Islamic Law to Be Implemented in Egypt, then on to Jerusalem?

The Muslim Brotherhood has been doing well in Egypt’s elections.  And while that may not continue, notice the following:

Brotherhood’s Mursi to apply Islamic Law in Egypt if he wins presidential race

Ahram Online – ‎8 May 2012…
Mursi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s presidential candidate, declared that the application of Islamic Law represented the sole means by which Egyptians might “restore their dignity…

In a related development, prominent Egyptian cleric Safwat Hegazi threw his weight behind Mursi’s presidential campaign, comparing the Brotherhood candidate to celebrated medieval Muslim leader Salah Al-Din, who united the Muslim world, vanquished the crusaders and liberated Jerusalem from the foreign invaders.

Mursi, Hegazi declared, “is the one who will lead us to Jerusalem.”

Notice what the Muslim Brotherhood has also indicated that it wants:

…the [Muslim Brotherhood] Society was established for, that is, establishing the State of Islam, headed by the Islamic Caliphate, in order to establish Allah religion on Allah’s land…(Source: The Muslim Brotherhood – in its own words Translation of “Jihad is the way” by Mustafa Mashhur Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, 1996-2002 by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik. http://www.palwatch.org/STORAGE/special%20reports/Jihad_is_the_way_by_Mustafa_Mashhur.pdf viewed 04/30/11)

According to many Muslims, “Allah’s land” is supposedly all nations from Spain to Indonesia, although I believe that mainly the area from Morocco to possibly Afghanistan should be considered to be in play, perhaps even involving Pakistan and others.  It wants Israelis out of Palestine.

And as far as Jerusalem goes, it wants Jerusalem to be the capital of its caliphate.  Those in the nation of Israel, of course, do not want that, but the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is to eliminate that nation.  The anti-Israeli group Hamas is political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Gaza.

The Bible warns that Jerusalem would be a focal point at the time of the end:

20 But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (Luke 21:20)

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:15-17)

There is also an interesting end-time prophecy related in Jerusalem that seems to be fulfilled regularly:

3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. (Zechariah 12:3)

The following suggests that Jerusalem will likely be divided:

2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. (Zechariah 14:2)

News items have come out indicating the EU, as well as the current UN Secretary-General (Ban Ki-moon) want to divide Jerusalem now–the captivity will come later to fulfill Zechariah 14:2 (see Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided?).

At first, this is what the Palestinians and others (like the Muslim Brotherhood) will accept–a divided Jerusalem–but that is not the end goal of the King of the South (though he, even if he gets Jerusalem without European control, will really only have it a short time).

One of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood may well become the King of the South that the Bible foretells (Daniel 11:40).

Many events are aligning with the COG understanding of prophecy. More will as well.

Watch (Mark 13:37).

King David Evidence Seems to Have Been Found

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

Part of the Large Stone Structure thought by some archaeologists to be the remains of King David’s Palace (Devor Avi)

COGwriter

King David’s existence has sometimes been doubted by biblical skeptics. David was the second king of Israel, with Saul being the first.  David was king of Israel about three thousand years ago (dates to help figure this out are in the article, Does God Have a 6,000 Year Plan? What Year Does the 6,000 Years End?).

Some doubt whether the structure above in the photograph is really related to him.  Today, a new find was announced that may change the views of some archaeologists who have been skeptical of many of the biblical accounts (and even existence) of King David:

Evidence of Canaanite Jewish Rituals in Reign of King David

An archaeologist finds spectacular evidence confirming the reign of King David and that non-Jews believed in one Creator.
Israel National News – May 8, 2012

A Hebrew University archaeologist has uncovered spectacular evidence confirming the reign of King David and that non-Jews believed in one Creator. Architecture that was uncovered pre-dates the First Temple built by King Solomon.

Prof. Yosef Garfinkel announced on Tuesday the discovery of objects found in the ruins called Khirbet Qeiyafa, a fortified border city in the Kingdom of Judah adjacent to the Valley of Elah, less than 20 miles southwest of Jerusalem and half five miles west of Gush Etzion.

