Poland’s defiance of EU law raises concern over a possible exit

Poland’s highest court has ruled that some EU laws conflict with the country’s own constitution — a move that has raised concerns about Poland’s commitment to the Union.

The European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, and the conservative government in Poland have clashed for several years over the rule of law. Brussels has accused Warsaw of undermining the independence of the judicial system and has so far held back on deciding whether to disburse post-pandemic recovery funds worth about 30 billion euros ($34 billion).

In the latest escalation of their dispute, Polish judges ruled, in a case brought by the country’s prime minister, that national law has primacy over European rules.

“The Polish Constitutional Court is not the first European court to question the principle of the primacy of EU law over national law. However, it is the first time that comes from an illegally composed Court and in those rebellious terms,” Alberto Alemanno, a professor of European law at H.E.C. Paris, told CNBC via email.

“This frontal attack is set to backfire both in the EU, where the national recovery plan will remain unapproved, and in Poland, where Poles will start questioning their government’s stance in the EU,” he added.

EU calls out Poland after controversial court ruling

Poland’s ruling against the primacy of EU law has sparked anger among some of the bloc’s member states. Poland’s prime minister has denied the possibility of a “Polexit.”

The European Commission on Friday said it would “use all powers” under its charter to ensure respect of EU law.

On Thursday, Poland’s top court said that Polish laws can take precedence over laws coming from Brussels, further deepening a rift with the EU.

“Our utmost priority is to ensure that the rights of Polish citizens are protected and that Polish citizens enjoy the benefits granted by membership of the European Union, just like all citizens of our Union,” the Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said.

The European Union is more than “a community.” It wants to be an empire.

Here are some comments related to that from the past:

Bruno Le Maire …  “Europe should no longer shy away from using its power and being an empire of peace.”

He demanded EU countries tell Mr Trump that Europe is a “sovereign continent” and should decide who it trades with itself.

“We want a way to exchange goods and services when financial flows between Iran and Europe are no longer possible,” he said.

His comments sparked fury, with Tory MEP David Campbell Bannerman warning he doubled any EU empire “would be peaceful”.

He said: “This comment repeats exactly what former EU Commissioner Barosso admitted: the EU is a form of Empire.

“Given that we are commemorating the end of the First World War and 17 million lives lost which was started through the clash of Empires: Austro Hungarian, Russian and German, this is deeply inappropriate timing. I doubt the EU Empire would be peaceful, benign or democratic.

“Unlike the USA an EU Empire would make the world less safe. Are we now to term Remoaners the new Imperialists?”

Yes, European leaders want an empire. That will one day happen (cf. Revelation 17:12-13). And yes, David Campbell Bannerman is correct to realize that a real European empire would NOT be peaceful (cf. Revelation 13:1-4; Daniel 11:39-43).

Since many in the EU want it to be an empire, it considers its law supreme to national ones.

And while it is not the European Union as currently configured, the Bible shows that Europe will become end time trading empire “Babylon.”

It is from the incident of that tower in Genesis 11 that we got the word Babylon.

The Bible shows that the globalist end time totalitarian Babylon will still form and be totalitarian.

As far as Europe becoming totalitarian goes, notice the following prophecies:

15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (Revelation 13:15-18)

Revelation 13 discusses a state and religious alliance.

The late Pastor General of the old Radio/Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong, repeatedly warned since 1934 that there would be a coming European Beast empire:

Since its inception in 1934, The Plain Truth has consistently warned that an end-time union of … nations in Europe — a “United States of Europe” — would rise within the bounds of the old Roman Empire. Now Europe’s most powerful leaders are appealing to the past as a guide for the future. … In the June-July 1934 issue of The Plain Truth — only the fifth issue of the magazine — Editor Herbert W. Armstrong wrote, on page 6, that “Scripture prophesies TWO GREAT MILITARY POWERS to arise in the last days — one the revival of the Roman Empire by a federation of 10 nations in the territory of the ancient Roman Empire; the other, ‘Gog,’ or Russia with her allies….” Mr. Armstrong further stated that “the 17th chapter of Revelation tells us the ancient Roman Empire will once more be revived, this time by a federation (Hogberg G. Process Foretold 45 Years Ago in This Magazine THE ROCKY ROAD TOWARD EUROPEAN UNITY. Plain Truth, February 1979)

So now, putting the two accounts of Jesus’ Olivet prophecy together, Matthew 24 and Luke 21, TWO THINGS are to occur, just before the Great Tribulation. 1) There will very soon … in Jerusalem … daily sacrifices once again being offered. But the ruler of the soon-coming resurrected ‘Holy Roman Empire,’ a political-military union of … European nations — will stop the daily sacrifices and profane the Holy Place … and 2) Jerusalem will be surrounded and captured (Zechariah 14:1-2) by the Fascist-Nazi armies of the European Empire, already starting to rise now out of the Common Market. They will invade Jerusalem … This European power, resurrecting for a VERY short while the Roman Empire, will take over the city of Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:2.) (Armstrong HW. JEWS TAKE JERUSALEM! Plain Truth,  June 1967)

In 1979, Dr. Herman Hoeh spoke at a WCG Feast of Tabernacles in Arizona that I attended and said that he and Herbert Armstrong were convinced that the two legs/feet of the Beast represented nations in both eastern and western Europe. He included Poland as part of the East.

It is expected that Poland will be in the final Babylonian empire, despite that fact that scriptures in places like Revelation 17 add warnings about an end-time European Babylon:

1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

9 “Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. 11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.

12 “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

15 Then he said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 17:1-18)

So, there is a tie in with Babylon, the great city of seven-hills (Rome), and a woman riding a beast.

That coin clearly depicts a woman riding a Beast. The “woman” is called Europa, which is where the word in English, Europe, comes from.

Now let’s see some of what the Bible says about the original tower of Babel in the Book of Genesis.

1 Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. 3 Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. 4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6 And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:1-9)

The European Union has 24 official languages. It also uses something like the Tower of Babel for some of its symbolism. In addition to the EU poster shown at the beginning of this post, notice the European Parliament building:

The above building was left intentionally unfinished by the Europeans. It should be of interest to note that the Tower of Babel was also an unfinished building.

But like God eventually stopped the Tower of Babel, He will also eventually stop Europe’s end time Babylon:

1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day — death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. (Revelation 18:1-8)

Europe has many ties to the Beast and the woman who rides it and this is reflected in official European coinage and art.

While just having the symbols that the Bible warns about does not completely prove that Europe will fulfill various end time prophecies related to the end time Babylonian Beast power, Europe certainly has many symbols that are consistent with it.

Poland has issues with the EU, but most Poles want to be part of it.

Yet, they do not realize how totalitarian Europe unity will become (cf. Revelation 13:16-18).

