Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Forces Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari has forecasted what he described as the upcoming downfall of Israel, tying it with Trump’s recent decision to withdraw from the JCPOA (also known as the Iran deal). He also claimed that the Iranian Ground Forces had a calendar which shows the time of the annihilation of Israel, reports Fars News Agency.

“The treatment of the nuclear deal by sill Trump will fail to produce the results desired by the Zionists and would rather speed up annihilation of the usurper regime,” he alleged.

Earlier, the Iranian envoy to the UN, Gholamali Khoshrou, wrote an official letter of condemnation of the Israeli actions to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. According to him, Tel Aviv is responsible for supporting terrorist groups in Syria.

“Israeli reckless action in this instance only helped [Daesh] and other terrorist groups in Syria. [Recent bombings] clearly demonstrate their destructive policy in assisting those groups for the purpose destabilizing the region,” the letter says.

The Iranian envoy further slammed the recent airstrikes conducted by the Israeli air force under the pretext of bombing Iranian troops allegedly deployed in Syria. Here is an American report about the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem:

STATE DEPARTMENT — 

With the opening Monday of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, the region is bracing for both celebrations and unrest.

The United States plans to host about 800 guests at an opening ceremony of its embassy. U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will be on hand, while Trump addresses the ceremony via video, reaffirming his December 2017 decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv.

“I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” Trump said at the White House late last year. “While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering.”

National Security Advisor John Bolton points out that other presidents also said they would move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, but Trump is the only one to do it.

“That’s not simply something that has an effect on the conditions in Israel, but it says to world leader all around the world, when he says he’s going to do something, he does,” Bolton told VOA on Friday.

Most of the 850 U.S. Embassy workers will remain in Tel Aviv until a new embassy building is constructed in Jerusalem. Fifty of them will make up the initial staff at the new embassy, including U.S. Ambassador David Friedman.

Some prominent Americans plan to attend the opening:

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced on Saturday that he will attend the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem on May 14. He will join the president’s delegation, which includes daughter and son-in-law Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin along with US envoys Jason Greenblatt and David Friedman.

But there is opposition to this move:

The Palestinian Authority severed its ties with the Donald Trump administration following its decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem, and some leading Muslim countries, such as Turkey and Jordan, have also criticized the decision. 05/11/18 https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/trump-moving-embassy-to-jerusalem-serves-u-s-interests-official-says-1.6076172

Palestinians and much of the world community have deplored the announcement. The USA, Israel, and a few other nations support it.

Some consider the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem as prophetic. Because of Donald Trump’s decision related to Jerusalem, some think this will make it easier for a ‘Third Temple’ to be built there and that Donald Trump is the biblical ‘Cyrus’ (see Donald Trump reportedly a ‘Cyrus’ preparing the way for a new Jewish temple and Sanhedrin releases a Trump-Cyrus ‘Temple Coin’ and Claims ‘Third Temple’ needed to avert war).

Essentially, this mainly has to do with prophecies related to animal sacrifices, though according to the Bible (see Ezra 3:6) and the Sanhedrin (see Why is a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem Not Required?), an actual ‘third temple does NOT need to be built for sacrifices to resume.

Bible prophecy shows that they will be stopped by the King of the North (Daniel 11:31) who will align with the final Antichrist.

What about war?

Yes, war or other regional conflict is possible.

One day, Jerusalem will be attacked:

8 He removed the protection of Judah. You looked in that day to the armor of the House of the Forest; 9 You also saw the damage to the city of David, That it was great; And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. (Isaiah 22:8-9)

Ultimately, and probably after conflict, a temporary peace deal will be put in place (cf. Daniel 9:27; see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).

But this will not end as hoped by the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39; see also USA in Prophecy: The Strongest Fortresses) or Israel (cf. Daniel 11:31).

Some may be surprised to realize that the Jews were not the original inhabitants of Jerusalem. The Bible tells that King David had the city of the Jebusites, now called Jerusalem, taken over:

6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.” 7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).

8 Now David said on that day, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), he shall be chief and captain.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”

9 Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward. 10 So David went on and became great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him. (2 Samuel 5:6-10)

Now after Zedekiah later rebelled, King Nebuchadnezzar’s forces took it over and destroyed it in the sixth century B.C.:

1 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 3 For because of the anger of the Lord it came to the point in Jerusalem and Judah that he cast them out from his presence.

And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 4 And in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his army against Jerusalem, and laid siege to it. And they built siegeworks all around it. 5 So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 6 On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. 7 Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled and went out from the city by night by the way of a gate between the two walls, by the king’s garden, and the Chaldeans were around the city. And they went in the direction of the Arabah. 8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him. 9 Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him. 10 The king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also slaughtered all the officials of Judah at Riblah. 11 He put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.

12 In the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month—that was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon—Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard, who served the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem. 13 And he burned the house of the Lord, and the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down. (Jeremiah 52:1-13, ESV)

So, the Jebusites were there before the Jews.

What may this have to do with the Palestinians?

