In its latest TW News & Prophecy, LCG reported::

Nepal leads the world in gender reform.

The South Asian nation of Nepal decriminalized sodomy in 2007. This year (2011), census workers recorded not only the male and female genders, but also a “third gender.””In what is believed to be a world first, Nepal’s Central Bureau of Statistics is giving official recognition to gay and transgender people–a move seen as a major victory for equality in a country that only decriminalized homosexual relationships three years ago.” Gender rights groups in Nepal have used the courts to pressure the government into adopting policies that do not necessarily represent the views of the majority in the nation. One government spokesman for the Statistics Bureau noted, “… the new categorization was an attempt to open up the traditionally conservative country up to different points of view” (www.cnn.com, May 31, 2011).

God warned through the Apostle Paul that, “in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves… unholy… without self-control… despisers of good” (2 Timothy 3:1-3). We are witnessing a time when our global society is increasingly despising what is good and endorsing evil instead–just as God predicted!

Of course, few in Nepal actually claim to believe the Bible.  Perhaps they should read it.  Yet, the Bible teaches:

15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city! (Matthew 10:15)

People everywhere, including in Nepal, need to repent. But God is a merciful God of love and wants none to perish, but all to repent:

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The New Testament also shows that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed as an example:

6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire (Jude 6-7).

Sadly, Nepal is encouraging the going after what the Bible calls “strange flesh”.  But those there, and elsewhere, will receive an opportunity to repent.

Jesus taught, “narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). Pentecost, which includes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for the elect, also pictures that only a few will find the way in this age–but implies that others will later.

Is human modified wheat the solution?  Some think so:

Scientists: ‘Super’ Wheat To Boost Food Security

AP – June 10, 2011

Scientists say they’re close to producing new “super varieties” of wheat that will resist a virulent fungus while boosting yields up to 15 percent, potentially easing a deadly threat to the world’s food supply. The research is part of a global drive to protect wheat crops from the Ug99 strain of stem rust. It will be presented next week at a conference in St. Paul that’s part of the Borlaug Global Rust Initiative, based at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., organizers said Thursday.  http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2011/06/10/scientists-super-wheat-to-boost-food-security/

Super wheat is not the solution, but much more likely to be a disaster to wheat shortages.

The Bible is clear that humankind will NOT have a solution allowing for having lots of wheat at the time of the end, otherwise it would not have the following passage in the Book of Revelation:

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

There clearly will not be an over abundance of wheat when the above prophecy is fulfilled.  Genetically-modified crops are subject to massive devastation if they are affected by any pest (including microbial ones) or other factor that disrupts their growth.  This type of disaster seems much more likely to happen than a wheat overabundance that cannot happen (at least not at the very time that Revelation 6:5-6 is referring to, though one could temporarily happen before).

The Bible also warns:

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread (Isaiah 55:2)

And I have long wondered that other than possibly referring to white bread, if this verse may possibly refer to “bread” made with genetically-modified wheat or other grains.

Notice something that Ezekiel was inspired to write:

15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken. 16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread. 17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.'” (Ezekiel 5:15-17)

Notice that this shows famine, then pestilence, and then the sword.  The above sequence seems to be slightly different than that Jesus listed as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mathew 24:7-8) as the sword comes afterwards. But since the sword should begin the Great Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), this may be part of how the beginning of sorrows ties into the Great Tribulation–this also may suggest hunger and disease problems for the Anglo-nations prior to the start of the Great Tribulation.

The increasing use of genetically modified organisms for many of the grain crops in the USA is putting parts of humanity at major increased risk of unintended consequences such as famine and disease pestilences.  Most of the corn and soy beans produced in the USA are genetically-modified.  Soon, much of the wheat will be.  Directly and indirectly, the USA and its Anglo-allies will cause most of the problems that it will be experiencing in the next several years.

