“New Gandhi” emerging in India?

NEW DELHI — An Indian activist on a hunger strike that sparked a popular campaign against corruption said Saturday he was feeling physically weak, but resolved in his demand that the government adopt his version of a bill setting up an anti-graft watchdog.

It is not currently clear to me what role, if any, Anna Hazare, will play in the future of Indian politics.  Obviously, all people are better off when there is less corruption.

According to Bible prophecy, the end of the Anglo-dominance of the world is coming (Jeremiah 30:7), and the final age of the Gentiles (Luke 21:24) will be here in a relatively few years.  And as a Gentile nation, this suggests that India will be amongst those that will further rise up.

FWIW, India will outlast the USA, though it will have its own major issues a few years after the USA is no more.

Interestingly, Indian prophecy suggests that a strong leader will rise up.

Here are some statements on that from my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect:

A Hindu from India named Vijay Kumar (he refers to himself as “The Man who Realized God In 1993”) makes the following claims…:

For the society to climb back to its pristine glory of the golden era… even the meek would handle metal (pick arms). Whatever the poor and the downtrodden lay their hands upon would become their weapon. In the last phase of the Kali Yuga we are passing through… the complete society has been taken to ransom by about 6% corrupt population comprising of politicians, bureaucrats, judiciary and police force…people await with abated breath the coming of Bhagwan Kalki…one who delivers the mankind from the existing ills of today. Bhagwan Kalki would be a spiritual master of the highest order with the deadly combination of a wise dictator (Chanakya of the modern era)…

Notice that Vijay Kumar’s writings  support a warring power—something the Bible warns against in Revelation 13:3–10.  This type of warring power will not bring in a true age of peace, even though many may proclaim that it will (cf. Ezekiel 13:10-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:3).

Also notice the following about the Avatar/Bhagwan Kalki:

Whenever there is a withering of the law
and an uprising of lawlessness on all sides,
then I manifest Myself.

For the salvation of the righteous
and the destruction of such as do evil,
for the firm establishing of the Law,
I come to birth, age after age.—Bhagavad Gita, Book IV, Sutra 5, 7, 8…

In all, the Hindu text of Kalki Purana is comprised of 6100 verses describing … Kalki, who is considered the last Avtar or incarnation of Vishnu or the Supreme Being, who will establish the Age of Truth or Age of Purity on Earth.…  As agreed by all the religious prophecies, the Awaited One will not be a man of peace like Jesus Christ or Buddha, but a man of war who will destroy evil and establish righteousness on the earth.

If views like these become predominant in the future, it may be that they will help lead to Hindus at least temporarily accepting a new religion of the coming False Prophet and the authority of the coming militaristic dictator known as Beast that the Bible warns will rise up at the end…

According to Srimad Bhagavatam – Kalki is destined to appear when the Sun, Moon and Jupiter together enters Pushya nakshatra …it then goes to give the description of his birth etc. This astrological phenomenon happens on 26/27th. July 2014 A.D. at 3:10 P. M. on a Sunday…

Hindus look forward to an age of peace, but as the following also suggests, many feel that a strong human leader is needed for it to come to pass:

Kalki Incarnation…shall herald the Golden Age of peace and plenty—the Satyayuga.  Since Kalki will be an age making Avatar, he has to be powerful and potent.

New Age Movement is Correct that Peace is Coming, but …

While a new age will temporarily come (and will make many people wealthy for a time (Revelation 18:11–16), this is not the age of the Kingdom of God.  The Bible shows that prior to the real age of peace, a warring ecumenical religion  will take over much of the world through force and economic blackmail (Revelation 13:2–17).  And this is warring age will come to an abrupt end when God orchestrates it (Revelation 18:17–20).

The Bible is also clear that while God wants people to pray for peace (Psalm 122:6), that it is God, and not humankind, who will bring peace to earth.

So, there are prophecies in India expecting a leader to rise up around 2014.  And this leader seems to be a militaristic one that some expect people to take up arms to support.

I do not believe that Anna Hazare will be that leader, but his supporters may end up supporting such a leader, at least to a degree for a while (cf. Revelation 13:3-4,8).

True peace will ultimately come, but it will be through the Kingdom of God, not human effort, including any that may be considered to be another Gandhi.

In the latest TW News & Prophecy, the Living Church of God reported:

Arab states in key UN positions in September.

