Talks between the European Union and USA related to the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)  are not proceeding well (bolding mine):

Germany’s Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said on Sunday that talks on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a free trade deal being negotiated by the United States and the European Union, had essentially failed.

“The negotiations with the USA have de facto failed because we Europeans did not want to subject ourselves to American demands,” he said, according to a written transcript from German broadcaster ZDF of an interview due to be broadcast on Sunday.

“Things are not moving on that front,” said Gabriel, who is also Germany’s vice chancellor.

BERLIN (AP)  … Sigmar Gabriel, who is also Germany’s Vice Chancellor, compared the TTIP negotiations unfavorably with a free trade deal forged between the 28-nation EU and Canada, which he said was fairer for both sides.

“In my opinion, the negotiations with the United States have de facto failed, even though nobody is really admitting it,” Gabriel said during a question-and-answer session with citizens in Berlin.

He noted that in 14 rounds of talks, the two sides haven’t agreed on a single common item out of 27 chapters being discussed.

Gabriel accused Washington of being “angry” about the deal that the EU struck with Canada, known as CETA, because it contains elements the U.S. doesn’t want to see in the TTIP.

“We mustn’t submit to the American proposals,” said Gabriel, who is also the head of Germany’s center-left Social Democratic Party. …

Gabriel’s comments contrast with those of Chancellor Angela Merkel, who said last month that TTIP was “absolutely in Europe’s interest.”

Popular opposition to a free trade agreement with the United States is strong in Germany. What kind of USA demands related to agriculture? The USA wants to change European agriculture by way of its genetically=modified organisms (GMOs).

Notice a report from the New York Times followed by a report from the Russian Times:

The United States proposal “clearly indicates their pressure to get rid of trade barriers for genetically modified organisms,” Jorgo Riss, the director of Greenpeace’s European unit, said in a telephone interview. The proposal also refers to a “Global Low Level Presence Initiative,” which Mr. Riss said was an American-backed initiative to gain global acceptance of agricultural exports containing traces of unauthorized genetically modified organisms.

In general, opposition to genetically modified organisms, or G.M.O.s, tends to be stronger in Europe than in the United States. Mr. Riss acknowledged there was no direct reference to G.M.O.s in the documents but said the language clearly was aimed at promoting their acceptance. …

Greenpeace accused the American negotiators of trying to weaken environmental protection standards; of taking a laxer approach to product regulation than the Europeans; and of trying to give corporate lobbyists greater say in decision-making.

The President of the United States (POTUS) is desperate. Exhibit A: His Op-Ed defending the Asian face – the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) – of a wide-ranging, twin-headed NATO-on-trade “pivoting”.

The European face is of course the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

POTUS frames TPP – as well as TTIP – in terms of a benign expansion of US exports, and private (US) firms having “a fair shot at competing against state-owned enterprises.” “Fair”? Not really. Let’s see how the mechanism works, focusing on TPP’s European twin. …

The European Union is concerned that it cannot compete well with US agriculture, and having a partial GMO barrier has helped it keep many of its farmers working. It also, in my view, has helped protect the health of Europeans as I do not believe that GMOs have been tested thoroughly enough to insure that they do not have negative consequences on any aspect of human health.

One of the aspects of TTIP that I have warned about for years has been genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Notice one post from back in 2013:

One particularly disturbing aspect for Europeans, in my view, is that they will be expected to import more of the USA’s genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). If there is a major problem with genetically-engineered “foods” in the future (see also GMOs are Dangerous to Human Health), Europeans will remember that the USA somewhat forced them to accept more of them (presuming a deal like is being proposed comes to pass). It should also be noted that while the EU now accepts some GMOs, its resistance is a plus for it in several ways. Also, the EU’s more restrictive use of antibiotics in livestock is also a plus for Europe. Notice something I posted last year:

Furthermore, because of overuse of antibiotics, the USA and many other parts of the world are setting themselves up for the possibility of getting infections from bacteria that are resistant to various antibiotics. Yet, the Europeans and their animals are not quite in the same situation.

This poses a major risk for the USA, Asia, and other places. The USA, Canada, UK, and some other places could get affected and Europe missed. This would weaken the USA and make it more vulnerable to attack from Europe–an attack that will happen according to the Bible (Daniel 11:39). The USA will be weakened before it is attacked and taken over.

Notice that famines and pestilences will happen PRIOR to the start of the Great Tribulation:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:4-8)

Notice that the Great Tribulation itself does not begin until later (see also When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?):

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains…21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:15-16, 21)

The sorrows that Jesus spoke of include ‘troubles’ and famines:

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

Diseases and pests can truly cause troubles. The sorrows will worsen and the Great Tribulation will begin.

By using so many antibiotics in animals, the USA and other places are setting themselves up for ‘super bugs’ which are resistant to most medical interventions. This could cause a dramatic loss of livestock (cf. Deuteronomy 28:18) as well as cause many humans to become sick and even die.

Combine this with the risk that the USA has with more and more of its genetically-modified crops and it becomes apparent that the USA specifically (along with the UK and Canada, which tend to have similar practices) {is} setting itself up for agricultural failure which could lead to famine. The following prophecies will affect the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies:

12 They say to their mothers,”Where is grain and wine?” (Lamentations 2:12)

19 “Arise, cry out in the night, At the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him For the life of your young children, Who faint from hunger at the head of every street.” (Lamentations 2:19)

12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. (Ezekiel 5:12)

The fact that the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries try to deny the risks of using antibiotics in livestock, is not proof that there is no risk. Many Europeans remain opposed to GMOs and I remain convinced that the USA and some others, are subject to major crop failure someday for reliance on GMOs. Since the Bible shows that Europe will dominate trade in the future (Revelation 18) and that the USA will be eliminated (Daniel 11:39), it is my view that Europe will be less dependent upon GMOs than the USA. This will help Europe in the future.

