Doing something that the USA should have done over a decade ago, 16 European nations said no to genetically-modified corn:

EU member state experts have again failed to approve new licences for two new GM maize varieties to be grown in the European Union … So far, 19 individual countries or regions have already declared they will not allow GMs to be grown on their territory – including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland within the UK. https://www.fwi.co.uk/arable/gm-maize-cultivation-blocked-brussels.htm

A majority of EU countries voted on Monday against allowing two new genetically modified crops to be grown in Europe, batting the contentious decision on cultivation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) in Europe back to the EU executive.

EU governments were asked to vote on the future of two grades of GM maize, Pioneer’s 1507 and Syngenta’s Bt11, which kill insects by producing their own pesticide and are also resistant to a particular herbicide. However, the votes against were not decisive in blocking their introduction because the opposition did not represent a “qualified majority” – also including countries that make up at least 65 percent of the EU population.

The governments were also asked to determine whether to extend authorisation for Monsanto’s MON810, an insect-resistant maize that is grown mainly in Spain, but banned in a number of other countries. More countries voted against than in favor, but again the vote was not considered decisive …

Mute Schimpf, food campaigner for Friends of the Earth Europe, said the decision now rested with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Note that in the three votes, the UK was in favor of GMOs every time. With the expected soon triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, the UK will eventually lose its vote, and thus this appears to favor future anti-GMO votes in the European Union (the UK has a population of 64 million and the EU currently has a population of 508 million).

Monsanto, the multinational and major pusher of GMO-crops and the herbicide RoundUp, is itself also facing some issues as to health problems claimed to be associated with RoundUp (see ZH: Monsanto Colluded With EPA, Was Unable To Prove Roundup Does Not Cause Cancer, Unsealed Court Docs Reveal). Last night, for example, I saw an advertisement indicating that RoundUp was implicated with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Yet, I think that the risks of GMOs goes well beyond Monsanto’s trademarked RoundUp.

I continue to believe that likely crop failures associated with GMO grains are putting the USA at extreme risk of being destroyed economically and otherwise (and most USA corn and soy crops come from genetically-modified seeds). Most Americans do not like to accept this, but it is nonetheless true.

The disciples asked Jesus about the end:

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24:3)

Notice some of what Jesus taught in response:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:4-8).

The “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) begins before the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21), the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7). We seem to be in the beginning stages of these sorrows.

Mark recorded the same account of this time from his perspective:

³ Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, ⁴ “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?” ⁵ And Jesus, answering them, began to say: “Take heed that no one deceives you. ⁶ For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. ⁷ But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. ⁸ For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. ⁹ But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. ¹¹ But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit…” (Mark 13:3–11).

Thus, in both Matthew and Mark it is clear that a time called “the beginning of sorrows” precedes the Great Tribulation. GMO crop failure would certainly seem to qualify as a sorrow or trouble.

The Bible shows that the Europeans will begin the takeover of the USA (Daniel 11:39) and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (cf. Daniel 8:24-25; Jeremiah 30:7) at the start of the Great Tribulation. It may well be that failure of GMO crops may weaken the USA and some of its allies prior to the attack.

Consider that we currently see that Europe, which will dominate the world for 42 months per Revelation 13:5, is once again opposing GMO crops. Europe also has other agricultural practices which put it at less risk for food shortages than the USA, etc. (watch, for example, Are Americans & Asians setting themselves up for destruction from antibiotic use?).

The differing positions of the USA and Europe on GMOs seems to be consistent with biblical prophecies. The USA, UK, etc. are setting themselves up for a potentially massive problem with the GMOs.

As Jesus said:

Today is the first day of the year on God’s calendar.

When speaking of the Hebrew month of Abib/Nisan God declare:

2 This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12:2).

In 2017 that is March 28th.

But most people do not realize that.

In a few days, it will be April 1st on the Roman calendar.

Many people call the first day of April, “April Fools’ Day.” Notice something about it:

Today is April 1 — April Fool’s Day, if you will…in more recent times it’s chock full of good-natured pranks. But watch out; any scams or pranks can end up being costly. Case in point: Back in 2005, KBDS-FM radio conducted an April Fool’s giveaway for a Hummer, but used a play on words to actually give away an R/C model of a Hummer. The winner, Shannon Castillo, was not amused. She filed suit for $60,000, the cost of a new Hummer.

Accounts of the Origins of April Fool’s Day

Do you know why April 1st is observed as April Fool’s Day by various ones in the world?

Here are a couple of accounts:

The origins of April Fools’ Day are shrouded in mystery, experts say.

The most popular theory is that France changed its calendar in the 1500s so that the New Year would begin in January to match the Roman calendar instead of the start of spring in late March or early April.

However word of the change traveled slowly, and many people in rural areas continued to celebrate the New Year in the spring. These country dwellers became known as “April fools.”

Boese, who has studied the holiday’s origin, disagrees with that interpretation.

So there are a few theories about where “April Fools’ Day” originated.

But, basically because the Roman calendar was adopted, some who had accepted the more traditional (and biblical) notion that the year began in the Spring, they were made fun of.

Depending on the year, the first day of the year that God is referring to comes in March or April in modern calendars.

The Bible also refers to the first month of the year with the name Nisan (Nehemiah 2:1; Esther 3:7). The Passover and biblical holy days (some of which are also this month, see Holy Day Calendar) are based upon the calendar that begins on Nisan 1.

Historically calling people fools because they did not change the biblical beginning of the year from Spring to January 1st, apparently did not help people realize when the BIBLE teaches that the year is supposed to begin.

However, unlike most others, now you know.

The Christian Passover for 2017 is Sunday evening, April 9th, after sunset which is when the 14th of Nisan begins.

Real Christians are to prepare for it.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. (1 Corinthians 11:23-32)

Notice that the Apostle Paul is basically teaching that examining oneself before taking Passover is required. He also is teaching that if you will properly judge yourself you would not be subject to certain other judgments, and likely would be healthier.

Of course, most who profess Christ tend to think that they are just fine–but this is a danger as Jesus told certain Christians:

17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. (Revelation 3:17-19)

While the above warning has had application throughout history, it is intended specifically as a warning to end time Christians, the bulk of which are unknowingly Laodicean. And those that do not believe that they need to change are in real danger of being Laodicean. Those who compromise, which most in the COGs do, are Laodicean. Is not now the time to consider this?

As far as human nature and the need for self-examination goes, here are some excerpts from an article that Al Portune wrote when he was part of the old WCG:

In JUST a short while YOU will be sitting down with a very select few people on this earth to partake of the PASSOVER. The Passover is a memorial of the death of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Partaking of the symbols of His broken body and shed blood means that YOU hsve been selected to know and understand God‘s purpose. Being chosen as one of the ELECT to know God‘s truth carries sobering responsibilities. We cannot approach this event lightly.

Prelude To the Holy Days

The Passover is the first event beginning again God’s annual season of Holy Days which reveal His plan of salvation for the whole world. That plan, hidden from the world in general, reveals why YOU cannot take this event lightly…

Self-examination…

This coming Passover is a vital time, whether you have taken the Passover many times or if this is your FIRST time. What does it mean to discern the Lord’s body? How can we eat and drink unworthily?…

God wants us to isolate a very basic and elementary perspective each year at the Passover. He wants us to focus on that elementary concept as we begin again to relive His plan of salvation for mankind. That elementary concept IS salvation. That’s what His plan is all about, whether it relates to US or the world.

