14th Century Tapestry of the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse

The Bible is tells of a time that there will be food shortages and serious food inflation:

5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6)

Is this now starting to happen?

UNITED NATIONS – The four horsemen of the apocalypse are stalking Somalia and riding further a field into the impoverished Horn of Africa.

Drought, famine, militias and global indifference plague this parched region at the mercy of weather, failed states, and donor fatigue.

The sorrows and troubles are just beginning and will get much worse.  Hopefully, people will wake up.  It did seem a bit unusual that the UN writer referred to the biblical horsemen of Revelation in this context.

The four horsemen line up with something that Jesus said:

7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
(Matthew 24:7-8)

37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Mark 13:36-37)

Tougher times are coming. And for some parts of the world these tougher time may be here now. People who can prepare, should: both spiritually and physically. Westerners need to realize that this will not only affect people in places like Africa, Asia, and the Middle East–the Anglo-descended nations of the West will themselves suffer hunger, civil unrest, famine, and worse.

Finally got some more recent information on the size of Gerald Flurry’s improperly named Philadelphia Church of God (cf. Revelation 3:9).  This came from a pre-FOT news item :

Shane Granger, marketing director for the Philadelphia Church of God…said Edmond is one of 18 sites around the world that will be attended by 4,700 members of the Philadelphia Church of God, which has 200 congregations spread over 65 countries.

Last January, Stephen Flurry stated that PCG had a worldwide attendance of “about 5500.”  So either some have been lost or about 15%  of its membership was not expected to attend the Feast of Tabernacles.

Whether 4700 or 5500, this shows that PCG is apparently 4th in size amongst groups with origins in the old WCG (excluding GCI, which no longer claims to be a COG).  Because of its extra-biblical requirements for membership, etc., I am hesitant to conclude that PCG is actually a COG.

I expect to report more statistics on various COGs later as I run into more information.

Van Rompuy said leaders were “confident we will get an agreement on Wednesday” and said European leaders – including those of France and Germany – had been “working in a spirit of compromise, in a spirit of having an ambitious package to reassure the rest of the world of our determination to safeguard the Eurozone”.

“I saw the French president and German chancellor determined to work together – together with the other members of the Eurozone. Agreement betwen France and Germany is a necessity, but is not succificient at all,” van Rompuy added.

New euro ’empire’ plot by Brussels

European Union chiefs are drawing up plans for a single “Treasury” to oversee tax and spending across the 17 eurozone nations.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/8843785/New-euro-empire-plot-by-Brussels.html

Interestingly, the above article also stated that this was a clear move to develop a “United States of Europe” essentially without Britain.  This is something that we in the Living Church of God have stated would happen for decades (though Britain could remain on the periphery of the emerging European Beast power until it is taken over).

While some few Protestants are finally starting to wake up to the reality of an emerging European superpower being the revival of the old Roman Empire to represent the Beast of Revelation, the true Church of God has known this since Polycarp.  Even when Europe was still recovering from being devasted in World War II, in the December 1948 issue of The Plain Truth Herbert W. Armstrong predicted a coming “United States of Europe” (Armstrong HW. Now It Can Be Told…The Plain Truth, December 1948, p. 5).  Hence an emerging, somewhat united, European power is something we have long taught about.

Furthermore, I have had my eye on Herman van Rompuy (the van/von is spelled differently by some in the media) for some time. And back in 2009 I suggested that he may fulfill a role in end time prophecy and raise taxes for the glory of the European empire (Daniel 11:20,, see also Herman Van Rompuy May Fulfill Daniel 11:20, But Did PCG’s Gerald Flurry Predict It?).

Perhaps if he gains more influence, he will be able to directly fulfill Daniel 11:20 (especially if he dies shortly after raising taxes). But even if he is not specifically prophesied, the trend in Europe is to go for a stronger leader as well as for one that will raise taxes.  Ultimately, a major dictator (and I do not anticipate at this time that it will be Herman van Rompuy) will rise up (Revelation 17:12-13), the final King of the North, European Beast power of Bible prophecy.