In a potentially significant sequence of events, “Arab states will be chairing the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly in September as the Palestinian Authority makes its statehood bid. Lebanon is slated to preside over the Security Council in September while Qatar will head the General Assembly.”

Currently, Israel is developing oil fields off its northern coast–an area that “the Hizbullah-backed government in Lebanon has made a counter-claim to.” Some fear that Lebanon may use its new position to also move for control over the oil fields (www.IsraelNationalNews.com, August 9, 2011).

Bible prophecy reveals continued upheaval in the Holy Land up to the time of Christ’s return. It also indicates that an Arab-dominated movement, or “king of the South,” will continually “push against” not only Israel, but ultimately the European “king of the North.” Daniel 11 describes this struggle–one that will eventually result in the king of the South being destroyed by the king of the North (verses 40-43). The Muslim Brotherhood have released a statement following Israeli attacks which left five Egyptian soldiers dead, demanding that the Israeli ambassador be expelled from Egypt and that the peace treaty between the two countries be renegotiated.

Many governments have already changed in the Middle East and there is influence from the Muslim Brotherhood at times.

As I have long written here, I believe that these semi-secular replacement governments ultimately will not deliver what the people want, and then be replaced by governments that will support a pan-national Islamic leader (like the Caliph that the Muslim Brotherhood wants and/or an Imam Mahdi like the Shi’ites and some Sunnis advocate).

Ultimately the Bible tells of an Arabic confederation that will rise up with a leader that it calls the King of the South (Daniel 11:40-43).   Having some additional influence in the United Nations may affect this formation directly or indirectly.

As regular readers of this page are aware, I have had my eye on one-time German Defense Minister Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg since late 2009 as one who could possibly fulfill the role of the final King of the North. I have expected that he would likely go abroad for some time, his wife has now has said that he would move to the USA:

Former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, who resigned his Berlin post after becoming embroiled in a plagiarism scandal earlier this year, is set to move to the United States, German tabloid daily Bild reported Tuesday.

The newspaper quoted Guttenberg’s wife, Stephanie, confirming speculation that the couple and their two daughters were planning to move to the US east coast.

According to the report, the family will move in the coming weeks but there are no plans to leave Germany forever.  http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,15318322,00.html

When I posted last month that he himself indicated he was coming (see Baron Karl zu Guttenberg Moving to USA), a group I will not mention here now, indicated that I may have been in error, but apparently I was correct.  If Karl zu Guttenberg ends up being the final King of the North, I expect him to return to the USA, and it will not be good (cf. Daniel 11:39; 2 Thessalonians 2).

FWIW, perhaps I should mention that over a year ago, I also posted this about the Baron (June 14, 2010, see Guttenberg Hints of Resigning):

For various reasons, he may be out of the limelight for a while, if he does, in fact, become the final King of the North.

About that time, in my article, Might German Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg become the King of the North?, I wrote, “As far as being exiled goes, the Baron is not always popular, and he may become unpopular for a time.” I wrote the following could apply to him:

Josefa von Bourg (d. 1807): God will choose a descendant of Constantine, Pepin, and St. Louis, who has been tried by a long period of exile to rule over Europe. He will have the sign of the cross on his breast…Under him the Catholic religion will spread as never before (Culleton, The Prophets and Our Times, pp. 181-182; Connor, p.37).

Anonymou Paraphrasis (10th century): The one true King, who is inhabiting a humid place to avoid the heat; whom men have expulsed from his own dwelling and gave a place to live in the islands; who is engaged in navigation and fishing every week; (this King): will be revealed when the time of the power of the Ishmaelites comes to an end. (Tzima Otto, p. 30)

Having resigned his post as German Defense Minister and now leaving Europe, suggests, to me at least, that he may be fulfilling the writing by Josefa von Bourg.  Whether he will move to a humid place and fish remains to be seen (I do not believe that any one individual can fulfill ALL of the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox prophecies about the Great Monarch, who seems to be the same individual as the biblical King of the North, as some appear to be contradictory).

On February 25, 2011 (see Guttenberg Down, But Not Out), I posted:

And it is possible that he could end up out of the limelight, or even out of a political office, for a while.

And, this has clearly happened.