Notice that the Bible tells of a time when a Babylonian European Beast power will control buying and selling and dominate world trade:

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)

19 Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! (Revelation 18:19)

The Bible shows that this will make merchants of the world wealthy (cf. Revelation 18; Ezekiel 27:12-16).

Many European leaders have wanted Europe to take the lead on trade and other matters, and they ultimately will do so according to biblical prophecy. Whether or not TTIP exists.

Also, because of the Brexit, expect to see the UK try to make trade deals directly with the USA and Canada–but this will only help for a short time as all of those nations are doomed without national repentance (cf. Jeremiah 30:7).

Economically, the USA is no longer going to be the head, but the tail (cf. Deuteronomy 28:13,44). This European-dominated new world order will result in the Europeans being on top (but only for a while), and the USA and UK no longer dominant.

Europe continues to want to resist GMOs. European protesters have long referred to TTIP as the “Trojan Treaty,” meaning that what people are told about it and what it really does are not the same. But if Europe hangs tough, it could win over its protesters and make other trade deals.

As far as USA/EU trade goes, for at least two decades, I have believed that a split would happen between the USA and the Europeans partially because of how the Europeans will view how the USA handles/mishandles bilateral trade issues (there are also other factors like USA debt, GMOs, etc.). It remains my view that trade disputes will be a factor in the Europeans taking over the USA. And that WILL HAPPEN (cf. Isaiah 10:5-11; Daniel 11:39).

Furthermore, the current election cycle in the USA will affect trade. This will not end well for the USA.

According to one retired Italian general, the years of Great Britain “sabotaging” any attempt to form a united European army are over after the decision to leave the European Union in June.  …

Gen. Vincenzo Camporini, former head of the Italian general staff ,was one of four European military officials who formed a working group in 1999 to map out a European army, a plan known as the Helsinki Headline Goal.

He explained to Defense News about the years of frustration trying to bring British leaders on board with the idea.

“The UK always opposed funding increases, and three quarters of the agency’s budget is absorbed by salaries, leaving it as a body whose scope is survival,” he said. “It was clear that after its early enthusiasm, UK sentiment for EU defense cooled.”

But now, Camporini is ready to take the next step and is looking for potential members.

“The British attitude was an excuse for other — some people hid behind the UK. Now the excuse is no longer there; who is ready to go forward? I believe the Germans are willing, although I have doubts about France because of its nuclear deterrent. Will that be shared? The drive to create a joint European army appears to be gaining momentum with the Czech Republic and Hungary both speaking out in favor of deeper defense ties on the continent, in moves which are likely to rile NATO.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has championed the move to create a joint defense force on a number of occasions, says that a joint European army was needed to ensure security.

“We should list the issue of security as a priority, and we should start setting up a common European army,” he said on Friday, during a meeting between Hungarian, Czech, Polish, Slovak leaders and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Warsaw, as cited by Retuers.

In July, Orban, who is a staunch critic of the EU’s migration policies, said that the union must look to create its own military following the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the bloc.

“We need a real army, in which there’ll be understanding; in which the orders are given to the same language,” the Hungarian PM said.

His Czech counterpart Bohuslav Sobotka is also in favor of deeper European defense cooperation. He says it is a priority due to the need to secure Europe’s borders and respond to growing security threats from places such as the Middle East, adding: “we should also begin a discussion about creating a common European army,” according to AFP.

“Certainly the Czech Republic can imagine stronger cooperation in the military area, integration of units, common exercises, and above all securing the capacity to organize operations to support common European foreign policy,” he said.

At the same time, Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo has called for a European border guard to be set up to protect the union’s external frontier.

Chancellor Merkel has supported the idea of increasing security across the bloc, however she has urged caution about how this should be carried out.

This is a very interesting development.

Why?

The Bible teaches that a coming European King of the North (the “He” below) will end up with a great army:

25 He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army. (Daniel 11:25)

So, it is prophetically interesting now that we see more and more leaders in Europe calling for a European army.

While some do not think that Europe is organized in a manner to have a great army, the Bible also teaches that Europe will reorganize:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

The Baltic German nobility was in charge of Estonia for over 700 years, and German was the official language until Estonia’s independence in 1918. …

Staunchly pro-EU, budget-disciplined, and oriented toward business, Estonia has become a loyal political and economic ally to Merkel’s government.

And the European Union is high on the agenda during Merkel’s visit. “The main topic of our meeting is the future of the EU,” Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas told DW. “There are some fundamental issues to be clarified: where Europe is going, which values we want to hold on to and protect, and the choices to be made for the sake of a strong and functioning union.”

Estonian officials are looking for German military support.  …

Germany will send up to 1,000 soldiers to Lithuania, and a Bundeswehr unit arrived in Estonia last month, where it is participating in exercises and will remain through the end of September. German special forces participated in a recent training exercise against terrorism in Estonia.

Germany’s air force has repeatedly taken responsibility for patrolling the skies over Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as part of the NATO mission – the Baltic states do not have their own airborne defense capabilities. A week before the UK vote on leaving the EU, Lech Walesa, one of Poland’s most famous leaders (and former president) called for German leadership of Europe if there was a Brexit (see German Defense Minister states that Germany is now ready to lead Europe militarily). More and more in Europe are looking towards Germany for their economic and military security.

A European military is in the process of forming.

The Bible shows that a German-dominated power will arise (Isaiah 10:5-11) and the world will marvel at its military ability (Revelation 13:3-4). It will defeat the USA (Daniel 11:39), but later face problems from Russia and its allies (Daniel 11:44-45).