Therefore, brethren, the Passover is a time for us to once again get down to the elementary precepts of our OWN salvation – our OWN relationship to God and His Work It is a time to examine OURSELVES. A time to look at YOU.

We can get so absorbed in our work or in the “deeper things,” the seemingly “important” things, that we can forget WE have to get and keep OURSELVES right with God. That’s what the Passover is all about.

There is never a time we can allow ourselves to get so busy or so important in our own eyes that we no longer need to get deadly serious about the elementary concepts of salvation that we so intimately associated with the Passover.

The Elementary Principles

No matter how long we have been in God’s Church or how spiritual we have become, we are still human beings with human nature. Not one of us will ever come to a place in this life when we can afford to forget what we are. Just before the Passover we should take another look – a long, good look !

What is man like?

“The heart [of man] is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jer. 17:9.)

“The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Rom. 8:7).

Yes, this is the kind of nature all human beings have! And this is the time of year to especially remember that fact. It is also a time to rehearse and reaffirm what you have done with the knowledge that you have that kind of nature.

The truth of the matter is, human nature is alien to God and to His ways. Man’s heart is wickedly inclined. He is deceitful, totally opposed to the ways of God. Most men have never seen themselves this way. Most men do not have the slightest awareness they have this kind of nature – but it’s true. Satan, in hiding this truth from mankind, has done his work well!…

When God saw this genuine, heart- felt attitude, He put His Holy Spirit within you and begot you as His own child.

But that isn’t the end of the story!

Not the End…

God wants us to comprehend the REAL DEPTH OF THE EVIL, WICKEDNESS AND DECEITFULNESS that is in us. God is allowing us to live on WITH our fleshly natures and in an alien environment to teach us how really and profoundly EVIL we have been – and how often we still fall short.

We know that we have crucified the old man to the intent that. the body of sin (our very nature) might be destroyed (Rom. 6:6). We know that once we are resurrected or changed at Jesus’ return, we will be freed from this kind of nature (verse 7). But, until that time comes, we must reckon our- selves to be dead indeed unto sin, and living the righteous life (verse 11). The struggle then begins to “let not sin therefore reign in your MORTAL body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof” (verse 12).

Ready for Passover?

As we start the Holy Days again, it should be with a renewed eagerness. It should be with a more fervent desire to take those precious symbols because we know far more deeply their meaning to us and to the world…

Be READY to take the Passover!

The Apostle Paul also wrote that Christians were not to glory in their compromising tolerance and were to keep Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread:

6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:6-8)

The time to prepare for it is now.

So, Herr Guttenberg claims that The world is out of line and he wants to help.

As far as him not going back into politics, I do not believe him on that.  Despite his 2017 denials, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg will again be involved in politics.

Why?

Well, other than prophetic reasons that seem to point to him and the Beast, he still is having involvement with politics. Furthermore, he has made some interesting statements about politics in the past which also suggest he will.

Notice the following where he refers to himself as a type of a political beast:

Interestingly, a comedic spoof of Karl zu Guttenberg was premiered on March 4, 2013 (see Baron Guttenberg does not show up for premier spoofing him). A line that was supposed to be in it was as follows:

Thus, various ones in Germany, at least, realize that the Baron called himself a type of political Beast. Yet, many will be surprised if he does turn out to be the Beast warned against in biblical prophecy.

The anti-Donald Trump sentiment in Europe may assist Baron Guttenberg’s comeback.

Back in December 2015 Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg called Donald Trump “that blonde lunatic named Donald” (Wish List or Reality? Digital Trends in 2016 | Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg | hub conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgdZUA96UBU. Posted December 11, 2015).

Many in Europe agree with Herr Guttenberg’s assessment of Donald Trump.

The Bible shows that Europe will ultimately turn to a ‘strongman’ of its own in Revelation 17:12-13.

This may very well be Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.

Regularly readers of this page are aware that 9 speculative predictions I posted over the years related to Herr Guttenberg have been at least partially fulfilled:

1. He has advocated more European military cooperation.
2. He became unpopular for a time (and still is among many).
3. He ended up, for a time, outside of political office.
4. He went out of the limelight for a while.
5. He went into exile (self-imposed).
6. His exile was to a humid location.
7. He has partially re-emerged in European politics.
8. He has called for Germany to consider being a leader in data protection.
9. He now has a beard.

Note: He did NOT have a beard when I first posted something that indicated that he could get one.

Several of those predictions were based upon my understanding of prophecies in the books of Daniel and Revelation, plus outside sources.

While these 9 speculative predictions do NOT prove that he is going to be the final King of the North European Beast power, he still bears watching.

Knowing the odds history has given us, is war between China and America unstoppable?To answer such questions, we first need to understand the complexity that is the US-China relationship. In fact, there are two US-China relationships.

The first, is the economic relationship. At least until the election of Donald Trump, many scholars and Asia hands would argue that both sides prospered from their deep economic ties. US-China bilateral trade in goods and services has skyrocketed since the two nation’s opened their doors to each other in 1971 and is now more than US$600 billion per year. Trade between both Washington and Beijing has made both countries wealthier with millions of jobs created on both sides of the Pacific.

The second part is the strategic relationship — something that was bound to become strained after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the real threat that brought America and China together. Without a common foe, tensions on both sides have begun to grow. Washington and Beijing now face off in various parts of the Asia-Pacific with no letup in sight.

Such an odd, dual-sided relationship, filled with equal promise and peril, made sense for decades. When times got tough — look no further than the 1995-1996 Taiwan Crisis, the 1999 Chinese Embassy bombing, the 2001 EP-3 Crisis and many other smaller incidents — the dangers of severing the economic relationship always seemed to smooth out any talk of a rupture. But with Trump and advisers such as Death by China author Peter Navarro calling into question the economic benefits of trade with Beijing, the one thing that always seemed to anchor relations in times of trouble seems to be at an end.

China wants world domination and the USA is in its way. Trade wars between the USA and China may well occur. While we can expect even military skirmishes between the USA and China, no, China and the USA are not going to start World War III (see also World War III: Steps in Progress). However, I believe that the Chinese will assist Europe in its conquering of the USA (Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses), and could do this in several ways.

Chinese state firms have expressed an interest to develop land around the Panama Canal, the chief executive of the vital trade thoroughfare said, underlining China’s outward push into infrastructure via railways and ports around the world.

The Panama Canal Authority will officially open a tender to develop about 1,200 hectares of land – roughly the size of 1,200 football fields – around the waterway by the end of this year into a logistics park, after completing a five-year-long decontamination of the area, Chief Executive Jorge Quijano said.

“We have been talking to people here in China,” Quijano told Reuters on Monday ahead of a meeting with the canal’s advisory board in Shanghai. China Communications Construction Corp (601800.SS)(1800.HK), its subsidiary China Harbour Engineering Company and China Railway Group (601390.SS)(0390.HK) have shown interest in the project, he added.

The USA used to completely control the Panama Canal. And now China does to a significant degree–and it is trying to have more dominance. Cutting off the Panama Canal could greatly hurt the USA economically and militarily, and China is more and more in a position to do that. Perhaps I should add that my family and I visited the Panama Canal a few months ago and even produced a video about it (watch The Panama Canal and its Impact on Biblical Prophecy). The USA’s gain and loss of it is consistent with biblical prophecies (see also Will the UK Lose Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands?).