As I have mentioned before, his scandal and exile appears to be consistent with certain Roman and Orthodox Catholic prophecies about a leader commonly referred to as the Great Monarch and possibly biblical prophecy concerning the Beast, the final King of the North. Notice a passage from the Bible (three different translations shown) that seems somewhat supportive of that view:

21 And there shall stand up in his place one despised, and the kingly honour shall not be given him: and he shall come privately, and shall obtain the kingdom by fraud. (Daniel 11:21, Douay-Rheims)

21 “‘His place will be taken by a reject, a man spurned and passed over for advancement. He’ll surprise everyone, seemingly coming out of nowhere, and will seize the kingdom. (Daniel 11:21 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

21 And in his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries. (Daniel 11:21, ASV)

Many have ridiculed and rejected the Baron because of the plagiarism and many despise what he did, yet others (including the Living Church of God) suspect that he may rise up again.  Notice the following:

An article describing the scandal ended with the observation: “As for Mr. zu Guttenberg himself, it would be unwise to write him off. By stepping down now, he hopes to preserve much of the goodwill he has accumulated over the past few years. His resignation may be a prelude to resurrection rather than the end of a brilliant career” (The Economist, March 1, 2011).

Even though plagiarism appears to be a “minor” sin in relation to other horrendous abuses by public officials, it breaks the 8th and 9th commandments and results in consequences. Mr. zu Guttenberg may reemerge in politics in the future (and this bears watching), yet his actions and their ramifications reinforce the biblical principle, “be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). According to political scientist Gerd Langguth from the University of Bonn, Guttenberg will not likely stay out of the public eye for long. He told the Wednesday edition of the Thüringer Allgemeine newspaper that he sees a comeback in about three years…Langguth said Guttenberg’s “honorable statements” on Tuesday had made such a return feasible. For those who are unaware, all the Habsburg line seems to have descended from Charlemagne (King Pepin was the father of Charlemagne), and the Baron’s mother was a Habsburg. So the idea of one who is to become a ruler who has Baron Guttenberg’s ancestry is supposed to be exiled.

Here is an Eastern Orthodox prophecy about a coming leader:

Monk Leontios (no later than 912): Go hurry to the West of the Seven-Hilled City; you will find there a man who is dear to Me; he is given to prayer, he has dark hair, honey-colored {sun-tanned skin}, he is gentle and noble-minded; he is cognizant of the things of the future; and on his right foot he has a sizable callosity (Tzima Otto, pp. 84,203–p. 203 says sun-tanned was a proper translation for “honey-colored”).

Being a Baron, one who suspect that Baron zu Guttenberg would be “noble-minded” and he does have dark hair. The photographs I have seen of him show him somewhat tanned and not nearly as white-skinned as some others in Germany. It may be of interest to note that if the “Seven-Hilled City” above is Istanbul (which is more likely here) than Rome, that the town of Guttenberg (which is where he lives) is west of it.

If Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg eventually establishes a new religious order within Catholicism (cf. Daniel 11:38), promotes European unity (Revelation 17), promotes ecumenism, promotes peace in the Middle East (even if he simply makes a statement endorsing it when he is in another land, including possibly while in the USA, cf. Daniel 9:26-27), and/or otherwise rises up in European politics, he could be very interesting to watch. He now may have the time to do some of these things. If he is the one, his coming stay in the USA will give him better insight into the USA and probably contacts that he may exploit later, perhaps as a subterfuge for an attack on the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39).  If he also ends up on very good terms with Cardinal Koch (see Kurt Koch Made a Cardinal: Might He Become the Antichrist?), this may also be an indicator–and could be a strong indicator–of a possible King of the North role for the Baron.

On the other hand, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg could simply be a normal politician, with ups and downs like many others. We will see.

Much is happening in the world, and a leader known as the final King of the North (or Beast) in Bible prophecy, will ultimately become the leader of Europe. And according to the Bible, he will have military abilities (Revelation 13:1-4) and apparently be charismatic (cf. Daniel 7:20,11:21-24,31; Revelation 13:3-5). Karl zu Guttenberg seemingly fulfills these requirements.

We all should watch (cf. Mark 13:37).

In COGWA’s latest letter (8/19/11), its Board stated the following:

Of the three major steps needed to establish a permanent governance and administrative system, two are now complete—we have selected our form of governance, and the Ministerial Board of Directors has now been named. A remaining major step is for the MBOD to name a president and to approve the management team he selects…If we are right in God’s sight, then He will bless us in what we do. If we are not right then we will struggle and eventually fail…

We commit to you that our greatest priority will be the spiritual strength and spiritual growth of the Church…

We are committed to preaching that gospel to this world and teaching God’s way of life. We may be small, but there are ways to harness the powers of technology to proclaim a witness to the truth of God with a bigger and more effective voice. We are committed to getting this done!