Notice also the following:

The politicians Yasser Arafat and Faisal Husseini among others have claimed that Palestinian Arabs are descended from the Jebusites, in an attempt to argue that Palestinians have a historic claim to Jerusalem that precedes the Jewish one, similar to the more common Palestinian Arab claim that they are descended from the Canaanites. Thus, the 1978 Al-Mawsu’at Al-Filastinniya (Palestinian encyclopedia) asserted, “The Palestinians [are] the descendants of the Jebusites, who are of Arab origin”, and described Jerusalem as “an Arab city because its first builders were the Canaanite Jebusites, whose descendants are the Palestinians. While many do not believe the above is accurate, consider also the following from the Bible:

15 Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and Heth; 16 the Jebusite, the Amorite, and the Girgashite; 17 the Hivite, the Arkite, and the Sinite; 18 the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were dispersed. 19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; then as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. 20 These were the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, in their lands and in their nations. (Genesis 10:15-20)

So, we do see a biblical connection between Jebusites and the various Canaanites–and that there was a tie to Gaza. Palestinians dominate Gaza.

There was also Melchizedek, king of Salem (Genesis 14:18), to whom Abraham paid tithes (Hebrews 7:2). Salem appears to be a reference to early Jerusalem. This is well before there were any Jews as Judah was the great-grandson of Abraham.

The Jews were certainly not the first peoples in Jerusalem.

Although Jerusalem became the capital of Judah, he Jews were basically pushed out of Jerusalem in 606 B.C. by the Assyrians. And from then, until its destruction in 70 A.D. and then again later in 135 A.D., when the Jews were forced out and the city was renamed Aelia Capitolina, Jerusalem was under the authority of Gentile governments.

So, obviously Jerusalem was NOT the capital of the Jews for 3000 years.

In 1517, the Turks gained control for 400 years.

The Turks surrendered Jerusalem to the Brits in 1917.

The current Jewish state formed in 1948 with part of Jerusalem. The next year, David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister, said, “For the State of Israel there has always been and always will be one capital only — Jerusalem the Eternal. Thus it was 3,000 years ago — and thus it will be, we believe, until the end of time.”

Israel got the rest of Jerusalem through the war in 1967–but it will not keep it as it has.

Jesus says changes will happen:

24 … And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24)

Notice also something from the Book of Revelation:

2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. (Revelation 11:2)

Anyway, the Jews are not Gentiles, but the Palestinians are.

God says that the Gentiles will gain Jerusalem.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem will not last.

Furthermore, the Palestinians will make gains in the area according to various scriptures (see also Gaza and the Palestinians in Bible Prophecy). The Vatican may also be involved in that.

Despite certain Jewish and American hopes, steps are moving in this direction.

The US Embassy move will harden certain positions and, ultimately, contribute to the fulfillment of the fact that Gentiles are prophesied to dominate Jerusalem.

Police have shot a man who launched a knife attack in Paris dead after he killed at least one person and injured four others.

A witness told The Independent the assailant was shouting “Allahu akbar” and trying to get into restaurants as diners barricaded the doors.

Fiona said the same man came back with the knife minutes later and was “screaming Allahu akbar”.

“Some guys including my friend blocked the door in case he would try to enter,” she added.

“When we ran away they were still looking for the guy and one woman was lying down on the floor. Her neck was bleeding.”

“Allahu akbar” is an Arabic phrase that has become significant in this post-9/11 era, yet in the aftermath of the attack Tuesday in which eight people were killed and a dozen injured, official after official and news outlet after news outlet mistranslated it, insisting it means “God is great.”

An accurate translation – and even Google Translate affirms it – is “Allah is the greatest” or, literally, “Allah is greater,” as in the god Allah is greater than all other gods.

The interpretation is important, contends Islam expert Robert Spencer, because it makes clear that the threat Western Civilization faces is rooted in a historic dogma of global conquest.

“‘God is great’ is a bland statement of piety. ‘Allah is greater’ is a declaration of supremacism and superiority, and of victory over the infidels,” Spencer told WND.

The Franciscan “Lamp of Peace” is a replica of a local glass oil lamp that glows at the monastic grave of Saint Francis of Assisi who lived until 1226 and whose observations of wildlife inspired environmental ethics.

The award was first made in 1981 to the Polish trade union leader Lech Walesa. Subsequent recipients include Pope John Paul II, the Dalai Lama, Saint Teresa of Calcutta and Russia’s political leader Mikhail Gorbachev. …

Friar Thomas Freidel told Dom Radio based in Cologne, Germany, that the award was symbolized by a “very simple small lamp” traditionally used in Italy’s central Umbria region, which includes Assisi.

“The olive oil [inside] is a precious product of the oil trees of Umbria, which are similarly a symbol for peace,” Freidel said.

Light, he said, was also a “symbol that is understood across religious boundaries” and a reminder of what “underpins and sustains us here in Europe.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal has increased tensions in the Middle East.

“We are following the events between Iran and Israel, bearing in mind that Israel’s security” is important to Germany, Merkel said on Saturday in comments reported by the Ansa newswire. She spoke after receiving the Lamp of Peace of St. Francis award in Assisi, Italy.

The Bible tells of governments in the world temporarily aligning with the church of the city of seven hills:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

A type of church-state alliance will come. Though it will not be permanent (Revelation 17:16).

The old Worldwide Church of God (WCG) wrote about unity between the Europeans and the Vatican:

Elusive Unity

Over the past few decades the authority and unity of the Roman Catholic Church have been severely shaken. The festering issues of birth control, abortion, divorce, celibacy, homosexuality, women in the priesthood, political activism of priests and distribution of ecclesiastical power have greatly troubled the Church. Many even in the upper echelons of the Vatican hierarchy have expressed apprehension over the Church’s future.