As Jesus said:

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. Westerners need to realize that this will not only affect people in places like Africa, Asia, and the Middle East–the Anglo-descended nations of the West will themselves suffer hunger, civil unrest, famine, and worse.  Super wheat will not be the solution–it is much more likely to contribute to a disaster.

In today’s update, ICG’s Mark Armstrong reported:

A deadline looms at the beginning of August on the debt ceiling, and we can all expect that to be a major issue of debate as the day approaches. Nearly every official and analyst I’ve seen or read seems very sober indeed about the economic prospects as we so thoroughly illustrated in last week’s Update.

Big trouble now seems a foregone conclusion. The question now is what form it will take. Will it be a sudden and drastic devaluation of the dollar, or will it play out over months and years with inflation eating away at our ability to survive? With the advent of community organizing and the demonstrations of angry mobs, we’ve been warned by none other than James Carville (former Clinton advisor) that massive civil unrest is likely to break out as a result of America’s economic crisis.

A debate that keeps surfacing from time to time involves the question as to whether the economic crisis is being pursued intentionally as a means of destroying our free capitalist society, or whether it is just the result of a true belief in the ideology of wealth redistribution. Regardless of which it is, we couldn’t possibly be hurtling toward trouble any faster.

We in the Living Church of God (LCG) have indicated that the USA will have civil unrest.  Now it matters not if the Obama Administration is intentionally trying to change/destroy capitalistism or not as Mark Armstrong indicated, the real cause of the debt is the sins of the American people.

In today’s TW News & Prophecy, LCG reported:

Can America Recover?

In a recent article in The Guardian, British columnist Larry Elliot made the following, profound statement, “The high levels of violent crime, epidemic of obesity, addiction to pornography and excessive use of energy may be telling us something: the US is in an advanced state of cultural decadence.” Mr. Elliot’s article, entitled, “Decline and Fall of the American Empire,” suggests that America is experiencing classic symptoms of decline previously witnessed in the fall of both the Roman and British Empires. He ended the article with the pointed suggestion for what is needed to save America from impending disaster, “Above all, America must rediscover the qualities that originally made it great. That will not be easy” (www.guardian.co.uk, June 6, 2011). Mr. Elliot’s sobering observations about the United States parallel Bible prophecies. While Elliot views America’s decline from a historical and economic perspective, Bible prophecies warn that if God’s people turn away from Him and “despise” His commandments, then God will “break the pride of [their] power” (Leviticus 26:14-19). Today, we are watching Israelite-descended nations that once rode upon the “high places” of the earth and were the “head” of nations, sadly becoming the “tail” (Deuteronomy 28:44). This is because America and other Israelite-descended nations have chosen to move “away” from God and His ways. The qualities that once made these nations great—respecting and living by many of God’s commandments and the moral principles outlined in the Bible—must be recaptured if these nations are to regain their greatness! Without national repentance (which is not likely), the USA cannot recover (though, individually, you can repent).  I reported about that cultural decadence comment earlier (see UK Writer Compares USA to Rome’s Decline).  But that and other sins are the real cause of the decline of the USA and the increase of its debt.  Debt is one of the biblical curses of disobediance:

43 The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail. 45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed…47 “Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the LORD will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you. 52 They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the LORD your God has given you (Deuteronomy 28:42-45,47-52).

And the time will come when the USA’s (as well as the UK’s) creditors will rise up suddenly (Habakkuk 2) and the USA (and UK and their Anglo-allies) will be no more.  This debt situation is that serious.  But if you personally repent, you can be spared from the hour of trial that will come on the earth (Revelation 3).

Syrians are fleeing:

Fleeing violence, Syrian refugees warn of potential massacre

As thousands of Syrians crossed into Turkey with tales of violence, many described troops amassing outside Jisr al-Shughur to take revenge for the deaths of 120 security and police forces.