The reference in the “One Belt, One Road” initiative related to the Panama Canal was interesting, as before I read that, I saw the following article regarding Australia and China:

China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry produced an official to say: “In the future we would like our friends in Australia to discard … ideological prejudice and take the right approach to China.”

This was headlined in the Financial Review as “China Rebukes Bishop on Eve of Li’s Visit.”

In this line of thinking, where Australia should shut up and live in fear of China, we were surely in line to receive not just a kicking but a triple kicking.

Because Australia last week signed a letter, together with 10 other nations including Canada, Japan, Germany and Britain, asking China to stop torturing human rights lawyers.

And, at the same time, the Turnbull government had rejected a Chinese overture to join its signature infrastructure plan. The Beijing government wanted Australia’s northern development plans to come under the rubric of its ambitious “One Belt, One Road” initiative, but was rebuffed. …

Why bouquets, not brickbats, for Australia?

Two simple reasons. One, China has been accelerating every aspect of its engagement with Australia for years now because Australia is useful to its long-term needs.

Two, China sees an historic opportunity to hasten the end of US military and strategic domination of the Asia-Pacific. This opportunity is a gift straight from Donald Trump.

Central to breaking US dominance is the breaking of the US alliance system. Australia is a vital part of that system. China is charming Australia in the hope of luring it out of America’s sphere.

Does this mean China will never try to kick Australia? It does not.

Australia’s economic relationship with China has flourished …, “but this flourishing relationship also gives … China the increased ability to threaten and use economic coercion in its relations with Australia.

With the election of Donald Trump and his executive order to stop the TPP agreement, this has emboldened China to move to increase trade ties all around the world. And yes, China wants Australia to be free of its military ties with the USA.

China wants to dominate trade around the world and its “One Belt, One Road” initiative is one way it is hoping to do that with trade. (It is also building a ‘Silk Road’ that could be involved in getting troops to gather for Armageddon (see Might the USA back China’s ‘road to Armageddon’?).

As far as Australia goes, despite current financial benefits, the situation with China will NOT end well.

Decades ago, the old Radio Church of God earlier warned of a threat from Asia in general, and China in particular, to Australia:

Well, Britain did enter the old Common Market and as the 1963 article indicated, Australia has become more and more dependent upon Asian markets. Furthermore, as the 1963 article suggested, Australia is becoming vulnerable for captivity from China.

Anyway, I expect problems in Australia and its eventual loss of sovereignty. I also expect New Zealand to lose its sovereignty. Though it is likely that the USA and UK will lose theirs first (Canada too, will lose its sovereignty).

This Asian threat to Australia and New Zealand is  something I started warning about in writing back in 2009. Perhaps I should mention that I had not seen the warnings from the old Radio Church of God until July 14, 2016–but did find it intriguing that we seem to be on the same page.

So while Australia, New Zealand, and others will look more towards China, I believe that this will have s huge cost (watch Are Chinese threats against Australia for real?).

One day I believe that the Asians, including the Chinese, will decide to takeover the lands of Australia and New Zealand.

The following prophecies from Ezekiel and Isaiah seem to suggest that the Asians will end up with peoples, which would probably include Anglo-Saxon descended ones, like those in Australia and New Zealand (both of which have a lot of pasture land):

13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14 Those from the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses, steeds, and mules. (Ezekiel 27:13-14)

It should also be mentioned that the bartering above also includes sales of people to the Europeans (Revelation 18:9-13)–Europe will rise up to be a major trading power, and will, for a time, cooperate more with China.

Older Hebrew Calendar

When speaking of the Hebrew month of Abib/Nisan, which occurs around late March/early April God declared:

“This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12:2).

After sunset on March 27th, 2017, the new month and year begins. Passover will be after sunset on Sunday, April 9th in 2017.

Each year, some bring up calendar concerns. Some believe that a calculated Holy Day calendar is wrong and that one must be only kept based upon personal observation.  Those espousing the observed calendar often differ among themselves as to how it is to be observed.

The debate is often centered around a Jewish leader called Hillel II. He is credited for publishing the rules that the Jews use for calculating the calendar. Basically, the observed crowd claims that since Hillel was not around until the 4th century, that prior to him, the Jews always used a calendar based upon observation of the first crescent moon and did not include something called ‘postponements.’

This argument presumes, however, that Hillel II invented the calendar rules he made public. Since the calendar determining methods were guarded by the priests, we do not know that for a fact. Furthermore, some believe that this public action was necessary, because the ‘judicial body’ then known as the Sanhedrin, was a fading institution at the time, hence there was a need for public disclosure of the rules.

The calculated crowd basically says that not all Jews used an observed calendar and the Bible seemingly gave the Jews (Leviticus 23:2 and possibly the Church per Colossians 2:16-17, literal translation) some latitude in determination of the actual start date. Some believe that postponements were in place and probably used by some prior to the time of Jesus.

Back in Jesus’ time, communications were not instantaneous.  Yet, somehow Jews around the Roman Empire knew when the Day of Pentecost was as the Bible shows that they were in Jerusalem observing it on the correct day:

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs — we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” (Acts 2:1-11)

The above is scriptural support for the idea that the calculated calendar was in place so that the Jews who came for Pentecost obviously would have to known when it was some time previous to it.  Travel was much slower then and for a message to get from Jerusalem to Rome, and then for people to get back to Rome would have taken a long time, it would not seem possible that those who visited Jerusalem from places as far away as Rome could have known when to be there, UNLESS a calculated calendar was used.  While the Roman visitors coincidentally could have been there, since Pentecost was one of the listed Holy Days to appear before God with an offering (Deuteronomy 16:16), it is likely that they knew (in advance) when it was.

It should be realized that for centuries after Jesus was resurrected, Christians who kept the Holy Days had to use some method, and since most were NOT near Jerusalem after 69 A.D., the use of a calculated calendar (which they likely knew from the Jews) was the only practical way for them to know when the Holy Days were.

Now because some rules related to the calendar were not made public prior to Hillel II (some others had been related to years with an ‘intercalated’ month), we do not know the date when they were first implemented–though some believe they existed from the time of Moses and were shown to be utilized by Ezra. It would seem logical to conclude that they were begun during the period when sacrificing was being done. One of the possible reasons I have read about for implementing them was in consideration of back-to-back High Days (before or after a weekly Sabbath) and the laborious offering rituals needed. It would not seem that postponements would have been implemented long after the Temple was destroyed with related sacrificing also ceasing by 70 A.D. If sacrifices played a role in using the postponement, then Hillel II could not have been the one to originate postponements.