At the same time, the continent of Europe itself stands at an historic crossroads. Divided ideologically between East and West and beset with serious economic and military concerns, Europe faces crucial decisions on its future. Like the Catholic Church, Europe has been weakened by division.

And both prelates and politicians alike realize that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

In the face of this division, voices within both European political circles and the Catholic Church are appealing for UNITY. But how, many ask, is that elusive unity to be achieved? How are the rifts to be healed — both within the Church and within Europe itself? …

Likewise, the Catholic Church within remains philosophically divided between liberal and conservative, despite the best efforts of unity-minded churchmen. Confronted with these realities, leading European politicians and Catholic clergymen have come to an important realization. There is only one possible course for the future, they believe.

Common Cause

If they are to solve their respective problems, Europe and the Catholic Church need each other’s help. Their common need for unity can be achieved only by working together. Once again, the past points the way to the future.

Influential churchmen inside the Vatican have come to believe that the only way to inspire unity and bring new life to the Church is to plunge it into a cause larger than itself. That cause, many believe, is the unification of Europe!

In turn, many of Europe’s political leaders see a role for the Church in their efforts. They believe the Church might once again exercise its powerful cohesive effect on Europe, providing the glue — the tie of common religion — to hold Europe together politically. Again, as in centuries past, Europeans are beginning to appreciate that religion and politics are interdependent. In essence, they are envisioning a reconstitution of the whole of classic Europe, along the lines of the old Holy Roman Empire, under Catholic aegis.

The dream of the Holy Roman Empire yet lives! …

Paul VI called the Catholic faith “the secret of Europe’s identity.” In discovering this secret, he said, Europe could then go on to perform “the providential service to which God is still calling it.”

Europe and the Cross

The Popes’ calls for the spiritual unity of Europe have been echoed by influential spokesmen In the political arena. Prominent among these is Dr. Otto von Habsburg, a key figure in the movement for European unification. Dr. Habsburg is the eldest son of the last Austro-Hungarian Emperor and a member of the European Parliament. (See “Otto von Habsburg — Man With a Mission,” March 1984 Plain Truth.)

Inter-European unity has long been a quest of the Habsburgs, as we have seen. Dr. Habsburg often speaks of the similarities between the Holy Roman Empire of the Middle Ages and his view of a coming “United States of Europe.” Dr. Habsburg has long advocated a strong religious role in any future united Europe. He regards the Roman Catholic Church as Europe’s ultimate bulwark. “The cross doesn’t need Europe,” he once stated, “but Europe needs the cross.”

Europeans, he believes, must be reawakened to their historical religious heritage. “If we take Christianity out of the European development, there is nothing left,” he declares. “The soul is gone.” …

Final Revival

Forces already have been set in motion that will revolutionize the face of Europe — and the role of the Roman Catholic Church. …

This confederated Europe will be an immense political, military and economic power — a great Third Force in world affairs, a superpower in its own right. Prophecy further reveals that this powerful church-state union will be composed of “ten horns” — meaning 10 nations or groups of nations (Rev. l7:3) — under the overall leadership of a single political figure (verse 13). Europe will again have a single political head of state!

Moreover, prophecy foretells that a religious figure of unprecedented power and authority will sit astride the “empire,” directing it as a rider guides a horse (Rev. 17:3). To counter the ongoing spread of atheism, secularism and consumerism, the Vatican — as in centuries past — will be forced to become a major power in the international arena. The political muscle of the Papacy will be reinvigorated. …

Two Legs

Now notice further: In the second chapter of the Old Testament book of Daniel, the Roman Empire and its predecessors are pictured as a giant human figure. The figure’s 10 toes correspond to the 10 end-time national units also described (as “horns “) in Revelation 17. The prophecy of Daniel reveals that these 10 entities will constitute a political system that will exist at the return of Jesus Christ to establish the kingdom of God on this earth (Dan. 2:44, 45).

The original Roman Empire was broken into two “legs,” as pictured in the human image of Daniel’s prophecy — the Eastern Empire centered at Byzantium (Constantinople) and the Empire of the West centered at Rome. Thus it is very possible that the coming reconstituted Roman Empire will be composed of two distinct yet cooperative parts: one comprising nations of Western Europe, the other incorporating nations freed from Soviet dominance in Eastern Europe. Given the fact of five toes on each foot of the human image, possibly five entities will come from the West and five from the East. …

A united Europe is inevitable. Europe awaits a modern Charlemagne, another Otto the Great, a second Charles V — a champion to resurrect the tradition of imperial unity. The coming Renovatio imperii Romanorum — restoration of the Empire of the Romans — will astound the world! Europe — and the Church of Rome — will again be powers to reckon with. (Stump K. So, European unity has been pushed by the Vatican for a long time and politicians have essentially called for Europe to be given “a soul,” in this context meaning religion. In particular, a religion that the Vatican will endorse. Since that WCG article was published, Eastern Europe did depart from being part of the old Soviet Union and much of Eastern Europe is now part of the European Union.