We are seeing more and more call for an army consistent with end-time biblical prophecies.

Is 2016 Mekudeshet Festival leading to a One-World Religion?

The 2016 Mekudeshet Festival might accurately be dubbed a predecessor of the one world religion. Christians, Jews and Muslims are flocking to the Holy City for a “spiritual gathering” dubbed Amen—A House of Prayer For All Believers.

The goal of the event is to create “a single home for the world’s three major religions to harness the city’s ancient powers to inspire artists, musicians and cultural figures from around the world to redefine their art and traditions and connect amid troubling times.”

“We will see if it is possible, despite all the corporeal difficulties and earthly obstacles, to create a new reality,” says Mekudeshet artistic director Itay Mautner. …

“Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways,” says Pope Francis when speaking to a similar audience recently. “In this crowd, in this range of religions, there is only one certainty we have for all: We are all children of God.”

The Bible teaches that there’s only one way to the Father – through Jesus Christ. To suggest anything else causes confusion and deceives.

A new interfaith and spiritual gathering of Christians, Jews and Muslims will take place in Jerusalem this September.

There will soon be an ecumenical gathering between the three monotheist faiths. Thee event will take place from September 4-23, 2016. This monumental event will occur in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The leaders of the multi-religious, pagan event, have named this unholy gathering as “Mekudeshet”. They have announced plans to perform an 11 day consecration. This can only mean one thing. This is the beginning of the mandatory One World Religion. This is something that Francis has been working towards. However, this is not the only thing that the Pope, or more accurately, the anti-Pope has been pursuing over the last couple of years. …

This is the same Pope who has stated that Islam and Christianity are basically one and the same religion. This false doctrine sets the stage for the official state sponsored (United Nations) approved religion which we commonly call Gaia which is about as a pagan of a religion that there is. Some have wondered if Pope Francis will declare a one world religion from Jerusalem during that conference. While the world is not quite willing to accept that yet type of declaration, the time will come when what becomes the world’s religion will be widely accepted.

Notice who the Bible says the world will worship one day:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:1-8)

The ‘sea’ mentioned above is called “the Great Sea” in Daniel’s vision of the Beasts (Daniel 7:2-8) and is the Mediterranean Sea (cf. (Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16). Here is a link to a video titled: Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?

Pope Francis even has won the Charlemagne Prize for his work on European unity (see Pope Francis given ‘Charlemagne Prize;’ EU leaders worried about EU’s future). He is working on political and religious unity.

It should be an affront to all who call themselves Christian to state that Muslims and Jews are ‘believers.’ Yet, Pope Francis and others are promoting “Amen-A House of Prayer For All Believers” at the 2016 Mekudeshet Festival.

As I stated on WOCA radio two days ago (click on Dr. Bob Thiel Interview – Hillary Clinton), one MUST accept Jesus in order to be saved.  The Apostle Peter made that clear in Acts 2:38 as well as in Acts 4:

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’  12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:8-12)

Pope Francis is promoting a false gospel (cf. Galatians 1:6-9; view also Galatians 1 and the False Gospel).

From his Laudato Si encyclical to his endorsement of the United Nation’s ‘New Universal Agenda’ to his recent statements at World Youth Day (Pope Francis promotes worldly ecumenical and interfaith agenda at ‘World Youth Day mass’ in Poland), etc. Pope Francis has demonstrated he does not believe that it will take Kingdom of God to solve humanities’ ills. He promotes an ecumenical, interfaith, agenda that is contrary to Christianity (see also BibleNewsProphecy: Pope Francis dreams of a Babylonian utopia).

Does that make him an Antipope?

To some it clearly does.

A while back, Australian Cardinal George Pell even hinted that may be so (see Australian Cardinal hints Francis could be an antipope; US Cardinal also expresses doubts about Pope Francis an/or watch Anti-Pope Francis?).

What is an antipope/anti-pope? Here is a short definition from The Catholic Encyclopedia:

Antipope

A false claimant of the Holy See in opposition to a pontiff canonically elected. (“Antipope.” The Catholic Encyclopedia. Vol. 1. New York: Robert Appleton Company, 1907. Nihil Obstat. March 1, 1907. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York. 25 Feb. 2013 <http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01582a.htm> )

While historically most have considered that antipopes falsely claimed the Roman Bishopric when others had it, I would contend that it is reasonable to conclude that one who was elected under false pretenses would also be a false claimant and hence antipope. Or if a pope changed and became demonically-possessed, such as the situation involving the False Prophet of Revelation 16:13, would that not make him an antipope? Most Catholics, at least now, would tend to agree that such a one would be a false claimant to the papal role. If so, that would seem to make him an antipope.

Although there have not been any recognized antipopes for several centuries, The Catholic Encyclopedia shows a list of thirty individuals that have been considered antipopes (Ibid) .This is roughly one for every ten claimed “Bishops of Rome.”

To many in the world, he looks like a lamb (cf. Revelation 13:11a), but his words are really those of a dragon (Revelation 13:11b).

Notice something from a Catholic priest:

Priest E. Sylvester Berry (published 1920): The two horns denote a twofold authority  spiritual and temporal. As indicated by the resemblance to a lamb, the prophet will probably set himself up in Rome as a sort of anti-pope. Antichrist will establish himself in Jerusalem with his ‘lying wonders’ (Berry ES.  The Apocalypse of St. John, 1920.  Quoted in Culleton RG. The Reign of Antichrist.  Reprint 1974, TAN Books, Rockford (IL), pp. 199-200).

Notice that the above Catholic scholar ties the Antipope with the Antichrist and with Rome.

Pope Francis is working on unity, but is not likely to be the last one to do so (watch also Anti-Pope Francis?).