Many will be observing “Halloween” in a little more than a week. Many consider that it is a holiday appropriate for “Christians.”

One article at the mislabeled Christianity Today starts out with the statement, “I love Halloween” (Mendenhall D. A Halloween Solution. Christianity Today, October 31, 2005. http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2005/novemberweb-only/13.0.html).

But the origins of today’s Halloween are not biblical.

Do Halloween and Christianity belong together?

Halloween is an old English word which means ” hallowed evening”. It is the night before the Roman Catholic holiday that they claim to have adopted from the Eastern Orthodox now called All Saints Day (which in Mexico is celebrated as “the Day of the Dead”). Part of the public Catholic rationale for All Saints Day is that they have so many saints they wish to honor that they decided to lump all those without a specific day into this one. While some Catholics support Halloween, others oppose it.

Origins

It is believed that Halloween contains many of the remnants of an autumn holiday celebrated by the Druids called Samhain (apparently pronounced “sah-van” though some say SAH win or SOW in–and apparently meaning “summers end”). There historically have been pagan figures with names that are similar to this. For example, there was a Celtic hero named Samain or Sawan who supposedly owned a magical cow. In other pagan religions, there was Samana (“the leveler”) the name of an Aryan God of Death (a.k.a. Yama, Sradhadeva, Antaka, or Kritanta) according to the ancient Veda scriptures of Hinduism and Shamash was the Sun God of the Assyrians and Babylonians. Some of the idea for modern costumes came via France.

Essentially, the timing of Halloween seems to be related to certain movements of the sun. Notice the following:

Halloween is date of astronomical interest. It has to do with seasons: Halloween is a cross-quarter date, approximately midway between an equinox and a solstice. There are four cross-quarter dates throughout the year, and each is a minor holiday: Groundhog Day (Feb. 2nd), May Day (May 1st), Lammas Day (Aug. 1st), and Halloween (Oct. 31st).

“Long ago, the Celts of the British Isles used cross-quarter days to mark the beginnings of seasons. Winter began with Halloween, or as they called it, Samhain,” says John Mosley of the Griffith Observatory.

“Halloween marked the transition between summer and winter, light and dark — and life and death. On that one night, according to folklore, those who had died during the previous year returned for a final visit to their former homes. People set out food and lit fires to aid them on their journey — but remained on guard for mischief the spirits might do.” (Spooky Astronomy. http://spaceweather.com/ present 10/31/07).

Notice that in Asia, versions of this day, somewhat like the Celts and the pre-Hispanic Mexicans, it is celebrated near the first of August:

Japan has its own Halloween-type celebration known as “O-bon,” an old Buddhist holiday meant to honor ancestors. It takes place in mid-August or July. Graves are visited and cleaned, food offerings are made, lanterns are hung in front of houses to guide spirits, and a ritualized dance called “bon-odori” takes place to welcome them. On the last day of O-bon, to guide spirits on their journey, the Japanese partake in a ceremony called “Toro nagashi,” in which paper lanterns are floated down a river.

O-bon originates from the Chinese Buddhist celebration of “Ullambana,” which has the same notion that during this time, spirits are able to move among us.

The Ullambana Sutra, a traditionally Indian story, is the scripture that addresses this day, with the story of Mahamaudgalyayana, a disciple of Buddha, whose mother had been reborn into a lower realm. Though interpretations of the story vary, Buddha’s instructions to his student mirror modern practices of the day, which is to offer food and pray for the souls of both living and dead relatives. People also would give donations to monks.

The current celebration in Taiwan and China of the Ghost Festival pays homage to this Buddhist holiday, but includes the practices of burning money, clothes and goods, which are believed to then make it to the spirit world in full, as well as the release of paper boats and lanterns into rivers (Meaning, sanctity of Halloween is lost in translation St. Cloud Times, MN – Oct 21, 2007 http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071021/OPINION/110210041/1006/NEWS01).

Hence, the foundations of Halloween are not only Western, and certainly not of Christian origin.

Satan has successfully gotten many of his holidays endorsed by many cultures and religions of the world.