This is the first time that archaeologists uncovered a fortified city in Judah from the time of King David,” according to Prof. Garfinkel. “Even in Jerusalem we do not have a clear fortified city from his period. Thus, various suggestions that completely deny the biblical tradition regarding King David and argue that he was a mythological figure, or just a leader of a small tribe, are now shown to be wrong.

Parts of the structures, such as the doors, help explain obscure technical terms in the description of Solomon’s palace as described in the First Book of Kings 6.

“For the first time in history, we have actual objects from the time of David, which can be related to monuments described in the Bible,” the archaeologist said.http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/155579

Of course, those of us who believe the Bible, knew that King David existed.

As we get closer to the end that archeologists continue to find more evidence of biblical peoples, figures, and events.

For some who have heard statements from pseudo-archaeologists that deny various biblical accounts and personalities, it may be helpful for them to realize that as time goes on, more and more archaeological evidence surfaces that supports the Bible.

Bible prophecy has proven trustworthy and will again.

LCG: The Western Economies Soon to Rot Like Fruit?

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

COGwriter

Here is today’s commentary from the Living Church of God:

By Davy Crockett | Tuesday, May 08, 2012
A recent trip to a local outdoor produce market revealed a wide variety of locally grown produce on display, including many vegetables as well as colorful fruits such as strawberries, peaches and plums–beautiful things to eat. It is the beginning of the season, and the fruits and vegetables are fresh and plentiful. The abundance was amazing, and the market was buzzing as people milled about selecting the items they found appealing. It was a happy scene, particularly when we realize that much of the world does not enjoy this abundance, and in many places the prices are so high that few people can afford the bounty even when it is available.

Recent unrest in the Middle East and other troubled parts of the world has been fueled, in part, by people’s frustration over the scarcity and the price of food. Of course, these legitimate concerns of the masses are manipulated by those with political agendas who seek the overthrow of existing governments.

But what about here at home in the United States, and in other Western nations? What does the future hold for our countries? Some will say, “Well, it could be better, but things aren’t too bad. It will work out somehow.” Others will react with bitter complaints about unemployment, high fuel prices, high taxes and government regulations. Conspiracy theories abound, and the political rhetoric is already heating up as we approach the next presidential campaign season. All the while, moral degeneracy continues its downward slide.

Many parts of the country are reeling from devastating disasters of unprecedented magnitude. People are stunned by the condition of our economy, our currency, our infrastructure and our standing in the eyes of the world. It is a time of uncertainty for millions.

But life goes on and summer is here. For many, it is vacation time. The highways are full of travelers. The restaurants are full of diners having a good time. There is an air of “Eat, drink and be merry,” or “No worries!”

Yet, underneath it all, there is that uneasy feeling of “What’s next?”

Anciently, there was another time much like this. In about 755bc, God used a farm boy from Tekoa (a town in Judah, near Bethlehem) to warn the nation of Israel about the coming judgment for their national sins. His message was not well received, but he delivered it anyway. In the book of the Bible that bears his name, Amos wrote about the ancestors of many of the nations you find in your daily news today. Then, the prophet states that God showed him ”a basket of summer fruit” (Amos 8:1)—meaning fruit at the end of the season, overripe and maybe rotting. This reference to summer fruit is a play on words, since in Hebrew the words for “end” and “summer fruit” are very similar. After showing Amos the rotting fruit, God told him, “The end has come upon my people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.” The time for their judgment had come. God would no longer overlook or delay His punishment for their national sins. We should be sobered when we realize that Amos’ prophecy is dual, which means there will be an end-time fulfillment on the modern day descendants of Israel.

Today, the Western nations are like a basket of summer fruit. We may have an appearance of prosperity and stability, but underneath the surface our society is rotten to the core. The evidence is all around us. God, in order to get our attention, is allowing some of the terrible catastrophes we see occurring. Without our repentance, the eventual collapse of our nation and the other English-speaking peoples of the world is inevitable.

If you recognize the perilous condition of our nation and want to know more about what is coming, our booklet The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy will be of real value to you. Please read it online or order your own free printed copy.

On the outside, the economies of the USA and UK look good to many.  But the debt and other problems below the surface to point to rot and decay.

The end will come.  All need repentance before it is too late.