What about the idea of unity now?

Jesus did NOT come to bring worldwide unity in this age:

51 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. (Luke 12:51)

The Apostle Paul taught that true unity of faith would not happen until after Jesus returns:

13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (Ephesians 4:13)

Those who believe this unity comes prior to Jesus’ return are in error. We are not ‘perfect’ until after He comes (cf. 1 John 1:8). The prophesied unity of faith does not happen prior to Jesus’ return.

The beginning of this post shows a poster for European Babylonian unity. The poster has a tower that strongly resembles the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11.  The Bible warns of the rise of a coming Babylonian religious unity in the end times (Revelation 17), that is tied to the ‘great city’ (Revelation 17:18) that sits on seven-hills (Revelation 17:9)–that is Rome. Even Catholic scholars realize that Revelation 17 is a reference to Rome (see What Do Roman Catholic Scholars Actually Teach About Early Church History?).

Christians are warned not to be part of this false, Babylonians, ecumenical unity:

2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. (Revelation 18:2-5)

Notice also some passages from the Old Testament:

6 “Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the Lord; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the Lord. 7 “Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” (Zechariah 2:6-7)

Notice that even true believers are warned to get away from this. The next few verses tell about the timing and that God will cause the unity He wants:

8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.

10 “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the Lord. 11 “Many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the Lord will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” (Zechariah 2:8-13)

So, the Bible is saying that GOD–not a ‘new humanity’–will bring unity. And that does not come until AFTER Jesus returns. What Pope Francis and others are trying to do next month is in opposition to the Bible.

Also, understand that the Bible also teaches that when Jesus actually returns, He will destroy the unity of nations that are against Him (Revelation 11:15-18, 19:6,19-21).

The Bible says that Jesus is the ‘Prince of Peace’ (Isaiah 9:6) and it will take the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the millennial kingdom of God to bring peace–not the false interfaith/ecumenical movement–which is what Pope Francis seems to mean when he calls for a “new humanity.”

Continued and solid job growth in the United States has made it more likely that the Federal Reserve will raise its short-term interest rates in the coming weeks or months. The upbeat assessment of the U.S. economy came Friday during a much anticipated speech by Fed Chair Janet Yellen in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

“In light of the continued solid performance of the labor market and our outlook for economic activity and inflation, I believe the case for an increase in the federal funds rate has strengthened in recent months,” Yellen said.

Yellen gave no indication of when rates might rise, but her remarks open the possibility that an announcement could come in late September, when central bank officials meet again. Another possibility is after the Fed meeting in December. Most analysts tell VOA a rate hike in November — so close to a U.S. presidential election — is unlikely.

Market reaction has been generally positive. The Federal Fund’s rate, the rate the central bank charges other banks on overnight loans, has remained near record lows since late 2008 to stimulate business and consumer spending. The last time the Fed raised its rates was nine months ago. Janet Yellen had hinted about raising interest rates last December, but as of this instant, still has not done so.

WASHINGTON — Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen told Congress Thursday that economic conditions appear to be improving enough for policymakers to raise interest rates when they meet in two weeks — as long as there are no major shocks that undermine confidence.

Yellen said that even after the first rate hike, the Fed expects future rate increases will be at a gradual pace that will keep borrowing costs low for consumers and businesses.

“Were the FOMC to delay the start … for too long,” she said, referring to the rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee, “we would likely end up having to tighten policy relatively abruptly to keep the economy from overshooting” the Fed’s goals for unemployment and inflation.

Janet Yellen’s view last year that increasing rates sooner and gradually is less disruptive to the economy was correct.

But that will not stave off what will ultimately happen.

The USA has been playing financial games that will contribute to its destruction in the long-run. Artificially controlling interest rates (keeping them lower than what a market without government invention of false assets) makes most feel that the USA has its financial condition under control. But that is not the case.

Consider that the total US debt, as of yesterday $19,472,203,761,101.76.

Should interest rates ever rise above 19% or so, then the interest cost on the debt alone will equal the total of ALL expected US federal government spending.

While that may seem far fetched to some, the interest rates at some point in time will rise past that level and the USA dollar will be worth little more than the cotton-paper it is often printed on (much USA money is actually electronic only, and electronic entries at some point in time will have no particular value).

You might think, well, why don’t you use more historically likely rates, say 8%. Well at 8%, assuming a US$20 trillion debt, then just the payment of interest will be nearly one-half of all federal spending. And since it is not likely that the politicians will cut the other spending to compensate, we can properly conclude that the USA would then increase its total debt at an even higher clip.

America’s Day of Reckoning 2017 Dollar Collapse?

Economist James Dale Davidson says that a financial bloodbath will hit the USA and there is nothing that Washington can do to stop it. He claims that at least 57 nations have gotten together to dethrone the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency. He claims this can happen any day or in a few months. He mentions China, Russia, the AIIB, and gold. He claims his track record in predicting massive shifts in the past should assure people that he is right about this. He claims that there will be massive unemployment, near elimination of social security benefits, and more. Is James Dale Davidson possibly right on any of this? Dr. Thiel goes over many of his claims and explains what the Bible shows related to the coming collapse of the US dollar.

USA Ushering in the Collapse of its Currency This Year?

According to financial reporter Porter Stansberry, the USA is ushering in the collapse of the US dollar through its debt, regulations such as FATCA, and other policies. Porter Stansberry proposed that marshal law could be implemented in the USA. Is any of this possible? Will there end up being a collapse of the USA dollar? While parts of FATCA have been delayed, will the USA end up losing its economic dominance? What does Bible prophecy reveal?