Europe will form a powerful superstate. Yes, it will seem unnatural.

Notice the following biblical prophecy about it:

41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold — the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure. (Daniel 2:41-45)

The strange mix that will become the European superstate will be destructive. And like the Tower of Babel, it will one day fall.

While Poles have reason to be concerned about it and their laws, few of them (and others) pay enough attention to true biblical prophecies to believe what will happen. Being part of Europe means loss of at least aspects of sovereignty.

In general, Poland wants to be in the EU for economic benefits as well as to try to not come under Russian domination.

But, that latter hope will one day also fail according to various biblical prophecies such as in the 50th and 51st chapters of the Book of Jeremiah (see also Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future).

Poland, like the rest of the world, needs repentance per Acts 17:30 (see also Christian Repentance).

Trying to insist on its own laws will not save it.

The National Catholic Register (NCR) reported that Pope Francis announced he intends to declare Irenaeus of Lyon. a “Doctor of the Church”:

Pope Francis to Declare St. Irenaeus a Doctor of the Church with Title ‘Doctor of Unity’

Pope Francis said on Thursday that he plans to declare St. Irenaeus of Lyon a Doctor of the Church with the title “Doctor unitatis,” meaning “Doctor of Unity.”

The Pope made the announcement in a speech to the St. Irenaeus Working Group, a group of Catholic and Orthodox theologians who conducted a study together on synodality and primacy.

“Your patron, St. Irenaeus of Lyon — whom soon I will willingly declare a Doctor of the Church with the title Doctor unitatis — came from the East, exercised his episcopal ministry in the West, and was a great spiritual and theological  bridge between Eastern and Western Christians,” Pope Francis said on Oct. 7.

St. Irenaeus was a second-century bishop and writer revered by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians …

Pope Francis expressed hope that the Catholic Church’s upcoming synod on synodality will allow Catholics around the world to reflect on synodality and Petrine primacy.

The Pope will kick off the Church’s three-year synodal process this weekend with a Mass on Oct. 10. All dioceses have also been invited to offer an opening Mass the following Sunday on Oct. 17.

“I am confident that, with the help of God, the synodal process that will begin in the coming days in every Catholic diocese will also be an opportunity for deeper reflection on this important aspect, together with other Christians,” Pope Francis said.

Pope Francis noted that the group of Orthodox and Catholic scholars had chosen St. Irenaeus as their patron.

Cardinal Kurt Koch, the president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, also participated in the papal audience with the St. Irenaeus working group.

This is interesting for two reasons.

The first is that this in another step by the Vatican to push more ecumenical unity. It is not only the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches that revere Irenaeus, many Protestants do. Actually, Baptist minister G.H. Orchard also claimed Irenaeus of Lyon was a “primitive Baptist.” Furthermore, Church of England’s Angelo Benton published a “succession list” for his church that included Irenaeus (further information can be found in the free online book: Hope of Salvation: How the Continuing Church of God Differs from Protestantism). Thus, Francis’ announcement may be favorably received by some Protestants.

But the second reason that this is interesting is that Irenaeus, despite being a heretic as far as the CCOG is concerned, he did hold some key doctrinal positions that the Roman and Orthodox Catholics do not.

For example, Irenaeus taught the millennium and the 6000/7000 year plan as he wrote:

Thus, then, the six hundred years of Noah, in whose time the deluge occurred because of the apostasy, and the number of the cubits of the image for which these just men were sent into the fiery furnace, do indicate the number of the name of that man in whom is concentrated the whole apostasy of six thousand years, and unrighteousness, and wickedness, and false prophecy, and deception (Irenaeus. Adversus haereses, Book V, Chapter 29, Verse 2. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 1. Edited by Alexander Roberts & James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

Inasmuch, therefore, as the opinions of certain [orthodox persons] are derived from heretical discourses, they are both ignorant of God’s dispensations , and of the mystery of the resurrection of the just , and of the [ earthly ] kingdom which is the commencement of incorruption, by means of which kingdom those who shall be worthy are accustomed gradually to partake of the divine nature (capere Deum ); and it is necessary to tell them respecting those things, that it behoves the righteous first to receive the promise of the inheritance which God promised to the fathers, and to reign in it, when they rise again to behold God in this creation which is renovated , and that the judgment should take place afterwards (Irenaeus. And again He says, “Whosoever shall have left lands, or houses, or parents, or brethren, or children because of Me, he shall receive in this world an hundred-fold, and in that to come he shall inherit eternal life.” For what are the hundred-fold [rewards] in this word, the entertainments given to the poor, and the suppers for which a return is made? These are [to take place] in the times of the kingdom, that is, upon the seventh day, which has been sanctified, in which God rested from all the works which He created, which is the true Sabbath of the righteous, which they shall not be engaged in any earthly occupation; but shall have a table at hand prepared for them by God, supplying them with all sorts of dishes (Irenaeus. That the whole creation shall, according to God’s will, obtain a vast increase, that it may bring forth and sustain fruits such [as we have mentioned], Isaiah declares: “And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every prominent hill, water running everywhere in that day, when many shall perish, when walls shall fall. And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, seven times that of the day, when He shall heal the anguish of His people, and do away with the pain of His stroke.” Now “the pain of the stroke” means that inflicted at the beginning upon disobedient man in Adam, that is, death; which [stroke] the Lord will heal when He raises us from the dead, and restores the inheritance of the fathers, as Isaiah again says: “And thou shall be confident in the LORD, and He will cause thee to pass over the whole earth, and feed thee with the inheritance of Jacob thy father.” This is what the Lord declared: “Happy are those servants whom the Lord when He cometh shall find watching. Verily I say unto you, that He shall gird Himself, and make them to sit down [to meat], and will come forth and serve them. Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses be without men, and the earth be left a desert. And after these things the LORD shall remove us men far away (longe nos faciet Deus homines), and those who shall remain shall multiply upon the earth.” Then Daniel also says this very thing: “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of those under the heaven, is given to the saints of the Most High God, whose kingdom is everlasting, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” And lest the promise named should be understood as referring to this time, it was declared to the prophet: “And come thou, and stand in thy lot at the consummation of the days.” Now, that the promises were not announced to the prophets and the fathers alone, but to the Churches united to these from the nations (Irenaeus. If, however, any shall endeavour to allegorize [prophecies] of this kind, they shall not be found consistent with themselves in all points, and shall be confuted by the teaching of the very expressions [in question]. For example: When the cities of the Gentiles shall be desolate, so that they be not inhabited, and the houses so that there shall be no men in them and the land shall be left desolate. For, behold, says Isaiah, the day of the Lord comes past remedy, full of fury and wrath, to lay waste the city of the earth, and to root sinners out of it. And again he says, Let him be taken away, that he behold not the glory of God.And when these things are done, he says, God will remove men far away, and those that are left shall multiply in the earth. And they shall build houses, and shall inhabit them themselves: and plant vineyards, and eat of them themselves. For all these and other words were unquestionably spoken in reference to the resurrection of the just, which takes place after the coming of Antichrist, and the destruction of all nations under his rule; in [the times of] which [resurrection] the righteous shall reign in the earth, waxing stronger by the sight of the Lord: and through Him they shall become accustomed to partake in the glory of God the Father, and shall enjoy in the kingdom intercourse and communion with the holy angels, and union with spiritual beings; and [with respect to] those whom the Lord shall find in the flesh, awaiting Him from heaven, and who have suffered tribulation, as well as escaped the hands of the Wicked one (Irenaeus. Thus Irenaeus clearly taught that after 6,000 years of human reign that there was to be a physical kingdom of God on the earth and that resurrected saints would reign in that kingdom. He also objected to those that allegorize it away, which is officially what the Greco-Roman faiths teach.