Druids and Bone Fires

Growing up I was familiar with bonfires, and simply thought that they were warm and provided light. But later I learned that there origins were related to Halloween.

Notice that:

The Druids, and order of priests in ancient Gaul and Britain, believed that on Halloween, ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches, and elves came out to harm people. They thought the cat was sacred and believed that cats had once been human beings but were changed for punishment for their evil deeds. From these Druid beliefs come the present-day use of witches, ghosts, and cats in Halloween festivities…The custom of using leaves, pumpkins, and corn stalks as Halloween decorations comes from the Druids. The early peoples of Europe also had a festival similar to the Druid holiday…In the 700s, the Roman Catholic Church named November 1 as All Saints’ Day. The old pagan customs and the Christian feast day were combined into the Halloween festival [Halloween. World Book, vol 9. Chicago, 1966: 25-26].

The origins of Halloween specifically can be traced back to the ancient Celts (who lived in what is now known as Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern France) and their Druid priests. The end of October commemerated their festival of the waning year…Druids believed that during this season spirits walked, and evil held power over the souls of men. On October 31, their New Year’s Eve, great bonfires were kindled, which were thought to simulate the sun to procure blessings for the entire succeeding year. The fires remained burning as a means to frighten away evil spirits. The Druids held these early Halloween celebrations in honor of Samhain, also known as Lord of the Dead, whose festival fell on November 1. There bonfires, or “bone fires”, were also used in animal and human sacrifice–thus the name. The tradition of lighting a bonfire has continued to modern times (Coulter F.R. Occult Holiday–or–God’s Holy Days–Which? York Publishing Company, Hollister (CA) 2006).

Growing up, no one I knew ever mentioned that bonfires originally were bone fires.

Jack-O-Lanterns

The origin of jack-o-lanterns is somewhat amusing.

The Irish have a story that a man named Jack died who was too much of a miser to be with God and was not allowed to be with the devil since he had played practical jokes on him. Since Jack had nowhere to go, he was to walk the earth carrying a lantern until Judgment Day.

The Bible

In Leviticus chapter 23, it lists

“The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts” (vs.2).

All Saints’ Day is not listed as one of them. All Saints’ Day is not a biblically enjoined feast day for Christians (there is not any hint of it in the Bible; it may even be warned against in Deut 4:15-24). Actually the Bible warns against worshipping God the way the pagans, etc. did (Leviticus 18:3; Deuteronomy 12:31, Jeremiah 10:2-3).

The Bible repeatedly warns against the practices of witches (Exodus 22:18; Deuteronomy 18:10, Galatians 5:20) and dealing with ghosts/etc. (Deuteronomy 18:11, I Chronicles 10:13).

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg

At the end of last month, I reported that Baron Karl zu Guttenberg had been appointed to be part of a US ‘think tank.’  Some have wondered why, and for the past couple of weeks, I debated posting this, but decided that some might find this to be of interest:

Why would CSIS bring on Germany’s minister of plagiarism?

The German press dubbed Guttenberg the “cut and paste minister” or the “minister of plagiarism.” So why would a prominent US think tank — an academic institution — such as CSIS bring Guttenberg on so soon after his downfall?

CSIS president and chief executive John Hamre told Think Tanked that he saw no reason to punish Guttenberg “just because some people wish to chain him to his transgression as part of their political agenda.”

“I spent some time in a seminary. I understand transgression. But I also understand redemption,” said Hamre…“I find Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg to be a creative, energetic and passionate policy intellectual. He is far more thoughtful and interesting than many politicians I have met in Europe.”Guttenberg has relocated Greenwich, Conn., and will lead a new transatlantic dialogue at the think tank in an unpaid capacity.

The above is interesting for several reasons. One of which is that apparently the Baron strikes the CSIS head as different from other European leaders–more thoughtful and more interesting.  Being more “thoughtful” is supportive of one with big plans, while being more interesting is the sign of a charismatic leader.

As regular readers of this page are aware, I have had my eye on one-time German Defense Minister Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg since late 2009 as one who could possibly fulfill the role of the final King of the North.  We will see.

