The Obama Administration is getting a bit more public about its support of the demands of the Muslim Brotherhood:
CAIRO — The White House on Friday threw its weight behind Egypt’s resurgent protest movement, urging for the first time the handover of power by the interim military rulers in the Obama administration’s most public effort yet to steer the course of the Egyptian democracy…With a broad spectrum of civilian leaders — excluding the Muslim Brotherhood — joining calls for a “million man march,” large crowds of protesters began to assemble in Tahrir Square as Friday prayer began across the capital, responding to protesters’ appeals for a substantial display of support. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/26/world/middleeast/egypt-military-and-protesters-standoff-in-tahrir-square.html
Yet many Egyptians want the polls to go ahead as planned. One influential group, the Muslim Brotherhood – which is expected to do well in the vote – is not supporting the Tahrir Square protests. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-15884523
Also Friday, the Muslim Brotherhood was holding a “Victory to Jerusalem” demonstration, and a pro-military march started Friday afternoon in the upscale neighborhood of Abbasiya Square. There, supporters of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces gathered in numbers smaller than those in Tahrir Square. Some held a banner that said, “To the defenders of the nation, we say Thank you.” State-run Nile TV showed the crowd chanting, “The people and the military are ONE hand!” “Whoever loves Egypt doesn’t destroy Egypt!” and “Enough! Enough! Let the people live!” http://edition.cnn.com/2011/11/25/world/africa/egypt-protests/?hpt=wo_c1
What is going on with the Muslim Brotherhood is a little tricky. They were behind the demonstrations that began a week or so ago in Egypt. They are a little bit behind the scenes today. Basically, what seems to be happening is that the Muslim Brotherhood got this month’s demonstrations started, apparently to send a message to the military and others, that once the elections are held they want real power. Many secularist Egyptians also want the military to relinquish power as well. And while the Muslim Brotherhood may not actually dominate the election results, they are definitely in a position to increase their group’s influence in Egypt and elsewhere.
This is the same Muslim Brotherhood that still supports Hamas (see Muslim Brotherhood’s Egypt’s Goma Amin, Hamas, and the King of the South) and certain other groups that are normally considered to be radical. The Muslim Brotherhood apparently wants as its top priority a pan-national Islamic caliphate ruled by an Imam/Caliph. Many Muslims long for the rising up of a leader called the 12th Imam, often referred to as the Imam Mahdi.
Here is what the Muslim Brotherhood wants to accomplish, according what purports to be an official website of the group:
What is the Muslim Brotherhood?
The world’s largest and most influential Islamist movement. Founded in Egypt in 1928, the group was originally focused on ridding the country of corrupting secular influences brought by British colonial rule. Over the years, it established branches and affiliates in many countries to promote traditional Sunni Islamic morals, social justice, and the eradication of poverty and corruption. “The Islamic nation,” its charter states, “must be fully prepared to fight the tyrants and the enemies of Allah as a prelude to establishing an Islamic state”—ideally a re-established caliphate, stretching from Spain across the Middle East and Central Asia to Indonesia, to be governed according to Islamic sharia law. (Understanding the Muslim Brotherhood. February 14, 2011. © The Muslim Brotherhood. http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=28019 viewed 11/21/2011)
(It will not end up with Spain if I understand certain aspects of Bible prophecy correctly.)
And how has it tended to view the United States? Notice what its website says about that:
What is its stance toward Israel and the U.S.?
Unremittingly negative. In past decades, the group had a blatantly anti-Semitic agenda, translating Hitler’s Mein Kampf and the forged Protocols of the Elders of Zion into Arabic and disseminating them to foment hatred of the Jews. More recently, it has contented itself with railing against “U.S. and Zionist domination.” (Understanding the Muslim Brotherhood. But the Obama Administration has tended to be supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood, not only in Egypt (see Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Satisfies US Government), but other Arab lands this year, such as Libya (see Obama Vows to Support Muslim Brotherhood Backed Leaders in Libya and Muslim Brotherhood is Increasing its Influence).
Also, notice some of what the Living Church of God has reported about this:
Ultimately, the “Arab Spring” will not produce widespread “Western-friendly” democracy throughout the Mideast! Consider that, after 57 years in exile, the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood is now Egypt’s “best organized political movement” (The New York Times, June 19, 2011). Months after Egypt’s supposed move toward democracy, Egyptian “mobs” are attacking pro-democracy “liberal activists,” while “hundreds of thousands of Islamists” are working toward “transforming Egypt into an Islamic state” (Wall Street Journal, August 2, 2011)! Although many do desire peace, a terrible conflict is brewing, and Muslim fundamentalism is spreading…Scripture reveals that before Jesus Christ’s return, there will be a final war between a “king of the South” (a leader of the Middle Eastern regions now primarily under the sway of Islam) and a false form of “Christianity” dominated by the “king of the North” and a blasphemous “Holy Roman Empire.” (Cieselka W. Islam: At War with Christianity? Tomorrow’s World magazine, Sept-Oct 2011, p. 27)
As far as Barack Obama goes, notice something that I wrote in my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect back in 2009:
…the Bible predicts that at the appointed time, a King of the North and a King of the South with rise. Various statements that Barack Obama has made suggest that he will implement policies that will likely help lead to the multi-national formations that will ultimately have these kings.
Islamic Prophecy: Barack Obama to Aid the Rise of the King of the South?
According to a commentary by Amir Taheri in Forbes, there is an amazing old Shi’ite prophecy that some in Iran believe seems to fit Barack Hussein Obama personally:
Is Barack Obama the “promised warrior” coming to help the Hidden Imam of Shiite Muslims conquer the world?
…a pro-government Web site published a Hadith (or tradition) from a Shiite text of the 17th century. The tradition comes from Bahar al-Anvar (meaning Oceans of Light) by Mullah Majlisi, a magnum opus in 132 volumes and the basis of modern Shiite Islam.
According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”
In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.
Because we are near the end of times and Barack Hussein Obama is considered to be black and he is now the new “ruler in the West” and he does lead the” strongest army on earth”, it makes sense that a lot of Shi’ite Muslims apparently believe that he may fit that Islamic prophecy. Apparently this prediction shows that some type of deal is made between the Mahdi (Arabic for “the guided one”) and the West.
Is any of that specific to Barack Obama?…
The fact that his name also seems to closely fit that prophecy suggests that he may. And while Barack Hussein Obama himself probably does not believe that “he is with us” (as “o bama” apparently means in Persian) refers to him in that prophecy, the fact is that no other U.S.A. president has ever been as close to Muslims as President Obama…
Barack Obama has called for increased dialogue with those considered as enemies of the U.S.A. As mentioned earlier, even some Shi’ite Muslims believe that his presidency may lead to the rise of their Mahdi who seems to be the same person that the Bible calls the King of the South.
Because of various actions and statements it has made, the Obama Administration seems determined to (perhaps inadvertently) help support the rise of the final King of the South. Supporting the Muslim Brotherhood may look like the most pragmatic direction to take at this time, but it is one fraught with huge risks, including for the people of Egypt (cf. Daniel 11:40-43).
World events are lining up with the Living Church of God’s understanding of biblical prophecy.
The Muslim Brotherhood itself wants to establish something that would fulfill the prophecies in Daniel 11 about the final King of the South; and it works with groups that have had a history of violence. The Obama Administration seems to be supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic groups that are trying to make a pan-Islamic empire come to pass.
Does the Obama Administration understand what it is supporting?