The Bible says that this revived European power will be militaristic (Revelation 13:1-4), dominate the economy (Revelation 13:16-18; Revelation 18), and destroy the USA (Daniel 11:39) and its Anglo-Saxon allies (cf. Daniel 8:24-25), and it will also destroy a power to rise up in the Middle East and North Africa (Daniel 11:40-43).

Notice these warnings from the old WCG:

An Ecclesiastical Counterpart

Like Daniel’s fourth beast, this many-headed creature of Revelation 13 also has close ties with a priestly potentate. According to John: “Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon [reminiscent of a wolf in sheep’s clothing]. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast . . .” (verses 11-12).

Here we see what amounts to a state-supported church using authoritarian methods in order to force people into religious idolatry. To facilitate the process, the second beast has an image of the initial state system erected (verse 14). An autocratic state organization becomes an effective model for an ecclesiastical hierarchy bent on maintaining an iron grip on the religious thoughts of its subjects.

This particular pattern of church and state authority was put to use during the Middle Ages. The medieval church was organized along patterns previously established by Imperial Rome and effectively maintained an exclusive religious monopoly throughout the Western world. Men feared the power of – the church more than virtually anything else in their lives. In that sense, the church operated by using its own structure as an object of worship. Under the Nazi Third Reich the pattern was reversed, as political party modeled itself after the church hierarchy in order to maintain control over the minds of men.

An End-Time Fulfillment

This type of church-state totalitarianism as described by John has raised its ugly head in successive revivals throughout most of Western history. And while the book of Revelation does have an ongoing historical fulfillment, its main emphasis is on events that will occur during the climactic end time just prior to the return of Christ.

In the 17th chapter of Revelation, John went on to describe a fallen woman (symbolizing a church) sitting astride a supranational state system (consisting of ten kings, see verses 10-14). Throughout most of this calamitous period, this revitalized church-state system will be operating in a high-handed fashion (verse 4). Living under its jurisdiction may be the closest thing to hell on earth that will ever occur. Religious deception during this time will be at an all-time high. According to John: “Men worshiped the dragon [Satan the Devil], for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?'” (Rev. 13:4.)

Not only will people be taken in by the beast power’s religious sleight of hand, but they will idolize its military exploits as well. In such an atmosphere it’s no surprise that the other three horsemen of the apocalypse war, famine and pestilence will be riding at full gallop.

Religious Martyrdom

During this tumultuous period of time, there will be a few stubborn souls, known as the “elect ” (Matt. 24:24), who will not be taken in by this marvelous church-state mega machine. As we have already seen, this can and will be extremely .dangerous to life and health. The resurrected church-state system, like its predecessors, will not tolerate dissension in the ranks. Under the circumstances, its actions will be very predictable. Religious persecution will be at an all-time high. As John wrote: I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus” (Rev. 17:6).

Jeremiah describes this future dark age as “the time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jer. 30: 7, KJV). Daniel calls it “a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time” (Dan. 12:1). One reason for this unprecedented world tumult will be the hyperactive involvement of Satan the devil. According to John: “Woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” (Rev. 12:12.)

Using the resurrected church-state system, Satan will direct much of his vengeful attack against God’s people – especially those doing His Work (see Rev. 11; 12:13-17; Matt. 24:9). Satan and his military and ecclesiastical minions will be so effective that the world will be brought perilously close to the brink of global cosmocide. Christ said that unless He intervened to cut short the carnage, “no human being would be saved” (Matt. 24:22). But even when He does, people will be so religiously mixed up, deceived and bamboozled that they will actually gather to fight and resist the “King of kings” when He returns to the earth (see Rev. 19:19-20; 17:14). This European power will involve religion (cf. Revelation 13:4,8, 16:13). Persecution, signs, and wonders will persuade nearly all to support that (Revelation 13:11-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). This will not end well for Europe (cf. Revelation 17:14).

What Europeans need to do is repent (Acts 2:38) and to “contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

But that is not something that many there understand. Details on the history and doctrines of the true Christian church can be found in the booklet: Continuing History of the Church of God.

Those who will not embrace the teachings and practices of the original and true Christian church will be deceived (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).

While many Jews plan to celebrate on Sunday, many Palestinians will mourn.

As far as the Temple Institute goes, it wants to pressure the government in Israel to allow a Jewish Temple to be built.

Furthermore, perhaps it should be realized that the government of Israel does have a certain amount of respect for Yisrael Ariel, the founder of the Temple Institute. Yisrael Ariel is also a member of the “Re-established Sanhedrin.” Back in September 2013, my son Michael confirmed with someone at the Temple Institute that they were willing and able to begin animal sacrifices without a ‘Third Temple’–they only needed governmental permission. And the next month, I also personally confirmed that with someone at the Temple Institute when I was in Jerusalem.

The Bible clearly shows that animal sacrifices can be done without an actual large temple.

Until Solomon built the first temple (1 Kings 6:14), the Bible shows that the Jews sacrificed on altars. David, Solomon’s father, for example sacrificed on an altar (2 Samuel 24:25), as did Aaron and his descendants (Exodus 20:24; Leviticus 1:10-11).  And prior to all of that, Abel (Genesis 4:4), Noah (Genesis 8:20), Abraham (Genesis 22:9-13), and others sacrificed animals to God.

So for over 3,000 years, animal sacrifices were offered without a Jewish temple.