It is my opinion that being part of an international “think tank” serves several possible purposes for Karl zu Guttenberg:

1. Helps rebuild his credibility.
2. Keeps his name in the political arena.
3. Gives him a forum to build political connections that may be helpful in the future.
4. Will help give him insights into US strengths and weaknesses.
5. Keeps him active in international politics.
6. Will give him American contacts that he may exploit later, perhaps as a subterfuge for an attack on the USA (cf. Daniel 11:39)

Notice something else published last week mentioning Herr Guttenberg:

…German politicians Silvana Koch-Mehrin and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg are both believed to have separately plagiarized their doctoral theses. While Guttenberg initially called the allegations “fanciful,” mounting pressure later forced him to resign.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/scott-brown-accused-of-plagiarizing-following-a-long-tradition-of-politicians-accused-of-doing-so/2011/10/13/gIQAlJqThL_blog.html

I found the above of interest as it suggests that while Baron Guttenberg resigned, he may not feel he was particularly guilty of anything of real consequence.  I believe he will later indicate that the plagiarism matter was overblown and he resigned for the good of Germany in particular and possibly Europe in general.

By becoming part of the Washington-based Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Baron Guttenberg will have contacts in the USA that he is likely to use politically in future. And since there is at least one major Israeli leader in the same think tank, this may influence him enough so that he possibly can fulfill the prophecies Daniel 9:26-27 (which he may do directly, or perhaps only through confirmation indirectly).

On the other hand, it is possible that Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg could simply be a normal politician, with ups and downs like many others. We will see.

Much is happening in the world, and a leader known as the final King of the North (or Beast) in Bible prophecy, will ultimately become the leader of Europe. And according to the Bible, he will have military abilities (Revelation 13:1-4) and apparently be popular and charismatic (cf. Daniel 7:20,11:21-24,31; Revelation 13:3-5).

Karl Guttenberg fulfills these requirements.

We all should watch (cf. Mark 13:37).

In the current edition of Tomorrow’s World magazine, Wyatt Cieselka, a minister in the Living Church of God, wrote:

Ultimately, the “Arab Spring” will not produce widespread “Western-friendly” democracy throughout the Mideast! Consider that, after 57 years in exile, the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood is now Egypt’s “best organized political movement” (The New York Times, June 19, 2011). Months after Egypt’s supposed move toward democracy, Egyptian “mobs” are attacking pro-democracy “liberal activists,” while “hundreds of thousands of Islamists” are working toward “transforming Egypt into an Islamic state” (Wall Street Journal, August 2, 2011)! Although many do desire peace, a terrible conflict is brewing, and Muslim fundamentalism is spreading…Scripture reveals that before Jesus Christ’s return, there will be a final war between a “king of the South” (a leader of the Middle Eastern regions now primarily under the sway of Islam) and a false form of “Christianity” dominated by the “king of the North” and a blasphemous “Holy Roman Empire.” (Cieselka W. Islam: At War with Christianity? Tomorrow’s World magazine, Sept-Oct 2011, p. 27)

In the same issue, Dexter Wakefield, another LCG minister, wrote:

Opinion polls show that significant majorities in many Arab countries favor the establishment of Sharia law, derived from the Qur’an and centuries of Muslim jurisprudence. Several nations, such as Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen already have Sharia law in some form. Others, such as Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Pakistan, Syria, Qatar and United Arab Emirates, mix Sharia with other systems. To the great surprise of many Western analysts, University of Maryland researchers polled Arab nations and found that substantial majorities in Pakistan, Egypt and Morocco favored the establishment of the Caliphate—which would mean autocratic Islamist rule!

Far from voting to establish liberal, Western-style democracies, Middle Eastern countries—if they are given the chance to vote—could very well choose Islamist governments like those of Gaza or Iran. Rather than establish a liberal democracy, the current democratic movements in Middle Eastern Islam could very well bring on a charismatic leader to establish a Caliphate and rule autocratically.

What Western politicians hope will be the “Arab Spring” may turn out to be the “Islamic Winter.”

The situation in Egypt, Yemen, and Libya, to name just three, is far from truly stable.  The result of the Arab Spring has been that the Muslim Brotherhood is gaining influence in the Islamic world (see also Muslim Brotherhood: Influential in Egypt, Libya, & Syria).