According to Jewish sources. the placement of the Day of Atonement seems to be a major factor in the use of postponements. Notice the following from the Encyclopaedia Judaica:

CALENDAR (Heb. לוּחַ, lu’aḥ). The present Jewish calendar is lunisolar, the months being reckoned according to the moon and the years according to the sun. A month is the period of time between one conjunction of the moon with the sun and the next. The conjunction of the moon with the sun is the point in time at which the moon is directly between the earth and the sun (but not on the same plane) and is thus invisible. This is known as the מוֹלָד, molad (“birth,” from the root ילד). The mean synodic month (or lunation) is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 3⅓ seconds (793 parts (ḥalakim); in the Jewish system the hour is divided into 1,080 parts each of which is 3⅓ seconds). The solar year is 365 days, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds, which means that a solar year exceeds a lunar one (12 months) by about 11 days. The cycles of 12 lunar months must therefore be adjusted to the solar year, because although the Jewish festivals are fixed according to dates in months, they must also be in specific (agricultural) seasons of the year which depend on the tropical solar year. Without any adjustment the festivals would “wander” through the seasons and the “spring” festival (Passover), for example, would be celebrated eventually in winter, and later in summer. The required adjustment is realized by the addition of an extra month (Adar II) in each of seven out of the 19 years that constitute the small (or lunar) cycle of the moon (maḥazor katan or maḥazor ha-levanah). …

The year begins on Tishri 1, which is rarely the day of the molad, as there are four obstacles or considerations, called deḥiyyot, in fixing the first day of the month (rosh ḥodesh). Each deḥiyyah defers Rosh Ha-Shanah by a day, and combined deḥiyyot may cause a postponement of two days: (1) mainly in order to prevent the Day of Atonement (Tishri 10) from falling on Friday or Sunday, and Hoshana Rabba (the seventh day of Sukkot; Tishri 21) from falling on Saturday, but in part also serving an astronomical purpose (see below). Rosh Ha-Shanah never falls on Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday (according to the mnemonic לא אד”ו ראש known as the postponement addu – probably first vocalized iddo; cf. Ezra 8:17). (2) Entirely for an astronomical reason, if the molad is at noon or later (מוֹלָד זָקֵן or מוֹלָד יח) Rosh Ha-Shanah is delayed by one day or, if this would cause it to fall as above, two days. These two deḥiyyot, owing to the mentioned limits on the number of days in the year, entail another two. (3) The third deḥiyyah is as follows: If the molad in an “ordinary” (not leap) year falls at ג”טר”ד, that is the third day (Tuesday), at 9 hours, 204 ḥalakim, that is, 3:11 A.M. and 20 secs. – Rosh Ha-Shanah is put off two days. A postponement to Wednesday is not permitted (as in (1)), so that it is deferred to Thursday. The object is as follows: If the molad of Tishri occurs at that hour, the outcome would be a year which is one day too long…. (4) This deḥiyyah is very infrequent. It is known as בט”ו תקפ”ט אחר עבור שנה, that is when the molad of Tishri, following immediately after a leap year, occurs on the second day (Monday) at 15 hours, 589 ḥalakim, which means Monday, 9:32 A.M. and 43⅓ secs. …

While it is not unreasonable to attribute to Hillel II the fixing of the regular order of intercalations, his full share in the present fixed calendar is doubtful. … Intercalation is claimed to be evident from the figures in Ezekiel 1:1, 3:15, 4:4–6 and 8:1, with similar indications in I Kings 12:32–3 and II Chronicles 30:2–3; … The New Moon (Num. 28:11, and parallels) was determined by the phasis in the preceding evening, hence the plausibility of an early biblical record (I Sam 20:18) of its prediction for “tomorrow.”

It is true that Hillel II did not come up with all the calendar calculation rules. Again, it is more likely he mainly laid them out publicly.

Psalm 81:1-5 discusses new moons, and may be a reason that the Jews believe the calculation for the new year should be based on Tishri 1. Though the sacred year, according to the Bible (Exodus 12:1-2), begins on Nisan 1, the date of that calculation seems to be based on the Tishri calculation. The fact that the Encyclopaedia Judaica ties an aspect of the calendar with Ezra 8:17 is consistent with the view that the postponements were being utilized at the time of Ezra.

Furthermore consider that Jesus kept Passover on the 14th of Nisan (also known as the month of Abib) on the Hebrew calendar after sunset on the day we now call Tuesday (see What Happened in the ‘Crucifixion Week’?). He died the next day, which is the day we commonly call Wednesday. The late Dr. Herman Hoeh taught this occurred in 31 A.D. (though 30 A.D. might be possible–as far as 30 A.D. goes, I have seen something from one supporter of that view that claimed that the Feast of Trumpets prior to it was calculated based upon a postponement).

Now, if we can have records of when the new moon was for 31 A.D., we can calculate when Passover would have been. And that information exists.

There is New Moon Data from the US Navy Observatory using the current Julian calendar and Greenwich Mean Time for the new moon in 31 A.D.:

Since Jerusalem is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, then the conjunction, which effectively is the start of the actual New Moon, would have occurred at 2:00 pm on what we now call April 10th on the day of the week commonly called Tuesday (the same US Navy link states that March 27th was on a Tuesday, and from that we can calculate the days of the week for April of 31 A.D.).

If the first part or crescent of the moon could have been seen close to the time the US Navy said the conjunction for the new moon occurred, the 14th of Nisan would have began after sunset on Sunday the 22nd of April. Yet, it would not have been.

Furthermore, the human eye normally cannot see the moon in the middle of the afternoon and there are delays until enough of the moon can be seen. So it would seem that the first observable crescent should have been the next day. Thus, the first day of the month would have likely been Wednesday, April 11th, based upon a strictly observable calendar. This would have made Passover after sunset Monday, April 23rd.

Presuming Jesus was killed in 31 A.D., this eliminates the strictly observable calendar (for details on why that makes sense, check out the article The KEY To The Crucifixion Date). The beginning of the month that year would have been ‘postponed’ one day, based upon a calculated calendar. Since Jesus kept His last Passover on a Tuesday evening after sunset, this leads to the logical conclusion that Jesus kept the Passover based upon a calculated calendar (again presuming a 31 A.D. final Passover for Him). Jesus would have kept Passover after sunset on April 24th and died prior to sunset on April 25th.

And if Jesus kept the Holy Days based upon a calculated calendar, then it is reasonable to conclude that a calculated calendar existed centuries before Hillel wrote a record of it down.

To place the Passover on a Friday in A.D. 30 is to violate one of the rules of the fixed calendar — that no common year of the sacred calendar may have 356 days. Common years of 12 months may be only 353, 354 or 355 days long, a fact you can verify in the Jewish Encyclopedia.

Theologians place the Passover of A.D. 30 on Friday, April 7, 356 days after the Passover of A.D. 29. Count it for yourself! This date is two days late. The Passover in A.D. 30 was only 354 days after that of A.D. 29.

The 14th of the month Nisan could have occurred on Wednesday in A.D. 30, as well as in A.D. 31. Thus, if you want to believe that the crucifixion was in A.D. 30 — which it was not — you would still have to admit that Friday could not be the day of the crucifixion!

For the year A.D. 31 a few references, unacquainted with the rules of the Hebrew calendar, mistakenly give the Passover, Nisan 14, as Monday, March 26. But this is one month too early. The year A.D. 30-31 was intercalary — that is, it had 13 months — thus placing the Passover 30 days later in A.D. 31, and on a Wednesday. (Hoeh H. The Crucifixion Was Not on Friday, Part Two. Good News magazine, March 1984)

Since Jesus kept Passover on Tuesday night (the day starts the evening prior on the Hebrew calendar, hence a Wednesday calendar date means a Tuesday evening obvserance, since Passover is observed in the evening) and died Wednesday afternoon, it appears that He was keeping a calculated calendar with postponements.

Understand that many of the children of Israel were dispersed from Jerusalem for centuries. This of course separated them from accurate Jerusalem observations. Since all wanted to keep the right day, a calculated calendar was a logical solution to this (though odd solutions, such as observing the holy days for two days, were used by many, as some do today).