Official USA Obesity Rate Projected to be 42% If the USA Lasts Until 2030

Obese Male

The obesity rate in the USA is expected to increase:

U.S. obesity rate to hit 42 percent by 2030: study

English.news.cn   2012-05-08…

(Xinhua) — Almost 42 percent of the U.S. population could be obese by 2030, according to a study released Monday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) .

The findings suggest the U.S. healthcare system could be burdened with 32 million more obese people within two decades. Action is needed to keep rates from increasing further, said researchers from Duke University, RTI International and the CDC.

By the most current obesity statistics, 35.7 percent of American adults — 78 million people — and 16.9 percent of U.S. children and adolescents — 12.5 million kids — are obese, meaning their body-mass index is 30 or over.

Now the above is basically the official obesity rate.  If measured differently, it is about 60% already (see Obesity rates probably a lot higher than thought).

Obesity is a major problem in the USA and will likely be a major factor in its demise.  And while it is remotely possible, I doubt that the USA will make it until 2030 based upon its debt, direction, and warnings contained within Bible prophecy.

The end of the USA and its Anglo-descended allies is coming. There is no prophecy in scripture that I believe even hints that a country like the current USA will exist after the King of the North succeeds (cf. Daniel 11:39, which seems to be the only reference to the USA in that chapter, and shows its conquering and division; see also Why is there no End-Time King of the West in Bible Prophecy?).

National repentance, which does not seem likely at this stage, is the only hope. But individuals themselves can turn to God. And although obesity is a multi-factorial problem, all who are overweight, even the irreligious, can try to eat less and make better food choices.

Another in Obama Administration Supporting Homosexual Marriage, NC May Not

Monday, May 7th, 2012

COGwriter

The Obama Administration’s homosexual marriage positions are again in the news:

Obama Cabinet member Arne Duncan backs gay marriage, one day after Biden comments

Published May 07, 2012

Another top Obama administration official appeared to break with the president Monday by publicly declaring his support for gay marriage — something President Obama has not done.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan, in a television interview Monday morning, said unequivocally that he supports gay marriage. Asked if he thinks gay couples should be able to legally marry, he said: “Yes, I do.”

The statement comes a day after an interview aired in which Vice President Biden said he’s “absolutely comfortable” with same-sex couples having the same rights as others.

Arne Duncan endorses gay marriage as North Carolina prepares to vote on ban

‎US education secretary’s endorsement follows Joe Biden’s, but White House says Obama’s official position has not changed

The Guardian – 7 May 2012

The comments by Biden and Duncan opened up speculation that the White House is moving towards a new position of support for gay marriage, beyond its already stated backing for civil unions…The latest polling in North Carolina suggests the measure to effectively ban same-sex marriage and civil unions will pass on Tuesday…

Many are confused by President Obama’s “evolving” stance on the issue, but it should be pretty clear that since he declared last Summer that he wanted to appeal the Defense of Marriage Act (see Obama Announces He Wants to Repeal Defense of Marriage Act and Increase Debt), that he seems to be trying to figure out the best way to handle this issue politically.

The State of North Carolina wants to decide if it want to go farther in a different direction:

North Carolina voters take up amendment banning gay marriage

Fox News – 7 May 2012

In the latest sign the culture wars are alive and well, voters going to the polls in North Carolina on Tuesday will decide on a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

While same-sex marriage already is prohibited by law, North Carolina is the only southern state that doesn’t have that ban enshrined in its constitution.

Why the need now? State Sen. Dan Soucek, one of the primary sponsors of the proposed amendment, said he’s pushing it out of concern for “the possibility of a rogue judge overturning the law.”

Of course, no matter how the voters in NC decide this issue tomorrow, there is always the possibility that the US Supreme Court or some other government institution will decide something differently.

The Bible defends marriage and only defines it as between a man and a woman (cf. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-10). It repeatedly condemns homosexual acts (for specific scriptures, see LCG: Homosexuals Gaining Ground).  Various politicians have opinions at odds with scripture.

The inability to think clearly and thus approve of homosexuality is specifically discussed in the New Testament:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:18-32)

Because many do not wish to retain God in their knowledge, this is part of why much of the leadership of the USA will not come out clearly against homosexual marriage. And why non-homosexuals politicians (and others) are supporting homosexual causes.