Notice what Wikipedia reports about the geographic influence that the Muslim Brotherhood’s founder wanted to accomplish:

In the group’s belief, the Quran and Sunnah constitute a perfect way of life and social and political organization that God has set out for man. Islamic governments must be based on this system and eventually unified in a Caliphate. The Muslim Brotherhood’s goal, as stated by Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna was to reclaim Islam’s manifest destiny, an empire, stretching from Spain to Indonesia.

Though I do not believe that it will end up with Spain, the geographic hopes of its founder and many current supporters exceeds what most in the West would tend to think of. A caliphate from Morocco to Indonesia would be huge. Even one from Morocco to Iraq would be large. Some in the Islamic world believe that the caliphate is only a step in the ultimate goal of conquering the entire world for Islam.

Here is some of what the official English-language website of the Muslim Brotherhood teaches about its history and some of its goals:

Al-Banna was chiefly responsible for formulating the policies of this association…the idea of universal muslim state was constantly implied due to the association’s focus on Islam. While strongly disapproving of local brands of Nationalism, particularly if they were Western-inspired and secularly-minded, Banna developed his vision of Pan-Islamic Nationalism, insisting that Islam and Nationalism were complementary, especially when the latter operated within the parameter of the Islamic truth, since, for the Muslim Brethren, Islam was of course both religion and state. Here we need to analyze what was the basic concept from which Hassan al-Banna initiated to establish such Islamic organization. Then we would also explore his thought of the causes of descend of Islamic society particularly in Egypt. However, his effort and works deserved great consideration of Islamic society in the revolution to the revival of Islamic state (Caliphate)…The Muslim Brethren…believe that the caliphate is a symbol of Islamic Union and an indication of the bonds between the nations of Islam. They see the caliphate and its re-establishment as a top priority, subsequently; an association of Muslims people should be set up, which would elect the imam“.

Pro-democracy Westerners need to realize that if given a real vote, a high percentage of Arabs will support less secular, more Islamic, candidates with agendas similar to those of the Muslim Brotherhood. Many in the Islamic world long for greater influence and suspect that the way to get it is to support groups that want more Islamic influence.

While the Arabs will ultimately get there leader, this will not end up well.  Notice what the Bible shows:

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. (Daniel 11:40-43)

The Islamic leader over the Arab peoples will not succeed for long.  The destruction of him and many of his supporters will be a Muslim nightmare.  But the stage is being set for the temporary rise of this leader.

World events are lining up with LCG’s understanding of biblical prophecy. The Muslim Brotherhood and/or Islamic groups with similar objectives will accomplish the goal of temporarily having unity among many nations in North Africa and the Middle East as Bible prophecy is calling for that (Daniel 11:40-43; Psalm 83:2-8).  But, ultimately, many Arabs will find this to be a nightmare.

Fortunately, Jesus will later return and establish His kingdom.  And then the Arab nightmare will turn to a time much better than any previous Arab Spring.

Well as I have been warning for some time, Harold Camping was wrong for the third time and no “rapture” (or “secret rapture”) by Christ occurred (some believe this is Harold Camping’s fourth time to be in err as some point to something he said about 1992).  Or as ABC indicated today, perhaps his 12th false date:

Although this is Camping’s second failed prediction this year, a source familiar with the preacher said he has predicted the end of the world 12 times. The sequence of events listed in the Bible (cf. Matthew 24) guaranteed that October 21, 2011 could not possibly have been that day (nor his previous date of May, 21, 2011 the judgment day and return of Jesus Christ).

According to Harold Camping and his followers, Jesus was to return yesterday. Harold Camping also has claimed that the world itself would end on that date, but the world is still here.

So why was he wrong?