Irenaeus also taught:

But when this Antichrist shall have devastated all things in this world, he will reign for three years and six months, … and then the Lord will come from heaven in the clouds, in the glory of the Father, sending this man and those who follow him into the lake of fire; but bringing in for the righteous the times of the kingdom, that is, the rest, the hallowed seventh day; and restoring to Abraham the promised inheritance, in which kingdom the Lord declared, that “many coming from the east and from the west should sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Irenaeus. Adversus haereses, Book V, Chapter 30:4)

Here Irenaeus is teaching that the seventh one thousand years begins after the final Antichrist has reigned for 3 1/2 years. That is a millennial teaching.

Yet, officially the Roman and Eastern Orthodox churches do not teach that.

The Church of Rome now strongly condemns this belief. Notice:

676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment. The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism, especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism. (Catechism of the Catholic Church. Imprimatur Potest +Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. Doubleday, NY 1995, p. 194).

It should be noted that the millennial teaching appears to be the only doctrine associated with Antichrist that is condemned in the current official Catechism of the Catholic Church (which is the first new one in hundreds of years). The one that has the imprimatur of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger who is now called Pope Emeritus and was Pope Benedict XVI.

Furthermore, notice that Pope Benedict XVI called him:

Those in the Church of God do not consider that Irenaeus was the founder of true theology. Yet, Benedict praised one who promoted the ONLY doctrine his Catechism associated with the Antichrist!

Furthermore, Irenaeus was NOT a trinitarian, but a binitarian. Irenaeus wrote:

…there is none other called God by the Scriptures except the Father of all, and the Son, and those who possess the adoption (Irenaeus. Adversus haereses, Book IV, Preface, Verse 4. Excerpted from Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 1. Edited by Alexander Roberts & James Donaldson. American Edition, 1885. Online Edition Copyright © 2004 by K. Knight).

Notice that he does not say that the Holy Spirit is also called God. Also notice that Irenaeus states that only the Father, the Son, and those who possess the adoption (Christians) are God. This is a “binitarian”, not a trinitarian view.

Furthermore, Irenaeus claimed to have met the faithful Polycarp of Smyrna. Notice some of what Irenaeus records about Polycarp:

But Polycarp also was not only instructed by apostles, and conversed with many who had seen Christ, but was also, by apostles in Asia, appointed bishop of the Church in Smyrna…always taught the things which he had learned from the apostles, and which the Church has handed down, and which alone are true. To these things all the Asiatic Churches testify, as do also those men who have succeeded Polycarp down to the present time (Irenaeus. Adversus Haeres. Book III, Chapter 4, Verse 3 and Chapter 3, Verse 4).

So we have from this early Roman Catholic source that Polycarp and his successors in Asia Minor (at least until the time that Irenaeus wrote this, around 180 A.D.) practiced the true teachings that they learned from the apostles.

Polycarp was a Sabbath keeper, kept the biblical Holy Days, observed Passover on the 14th of Nisan/Abib, and held other doctrines that the Roman and Orthodox Catholics oppose.

So, then, how can the Vatican get away with the obvious problems of designating one who was opposed to many of its current teachings as a “Doctor of unity”?

This is because few people truly understand the truth about early Christian church history.

If so, NONE who would accept the truth would be Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, or Roman Catholic.

The original Christian church held Church of God doctrines–and even Irenaeus held to some of them.

Greetings;

Sheryl from the staff at the General Council of Churches of God, 7th Day, brought your page to light for the Board members to look at.  Thank you!

I loaned the Herbert Armstrong autobiography out, to never see it again, as I was taking the ‘Teachings of the  Worldwide COG’ courses.  I also have some Herbert Armstrong stories to tell too!

It turned out in the early 20th Century, the Herbert Armstrong approached the COG7 Board in Willamette Valley in Oregon.  He had a ‘new plan’ to preach the Gospel, but the Board’s reply, Herbert didn’t like: “Herbert, you’re a new kid on the block, let us get to know you better before we start any new plans.”

So, being Herbert, with an extensive business experience, he started his own group that grew at a fair speed.

Our group doesn’t teach Holy Days, but one part of Herbert’s book I recall is a scriptural reference to the word ‘forever’ regarding the Holy Days!  I like to refer to the Chosen People Ministries out of Toronto, NYC and Tel Aviv.  They are a Messianic Jewish group.

I end with my favorite scripture, Romans 6:1-2.  “What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  2)  God forbid.  How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

After Russia rode to Europe’s rescue and offered to increase gas supplies to the region amid soaring prices, experts said one thing had become abundantly clear: Europe is now largely at Russia’s mercy when it comes to energy, just as the U.S. had warned.

Natural gas contracts hit new highs in Europe this week — and regional benchmark prices are up almost 500% so far this year — with heightened demand and a squeeze in supply putting pressure on the energy sector as the weather turns colder.

Prices seesawed on Wednesday, hitting new highs before retreating after Russian President Vladimir Putin stepped in, offering an increase in Russia’s gas supplies to Europe.

Market analysts said the move showed that Europe was increasingly vulnerable to Russia, which is waiting for Germany to certify the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project which will bring more Russian gas to Europe via the Baltic Sea.

The $11 billion pipeline has now been completed much to the annoyance of the U.S. which has long-opposed the project, warning for years during its construction that it compromises Europe’s energy security and that Russia could seek to use energy supplies as leverage over the region.

The Obama and Trump administrations galvanized bipartisan opinion against the pipeline and President Joe Biden too announced sanctions against companies involved in the project, but these were waived in May in what was seen as an attempt by the U.S. to rebuild ties with Germany.

‘Energy blackmail’

The USA had wanted to supply Germany the natural gas instead–but at a higher cost to Germany. Germany not only did not want to pay more, it did not feel safer going towards US energy than Russian energy.