The USA is setting itself up for financial ruin, and even worse. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed as examples (Jude 7; 2 Peter 2:6). The currently militarily strong USA will not be spared (Daniel 11:39). Watch (Mark 13, Matthew 24).

Putin Returns to Russia’s Presidency And Has Prophetic Goals

Vladimir Putin, Official Photograph

COGwriter

Russia somewhat received a new president today:

May 7, 2012

MOSCOW — Vladimir V. Putin reclaimed the Russian presidency under the gold vaulted ceiling of a Kremlin palace on Monday, as police attempted to stamp out a second day of opposition protests in the city…Mr. Putin took the oath of office for a third time, extending his status as Russia’s paramount leader to a total of 18 years. He has said he may run for a fourth six-year term after that, meaning he could legally remain in power until 2024. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/08/world/europe/vladimir-putin-returns-to-presidency-in-russia.html?_r=1

6 May 2012…

Putin has ambitions of creating a customs-free area, called the Eurasia Union, which initially will include Kazakhstan and Belarus and maybe Ukraine.

For now, Armenia has turned down the offer, but that could change given that small South Caucasus country’s increasing importance to Russia’s interest in preventing any attack on Armenia’s southern neighbor, Iran.

However, Putin now wants to expand the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO, which includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan…With Putin back in the driver’s seat, look for a more robust initiative by the SCO to create a more unified Central Eurasian bloc whose purpose is to oppose perceived U.S. global influence… There even has been discussion of creating a currency based on the gold standard to be used among the SCO members, much like the Euro is used now among the 27-member E.U. countries.  http://www.wnd.com/2012/05/russias-putin-ready-to-move-quickly/

Russia’s Putin has often called for a Eurasian union of nations that suggests that his nation of the far north wants to be  confederate with what the Bible refers to as the “kings of the sunrise” (Revelation 16:12).  Russia, with its eastern border on the Pacific Ocean would also qualify to be ones of those prophesied kings.

And while it is Europe, and not Russia, that will be the end time Babylonian King of the North, ultimately Europe, despite becoming a military power for a while (cf. Daniel 11:39-43, Revelation 13:4) will be hit hard by Russia and its allies later (Daniel 11:44).

In other parts of the Old Testament, it is shown that a northern people (apparently Russia or Russian led) will be part of the force that concerns and then eventually invades, end time Babylon–which will be a European power:

50:41 “Behold, a people shall come from the north,
And a great nation and many kings
Shall be raised up from the ends of the earth.
42 They shall hold the bow and the lance;
They are cruel and shall not show mercy.
Their voice shall roar like the sea;
They shall ride on horses,
Set in array, like a man for the battle,
Against you, O daughter of Babylon.

43 “The king of Babylon has heard the report about them,
And his hands grow feeble;
Anguish has taken hold of him,
Pangs as of a woman in childbirth…”(Jeremiah 50:41-43).

Thus, the European empire (the “daughter of Babylon”) is to be destroyed by a northern (apparently Russian led) force. And probably one that cooperates with nations in the East (like China, etc.), as well as maybe Iran, and possibly the Ukraine–and this seems to be what Russia’s returning president wants.

While Europe will be led by the King of the North, notice that the Bible clearly states there is a group from the far north:

3 O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal…6 from the far north and all its troops–many people are with you (Ezekiel 38:3,6).

14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog…15…you will come from your place out of the far north… (Ezekiel 38:14-15).

1 O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; 2 and I will turn you around and lead you on, bringing you up from the far north (Ezekiel 39:1-2).

A Russian confederation is that only place on the planet that is in the far north and currently has massive military power–and while some believe parts of its military are antiquated, the upgrading that Vladimir Putin has been pushing for should have it sufficiently strong to fulfill its end time role.  A northern confederation (that appears to be led by Russia and probably includes the far north and far east/Pacific coast portion of Asia) will destroy the European Babylon–hence Russia’s president seems to have prophetic goals.

The following passage may also apply:

9 For behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon
An assembly of great nations from the north country,
And they shall array themselves against her;
From there she shall be captured.
Their arrows shall be like those of an expert warrior;
None shall return in vain. (Jeremiah 50:9)

So, although many worry that Russia will be a major military threat to the USA, the reality is that the Bible indicates that it will be the Europeans that will receive a massive attack involving Russia. And perhaps not too many years from now.