The short answer is that Harold Camping allegorized away too many key scriptures. In other words, he relied on his own private interpretations and imaginations more than looking at the prophetic sequence that Jesus Himself gave in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. It is that simple. He ignored the fact that required physical events in the Great Tribulation had not happened, nor did the signs in the heavens preceding Jesus’ return occur. Notice that Harold Camping and His followers ignored Jesus’ words which could not pass away:

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many…

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened…

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near — at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Matthew 24:3-5, 15-22, 29-35)

Many of the events Jesus spoke of are still for the future. Notice also:

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)

The truth is that the events Jesus said must happen have not happened and not all of them can for quite some time.

Damage From Harold Camping’s Fallout

It remains my view that because Jesus did not come on May 21, 2011 nor did the world end on October 21, 2011, scoffers will point to Harold Camping, as well as those who insisted upon the Mayan 12/21/12 date, as proof that there have been many who falsely believed to know when the world would end. And while they will be correct about that, they also will tend to discount all prophecy, including biblical prophecy (which is supposedly what Harold Camping claims to base his own allegorical predictions upon).

The iniquity of false prophets such as Harold Camping, Ronald Weinland (who still claims that Jesus will come on May 27, 2012), and others will turn various people off about prophecy. More will feel comfortable being scoffers. And this rise of scoffers who will not believe in prophecy is also foretold in the Bible by the Apostle Peter:

1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation — as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. So, despite false predictions, Mayan prophecies, scoffers, and the assertions of many, Jesus will return. And we are to look forward to His return as the Apostle Peter wrote. Jesus will return no earlier than 2018 (and likely later) as certain biblically-required steps have not yet happened (Daniel 9:27; cf. Matthew 24:15,21,29-30).

Hopefully, those who followed Harold Camping will not turn away from the Bible, just from him and his false predictions–hopefully, instead they will study it enough to realize why it still is true and why Harold Camping could not have been right.

Those who follow Ronald Weinland of CGPFK may wish to ask themselves how they will feel on May 28, 2012 when Jesus does not return the day before as well (Ronald Weinland, like Harold Camping, also seems to excessively allegorize away prophetic scriptures).

False prophets result in an increase in scoffers, yet despite them, Jesus will return, but not in 2011 or 2012. Please do not allow false prophets to turn you aside from the prophetic and other truths in the Bible.

A couple of days ago, I noticed something I posted in June 2007 about Ronald Weinland that my article his followers should consider now in 2011.

Concerning his second book 2008 – God’s Final Witness, Ronald Weinland declared: in 2006

I noticed that the RonaldWeinland.com page claimed in June 2007:

Unlike The Da Vinci Code which is fiction, 2008—God’s Final Witness is true and reveals hidden secrets that man has not been able to uncover for thousands of years. No one in the three major religions of the world (Islam, Judaism and Christianity) has ever known the prophecies that are revealed in this book, which are beginning to unfold even now.

2008—God’s Final Witness reveals the Seven Thunders of the Book of Revelation, which the apostle John was not allowed to record! It also gives more specific end-time prophecies that will sharply increase during the next year and one-half when the final tribulation of this world strikes.

Yet, his predictions did not come to pass.

2008 was not going to be the beginning of the great tribulation as I wrote back in 2007.   Those who believe otherwise are allowing themselves to be deceived.

On the other hand, those who do not believe that the end will come are also deceived. The Bible warns against people who do not believe that the end will come:

…knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed (Luke 17:26-30).

The USA is so far in debt, it has no realistic way to get out of it. The current apparent prosperity in the USA has really come as the result of the greatest shift from being a creditor to debtor nation that the world has ever seen. It is unsustainable and according to the Bible will contribute to the destruction of the USA (c.f. Habakkuk 2:6-8).

In the current edition of Tomorrow’s World magazine, Dr. Roderick C. Meredith of the Living Church of God wrote:

So, what is just about to happen?…

First, America’s downward spiral will continue until the nation is destroyed. Of course, there will be minor ups and downs along the way. But, unless Americans repent, the God of heaven will “break” their nation’s pride and power—certainly including the financial power that has made possible the “American dream,” which so many around the world have admired.

Second,the military power of the English-speaking nations will increasingly be weakened and will finally be destroyed. Together, the U.S. and Britain won World War I, World War II and several other notable conflicts. But, unless we repent, the way is down and out from now on! Unless we repent, we will never again win a significant war. Before you start smirking, just “watch” for a few more years and see it happen.