We are committed to preserving and defending the doctrinal integrity of the Church of God and to helping the Church become stronger through being grounded in the true doctrines of Christ.

The above appears to be COGWA’s four priorities and in the order of importance to the Board.  It has spent its first 8 months of official existence mainly on trying to work out its governance (COGWA is a split from the United Church of God and all of its board members were once affiliated with Herbert W. Armstrong).  This amount of time and focus suggests that COGWA still is likely to have problems with governance/administration and perhaps will have future splits.

As far as “feeding the flock” this seems to be the second listed priority, followed by its hope to do public proclamation, followed by its commitment to doctrinal integrity.  These priorities seem neither hot nor cold  (cf. Revelation 3).  Jesus seemed to list priorities in a different order than COGWA in Matthew 28:19-20.

FWIW, at least four times in the Mystery of the Ages chapter titled, Mystery of the Church, the late Herbert W. Armstrong quotes or alludes to portions of Matthew 28:19-20. He never says that dual responsibility is finished or that he finished either part. . In his autobiography, he wrote,

In Matthew 28:19-20, God’s order is 1) go and preach the Gospel (compare with Mark’s version, same words of Jesus, Mark 16:15); 2) baptize those who repent and believe; then after that, 3) teach them to observe the commandments (Autobiography, p. 523).

Perhaps some in COGWA may wish to think about that.

To take this a step further, COGWA has in the past said that it would use the internet as its primary means of preaching the gospel to the world.

Many groups have claimed that they would utilize the internet as their main form of media to have an impact on the world. FWIW, as of 8/20/2011, the Alexa (an independent ranking source) popularity rank of COGWA’s website was 462,424, while the rank for COGwriter.com was 150,515. Essentially what this means is that even though COGWA has claimed about 8,000 members and 170+ ministers/elders, its now preferred gospel proclamation vehicle is considerably less popular than the website of a member of the Living Church of God (let alone LCG’s websites, telecasts, magazines, etc.). Actually, COGwriter seems to have 3-10 times the effectiveness of COGWA in public proclamation.

Those who differ in their opinions about COGWA’s actual priorities should consider what COGWA has really accomplished in regards to public proclamation.

In today’s TW News & Prophecy, the Living Church of God reported:

Violence and corruption in the Philippines.

“A car bomb in the southern Philippines killed one person and wounded seven Monday in an attack targeting a governor who took office after many of his relatives were slain in the country’s worst political massacre in 2009.” Among the suspects in the 2009 massacre are a “powerful family patriarch and former governor, Andal Ampatuan Sr., and a number of his sons…,” and almost 200 others!One official noted that there are many “people associated with the main massacre [and] suspects still roam the province. We know that many remnants of the suspects are still around, they’re in the thousands.” These suspects are also thought to be involved with the politically-motivated car bombing this week (Associated Press, August 15, 2011). While similar events occur worldwide almost daily, this event in the Philippines is sobering and saddening, because it illustrates the corruption, greed, and covetousness that lead to wars and strife (James 4:1). Today, the earth is filled with leaders who exist to serve themselves and will stop at nothing to achieve their desires (Ezekiel 34:3-4). Although warring and fighting is a “sign of the times” (Matthew 24:6-7), the warring and strife of the world today will soon become the “history” of Tomorrow’s World. Of course, the Philippines is not the only nation with violence and corruption.  And to its credit, it is trying to work on some of its problems (New Philippines President Vows to End Government Corruption).

In today’s TW News & Prophecy, the Living Church of God reported:

Dutch military joins “Gay Pride” parade for first time.

Three weeks ago, “A balloon-festooned barge bearing the standards of the service branches sponsored by the Defense Ministry sailed among about 80 other floats, with music blaring from most of them and dancers dressed in flamboyant costumes–or very little….” The parade in Amsterdam “capped a weeklong festival of around 300 parties and events. It included the popular ‘Drag Queen Olympics’….”

One spokesman for the Dutch army’s Foundation for Homosexuals in the Armed Forces, commented enthusiastically, “This shows everyone that the climate is changing.” A former U.S. Army lieutenant and parade spectator, discharged for violating the U.S.’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, commented, “It’s so amazing to be here. This country got it right… The Dutch have been the leaders, and Americans look up to that” (Associated Press, August 6, 2011).