Even after the first Jerusalem temple was built and left in ruins, the Bible itself specifically shows that sacrifices were made in the time of Ezra BEFORE the second temple was ready:

6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid. (Ezra 3:6)

One may argue that since it takes the participation of Jewish religious leaders in order for Jewish animal sacrifices to be resumed in the 21st century, that the above scripture is a moot point.

And it might be if there were no Jewish religious leaders that thought that they could not sacrifice without a temple.

Yet the fact is, that although they are in the minority, there are significant numbers of Jewish religious leaders who are intent on starting animal sacrifices as soon as possible. And these Jewish leaders do not believe that they have to wait in order for a temple to be rebuilt in order to do so.

Notice the following:

The 71 members of the “Re-established Sanhedrin” say they want to begin sacrificing animals again, despite the absence of the Temple, the ritual altar and all the required implements listed in the Bible. Rabbi Dov Stein of the group admitted…

“We want to do the sacrifice, but we have political problems,” Stein said. “We hope there will come a time when the government will agree. We will push for that to happen.” (Rabbis aim to renew animal sacrifices. Associated Press. Feb 28, 2007. http://www.jpost.com)

The “Sanhedrin” group referred to above began to form in 2004 and claims to have “the consent of hundreds of rabbis, scholars and leaders” (http://www.thesanhedrin.org/en/index.php/The_Sanhedrin_Initiative viewed 09/11/08). It also has been working on implements, including those related to having an altar.

Now, I have been aware that many Protestants have considered that Donald Trump was a type of modern Cyrus–essentially a non-believer that God would use to do things, in Donald Trump’s case, to reduce abortions, overturn the LGBTQ agenda, support getting a Jewish temple built, etc. Actually, Donald Trump did attribute a quote to Cyrus the Great (see Donald ‘Trump of God,’ Cyrus, or Apocalyptic?) which, at least in my view, he was trying to make the Cyrus connection that he must be aware that others have claimed him to be a type of. But I do not consider this to be a biblical Church of God position.

Many evangelicals believe that Donald Trump is ushering in the end times (watch Evangelical support for Donald Trump’s Jerusalem policy). Regular readers of this COGwriter Church of God News page are aware that I have written for years that Donald Trump was and would be ‘apocalyptic’ (watch also Donald: ‘Trump of God’ or Apocalyptic?). But that does not mean that Donald Trump is fulfilling a ‘Cyrus’ prophecy.

While the Temple Institute wants a temple, one is not required. Consider also some writings by the late Pastor General of the old Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, let us see some of what he wrote about the “temple” in this age:

God made a prophecy in the third chapter of Malachy…Continuing, “…shall suddenly come to His temple…” What kind of temple is He coming to? Are the Jews going to tear down the Dome of the Rock and build a new temple? Oh, no!… A holy temple! Christ is coming to His church! Christ is coming to His temple! Do we see that? The church is the temple. “…in whom ye are also builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Armstrong, Herbert W. Congress of Leading Ministers Hears Defined and Reemphasized Spiritual Organization of Church. Worldwide News, March 6, 1981, p. 10)

“And are built upon the foundation of the apostles [New Testament] and prophets [Old Testament], Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy TEMPLE in the Lord” (verses 20-21). So God reveals here that the Church is: 1) the HOUSEHOLD or begotten FAMILY of God; 2) a building—a HOLY TEMPLE—fitly joined together—that is, well organized (and, of course, on GOD’S pattern). As a building—the HOLY TEMPLE to which Christ will come—it is built on a FIRM FOUNDATION: the apostles, chosen by Christ, and the prophets. …

There has been much perplexity and discussion as to when the temple will be built to which Christ shall come. Malachi’s prophecy speaks of Christ’s second coming to His temple (Malachi 3:1-6). In Haggai’s prophecy it is referred to prophetically. Zerubbabel has been sent as governor of a colony to build the second temple 70 years after the destruction of Solomon’s temple. He built the temple to which Jesus came, though it had been enlarged and embellished by the Roman Herod. But speaking of this temple, as a type and forerunner of the temple to which Christ shall come at His second coming , it is written, “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the ‘ Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:9).

It is inconceivable that the Israelis, in the present international turmoil over their possession of old Jerusalem, could ever demolish the Arab Moslem Dome of the Rock – now on the site of Solomon’s temple-and build a new one there of greater splendor and glory than Solomon’s! However, as the second temple Zerubbabel was building was a typical forerunner of the temple to which Christ shall come, even so Zerubbabel was the typical forerunner of one Christ would use in building the far more glorious temple to, which Christ shall come in His GLORY!

Zechariah 4:9 : “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it . . .. ” And as Zerubbabel’s hands did finish that second temple, so shall the one Christ uses in building the temple to which He shall come in His GLORY!

And the Church of God of the present day shall be a “building fitly framed together [and growing] unto an holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2:21). (Armstrong HW. 7 Proofs of God’s True Church, Part 6. Plain Truth. August, 1979, p. 38)

Many of us are being tried and tested as NEVER BEFORE–and for our own good! But, verse 11, “from the time the daily sacrifice shall be taken away ….Consider this a moment. This does NOT imply a material temple to be built in our time in Jerusalem. It does seem to imply the Israelis may restore the daily (twice daily) sacrifice–possibly at the wailing wall. (Armstrong HW. The Time We Are In, Now. Pastor General’s Report-Vol 1, No. 15, November 20, 1979, Page 2)

Various ones who profess Christ misunderstand about the temple in the church age. Christians are the temple of God according to the New Testament.