As I wrote last Spring:

Furthermore, on this date in 2019, I wrote:

That has happened–though something else will occur later.

A decade or so after I first came to the conclusion that the Germans/Europeans would make a deal with Russia against the US, I saw for the first time the following items from the old Radio Church of God:

Modern Europe is counseling and making treaties and alliances and agreements to conquer this earth! … Germany, those living in Germany, even the German government, may not yet know that they are going to join in a treaty with the Russians to destroy the United States and bring it to its knees-it is not in his “heart” to think so, but on the other hand it IS in his “heart” to destroy-the very characteristic of the Assyrian, the modern German, is a harsh, cruel, iron, dedication to militarism and destruction! …

MAN’S ONLY HOPE LIES IN TURNING TO HIS CREATOR GOD! “At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom. to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, TURN FROM THEIR EVIL, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them… Behold, I frame evil against YOU, and devise a device against YOU: return ye now EVERY ONE from his evil way and make your ways and your doings good!” (Jer. 18:7, 8, 11). The German people are now asking themselves: “Can we rely on the Americans and British?” … These questions lead to the logical conclusion that maybe the only people the Germans can rely on are themselves. They are now thinking: “Perhaps we can strike a better bargain with the Russians ourselves.” … Once a German-dominated Europe is fully established, Germany will be ready to negotiate and bargain with Russia- and behind the backs of the Western Allies if necessary. …

Here is a quotation from a circular letter issued in September, 1950 by the Nazi Geo-political Center in Madrid: “However long we may continue to milk the Americans of millions of dollars, there must come the inevitable moment when we shall have to make it crystal clear to them that we are not willing to join the fight against Russia for American interests … (Germany Plots with the Kremlin by T H. Terens, p. 15). …

Most Americans and Britons are not aware of what Germany and Europe are planning against them. This is partly due to the cunning of German. politics. …

World events are moving swiftly toward the climax when Great Britain and the United. States will be attacked, conquered and DESTROYED! (Boraker R. Are the Germans Secretly Dealing with Moscow? Plain Truth, May 1962, pp. 45-47)

The deal Russia will later make with the Europeans will not end well for the US (cf. Daniel 11:39). While Nord Stream 2, per se, is not the deal I am referring to, it helps set the stage for a deal that could take place in just a relatively few years. It should be noted that this Beast leader is NOT Russian (see also Is Russia the King of the North?), but European (watch also Can You Prove that the Beast to Come is European?). Despite claims from Protestant Joel Richardson, this Beast leader also is NOT Islamic (see also Is There an Islamic Antichrist?).

The reality is that Europe is now more dependent upon Russia for its energy than it was before Nord Stream 2.

While Russian policies are a concern to many in Europe, most Americans do not realize how perturbed the Europeans are getting with the USA. And this will not end well for the USA (Daniel 11:39) nor Europe (cf. Isaiah 10:12-19; Jeremiah 51:11). Policies and statements from the USA have been pushing the Europeans away from the USA and more towards Russia.

A recent headline was “Is Trump Pushing Germany to Russia?” There have been comments by German and Russian leaders that they have aligned interests that Donald Trump opposes and need to take financial, military, and other steps to assist Europe. Russia and the EU (European Union) still support the Iran nuclear deal, Paris Climate accords, and the World Trade Organization, despite Donald Trump’s actions against them. Have there been comments to replace the USA’s SWIFT system by the Russians and Germans? What is Russia’s MIR payment system? What about talks for the EU to have trade and other arrangements with the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union)? Did the old Radio Church of God foretell of the development of a Russian and German plan to eliminate the USA? Has Russia indicated that it wants Alaska back? While Joe Biden hoped to repair some of the issues with the Europeans, he has worsened the relationship is several ways because of his policies, actions, and inactions (e.g. see ‘Is Biden’s relationship with Europe beyond repair?’; also watch AUKUS sparking European military).

Furthermore, Joe Biden was involved in espionage matters that have upset the Europeans (see SC: US Spying On “Allies” Spoils Biden’s Set-Piece Visit To Europe). Even after he came in office, various ones in Europe believe that the USA is too damaged to lead (see Nord Stream 2 and other European moves away from the USA: USA too damaged to lead?). That view seems to be one reason that Joe Biden conceded on the Nord Stream 2 project–which he did a couple of weeks ago (see DW: Nord Stream 2: Biden says sanctions ‘counterproductive’ to US-European ties).

Joe Biden will NOT be able to stop the fulfillment of biblical prophecies. Instead, his Administration has taken steps that have alienated many in Europe and also promoted sins that will help lead to the end of the USA.

Additionally, the time will come when a deal will be made with Russia by the Europeans that will not end well for the US.

But perhaps, I should also add that Europe will one day feel the wrath of a Russian-led force which will contribute to its end (cf. Jeremiah 50:41-43, 51:11); see also Russia and Ukraine: Their Origins and Prophesied Future).

The United Nations food agency, the Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reported about rising food prices:

World food prices hit 10-year peak -FAO

World food prices rose for a second consecutive month in September to reach a 10-year peak, driven by gains for cereals and vegetable oils, the United Nations food agency said on Thursday.

The Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also projected record global cereal production in 2021, but said this would be outpaced by forecast consumption.

Is more food inflation coming?

According to the Bible, yes.

Also, rising prices for food are expected by secular sources. CBS reported:

According to the Labor Department, wholesale prices jumped 8.3 percent from August of this year compared to August of 2020 — the biggest gain since the department started tracking those prices more than a decade ago. …

“We haven’t seen anything yet,” said SuperMarketGuru.Com editor and food industry analyst Phil Lembert. “Prices are going to continue to go up for a good year and a half.”

“The biggest increases we will see has to do with anything with animals,” he said, “Whether it’s eggs or milk or pork or beef.” …

General supply chain issues like bottlenecks at the Port of Los Angeles and labor shortages are also to blame. …

CBS L.A. saw limited supplies of things like milk, butter, soda, snacks, paper products and baking supplies at stores it visited.

While not the only cause, COVID-policies (including deficit spending) have lead to supply chain problems, including food shortages and food inflation.

As Prices for Goods and Services Rise Worldwide, Inflation Feels Less ‘Transitory’

Consumers around the globe face higher prices for a wide variety of everyday purchases, as supply chain problems bedevil markets for all manner of goods, and energy prices spike to highs not seen in years.

That means consumers around the world are paying more for items like food, clothing and household supplies, and for major purchases like cars, appliances and homes. The impact is felt most acutely by low-income families, who find that their limited incomes cover fewer of their immediate needs than before.

The question on the minds of many economists, however, is whether surging prices really are “transitory,” as senior officials in the United States have been saying for months, or are they the beginning of a period of more sustained price growth than most of the world’s major economies have seen in decades.

