and said he welcomed statements by Netanyahu, other ministers and prominent rabbis about maintaining the status quo on the Temple Mount.

Ban said that the security challenges Israel is facing raises many “complicated dilemmas and may require tightening security measures.” But, he added, these measures must be carefully calibrated to protect innocent lives, and where innocent lives are lost Israel should conduct full investigations.

“Israelis and Palestinians stand on the brink of another catastrophic period of violence. We need to keep the situation from escalating into a religious conflict with potential regional implications,” he said. “We must create the conditions for meaningful negotiations that will end the occupation and realize the aspirations of both people. The only way to end this conflict is through negotiations that produce visible, meaningful results. Ban Ki-moon seems to be hinting at an international ‘solution’ to the problems there.  The Palestinians are again learning that violence brings international attention and sometimes pressure to assist their goals.

Many Palestinians are depressed, distraught, and feel that they are without hope. Because of improper Islamic teachings, many believe that engaging in this type of murderous behavior, when it results in their personal deaths, will not only free them from problems in this life, but give them an opportunity to fulfill various lusts in the next (e.g. see Suicide bombers kill scores in Turkey–their hope for reward is flawed)–but that is a false hope.

As far as the Vatican goes, Pope Francis wants more access to Jerusalem.  The events happening there may give him more influence and a better ability to meet his objectives.

Decades ago, the late Church of God evangelist Raymond McNair wrote:

In the German Süddeutsche Zeitung there was an article in which it was revealed that Pope Paul VI had received a message in Fatima through the only remaining shepherd girl (who is now a nun). They were seen quite some time together and it appeared as if she had something to say to him. When asked in Rome, after his return, if his visit to Fatima was a success, Pope Paul said: ” I went to Fatima to pray for peace to the Virgin Mary and I received the answer how to, achieve this peace.”

There are many rumors that he did receive a message, but he has not wanted to divulge it.

Since the pilgrimage to Fatima, the Pope has spoken out on Jerusalem- demanding it become an international city. What most do not know is that there is evidence the Vatican has plans to move from Rome to Jerusalem … This event will stir the world! It will be the Pope ‘s final effort as the world’s peacemaker! (McNair R. The Real Meaning Behind POPE PAUL’S PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL. Plain Truth, June 1967, pp. 3, 47)

Jerusalem will become increasingly important to Catholics in the near future. The Papacy will, as previously reported in The PLAIN TRUTH, be moved from Rome to Jerusalem … Bible prophecy is very explicit on this point. Furthermore, according to a recent report in a leading German newspaper, the Third Fatima Message is reported (by inside, informed Vatican sources) to reveal that there will be a terrible World War III, during which (according to this Fatima Vision) both Rome and the Vatican will be destroyed! Could this possibly explain why the Vatican will be moved to Jerusalem? (McNair R. POPE MEETS PATRIARCH. Plain Truth, October 1967)

Like me, Raymond McNair (and the old Radio Church of God, who published the above) was aware that Catholic actions can be influenced by Marian apparitions and Catholic private prophecies.  Fatima is more important to the Church of Rome than most non-Catholics realize.  Pope Francis had his pontificate dedicated to the ‘Lady of Fatima’ and later consecrated the world to the immaculate heart of his version of Mary before the statue used in Fatima as a representation of what was claimed to appear there.

Pope Francis has been to Jerusalem and pushed to permanently acquire a building there last year (some details are in the article Church of God on Jerusalem’s Western Hill).  Yes, the Vatican will take advantage of a crisis to get what it wants.

What is happening with the stabbings and other terrorism in Israel/Palestine is horrific.

Christians should “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6) and “Thy Kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10).

But real Christians also realize that this will not truly happen until after the return of Jesus and the establishment of the millennial kingdom–a concept that people like Pope Francis do not accept.

Canada elected Justin Trudeau as its next prime minister:

Justin Trudeau will become Canada’s next prime minister after leading his Liberal Party to a commanding victory in Tuesday’s parliamentary elections.

Results provided by Canada’s election commission show the Liberals winning 184 seats in the 338-seat Parliament, compared to the 99 seats won by outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party.

The left-leaning New Democratic Party, once considered the front-running party early in the 11-week campaign, finished a distant third with 44 seats.