Is Donald Trump’s Jerusalem embassy move at all prophetic?

Yes.

Partially because of his decisions, events will happen in Jerusalem that will one day result in sacrifices being resumed.

Let us look at some scriptural passages:

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Daniel 9:27)

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. (Daniel 11:31)

For sacrifices to stop, they first one day must be resumed. Understand that while those scriptures are referring to sacrifices, neither one of those passages says anything about a temple being built or involved. And while that may be an obvious assumption, it is simply not a biblically required conclusion. As far as the stopping of animal sacrifices goes, there is also information on this in the article The Red Heifer, Jewish Beliefs, and the End of the World.

The Hebrew text of Daniel 11:31 uses the phrase hammiqdash hamma’oz literally “the holy place stronghold,” “the sanctuary stronghold” or “the temple stronghold” which supports the idea that it can be referring to a specific place or area (such as an area where an altar may be placed) as opposed to the idea of requiring a temple to be rebuilt in Jerusalem. Bible prophecy shows that animal sacrifices must be resumed.

Steps are moving in this direction.

The observance of Jerusalem day shows that many Jews do want Jerusalem as their capital and that many also want the ability to perform animal sacrifices.

German Chancellor Merkel is not pleased with US President Donald Trump. Notice some things she said at a Catholic conference in Muenster, Germany:

One day after Angela Merkel said Europe can no longer rely on the US “to protect it” in the aftermath of Trump’s unilateral withdrawal from the Iran nuclear accord, stating that “It’s no longer the case that the United States will simply just protect us. Rather, Europe needs to take its fate into its own hands, that’s the task of the future”, the  German Chancellor has doubled down, and said President Trump’s decision to scrap the Iran nuclear accord was “not right.”

“It’s not right to unilaterally cancel an accord that was negotiated, that was unanimously approved in the UN Security Council,” Merkel said in a speech at a Catholic religious conference in Muenster, Germany “That damages the trust in the international order.”

“What we’re seeing at the moment, which is probably the most alarming, is that multilateralism is in a real crisis” she added. The USA is being increasingly isolated. Now the USA is being blamed for damaging “the trust in the international order.” It is also being blamed for climate problems–and the United Nations is NOT the solution.

Angela Merkel’s comments are consistent with various biblical prophecies.

Because of various biblical prophecies, as well as statements that Donald Trump made prior to becoming President of the United States, I wrote the following in my book:

Donald Trump’s view of climate change is expected to set up some type of issue between the USA and Europe. Europe will tend to see the USA as an irresponsible polluter of the planet, while Europe will claim to be the protector that the world needs.  …

On May 3, 2016, I posted:

He has done so and caused much anger in Europe.

On November 7, 2016 (the day before his election), I posted:

Angela Merkel’s comments are consistent with that.

Pope Francis also spoke at this conference in Muenster.  Yesterday, Pope Francis told Germans that peace requires many to agree of different faiths:

Peace continues to grow also when Christians of different confessions manifest themselves publicly united in their witness to Christ and commit themselves together in society, because Christ is our peace (Eph 2:14). Peace requires the respectful coexistence of all people of good will of all religions and of all confessions. …

The equitable participation of all men and women in the welfare of their society is the foundation of lasting peace. However, the equal participation of all also applies to all men of all societies throughout the world. The great help of the Church, the associations and many parishes makes a valuable contribution in this area. …

We also look to Mary, who as Mother of the Church has prayed together with the apostles for the coming of the Holy Spirit. May Mary accompany and support our search for peace. … I cordially impart my apostolic blessing to those of you who have gathered in Münster, and to all the faithful of God’s people in Germany. The Pope expects the Vatican to be involved in major peace deals. Expect Vatican endorsement of the Daniel 9:27 deal (see also The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27).

Pope Francis is an ecumenically-oriented pontiff, and we have seen more ecumenically-oriented Orthodox and Protestant leaders the past several years than have been seen in centuries. Many seem to have similar objectives. Even the head of the United Nations supports their agenda (see United Nations: Humankind’s Last Hope or New World Order?).

So, we see the head of Germany speaking at a Catholic conference, chastising the USA, and also calling for Europe to take its fate in its own hands.

And we see the head of the Church of Rome promoting an interfaith peace program.

The end time final Mystery Babylon is in the process of forming (watch also Do You Know That Babylon is Forming?).

Europe will one day not only stop relying on the military of the USA, it will one day destroy the USA (Daniel 11:39) and its Anglo-Saxon descended allies (Daniel 8:24-25).

Before that, a temporary ‘peace deal’ will be implemented (The ‘Peace Deal’ of Daniel 9:27)–Europe and the Vatican will be involved.

The statements at the Muenster conference are consistent with biblical prophecies.

Defending the Christian world – view has biblical basis. First Peter 3:15 says, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” The word defense in this passage is translated from the Greek apologia, which basically means “to give a rational defense of an opinion or belief” — that is, to provide reasons for how one thinks or believes. Christian apologetics , then, is the rational defense of Christianity as an accurate truth claim. Several other scriptures corroborate the biblical mandate to defend Christianity (Acts 17:2; Philippians 1:17; Titus 1:9; Jude 3).