While as I have been publicly stating, the USA dollar will not collapse in 2016, the USA has taken steps to encourage others in the world to look for a way to replace the USA dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency. The IMF formally announced a couple of days ago, to include China’s currency in the “basket of currencies” for its SDR (Special Drawing Rights) (see IMF adding China’s currency to its basket).

There will be ‘bumps in the road’ until the Europeans (Daniel 2:41-43) and others are able to replace the USA dollar. There even could be an extended time that the USA dollar will remain on top.

But that will change quickly.

Notice what the Bible prophesies:

3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. (1 Thessalonians 5:3-4)

2 And the Lord answered me:

“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.

4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.

5 “Moreover, wine is a traitor,
an arrogant man who is never at rest.
His greed is as wide as Sheol;
like death he has never enough.
He gathers for himself all nations
and collects as his own all peoples.”

6 Shall not all these take up their taunt against him, with scoffing and riddles for him, and say,

“Woe to him who heaps up what is not his own—
for how long?—
and loads himself with pledges!”
7 Will not your debtors suddenly arise,
and those awake who will make you tremble?
Then you will be spoil for them.
8 Because you have plundered many nations,
all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you,
for the blood of man and violence to the earth,
to cities and all who dwell in them. (Habakkuk 2:2-8; English Standard Version)

The arrogance of political leaders in increasing the debt will not happen forever. The USA is the most indebted nation in the history of humanity and those in it should try to understand this prophecy.

While Janet Yellen hopes that something like what Habakkuk 2:7-8 will not happen, it will come to pass. Her policies and pronouncements will NOT be able to save the USA financially.

Those who think the current world order with the USA’s dollar on top will last through the end of this century are in error.

A read sent me a link to the September 2016 Grace Communion International letter from Joseph Tkach (Jr.):

While we have long enjoyed our home office being located in Southern California, the location in the USA isn’t necessarily a huge factor impacting our international operations. However, when we focus on how we can better serve our US congregations, location becomes a more important factor.

Southern California has served us well, yet over time the cost of living has reached the point where consideration has to be given to relocating.

It reminds me of an old joke that is still funny every time I hear it. A man walks into his boss’s office and says: “Sir, I’ll be straight with you, I know the economy isn’t great, but I have three companies after me, and I would like to respectfully ask for a raise.” After a few minutes of haggling, the boss finally agrees to a 5% raise and the employee happily gets up to leave.

“By the way,” asks the boss, “Which three companies are after you?” The employee quickly answers, “The electric company, the water company, and the phone company!”

A major consideration for relocation is that we can cut our overhead (i.e., cost of doing business in California) by $500,000 per year. While this may seem reason enough to move out of California, there are other advantages.

Our Glendora church property has significantly increased in value; by relocating, we would access some of that accrued equity to go directly into our mission of the gospel proclamation. Every time I attend any of our regional conferences or visit one of our churches, several members and ministers suggest their location as a great venue for our church headquarters. It is true there are many locations with a lower cost of living.

Another significant factor to consider in relocation is 65% of our congregations are in the eastern half of the continental US. …

After much prayerful deliberation, our Board of Directors has concluded that relocating to North Carolina would fulfill these desirable requirements. …

It will take the next 18 months to complete all the tasks necessary to relocate. We will announce when we finalize our selection of property in a new location and the work on selling the current property.

The former Worldwide Church of God, after it ceased to be an actual Church of God, changed its name to Grace Communion International.

The Living Church of God also relocated to North Carolina from California years ago to save money.

I would add that cost of living and operating costs are not the only factor in determining where a church should be based.

One of the reasons that the Continuing Church of God, for example, remains in California, is that it is one of very few states that allows a church to fully legally operate in accordance with proper church governance (see also The Bible, Peter, Paul, John, Polycarp, Herbert W. Armstrong, Roderick C. Meredith, and Bob Thiel on Church Government).

How so?

California is one of few states that still allows churches to be established as a corporation sole. This was the type of structure that the late Herbert W. Armstrong realized later in his life that allowed the type of legal governance that he advocated.

Groups like the Living Church of God basically try to have that, which they do another way. But in my view, a corporation sole is currently the best option, and so for now, the Continuing Church of God intends to remains in California.

As far as Grace Communion International goes, it can do what it wishes.  It no longer holds to most COG doctrines and professes an ecumenical agenda.  An agenda that will NOT end well (cf. Revelation 18).

Retired teacher Bert Otten, who was once part of the old WCG, sent me a paper with his reasons why he feels that many in Belgium and Luxembourg are the descendants of the biblical tribe of Asher. He told me that I could edit and/or use what he sent in any way.

Here is some of his article, along with the ten clues, with portions of the explanations edited out, mainly for space considerations:

Looking at the ‘prophetic clues’ one has to conclude that a core of the tribe of Asher once found its way to the people living in Belgium and Luxemburg (especially in the triangle Roermond-Lille-Nancy-Roermond)…

1^st Clue: Asher – happy

And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a second son. And Leah said, HAPPY am I [b_ashri], for the daughters will call me BLESSED [ishruni]: and she called his name Asher [asher: blessed, happy] (Gen 30:12-13).

And Zilpah Leah’s handmaid bore Jacob a second son. And Leah said: ‘HAPPY am I! for the daughters will call me HAPPY.’ And she called his name Asher [HAPPY or BLESSED] (Gen 30: 12-13, JPS, Jewish Publication Society).

After four sons Leah has two more sons by her maid-servant Zilpah. Asher is Jacob’s 8th son. They will call me happy, and she names him ‘blessed, happy’, Asher! This predicts Asher’s nature: jovial, genial, friendly.