Trudeau claimed victory before a crowd of cheering supporters in Montreal late Monday night, saying the campaign proved “this is what positive politics can do” and that he hoped it will serve as “an inspiration to like-minded people to step up and pitch in.” …

Trudeau campaigned on a platform of raising taxes on Canada’s richest citizens, increasing spending on infrastructure to boost the economy and improving relations with the United States.

University of Toronto political scientist Peter Loewen says his polling suggests there is support for such a platform.

“There is majority support for raising taxes on the wealthy. It depends on how you define wealthy, of course, and there is not a huge aversion to deficits as there was before in Canada,” Loewen said. “That was believed to be orthodoxy in Canada; you couldn’t win if you weren’t running on balanced budgets. Justin Trudeau ended nearly a decade of Conservative rule in Canada when his Liberal Party secured 54 percent of the country’s seats in Monday’s federal election. Stephen Harper, the outgoing Conservative prime minister, had sought to reverse Canada’s image as a liberal haven during his time in office by cutting corporate taxes and engaging in what opponents said was a damaging environmental policy.

By contrast, Trudeau has pledged to attend the United Nations climate conference in Paris in November and to introduce a national plan for combating climate change within 90 days of that summit.

The 43-year-old is pro-choice, proudly declares himself a feminist, and says he would work to legalize marijuana “right away” based on the system used in Colorado. He has also pledged to “end tax breaks for the wealthy, to give Canadian families more money to raise their children.” …

However, his most striking career sojourn came in 2012 when he brawled his way to victory over Canadian Conservative Sen. Patrick Brazeau in a charity boxing match. … “As far as anyone knows, Justin could become the first prime minister with a tattoo,” wrote Canada’s Global News. During the election campaign, Mr Trudeau indicated he would withdraw Canada’s CF-18 bombers from the coalition mission against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria. …

He wants to welcome more Syrian refugees …

He will aim to smooth relations with Iran Stephen Harper’s government cut diplomatic ties with Iran in 2012, closing the Canadian Embassy in Tehran and expelling Iranian diplomats from Canada. So, the tattooed Justin Trudeau wants to raise taxes, increase deficit spending, support abortion, support the UN’s climate change agenda, legalize marijuana, increase alien migration into his nation, support the Iranian deal even though the Iranians are tied to terrorism, and get better relations with the USA.  As far as relations with the USA go, my personal experience has always been that Canadians and those from the USA tend to get along.  My wife and I were in Canada at the Feast of Tabernacles earlier this month (see Feast of Tabernacles’ Sites for 2015) and again confirmed ties between the Canadians and those from the USA.

But, of course, promoting tattoos, covetousness, abortion, debt, and marijuana, that Justin Trudeau does, is opposed to the Bible.

As far as aliens and disobedience goes, the Bible warns:

43 “The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.

45 “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. 46 And they shall be upon you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.

47 “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you.  (Deuteronomy 28:43-51)

Because of current and expected future ties to the USA, Canada is expected to suffer basically  the same fate as the USA–it will be taken over and its lands will be divided as that is what the Bible shows will happen to the USA in Daniel 11:39.  The Bible also prophesies terrorism (Deuteronomy 32:25; Ezekiel 21:12; Psalms 73:12,19; Proverbs 1:25-27; Ecclesiastes 12:5) and Canada will be affected by that as well.

While people will claim that the world likes Canada, and it has many friends, notice the following:

1 How lonely sits the city
That was full of people!
How like a widow is she,
Who was great among the nations!
The princess among the provinces
Has become a slave!

2 She weeps bitterly in the night,
Her tears are on her cheeks;
Among all her lovers
She has none to comfort her.
All her friends have dealt treacherously with her;
They have become her enemies. (Lamentations 1:1-2)

The USA and Canada (including the other Anglo-Commonwealth nations) were “great among the nations.” And the Bible is clear that betrayal is coming from national FRIENDS!