In testimony before Congress last week, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said that “frustrating” global supply chain problems resulting from the end of pandemic lockdowns have extended a period of inflation longer than he and other central bankers had originally expected. But he said he remained confident that they would eventually resolve themselves.

“The current inflation spike is really a consequence of supply constraints meeting very strong demand, and that is all associated with the reopening of the economy, which is a process that will have a beginning, a middle and an end,” Powell said. “We see those things resolving. It’s very difficult to say how big those effects will be in the meantime or how long they will last.”

Inflation concerns

Some economists, however, worry that the Fed is underestimating the forces driving prices on everything from food to automobiles.

Yes, we are seeing food inflation.

And there are biblical reasons to conclude that inflation of food prices is NOT transitory–something much worse is coming relatively soon (cf. Jesus’ words in Matthew 24 and Revelation 6:5-6).

Furthermore, both world history and biblical writings show that it is always prudent to be prepared for food shortages.

Notice the following scriptures:

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard!
Consider her ways and be wise,
7 Which, having no captain,
Overseer or ruler,
8 Provides her supplies in the summer,
And gathers her food in the harvest.
9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep —
11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man. (Proverbs 6:6-11).

15 “Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, And an idle person will suffer hunger” (Proverbs 19:15).

4 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing. (Proverbs 20:4)

24 … they are exceedingly wise: 25 The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer; (Proverbs 30:24-25)

But won’t God provide?

3 “The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish” (Proverbs 10:3).

Yes, He will, but look at the next verses:

4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. 5 He who gathers in the summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son of shame. (Proverbs 10:4-5).

So, the Bible speaks well of those who gather in the seasons when they can.

Bible believers should take proper steps.

Notice also something from the New Testament:

10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12)

It should be understood that COIVD-19 policies, not COVID-19 itself, have caused the economic problems, plus also have increased food insecurity.

Food inflation is consistent with a prophecy in the Book of Revelation related to the third horseman that tells of a time that indicates there will be food, but that it will be quite expensive (food-price inflation):

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

The situation the world now faces will, at least for a time, worsen. But we do not seem to quite be at the start of the ride of that horseman yet.

When it happens, various ones will die as they will not be able to afford it, while others will survive but struggle.

The old Worldwide Church of God published the following:

FEEDING THE BLACK HORSE OF FAMINE

Centuries ago the greatest prophet, forecaster, and newscaster who ever lived described in vivid detail the most climactic period in all of man’s existence. The prophet, Jesus Christ, was referring to events immediately preceding the end or consummation of this present era of human history.

His answer came in response to His disciples’ question: “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” (Matt. 24:3.)

Jesus spoke of several major events that would signal the beginning of this troubled period. After false prophets and wars came a third significant indicator: “… and there will be famines” (Matt. 24:7).

Some 60 years later, Christ further elaborated on this description when He gave the apostle John the prophecies concerning the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the sixth chapter of the ‘book of Revelation. Again the same basic sequence of events is described. Following the white horse representing false Christs and the red horse of war comes the black horse of famine: “And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” (Rev. 6:5-6, KJV).

Unprecedented Famine

There have always been famines, but there have never been famines the likes of which the world is currently experiencing. Usually famines of the past came in conjunction with droughts, wars, and other natural or man-made disturbances. They were cyclical in nature. Today worldwide famine is built into the structure of world society. Famine is now a way of life for millions of people. Weather fluctuations, wars and crop failures only serve to exacerbate existing conditions.

Today’s famines also differ in both nature and size from those of the past. Never before did multiple hundreds of millions of people suffer from hunger and malnutrition at any given period in history as they do today. As Paul and Arthur Simon wrote in The Politics of World Hunger: “The population explosion has produced stress and deprivation on a scale without precedent, as well as a momentum of growth that boggles the mind” (p. 51).

So Jesus Christ was not merely guessing about future famines. He was describing an age of human existence that was unique from all others in which widespread famine was only one of many interrelated events. In the 24th chapter of Matthew, He made this clear when He said: “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be” (verse 21).

The prophet Jeremiah describes this tumultuous age as follows: “Alas! that day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob …” (Jer. 30:7).

Daniel likewise wrote: “And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time” (Dan. 12:1).

Today, modern-day prophets have finally caught up with the patriarchs of old. Notice what Robert McNamara says about this era of world history: “We have to see the population problem as part … of a much wider social and political crisis that grows deeper with each decade and threatens to round off this century with years of unrest and turbulence, a ‘time of troubles’ [emphasis ours] during which the forces of historical change threaten our frail twentieth century society with disintegration.”

Also, Georg Borgstrom states: “As a human race we are heading for Supreme Disaster, and the great challenge to our generation is to avert this calamity. It has to be done in this crucial century, or mankind may well deprive itself of both its future and its history.” (4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse – The Black Horse – Famine. WCG booklet, 1976)

COVID-19 policies are sort of a ‘self-inflicted’ wound that is contributing to food shortages. People are suffering because of them. Sadly, it looks like more will as well.

We know more hunger is coming as Jesus said:

11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; (Luke 21:11a)

What should Christians who are not hungry do?

Other than take preparatory steps for their own family (see Physical Preparation Scriptures for Christians), the Bible also teaches:

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. (Proverbs 3:27)

9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9-10)

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:14-17)

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)

Those who believe the Bible are to do good as soon as we can, to the extent that we can.

Rafi Farber, an Israeli economist and financial journalist who blogs and videos under the pen The End Game Investor, combines Torah knowledge with financial wisdom. This dual-discipline revealed a remarkable correlation.

“Every seven years on the Shemitta there is a debt reset for the entire world,” Farber explained. “This begins on Rosh Hashanna which is the New Year for the world that is marked by Jews because we are a kingdom of priests that represent the world to God. The Jewish New Year is actually Passover.”

As a student of economy, Farber noted highlights in history that were economic landmarks.

First of all, let me state that this is NOT the year 5782. The year is closer to 5992. 1900 years ago, the Jews intentionally distorted their calendar to try to point prophecies in Daniel chapter 9 to Simon Bar Kochba and away from Jesus the Christ.

Jewish Year 5779 or 5990?

According to the Jewish ‘Seder Olam Rabbah’ the period from sunset 9 September 2018 to 29 September 2019 is the year 5779 Anno Mundi (age of the world). However, the Jewish Encyclopedia, secular scholars, and modern Jewish experts have all claimed that the count is off between 164 to 200 plus years. Are we closer to the year 5990 than 5779 since Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden? Why would the Seder Olam be off by so much? Does any of this have anything to do with deceit and pointing to the false ‘messiah’ Simon Bar Kochba? Was the Messiah supposed to come after 4000 or 6000 years? Does Daniel 9:26 clearly point to Jesus? Dr. Thiel refers to Jewish accepted and other sources to answer these questions? Secondly, what about the so called Shemitah year?