The national character of most Belgians in general, and Walloons in particular, is that they are jovial, genial, friendly…

2^nd Clue: Asher – his bread shall be fat

As for Asher, his BREAD [lechem] shall be FAT [shamen] … (Gen 49:20a, KJV).

Asher’s FOOD will be RICH … (Gen 49:20a, NIV).

Literally it says that Asher’s bread will be fat. It is noteworthy that bread in England and Holland has the form of a big brick, a loaf. In France they sell the typical French bread, long thin pieces of bread. In Belgium they sell bread in big, round, ‘fat’, loaves.

However, lechem also means food in general, and not just bread. Asher’s food would be rich in content, and it would be plenteous…

3^rd Clue: Asher – royal dainties

Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal DAINTIES (Gen 49:20b).

[Asher] will provide DELICACIES fit for a king (Gen 49:20b, NIV).

This is up to a point a repeat of the fact that Asher’s food would be fat or rich. We think of all the delicacies – fries, mussels, oysters, fish, venison, etc. – served in the Belgian cuisine, but ‘delicacies’ contains much more…

Ma’adan – or (feminine) ma’adannah {mah-ad-an-naw’}; from ‘`adan’ (Strong, 5727); a delicacy or (abstractly) pleasure (adverbially, cheerfully):–dainty, delicately, delight.

Some writers about the tribes link this with the typical Belgian delicate tapestries (made for royalty!) and with Belgian lace…

4^th Clue: Asher – friendly & favoured

And of Asher he said: Blessed be Asher above sons; let him be the FAVOURED of his brethren … (Dt 33:24, JPS).

Belgians – kind, friendly

Although Belgians may fight between themselves about language problems – a bloodless struggle – they are perceived by others as kind, friendly people. To my knowledge there are not many people who hate Belgians. The French and the Dutch may joke about Belgians, but they do not dislike them. The fact that they are liked by their neighbours, by other tribes, has favourable to them over time…

5^th Clue: Asher – … iron … under your shoe

Thy shoes shall be IRON and brass … (Dt 33:25).

The modern fulfilment of this statement concerning Asher’s oil can be found in palm oil which Belgium extracted from the Belgian Congo for years. Wikipedia: Palm oil production in the Congo increased from 2,500 tons in 1914 to 9,000 tons in 1921 and 230,000 tons in 1957.

Palm oil is an important ingredient in food and non-food products like margarine, chocolate, cleaning products and cosmetics. Palm oil has become one of the most important vegetable oils.

Leah Tribes

Leah had eight sons, six of herself and two by her maidservant Zilpah. She named all eight of them. So there are eight Leah tribes (and five Racheltribes)… There is a bond between Asher, Issachar and Zebulun in both antiquity and in modern times…Over the past 60 years there has been a close cooperation between these peoples within the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg). They live closely together as they once did in Galilee, in Erets Yisrael.

9^th Clue: Asher – mighty men of valour

All these were the children of Asher, heads of their father’s house, choice and MIGHTY MEN OF VALOUR, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war and to battle was 26,000 men (1Chron 7:40).

And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, EXPERT IN WAR, 40,000 (1 Chron 12:36).

There were a few militaristic tribes, but Asher was not one of them. However, the Asherites were brave fighters. Although not an aggressive tribe, they could hold their ground when called upon…

Belgae – Julius Caesar

In his book Commentarii de bello GallicoJulius Caesar divides the Celts into three groups. The most northern group are the Belgae living in the area between the North Sea, Rhine, Seine and Marne. According to Caesar the Belgae were the bravest of the three groups. This quote from Caesar became very popular in the 1830’s in an attempt to enflame Belgian nationalism…

10^th Clue: Asher – peaceable, peaceful

And the prince of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of SHELOMI (Strong <08015>, shlomi, peacable) (Num 34:27).

The tribe of Asher is a peaceful tribe, not looking for war or trouble. This can first of all be concluded by the absence of things. There are no violent, negative, warlike stories or individuals known from the tribe of Asher in the Bible. Asher has a modest Biblical history with an absence of ringleaders in evil. The prince of Asher in Numbers 34 is even called Ahihud ben Shlomi, son of Shlomi (peaceful).

Asher is very modest in The Testament of Asher. There is no bragging like in some of the other testaments of the twelve patriarchs.

The olive tree is the symbol of Asher. This can also be connected to peace, as the olive branch is a symbol of peace.

Belgians – neutral & peaceful

The Belgians were more or less given their independence and their colonies. They were neutral twice and were invaded twice by the Germans. They fought bravely in WW I and WW II to defend themselves and their colonies, but they never attacked other nations.

I should add that we have been to Belgium at least twice and Luxembourg at least once. There may also be some of Zebulon and Reuben in Belgium.

The Bible records various promises made to the tribes of Israel in Genesis 48, Genesis 49, and Deuteronomy 33. Many seem to have overlooked those, but those prophecies have been, and will be fulfilled.

While there are various ways to look at those and other prophecies, let me conclude by stating that I do believe that those of Belgium and Luxembourg are essentially descended from biblical Asher, though there is ethnic intermingling.

Knowing where various peoples have come from, help us better understand how the Bible teaches that various ones will be affected by end time events that are still to come to pass.

Donald Trump Will Struggle to Reinvent Himself as ‘Mr. Brexit’

Donald Trump … On Wednesday night, he introduced a surprise guest to crowds in Jackson, Mississippi—one Nigel Farage, former leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP).

In sharing a stage with Farage, Trump is seeking to channel the rebellious spirit of the British voters who rejected the E.U. He apparently sees parallels between his own campaign and that of the Brexiteers, figuring he too can overcome the polls and the disapproval of the establishment to win a historic victory. Last week, he even told his Twitter followers “they will soon be calling me MR BREXIT.”