The late Herbert W. Armstrong made it clear in his later years that he believed that the King of the North (the one mentioned in Daniel 11:40-41 which is the same one who places the abomination mentioned in Daniel 11:31) would destroy the Canadian, British, and American peoples. Notice some of what he wrote about that in 1979:

The indication is the armies of the “beast” of Revelation 17, entering Jerusalem (Dan 11:41, Zech. 14:2), will stop this “daily sacrifice”…And the abomination that maketh desolate set up.” What is this abomination? This refers to Daniel 11:31 and Matthew 24:15…From this time (Daniel 12:11) to Christ’s coming will be 1290 days. Now, verse 12, “Blessed is he that waiteth, and comes to the 1335 days.” Never before have we understood these periods of 1260, 1290. and 1335 days. But it seems evident, now, a blessing is pronounced on us–GOD”S CHURCH–who wait and endure until the 1335 days–approximately 1335 days prior to Christ’s coming. But since no one can know the day or hour of His coming, we probably shall not be able to know the exact day this 1335 days begins. But apparently that is the time when OUR WORK SHALL END. That will be a time when the UNITED Europe shall appear–the revival of the medieval “Holy Roman Empire.” We shall then be warned, and readied to be taken to a place of refuge and safety from the Great Tribulation. Forty-five days later “the beast’s armies” will surround Jerusalem. Thirty days later the Great Tribulation will probably start with a nuclear attack on London and Britain–and possibly the same day or immediately after, on the United States and Canadian cities. The GREAT TRIBULATION, we shall fully then realize, is the time of “Jacob’s Trouble,” spoken of in Jeremiah 30:7. And Jacob’s name was named on Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:16). At that time a third of the people in our nations will die, or shall have died, by famine and disease epidemics; another third will dies of the war–our cities being destroyed (Ezek. 6:6), and the remaining third will be carried to the land of our enemies as slaves (Ezek. 5:12). The Bible prophecies the destruction of the cities, after the military (“horses cut off” and “destroy your chariots” below) has problems:

10 “And it shall be in that day,” says the LORD,
“That I will cut off your horses from your midst
And destroy your chariots.
11 I will cut off the cities of your land
And throw down all your strongholds.
12 I will cut off sorceries from your hand,
And you shall have no soothsayers.
13 Your carved images I will also cut off,
And your sacred pillars from your midst;
You shall no more worship the work of your hands;
14 I will pluck your wooden images from your midst;
Thus I will destroy your cities.
15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury
On the nations that have not heard.” (Micah 5:10-15).

City destruction will happen. Canada’s major military ally is the USA and the USA is in the process of downsizing its military. Thus, the steps that proceed the destruction of cities is starting to take place now.

The Bible also prophecies captivity (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?):

36’And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues. 37 They shall stumble over one another, as it were before a sword, when no one pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies. 38 You shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. 39 And those of you who are left shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in their fathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.
40’But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me, 41 and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt– 42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land. 43 The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes (Leviticus 26:36-43).

Slavery will affect many of the Canadians that survive. But the Bible also shows that ultimately God will be merciful to those who were allowed to be captured:

44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God. 45 But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD’ ” (Leviticus 26:44-45).

Canadians should not ignore the Bible nor should its leader promote positions that are opposed to the Bible.

Many will be observing “Halloween” in about two weeks. Many consider that it is a holiday appropriate for “Christians.”

One article at the mislabeled Christianity Today starts out with the statement, “I love Halloween” (Mendenhall D. A Halloween Solution. Christianity Today, October 31, 2005. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2005/novemberweb-only/13.0.html).

But the origins of today’s Halloween are not biblical.

Do Halloween and Christianity belong together?

Halloween is an old English word which means ” hallowed evening.” It is the night before the Roman Catholic holiday that they claim to have adopted from the Eastern Orthodox now called All Saints Day (which in Mexico is celebrated as “the Day of the Dead”). Part of the public Catholic rationale for All Saints Day is that they have so many saints they wish to honor that they decided to lump all those without a specific day into this one. While some Catholics support Halloween, others oppose it.

Origins

It is believed that Halloween contains many of the remnants of an autumn holiday celebrated by the Druids called Samhain (apparently pronounced “sah-van” though some say SAH win or SOW in–and apparently meaning “summers end”). There historically have been pagan figures with names that are similar to this. For example, there was a Celtic hero named Samain or Sawan who supposedly owned a magical cow. In other pagan religions, there was Samana (“the leveler”) the name of an Aryan God of Death (a.k.a. Yama, Sradhadeva, Antaka, or Kritanta) according to the ancient Veda scriptures of Hinduism and Shamash was the Sun God of the Assyrians and Babylonians. Some of the idea for modern costumes came via France.