On sufficiently cloudy evenings/nights, it is not possible to observe the first appearance of the new moon through observation.  Thousands of years ago, they would not have had a way to observe the start of the new moon every month.

1. Modern communication methods did not exist thousands of years ago.
2. Jesus endorsed the basic Jewish calendar (cf. Matthew 23:1-3).
3. Jesus, who did not sin (Hebrews 4:15), seemingly observed a calculated calendar (cf. Luke 22:8-22, etc.).
4. Throughout history God’s people not near Jerusalem basically had to rely on some type of a calculated calendar.
5. Weather and other factors made a strictly observational calendar impossible for use every month.
6. A strictly observational calendar results in people keeping Holy Days sometimes weeks differently, depending up where they are physically located.
7. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).

There is more information that could be provided on each of the above points, but even though I plan to research more on this in the future,

 I thought this information could be helpful for some as we get closer to the start of the Spring Holy Day season for 2017.

The term ‘apocalyptic’ has been in the news related to Britain’s expected departure from the European Union (commonly called Brexit):

The government will trigger Article 50 on Wednesday, kick-starting talks aimed at agreeing a Brexit deal with the EU.

The government will then publish its Great Repeal Bill on Thursday.

It will propose giving ministers the powers to change some aspects of European laws when they have been incorporated into UK legislation, without needing the approval of Parliament.

Triggering Article 50 begins a two-year negotiation process to attempt to reach a deal before Britain officially leaves the EU in March 2019.

If no deal is agreed, it would mean World Trade Organization rules would be imposed – less favourable terms than trading within the single market.

‘Apocalyptic’

Home Secretary Amber Rudd … dismissed a “no deal” scenario outlined by EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier – with truck queues at Dover, disruption to air traffic and a suspension in the movement of nuclear materials to the UK – as “apocalyptic”.

Numerous polls published since the June referendum have shown that the British public still narrowly favours Brexit despite warnings of economic apocalypse and political turmoil. A YouGov survey published in late January found that 46% of Brits felt that Brexit was the right decision, compared to 42% who said it was the wrong decision.

The public remains divided — and Britain’s political parties are too.

A war erupted inside the Labour Party, the government’s official opposition, over leader Corbyn’s decision to make the party’s parliamentarians vote in favour of May triggering Article 50.

May’s Conservative Party is split between “hard Brexiteers” who want a quick, clean, and total divorce, and party moderates who are keen to respect the referendum result but are concerned about the consequences of Britain abandoning its biggest trading market.

Brexit has also raised new questions about Britain’s place on the world stage.

What are the implications of all this?

The spectre that looms over pretty much every aspect of Brexit is uncertainty.

This Brexit vote marks a time of change and transition for the UK.

Expect tough negotiations with some in Europe. Expect that Theresa May and Donald Trump will try to make some type of trade deal.

We are in the time that Jesus referred to as the “beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:4-8) and despite the relative calm in the UK now, more troubles are expected:

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. (Mark 13:8)

But there will also be times when things appear to be fine (e.g. 1 Thessalonians 5:3; also check out the article The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27). And changes will come.

Some feel that the Brexit vote means the end of a united Europe.

The Bible is clear that Europe will unite, but it is also clear that there will be problems of unity in Europe:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

Despite that, when Europe finally emerges the world will marvel:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:1-4)

While some may consider that the Brexit vote is a ‘deadly wound’ for Europe, Europe is not over and will arise.

Notice that the military power of the Beast was something that the world will marvel, be astonished about.

Why?

Because few truly thought that the European Beast power had the ability to rise up militarily.

And when it does, it will lead to the end of the UK, as well as the USA:

24 His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power;
He shall destroy fearfully,
And shall prosper and thrive;
He shall destroy the mighty, and also the holy people. (Daniel 8:24)

39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:39)

The ‘he’ is the European King of the North. The strongest fortresses in the 21st century belong to the USA, and to a much lessor degree, its British-descended allies. And these lands will be divided (see also Will the Anglo-Saxon Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?). Part of the King of the North’s power will come from the USA and UK, as well as through deceiving them (cf. Daniel 8:25; Lamentations 1:1-2).

The Bible shows after problems happen, the UK peoples will try to make another deal with the Europeans, prophetically sometimes referred to as the Assyrians (cf. Isaiah 10; see also Germany’s Assyrian Roots Throughout History and Germany in Biblical Prophecy).

Notice that in Hosea 12:1, Ephraim tries to make a deal with the Assyrians:

1 Ephraim feeds on the wind, And pursues the east wind; He daily increases lies and desolation. Also they make a covenant with the Assyrians. And oil is carried to Egypt.

And in Hosea 7:11-12 Ephraim also tries to make a deal with Egypt and Assyria. This deal seems to be made after the USA has been eliminated or is on its way out.

11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove, without sense—They call to Egypt, They go to Assyria. 12 Wherever they go, I will spread My net on them; I will bring them down like birds of the air; I will chastise them, According to what their congregation has heard.

There is nothing that I am aware of in world history that shows that Ephraim calls to Egypt after Hosea was written in a manner to fulfill that prophecy. Since this is a prophecy that must come to pass (this is one more reason why I believe the Bible supports the concept that the King of the North invades the U.S.A. and its English-speaking allies before it invades the King of the South).

Notice that Ephraim will eat unclean things in Assyria:

3 They shall not dwell in the Lord’s land, But Ephraim shall return to Egypt, And shall eat unclean things in Assyria. (Hosea 9:3)

These verses in Hosea suggest that the Ephraimites (United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) and the Jews (modern Israel) think they should get some protection from Assyria (Germany), probably because the U.S.A. (Manasseh, Israel?) was the primary reason the King of the North attacked the strongest fortresses and/or because they have made various treaties.

Furthermore, it shows that one of the reasons that Israel, including Ephraim, is swallowed up is because they trusted Assyria. Assyria is a people who Isaiah 10 shows will destroy nations.

In the Bible, Ephraim, Manasseh, and Judah are also prophesied to turn on each other to some degree (Isaiah 9:21).

This seems to be consistent also with a Catholic prophecy:

St. Senanus (died 560): They (English) themselves will betray each other… (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, p. 128)

Hosea 10:9-11 suggests that Ephraim and Judah will be forced into hard labor, perhaps around this time as well; while 11:1-8 says that Assyria will be the king of Ephraim and Israel, because they refused to repent, and that the sword will devour their cities.

The last verse in Hosea (14:9) begins with:

9 Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them.

Note that the word translated as “prudent” above is the same Hebrew biyn that is in Daniel 11:33/35 as understanding. Since I believe that the Philadelphian portion of the Church is to have the wise and prudent, I believe that Hosea is giving more insight as to why it may be tied into Daniel 11.

Amos makes it clear that a sinful nation will be destroyed and its people scattered:

8 “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” Says the Lord. 9 “For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. (Amos 9:8-9)

Amos 9:10 makes it clear that those who overlook these prophecies will suffer:

10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’ (Amos 9:10)

Many do not believe that an apocalypse will really come to the UK or USA. They are scripturally in error.

The time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), also known as the Great Tribulation, is coming. The UK and USA will be affected by it.

Yet that will not be this year, next year, nor during the first term of the Donald Trump Administration. But events, like the Brexit, are setting the stage for this to ultimately happen.