Thousands of years ago, God prophesied about the Israelite-descended nations at the end of the age: “But this people has a defiant and rebellious heart; they have revolted and departed. They do not say in their heart, ‘Let us now fear the Lord our God…’ Your iniquities have turned these things away and your sins have withheld good from you” (Jeremiah 5:23-25).

Today, so much of society “refuses to be ashamed” of behaviors that God clearly states are wrong (Jeremiah 3:3). They have forgotten God for “days without number” (Jeremiah 2:32).

One day soon, Jesus Christ–the Savior–will return and “right” this sinful and suffering world. Confusion over right and wrong will cease, and people everywhere will seek God and learn His ways saying, “let us go up to the mountain of the Lord…” (Isaiah 2:2-4)!

The Bible teaches that homosexuality is an abomination:

22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)

13 If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. (Leviticus 20:13)

Notice what happened in some towns known for their homosexuality between three thousand and four thousand years ago:

24 Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. (Genesis 19:24-25)

Here is part of why that happened:

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Why mention this example in the 21st century? Because God turned:

6…the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly (2 Peter 2:6,
NKJV)

Thus, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were to serve as an example to those who would live as they did. Including in the 21st century.

Of course, not everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah were homosexuals as those that strictly practice that could not reproduce. Yet, notice that the destruction that hit their cities destroyed all that were there and notice that something like this is to happen again according to Jesus:

26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. (Luke 17:26-29)

The West can pretend that increasing “homosexual rights” is acceptable, but the Bible suggests otherwise. Of course, homosexuality is not limited to the West (see for one example, LCG: Nepal leads the world in gender reform)–but the West has been the major force trying to push the “gay agenda” for the past couple of decades. It is also interesting that a Hindu, as opposed to nominally Protestant or Catholic, nation’s health minister initially condemned homosexuality in such strong terms. Western leaders almost always shy away from condemnations–and contrary to scripture, often approve of sins that the Bible condemns, not truly realizing that approving such sins is also condemned by God (Romans 1:18-32).

These scriptures in Romans, written nearly two thousand years ago, essentially predicted resurgences of homosexuality, explain why this tends to happen, and teaches that God judges those who approve of it:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:18-32)

Many of those in the top governmental positions in the West do not wish to retain the word of God in their knowledge and endorse evolution instead of creation as the origin of life, so it is little wonder that increasing societal acceptance of homosexuality is occurring. Also notice that God warned that many would “also approve of those who practice” various forms of sin. This is what more and more government leaders are doing.

Keeping the Ten Commandments reflects love. Breaking them and/or condoning those that do is evil. This should be clear to those who believe the God of the Bible.

Report: US favors Muslim Brotherhood over pro-democracy Syrian opposition

WASHINGTON — The administration of President Barack Obama has selected the Muslim Brotherhood over the pro-democracy opposition to lead Syria after the expected ouster of President Bashar Assad, a report said. The Hudson Institute, a leading consultant to the Defense Department, asserted that the administration has decided to work with Turkey and the Brotherhood in Syria for a post-Assad government. In a report by Herbert London, the institute said Obama has dismissed the pro-democracy opposition as an alternative.

This is not the first time that the Obama Administration has indicated that it wants to work with the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East (see Obama Administration Reaches Out to Muslim Brotherhood).  Thus, the report may be accurate.

Notice a translation of what some, who are part of it, write that the Muslim Brotherhood wants:

…the Islamic Ummah [nation] can regain its power and be liberated and assume its rightful position which was intended by Allah, as the most exalted nation among men, as the leaders of humanity…

He [Hassan al-Banna] felt the grave danger overshadowing the Muslims and the urgent need and obligation which Islam places on every Muslim, man and woman, to act in order to restore the Islamic Caliphate and to reestablish the Islamic State on strong foundations and to liberate the Muslims and defend them from any attack, and to spread the Da’wa (Islamic missionary activity) of Islam in the world and to establish this great religion, which Allah wanted for his servants…

Some think that Shahada (Martyrdom) causes loss and damages the [Muslim Brotherhood] Society, since it has lost influential people in action and Jihad. This is wrong, since the fall of the Shahid (Martyr) for the sake of Da’wa (Islamic missionary activity) is [seen as] provisions and fuel for the [next] generations, and as a symbol of self sacrifice in the way of the Da’wa until realization of the goals which the [Muslim Brotherhood] Society was established for, that is, establishing the State of Islam, headed by the Islamic Caliphate, in order to establish Allah

To bring enough Arab nations together, I have felt that some type of “strongman” needed to rise up. One who Arabs would tend to respect–who might use the title Imam Mahdi and/or Caliph. The time may be now for him to rise up and the Muslim Brotherhood may play an important role. The Muslim Brotherhood is is the world’s oldest and largest Islamic political group and has been called the “world’s most influential Islamist movement” (http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/2010/11/2010111681527837704.html)–though some new group could also form.  Supporting the Muslim Brotherhood basically means supporting a multi-national Islamic power that wants a strong-man leader.