Before answering that, let’s get some scriptural background.

The first day of the seventh month (Ethanim/Tishri) of the Hebrew calendar, which we call the Feast of Trumpets, was considered the beginning of the civil year. This is similar to how the first month (Nisan) was considered to be the beginning of God’s sacred year (cf. Exodus 12:2).

The beginning of each month for ancient Israel was to be marked with the blowing of trumpets per Numbers 10:10.

Every seven years there was a rest for the land–starting with the first year the children of Israel came into the promised land –and every seven years thereafter:

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the Lord. 3 Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; 4 but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. (Leviticus 25:1-5)

10 “Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. In like manner you shall do with your vineyard and your olive grove. (Exodus 23:10-11)

The land rest helped the land become more productive as well as provided assistance to the poor.

According to many of the Jews, the claimed Shemitah year runs from sunset September 6, 2021 through sunset September 25, 2022. Which was the beginning of the Feast of Trumpets in 2021 and then ending with the next one in 2022.

However, the Jews have a problem counting years as that is NOT the year 5782, but more like approximately 5991 (see Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

That being said, this claimed Shemita year has been accepted by the Messianic Jew Jonathan Cahn and certain other Protestants.

Some see economic and other disasters.

The idea of disasters coming from/during a Shemitah year was popularized eight or so years ago by Jonathan Cahn, who is perhaps best known for his book The Harbinger. I looked into the timing of this before and DO NOT BELIEVE THAT starting with sunset on September 6, 2021 a Shemitah year began, thus believe any claims based upon that are irrelevant.

Jonathan Cahn was wrong about what he taught would/might happen at the end of the last one (see September ‘convergence’: a harbinger of potential disaster?)

I also never accepted Jonathan Cahn’s belief that the Shemitah was from Trumpets 2014 to Trumpets 2015 (and denounced him for his inaccuracies there; e.g. 6000 years up and Jesus to return in 2016?)–but it seemingly helped him sell books.

I do NOT believe we are in a Shemitah year at this time. I suspect that the last one ran from sunset September 18, 2020 through sunset September 6, 2021. This coincided a bit with the COVID situation.

As far as Protestants go, let me report, that years ago, I saw an interview on CBN by Protestant Pat Robertson of Jonathan Cahn that was first broadcast 02/05/2013.

The interview screen at one point showed something that resembled two Power Point slides, apparently from Jonathan Cahn or one of his books. The first slide had the following information:

So, the above was a prediction of a possible global collapse at the end of a year that was likely NOT the Shemitah year.

Now if by tribulation, Jonathan Cahn meant the Great Tribulation, I wrote that it was not at all possible to begin then.

In September of 2015, he seemed to cautiously ‘double-down’ on his prediction as he stated:

Of course, that did not happen.

Before he was proven wrong on some of this, the well-known Protestant Pat Robertson said:

Jonathan Cahn wrote a book on the Shemitah, then when it was, in my view quite wrong, he updated it.

The 2018 updated book is titled: The Mystery of the Shemitah Updated Edition: The 3,000-Year-Old Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, the World’s Future…and Your Future! The back cover of the book states:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT? … Understanding this seven-year pattern is essential for understanding the prophecy and the mysteries of the Bible that are still applicable today … the rise–and possibly the fall–of America can be linked to the year of the Shemitah.

If this was ESSENTIAL for Christians to understand prophecy, then in my view, Jesus would have so stated. Instead, He pointed to various signs in the Gospels as well as to the Book of Daniel.

It is not just Jonathan Cahn and some Jews who have pointed to a claimed Shemitah year for possible upheaval. Notice the following from State of the Nation:

While globalists will take steps, no, the “Great Reset” is not going to be complete in 2022 or 2023.

And while there have been economic troubles and cycles, claiming a super-shemitah for 2022 as the cause of them is not biblically-justifiable.

The actual “Great Reset,” meaning the rise of the Beast, will occur about the time of the start of the Great Tribulation and that will NOT be before 2025.

But, yes, changes will come–and we will see massive disasters–but they are not related to Jonathan Cahn’s or others latest ‘Shemitah year’ predictions.

Expect inflation and other economic problems over the next 12 months. This is NOT because of a claimed Shemitah year, but mainly because of sins and government mismanagement.

Taipei has expressed grievances over China’s recent incursions into its air defense zone, adding that it fears an invasion.Taiwan’s Defence Minister on Wednesday said tensions with Beijing are the worst they have been in more than 40 years. Chiu Kuo-cheng also warned that China would be capable of launching a full-scale invasion by 2025.

China claims Taiwan as its own territory, which should be taken by force if necessary. Taiwan, on the other hand, says it is an independent country and will defend its freedoms and democracy.

The PRC is testing Joe Biden while also warning Taiwan that it has the military power to take it over.

And it does have the military ability to do so.

Some feel that the PRC does not think that the USA would provide enough military assistance to stop it from taking over Taiwan if it ever chose to do so militarily.

Beijing announced their intentions of having a friendly, amicable relationship with the Taliban, which took over Afghanistan over the weekend in light of the US withdrawal from that nation. State-run media reports that the disaster in Afghanistan should be a warning to Taiwan that the US will not help them should China seek to overtake the island.

Chinese state-run media outlet Global Times reported that “From what happened in Afghanistan, those in Taiwan should perceive that once a war breaks out in the Straits, the island’s defense will collapse in hours and US military won’t come to help.”

“As a result,” Global Times writes, “the DPP will quickly surrender.” …

The editorial in the Global Times cautions that “How Washington abandoned the Kabul regime particularly shocked some in Asia, including the island of Taiwan. Taiwan is the region that relies on the protection of the US the most in Asia, and the island’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have made Taiwan go further and further down this abnormal path. The situation in Afghanistan suddenly saw a radical change after the country was abandoned by the US. And Washington just left despite the worsening situation in Kabul. Is this some kind of omen of Taiwan’s future fate?”

In July, Chinese state media published their plans for an invasion of Taiwan. The Chinese state-controlled magazine “Naval and Merchant Ships” detailed a three-stage plan to invade Taiwan, involving ballistic missiles, fighter jet attacks, and amphibious landings on Taiwan’s beaches.

The US is an ally of of Taiwan, though China repeatedly condemns those who recognize Taiwan as an independent nation. They went so far as to demand that NBC correct a map they broadcast during the Tokyo that did not show Taiwan as part of China.

The US and Taiwan have had a defensive pact since March 3, 1955, and relations between the two nations have subsequently been governed by the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act.

The USA is NOT invulnerable and its loss in Afghanistan has sent a disturbing message to many of its allies.

That being said, Taiwan will end up aligning with China.