There was violence in Cincinnati, Ohio:

March 26, 2017

An unidentified shooter opened fire at a Cincinnati nightclub early Sunday, killing one person and wounding 14 others, officials said.

The shooter escaped the melee and remained on the run Sunday. …

The motive for the shooting remained unclear, but Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said there was no indication the attack is terrorism related. The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m., WLWT reported. …

Capt. Kim Williams said authorities were not sure what prompted the shooting.

“Saturday night, it is a very young crowd,” Williams said. “We have had incidents here in the past, but this is by far the worst.”

The fact that this may not have been done by an Islamic terrorist does not mean that this was not horrific.

Violence is not unexpected. Notice some biblical prophecies:

25 There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

23 ‘Make a chain,
For the land is filled with crimes of blood,
And the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the worst of the Gentiles,
And they will possess their houses;
I will cause the pomp of the strong to cease,
And their holy places shall be defiled. (Ezekiel 7:23-24)

13 … evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13)

Many lack self-control and do not love their neighbor.

God’s Stern Warning

As God Almighty has said: “Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel into anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken anymore? Ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is SICK, and the whole heart FAINT. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrefying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment” (Isaiah 1:4-6).

What a vivid description of our urbanized society today!

And yet, in spite of this bleak and pessimistic outlook for the immediate future — the painful lessons that must yet be learned by a rebellious and sinning mankind — there is GOOD NEWS AHEAD! Beyond the catastrophic events destined to take place within the next few years (all fully explained in our free book The United States and British Commonwealth in Prophecy), there is the bright prospect, the happy outlook of The WORLD TOMORROW — God’s Great Society — His kind of city.

Just as man has reached the end of his rope and is about to blast himself into nothingness, God will intervene and STOP man’s … inhumanity to man. He will send Jesus Christ back to this earth to CRUSH man’s rebellion and to establish God’s Government on this earth once and for all — to FORCE mankind to be happy, healthy and prosperous. Jesus will return.

It remains my view that we currently are in the beginning of sorrows that Jesus prophesied (Matthew 24:4-8).

While this one shooter is not the cause, he/she is, sadly, a sign of the times. The Great Tribulation is coming relatively soon.

When he first formed the what he called the Restored Church of God, David Pack claimed that stood for “precision of doctrine,” which essentially seemed to mean he was not going to change what the old WCG under Hebert W. Armstrong taught.

In 2000, he wrote:

What are the priorities of Restored?
1. To gather and feed the flock of God and to teach them to hold fast to the exact precision of doctrines as handed down by Jesus Christ, through the apostles and prophets, including our own end-time apostle, Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong…
3. To be found doing the Work of preaching the gospel, as led by Jesus Christ, and as He gives us funds and time to do so in this age (Pack, David. Why the Restored Church of God? Booklet. 2000. pp.18-19).

His priorities were not in alignment with the Philadelphian portion of the Church of God, but he also failed to “to hold fast to the exact precision of doctrines as handed down by” by Herbert W. Armstrong.

It would take too much space in this post to go through all of them, but some of the changes are documented in the article Why Not the Restored Church of God?

In this post, I would like to go over some of his 2017 teachings on the ‘man of sin’ as well as his misunderstanding of the applicability of the writings in Habakkuk 2.

In January 2017, I noticed that David Pack posted the following in what is called Sermon Transcript The Greatest Untold Story! Part 31:

II Thessalonians 3, verse 6: “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.”

Those in the splinters…There are thousands of them, brethren, who are in the splinters, who have the Holy Spirit. They’re not going to follow this man, and they’re the ones that are going to come back to God’s Church. I’ll have a lot more to say about them, in a way that will simply stun you—stun you. They’re going to escape, but not until they go through fire.

I don’t know how long this man will last, but we ought to, at least, pause and say…The next thing we’re looking for is not Christ revealed from heaven. It’s this evil blasphemer…revealed out of the splinters—that is coming first, and God is going to vacuum away all the tares and those who lost His Spirit and who will not come—and they’re not going to come later—they’re out. You know Luke 14. There are those who are invited and they don’t come. God said they were not going to come…They will in no wise enter this supper……

Let’s be clear…(II Thessalonians 2) verse 12, those who follow him are damned. They are condemned. I didn’t say that. God does. Why? Because they “believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” You cannot be saved if you follow a Satan-possessed, blaspheming, false Christ. Who knows? Maybe he says he’s God the Father. There’s a guy in Rome that calls himself the Holy Father. It’s not shocking that a human being might say that.

Salvation is lost to the people who follow this man…It just was never clear how far they would go, and how God would vacuum them out of the Church. God said in Haggai—I called for the desolation. I raise up the Foolish Shepherd. It’s something He’s doing. He hardened pharaoh. He used Judas. He can do that. He can use man for a righteous purpose like Cyrus, and others. …

I began to realize that, after the apostates under Joe Tkach, there would actually be worse leaders that followed. ..

God raised up Joseph W. Tkach and a group of people around him to cause the apostasy. We all know that. Mr. Armstrong was not so deceived or weak a leader that he picked an evil man to follow him. He didn’t know. …

Do you think the devil would need to be coaxed to enter a man among God’s people, in a way no man has ever done in 2,000 years—that we could ever see? Do you think the devil would have to be coaxed to do that? He’d be like a dog on a chain with his front legs off the ground, straining to snap the leash to do it!

God could probably just snap His fingers, and the devil would enter this man and knock him over when he did, so to speak. This is easy for God to do. We serve the God who can change out the universe with a bang. It’s easy for God to do. He has a purpose in it. It also draws tremendous attention to His Church in a right way. He raised up Joe Tkach to cause the apostasy. Without that, this man can’t rise out of it. Surely, brethren, we believe that He can raise up a man out of it to carry out the last part of it.

This was interesting for at least four reasons:

1. This is a change from his earlier positions, which had been based upon improper tradition.
2. In my view, the Bible makes David Pack and his covetous out as a blasphemer (2 Peter 2:1-3).
3. David Pack originally claimed to stand for ‘precision of doctrine’ has totally flipped to a view closer to PCG on the man of sin (see also Who is the Man of Sin of 2 Thessalonians 2?).
4. David Pack is warning that thousands will follow someone in another COG group. Thousands have came to the Continuing Church of God over the past 4 years (see CCOG reports 1900 attended its festival sites and has a total membership of over 2200).

David Pack is now claiming that someone who was in the Church of God will have Satan enter him to become the man of sin. David Pack once claimed that COGwriter (me) was part of the ‘synagogue of Satan’ (see RCG’s David Pack Says COGwriter, Dr. Meredith, COGs, etc. ‘Part of Synagogue of Satan’). So, it should not come as a surprise that presuming thousands more will come into the Continuing Church of God that he could falsely also call me the ‘man of sin.’ Especially if some day I get over some illness.

However, David Pack later stated in his sermon “The Greatest Untold Story! Part 45” that the ‘man of sin’ would likely not be married–so that would tend to rule me out (I have been married over three decades)–but maybe he will call me a “wizard.” Here is what he stated:

The Man of Sin comes with some unique problems, in a way, that I want to clear up. Think of what could be called the “effective counterfeit” principle. The more effective he is as a counterfeit, the more people can be sucked into following him. There’s no excuse to follow him, because what he teaches is against God’s Law. But claiming to be Christ, as a man, of and by itself, is not wrong. It’s what he says. He’s lawless and his power is Satanic, but think of the “effective counterfeit” principle for a moment.