The threats posed by Russia, the rise of China, and the relative (and then absolute) decline of US power, likely all will be factors in getting Europe to rise up to become the military power that the world, for a while, will marvel at (Revelation 13:4).

And if President Putin makes more steps towards a Eurasian union, this may also be a factor in Europe coming closer together, which is also something that is prophesied to happen (Revelation 17:12-13).

CG7: Tilting Toward a Holy Spirit in a Trinity?

Contradictory Diagram Trying to Justify a Trinity

COGwriter

The current issue of CG7-Denver’s Bible Advocate has the following from its former president Calvin Burrell:

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God — the divine entity, reality, and personal presence who completes the chain of Deity, doublelinking earth with heaven. Just as Christ the Son came to reveal God the Father, so did the Holy Spirit come to speak of Jesus and remind us of all Christ said and did. Just as the Son made the Father known in human terms — bodily and locally — so the Spirit makes the Son known in heavenly terms — spiritually and universally. And just as the Father was one with, and fully present in, the Son, so the Holy Spirit came to provide the presence of the Son, not to replace the absent Son (Colossians 2:9; John 15:26b; 16:13-15). The divine chain is now complete: from God the spiritual Father in heaven to Christ the fleshly Son on earth and back again through the Holy Spirit — eternally blessed God. (Burrell C. All About the Spirit. Bible Advocate.  May-June 2012, p. 6)

The above quote is how that article ends and somewhat reminds me of the old Tkach-WCG’s God Is… booklet.  Not absolutely trinitarian, but not in conflict with trinitarian theology either.

While several accurate attributes of the Holy Spirit are mentioned in other parts of the article, the above suggests either a tilting towards the acceptance of the trinity in CG7 or at least getting more comfortable with concepts that are closer to it.  Now this is not a surprise as Jesus warned that the Church of Sardis to “strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God” (Revelation 3:2).  And this new article on the Holy Spirit seems to be another step in CG7 losing some of “the things which remain.”

Ten years ago, in the Jan-Feb 2002 Bible Advocate Calvin Burrell wrote:

Historically, we are a non-Trinitarian church, preferring other views of this complex subject. Some of us are comfortable with Trinitarian statements. Our statements on God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit indicate our belief that there is a kind of “three-ness” about the way God is revealed in Scripture, but the Church prefers to avoid the non-biblical term Trinity. No longer do we use much energy trying to show that the concept is borrowed from pagan religion. More of us now acknowledge that Trinity is one possible interpretation, or model, of the biblical material, but not the only one. Endorsement of Trinity is certainly not a requirement for salvation, as some would have you believe. – Elder Calvin Burrell

Now, while I actually have a certain respect for Calvin Burrell (as well as Robert Coulter, another former CG7 president), I really wish that he and others in CG7 would exercise greater caution in moving away from COG beliefs, as I believe Jesus has warned.  Yet, moving away from the “things which remain” appears, to me at least, what the current issue of the Bible Advocate is doing.

Those interested in studying more about these subjects, should consider looking at the following documented articles:

French Voters Elected a New President

The people of France have apparently elected a new president today, while other elections also happened in Europe:

Polls: Francois Hollande has won France’s presidential election

msnbc.com 6 May 2012-Lionel Cironneau / APPolling agency projections suggest Socialist Francois Hollande has won France’s presidential election against conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy. An Hollande victory could change how Europe tackles its debt crisis — with more stimulus and less austerity. Partial official results also showed Hollande ahead.French President Nicolas Sarkozy faced voters’ anger over austerity Sunday in a presidential run-off expected to replace him with Socialist rival Francois Hollande, with far-reaching consequences for efforts to fight Europe’s debt crisis.

Socialist Francois Hollande has been elected as France’s new president.

He got about 52% of votes in Sunday’s run-off, according to early projections, against 48% for centre-right incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.

Mr Sarkozy has admitted defeat, saying: “Francois Hollande is the president of France and he must be respected.”

Analysts say the vote has wide implications for the whole eurozone. Mr Hollande has vowed to rework a deal on government debt in member countries.