We in the Living Church of God have long taught that a pan-Islamic leader will rise up in the Middle East and become the final King of the South in Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:40).

As far as Barack Obama goes, notice something that I wrote in my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect back in 2009:

the Bible predicts that at the appointed time, a King of the North and a King of the South with rise. Various statements that Barack Obama has made suggest that he will implement policies that will likely help lead to the multi-national formations that will ultimately have these kings.

Islamic Prophecy: Barack Obama to Aid the Rise of the King of the South?

According to a commentary by Amir Taheri in Forbes, there is an amazing old Shi’ite prophecy that some in Iran believe seems to fit Barack Hussein Obama personally:

Is Barack Obama the “promised warrior” coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?

…a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.

Because we are near the end of times and Barack Hussein Obama is considered to be black and he is now the new “ruler in the West” and he does lead the” strongest army on earth”, it makes sense that a lot of Shi’ite Muslims apparently believe that he may fit that Islamic prophecy.  Apparently this prediction shows that some type of deal is made between the Mahdi (Arabic for “the guided one”) and the West.

Is any of that specific to Barack Obama?…

The fact that his name also seems to closely fit that prophecy suggests that he may. And while Barack Hussein Obama himself probably does not believe that “he is with us” (as “o bama” apparently means in Persian) refers to him in that prophecy, the fact is that no other U.S.A. president has ever been as close to Muslims as President Obama…

Barack Obama has called for increased dialogue with those considered as enemies of the U.S.A.  As mentioned earlier, even some Shi’ite Muslims believe that his presidency may lead to the rise of their Mahdi who seems to be the same person that the Bible calls the King of the South.

Because of various actions and statements it has made, the Obama Administration seems determined to (perhaps inadvertently) help support the rise of the final King of the South.

Scientists believe that solar activity may have significant ramifications in the future:

Sun storms ‘could be more disruptive within decades’

Within decades, solar storms are likely to become more disruptive to planes and spacecraft, say researchers at Reading University.

I will take this a step beyond that and state that, in the future, solar problems will most definitely affect the earth.

The Bible itself warns of a time of scorching solar heat (Revelation 16: 8-9).

Here is what Revelation 16 teaches:

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. (Revelation 16:8-9)

It may be that God is warning people about that now with various changes in sunspot patterns and this current flare up. But most ignore warning signs. Will you?

Germany had a major drop in its stock values today:

DAX suffers worst dive since November 2008

Germany’s DAX stock index plunged nearly six percent on Thursday, suffering its worst decline since November 2008 amid growing economic concerns on both sides of the Atlantic. The index of Germany’s 30 leading blue-chip companies closed at 5,602.80 points, down by 5.82 percent.  http://www.thelocal.de/money/20110818-37057.html

Jesus spoke of a time of troubles (Mark 13:8) that would be before the Great Tribulation, and Germany is subject to some of them as well.  It may be that it will take “troubles” for the final King of the North of Daniel 11 to rise up.

We in LCG believe that despite the obvious problems in Europe  including Germany (Daniel 2:42-43), that Europe will become, for a time, the world’s dominant military and economic power (per Revelation 13) with German (Assyria in scripture) dominance (Isaiah 10:5-7).

Stocks tumbled amid growing fears of a global recession, as investors confronted a grim mix of US economic data and fresh concerns about Europe’s banks.

Currently, the USA is the strongest military power on the planet, but is weakening economically, morally, and slowly militarily. Yet at the end, the USA seems to be the nation with the “strongest fortresses” that gets taken over and divided (Daniel 11:39) by the final European (cf. Daniel 9:26-27) King of the North (Daniel 11:39), who is also the Beast of Revelation 13.

As I have long written, there will be bumps in the road and other problems in Europe, and Germany will have some as well.  But I also strongly believe that these events seem to be necessary for end time prophecy to be fulfilled–as it will be.