The situation in Syria, Libya, and the rest of the Middle East will likely be chaotic until a strong leader rises up in that region that will transcend current national boundaries. No matter what the Syrian or Libyan government attempts to do to stop this, an pan-Arabic confederation is going to form which will cross current national boundaries.

Those of us in the Living Church of God believe that Bible prophecy tells of a time when the Arab nations will unite under a leader shown as the final King of the South in the Book of Daniel (e.g. Daniel 11:40). Many Muslims seem to be looking for such a leader, though they tend to use the title Caliph or Mahdi. We also believe that an Islamic confederation will take place that certain Europeans will support that will not turn out well for the Anglo-Israel descended peoples (Psalm 83)–including Syrians.

What is currently happening in Syria seems to aligning with the rise the leader of a pan-Arabic confederation that all should watch for as ultimately I believe that the current regime in Syria will likely change, despite it trying not to with force.

Now, the capital of Syria is Damascus (cf. Isaiah 7:8) and notice what the Bible shows will happen to it:

1 An oracle concerning Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins. 2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down,with no one to make them afraid. 3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,and royal power from Damascus;the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,” declares the LORD Almighty. (Isaiah 17:1-3)

3 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment…5 I will also break the gate bar of Damascus,
And cut off the inhabitant from the Valley of Aven,
And the one who holds the scepter from Beth Eden.
The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir,”
Says the Lord. (Amos 1:3, 5)

It is possible that the future King of the South may for a time be in Damascus and this may be part of why it will be destroyed or perhaps it is for shortly from now. If it is for years for now, this destruction may be related to the prophecy of the King of the North eliminating the King of the South in Daniel 11:40-43. The government military actions currently going on in Syria will not prevent this, either way.

Perhaps I should add that many fleeing Syria now may come back when the King of the South rises up (or even before)–and that will not be the right solution–only personal and national repentance is.

The current EU President, Herman van Rompuy, was essentially appointed.

Tony Blair made the news about four years ago when he became a Roman Catholic (see also Tony Blair a Catholic EU Leader?)–and I have wondered if he partially did this to increase his influence in the EU.   His name was promoted by several years ago who wanted to see him become the first real President of the European Union.

Europe will end up with a powerful leader.  One that the Bible refers to as the Beast (Revelation 13:1-9) and the final King of the North, and I have never believed that it would be Tony Blair as he is British.  It should be understood that ultimately, Britain will NOT thrive as part of the EU but will be taken over by the final European Beast power–yet its former Prime Minister is promoting something that will not help the peoples of the UK.

As far as this “Beast King” goes, he could possibly be the next EU president, but a restructure ultimately will be needed in Europe for the King of the North to have the type of power that the Bible indicate he will have (Revelation 17:12-13).  The EU is not ready for that yet.

This is not really a surprise as Barack Obama has indicated his preference in the past according to something I recall seeing.

The Falkland Islands are one of the last sea gates (Gilbraltar is the other) that the UK still has.  Many decades ago, the late Herbert W. Armstrong warned that he felt that the major sea gates would be taken from the USA and the UK.

For quite a few years, the major sea gates of the world were possessed/controlled by the United States (Panama Canal and certain locations in the Pacific ocean) and the British Empire (Straits of Malacca, Singapore, Suez Canal, Bab el Mandeb, Strait of Hormuz, Simon’s Town/Cape of Good Hope, etc.).  And while that is no longer the case for many of them, they seem to have been prophesied to be taken away for disobedience as well (c.f. Deuteronomy 28)—and certainly these nations have disobeyed the God of Abraham.

And the not only is the UK likely to lose the Falklands, it appears that the USA may help cause that to happen.

Solar Flare Sparks Biggest Eruption Ever Seen on Sun

A mushroom of cooled plasma popped like a pimple and rained onto the surface of the sun yesterday—shooting perhaps the largest amount of solar material into space ever seen, scientists say.

While this flare-up may cause disruption, in the future solar problems will most definitely affect the earth.