Essentially, the timing of Halloween seems to be related to certain movements of the sun. Notice the following:

Halloween is date of astronomical interest. It has to do with seasons: Halloween is a cross-quarter date, approximately midway between an equinox and a solstice. There are four cross-quarter dates throughout the year, and each is a minor holiday: Groundhog Day (Feb. 2nd), May Day (May 1st), Lammas Day (Aug. 1st), and Halloween (Oct. 31st).

“Long ago, the Celts of the British Isles used cross-quarter days to mark the beginnings of seasons. Winter began with Halloween, or as they called it, Samhain,” says John Mosley of the Griffith Observatory.

“Halloween marked the transition between summer and winter, light and dark — and life and death. On that one night, according to folklore, those who had died during the previous year returned for a final visit to their former homes. People set out food and lit fires to aid them on their journey — but remained on guard for mischief the spirits might do.” (Spooky Astronomy. http://spaceweather.com/ present 10/31/07).

Notice that in Asia, versions of this day, somewhat like the Celts and the pre-Hispanic Mexicans, it is celebrated near the first of August:

Japan has its own Halloween-type celebration known as “O-bon,” an old Buddhist holiday meant to honor ancestors. It takes place in mid-August or July. Graves are visited and cleaned, food offerings are made, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide spirits, and a ritualized dance called “bon-odori” takes place to welcome them. On the last day of O-bon, to guide spirits on their journey, the Japanese partake in a ceremony called “Toro nagashi,” in which paper lanterns are floated down a river.

O-bon originates from the Chinese Buddhist celebration of “Ullambana,” which has the same notion that during this time, spirits are able to move among us.

The Ullambana Sutra, a traditionally Indian story, is the scripture that addresses this day, with the story of Mahamaudgalyayana, a disciple of Buddha, whose mother had been reborn into a lower realm. Though interpretations of the story vary, Buddha’s instructions to his student mirror modern practices of the day, which is to offer food and pray for the souls of both living and dead relatives. People also would give donations to monks.

The current celebration in Taiwan and China of the Ghost Festival pays homage to this Buddhist holiday, but includes the practices of burning money, clothes and goods, which are believed to then make it to the spirit world in full, as well as the release of paper boats and lanterns into rivers (Meaning, sanctity of Halloween is lost in translation St. Cloud Times, MN – Oct 21, 2007 http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071021/OPINION/110210041/1006/NEWS01).

Hence, the foundations of Halloween are not only Western, and certainly not of Christian origin.

Satan has successfully gotten many of his holidays endorsed by many cultures and religions of the world.

Druids and Bone Fires

Growing up I was familiar with bonfires, and simply thought that they were warm and provided light. But later I learned that there origins were related to Halloween.

Notice that:

The Druids, and order of priests in ancient Gaul and Britain, believed that on Halloween, ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches, and elves came out to harm people. They thought the cat was sacred and believed that cats had once been human beings but were changed for punishment for their evil deeds. From these Druid beliefs come the present-day use of witches, ghosts, and cats in Halloween festivities…The custom of using leaves, pumpkins, and corn stalks as Halloween decorations comes from the Druids. The early peoples of Europe also had a festival similar to the Druid holiday…In the 700s, the Roman Catholic Church named November 1 as All Saints’ Day. The old pagan customs and the Christian feast day were combined into the Halloween festival [Halloween. World Book, vol 9. Chicago, 1966: 25-26].

The origins of Halloween specifically can be traced back to the ancient Celts (who lived in what is now known as Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern France) and their Druid priests. The end of October commemerated their festival of the waning year…Druids believed that during this season spirits walked, and evil held power over the souls of men. On October 31, their New Year’s Eve, great bonfires were kindled, which were thought to simulate the sun to procure blessings for the entire succeeding year. The fires remained burning as a means to frighten away evil spirits. The Druids held these early Halloween celebrations in honor of Samhain, also known as Lord of the Dead, whose festival fell on November 1. There bonfires, or “bone fires”, were also used in animal and human sacrifice–thus the name. The tradition of lighting a bonfire has continued to modern times (Coulter F.R. Occult Holiday–or–God’s Holy Days–Which? York Publishing Company, Hollister (CA) 2006).