Commentary: London Riots: “Erosion of Morality”?

Four days of mindless violence and anarchy swept across England in early August, taking five lives and engulfing 121 locations. Why? These were not, as some insinuated, “race riots”—even though the initial spark came from the police shooting of a well-known London gang member. Nor were they due to social deprivation, police brutality, political discontent, or government cuts to balance the budget. Neither were they directly related to joblessness or economic despair or poverty. After all, many places did not riot! So, what is the explanation?

British Prime Minister David Cameron had no doubts about the cause: “There are pockets of our society that are not only broken, but frankly sick… the problem… is a complete lack of responsibility, a lack of proper parenting, a lack of proper upbringing, a lack of proper ethics, a lack of proper morals… ” (Daily Telegraph, August 10, 2011).

Commenting on what he saw as “the erosion of morality” that lay behind the riots, Anglican bishop Nigel McCulloch of Manchester wrote, “Perhaps it is not surprising that a moral vacuum in some parts of our society seems to have prompted a me-first, ultra-consumerist culture, in which the quest for possession of things overrides a caring concern for others. Over the past few decades, we have nurtured confusion among people of all ages and backgrounds about what is right and what is wrong. This week we had an unpleasant glimpse of the default position to which society inevitably returns when its moral imperatives have been sidelined” (Sunday Telegraph, August 14, 2011, p. 17).

The words of the Apostle Paul, describing the immorality rampant in “the last days” of this present age, appear tailor-made to describe Britain today: “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

Prime Minister Cameron has expressed great seriousness about moral reform. What actions, then, might he consider? He could form an alliance with those who can bring clear teaching about what is right and what is wrong. Give them airtime. Give them space in our media. Raise their profile to publicise their message. Insist on it! Build up the family. Put parents back in charge of their children. Empower them to properly discipline them in love. End once and for all the gang culture that dominates many cities. In short, by word and deed, start a new “moral crusade” to bring God and His way of living back to the centre of British society.

The message is plain: Britain must change its ways or it will not survive. To steal and lie and deal falsely is wrong. To defraud your neighbour and rob him is wrong. To hate your brother in your heart is wrong. Not to revere your father and mother is wrong. We should all love our neighbours as ourselves. We should highly respect and honour our elders in society and respect law and order (see Leviticus 19:3, 11, 13, 17, 18, 32). So says the one true God who builds up and tears down nations, who blesses and curses nations on the basis of respect for His universal laws.   Read more

At this juncture in history, it does not appear that Britain will change its ways sufficiently (if at all in a truly positive manner), hence it will not survive.

Flash mobs are an international phenomenon. Along with Philadelphia and Maryland, there have also been flash mob attacks in Ohio, Illinois, Milwaukee, Iowa and Washington…Flash mobs appear suddenly and without warning. As insinuated by their name, flash mobs have little rhyme or reason. They are generally organized through technology — either on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, or through text message, BlackBerry Messenger or email. Comprised mostly by young people, flash mobs can be peaceful or violent. Sadly, recent flash mobs have trended toward the anarchic.

Lawlessness, boredom, a sense of entitlement, hate, and lack of love are all major factors in criminal riots.  The erosion of morality that John Meakin referred to is not limited to the UK.  I expect both class riots and race riots in the USA, and perhaps elsewhere.

I reported about some of the social media mobs in at least two articles last week (see Facebook Riots and UK’s Cameron May Call Out the Troops and Restrict Social Media).  In one of them I wrote:

“Social media” may be being used as a tool of the horseman of war (Revelation 6:3-4).  And at minimum, it seems to be used to stir up part of “troubles” which also have been prophesied  as part of the “beginning of sorrows” (Mark 13:8).  If we are entering a “double-dip recession” (which I have suspected we may for some time), more protests, civil unrest, and riots may also materialize.

I still expect more civil unrest and riots in the USA and UK.  And Facebook, Twitter, and/or other forms of “social media” may be tools used to help cause them.

The time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7) is getting closer, and other troubles (Mark 13:8) will happen for a few years before it gets really bad. And then it will be even worse for the people in the Great Tribulation (Mark 13:19, Matthew 24:21). National repentance seems close to impossible, but personal repentance is still possible.

God will eventually intervene in what will happen to the UK and the Anglo-descended nations (Jeremiah 30:8; Matthew 24:22), but not until it gets worse than most people have imagined (Matthew 24:21-22). The riots in the UK were barely a taste of what is to come.