Those parallels do exist. The winds that powered Trump to victory in the Republican Party primaries also helped steer Britain away from the E.U. in June. Distrust of the establishment. A desire to retake control from elites. A fear of a changing country. So, Donald Trump is supposed to possibly be the USA’s “Mr. Brexit.” Well, that is to be seen.  But he was the most known vocal USA leader who supported the Brexit before it the vote happened.

Now, while Nigel Farage and Donald Trump are essentially appealing to nationalism and away from globalism, others have wondered if the Brexit vote means the end of the quest for European unity–no, it does not mean that.

Brexit is NOT the End of the EU

I do not believe that Brexit means that the European Union is going to break up. Or that it spells the end of the euro as a currency. I’ve been very bullish on Europe and the Euro in the past. …

Now the important thing to understand is the European Union is not primarily an economic project. …

The way to think about the European Union, ask yourself, “Does the political will exist to keep it together?” Clearly, in the U.K., it didn’t. They left, but I could write a separate book on why the U.K. was never a good fit with the E.U. to begin with. Look, if the Brexit had been the Netherlands or Italy or Spain or someone like that, I would have a much more pessimistic or dire outlook for Europe, but it wasn’t. It was the U.K., and the U.K. has always been different. …

Germany, France, Spain,Netherlands, Italy and others large countries have a legal system goes all the way back to the end of the Roman Empire, or to code of Justinian, Charlemagne, through to the Napoleonic code in the late 18th, early 19th century. It’s what’s called a code-based system of law.

Contrast that with the U.K., which has the common law, and the common law is what was exported to the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and sort of the English-speaking world. Common law and code law are completely different. It’s not just that the rules are different, it’s the mindset is different. …

Europe is solid. The U.K. leaving is a big deal economically. It’s a big deal for the U.K., and it will cause aftershocks, which we’re watching. One of the aftershocks will not be the breakup of the European Union. It will not be the end of the Euro. In fact, I expect the Euro to get stronger from here, again going back to the Shanghai Accord.

If you’re asking if there will be crises, yes, there will be crises. …

My forecast for Europe; there will be crises. There will absolutely be crises, coming in the Italian banking system, probably Deutsche Bank. We’re probably going to be hearing more about Portugal. We’re probably going to be hearing about Greece again, because Greece never goes away. I’m not denying any of that. That will come, that will cause volatility. The Bible is clear that Europe will unify, but still have problems:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

Brexit is an issue, but the UK was not one of the ‘ten toes’ that Daniel referred to.  Europe, as Jim Rickards pointed out, will have crises.

As far as the ten toes, these seem to be the same as the ten kingdoms that come into being when Europe will reorganize as discussed in the Book of Revelation:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

The late Herbert W. Armstrong was of the view that a banking problem of some sort would lead to the final formation of the European Beast power. In a sermon on July 7, 1984, he stated:

And I can see now, the event that is going to trigger the formation of the reunification in Europe; the resurrection of the medieval Holy Roman Empire that we’ve been looking forward to that is prophesied to come…

But I believe that some event is going to happen suddenly just like out a blue sky that is going to shock the whole world and is going to cause the nations in Europe to realize they must unite!

It would seem that a combination of economic and immigrant issues will be factors in triggering the rise of the prophesied European Beast power.

The Brexit vote, as Jim Rickards properly pointed out, will not change that.

Neither will Donald Trump. Actually his presence has tended to galvanize some in Europe against the USA–and that will happen (Daniel 11:39).

The German government told its citizens on Wednesday to stockpile at least a week’s worth of food and water in case of a serious attack or catastrophe, Reuters reported. It is the first time since the Cold War that Germany has enforced an emergency preparedness plan for the entire nation.

“The population will be obliged to hold an individual supply of food for ten days,” read the 70-page plan, called the “Concept for Civil Defense”, prepared by the Interior Ministry.

Citizens will also be required to store five days’ worth of drinking water. …

According to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, the plan calls for all Germans to “prepare appropriately for a development that could threaten our existence and cannot be categorically ruled out in the future.”

It also lays out precautionary steps for terror scenarios, chemical attacks, and cyber attacks, and outlines the demand for an effective alarm system which could notify citizens of emergencies. The plan suggests improvements on protection for buildings and emergency medical care as well.

In addition, the report states that civilians should be ready to assist the military with urgent tasks in the case of an emergency, such as directing traffic, providing accommodation for people in need, and finding fuel, said Reuters. …

The preparation or “prepper” movement in America, while not government-mandated, operates in similar anticipation of an apocalyptic event of some sort. After the German government told its citizens to stockpile food and water in case of a catastrophe, the Czech government is also now reportedly warning its population to prepare for the worst.

On Sunday, Frankfurter Allgemmeine Sonntagszeitung (FAZ) reported that the German government is set to enact a new “Concept for Civil Defence” which will “require the population to stockpile enough food for ten days.”

On the other side of the border, Czech media is reporting that the country’s food reserves are “struggling” and would be incapable of meeting demand in the event of a national crisis. Supplies of milk powder are particularly low.

The government is calling on citizens to increase their “self-sufficiency” and “food safety” by stockpiling more food.

According to Israeli Live News’ Steven Ben-DeNoon, a resident of the Czech Republic, news stations reporting on the story out of Germany also revealed how the Czech government is telling its citizens to “be prepared for the worst case possible scenario,” which is likely to be a large scale catastrophic terror attack or a nuclear disaster.

As we reported earlier this month, Czech President Miloš Zeman is also pushing for a change to the law that would make it easier for citizens to own firearms in order to defend themselves against jihadists.

Having previously been against private gun ownership, Zeman now says “citizens should arm themselves” to deal with the threat of Islamic terrorism.