When Christ walked the earth, he was 33-and-a-half years old–some old leader in the splinters isn’t going to fit the bill.

The older the man is, the more likely–I mean, God could use anybody to be the first two wizards that introduce him. They can be older men. The wizards can have one resume, if you will. The Man of Sin has to have another–younger, cleaner–Ready? Single. You probably can’t have him stand up as a married Christ. I’ll bet none of you ever thought about that–is the Man of Sin married? How could a married man, brethren, ever claim to be Jesus Christ–never mind if he had children who would thus be half-gods. You know, Hercules, and they’d be Mercury, whatever else. Do you see my point?

There seems to be no way this man can be married, or probably have ever been married, and claim to be Jesus Christ. Never mind have children who, forever after, would sort of be … you know, come from the messianic line when he was Christ. That would have been a problem in the first century. We’ve talked about that many a time. It was more than Christ didn’t want to just leave a widow. That would have been one problem. Or He would have left orphans. That would have been another, but they would have been born of God! Theoretically, we could say His kids would have been one-quarter God, half from Him and none from whoever had been His wife.

The fact that he is a single man, perhaps in his early 30s, introduces another possibility about why is he single. There is quite a powerful case behind that that would take longer to explain. I don’t want to get into it, but some of you may guess what it is. I’d like to do that in its own time and place, so we’ll just leave it at that. But he is going to have to be a single man, who got there into his thirties. Why he’s single is a different discussion, but that’s all we’re going to cover now. There’s probably more to the story, maybe much more to that story, but no time for it now.

So, the Man of Sin has to be a younger man. The older he is, the more he comes with a resume that could be suspect–that’s subject to fact checking. You see my point? I’m trying to illustrate something here, because some more things have come clear. Young, single, clean–Does he have brothers and sisters? People can check up on him? Is this really Christ? This guy has to look like the real deal, and he does to such an extent that even the absolute perversions that come out of his mouth are not sufficient to keep some people, with God’s Spirit, from being fooled.

It may be that the idea that the ‘man of sin’ could be unmarried could be consider possibly consistent with Daniel 11:37 and the King of the North, but David Pack did not cite that verse. His rationale is off. He keeps deviating more and more. He has made so many odd teachings and has such covetousness, that I personally doubt David Pack is actually part of the Church of God, despite his claims to the contrary (see also Why Not the Restored Church of God?).

Now, let’s get to him and Habakkuk 2.

David Pack posted the following as part of his newest booklet “How God’s Kingdom Will Come The Untold Story!”:

The prophet Habakkuk, whom Paul quoted in Hebrews 10 regarding the man of sin, adds to this man’s profile: “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Yes also, because he transgresses by wine, he is a proud man, neither keeps at home, who enlarges his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathers unto him all nations, and heaps unto him all people” (Hab. 2:4-5). Here is a man who is of the devil, but who holds such awesome power that all nations of the world buckle to his will. No one is talking about this man because no one understands him or could believe the enormous reach and power that he will bring. A number of verses make plain that this counterfeit will be very short-lived. (Other helpful related verses to read include II Corinthians 11:4; all of Habakkuk 2; all of II Timothy 3; Zechariah 11:15-17; James 5:1-6; Matthew 7:15-23 and Luke 21:8, 35-36.)

Like many, David Pack does not understand the prophecy of Habakkuk 2 which has to do with the USA that will be destroyed for greed and indebtedness (David Pack should have realized what Habakkuk 2:6-8 states as he recommended that his readers would read the entire chapter–those that do will realize that David Pack misunderstands it.

So, let’s look at Habakkuk 2:

2:1 I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected.

2 Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2:1-3)

Notice that the prophecy that is being discussed is for the appointed time of the end. It is a prophecy for our time–and will affect the proud. What will happen is so bad “That he may run who reads it.” So, David Pack is correct that it has an end time application (some groups, notably LCG, stopped teaching that).

David Pack quoted the passages of Habakkuk 2:4-5, so I will here, plus the three verses that follow those passages:

4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. 

5 “Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man, And he does not stay at home. Because he enlarges his desire as hell, And he is like death, and cannot be satisfied, He gathers to himself all nations And heaps up for himself all peoples.

6 “Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, ‘Woe to him who increases What is not his — how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’? 7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty. 8 Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men’s blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it. (Habakkuk 2:5-8)

Notice that verse 6 is clearly the same man as mentioned in Habakkuk 2:4-5. David Pack did not try to explain this in what I have seen–and even if he tries, he again will get this wrong if he identifies the indebted as the man of sin.

David Pack has sorely misunderstood these passages in Habakkuk and improperly assigned them to HIS false version of the ‘man of sin.’

The second chapter of Habakkuk is NOT a prophecy about the man of sin (see also Do you take seriously the warnings God had the prophet Habakkuk record?).

This is one more area that RCG has wrong.

The Laodicean Church Era has been predominant circa 1986 A.D. to present. EU leaders gathered in Rome on Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the bloc’s founding treaties against the backdrop of a series of crises that have challenged European unity.

Leaders from 27 member states declared “Europe is our common future” in a final declaration signed at the Campidoglio palace, where on March 25, 1957 six founding states signed the Treaty of Rome paving the way for today’s EU.

Noticeably absent was British Prime Minister Theresa May, who on Wednesday is set to officially start a two-year Brexit process for the bloc’s second-biggest economy.

Amid the symbolism and show of unity in Rome, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Britain’s departure was a “tragedy” for the other 27 member states. …

The document signed in Rome sets a new course for the EU, laying out the principle of a multi-speed bloc wherein some countries move ahead on stronger integration while others may not participate on certain issues. …

“Europe as a political entity will either be united, or will not be at all … The unity of Europe is not a bureaucratic model. The Bible shows that Europe ultimately will reorganize and unify (Revelation 17:12-13), develop into a major military power (Revelation 13:3-4), despite having problems of unity (Daniel 2:41-43).

What hope do they offer for the Europe of today and of tomorrow?

Their answers are to be found precisely in the pillars on which they determined to build the European economic community.  I have already mentioned these: the centrality of man, effective solidarity, openness to the world, the pursuit of peace and development, openness to the future.  Those who govern are charged with discerning the paths of hope, identifying specific ways forward to ensure that the significant steps taken thus far have not been wasted, but serve as the pledge of a long and fruitful journey.

Europe finds new hope when man is the centre and the heart of her institutions. …

As leaders, you are called to blaze the path of a “new European humanism” made up of ideals and concrete actions.  This will mean being unafraid to take practical decisions capable of meeting people’s real problems and of standing the test of time.

While many consider Pope Francis very spiritual, notice something that the Apostle Paul warned against:

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-9)

2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted — you may well put up with it! European humanism is a false gospel. Pope Francis’ endorsement of that as well as his interfaith and ecumenical agendas are false gospels. A ‘chaste virgin’ will not be entangled with false religions and humanistic politics.

Pope Francis wants European unity, people to trust man, and accept support from his Rome-based church. The Bible warns against a different, false gospel (Galatians 1:6-9) as well as a religious power involved in worldly politics which is based on the city of seven hills (Revelation 17).