Related to solar flares, my 2009 book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect mentions:

A N.A.S.A./N.O.A.A. report indicated that the next solar cycle peak may be later, like May 2013 (New Solar Cycle Prediction. Red Orbit, May 29, 2009 www.redorbit.com/news/space/1697053/new_solar_cycle-predictor/).

While biblical sources indicate that the world cannot actually be destroyed that early, it is certainly possible that major electrical outages can occur from solar activity. This could cause various blackouts and could greatly damage civilization as we know it.

And this is consistent with the views of some other scientists. “Russian geophysicists believe that the Solar System has entered an interstellar energy cloud…Their predictions for catastrophe resulting from the Earth’s encounter with this energy cloud range from 2010 to 2020.”

There also seems to be a couple of Mayan predictions recorded in the 16^th century that suggest some type of solar flare-up will affect the earth:

Chilam Balam (Mayan priest): Heaven and earth shall burn…It is the holy judgment, the holy judgment.

Napuctun (Mayan priest): It shall burn on earth; there shall be a circle in the sky.

The Bible itself warns of a time of scorching solar heat (Revelation 16: 8-9…)

Here is what Revelation 16 teaches:

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:8-9)

It may be that God is warning people about that now with various changes in sunspot patterns and this current flare up. But most ignore warning signs. Will you?

Iran plans to triple its nuclear production capacity:

(Reuters) – Iran will shift its production of higher grade uranium to an underground bunker and triple its production capacity, it said on Wednesday in a defiant response to accusations it is trying to produce atomic bombs…

The headline of the above article was Defiant Iran plans big rise in nuclear enrichment. Iran does not seem to mind being called defiant.  The President of Iran has long believed that it is his special calling to create enough chaos in order to stimulate the arrival of an Islamic leader that he and others refer to as the Imam Mahdi. This leader is supposed to unite Islam and root out problems within its religion (see also Iran’s Ahmadinejad Does Not Want Peace).

And, while I do not believe that the final King of the South will be from Iran, it is likely that Iran’s provocative activities will be factors that will lead to the rising up of such a leader.  Of course, the events in Syria, Yemen, and elsewhere in the Middle East during this Spring show that the a re-alignment is likely to take place among the Arab nations–and while Iran believes they will turn to it, that is not what the Bible seems to foretell.

For various reasons, the Imam Mahdi that Iran wants sounds a lot like the final King of the South (the name implies south of Jerusalem, which tends to eliminate Iran as it is basically east of Jerusalem, while many of the Arab nations are south) that the Bible tells will arise (Daniel 11:40-43). While the King of the South will not fulfill everything related to Iran’s Mahdi predictions, this may not matter too much to the Arabs, who unlike the Shi’ite Iranians, are mainly Sunni Muslim. This Imam/Mahdi/Caliph may be part of a deal that will affect the USA and its Anglo-allies, as well as the nation of Israel (Psalm 83). And this will not be good.

The reality, as I long warned about, is that Iran is likely to attack Israel and/or provoke Israel to attack it. And while Iran hopes to win such an encounter in order to get the Muslim world behind it, it is much more likely that Israel would hit back hard. So hard, in fact, that the Arab world will be even more upset with Israel than it is now. Enough so that the Arab world will be more likely to accept a pan-Islamic leader, that they will refer to as a type of Caliph, that happens to be the same one that the Bible refers to as the final King of the South. I suspect that if Iran has an unsuccessful attack on Jerusalem that a Caliph-type leader will rise up from elsewhere in the Middle East and that many in Iran will support him anyway (even if all the Mahdi predictions do not come to pass).

Iran’s latest statements seem to be somewhat provocative as if to tell the world in general, and the Arabic world in particular, that it should be considered the main Islamic power. But I suspect that Iran may overplay its hand, and end up as a possible follower, and not leader, of the coming confederation to be ruled by the final King of the South (Daniel 11:40) of Bible prophecy.