Third,a combination of powerful “natural” disasters will continue, with increasing ferocity, to weaken and destroy the power of the Anglo-Saxon-Celtic-descended nations. For Almighty God does “control the weather.” Long ago, God warned our ancestors, “‘I also withheld rain from you, when there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, and where it did not rain the part withered. So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, but they were not satisfied; yet you have not returned to Me,’ says the Lord” (Amos 4:7–8).

Fourth, because of the above crises, the American and British-descended nations will soon face increasing famine and drought. With more and more people out of work, unable to afford the rising price of scarce food and water, there will be a shocking rise in the number of families going hungry. Expect not just “job riots” ahead, but also “food riots” and massive civil unrest as a result!

Fifth, disease epidemics will increasingly occur! Sexually trans-mitted diseases such as AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea and herpes will lead the way because of our nations’ vile lifestyles and godless ways. The Eternal God will not allow our rotten practices to continue without the penalties of such debauchery becoming more and more prevalent. God is not mocked!

Sixth, the sovereignty of the English-speaking nations will be terribly weakened and even overcome by immigrants whose values are opposed to the heritage of their host countries. Even now, we see the stirrings of the “Reconquista” movement in the American Southwest, through which certain Hispanic advocacy groups are pushing to see major parts of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas “reconquered” by Mexico. Because of this political pressure, and also the social pressure caused by drug running and other crimes in northern Mexico, the U.S. can expect that the terrible violence along its southern border will continue and intensify—with increasing thousands of people beaten, mutilated, raped and murdered!

Seventh, in a phenomenon previously confined mostly to Europe, Islamic radicals will begin to assert themselves in the U.S. as never before, demanding that their Muslim laws be allowed to govern American citizens. Watch for an increase in intimidation—both through “political correctness” and even by outright violence—of local governments if these extremists do not get their way.

Eighth, China will not be the great power of the 21st century. Beset by increasing financial and social problems, Chinese influence will wane and a German-led “European Empire” will surge to the fore in world affairs. A breakup of the present European Union structure, and the demise or collapse of the euro currency, will be followed by the powerful joining together of ten nations in Europe—led by a very charismatic “strongman.” That strongman will be the prophesied “Beast” described in Revelation 17 and 18. This will be the final revival of the historical Holy Roman Empire, which dominated Europe for centuries. It will become the most powerful human entity on the entire earth (see Revelation 13).

Ninth, today, most observers see a modernized and confused Roman Catholic Church, wounded by scandals of pedophilia and other immoral practices. Contrary to many expectations, prophecy reveals that a re-energized, unified and powerful Roman Church will emerge as a world-leading influence over the next several years. Near the end of this age, the leader of that church will appear to work miracles. Scripture describes this man as one who literally “makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men” (Revelation 13:13). This leader and his church, working in tandem with the revived Holy Roman Empire, will persecute the true people of God, much as it did in the Dark Ages (Revelation 17:6).

Tenth, fearful of the power of this religio-political revival of the old Roman Empire, a group of Arab states in the Middle East and North Africa will form an alliance, led by a ruler described in Scripture as the “king of the South” (Daniel 11:40–45). This king and his forces will provoke or attack the coming European Beast Power. Their action will precipitate a dangerous Middle East war that will eventually crush the spreading threat of Islam.

Eleventh, God will, more than ever before, literally “shake” the American and British-descended peoples with earthquakes. Describing the end-time events, Jesus Christ prophesied, “And there will be great earthquakes in various places” (Luke 21:11). Cynics sometimes say that they do not see any statistically significant increase in the number or severity of recent earthquakes—but with the growing world population, it is undeniable that millions more are being affected than ever before. And these quakes truly are increasing, despite what scoffers say. It is not only Bible students who have noted the big increase in strong earthquakes in recent years, from Haiti and Chile in the Western Hemisphere, to Japan, Sumatra and Christchurch and others in the Eastern Hemisphere. The great God—who controls not just the weather but all of His creation—states, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven” (Hebrews 12:26). What kind of “shaking” will it take to wake most people up? Increasing millions of the American and British-descended peoples are beginning to “despise” God’s law and His statutes—the entire way of life set forth in the Bible. So, exactly as prophesied, Almighty God is even now beginning to increase His intervention to “shake” us to our senses!