Gun sales in France and Germany are also skyrocketing as a response to the millions of Muslim migrants pouring into Europe and a spate of terror attacks across Europe over the last two months.

Last month, the head of the French police cautioned that the country was on the verge of a “civil war” that could be sparked by more terror attacks or mass molestation like the one in Cologne on New Year’s Eve.

Last year, Swiss army chief André Blattmann warned that the risk of social unrest in Europe was intensifying and that citizens should arm themselves.

Danish Professor Helmuth Nyborg also commented in April that “civil war” was the most likely outcome of current EU immigration policies. http://www.infowars.com/report-czech-government-tells-citizens-to-prepare-for-the-worst/

While food storage for emergencies is quite logical (see also Physical Preparation Scriptures for Christians), many do not realize that Europe is getting more and more prepared for unrest and war.

I have written for years that civil war could come to Europe because of Islam, and some others are now starting to think this could happen. I also did a video: War is Coming Between Europeans and Arabs.

Of course, Russia remains a concern for Europeans, particularly many who were once behind the ‘iron-curtain’ (see also Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future).

Notice that Estonia, a nation once dominated by Germany, is now relying on Germany for military protection:

The Baltic German nobility was in charge of Estonia for over 700 years, and German was the official language until Estonia’s independence in 1918. …

Staunchly pro-EU, budget-disciplined, and oriented toward business, Estonia has become a loyal political and economic ally to Merkel’s government.

And the European Union is high on the agenda during Merkel’s visit. “The main topic of our meeting is the future of the EU,” Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas told DW. “There are some fundamental issues to be clarified: where Europe is going, which values we want to hold on to and protect, and the choices to be made for the sake of a strong and functioning union.”

Estonian officials are looking for German military support. After Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and subsequent military incursions into Ukraine, Estonian officials grew concerned about their eastern neighbor again. …

Germany will send up to 1,000 soldiers to Lithuania, and a Bundeswehr unit arrived in Estonia last month, where it is participating in exercises and will remain through the end of September. German special forces participated in a recent training exercise against terrorism in Estonia.

Germany’s air force has repeatedly taken responsibility for patrolling the skies over Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as part of the NATO mission – the Baltic states do not have their own airborne defense capabilities. German jets will return to Estonia’s Amari Air Base again this September. …

Merkel will speak on digital cooperation between the countries and receive a briefing on how Estonia’s electronic services, such as the digital signature, work in practice.

A week before the UK vote on leaving the EU, Lech Walesa, one of Poland’s most famous leaders (and former president) called for German leadership of Europe if there was a Brexit (see German Defense Minister states that Germany is now ready to lead Europe militarily). More and more in Europe are looking towards Germany for their economic and military security.

The Bible shows that a German-dominated power will arise (Isaiah 10:5-11) and the world will marvel at its military ability (Revelation 13:3-4). It will defeat the USA (Daniel 11:39), but later face problems from Russia and its allies (Daniel 11:44-45).

As far as ‘prepping’ goes, Jesus predicted food shortages and related disruptions:

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, 4 Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?”

5 And Jesus, answering them, began to say: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 6 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. 7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them. 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 11 But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 12 Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 13 And you will be hated by all men for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved… Mark 13:3-13).

But won’t God provide?

“The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish” (Proverbs 10:3).

Yes, He will, but look at the next verses,

“He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in the summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son of shame” (Proverbs 10:4-5).

So, the Bible speaks well of those who gather in the seasons when they can.

What else should be done?

“A prudent man forsees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished” (Proverbs 22:3).

“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing” (Matthew 24:43-46).

“gather His wheat into the barn” (Matthew 3:12).

Thus, people who believe the Bible will take steps and not ignore what is happening today.

In the parable of the virgins, the wise are prepared and rewarded, but the foolish are unprepared and turned away (Matthew 25:1-13); while it is true that this parable (and the other scriptures quoted) have spiritual meanings, it does suggest that Christians should also be prepared physically.

Some do not think there will be a problem because things seem to be the same. Is that the acceptable biblical criteria?

“For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matthew 24:38-39).

But what about all the official assurances we will be receiving?

“For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’, then sudden destruction comes upon them” (I Thessalonians 5:3).

“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city and buy and sell, and make a profit’; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow…But now you boast in arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you” (James 4:13,16,17; 5:1).

Are not the peoples in the first world countries rich?

Does the Bible teach that we are to ignore problems?

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that will he reap…Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:7,10).

“The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly” (Proverbs 26:16).

“But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror, for he observes himself, goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man he was” (James 1:22-24).

And preparation certainly makes a lot of sense.

It perhaps should be pointed out that various ones believe that they know the safest places to flee to or to be in when trouble comes (watch 10 Safest Nations to be in During WWIII), but biblically most are in error.

I should state that I do not believe we in the Western nations will need to flee this year as according to scripture, the Great Tribulation cannot begin before 2020. But we now seem to be in the time that Jesus referred to as “the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:4-8), and preparation during this time appears wise. As I wrote much earlier about y2k, I suspected that the y2k rollover would not be the actual test, but perhaps a pretest to see who would prepare.

I would also add, however, that those who believe that they can personally prepare physically to ride-out the Great Tribulation and Day of the Lord are likely deceiving themselves as there will be many problems that they will not have been able to anticipate, nor do I believe that Christians should be so focused on physical protection that they trust in themselves.

Notice also:

25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. (Matthew 16:25-27)

But there is still value in preparation. And some governments in Europe are seeing this as well.

I believe that some physical preparations are wise in these end days, but only with the realization that God is our protector and only He can protect from what is coming (and He has made such a provision, please see There is a Place of Safety for the Philadelphians. Why it May Be Petra).