Christianity’s legitimacy depends on the integrity of the Bible — specifically, the New Testament, the record of Jesus Christ’s miraculous birth, life, death, and resurrection. The New Testament assumes the reliability of the Old by referencing it often. In fact, Jesus quoted the Old Testament verbatim. If the New Testament is not historically reliable, our religion — contained in both Testaments — crumbles because Jesus Christ is the central figure of our faith. Therefore, one of the best ways to defend the Christian faith is to defend the reliability of the New Testament.

Manuscript accuracy

The primary lines of evidence supporting the trustworthiness of the New Testament are the accuracy of its surviving manuscripts and the reliability of it authors. To support this evidence, we must assert two facts: 1) The New Testament has earlier, more numerous, and more reliable surviving manuscripts than any other book from antiquity; 2) The people recording the events and teachings in these manu – scripts were reliable. This claim is validated by the number of concurring writers 1 ; the historical and archaeological confirmation of the people, culture, and places listed in the New Testament; and the critical examination of legal experts regarding its acceptability and credibility. …

Manuscript quantity, dating

The number of New Testament manuscripts is overwhelm – ing compared with other books from antiquity, which typically range from ten to twenty copies. By contrast, the New Testament has approximately 5,800 surviving Greek manuscripts. The most for any other ancient book is Homer’s Iliad , with 643, according to Norman L. Geisler in Christian Apologetics 2nd ed. (Baker Academic, 2013).

In addition, the lapse of time between the composition and the earliest copy of a book from the ancient world is roughly a thousand years. Contrast this with the earliest manuscript of a writing from the New Testament, the John Ryland Papyri ( ad 117- 138). This manuscript survived within a generation of the time scholars believe it was written (c. ad 95). Entire books (the Bodmer Papyri) are available from ad 200, only a little over a century after the New Testament was completed. The entire New Testament is actually available in the Codex Vaticanus, which dates from ad 325 to ad 350. Geisler says it was completed within 250 years of the original writing, still much less of a time lapse than any other book from antiquity.

No other book from the ancient world has as small a time gap between composition and earliest manuscript copies as the New Testament.

There are other ways to prove that the Bible has integrity, but the fact that no other ancient manuscript has as much proof is one that Christians should keep in mind when dealing with skeptics.

Let me also add that as far as ‘canonization’ goes, it is the position of the Continuing Church of God that all the books of the New Testament were known to the Apostle John and that he passed that knowledge on to people, like his successor, Polycarp of Smyrna.

The true Church of God has had confidence in the New Testament scriptures as soon as they were available.

French President Emmanuel Macron was given Europe’s Charlemagne Prize:

French President Emmanuel Macron received the Charlemagne Prize in Aachen “in recognition of his vision of a new Europe.” In his acceptance speech, Macron spelt out his long-term goals for the European bloc.
French President Emmanuel Macron was recognized for his contributions to European cohesion and integration on Thursday, as he received the Charlemagne Prize in the German city of Aachen.

In his acceptance speech, Macron praised the European project for maintaining a “miraculous” 70 years of peace on the continent and outlined the his vision for the future.

The French president called for more unity among member states and warned that the divisions that appeared during the eurozone and migrant crisis risked undermining the EU project.  …

Macron also called for a stronger Europe on the diplomatic front. “Europe has to take its fate into its own hands,” the French president said. “Because one country breaks its promise doesn’t mean we have to change our course,” he added, implicitly referring to the US’ decision to quit the Iran nuclear deal.

“If we let others decide our policies for us, then we are not creditable anymore, and our populations will not be seen creditable either.”

The Board of Directors for the Charlemagne Prize said they were honoring Macron “in recognition of his vision of a new Europe” and his “decisive stance” against nationalism and isolationism.

The bishop of Aachen, Helmut Dieser, opened the ceremony in Aachen’s Cathedral, congratulating Macron for winning last year’s French presidential election on a pro-European platform. “We therefore offer you all our respect and gratitude,” the bishop said.

The annual Charlemagne prize commends public figures who promote European unity. It is named after the founder of the Holy Roman Empire, who launched a series of wars and political reforms to build a continental European empire. Merkel Says Europe Can’t Count on U.S. Military Umbrella Anymore

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Europe can no longer count on the U.S. for military protection and must “take its destiny into its own hands.”

Merkel’s comments on Thursday reprise a theme she first sounded last year in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s “America First” foreign policy and his hectoring of European NATO allies for allegedly spending too little on defense. It’s her latest retort to Trump, who this week withdrew the U.S. from a nuclear accord with Iran that European powers say they will uphold.

“It’s no longer the case that the United States will simply just protect us,” Merkel said to applause in a speech honoring French President Emmanuel Macron, who sat behind her at a prize ceremony in Aachen, Germany. “Rather, Europe needs to take its fate into its own hands. So, Europeans are applauding more unity and not relying on the USA for its defense.

Macron is going all-in on European integration in a speech today.