US Senator, and former Republican presidential nominee, John McCain made some comments in Europe:

McCain renewed his calls on Friday for a return to a legacy neocon status quo, when speaking at the Brussels forum, said that the world “cries out for American and European leadership” through the EU and Nato, and said that the EU and the US needed to develop “more cooperation, more connectivity”.

In a “new world order under enormous strain” and in “the titanic struggle with forces of radicalism … we can’t stand by and lament, we’ve got to be involved,” said McCain who is now chairman of the armed services committee in the US Senate, quoted by the EU Observer. “I trust the EU,” he said, defending an opposite view from that of US president Donald Trump, who said in January that the UK “was so smart in getting out” of the EU and that Nato was “obsolete”. He said that the EU was “one of the most important alliances” for the US and that the EU and Nato were “the best two sums in history”, which have maintained peace for the last 70 years.

Further attacking Trump’s global worldview, McCan said that “we need to rely on Nato and have a Nato that adjusts to new challenges.” He noted that “the EU has too many bureaucrats, not much bureaucracy,” but added that “it’s not the only place on earth with that problem.” He said that he was “still wondering what the overall effect of Brexit will be” and that he did not know “if this is the beginning of a serious problem for the EU”. John McCain trusts Europe. The Bible teaches that will be a mistake as Europe will takeover over the USA (Daniel 11:39). The Bible teaches that perceived friends will become destructive enemies (Lamentations 1:1-2).

Many do not believe that Europe will be able to rise up and accomplish this. But they have overlooked scriptures. Before getting to some of them, notice something a reader sent me last night:

The UK is handing control of Europe’s destiny to Germany by leaving the EU, Lord Heseltine has claimed.

The Tory peer, sacked as a government adviser after defying the whip over Brexit, said the Germans had lost World War Two but the UK was now giving them the “opportunity to win the peace”.

“I find that quite unacceptable,” he told the House Magazine. …

Lord Heseltine, who was deputy prime minister between 1992 and 1997, said he would continue to argue against the decision to leave the EU, believing it was against the UK’s historic national interest.

‘Disaster’

The 83-year old said he was “now free” to speak out after he was relieved of his five economic advisory roles after defying party managers to vote against Brexit in the House of Lords.

“If anyone is listening, I will continue to play a role in trying to avert what I perceive to be a disaster of British self-interest,” he was quoted as saying. …

“For someone like myself, it was in 1933, the year of my birth, that Hitler was democratically elected in Germany. He unleashed the most horrendous war.

“This country played a unique role in securing his defeat. So Germany lost the war. We have just handed them the opportunity to win the peace.”

‘Shift of focus’

He dismissed those who argue Britain’s standing in the world would be unaffected by EU withdrawal, saying the UK would lose its ability to act as a bridge between both the Commonwealth and the US and Europe. …

Mr Davies, who is vice chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on British-German relations, added: “There is no chance of a war between Germany, France and Britain. We all share the same values and we are all open to each other for trade.”

Responding to Lord Heseltine’s comments, a UKIP spokesman said: “What an extraordinary thing to say. … I never realised the purpose of Britain’s membership of the EU was to stop German domination of Europe. …” http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-39380606

Brexit WILL INCREASE Germany’s influence in Europe. And according to biblical prophecies, yes, a German-dominated European power will go to war against the UK in the future (cf. Isaiah 10:5-8; Daniel 8:24-25).

As a rule politicians do NOT understand the following scriptures:

38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain. (Daniel 11:38-39)

5 “Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger
And the staff in whose hand is My indignation.
6 I will send him against an ungodly nation,
And against the people of My wrath
I will give him charge,
To seize the spoil, to take the prey,
And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Yet he does not mean so,
Nor does his heart think so;
But it is in his heart to destroy,
And cut off not a few nations.
8 For he says,
‘Are not my princes altogether kings?
9 Is not Calno like Carchemish?
Is not Hamath like Arpad?
Is not Samaria like Damascus?
10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols,
Whose carved images excelled those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
11 As I have done to Samaria and her idols,
Shall I not do also to Jerusalem and her idols?'” (Isaiah 10:5-11)

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:3-4)

Notice that the strongest military power will be taken over–that would be the USA and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (the “he” is a reference to the final European King of the North).

Notice that a power in Europe (Germany’s Assyrian Roots Throughout History and Germany in Biblical Prophecy) will do so, even though he does not think so (Samaria is a reference to the USA; cf. Spiritual Samaritans: Old and New).

Notice that the world will marvel that Europe will rise up to become a successful military power.

How will Europe do this?

Partially, in my view, because of its ties to the USA, such as NATO.

But also, in my view, from its technology. In addition to Germany’s stellarator project (see Germany’s functional stellarator, Donald Trump, and ‘the unthinkable’), notice another new German technological advance:

World’s largest ‘artificial sun’ turned on in Germany

Scientists have just turned on the “world’s biggest artificial sun”.

The huge structure could help sed light on new was of making green fuels, among other technologies, the engineers behind it hope.

In all, the sun is made up of a honeycomb of 149 spotlights, which together make the structure known as “Synlight”. Inidividually, they are the kinds of xenon short-arc lamps used for cinema projectors, instead put to work simulating sunlight.

If it points all of those lights at one single, small spot, it can create about 10,000 times the amount of solar radiation that would normally fall there.

Such light is in rare supply in Germany at this time of year. So scientists are able to simulate it – and hence test new ways of making hydrogen and exploring cleaner energy sources. …

The goal is to eventually use actual sunlight rather than the artificial light produced at the Juelich experiment, which cost £3 million to build and requires as much electricity in four hours as a four-person household would use in a year.

In December 2015, I reported about some of the potential other German hydrogen technology could have (see German helium fusion stellarator may help propel Europe to dominate the world).

It is even clearer now that these projects have massive economic potential.

Several projects in Europe and Germany have definite military potential as well.

The Brexit and the rise of Donald Trump have became turning points for Europe to move to develop a new unity as well as a European military. The British exit from the EU, combined with the use of Donald Trump as a type of scapegoat by some European leaders, is emboldening many who have wanted to see Europe dominate the West.

The Bible foretells the time of a great army (Daniel 11:25) and military power (Revelation 13:1-10) in Europe. The Bible also shows that it will have vast economic power and cause many to prosper (Revelation 18). Many in Europe in general, and Germany in particular, are working towards that goal, despite biblical warnings of being part of it (e.g. Revelation 18:4).

That Beast power will be European (for more biblical details, watch Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Technology seems to be the key to a powerful European military. While the U.S.A., Australia, and others are currently worried mostly about China, the European developments will not be good for the Anglo-Saxon descended lands, including England.

Consider something from the Old Testament:

19 For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had encouraged moral decline in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord. (2 Chronicles 28:19)

Might leaders like those in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand who seem to be encouraging biblically-moral declines cause their nations to be brought low?

The total destruction of the nation of the United States of America and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies is coming.

These lands needs national repentance to delay their coming destruction (cf. Daniel 4:27). Pray (1 Timothy 2:1-3; Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 21:36; Colossians 4:2).

The Europeans are rising up and technology, as I have long written, will be one of the keys to enable it to do so.

Despise not prophecies (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

The world order is changing, European technology is rising, and the USA will not be able to remain on top indefinitely.

Some wish to believe otherwise, but the USA’s rising debt and moral decline, combined with European determination to move towards unity and dominance, will help insure that.