That has been my position for years based on biblical prophecies such as the following:

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. (Revelation 16:12)

Perhaps it should be mentioned that instead of “kings of the east,” that part of Revelation 16:12 is more literally, “kings of the sunrise”:

Taiwan is even further east, an earlier ‘sunrise’ location, than China.

Plus, China is clear that it wants Taiwan.

A couple of years ago, its top leader “Xi Jinping said Taiwan ‘must and will be’ reunited with China.”

Its recent military actions show that it may be willing to use military means.

Plus, fear is a powerful motivator.

Does this mean Taiwan must be attacked and taken over by 2025?

No.

While that could happen, what may be more likely is that after the USA is conquered (Daniel 11:39), those in Taiwan are likely to attempt to make a deal with the PRC–a deal that will make Taiwan formally part of the PRC.

Taiwan will NOT be able to rely on the USA for anything too many years from now as we are getting closer to the end of the USA and the start of the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:21-22; watch also Is the USA prophesied to be destroyed by 2028?).

Despite what its current leaders may say, Taiwan will align with the PRC.

Ancient Laodicea

Sagaris is believed to have been a martyr and faithful member of the Church of God in Laodicea of Asia Minor in the second century. Some observe October 6 in honor of his death.

The Catholic Encyclopedia records this about him and Laodicea:

The first bishops attributed to the See of Laodicea are very uncertain: St. Archippus (Colossians 4:17); St. Nymphas (Colossians 4:15; already indicated as bishop of Laodicea by the Apostolic Constitutions, 7:46); Diotrephes (III John, 9). Melito of Sardis wrote this about him:

When Servilius Paulus was proconsul of Asia, at the time that Sagaris suffered martyrdom, there arose a great controversy at Laodicea concerning the time of the celebration of the Passover, which on that occasion had happened to fall at the proper season; and this treatise was then written (Melito of Sardis. From the work on the passover. Roberts A., Donaldson J. Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 1. American Edition, 1885. See also Eusebius, Church History, Book IV, Chapter 26).

Sagaris Was A Quartodeciman

Polycrates mentions that Sagaris was among those who observed the Passover on the date that was handed down from scriptures and the Apostle John, and thus, that he did not change to Sunday when some in Rome did. The Catholic writer Eusebius recorded that Polycrates of Ephesus, around 195 A.D. wrote the following to the Roman Bishop Victor who wanted all who professed Christ to change Passover from the 14th of Nisan to Easter Sunday:

We observe the exact day; neither adding, nor taking away. For in Asia also great lights have fallen asleep, which shall rise again on the day of the Lord’s coming, when he shall come with glory from heaven, and shall seek out all the saints. Among these are Philip, one of the twelve apostles, who fell asleep in Hierapolis; and his two aged virgin daughters, and another daughter, who lived in the Holy Spirit and now rests at Ephesus; and, moreover, John, who was both a witness and a teacher, who reclined upon the bosom of the Lord, and, being a priest, wore the sacerdotal plate. He fell asleep at Ephesus. And Polycarp in Smyrna, who was a bishop and martyr; and Thraseas, bishop and martyr from Eumenia, who fell asleep in Smyrna. Why need I mention the bishop and martyr Sagaris who fell asleep in Laodicea, or the blessed Papirius, or Melito, the Eunuch who lived altogether in the Holy Spirit, and who lies in Sardis, awaiting the episcopate from heaven, when he shall rise from the dead? Hence it is clear that throughout the second century, that Sagaris and the churches in Asia Minor continued to observe the Passover on the 14th of Nisan, unlike the Romans.

Sagaris is In the Hierarchy of the Church

Interestingly, although he is not in the list of Bishops of Rome (since he was not Roman, that is logical), Sagaris is mentioned in the article on titled Hierarchy of the Early Church in The Catholic Encyclopedia:

In a synodal letter written by Polycrates of Ephesus about the year 190 this bishop, sixty-five years of age, speaks of seven of his relatives who had been bishops before him. By “hierarchy of the Church”, at least this Catholic source is suggesting that there was what is commonly referred to as “apostolic succession” in Asia Minor.

Of course, since Sagaris kept Passover on the 14th and the Church of Rome does not, the question of why did Rome change from apostolic practices is one that people considered by the Church of God and the Church of Rome to be saints, like Sagaris, poses a dilemma for the Roman followers.

Of course, there are many historical dilemmas for those who profess Christianity but have changed from the doctrines held by groups such as the Continuing Church of God.

The BBC reported about Roman Catholic clergy pedophilia in France:

French Church abuse: 216,000 children were victims of clergy – inquiry

Some 216,000 children – mostly boys – have been sexually abused by clergy in the French Catholic Church since 1950, a damning new inquiry has found.

The head of the inquiry said there were at least 2,900-3,200 abusers, and accused the Church of showing a “cruel indifference towards the victims”.

A senior figure in the French Church expressed “shame and horror” over the findings, and asked for forgiveness.

One of those abused said it was time the Church reassessed its actions.

François Devaux, who is also the founder of the victims’ association La Parole Libérée (Freed speech), said there had been a “betrayal of trust, betrayal of morale, betrayal of children”.

The inquiry found the number of children abused in France could rise to 330,000, when taking into account abuses committed by lay members of the Church, such as teachers at Catholic schools.

For Mr Devaux it marked a turning point in France’s history: “You have finally given institutional recognition to victims of all the Church’s responsibility – something that bishops and the Pope have not yet been prepared to do.” https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-58801183

The study warned that there was no reason to believe that sexual abuse of minors by Catholic Church clergy was a thing of the past, as continued abuse was still occurring in 2014, the last year of the investigative period.

Matthias Katsch, spokesperson and chair of the victims group Eckiger Tisch, said the report did not go far enough.

“The study is only a slice of the reality,” he said, adding that there were not meetings with victims, that files were destroyed and many cases were not properly documented. The Church of Rome has long had problems with sexual abuse by its clergy.

In addition to properly investigating and punishing the perpetrators, the Vatican should more seriously consider what the Bible teaches (with a Roman Catholic and Protestant translation shown below):

9 Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, 10 Nor the effeminate, nor liers with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, DRB)

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous ones will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor coveters, not drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, BLB)

Tolerance for homosexual and other abusive priests has been occurring in the Church of Rome for many, many years.

It is at least partially because of Rome’s unbiblical celibacy requirements that Rome has ended up with homosexual and other sexually immoral priests that have victimized so many over the years.

Even the Apostle Peter had a wife (Matthew 8:14).