Growing up, no one I knew ever mentioned that bonfires originally were bone fires.

Jack-O-Lanterns

The origin of jack-o-lanterns is somewhat amusing.

The Irish have a story that a man named Jack died who was too much of a miser to be with God and was not allowed to be with the devil since he had played practical jokes on him. Since Jack had nowhere to go, he was to walk the earth carrying a lantern until Judgment Day.  There are other ideas about this as well–but none come from the Bible.

The Bible

In Leviticus chapter 23, it lists

“The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts” (vs.2).

All Saints’ Day is not listed as one of them. All Saints’ Day is not a biblically enjoined feast day for Christians (there is not any hint of it in the Bible; it may even be warned against in Deut 4:15-24). Actually the Bible warns against worshipping God the way the pagans, etc. did (Leviticus 18:3; Deuteronomy 12:31, Jeremiah 10:2-3).

The Bible repeatedly warns against the practices of witches (Exodus 22:18; Deuteronomy 18:10, Galatians 5:20) and dealing with ghosts/etc. (Deuteronomy 18:11, I Chronicles 10:13).

A rising conservative voice says Americans have largely grown ignorant of the principles and motivations surrounding the U.S. founding and America is in the process of fulfilling 200-year-old predictions about what could doom the republic, but he also says it’s not too late to return to the ideals that forged the greatest political experiment in human history.

Joshua Charles is head of the Discovery Project at the Public Policy Institute at William Jessup University…

Charles is well-versed in the writings of Alexis de Tocqueville, the French scholar who famously lavished praise upon the new republic in “Democracy in America.” But for all his marveling at America, Tocqueville also envisioned a series of problems that could derail the nation.

Charles said several of those fears are lining up to come true.

“Essentially, it was all about the development of a narcissistic culture that was bent toward the pursuit of pleasure,” he explained. “There’s other facets to it, but that’s essentially it, where the individual becomes solely about themselves.”

Published in 1840, the full list of Tocqueville’s feared devolution may strike many Americans as chillingly prophetic. He said poor education and a loss of morality would eventually lead material pleasures. He further predicted the Constitution would be intentionally misinterpreted to make it easier to change, and that would lead to bigger and bigger government.

If that were to happen, Tocqueville foresaw political parties fostering divisions in society to maintain and grow power, followed by an increasing coziness between government and financial institutions. He cautioned the result of all this would be mounting debts and greater demands from the people of government money.

Charles strongly believes America can return to its original moorings, but he said it won’t be quick or easy.

“I really do think we can get back on track,” he said. “I think it will take a generation. While Alexis de Tocqueville had some keen insights, it is not his predictions that are to ‘doom America.’

The USA is dooming itself by overlooking predictions in the Bible that were written over a 1000 years before Alexis de Tocqueville was born. The Bible warns about the dangers of the homosexual agenda which the USA is pushing as well as debt.

The Bible shows that there were other societies that have had their own issues of openly advocating sin relationships that their residents seemed to view as acceptable. Notice what happened in a couple of such towns between three thousand and four thousand years ago:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

And why did it happen?

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Why mention this in the 21st century? Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6)

As far as debt goes, notice the following:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything  (Deuteronomy 28:43-45,47)

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…5 Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man… 6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his–how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you (Habakkuk 2:3,5,6-8).

The United States is the most indebted nation in the history of the world.  Much of the leadership of the USA has endorsed the homosexual agenda and the increase of debt (see also CBS: Debt ‘ceiling’ may be hit).

National repentance is the only real long-term hope for the Anglo-Saxon peoples (and it seems to be too late for that).  Despite Joshua Charles’ hope, the USA does not have a generation in order to do that.  God gave humanity approximately 6000 years to live apart from Him with their own ways and governments–and that 6000 years is close to being up (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

Keeping the Ten Commandments reflects love. Breaking them and/or condoning those that do is evil. This should be clear to those who believe the God of the Bible. Thus, the BSA should not consider allowing the homosexuals in.

But many in the USA and other Anglo-Saxon dominated lands seem inclined to truly listen to those who are strongly advocating wrong changes in the moral direction of the land.