Europe Elections: France, Greece, Serbia, Germany, Italy And Armenia Hold Elections

‎Huffington Post – 6 May 2012

France, Greece and Germany election results send austerity shockwaves through Europe
The stunning victory of the French Socialists and wipe-out of mainstream parties in Greece sent shock waves on Sunday night crashing throughout the continent of Europe.

(Current French President Sarkozy himself had been a leading figure for the EU, so he likely will try to enter French politics again later and/or try to get some position within the EU–though he could leave politics for a while first.)

Here is some background on Francois Hollande’s candidacy from Wikipedia:

On 26 January he outlined a full list of policies in a manifesto containing 60 propositions, including the separation of retail activities from riskier investment-banking businesses, raising taxes for big corporations, banks and the wealthy, creating 60,000 teaching jobs, bringing the official retirement age back down to 60 from 62, creating subsidised jobs in areas of high unemployment for the young, promoting more industry in France by creating a public investment bank, granting marriage and adoption rights to same-sex couples, and pulling French troops out of Afghanistan in 2012. On 9 February, he detailed his policies specifically relating to education in a major speech in Orléans.

On 15 February, incumbent President Nicolas Sarkozy announced that he would run for a second and final term, strongly criticising Hollande’s proposals and claiming that he would bring about “economic disaster within two days of taking office” if he won…

European politics: aims to conclude a new contract of Franco-German partnership and he advocates the adoption of a Directive on the protection of public services. Proposes closer Franco-German partnership: “an acceleration of the establishment of a Franco-German civic service, the creation of a Franco-German research office, the creation of a Franco-German industrial fund to finance common competitiveness clusters (transport, energy or environment) and the establishment of a common military headquarters…Hollande supported same-sex marriage and adoption for LGBT couples, and has plans to pursue the issue in early 2013

Francois Hollande’s pro-homosexual marriage and similar immoral stances apparently have not turned the French voters off.  Of course, voters often do not do what is right from a biblical perspective (and no, this is not some type of endorsement from me for Nicolas Sarkozy).

The situation is Greece and other parts of Europe is not unexpected.  There are problems in Europe, and shortly after the austerity programs were beginning to be announced (9/5/10, see Civil War in Greece?) I wrote, “Austerity measures in Europe will likely cause civil unrest.”  Voters changing politicians likely will not stop future unrest from happening there unless certain economic changes happen in Europe.

Things must change in Europe.  Europe will deal with immigration issues and make changes to its economy which (combined with the decline of the Anglo-powers like the USA and UK) will propel it to become truly the leading economic power in the world–though only for a relatively short time.

The Bible tells of a basically European kingdom that will be partially strong, partially weak, and with a fragile unity (Daniel 2:41-43), but that will have a frightening type of economic dominance (see Revelation chapters 13,17,18). This kingdom will have a religion and it will not be Islam. Europe is prophesied to make a deceitful deal with an Islamic power (Daniel 11:27) and this deal might partially happen because of immigration policies and civil unrest.

The Bible also tells of a time when a European power will reorganize (Revelation 17:12-13). While I do not believe that we are to the point of fulfilling the reorganization required by Revelation 17:12-13, it seems that a variety of steps will be necessary for the final reorganization to occur. Some of those steps, especially if they involve austerity/budget cuts and immigration policies, may stir more violent protests in the future. Violent protests can lead to militaristic leaders rising up, and a major militaristic leader rising up is consistent with biblical prophecy (cf. Daniel 11:39-44; Revelation 13:3-4).

Irrespective of who wins in all of the six European elections today, many events are aligning with Bible prophecy. Jesus said to watch (Mark 13:33-37; Luke 21:36).

64% of Russians Trust the Orthodox Church, But…

Patriarchate of Moscow

COGwriter

Russians tend to trust the Russian Orthodox Church more than they trust its leader:

Russians have more trust in the Russian Orthodox Church in general than in its head Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, according to a survey conducted by the Kremlin-backed pollster Public Opinion Foundation (FOM).

The survey, the results of which were published on Friday, said 64 percent of Russians have confidence in the Church, and 56 percent in the patriarch.