• A group dedicated to the “re-foundation of Europe” to launch in the coming weeks
• Why not gives ourselves the aim to fully integrate French and German markets by 2024 and harmonize respective laws
• Calls for single European military
• Eurozone needs its own budget to finance joint investments and ensure stability against economic shocks
• Wants to re-launch European financial transaction tax plan
• Wants to gradually create European border police

This speech has been continuing for more than an hour. He’s at Sorbonne University in Paris.

We in the CCOG have always expected a type of United States of Europe. Now President Macron got an award for advocating for it. And today he subtlety advocated that Europe develop a stronger military to make Europe more “creditable.” And Angela Merkel’s comments are consistent with that.

The type of unity that President Macron has promoted, and the type of military Europe will get, will not end well for Europe (Revelation 17:12-14; Daniel 11:44-45). Europe needs the Kingdom of God (consider also watching the video Millennial Utopia).

The Charlemagne Prize is essentially a European-Catholic award. It is awarded annually by the German city of Aachen for “contributions to European unity.” Charlemagne, himself, was the first one crowned emperor of the old ‘Holy Roman Empire’ (800 A.D.).

The Bible tells of a Babylonian unity between Europe and the church of the city of seven-hills in Revelation 17:1-9,18.

Although that relationship will end (Revelation 17:15-16), the Bible tells of a religious leader who is instrumental in promoting the final European Beast of the sea in Revelation 13. That Beast is a warring power:

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”(Revelation 13:4)

Notice that a warring power is to arise. Now consider that the sea reference is to the Mediterranean Sea (Daniel 7:2-8; Numbers 34:6-7; Joshua 1:4; 9:1; 23:4; Ezekiel 47:13-16). Despite some false claims by some, the Beast power is not a nation like Russia, which does not border the Mediterranean Sea, but Europe which does (Russia, however, will be a factor in eliminating the European beast power, see also The Eurasian Union, the Kings of the East, and Bible Prophecy). A comparison of the beasts in Revelation 13 and Daniel 7 shows that they share many of the same characteristics and shows this is NOT Russia (for some details, you may wish to watch the YouTube video Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?).

Any relationship to Charlemagne?

Consider some of what the old Worldwide Church of God reported about Charlemagne:

New King Pepin dies in 768. His sons Charles (Karl) and Carloman jointly succeed to the Frankish throne.

In 771, Carloman dies suddenly, and Charles becomes sole king of the Franks.

Though only 29 years old, Charles is an imposing figure. He literally exudes power and authority!

Charles is 7 feet tall — well over a foot above average height — and robust. He is stately and dignified in bearing, but is known for his warm-heartedness and charity. He speaks a type of Old High German.

But most important, he is a zealous and dedicated Catholic Christian!

Now in undisputed possession of the Frankish throne, Charles directs his efforts against the enemies of his kingdom. His great goal is to reestablish the political unity that had existed in Europe before the invasions of the fifth century.

He first launches a campaign against the fierce Saxons, who are threatening his frontiers. The Saxons are the last great pagan German nation. During the next three decades, Charles will wage 18 campaigns in his costly and bitter struggle against the stubborn Saxons. In 804 they will finally be Christianized at the point of the sword and incorporated into his empire.

Charles also undertakes campaigns against the Bavarians, Avars, Slavs, Bretons, Arabs and numerous other peoples. During his long career, he will conduct 53 expeditions and war against 12 different nations! Charlemagne brought unity through war and the threat of war–that is similar to what the Beast of Revelation will do as well! Charlemagne was at least partially Germanic and French as likely will be that Beast (cf. Isaiah 10:5-14; see also Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North? and Germany in Biblical and Catholic Prophecy).

Despite the views of some, France will, at least for a time, support the coming Beast power (see The ‘Lost Tribe’ of Reuben: France in Prophecy? A two-part sermon related to history and prophecy is available online: The ‘Lost Tribe’ of Reuben and France and Prophecy)–and the French President is inadvertently doing that now.

What will happen in Europe will be a Babylonian unity that one day will be destroyed:

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. (Revelation 18:4-8)

Despite warnings about this in the Bible in places such as the 17th and 18th chapter of the Book of Revelation, many European leaders continue to promote something that the Bible warns against (see also German call for a ‘United States of Europe’ in five years).

The Bible shows that Europe will reorganize and end up with a strong leader:

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. (Revelation 17:12-13)

Many do not understand about this reorganization. But you can, see Must the Ten Kings of Revelation 17:12 Rule over Ten Currently Existing Nations?

The Bible also shows that Europe will have problems getting along:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. (Daniel 2:41-43)

And we see a mixture in Europe. Europe is fulfilling biblical prophecies. But notice from both the Old and New Testaments that Europe is NOT destined to bring in a real utopia, but that the coming united European power will be eliminated by God:

44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. (Daniel 2:44)

14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful. (Revelation 17:14)

The Bible warns that nearly all on the earth in the final end times will be deceived (2 Thessalonian 2:9-12) and fall for it (Revelation 13:8). Have the ‘love of the truth’ so that you will not fall for this as more and more are coming to believe that European and other worldly unity is the key to peace.

Human efforts to do this apart from the true God WILL FAIL!

Europe giving out the Charlemagne Prize will not change that. But its goal of European unity and dominance, will happen. Though the results will be temporary (Daniel 2:41-44; Revelation 17:12-14)–and the good news is that it will be replaced by the coming Kingdom of God.