Even Roman Catholic-approved translations of the Bible show that bishops/pastors and presbyters/elders were supposed to have a wife and children. This was partially to demonstrate they could handle a church as Paul wrote per the Roman Catholic approved Rheims New Testament:

1. FAITHFUL saying. If a man desire a Bishops office, he desireth a good work.
2. It behoveth therefore a Bishop to be irreprehensible, the husband of one wife,
sober, wise, comely, chaste, a man of hospitality, a teacher,
3. Not given to wine, no fighter, but modest, no quarreler, not covetous,
4. Well ruling his own house, chaving his children subject with all charity.
5. But if a man know not to rule his own house: how shall he have care of the Church of
God? (1 Timothy 3:1-5).

5. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest reform the things that are
wanting, and shouldst ordain priests by cities, as I also appointed thee:
6. If any be without crime, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not in the
accusations of riot, or not obedient.
7. For a Bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God: not proud, not angry, nor
given to wine, no striker, nor covetous of filthy lucre (Titus 1:5-7).

Note that the term translated as priest in verse 4, presbyter, simply means elder. Also notice that the Bishop is also allowed to be married. In Eastern Orthodox circles, while their priests are allowed to be married, their bishops are not (so men who become Orthodox bishops put away their wives and betray their marriage covenants–cf. Malachi 2:13-16; see also Was Celibacy Required for Early Bishops or Presbyters?).

Consider that the covetous are not to become bishops.

Consider also that even The Catholic Encyclopedia acknowledges that from the beginning, celibacy was not a requirement for church leaders:

Turning now to the historical development of the present law of celibacy, we must necessarily begin with St. Paul’s direction (1 Timothy 3:2, 12, and Titus 1:6) that a bishop or a deacon should be “the husband of one wife”. Celibacy became an ideal for the clergy in the East gradually, as it did in the West. In the fourth century we still find St. Gregory Nazianzen’s father, who was Bishop of Nanzianzos, living with his wife, without scandal. But very soon after that the present Eastern rule obtained. It is less strict than in the West. No one can marry after he has been ordained priest (Paphnutius at the first Council of Nicaea maintains this; the first Canon of the Synod of Neocaesarea in 314 or 325, and Can. Apost., xxvi. The Synod of Elvira about 300 had decreed absolute celibacy for all clerks in the West, Can. xxxiii, ib., pp. 238-239); priests already married may keep their wives (the same law applied to deacons and subdeacons: Can. vi of the Synod in Trullo, 692), but bishops must be celibate. As nearly all secular priests were married this meant that, as a general rule, bishops were chosen from the monasteries, and so these became, as they still are, the road through advancement may be attained (Fortesque A. Thus, the celibacy requirement for clergy did not occur until the fourth century–and many did not abide by it for centuries in various areas. Furthermore, a requirement for clerical celibacy contradicts the biblical teaching on this matter.

When the subject came up in the fourth century, a Greco-Roman bishop denounced it:

Paphnutius then was bishop of one of the cities in Upper Thebes: he was a man of such eminent piety, that extraordinary miraclas were done by him. In the time of the persecution he had been deprived of one of his eyes. The emperor honoured this man exceedingly, and often sent for him to the palace, and kissed the part where the eye had been torn out. So devout was the emperor Constantine. Having noticed this circumstance respecting Paphnutius, I shall explain. another thing which was wisely ordered in consequence of his advice, both for the good of the church and the honour of the clergy. It seemed fit to the bishops to introduce a new law into the church, that those who were in holy orders, I speak of bishops, presbyters, and deacons, should have no conjugal intercourse with the wives which they had married prior to their ordination. And when it was proposed to deliberate on this matter, Paphnutius having arisen in the midst of the assembly of bishops, earnestly entreated them not to impose so heavy a yoke on the ministers of religion: asserting that ” marriage is honourable among all, and the nuptial bed undefiled;” so that they ought not to injure the church by too stringent restrictions. ” For all men,” said he, ” cannot bear the practice of rigid continence ; neither perhaps would the chastity of each of their wives be preserved.” He termed the intercourse of a man with his lawful wife chastity. So as late as the early fourth century, the idea of required celibacy was opposed by most of the clergy.

I have believed that celibacy requirements could be loosened because it is a major goal of the Vatican to have the Eastern Orthodox, and as many of the Protestants as possible, unify with Rome. Although both biblical and certain Greco-Roman Catholic prophecies warn against this unity, they both indicate that an ecumenical religion will be adopted by nearly all the world. And, based upon my understanding of biblical and Catholic prophecies, I believe that this will be a religion that calls itself “Catholic” but which changes many doctrines. And celibacy may be one of them. Especially, since the celibacy requirement was waived for the Anglicans in 2009 who wanted to become part of the Church of Rome (see Some Anglicans Starting to Accept Pope’s Offer of Unification).

As far as pedophilia goes, the LGBTQ+ community has been encouraging it, though it tends to publicly deny that it does.

Consider the following warning from Jesus in regards to children:

42 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. (Mark 9:42)

Thousands upon thousands of Roman Catholic priests have violated this through their sexual immorality and other lusts.

They and most other people will not enter the millennial kingdom of God as the Apostle Paul basically pointed out:

⁹ Do you not realise that people who do evil will never inherit the kingdom of God? Make no mistake — the sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, the self-indulgent, sodomites, ¹⁰ thieves, misers, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers, none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, New Jerusalem Bible–a Roman Catholic approved translation)

The documented reality is that the fruits of a supposed celibate priesthood have not been good.

Now, regarding scandals in the 21st century, consider (as I posted here before) that the Roman Catholics have a couple of prophecies about it facing scandals:

Ven. Holzhauser (17th century): The Great Monarch will come when the Latin Church is desolated, humiliated, and afflicted with many heresies (Dupont Y. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, p. 114).

Nicholas of Fluh (15th century): The Church will be punished because the majority of her members, high and low, will become so perverted. (Dupont, p. 30)

We have seen that many perverts have been associated with the Church of Rome. These sex scandals have humiliated the Church of Rome (“the Latin Church”). So, if the first prediction above is correct, then we are very near the time that the “Great Monarch” will rise up. I believe he will do so this century, and likely within a decade or likely sooner.

Also, according to an Eastern Orthodox writer, the “Great Monarch” is also supposed to rise up during the time there are “very impious priests” (Tzima Otto, p. 53; see also The Great Monarch: Biblical and Catholic Prophecies)–which would be consistent with the whole sex scandal issue among the Roman Catholic priesthood.

Many may find it of interest to realize that the Great Monarch that various Eastern and Roman Catholic prophecies look forward to seems remarkably similar to the King of the North Beast power that the Bible warns against. The Great Monarch, for a time, will restore a CHANGED and even more ecumenical version of Eastern and Roman catholicism and many will go for it.

But irrespective of Greco-Roman Catholic prophecies, the revelations about the sex scandals and how the Church of Rome has handled many of them is showing major problems with the Church of Rome.

Pushing celibacy for the Roman Catholic priesthood has had terrible fruits.

Celibacy was NOT a belief of the original catholic church.