Among those who called themselves Orthodox Christians, there were 79 percent of those who trust the Church. Thirty-five percent of those who said they are Muslims backed the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Russian Orthodox Church, through leaders such as Patriarch Kirill, has supported Vladimir Putin.  And it supported Vladimir Putin when many Russians were turning against him.  Vladimir Putin once again takes the office of President of Russia on May 7, 2012 and partially has the Russian Orthodox Church and specifically its Patriarch Kirill for assisting with some issues that possibly could have complicated, if not possibly prevented, his “re-election.”

Speaking of Vladmir Putin issue, thousands today are protesting against him in Moscow, while there are also demonstrators backing him:

6 May 2012

Protesters against Russian President-elect Vladimir Putin have clashed with police in the capital Moscow, ahead of Mr Putin’s inauguration on Monday for a third term.

The protest was peaceful until a small group of demonstrators tried to break through the lines of riot police…

A rival demonstration in support of Mr Putin has also been taking place.

Organisers said about 20,000 people took part in the opposition march – to an island close to the Kremlin – although police put the figure at about 8,000.    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17975862

Vladimir Putin probably expected some protests.  But they will not stop him at this stage.  And in addition to the police backing him, he can always call on Patriarch Kirill if he thinks that would be helpful.

I have covered Patriarch Kirill for years (see New Russian Orthodox Patriarch, Russian Orthodox Leader Urges No Compromise With Catholics, and Russian Orthodox and Vatican Closer to Ending Rift).  I believe he has a keen interest in politics and ecumenical matters.  For a while, I believe that the Russian Orthodox Church will support, at least to a degree, the ecumenical religion that the Vatican will change into.  But, ultimately, the Russian Orthodox Church will turn against that and likely encourage the Russian leadership later in the 21st century to turn against what will have risen up in Europe.

COG Perspectives Challenges James Malm’s False Number 1 Assertion

Elijah in the wilderness

COGwriter

James Malm, an independent internet poster and leader/owner of the Shining Light blog, is now apparently trying to boast that he has the number one COG News site.

On April 29, 2012, James Malm posted:

Please do visit the Number One COG site for the news that counts and its prophetic implications.

He was referring to his tomorrowsnews.net site. But the simple fact is that James Malm does not now have the most popular COG news site and never has.

I was not going to post about anything about this, but just noticed that the John D. Carmack’s COG Perspectives site took him to task about that false claim:

James Malm’s Arrogance and Who is the “Number One COG Site”?

It is becoming more and more obvious that James Malm’s delusions of grandeur know no end. He thinks a “certain blogger” is “dedicated” to attacking his site, when in reality, Church of God Perspective is dedicated to the truth, which is something that he cannot fathom because he is a liar and the truth is not in him. He is not the only liar I have exposed on this site, although I try to concentrate on promoting the truth rather than correct the hundreds of errors that false teachers promulgate. If it seems that he gets more mention on here than others when it comes to exposing deceit, then the reason is obviously because his teachings are more error-ridden than most others.

Besides misquoting me, Dr Robert Thiel, Herbert W Armstrong and numerous others, he now is making up “facts” wanting you to believe, in article “Prophecy marches on: Early elections for Israel”, that his news site is the “Number One COG site for the news that counts and its prophetic implications.”

Really? Where does he get his “facts”? As of today, what do the real ranking sites show?

Quantcast has this for his Tomorrow’s News: Today! site:

image

And The ShiningLight Blog!?

image

This site, in comparison, needs to be quantified as well. OK, I’m a slacker, but I’m now rectifying that situation, although it isn’t a news site and wouldn’t be a comparison to begin with. How about a real COG news site?

cogwriter.com…Dr Bob hasn’t done too bad for himself!…

There are pluses and minuses of using Quantcast, so what about Complete? Arguably, it is more accurate than either Quantcast or Alexa.

image

Really? No data for a “number one site”? Even this humble little site ranks 3,756,784! The ShiningLight Blog! by contrast is 473,283. However, COG Writer is:

image

Not looking like the Tomorrow’s News: Today! site is faring so well for a “number one COG site for the news”!

Well, OK, what about Alexa? Personally, I think their ratings are skewed, but some people put stock into what they publish.