The Great Tribulation will begin (Matthew 24:21) and the USA and its Anglo-allies destroyed (Daniel 11:39).

Although inaccurate “prophets” such as Ronald Weinland and Harold Camping have declared that the biblical period known as the “great tribulation” began some time ago, the reality is that this biblically prophesied event cannot begin until 3 1/2 years after a peace deal, which has not been made will be confirmed by a European “prince” (Daniel 9:26-27).

Most of the key events that Dr. Meredith spoke of take place during the time PRIOR to the Great Tribulation (which happens later, see Matthew 24:21), called the “beginning of sorrows” by Jesus:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.  5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:4-8)

So, there are various key trends to look at.  And many are already starting to begin.  Yet, despite the insistence of Harold Camping supporters that Jesus will return on Friday of this week, the end is not yet.

Galileo is getting closer to becoming a reality:

Now, the EU wants Galileo to dominate the future with a system which is more precise, more reliable than GPS, while controlled by civil authorities. It foresees applications ranging from precision seeding on farmland to pinpoint positioning for search-and-rescue missions. On top of that, the EU hopes it will reap a financial windfall.

“If Europe wants to be competitive and independent in the future, the EU needs to have its own satellite navigation system to also create new economic opportunities”, said Herbert Reul, head of the EU parliament’s industry, research and energy committee.

There are still several more years to wait, but the satellite launch is a major step in getting Galileo on track. It will start operating in 2014…

Galileo is Europe’s answer to the USA’s Global Positioning System (GPS). It is more accurate and is intended to cover more area of the planet (though it would not surprise me that area coverage could be reduced for budgetary concerns). Galileo represents a new era in the sense that it is a major EU project that improves on what the USA has and shows that the Europeans have the potential to become a modern military power (though Galileo is only one of the needed pieces).

And yes, ultimately, I believe that it will be used to attack American (USA and possibly Canadian) forces, as well as to help prevent counter-strikes.

Because of various problems, the USA announced last summer that it would link to Galileo for some of its military needs.

This, as I reported at the time (see USA GPS and EU Galileo linking was expected), is dangerous. But I expected it. It is part of Europe rising up (Europa and the Beast of Revelation).

Notice that page 85 of my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect states the following:

In 2013, the Europeans are planning on having their own global positioning system (GPS), called Galileo, available for military applications. This will allow the Europeans to track the world and attack others without relying on the U.S.A.’s GPS. This will be the first time in the 21^st century that Europeans will be able to have that type of independent military capability.

Furthermore, according to a 2009 report from the U.S. government, the U.S. Air Force may have to start relying on the European Galileo system (at least to a degree) beginning in 2013, as the U.S. GPS capabilities are expected to deteriorate by then (other problems are also appearing in the newer U.S. satellites). Because the Europeans will be able to control Galileo, they will also likely be capable of derailing certain sophisticated U.S. military applications. This will give the Europeans a unique defensive (as well as offensive) capability that no others on the planet will have.

When I wrote that back in 2009, the U.S. Air Force denied that there was such a problem.

Because of domestic economic concerns and international pressures, Barack Obama is shifting priorities away from defense spending, while encouraging the Europeans to increase their military might. This will help lead to the destruction of the United States, when the Europeans are ready and the U.S.A. is not.

Sadly, this is happening right now. The power in Europe is starting to rise up.

Linking up with Galileo puts the USA at major risk of not being able to launch an effective counter-strike if the EU attacks the USA. Do Americans not remember that the wars in Kuwait and Iraq were waged first by the USA having vastly superior air/space systems? And now the USA’s financial mess is leading the USA to rely on other nations for part of this capability. The world is changing and the USA is losing its military supremacy. And top powers that lose their military supremacy have historically been taken over by others. Yes, this satellite matter is that serious.