Tomorrow’s News:

image

Ouch! At least The ShiningLight ranks 789,041. And, COGWriter?

image

Not only is Malm playing a silly game, but he is arrogant enough to lie about it.

In contrast, I could care less about anything but the truth…

HWA used to warn about majoring in the minors. I always have to step back and consider the attitude whenever someone makes a mountain out of a molehill, and Malm does this a lot. Even worse, he will totally ignore anything that contradicts his notions once his mind is made up, and it doesn’t matter how small or minor the issue is.

I was not going to post about this, but decided that since this false claim is so clear and obvious, that perhaps this could open the eyes of some of James Malms’ followers. James Malm simply does not have the position as he claimed. Now, while he will probably claim that his is number 1 for prophetic news that counts, as my articles throughout the years about him demonstrate (e.g. Error-Ridden James Malm Not Doing an Elijah Work), he has repeatedly been proven wrong on matters prophetic, and (other than typos, etc.), COGwriter has never thus far been wrong on such matters.

Now, while it is true that there are problems with independent ranking sites (for example, the LEAST number of unique visitors to COGwriter.com for any month in 2012 was over 86,000), the fact is that James Malm is tooting a strange horn.

In one of the first emails he sent me years ago (probably in 2007), James Malm tried to assure me that he was not like Ronald Weinland, well he seems to have prophetic, governance, and other problems that remind me of Ron Weinland.

Hopefully, his followers will not be like those of Ronald Weinland, and keep following him even when he is clearly proven to be wrong, like this false boast proves.  And James Malm is also wrong about the Great Tribulation possibly starting in 2012.

So, James, do not be like Ronald Weinland and tell everyone now that you are wrong instead of later claiming that you only said that there was a 70-80% chance that the Great Tribulation would begin in 2012.

Now There is Even More

I was done with this post, and then saw the following that James Malm posted on 5/5/12 related to the LCG update dated 4/26/12:

LCG NEWS:    I can now report that this Blog is widely read in LCG.  We have become popular enough so that:

Doug Winnail is warning his LCG brethren to beware of false teachers and suggesting that everyone study the scriptures to see if things are true.  I strongly advise everyone to follow his recommendation and certainly DO study the scriptures with an open mind as opposed to trying to prove a preconceived agenda.

Of course he means to study with the preconceived agenda of proving their traditional explanation of the scriptures correct, instead of an open minded seeking of the truth of God and studying to prove ALL things as to whether they be so, FROM the Holy Scriptures.  I will explain how this attitude prevents any spiritual growth in the major COG Groups in the coming post on Doctrinal Committees.

Doug writes:

“Beware of False Teachers. Jesus warned repeatedly that false teachers would come ‘in His name’ and deceive many (Matt.24:5). He also said, ‘You will know them by their fruits’ (Matt.7:15-20). The Apostle Paul warned that false teachers would rise up ‘from among yourselves…speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves’ (Acts 20:29-31) …. These are strong words! In order to avoid being deceived by clever arguments and long-winded expositions (Mark 7:6-9), we need to diligently study the Scriptures, so we can correctly understand the ‘word of truth’ (2 Timothy 2:15).”

While obviously some in LCG have seen his blog (obviously I have or I could not report about it as I have), to suggest that Dr. Winnail posted the above because of him is the peak of arrogance.  James Malm was not the primary purpose of that post.

James Malm perhaps forgets that Dr. Winnail, Dr. Meredith, Richard Ames, and I were all declared to be part of the “Synagogue of Satan” by RCG’s David Pack a few days before Dr. Winnail published that (see RCG’s David Pack Says COGwriter, Dr. Meredith, COGs, etc. ‘Part of Synagogue of Satan’).   I will not go into more details now, other than to say that James Malm seems to be grasping at straws to declare his self-importance.

UPDATE 12-02-2012 In case any believe that James Malm is close to being the most popular COG news site, notice what he put in a post dated 12-01-12:

NOV 2012 SITE STATS:  Unique Visitors   12,625;  Total Visits  53,927

For the same month, November 2012, COGwriter.com had Unique Visitors   124,918;  Total Visits  197,323.

James Malm has made a lot of false claims, assertions, and implications.  Those interested in the truth will not rely on him for much.
